Absolutely useless! Thinks everyone's life should be Finance. Not useful for those weaker in Finance. Way too fast and marks like an arrogant doofus.
nice guy, entertaining.... But really hard class and he expects too much out of you...
Nice fellow, play's favorites. Presents quickly, unclearly and doesn't take questions. Problems on the exams are harder then any problem you will find in the text or study guide.

Good teacher, up to date on the materials
Not able to differenciate what is essential in his course
Strict, but fair. Great financial theories are covered well in this course.
Sometimes you do everything you can, but it's still not enough to get the grade. Expect this type of disappointment from taking prof. Jassim's Investment class. You will learn good things but you will fall short of the grade.
Bad bad bad. Terrible. Contradicts himself every few minutes. Keeps droning about how he works in 3 universities and that we're wasting his time (who the hell cares?)
Difficulty to sleep in his class!
It's hard to keep awake in his class. He never uses the text book (at most 2-3 times), but he wants you to buy it (has his name on it).
I did not know much about finance, but this teacher make it clear.
I hate theories, now they have meanings to me . Thanks Mr. Jassim
He expects you to read before coming to class. So do it, it helps. But I can follow his lecture. I like the way he makes boring theory into interesting practice.
Very useful course.
Great course, now I can buy my first home with good knowledge. Thanks Prof. Jassim
worst prof. that i have ever met. contradicts everything in the exam that he says in the class. makes you feel confused after the class and insults students like a bully.
I am an A- student. I must aggree, I have never seen worst teacher in my entire life. Prof. Jassim is very inteligent but he should definitly not teach...
The course of the year to me. Very difficult at the start. It takes time to understand, but there are good subjects Prof. Jassim makes it easy to understand. Exam is not given, you better work hard.
Prof. Jassim opened my eyes to new way of looking at engineering. A+ for great teaching.
Prof. Jassim is fast! But accomplish the required Schedule. Hands on the market, Great Job.
If they could all be like him...
I've never seen such a worst teacher in my life. I was so excited to take that course..but thanks to this teacher I passed but didn't understand much...
Too many students in this class. The Professor makes it worth my attending regularly. I wish all teachers are like him. I might think of changing my future profession to Finance. Thanks to Prof. Jassim
Best Prof.
Really very good teacher.Thanks
Good teacher, organised. His exams are difficult!
Great professor, very intelligent and easy to talk to. Highly recommended
This professor goes so fast you can never understand what is going on. He picks on students and embareses them in class. We were not told what was going to be on the final exam untill a week before. He did not even have time to finish all the class material.
His exams are difficult, he is clear. I like his stock investment knowledge. It the only course in engineering that keeps me awake! We should all take his course. It is a good challenge.
He is The BEST.
It is a hard course, he goes too fast. Not all the examples are from the book. Makes it hard to follow. He is ok.
He is someone really passionate about his subject. He reallly wants you to learn which is somethig I admire. Given the breadth and depth of this topic you absolutely NEED to spend extra time after class on this topic in order to get decent grades which is not too bad for full time students but difficult for those with families and full time jobs.
He is simply the best
good.. very american though
Great application of finance. Good teacher, I wish him the best.
THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE HAD SO FAR. HE WORKS QUICKLY BUT IF YOU STUDY REGULARLY YOU SHOULDN T HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH HIM. HE KNOWS HIS ATERIAL VERY WELL
He is a good prof coz he shows concern and makes an effort to grab your attention. I will be honest though, the material can get quite difficult so don't expect an easy A. Study hard and take him in the summer if you can. He'll make you laugh with his Anit-Bush overheads. He's pretty good in general compared to the other teachers in Engineering.
Great Professor
He's a good teacher and knows his stuff but ask a stupid question and you will definately be called on it. He's got a tough personality and is somewhat intimidating, but theres a lot of extra resourse material and ta office hours to take advantage of if this bothers you. the tests are NOT EASY.
His goal as a teacher seems to be to trick you on exams - not to teach. He has a huge ego and sees himself as some kind of corporate master. Tries to impress. He makes fun of the questions people ask, their names, and the way they talk. He may know his stuff but he does not treat his students like adults. I found his whole approach a turnoff.
Hardest course I have ever taken in my entire life
Great thinker, will change a bit your thinking about this unpleasent field. Much better than other teachers.
He is clear, he likes his materials. up to date on his topic. Good job!
Too much work. But useful course. I might change to MBA becuase of this Professor. More $ I hope
i hate this course with all my heart and soul, too hard, but the prof is pretty good. He is funny, and keeps his students interested, explains well, promotes discussion. He's always keeping his students up-to-date with the stock market "Did you see Google? Google dropped down 40 points! Don't buy Google" and there goes the hour.
His materials can help in preperation for CFA 1, I would say. Good speaker and up to date in Finance area.
this was very tough for me. he is very good. even if you hate finance and stocks and you know nothing about them he will make it interested for you. I wish I met this professor 20 years ago, I might had changed to finance.
he should focus in applying the theory we learnt
Amazing teacher. Wish I had him during my undergrad. Really stoked the "finance" fire inside me. I highly recommend.
the most incapable I hv ever met, and his attitude made him ineligible for teaching. know little about his stuff w/ BS in class to pretend professional. you wil learn nothing from his class, even worst you hv to pay extra for some useless stuff. avoid him to save your time.
The worst professor at McGill.Doesnt like being asked questions.Picks on students, extremely discouraging. Wish there was somebody else at his place
Learned alot from Prof. Jassim
He's a funny guy but he won't tell you what to do or how the project should be. Classes are good.
This guy could not teach a fish how to swim. His methods aren't even flawed, they're just downright ineffective. Over the course of the semester I learned how to solve his kinds of exam questions, and absolutely no economics. He takes this boring subject, and makes it absolutely unbearable.
the most incapable I hv ever met, and his attitude made him ineligible for teaching. know a bit about his stuff w/ in class very professional. you wil learn from his class, worth the money and time.
This guy knows how to swim. His methods are effective. Over the course of the semester I learned how to solve his kinds of exam questions/ economics. He takes this boring subject, and makes it absolutely well OK.
The best professor at McGill.Always ask if we have questions.Extremely encouraging. Wish all teach like him.
Great Prof
I disagree with RJ and he posted he knows how to swim. He actually can't even teach a fish how to swim!
Its actually amazing how bad of a teacher he is. My mind boggles at it.
Probably one of the best teachers i've had at mcgill
This guy simply do not have a clue about finance. Never underestiamte an as...le, you never know when he will be your teacher!
expect you to have photographic memory. love using acronym which sucks, you can't even catch up with copying down notes, nor can you read his writing. just horrible
After I got a 95 on the second midterm, I was like yo I'm a finance genius, but then my hopes and dreams of being a super rich investment banker got crushed when I wrote the final. It as hard as my biceps, and man my biceps are like, real hard.
Good teacher, so much material though, like it is so condensed it's unbelievable. The class will goes by very quickly, midterms every two weeks and you learn a ton in those two weeks. Great teacher though, funny guy, but you must read the book yourself, there is simply too much information to just rely on the lectures.
Just a really bad Prof. You should never take this course in summer. I did that and now I regret it. He makes it twice as hard in summer.
Very condensed course which contains micro econ, finance, accounting and a little macro econ. Very tight schedule and you have to remember so many things very quickly. Get help from some friends from finance, that's what I did and I got an A. Professor's explanation is not very suitable for engineering students since most of us are new to this.
Oh man...the material is a lot and the prof is unfortunately not presenting it clearly and efficiently. He makes weird jokes and talks to Siri in class while you are wondering wth u r doing there. Read the material before class, attend lecs and go to tutorials if you want to pass.
Worst prof ever. Completely useless. Doesn't explain anything in class. Attend tutorials if you want to do well. THIS IS NOT AN EASY COURSE JUST CAUSE IT HAS THE WORD ECONOMY IN IT. Learned that the hard way.
The teacher is ok. I will see how the final goes! I hear it is difficult, but this is my experience with McGill, ridicules finals.
The course is difficult. Read textbook for further clarity. Tutorials are key as they provide extra problems. Attend class as he does examples not provided in lecture slides. I scored 84 and 86 on the midterms. I am assuming a 75-80 for final. I studied a lot. This course is a lot of material for short time. I can see why some people scored low.
Had no interest going into this course. He wastes class time, then rushes the last class before a midterm. Class material can get boring but he is pretty entertaining. I think he was pretty fair with his evaluations, since the midterms were easy and the final was very hard. Became really interested in economy and finance by the end of this course.
You want to feel bad about yourself ? Take his class. Useless material for engineers. Makes you wanna drop out of school with his midterms. Do not take. Avoid at all cost.
FACC 300 is an Excellent course!! The prof is really nice and very friendly. Lectures don't really teach you how you can solve problems, but the tutorials are here for that, so don't miss them!! Exams are as usual, not easy.
This is the worst course ever, professor sucks, you don't know what you're meant to study, exams have harder math than math 263.
Learning from Jassim is like drinking from a fire hose.
Unclear lectures do not enrich students' learning experience.
Want an A? Go to the tutorials with Pierre! Show up to class, he gives out pop quizzes for bonus marks, I repeat, for bonus marks! They do not count to the final grade, even if you bomb them it won't matter, it's just his way of taking attendance I guess. Lectures are not so clear but you get to understand everything in the tutorial.
He is a good teacher but I feel like he overcomplicates certain things. His exams are difficult and I believe he makes the course much tougher than it should be. I enjoyed going to lectures nevertheless.
Worst professor Ive ever had. Simply doesn't care about students efforts and complicates the material for no reason. Pierre should teach this course instead of this guy. 95% of his questions are multiple choice. Why? Because he's too goddamn lazy to correct students' exams and give proper feedback when necessary. Fire this person already.
This teacher is all about money. He forces you to buy his ebook (which I didn't :))) and it is imperative to get a 60$ financial calculator to solve some problems (which I bought and immediately returned it and got my money back :))). I am glad I didn't waste a penny on this useless devilish course and teacher. I'd rather buy a good steak!
This guy is the typical corporate master; exploits the students' money in exchange for reading material and practice problems, and seems delighted to screw students over. Don't be drawn in by that fake charm, as behind it there is a sinister, arrogant, and hypocritical fiend. If you are reading this, Mr Jassim, shame on you.
Prof Jassim makes Engineering Economy so complicated with a bunch of old slides, not updated at all. This class was supposed to be a class in the Faculty of engineering where students would learn about relevant topics that will be useful later. As other mentioned, he forced you to buy an e-book, totally useless. Be aware - He is a bad Prof.
I like the course, good topics
He does not care about his students at all. He is the most unreasonable professor in McGill.
Hard but worth it, condenses 3 or so business classes into a single class that you can sort of get. Make no mistake, the final will not be fun, but you'll come out of this class with practical skills.
The subjects are really interesting and useful in real life, if you go to class there is not much to worry about
Great prof, classes are awesome if you love the subject.
easy prof as long as you study his notes. recommended
The most stressful and disappointing course. Avoid taking courses taught by him
Avoid him. He is the worst ever teacher at McGill. He does not explain anything, and when you ask him in class, he is not able of answering. I don't understand why he is still there... maybe because he is the leader of the union? Union vs. Quality.... very disappointing experience at McGill, which is supposed to be' the best university of Canada'
Very patient prof who actually cares about his students
Prof. Raad Jassim is very close to his students, and very generous ... his knowledge is priceless, I wish I had more courses with him ....
What's with the hate on this guy? The exams are straightforward, do past finals and you'll be fine.
One of the worst teachers at McGill. A terrible accent, it is difficult to understand. He is pointless, unrespectful with students, and he has no clue of finance. Avoid any class with him.
we are paying an expensive fee for a pointless class with a terrible teacher. He does not have any credential in finance, but he stills teaches in advance course. Very questionable. he bullishes his students given his position as McGill'a teachers' union's leader. Don't take any course with him.
Simply the worst ever. He is not educated in finance, what it explains why his classes are pointless and confusing.
Few classes in this term and Rad Jasaim shows lack of knowledge and experience. Pointless, old fashioned and boring. A complete waste of time and money.
It is the hardest course I have ever taken. He does seem to know a lot but fails to transfer that knowledge to the student by making it too difficult and complicated. What he teaches compared to what he tests you on are worlds apart. He tries to cover one chapter in 10 minutes making you responsible for a lot on your own. The load is excessive.
I come to this school to learn how to become an engineer but this course train me as an accounting. Can be useful for someone but not for me.
He his the most useless individual I have ever met.
If you succeed in facc300, it means you have graduated with an accounting degree from concordia university.
Midterms are hard, final is harder. But if you go to the tutorials and do all of the practice sets you should be ok. I just wish he uploaded practice multiple choice questions as well.
I went to all his classes, did all the problem sets however he ended putting questions that were never seen before. Don't go ask him questions cause he'll just not answer them. The only thing I learned from this class is how to use the financial calculator.
If you do the tutorials and practice sets and practice midterms/finals, the exams aren't hard. Not an easy A, but definitely do able if you work for it.
Passionate about Tesla and Warren Buffett Exams doesn't relate your level in the class If you succeed your exam, go to the casino, you are in luck
Absolutely useless. This course attempts to teach you too much stuff in one semester. The only thing you end up understanding is the financial calculator. You apply formulas without even understanding the purpose of the result. This is thanks to the awesome teaching skills of Pr. Jassim. Fun and friendly person, but nonexistent teaching skills.
Mixed feelings about this guy. On one hand, he's a decent prof and he's pretty funny, always making references to current events. It actually makes the material kinda relatable. On the other hand, the course contains a stupidly large amount of material, which is what makes it really hard. Some things he covered rlly well; others, not so much.
horrible prof
"giving your answers to quizzes is a waste of time for me"
This guy does not let students review their exam because he claims that he is not paid enough to do that. He does not try to improve his course materials - reuses the decade old slides just so it includes irrelevant info to troll us. For FACC300, TAs are super nice. Forget the attendance bonus mark bs in the lecture but do attend the tutorials.
I dont understand all the hate. His lectures are very clear. I am someone who did terrible on the midterm but managed to do great on the final. His exams are very easy if you do all the practice he gives. Make sure you understand every detail and know the terminology. Not an easy but a totally doable A/A-.
just avoid it, worse teacher ever.
FACC 300 and this prof is the biggest challenge of your engineering career.
everyone has a different question, and a different number of questions, so luck will be what he examines, but how well you know the concept. best of luck to everyone who takes this course, because this probably is the last class you take in engineer like many of my friends(All GPA above 3, even some above 3.5) transfer to science because they can n
Transfer to science!!!!!!!!! You can not pass an accounting/economies course, then you are not a good engineer!!!!!!
This guy is a real gem. He cares a lot about his students and wants everyone to do well. Don't listen to anyone saying anything negative about this guy or the class. Test 1 is rough but after that, everything comes together. Study well and you'll be fine. Did the class online. Free bonus marks and minimum grade you can get on quizzes is a 50.
As an engineering student who just want to easy pass my FACC classes, I don't understand the necessity for this class to be this difficult. Tbh the prof is chill but his exams are NOT.
Most definitely the worst professor I've had. Doesn't explain topics well at all and the format of his online tests are awful. His tests don't give partial credit on questions where a lot of work can be shown. Had to rely entirely on the TAs to understand the material.
Prof Jassim is very enthusiastic and definitely tries to get everyone involved. Regardless, FACC300 is one of the hardest class I've taken. I think you just have to be an econ person to do well, I certainly am not. Make sure to study the tutorials problems and practice sets. Gooooood luck
Doesnt have time windows for exam to accommodate for people in different time zone
unresponsive to student question while unclear about the material he is covering, let student post questions on discussion boards and give some ridiculous answers
Doesn't allow students to go back to previous questions on exam doesn't make any sense, some questions is hard and need to be compare to other questions and judge whether it worth the time
He is a down to earth, really caring and fun prof. The course itself has tough materials but he really tries his best to make it easy and enjoyable for everyone. You cant go back on the test questions but makes sense since he is trying to prevent cheating. He answers his emails right away and he explains the concepts clearly to help you get that A
Honestly I don't get the hate. The guy's fitting a ton of info into a 3 credit course and doing his best. He tries to fit concepts in with current events, and students whine if he goes off-slides. Not an easy course, but if you pay attention to the major hints he and his TAs drop, it's not that bad. A is hard to get, read exams carefully.
I'm not even done the semester but he is the worst professor I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with. They will never get rid of him, but he single-handedly made my semester worse. I hope he never prospers in life.
he speaks way too slowly during the zooms its impossible to understand sounds like slow motion
Awesome professor! Even better TAs! In order to get an A in this course, you should constantly review the material you're being taught every week!!!! Although not mandatory, attending tutorials are the main reason that passed me this course! Always be active on discussion boards, the TAs are more than willing to answer your questions.
Things are fake about this class. Jassim pretends to care about students but doesn't even allow students to bring a blank paper to write on when there is no space on the exam paper. There are bonuses, which will not be counted towards your final grade at all. So be ready to study on your own and do better than your peers. 85 doesn't guarantee an A.
This is definitely the hardest class I've ever had the displeasure to take. The prof does not care about you or what you stand for. He makes the exams excruciatingly hard to decipher, with extremely ambiguous phrasing in his questions, 3 ways to trick you in MCQs and actually misleading prompts in the final exam. DO NOT TAKE WITH JASSIM IF POSSIBLE
I was on defence about the criticism before this class, being that I am a student that usually does quite well in all my courses, regardless of difficulty (came in with a 3.94/4.00 GPA). But Jassim really makes these tests IMPOSSIBLE to excel in in a normal fashion. I do not recommend, especially if you are taking a large load of classes.
You get what you put in. If you review your notes after every lecture and attempt every problem, set on your own and go to tutorials you will do perfectly fine in this course. The questions can be tricky on the exams but once you understand the tricks that prof Jassim pulls you will be able to avoid them. Just don't lose focus and an A is in sight!
I took this course in one month of the summer semester, everyday we had 5 hours lecture; and every word from his mouth would be on exam. But he is an amazing teacher! He would teach you everything about stock and investment even though he lost some money :).
Great prof. Very interesting and inspirational. You get what you put in. You WON'T PASS if you don't go to lectures. Get ready for a lot of practice. Lots of content covered, but managable if you stay consistent. I did not know anything about econ before facc 300 and I feel like I learned so much. He's also the sweetest and makes jokes all the time
This man is an actual comedian. Classes are very entertaining but tests are indeed very hard. Attend tutorials with my man Dylan and put some time into this class. Facc 300 is not as bad as people lead you to believe, overall interesting course.
One of the least structured prof in eng. His slides are unclear, does not define variables anywhere. Tough class but the material is easy, he is just a terrible prof. He seems like a sad person who needs to talk, he often talks about his personal life, or gives opinions about politics. Unfortunately he's the only one teaching so good luck!
Attended ~ 5 lectures. He is funny and knows a lot, but he jumps straight into detailed problems, without giving some clear definition on the slides or orally, about concepts and terminology. I had no background in Econ and so I did not understand anything from lectures. I did decent by focusing on the problems rather than his lecture slides. GL!
THE BONUS POINTS ARE A LIE !!! He makes the content confusing on purpose, but he is a funny guy, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REACH HIM THROUGH EMAIL, HE'S VERY RUDE
worst class i have ever taken in my life
He expects you to come to class knowing everything. He won't teach you the basics and go through his slides. He does not explain what he's doing. If someone answers his question correctly, he assumes everyone understood. Every evaluation is multiple choice so good luck!
I took FACC300 in the summer, so the class was more difficult due to the rushed material. He was a funny guy, and was very knowledgeable. The material was not that bad, but I for sure had to put in some extra work. Attend tutorials, ask questions. He gave pop quizzes in class which were free points. All of his evaluations were all multiple choice.
Prof Raad is an entertaining lecturer, but his teaching style can be challenging. Attend class, do the practice problems, and use Unstuckstudy for extra study prep - that's key to doing well. The material isn't too bad, but you'll need to put in the work.
Genuinely painful class - first class at McGill that I thought I may fail. Didn't miss a lecture - don't think it's worth going, since I learned 100% of what I understood from the tutorials (go to every one). Had to hire an external tutor just so I could have some grasp on the concepts. Do the problem sets and hope for the best.
No one and nothing can help you. Attend lectures and learn how to solve his style of problems. Study hard for the midterms and grab whatever bonus points you can to take some of the pressure off the final.
Unbelievable nonchalance about his class and students. The notes don't make any sense and chatgpt has taught me all of the topics seen in class. Half of your grade is based on if you can decipher what acronym he is using. I haven't been taught anything, rather, his lectures literally made me unlearn stuff that was already clear.
Terrible teacher. Notes are so unclear and lack a lot of context. The examples given in lectures do not reflect ANY of the test material. He expects you to have a base knowledge of economics/finance WHILE IN ENGINEERING. The class has a stupid amount of content to be given in 15 weeks.
Professor Jassim runs the FACC 300 course terribly. 1 Evaluating with multiple choice only is ridiculous for the course's content. 2 His tests are purposefully tricky in ways that don't improve understanding of the content. 3 He sucks at explaining things in class. He goes off on tangents and stories instead of putting things simply Just awful
