Moore is the man, his class kicks ass. Goes through and makes history come to life, makes everything very interesting. If I could i would take him for every class!!!
Really cares about us! Wants us to learn!
class consisted of him going over everything already on the internet, so it was pretty much pointless and he covered hundreds of years of info in mere hours...had to read way more than should ever be expected but was a nice guy. hard class in my opinion.
Very funny guy! If you're a history major you must take his classes, you'll really be glad you did. I can't speak on hist 195 since history majors don't take that one.
He is a nice guy but a bad teacher. He'll put 100 things on the powerpoint and then half way through writing he tells you nothing on the slide is important! It's annoying. You never know what to expect on the test.
Nice guy, knows his stuff. The only downside he has, is that he assigns alot of pointless work on webct that is very time consuming.
He knows his stuff but isn't good at explaining what is important. He talks fast so class is over before the time. He's not that bad
His class is a fair amount of work, but none of it is overly difficult. He is a nice guy who knows what hes talking about. I would definatly recommend him, and hes the only guy that teaches HIST201.
He is a really good teacher, he can even make an 8am class bareable. Easily put onto tangents that can make an interesting discussion. Take him you will be glad you did.
he has to cover a lot of ground so of course he moves quickly. The internet/powerpoint slides are really helpful, you can write down details and don't have to concentrate on dates and such, which you can print from online. Funny guy.

Good teacher, knows his stuff and cares. Work can be thick at times but it's bearable, fair guy. I'd recommend.
Dr. Moore is freaking awesome. He's funny and down to earth, which makes learning fun. He covers a lot of material really fast, but he'll make sure you know the most important things. He's tight.
He is a cool guy that is down to earth. His tests can be difficult but other than that, it's a pretty easy class. He uses Webct alot so even if you miss class, you can see what he went over that day.

amazing
rome rules
lots of power point he's a great prof and works with studensts
Works hard to make this class enjoyable even though it has too many students.
I love scotty! ALOT of work, but grades fairly. Get to know him, hes a great guy with alot of information to share!
Awesome prof. really great guy. funny especially with his endless historical comparisons to todays funny tv shows and movies. def need to work hard tho. definitely recommend
Pretty easy class. Tests are not too hard and the class was interesting.
This is the most ridiculous class I've ever heard of! 450 students with 3 DIFFERENT professors?!? I have wasted a**** load of money and time on this class and they dont teach worth a****. They know the material but they are not good at teaching it
Works very hard to make this class very interesting even though it has 400 students
Huge class, keep pace and get lecture notes n you'll be fine. O yeah 1 more thing, u have NO CHOICE but to form a QUIZ group, trust me its the only way to get by as far as those damn WebCT quizes go
THis guy rules at first you may think he has a big ego but in the end it's all true
Good lecturer and helpful.
Once in a long while, you will have a very smart teacher. This guy is one. Slight discrepancies in his lecture information? Look closely into them. His intent is that you learn to be a critical historian, don't accept anything at face value. Nicely done class! Wish I could take more.
This class was huge and he was able to keep everyone's attention pretty well throughout the entire class. Tests were not that difficult but it all depended on whether or not WebCT worked taht day! He was a good lecturer though with fairly decent notes.
Best history prof in the department
Very excellent professor. I have had him for many courses and he is a good and entertaining lecturer, and will go above and beyond what is necessary to help students. Everyone should take at least one of this classes.
Dr. Moore is one of the Best professors in the department. His lectures are almost always interesting and you will learn a lot. He truly cares about his students and will do whatever it takes to help you out. Plus he's really cute! If you get a chance, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
this is a great professor take him if you get the chance. Can be a smart a** at time but you learn to appreciate it because it keeps the class for being boring.
Great professor however he can be a smart a** at times but he will make you learn to appreciate it. Class is great and you don't want to skip. He really cares about his students and is the best professor I ever had at IUP!
I love Dr. Moore. He is always entertaining. He's an awesome prof, he really know his stuff. Don't expect an easy A, but if you actually put some effort into it, you will get an A.
I love Dr. Moore MORE! Great guy, Great prof. Take him, you won't regret it! gt1
Definately makes you work for an A, but it is possible. Show up for class everyday and you might get amazing hints for the midterm and final when not a lot of people show up. Real nice guy, pretty funny, really enthusiastic and seems to genuinely care! I'd definately take him again.
Great guy, always available for help. Good sense of humor, very intelligent. Easy to understand, makes complex ideas approachable. Always try and he'll appreciate the effort. Talk in class, let him know you're interested in what's going on.
Looks like Spencer For Hire (Robert Urich). If you are totally disgusted with the quality of faculty in the History dept, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is awesome, you will not be disappointed. Non-history majors will even love this class. Funny and interesting. Made me enjoy history for the first time in college.
He is a great prof. with a good sense of humor. The class was challenging but not stressful. He is open to suggestions. The class was very enjoyable and applicable to the core question.
I had Dr. Moore for west civ before 1600. I had it early, and even though im not a morning person he still made me chuckle. Witty input during lecture, funny, and makes class interesting. Really knows what hes talking about, willing to help you out anytime. GOOD PROF!
Moore is a funny guy, as well as nice. A good prof. for information, good at improving overall history skills. Only downside to course was the quizes were like tests.
Dr. Moore is a great professor. He knows the subject extremely well and is able to get the information to the class effectively. He is a very nice guy with an extreme sense of humor. Attendance for lectures is mandatory and STUDYING IS REQUIRED! READ THE BOOK! TAKE GOOD NOTES! MEMORIZE THE STUFF!! Downfall, the quizes and tests are very detailed!
Moore is one of the best profs in the History Dept. His grading is fair and tests are incredibly hard. STUDY! But if you need help, he's ready and willing. Also, you'll walk into class and say "OMG it's Russell Crowe!"
Dr. Moore is a great professor. I got an A in the class, but i studied really hard for the mid-term and for the final. He is a really nice guy, makes class FUN, very witty, perfect teacher. Serious... he is a great teacher that is fair. I am not smart and i got an A. TAKE HIM.. promise u will love it and you will enjoy going to class every day!
I've had Dr. Moore for several classes--all of which were far too early in the morning...but entirely forgivable there. He's a fantastic teacher. He grades fairly, is more than willing to help, and makes the subject matter really interesting. He knows it all really well and the assignments aren't that difficult so long as you sit down and do them.
Dr. Moore's lectures are some of the very best that I have ever had. He explains everything in great detail and also makes learning fun. His tests and quizzes are challenging and require a lot of studying, but if you do that, you will have no problem. One of the best history profs you will ever have and is very willing to help when you need it.
He had to take over for a prof who passed away over winter break, he gave great lectures and gave great details, kept me interested and only told us what we needed to know. Tests were on Webct, and he does random attendance for points.Amazing Prof!!! Take Him!!
Like the person before me said, he had to take on the class, but he's amazing, really nice, willing to help, attendance was bonus, and all quizzes online. He tells you what is on the tests. His accent is just too cute... highly recommend
Gives notes to print out. Use only the notes, no book. =) Tells you exactly what is on the test. Keeps the content interesting. Attendance not required, but you get bonus for it. He takes attendance on days where there aren't many people in class. Would definitely take again. Easy grade and the only class that was fun to study for.
Excellent professor. Cares about the students and willing to help them if needed. Keeps class interesting by cracking jokes that are actually funny. Would highly recomend him to anyone!
Dr. Moore is a good teacher. You don't have to buy a book and you can print out all the notes. The tests are on Web CT and they are open note. GO TO Class and get the notes, they are important and attendance is also important. I had to read three novels and the tests were pretty simple.
Dr. Moore is my favorite professor on campus hands down. I have had him for 3 classes now and I have loved them all. You learn a ton in his class and he should always get you to crack a smile. If you have the chance, deff. take him.
Awesome guy!! Every history major should take him at least once. He honestly wants his students to do well and helps guide you with career choices and classes to take. TAKE HIM!! HE'S THE BEST!
dude rocks...one of the best teachers i ever had
I don't understand why people think he's a great teacher. You will learn nothing. He doesn't care about his students and to me he comes off kinda cocky. He has a big ego and it shows. If you try to get him to clarify an assignment or send him an email don't expect much of a response.
Great class. Had to come to class to get credit, but actually learned some things.
Pros: All the tests are online, no textbook; we just have to read three war books, outlines of the notes can be printed out. Cons: Asks obscure questions on tests, doesn't seem to like his job too much (maybe due to apathetic students?), is not too helpful when needed.
I agre w/ most of the stuff, but he helped me out twice when I needed it so he is helpful.
Don't have to buy any books except the 3 novels. Gives an overwhelming amount of notes, but they are online and so are the tests on them. He drops your lowest test score. Seems like he really knows a lot about history. Tries to add some humor into the class.
i dont dread going to his class, he hints at you for what will be on his test, so attendance is important, however not the most mandatory. i wouldnt mind taking him again
Best liberal studies professor I've had so far. Classes are always fun (he lets class out early almost every day), tests are all online and the lowest is dropped. I have actually learned a lot in his class and would highly recommend him. I would definitely take another of his classes if i could
He counts the chairs everyday doesn't do verbal attendance, knows who is and isn't in class. ALL TESTS ARE ON MOODLE 3 lecture tests 3 novel tests, no real final or midterm ! Does a lot of in-class work. I would DEFINITELY take him again! He is funny and jokes, wears sweater vests at least once a week too.
Great professor. Lectures everyday, so if you have him early it's not easy to stay awake, especially because all of the notes are printable, so no writing. But He hints at the test in class and lets you out early all the time too ,it's worth going to. Buying the textbook is a waste of money. Read the novels, pay attention, you'll do more than fine.
Great prof. Seems to really know his stuff and tries to keep the classes fun. Puts lecture notes online for downloading.
You won?t find a better history 195 teacher. Tests are online and they aren?t too bad. He does in class activities for attendance. Definitely take him! Great guy
Awesome teacher! Really funny and his class is easy. Go to class and you'll do fine. All tests and quizzes are on moodle so they are all open note. Definitely the best History 195 teacher!
I liked him. There was a lot of novel reading but it wasn't bad. He kept me interested even though I hate history. He usually let us out of class early.
I absolutely hate history, but he actually made it somewhat interesting. He is passionate about what he teaches and all of his tests are online. His class was really easy. Only 6 tests and 3 of them were on novels. Read the novels and you're set! I would definitely take another history class with him if I needed one.
AWESOME. I like history but he is sure to keep your attention and maybe even spark your interest in history. Ask questions. He hates when people don't come to class and enjoys giving easy 5 point assignments when attendance is low. All of his lectures are on Moodle. Bring those to class. Quizzes are not hard if you study, names, places, ideas.
Dr. Moore is the greatest prof ever! I really don't enjoy history that much but I actually did well in this class because Dr. Moore is a really cool guy. all of his tests are online and really straight forward. I barely did any work and I still got and A and ended up learning a few things!
He was an okay teacher. Could be funny at times but otherwise dry, but it's history. The exams weren't the easiest but if you do the novel readings and pay attention is class, you'll do fine.
lectured every class--important to note the things he does NOT have on the slides really few in class assignments. all tests are online, they are a bit difficult, but you can use your notes so it helps. really nice guy.
I had Dr. Moore for his online course in the winter term. I had never had a online course before and was suprised by how easy he made it. He was helpful and I even learned some things.
Dr. Moore's Greece and Rome class has been more enjoyable than I thought. I never really liked history before this class, but I really like learning about anient Greece and Rome.
Easy class. Take notes most classes, but once every week or two you watch a video and turn in a paper with your name on it. Attendace isnt mandatory but on random days you write your name on a piece of paper and give it to him. Small homework assignments. Take notes and read and it is an easy class, lets out early often. A is easy to get
Good Instructor. I recommend him, and would take him again if given the choice. Nice guy, very helpful.
Wasn't interested in history before taking this class but actually found him interesting. He made learning fun.
Dr Moore is interesting, and tries to make sure students understand what he is trying to get across. He requires a ton of writing, but that shouldnt be a surprise to anyone in the History program. I managed to get an A, but it was because I put forth effort, and I think he takes that into account.
This guy is awesome. He is nice and there is no pressure. He is super helpful with paper writing. Take him for your 400 requirement. Also see him for advice if you are wondering what to do with your history degree.
He is a great professor. Very funny and interesting. This class was taught more as a seminar where we had group discussions rather than lectures. He is very laid back when teaching. When it comes to assignments and grading for this type of class it's hard to know where you stand because it is just one large paper at the end.
Dr. Moore is awesome!! He is super funny and entertaining and makes class interesting. He is super passionate about what he teaches, and has travelled to many of the places he discusses in class, so he has real personal experience. All tests are online and if you complete the quizzes, you'll do well on the exams. I HIGHLY recommend him!
I loved Professor Moore! He was very straightforward and his class was easy to understand. Even if you don't like history, he makes his class interesting for you to follow along. Definitely would take him again if I had the opportunity.
Dr. Moore is fantastic! Such a sweet and kind professor. He always makes an effort to make class interesting, and brighten everyones day. I would definitely take another class from him if I had the chance! GREAT professor and fantastic person.
Dr. Moore is a great professor who made class interesting to go to. The grading criteria is straightforward and if you put forward the effort it is easy to get an A. He is funny and gave a lot of extra credit when students missed.
I took this class online over winter break. Best decision I have ever made. He followed his syllabus and was clear on what he wanted froths students. 3 weeks of work but definitely worth it to get the history credit out of the way. Each lecture has a discussion and each unit has an exam. Would definitely take again.
Dr. Moore is one of the best History professors. He's super busy because he's the chair of the department. Very intelligent and extremely smart even though he jokes with students most of the time. Can be difficult to read sometime, but don't let that discourage you because he's a very funny guy and has been around the world a few times.
Dr. Moore really showed passion for the material and teaching. He is absolutely hilarious and he's very understanding about giving extensions and such. I'm glad I had the opportunity to have him as a prof.
Hes a super awesome guy and super nice!! Highly recommend taking his class
Dr. Moore is awesome, super engaging and understanding, the class itself isn't too difficult either and he makes the tests and exams as easy as possible for you. He runs the department so don't expect quick replies to emails but honestly, he makes everything so easy and clearly laid out that you shouldn't need to talk to him much.
I'm writing this a 2 years later because I just had to leave him a great rating. He was hands down the best professor I have ever had. I took his 195 Hist class my first semester of my freshman year. If you have a chance to take one of his classes required or not I highly recommend you take him.
One of the best at IUP. Lenient about due dates and extensions. Lecture heavy but funny and engaging. Only thing is he goes very fast through presentations and it's difficult to take notes.
Professor Moore is a very kind man. One time I farted in his class, and everyone turned and laughed at me. Professor Moore told everyone to be quiet, and he patted me on the back, reassuring me that everything is OK. He also had very accessible office hours, in which he would comfort me of that trauma. I highly recommend this awesome man.
Dr. Moore is such a good professor. Had him for Intro to Hist Studies. Works to push students, while making sure they are learning and growing! Super kind and understanding of outside situations. Very available via email. Strong advocate for students! Genuinely just wants to see students succeed !
Love, Dr. Moore. I’ve been in three of his classes, it’s easy to get A’s and I think his lectures are interesting. He’s very easy going. His directions can be vague, but he’ll answer any questions.
funny, quick, flexible due dates, understanding of student needs & concerns
This class was very fascinating. A zombies-based class is something that I would never think I would be able to take, but I am glad that I did. The class is a lot of dense reading, but he grades very laxly. It's a neat class that has a bunch of work. As long as you do everything, it is pretty easy.
I love Dr. Moore. He's a great guy. His directions can be vague, but he is an easy grader and will answer any questions you have. I highly recommend him. He is very laid back and answers emails right away.
I love this dude, if anyone has a problem with him, that's a you problem. Great energy, great lectures. Go to class, take notes from the board and what he says because the notes he has on the board aren't the same as the one's online. The outside of class assignments aren't that hard to do. This guy's hilarious and made my monday mornings better.
Great professor. Lots of reading and homework but exams were easy as long as you studied. Funny guy too.
Dr. Moore is a great professor to have. His HIST 211 class is lecture heavy, and he doesn't follow a specific guidelines to what he teaches. Be sure to take lots of notes, though. Towards the end of the semester you do about two essays.
Professor Moore makes history engaging with his funny personality and real-world experiences. Attending class is a must, but the workload is manageable if you use the free textbook and tools like Unstuck ai for study prep. Highly recommended for an easy A!
