Great professor, very invested in your success. Fair and fun, is able to get the very difficult material across in an effective manner.
Rachel is a very smart individual. I believe she really does know her stuff. But as a teacher, she is clueless. Her grading is completely arbitrary and she has been known to rank grades against those of other students in the class. She seems to play favorites and often disregards questions posed by anyone else.
she plays favorites; those who like here have codependency issues. her syllabus and expectations are wildly unclear, which is why people are codependent upon her. she has stated she knows of people's confusion, but is not planning on fixing it. tests questions are purposefully misleading. when you ask for help, she is brief and seems annoyed
This teacher refuses to make her grading policies clear by giving her students a rubric. She prefers to keep her grading subjective. Her grading is very inconsistent & conflicts with grades given to other favored students. Some of the material given on exams is surprising i.e. putting many diagrams on a multiple choice test with zero warning.
Rachel is very fair and even handed in her grading, I don't know what other posters are complaining about. She wants students to succeed, she is accessible and held several study groups for her classes on her own time. Her practicals are tough but I never got below a high B. Tests only on what she says in lecture, and are multiple choice.
Second time around was not the charm. Loved her for AP I, couldn't wait to be done with her by the end of AP II. Our class got exceptionally high scores and she seemed perplexed, even wrote her questions differently to try to trip us up. Didn't work, still got an A!
Rachel is an extremely difficult professor! I struggled with 80% of the class. I would feel confident after endless studying & end up not doing well on exams. It was very frustrating because her motto is "anything we talk about is free game for exams" and it is difficult to know what to study. She is a nice woman but beware of the HIGH expectations
Rachel is a great professor. There is a lot of content and it can be difficult but she really knows her stuff and wants you to succeed.
She doesn't give homeowrk and she doesn't curve anything. She is a stickler for in text citations.
Rachel is a great professor. The class is very difficult because its a lot of content to get across. You really have to put in a lot of study time but you will get a lot out of it. Rachel cares about her students but really can't make the class easier or the integrity of the class would be lost.
Best teacher I've had. Fair, organized, and I learned a lot.
I have a B.S. from CSU and am taking my nursing prereqs. Rachel is the best prof I have ever had. She cares about success, is hard but fair, and makes it interesting!
Best teacher I've ever had. Without a doubt - organized, honest, and great lectures!
Rachel made this class so great and she is passionate about the material. She was tough, but inspired me to apply to PA school, rather than medical lab technology. I am using what she taught me at PA school. Best teacher ever - very clear, quick and fair grader too. I took 201,202, and pathophysiology with her.
Best teacher I've ever had. She's funny, yet tough. Students have to work hard, but she is there to help. Her exams are fair and she is always there to help in lab too.
Took 201 and 202 with Rachel. She is down to earth and a good teacher. Highly recommend!
I also took 201 and 202 with Rachel. If she taught more classes, I'd take them even though I don't need anymore. You will work hard, but it was an amazing class. Best. Teacher. Ever.
Took 201 with Rachel and got a C because I had a lot of personal stuff going on. Retaking it this summer and I miss her! Fair, fun, organized, and so interesting. You will work hard and learn a lot but you will always know what to expect and there are no tricks or secrets.
I took 2 semesters with Rachel and didn't miss a class. I couldn't wait to go every day because she is so clear and makes it so interesting. Lots of real world examples and medical scenarios. Good humor. Fair and reasonable. Treats everyone equally and wants students to succeed but they do have to work! Loved these classes.
Rachel was an extremely hard teacher if you were not on her favorite list you will may not pas the class. She has special assignments that she will let you use on her test if you get a gold star , if your not her favorite you will not get a gold star. She is demeaning to some students. I had to withdraw from her class.
Rachel is an amazing teacher. She truly cares about everyone in the class. If you come to class and do the work, you will succeed and she is always there to guide you. Her real world examples make the material so much more understandable. No wonder her classes fill up lightning fast. I took both 201 and 202 with her.
One of the best teachers out there. Really passionate about the material. Clear teaching with no tricks. Really wants students to do well. Tough but fair. Make sure you go to class - exams are based on lectures.
Great teacher. Already signed up for 202 with Rachel. Wants everyone to succeed and has real world examples. Very organized and gives all powerpoints in advance.
Great teacher! Highly recommend! I got a C in the class but only because I had personal stuff that came up. She was really supportive and willing to help.
Great class, great teacher. Already signed up for A&P II for next semester. Very fair- no tricks.
Very difficult tests. Lectures are very basic and tests are written for experts so they do not really match up. By midterms half the class had dropped which was very discouraging. I really enjoy biology but could have used a teacher with an education background not just a science background.
Great class, great teacher, but you have to put in the time to learn the material and come to class. Otherwise, fair, great lectures. Some people dropped but they were ones that didn't come to class or study. Taking BIO202 with her in spring.
Amazing lectures. I learned so much from Rachel in 201 and 202.
Because of Rachel, I finally got basic chem and cell bio. She was kind and patient and never made students feel stupid. Helps us learn ways to remember anatomy like drawings, songs, mnemonics. Loved her class. Did better in here than general bio!
Great teacher- had 2 semesters. Always clear and helpful. Super smart and funny, cares about every student and makes an effort with everyone.
She makes it interesting. Her powerpoints are available to download so you can take notes on them. She does her best to help students understand the material. Best science teacher I've had. Not an easy class though - you need to study!
Rachel is the best professor I've ever had. She teaches from her powerpoints and her test questions are directly from information she teaches. It is a tough course, but she is clear. She is entertaining, funny, and engaging. She will answer any question you have and is always willing to take time to explain things if you ask. Phenomenal professor.
I'm in A&P I right now. Rachel is unlike any professor I've ever had. She is amazing! I love this class.
This class is tough but Rachel breaks it down and makes it interesting. Be ready to do the work - it is what it is, but she is the best prof out there. Most students follow her from class to class and her classes fill up fast.
Rachel somehow gets the whole class involved and makes every lecture fun. Love her style, nice person. Cares about each student. I never would have passed in another class. Be sure to go to class! She is the BEST!
You'd be smart to register early and take one of Rachel's classes. They fill up quicly for a reason - She is the best!
Tough teacher but I learned so much. She is fair, clear, and lectures are great. She does case studies in groups, which are actually pretty cool. I wish she taught more, I'd take every class she teaches. I now want to get a bachelor's degree in biology because of her.
Great teacher. She seems to really care about her students and does a number of differnt things to help us learn. Huge stickler on citations and you have to do the work, but you will be glad to do it because the class is so interesting. Great labs and Rachel helps immensely in lab. I'm already registered for A&P 2 in fall with her. Can't wait!
This class was so great. Rachel is the best teacher I've had. Our class had everyone from 16 to 60 and she made it a fun class for everyone. A&P is hard, but she breaks it down for you to make it easier to understand. I had her for 201 and 202. I've recommended her to everyone I know.
Several people recommended Rachel and I'm glad I listened. She is fair and down to earth. Funny too! She teaches you more than A&P, she makes you love it! You have to make sure to go to class, but you will look forward to it every day.
Wonderful teacher and cares about every student. Quick to grade and give feedback, straightforward tests and assignments. Everyone loves Rachel and her teaching. She tries to help you figure out how to study and what works for you. Great examples!
Such a great teacher! I took A&P 1 and 2 with Rachel. Got an A in both! She is by far the best teacher I had for prenursing classes.
I took 201 and 202 with Rachel. The semester is almost over and I am sad that she won't be my teacher anymore. Every student feels important, we ask lots of questions, lecture is so fun and interesting. You can't go wrong with her for a teacher and I will miss her classes. Work hard and you will do great!
Rachel only teaches pathophysiology online but she is so fast to respond and help. Interesting assignments. Everyone who did the work and stuck with it did well in class. Very clear instructions and helpful with lots of feedback every step.
I have always struggled with science and I went to Rachel's office hours every week all semester. She was patient and willing to explain everything. I never felt stupid and she cares about every studuent in the class. I worked hard and she encouraged me. All students love her. Tests on lectures. Great teacher.
Took time to get to know everyone in my class. Very interesting lectures and very fair. Great teacher.
Great teacher. Stickler for citations just like the other bio professors anywhere. Loved her lectures and am taking AandP 2 with her in the fall.
Knows her stuff and cares about everyone in class. Very clear on everything and willing to look at rough drafts of things. Awesome lectures and makes everything very understandable and interesting. She is a very nice person and wonderful teacher. Teaches from lecture material and lab has study guides on what will be on tests.
Go to lecture and work hard and you will do well. Rachel has one group project and its important to keep up with your lab notebook and not get behind. Rachel is clear and fair with no surprises. Great lectures every day and finds a way to make hard things easier to understand. She knew everyone's names within a week and had lots of relevant example
Best teacher ever. I was actually sad on the last day!
Online class, but Rachel is so helpful. She responds very quickly to every question and doesn't seem bothered, rather happy to help. Looks at rough drafts anytime before submitting. Very interesting discussions and papers on diseases and things that really matter. Fair grader, straightforward tests, very organized. Always available! Recommend!!!
Online class but met with me in person and on the phone for help. Amazing teacher and person. She is kind and helpful. Online is hard but she is organized and there very step of the way. I am taking a class with her in person next semester. Relevant and interesting information and cool class. She is supportive and respectful, gives examples.
Her requirements for her papers weren't very clear because the instructions were confusing. Not many of her students did well in this class. Wouldn't suggest taking her class online
Fast reponses and grading, organized. I'd take her classes again.
Took 116 online in summer. Very quick to respond and very helpful. Always willing to look at everything before you turn it in. WANTS to help students do well. Very organized and super interesting paper and project topics.
Discussions, 2 papers, 4 exams, and a project. Instructions are very clear and fair. I did well even in the summer. Responds very fast and was willing to give good feedback on everthing. You do have to read and learn on your own but papers and discussions help. I liked this class so much, I am changing my major!
Great class! Great teacher!
Wonderful teacher and knows her stuff. Straightforward and lectures are amazing! Best teacher I've had. She loves what she does and cares about her students, no mattter who you are.
I had Rachel for 201/201. I'm now in nursing school and ahead of the other students thanks to what I learned. Rachel's helpful study tips and analogies stick with you. Best teacher I've had. Really cares and very knowledgeable. she teaches you how to do well, not just in a&p. Not an easy A, you still have to work, but I got a's in both.
Highly recommend. Funny and interesting lectures and lab. Good class! I end up helping people in other classes because I really learn things in mine with Rachel.
Awesome and knowledgeable teacher that cares that her students get the information. Great lectures and tests on lecture info, so going to class is a must.
Rachel was one of the best teachers I have ever had! She is amazingly smart, structured in detail, and crystal clear in what you need to do and know. She knows when people are really dedicated to their education so you must really be in it to win it, but if that is you then you will learn so much from her and in a really fun and down-to-earth way.
Good lectures but the tests do not follow the lectures very well as she talks about other things in lecture and not the material that will be covered. Very hard tests!
Love this class, love this teacher! Gives amazing lectures and only tests from lecture. She includes lots of diseases, problems, etc to make things relevant and understandable. Lots of unique methods of teaching material like drawing, videos, making 3d models and news articles. This class isn't easy with anyone but Rachel makes you love it!
Wonderful experience. Knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Most of all, she is organized and fair! I wish she taught more classes - I'd take them all! You have to go to class if you want to do well.
Great online course! Rachel is very organized and fast to respond. Cool topics and not a ton of busy work. I learned a lot and thought it was really interesting even though I am not a science person or major.
While Rachel is an awesome teacher and her lectures are super engaging, her tests are really tough. She is a super nice person and great teacher but when your whole grade is based on 4 or 5 tests it's hard to maintain the grade you want in her class.
My first online class and a science one and it has been a great experience. Its really interesting, not too hard, and very straight forward. If you watch the schedule and participate and complete everything you'll do well! Great teacher with fast grading and fast replies.
Love, love, love this teacher. I learned so much and every day she'd have an article from the news that was about what we learned that day. Very organized and fair, super cool. Lectures are clear and awesome. Welcomes questions from students and she was always available for us. I worked hard but did well because I knew what was expected.
Rachel is a great and knowledgeable teacher. Class was interesting and she was always passionate and clear about class material. I learned so much in this class, more than I ever thought I could! She used lots of techniques to learn things, which helps so much! Everyone in class adored her and worked hard because they did.
BIO202 is a challenging class no matter the teacher. Rachel is great at making the topics fun and interesting. She gives real-world applications as examples & provides different ways of teaching (e.g. lecture, group work, drawing out concepts). Her tests reflect her lectures, so RECORD THEM. I would definitely take a class with Rachel again.
Content section is unorganized, her "news" section hasn't been updated in a month to reflect current class assignments. Grading feedback is near non existent and grading scale is unclear. i.e. no rubric.
Rachel is an amazing teacher and always availble for help. She is so knowledgeable and every lecture is fun, interesting, and organized. Tests and assignments are straightforward. The class isn't easy but if you put in the work, you will do well. Great activities to help learn the material every day and lecture ties with lab always.
Rachel is a wonderful, amazing teacher and VERY caring. Nobody wants you to do better than she does. She knows her stuff and teaches in a way that makes even tough stuff make sense.
Her tests really do not follow her lectures. Her lectures are fun but do not really pertain to the material closely.
Do not miss the chance to take your A&P classes with Rachel! She is super down to earth and her lectures are interesting and funny. She is not easy by any means, you will have to EARN your grade, but she is there to help in any way she can. She is also patient and fair. ACC is so lucky they have someone like her on staff.
This class is very interesting, and not too difficult if you do what you're supposed to. She is extremely strict on her plagiarism policy. I had the date missing on ONE of my citations and she gave me a 0 for the entire paper. She doesn't seem very willing to help out, although she claims to be in her bio. Not a horrible teacher, just strict.
I thought that this class was very organized and not too hard. She responded and graded very quickly and everything was straight forward. Very manageable in its content and amount of work even in the summer. I felt like I knew Rachel and felt her enthusiasm for the class even though it was online. I'd definitely recommend.
This department's syllabus is highly confusing to say the least. Grading criteria and rubric changes without warning.
LOVE Willard. Amazing teacher but prepared to study. I wish I would have taken her for all the classes she teaches, she's an amazing prof that really cares about your success and is willing to help you out no matter what. Lectures are so interesting and informational. she ties lecture into HESI, NCLEX and other nursing courses like Patho.
You will work in this class but you WILL LOVE IT. I enjoyed every single class this semester. Amazing teacher and very available. Very funny and knowledgeable. She always brought in ways to learn, real world stuff, and made us love the class. Highly, highly recommend!!!
Rachel offers to help any time and she means it. I went to her office hours to get help all the time and she was happy to. She gives the best lectures and is funny with lots of tips on how to remember things and simplify things. It isn't easy but it feels like it is because it is interesting and she cares a lot. Her cadaver lab was amazing!
Rachel is a phenomenal professor. I am preparing for Nursing school and her tests are exactly what the HESI exams are like. She is so funny and a very fair grader. I have had her twice and would take her for every class if I could.
I really enjoyed this class even though online is hard for me. Assignments were so interesting and I could apply the information to my life. Tests are based totally on the reading and her averages are high. Picky about citations but offers to look at papers in advance so there's no reason to do badly. Discussions, papers, tests. Very organized.
Responds lightning fast and willing to look over work before submitting. So helpful even though this is online. Very organized and interesting assignments. I loved this class!
Rachel's class was really enjoyable. Her lectures were relatable and funny. She offers some extra credit. Would take her again
Rachel was an amazing professor. Her lectures were very easy to follow, which is awesome since her test are based on them. Rachel has very clear expectations and seems to be very passionate about what she does. She is willing to help with any questions and is very accessible.
I almost forget to take notes, her lectures are so interesting. Very clear, organized, and no nonsense. Treats everyone fairly and has lots of good study tips and activities. I wish she taught all of the nursing prerequisite classes because she loves teaching and her students and is always there for you. You just have to put in the work.
She is clear about what she wants from you. don't show up late. don't text in class. Pay attention in lecture. Her written tests are straightforward. Practicals are way harder. you need to dedicate a lot of time studying for them. I didn't particularly care for her personality but she was really helpful to anyone that needed it from what I saw.
Amazing teacher, incredibly knowledgeable, down to earth and super sweet, the class is very hard and you will have to WORK for your grade (pay attention, participate), tests are clear and straightforward, no curves or study guides, clear grading criteria and very strict on plagiarism, very helpful and open to all questions
This class is very organized, enjoyable and not too hard. I liked all of the topics and the teacher is a quick grader and responds fast. I visited her in person and she was happy to see me and knew my name. Very reasonable and interesting class with good feedback and interesting. Best online class you could take. Not a ton of busy work.
Professor Willard's class was awesome. She kept it engaging and easy to understand, and never made anyone feel stupid for asking questions. She is also super funny. That being said, you have to earn your grade in this course, as the practicals are difficult, so be prepared to put in the time and attend class. 10/10 taking her next semester!
Probably my least favorite prof at ACC, she is actually an OK teacher but her personality leaves a lot to be desired. You can tell she thinks very highly of herself and often came off as rude and condescending. Follow her rules because she is not afraid to call you out in front of the whole class. Practicals were the most difficult thing IMO.
What she considers plagiarism is ridiculous! Its a science class and yet she grades references and the material like an upper level English professor. She failed a few students over plagiarism yet her rubric and her examples were not clear on what she considered plagiarism. She also had no respect for commitments to outside classes.
Honestly one of the best teachers ever. She is professional and expects you to be too. If you act like grown ups you will never have a better learning experience. She keeps the class room fun and laid back so everyone can participate. She also is very flexible with how she teaches and will do all she can to help you learn in the best way possible.
I really enjoyed her lectures and exams were specific to those, definitely need to invest time for this class to memorize everything, but this is anatomy and physiology! I do feel like a lot of material fo labs were "find info yourself" but its doable, just highly time consuming. Overall she is great!
The class is entirely lecture-based and there was A TON of memorization and a lot of weight was placed on the 4 exams and 2 practicals. Despite this, I learned more in this class than I have in any other. Her lectures are engaging and she tries adapts to what works for the class. She knew everyone's names and has a great sense of humor. Highly Rec
She is really nice on zooms, and helpful if she replies to emails on time, but the tests rocked me and everyone I talked to from the class. It is during a pandemic so class moved from hybrid to full online, but regardless.. I got A's on assignments and projects and discussions, but tanked my entire grade because of the three tests. Take some1 else
Rachel is an amazing prof. I've had Rachel 3 times and I would choose her every time if she taught all the courses I needed. Her lectures are amazing and informative, I always feel like I'm learning to my highest abilities. Memorization is important. Her exams are very hard but you will do well if you study a ton. Her grading is also very fair
The worst professor I have ever had. I don't know what class the other students took, but sounds like a completely different teacher than the one we had. Everyone in our study group disliked her. I have had all A's prior to her class. I study for 8+ hours a day, primarily science classes, and I know the material. Barely got a B in her class.
For the love of God find another professor. Unclear deadlines, trick questions, the tests are only focused around her lecture with little to no professor engagement or response. Everyone I asked including myself did not pass despite being in the field & knowing the material find someone else. Save your GPA & money. Expect 30+ hrs of work a week.
She's a nice person, but her tests do not accumulate to the lecture even if you take notes for the exam, and they're mostly tricked questions. There is a lot of homework, but she will still give you a zero on the assignment if you do have technical difficulties. The other issue is that you may think that the exam is easy but it will tank your grade
Rachel is AMAZING. She does the best lectures via zoom (pandemic) and then in labs (face to face) and records lectures ON TOP OF IT ALL. Her exams are clear and nothing unexpected. Straight forward multiple choice. She went out of her way to meet with us in the library and the whole class LOOOOVED her. She's also very understanding and funny.
Love Rachel. During the pandemic we did labs in person and then she did tons of fun activities to help us learn via zoom and posted great lectures on every chapter. She did all the work herself and was concerned about us learning. The whole class did really well even with the onlijen stuff. Shes committed to teaching and awesome at it
Easy class but very interesting. She is very straight forward and organized. Would take again anytime. Always there to help. 100%
She is an amazing teacher and has great analogies and tips on learning. She is a good quick grader and knows her stuff. Shes very understanding and makes an effort to get to know everyone and make the info interesting. I took this class with someone else and failed but actually loved this course with Rachel.
Very test and practical heavy. I felt as though the lectures do not prepare you for the exams. Exams are 100 questions and you only get 60 minutes. Lots of pictures and you have to ID what's in the picture and what it's functions are. Be prepared to spend A LOT of time each week doing work for this class.
Rachel is the BOMB - her lectures and the way she explains things are amazing. I can't wait to take her in person for 202. Even in pandemic stuff, she was incredible. Our whole class was rocking all semester because of her!
I loved this class even in the pandemic. It was online but she met with so many of us via zoom and recorded all lectures which most profs dont do. You have to know your stuff when you take the tests by watching lectures and studying lab things. Some people dropped because there wasnt time to look up things during exams but I think its pretty fair.
I learned so much from Rachel last semester. You couldn't ask for a better online teacher. She was fast at emails and met with me via zoom several times. She recorded every lecture and exams were based on those. Clear and easy to understand and her lecture style is amazing. I wish I could have her in regular class if online is this good!!!
Rachel is a great online teacher because she's very organized and gives lots of helpful things like her own recorded lectures which is more than any other online teacher I've had. She's a fast grader and responds quickly. Things have clear guidelines and expectations. Highly recommend over any other online prof. Thank you Rachel!
Online classes are hard, summer classes are hard, and both of these factors rolled into one course makes it doubly hard. Rachel didnt make it any more difficult than it had to be (i.e., the class wasnt made harder due to poor instruction, lack of communication, or poor organization). The learning environment she creates is fantastic!
Rachel is the best instructor Ive had at ACC. Having been a teacher I can empathize with just how difficult the last few semesters could have been for our teachers, however the load seemed to fall on the students shoulders for many other classes. Rachel seemed to handle it with no small amount of grace in her organization, communication, and clarit
It is very clear that Rachel loves her job. She can get you excited about a very complex subject and makes learning fun. I wish I would have had her for A&P1, I would have learned a lot more.
She always answers your questions in a timely manner and is nice when it comes to answering your questions.
Creating a 100 question exam wherein you must spell all words correctly in the short answer box and then only permitting students an hour on the exam is just asking for your test takers to speed through and miss points solely because they felt rushed. Teacher also has arbitrary due dates that are poorly communicated. I did well in spite of her.
Recorded lectures which is not common in an online course, very organized, responded quickly and met me via zoom. Lectures were great and tests straight forward. Even had study guides for lab practicals. She's the best.
Rachel wants you to succeed and does so many things to help you learn. She's amazing in knowledge and enthusiasm and is also organized and caring.
I really enjoyed this class with Rachel. I looked forward to going every day. She was organized and really worked hard to help us learn the material and apply our knowledge. I'm signed up to take her for A&P 2 and I can't wait.
This online A&P was a well oiled machine. I felt like it was a real class, it was so engaging. RAchel even recorded lectures which made you feel like you were really there listening. There was no lack of help or expertise and tons of ways to learn. LOVE her.
Best teacher ever. I loved 202 with her - great lectures and very fair. Very considerate teacher but funny too!
Most of this is just term memorization. Her exams are mostly what she says in lecture, so I'd definitely suggest recording her lectures and listening back. She's not the most approachable if you're struggling in her class but it's pretty clear that she knows/is passionate about what she's teaching
Her class format is confusing and a lot to get used to. She does reply to emails but on her own time. Her directions are vague and will give you 0s and claim plagiarism for minor mistakes, because I mean we're at a community college, so we should know who to write scholarly scientific journals and citations without direction or examples.
I would take every class with Rachel if I could. Very organized and fair. Cares about everyone and how they are doing. I loved her lectures.
Rachel was the best teacher and online class I've ever had. She even met with me via zoom several times. Everything was fair and clear - she recorded her own lectures to help with material and was always available for help. I loved her class and felt like it was a real face to face experience because of her.
Professor Willard is amazing at her job she teaches well and puts a lot of intent and effort behind each week!
Rachel was positive and enthusiastic every day. She made me believe in myself when I couldnt. She is an amazing teacher and human being. She's the best teacher I've had and I have a B.S. in micro.
No guideline for expectations on grading - no rubric. Can't review completed quizzes/exams without paying for Quizlet separately. Not well organized on material being covered vs assignments - assignments are all over the place and don't follow the reading or lectures. MEETINGS REQUIRED REGARLESS OF ONLINE COURSE
Her good reviews are for in-person classes, negatives are for online. Choose wisely.
How are you going to say .com's and .org's can't be used for references, yet you send us a .com site to "jump start our research...."? Only get a week or two to produce 10+ page papers. This is just a pre-req! 90% of this info isn't even needed in the field. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
Great online teacher. Very organized and responsive and she even posted her own recorded lectures to help with the material. She looks at rough drafts and answers email quickly. The class was easy to do well but you do have to study and know the material. There are good study guides and activities she wrote. Much better than other online classes!
I could not have asked for a better teacher. Rachel is amazing and cares about her students and A&P. She made it relevant to my life and job. I highly recommend her over all other teachers. I love her lectures and her exams and assignments are very fair.
I needed this class for my EMT program. It was so relevant to my career and interesting. Rachel is very organized and made the class really interactive and fun for an online class. I loved it!
Beware: D's were the exam average. Exams are timed, and there are too many questions for the allotted time. Students are shown a picture of a bone and, without the context of region in the body or proximity to other bones, expected to identify it with no spelling errors. Rachel's lectures are not helpful. Correspondence with her was spotty at best.
I'm not sure what people are complaining about. I think that as long as you follow and do the work, this class is awesome and definitely easy to do well. But you do have to do have to do work. Study guides are given for practicals and exams are based on the posted lectures. Homework helps with both. Great teacher!
Fantastic teacher. I wish I could have had her for gen bio and A&P I.
This class was amazing. I am so glad I took it - even online it was fun with great case studies and creative ways to show what you know. Prof H is very organized and a quick grader.
Best professor I've ever had. Don't hesitate to take her for anything!
Very very engaging and fun class. Rachel is organized and grades and responds fast. I loved this class so much and all of it was relevant to my future.
This course is VERY test heavy. Tests are worth 100 points while there are a handful of 5-10 pt assignments here and there. If you don't do well on the tests you won't pass. Rachel is very fair and reasonable though. Good lectures and she is a very fast grader. If there is something on the test that she didn't lecture on, she will throw it out.
She is very smart and knows her stuff. Very hard grader and does not have a lot of mercy. Rule obeyer and did not have much respect for my accommodations that were needed. Got easily frustrated when I asked for help. Tests did not reflect on what was talked about in class. I would not take her again.
She is the most caring and wonderful teacher I've ever had and all students agree. She's fair and thoughtful and teaches you ways to study and do things that I've used in other courses. Her classes fill up fast for a reason so register quickly. I had her for online and face to face and she is great in both.
I took A&PI online with Rachel and A&P2 in person. She is an excellent, professional and fair teacher in both. She provides more than you could need and is very understanding and VERY organized. She met with me many times make sure I understood things. I've never had such a knowledgeable, passionate and caring teacher. SHES AWESOME. Everyone agrees
I took her online for A&P I and it was the most involved and caring I've had in any teacher and it was ONLINE! She records lectures and provides help every step if you need it. Exams are either from lectures or the study guide and lab activities. Clear, organized and willing to meet, emails back so fast. I wish she taught every course at ACC.
I took her because of the reviews here and I am so glad I did. She's an amazing and organized professor and knows the material. You still have to work and its a hard class but she is the best teacher you could ask for.
A lot of really cool and relevant assignments to my field. Easy class if you just put in the work for the assignments and labs. Online labs were really great and I learned a lot for paramedicine.
I admit that I didn't study enough because of personal stuff but it wasn't because of Rachel. She is amazing and did everything she could to help and give me things I needed to do well in the class and study. Really great lectures and very caring person. She knows the material really well and is an experienced professor that is really cool.
Had her for 2101 online and then 2102 in person. Very approachable and organized and knowledgeable. I learned a lot and wasn't bogged with busy work. She treated us like adults and cared a lot. I looked forward to her lectures every day and recorded ones for online. She's the best.
I would take every class with Rachel if I could. This woman knows her stuff and holds the line and you learn A&P for what you're moving on to. But she is so kind and caring and her lectures are fantastic. I look forward to them every day. She also helps us to learn techniques and explains how to study in the course which set me up for A&P2.
I admit that it was my fault that I took too many classes and worked full time and coudnt put enough time in to the class but Rachel was a great teacher. I looked forward to her lectures and tips on how to study and remember things.. She is wonderful and very understanding and helped me outside of class all the time.
Great online teacher for A&P1. She was very organized and a fast grader and posted lecutres. I also met with her through zoom to go over things. 100% recommend.
Dr. Harrison is a national treasure. A&P is tough but I can not say enough about how great she is at breaking things down into simple ways to understand. Great lectures, knowledgeable, cool activities - overall 1000% best teacher I've had in my prenursing journey. Everyone loved her.
A pleasant person, but not overly patient nor empathetic. Your grade depends heavily on exam results and hardly anything else; once you do poorly it's hard to climb your way back up. Our class average was always a D and this never seemed to spark concern from her.
Very wonderful and caring professor that is knowledgeable in teaching and A&P. Exams are very straightforward and she gives study guides for practicals. Not a lot of busy work so you just have to know the material. She came to study groups and helped in any way she could.
I absolutely loved this class and learned a lot that I can apply to paramedic school. A great mix of actual application of the material, discussions, case studies, and fun creative assignments. Dr. Harrison makes sure you know how to cite and write papers and is very supportive. I met with her on Zoom and I'm an online student. Awesome teacher.
Really great experience with this professor and the course. Reasonable amount of work and Dr. Harrison was quick to respond. She even looked at rough drafts before I submitted things. Wonderful.
Rachel is one of the best teachers I've had. She knew the material well and gave great lectures. She seemed to really care about her students and the topics.
lectures were not good."neurons do neurony things" very test heavy. homework and lab assignments were hardly worth anything for your grade and tests and practicals were HARD. After taking a few science classes at ACC, it seems like all the teachers used the same exact course shell, syllabus, tests, and practicals. wouldn't recommend ACC sci classes
Rachel is the very best that there is. She knows the material and gives fun lectures. She looks at rough drafts and provides lots of material to help with studying for practicals. Exams are clear and right from her lectures. I had her for A&P 1 and 2 and I can tell you that she is the one to take. Best professsor ever.
Rachel goes above the normal online class and posts lectures, videos, study guides, and meets with students by zoom and in person. Her exams were written by her and not just stock questions and they were clear and out of her lectures. Very nice person and great class. Practicals are hard, but you do have to learn the material so it's fair.
Dr. Harrison was a great professor! I took her online BIO1016 course and found it very interesting. She is knowledgable and willing to help when needed.
Good professor & knowledgable about the material. Tests & practicals are very hard. A LOT of work & most of it isnt for many points so very little room for error. Grading criteria were not clear on many assignments but she lets you submit rough drafts for feedback. If you need an A in this course, I would not pick this professor.
The teacher is very professional and very well at teaching the class always quick to respond to emails and very willing to spend extra time with students
Online class but Rachel was always there posting, had lectures available, exams were done by her NOT the book so it lined up with lectures. Practicals were tough but gives study guides so you just have to study. Caring and respected teacher and met with me many times. I highly recommend her for online and only with I could take her in person.
Professor Harrison is a caring, knowledgeable teacher who makes A&P engaging. I found unstuck study and the study guides she provides super helpful for exam prep. Lectures and practicals are challenging but manageable with dedication. Highly recommend this class.
I had a really great experience with this teacher. She's prepared, organized, and caring and provides lots of ways to study and learn. 10/10 recommend.
Does not accept late work
This professor will grade your discussion boards unfairly with unwarranted bias. She will accuse students of plagiarism when sources are provided in APA format and will accuse them of not meeting word count requirements when they are objectively met. Extremely unprofessional and violates education board policies 3-120, 19-60. How is this allowed?
I took this online but felt Rachel in class constantly helping. Lots of feedback and availability. She requires citations and things on time but helps and is reasonable. Expectations are clear and course was organized and fun. It's hard to find an online teacher that is present. She even recorded lectures.
I think the good reviews were written by the professor herself honestly. Her expectations are too high and she grades unfairly.
Patient and caring - yes she requires citations. Welcome to college! Workload is manageable and clear. Rachel looks at rough drafts and always three to help. Great class
You're tricking people into taking your class by writing these reviews to your convenience Mrs.Harrison. That is so low! No student in their right mind is going to come on here and celebrate your expectations on citations. You were accusing us of plagiarism whilst requiring us to cite other material on our personal discussion posts? Be for real.
Good class set up and teacher. I met with her a few times for help by zoom.
I do not recommend this professor at all. She does not offer relevant course lectures or study guides as they do not cover the test material. She does not offer feedback about assignments or grades so if you got a question wrong it is up to you to find out why. She does not like being contacted either, so don't expect any help from this teacher.
Clear assignments and consistent grading. No big finals or projects and everything was manageable. She posted her own lectures and met with study groups online and helped me individually a few times. Quick emailer and seems to care. WOULD RECOMMEND.
Rachel has been one of the best Biology teachers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Her material was very engaging and made me critically think. She was very responsive and gave great feedback to assignments and discussion posts. I feel like the classwork was very doable even while taking multiple classes.
I loved Rachel as my teacher for this class, she is really down to earth and knows A&P and medicine. I felt like she cared about me personally even in an online class. She is an amazing lecturer and provided recorded lectures and excited about what she is talking about. I highly recommend taking her classes, even though A&P is tough.
Extremely clear-cut expectations for a granular and rigorous class. Rachel truly cares for her students and was easily accessible out of class, even for spur-of-the-moment lab questions, which was verrrry helpful for an online course. Lots of devotion and work, obviously, but she provides an abundance of resources and guides to help. Spectacular.
Honestly, the workload is easy and straight forward but she'll do everything in her power to make you suffer and resubmit your work multiple times. Probably a lonely cat lady with no real friends. Don't get me wrong I like cats, just not devils like her. Her life is miserable and she directs it towards you. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER.
