Rachel is an amazing teacher and seems to really love the subject matter. This class is one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken and I would recommend it to everyone.

Awesome teacher! Tests were super easy if you study. Made an A on every single one. Attendance matters a lot but then again it's not one of those classes you actually don't want to go to. Final grading is kind of stupid but she's an awesome person and would take her again.

Ms. Satzman is brilliant and her method of teaching has opened up a new world of study for me....what can I say she is inspiring and witty....

She is a wonderful teacher. Maybe she comes across as full of herself if you have never been outside your home county and experienced anything of interest. She is not a welding instructor, bumpkins. She goes out of her way for her students and I have nothing but good to say about her.

My feelings about this class are very mixed. The information is very interesting, and I love coming to class and learning new material..But she can be kind of a witch. She's hilarious, but also very blunt and doesn't seem to have a problem with rudeness towards students. I've taken both of her classes though, so the information is worth the 'tude!

She is not rude she is just from New York. !!! This is my favorite class at CFCC I have learned more in this class then any other. The info is interesting and she is a great teacher.

She loves to go off on tangents and she is a little crazy, but she is a fun teacher. She tells a lot of stories. The tests are a little hard though. There is a cultural project worth 30% of the final grade that varies in topic and difficulty each semester.

When I signed up for ANT 210, did not expect it to be interesting at all. I was very wrong. One of my favorite classes at CFCC. Rachel makes the class very interesting and she has a very boisterous personality that can turn some people off, but I thought she was awesome. Her tests are easy if you study, and class is an easy A.

Great professor and one of the best at CFCC. She's very passionate about what she teaches, very clear on what is on the test and how it's graded. She goes over the questions in the class prior and if you take good notes from her PowerPoint lectures you should be fine and if you don't think you fully understand, ask! She'll be happy to help you out.

She is the greatest teacher I have had at CFCC yet. I have considered changing my major after taking this class. Very interesting, casual teaching style. Sometimes she lets students ramble on too long but other then that I really enjoyed this class.

Satzman really loves her job, it's quite clear. She does seem to act like she is the only/best vegan in the world (and she would know since she's traveled ALL OVER...) and everyone in the class is a carnivore-superb and has never left the States. That was annoying. But I did truly love the subject material and her perspective!

Satzman changed my academic life! She is truly one of the best teachers at CFCC.

Amazing professor. Made me want to change my major to Anthropology. Makes the smallest things absolutely interesting. If she can keep a night class awake for three hours, she must be doing something right! Love her energy too!

She is super energetic and is very excited about anthropology. Attendance is a must. She only lectures and gives 4 tests - no HW. Exempt from final if 100% attendance. She does not post lectures. YOU MUST BE IN CLASS. I wish all my teachers were as good at teaching as Mrs. Satzman. Definitely want to take more of her classes. :)

Mrs. Satzman is one of my most favorite teachers of all time! Her enthusiasm and passion for Anthropology influenced me to change my major. I found myself doing my own personal research outside of class just for fun. I wish she could teach all my classes :)

Pretty much the most awesome teacher ever! Class is so interesting and you actually learn a lot. It's more of a discussion type setting rather than someone just droning on and on. The test reviews are the test! Highly recommend this teacher!

Mrs. Rachael is amazing! She makes class so interesting, and it is very discussion based rather than textbook based. Success in her class is very self-determined, so if you show up, take good notes, and participate you will do well!

Absolutely the best teacher at CFCC. She makes this school look good. Anthropology wasn't even my major, I just took it as an easy A class and I loved it! She was so enthusiastic and I honestly did not want to miss class because of her teaching style. Definitely go to class and she will be happy to work with you regardless of your needs.

She doesn't give tests in cultural anthropology, but there is a weekly reading assignment and a corresponding writing assignment. Be sure to give multiple examples in the writing assignments from the reading assignments and elaborate on these examples or she will take points off. There's also an essay assignment, but all together, it's a fun class

Best teacher!!!! No tests in Cultural Anthropology!!! She really asks you to think about the material. This is my second class with professor Satzman. 3 words.... take this class

This class is SO fun!!!!! no homework, no book, just three tests!!! Lectures are really engaging!!!!! She is hilarious, light hearted but really makes you think. This class uses examples from all over the world. This class made me switch my major to Anthropology!!! LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!

Rachel is INCREDIBLE. Hands down she is the best teacher I've had at CFCC. There are no tests in Cultural Anth, she truly wants you to be engaged and think critically about the readings. This is what all college classes should be like. She is fun, confident, & has great stories. You won't want to miss class. I can't say enough good things about her

I am being very honest when I say that this is the BEST class at CFCC. Rachel makes class fun, easy to understand, and enjoyable. The layout of the tests just worked for me!!! I you pay attention and attend class this is an easy A. Last word of advice. DON BE ABSENT!!!

I love this class! I felt the material was involved and deep yet well presented in a digestible format. She explains the process clearly. I like the sass and no-nonsense attitude about conducting the classroom. But RAchel also offered a long leash on class discussions. Well Done!

Amazing instructor, lectures are mature and thought provoking. She has opinions, which she is clear about disclosing, but supports her leanings with verifiable scientific, cultural and or academic relevance. When she is discussing facts, she is very accurate. One thing that I would stress is that you get out of the class what you put in.

Hard material to work through, but excellent instructor. She makes her guidelines very clear and her negative ratings appear to be those that didn't listen or participate. She holds students as accountable adults. Much respect.

Love her class, she is very straight forward about how she wants everything to run by. She will give you many opportunities to turn in extra credit. Don't miss class, because perfect attendance is also extra credit.

I loved this class and this professor. By far my most favorite class taken as Cape Fear. Next year I have the whole time to take what I want to waiting for my program to take applications and I will be signing up for her other 2 courses. AWESOME!

She is a great teacher. Only has 4 test. The class before a test she pretty much gives the answers to you. Is a New Yorker so she can be loud but in a good way. Very funny. I would DEFINITELY take her classes.

Attendance is part of your grade. She doesn't post her power points online so bring a computer to type your notes. Tests are fill in the blank but she makes sure you know exactly what is going to be on the tests. The final is optional if you're happy with all your other exam grades. No homework! I absolutely loved this class and her energy.

All of the assignments are from the book so make sure you get it. She teaches from an older version of the text than the one in the bookstore. I got it for pennies on Amazon. Either version works but if you get the new one it is more expensive and the page numbers are different.

Rachel is by far my favorite teacher at Cape Fear. She has the best lectures and is constantly making you laugh and keeping you interested. She gives you a test review day the day before the test and as long as you go on that day and listen to her, you will for sure pass all tests! Very easy going class, only three tests and that's it! Take this!

Ms. Rachel is amazing! She makes a subject that I thought would be boring very exciting and interesting! She is also really funny and tells great stories. She is an excellent teacher that cares for her students and always makes sure that she is clear and understood while teaching. She's super sweet and will make your day 100% better.

Easily one of my favorite instructors at CFCC. She makes the class interesting and keeps you engaged in the material. If you take good notes then the class will be a breeze. She tells you what is going to be on the test and reviews the day before. You will actually learn something in her class. I would definitely take another one of her classes.

Awesome teacher! So funny and straightforward. Take this if you're good at note taking (writing whatever is on the board) and studying. Her reviews tell you exactly what will be on the test, all you have to do is study. If you miss even one day you run the risk of missing A LOT of notes. Only take it if you plan on showing up.

This woman is hilarious!! Also very knowledge about the material she teaches! Other than her "tardy"/late policy of only one per semester, I have no complaints!

There are not exams in this class only 10 assignments and extra credit which makes it easy to get an A. However, Rachel is a tough grader so you need to read the articles and make clear arguments/responses. Her class is interesting and different from anything I have taken at CFCC. Also, every day you miss is a point off your final grade.

I absolutely love Rachael. Shes incredibly funny and easy to talk to. I would highly recomend taking her. If youre not the studying type then maybe this isnt for you. The tests are very straight forward and she goes over it before you take it. "Chalk, talk, lecture" which is what she calls it. Also she gives rewards for good attendence.

Racheal is the best professor I've had. I recommend anyone who needs humanities credits take her 220 class. The textbook is about $0.01 on Amazon and there's only one assignment a week based on the articles. Really easy, plus I actually learned a lot and had fun. Turns your view of the world on it's head and makes you a better person IMO.

Rachel is the best professor at CFCC. I will remember her forever. The passion she shows when she teaches us amazing and she makes you want to be passionate too. I have taken all of her classes and I am sad I can not take her again. If you want to be inspired , learn a lot and have fun doing so this class is for you.

Lectures are super interesting and she is very laid back. It is difficult not to get an A. Highly recommend.

Cultural Ant online is a breeze. Super straight forward. Read the article and answer critical thinking questions. The topics are SOninteresting. The discussion boards help prepare you for the assignment that is due. Every time I emailed Prfessor SatZman she got back to me in 24 hours... easy A if you do the work

Rachel is truly the best teacher at CFCC. This class has changed the way I see the world. There are NO TEST. all you do it read a short article and answer about 5 questions. Class discussions and small group discussions on the topics are how she organizes the class. I highly recommend taking her classes face to face vs online. She is amazing

Professor Satzman is truly one of those people who has changed my life. Cultural Anthropology forces you to see the world from perspectives you never knew existed. Rachel is funny and brilliant. This class changed my major. No tests, reading and class discussion... highly recommend

Rachel is an amazing teacher! Her lectures are great but the whole class is mostly lectures. Grade depends on 3 tests and participation. Tests are easy, DO NOT SKIP REVIEW DAYS! She will pitch her travel service during class. I signed up on one of her tours before I was in the class and went on the trip after, I don't recommend travelling with her

Rachel was awesome! She really helps you understand the material in her amazing, relatable lectures. She is very high energy so I wouldn't suggest taking her in the morning. There are weekly assignments do which mostly includes db's and overviews of passages.

Let it be known, she's a very caring professor loves all the students. Treats all the students the same not the way of appearance . I would highly recommended her to anyone she's funny, sweet,caring just all around great, and for the person who said to many personal stores thats very hateful she makes class fun not just all about the subject

Her personality is truly incredible and she is on role model level status. If I could've take Cultural with her this semester I would have but I will be back when my schedule allows. Rachel is an incredible person. I realized all along that I naturally think from an anthropological pov & to have the validation that I'm not the only one is amazing. These classes will alter your mindset and will force you to grow as a person. I was able to take two classes with her and if given the opportunity would've loved to take more. 1000/10

She is so sweet. Genuinely such a good professor. I took this class on a wym for a credit and I have no regrets. She is such a wonderful professor and you can tell she’s passionate about the materials.

One of the best teachers ever. Wonderful attitude, enthusiastic, and clearly cares about her students. She is passionate about the content and really wants us to learn it the best way WE can. She is a total inspiration for any student that wants to learn. Wooo!

An essay is due every week. Essays are easy though and can be done in a few hours. She grades generously. no office hours but responds to emails promptly. So. Much. Writing. It's an easy class overall, recommend it to anyone looking for an easy A fr. On the other hand, I did not learn as much as I hoped, but that's ok.

I took Satzman for the spring semester of 2023, and I had zero negative experiences. In fact I am planning on taking her for ANT-220 this fall.

I took Professor Satzman for world civ in summer ‘24 and she was amazing. There was an essay or dicussion board due every week with lots of text reading. She assigned us thoughtful prompts so that we were able to connect to the text each week. Great teacher!
