Rachel Mohr is great. Shes enthusiastic about forensics. She is the only professor who teaches Fis 201 though. But even if she wasn't I'd still take her. Tests can be tough so I'd read the textbook but he lectures are always fun and interesting. Would take the class again. the attendance points and clicker questions help with bonus points
Very fun class. She loves forensics and makes the classes really fun. She's pretty clear in lectures but tests can still be really difficult. I recommend using the textbook which was probably my mistake.
Probably the least understanding human in exsistance... But she is hilarious
She is definitely funny but test questions are vague and she is rude
I took Dr. Mohr my freshman year just to get a GEC out of the way. A few weeks into class, her lectures and enthusiasm about Forensics made me realize I wanted to do that for the rest of my life. Her exams are pretty difficult, but if you come to class, you get clicker points just for showing up.
She's funny at first but then it just gets immature and high schoolish. Her tests are tough if you don't study, sometimes when you do study. Go to class attendance is all bonus, 1 point each day. Gives other opportunities for bonus, pop quizzes are usually an easy 10/10 but she doesn't announce them. Not a hard grader, but you work for it.
You get a point each day for attending so that adds up. I found test to be pretty hard and the questions were tricky. Besides tests, pop quizzes and virtual labs there arent really any other grades. She is a funny lady and the class is interesting but there is a lot of info. She gave up to 50 points of extra credit and doing that really helped out.
Dr. Mohr doesn't care about her students at all. She makes immature jokes that really take away from the seriousness of the class. I am a forensics major and love forensics, but if I hadn't already loved forensics Dr. Mohr's class sure as hell wouldn't have made me want to take more forensics. If I can help it I will never take her classes again!
Great professor all around, funny and entertaining, does a well job explaining material, challenging on tests
Was going to take a forensics minor until I took this class. She is very immature, to the point it is obnoxious. She assumes students understand material they do not. Tests do not assess knowledge of material but whether she can trick you into picking the wrong answer. Also her class will put you to sleep every day. Do not take this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!! All she cares about is rushing through the material to make sure she gets it all in. Doesn't care whatsoever about students grade. I pushed and pushed all semester all to come out with a 69.2%. Asked if there was anyway it could be bumped up to the 70% so I'd at least get credit for the class. Nope. Pathetic!!!!!!!
Took online so not much interaction with her. She pushed for us to talk with each other about course material in order for us to better understand. Overall didn't have a problem with her and I am still perusing a minor in forensic science.
This class was intense, but totally manageable. If you read the chapters, and do the homework, you will pass this class. Read her test questions carefully, sometimes they are tricky.
She covers way to much material in a class period, the tests are never like the study guides or exam practices. It could be a interesting class but she's the only one who teaches it.
Shes a great person and great teacher but her tests ae VERY hard and she warns you about that. If you study and know the things on her study guides youll be fine. She even hosts review sessions before tests. If you want and A you can get it if you work for it.
She's a great person and the great teacher but her tests ae VERY hard and she warn you about that. If you study and know the things on her study guides you'll be fine. She even hosts review sessions before tests. If you want and you can get it if you work for it. She even has options for bonus points like chapter quizzed on book chapters
Dr. Mohr is hilarious and her class was personally my favorite because of how entertaining the lectures are. Ecampus quizzes and virtual labs are easy if you have a textbook available and honestly you can just Google the answers. Her exams are very challenging because she uses cases studies so it's applied material, not just regurgitated knowledge.
You will have weekly quizzes and online labs to complete. The quizzes will be out of your textbook and will have to do with your lecture. If you don't show up to class you will fail. The exams are hard, you will need to know the "Need to Know" at the start of every lecture. She will give you the power points before every lecture.
If you take this course be prepared to STUDY. She offers a lot of extra credit. So make sure to do as much extra credit as you can because believe me, it can make or break your grade in this class. Attendance is mandatory so go because sometime times she will give out bonus points just for showing up.
Dr. Mohr is very good teacher, but her exams are very difficult. I believe that it is very difficult to earn an A in the course. Go to class because if you answer all the clicker questions, you get bonus points for each day you go. The exams are NOT curved and they are very difficult. You can earn up to 50 bonus points by the end of the course.
I love Dr. Mohr. I have had her for FIS 201 and FIS 293. She gives hard tests so you have to study and pay attention in order to do well. She uses clickers for attendance every class. Although she grades tough, she gives extra credit opportunities. She knows a lot about forensics so if you're a forensics major, she's a great person to learn from.
The perfect person to teach this course, she is hilarious and makes the class enjoyable. However, due dates are so confusing and hard to remember for the online quizzes and labs due every week, don't forget those they add up! I suggest getting a planner and writing the due dates of them all down at the beginning of the semester, using the syllabus.
This class is harder than it needs to be, she rushes through everything and her attendance policy is really annoying. If you don't have to take this class avoid it!!
Overall, she is a great professor who is very enthusastic about foresnics. The quizzes are online and easy. Vitrual labs can be hard if you do not understand. Study for tests to pass, you won't pass them if you do not study. Go to class to earn your clicker points it will help your grade and any extra credit she hands out. You will need it.
Took Dr. Mohr online and fro what I hear I had a much easier time than those who took her in person. Lots of assignments quizzes, discussions, due every week.
Dr Mohr is a super fun professor. She plays music at the beginning of class, and is humorous in class. She's definitely knowledgeable and I'm glad I get know learn from her. I really enjoyed having her as a professor!
Dr. Mohr is very passionate, and her lectures are very fun and understandable. Her exams make you apply your knowledge to scenarios, so they can be tricky. If you study, attend every lecture, and apply yourself you will really enjoy this class! Her weekly assignments are not bad, but you definitely need to make time for this class.
Great teacher hard class most students pass the class with a C
I absolutely hated her. She is the worst person and is so rude. She is not approachable and tries to trick you on the quizzes. She has so many typos and errors on everything. She is insensitive and tries to be funny but it just makes me uncomfortable. She is rude in every email response. I wish I had taken the online version and don't want her agai
Tests on a very specific parts of her lectures and textbook materials. Honestly, most of the time, you see questions on her tests that are not related to forensics. Doesn't sync information and relys on different sources with different information (textbook, PowerPoint, personal notes). Her weekly quizes are made to trick you. No useful feedback.
Attendance is for bonus points, which increased my grade to an A. She posts the lectures online before class, and basically just reads off the slides. The material is interesting, but this class will make or break your choice of a forensic career. Overall, Dr. Mohr is very nerdy, yet intense. The exams always include references to Marvel/Star Wars.
Very hard class! Don't recommend taking as an elective like I did
Professor Mohr is very passionate about forensic science. She believes that her students should pick up the material as quickly as she does. The exams and quizzes in her class are very tricky and she does not give credit at all for questions that you partially get right on the quiz. A lot of information on the exams that she does not cover in class
Not terrible, not the best. Just about every single question on quizzes and tests were trick questions. She designs her questions to make you narrow it down to 2 choices, and then makes it near impossible to decide/get the correct one. Looooots of heavy reading, absolutely need the textbook to pass. Doesn't tell you what you got wrong on quizzes.
Professor Mohr is very passionate about what she does! However, she teaches very quickly and expects you to catch on. She was very rude in all of her emails and does not like to try to help you out in any way. I took this as a last minute resort and I regret it!!!! I do not recommend taking this class or any that she teaches.
Do yourself a favor. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS/PROFESSOR. I was warned before hand too and didnt listen. Definitely wish I did....
I didn't have any real complaints until the end of the semester. Work is due on Mondays and Fridays at class time, which was 1:30 PM. However, there was absolutely no understanding nor leeway when I showed up not more than two minutes late for our fin, was rudely dismissed and told to take a zero. Went from a B to a D which has decimated my GPA.
Dr. Mohr is tough. If you aren't willing to work and you struggle academically, you probably won't do very well in this class. That being said, she is a great professor who is knowledgable, funny, and fair. The material is extremely interesting, and if you enjoy cringey humor, then you should enjoy this class. Go to class for extra credit.
Mohr has lots of information to present in one semester to present to a lot of students. It is hard to make sure that everyone can keep up but she moves at a breakneck pace and does not stop for anyone. Watching the lecture videos when studying is more helpful than studying the slides because it cuts out her corny and distracting meme type jokes
She's an outstanding professor when it comes to personal knowledge. She will answer all of your questions to the best of her ability and is always available to help you review material, exams, you name it. Her class was easily the most entertaining class I've ever had. However, she does not care at all about your grade.
Get ready for a lot of work. There are weekly homework quizzes that come from readings in the textbook. The exams are difficult because you need to actually apply the information learned to case studies. I didnt have any problems until the end of the semester where she became a lot more mean and tough. Regardless, shes entertaining.
She's an awesome professor. Diffucult class.
This class is a weed out class for forensic majors so it is purposely very challenging. She has about 350 freshmen students and about 50 make it into the program by junior year. Her class does require a lot of outside knowledge and work to do well on her exams. She is known to not be very nice and approachable but her lectures are entertaining
One of my favorite classes and her lectures are very interesting and fun. Make sure you check the syllabus tho bc she wont tell you when things are due. Also shes very unapproachable and rude outside of class. The book is necessary to pass the weekly quizzes and tests
Avoid this professor at all costs. Makes everything harder for no reason and doesn't care if students succeed. Take a semester off if she's your only option, NOT worth it.
Dr. Mohr was a fun introduction to WVU's forensic science dept. She is hilarious but will command your respect when needed, and takes things very seriously (like exams). She brings a lot of hands-on examples to show the class which is super helpful, and has a vast knowledge of forensics. Take participation and e.c. seriously & you'll do well!
Hated this class! Attendance is bonus points but if you miss what she SAYS you won't get the info to do well. The only reason I got an A was the bonus points offered. Info was not consistent, what she says is not in the slides, and info in the textbook isn't in lecture slides. She is very confusing and was in disdain when I asked her a question.
She is extremely rude and doesn't care if her students succeed or not. She is not understanding or approachable, She does everything in her power to trick her students. Looking back, I would rather have peeled off my fingernails than have taken that class
Dr. Mohr really knows her stuff. Her tests are very difficult (I think the highest grade I ever received was a 70) but she offers a lot of extra credit. She is very nerdy. She can be strict at times but will also blast Bohemian rhapsody before class and make everyone sing along. The class is built to be difficult but Dr. Mohr tries to make it fun.
Dr Mohr will give you your grade for an exam, and then adjusted the grades so they are worse afterwards even though the grade you got is the correct one. She doesn't explain why you lost points after she put it in the grade book. For example, a friend of mine got their grade changed from an 81 to a 54. Bonus points help but the loss feels unjust.
Absolutely spectacular, definitely recommend
Dr. Mohr was very helpful. She answered everyone's questions well and did her best to make sure we were prepared for the exams. I had a bit of a learning curve trying to figure out the best approach in this class. My advice: take good notes, watch the lectures, and study HARD. You need to know the material well if you want to do well on the exams.
After reading a lot of Professor Mohr's reviews, I was scared. However, I did not experience these terrible ratings. She is a fair grader and offers a lot of extra credit. The lectures interesting, and I found her to be a great professor. Make sure you pay attention and take notes. There are weekly textbook quizzes, but they are not terrible.
I took this class as an elective because I have always had a passion for forensics; however, I immediately regretted my decision. The test were short answer and fill in the blanks. Lectures and study guides did not help you prepare for the exams.
Lots of work, but if you watch the lectures and read the chapters youll be fine.
Hardest professor I have ever had. Modules are easy to navigate and lecture quizzes are helpful HOWEVER the exams are very difficult and have nothing to do with the quizzes. She doesn't care about students grades and the extra credit is not even worth doing because you will only get one point. I do not recommend taking this class!!!
By far my favorite professor at WVU. Made the class interesting and interactive, and offered a big handful of extra credit opportunities if you needed them. She genuinely cares about each student and will help with anything if needed.
Excellent lecturer. She's very entertaining and makes the class enjoyable to attend.
I loved Dr. Mohr, she is hilarious and relatable, her grading is just tough. You will probably have to study for hours to get a decent grade on her exams. I failed every exam but still passed with a B, may be close to impossible to get an A but overall great class, tons of information. (I took this class completely online btw)
Great professor! Exams can be very difficult and requires a lot of thought, but questions are still quite interesting. I took this class as a prerequisite and I'm so glad that I did. You need to study hard and put in a lot of time to get an A. Definitely do every extra credit assignment and go to office hours often. Fun class and made some friends.
At first I really enjoyed being in her class, she was funny and interactive, but not so much anymore. She became more rude and less engaging with her students, not looking out for their best interests.
Lectures are never boring, to say the least! The material of this course is relatively easy, but I feel like the workload is pretty heavy. Due dates are odd so you really have to be on top of the schedule! Dr. Mohr offers lots of extra credit and they're usually pretty easy to complete. In-class clicker questions are part of overall grade.
I LOVED Dr. Mohr. She was hilarious and always excited to be there. I thought the class was very easy, as long as you put some time into studying. There's tons of extra credit so it's very hard to not pass. Just do the work and you should be fine. Also, you can find the textbook online for free.
I loved the content in this class, but it's not very easy. Dr. Mohr won't mention homework at all, and if you miss an assignment you're just screwed. The exams are super hard and don't relate to lectures. There is no tolerance for missing exams or homework even with valid excuse. She doesn't care about your grade and is pretty rude to students.
Her lecture is interesting and fun as she has a good sense of humor. However, her exams are much harder than expected and there are lots of homework assignments. If you have questions about an exam or something, she will give you sass and be rude even if she is in the wrong. Her extra credit consists of 1 point module reflections. Not worth it
I really liked Dr. Mohr. Her lectures weren't the worst but exams were HARD. She did provide up to 80 bonus points which are really helpful for your final grade (which bumped me from B to an A). Textbook can be found for free online also!
She has a great sense of humor and makes lecture interesting. Her exams are extremely hard and consistent of a lot of material. There are a lot of assignments due in a short period of time. Gives so so many opportunities for bonus points which really help your grade. She does not tolerate nonsense . Good teacher, would definitely take again.
She was funny but that was about it, there is so much homework and you barely get points for it. Dont ask questions because she will be rude and not even answer them. The exams are nothing like the material you learn, it doesnt matter if you study
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!! So difficult and not easy to keep up. Does not except late work whatsoever and will not be nice when you email her, so don't even bother. Tests are impossible and nothing like the material you learn in class.
Was one point off a higher letter grade and she tried to deduct 1/2 of my bonus points because I was point begging when it was not mentioned in the syllabus. I said this to her and she told me "I got lucky but she's certainly not modifying my grade." Do not understand how a professor could be so rude and unempathetic. Rudest professor I've ever met
I have never met a ruder professor in all my years of schooling. Her actions really show how she truly does not care about any of her students or their well-being, and her email replies are so disrespectful and unprofessional. Never take this class with her as your professor if you would like to be happy.
Dr. Mohr is very educated and knows what she is talking about. That being said I loved the material we learned. However, she is bad with keeping up with grades and helping students. The test are extremely difficult and are not like the lecture quizzes. Expects a lot out of her students and does not have sympathy.
This professor has very strange criteria when it comes to assignments, exams are only opened online and proctored from 7 pm-9 pm on testing days. Extra credit is given but it is essentially busy work for people who are so down bad for a good grade they feel the urge to do it
She could be a very good professor but she makes you feel stupid for asking questions. The exams are on a lot of material and are at 7 pm. It is quite difficult to study for this class because there is so much material covered and she does not go slow.
She is a great lecturer but her exams are difficult. i cannot stress this enough but DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!! It raised my grade from an 89% to a 97%
Before taking Professor Mohr, these reviews scared me. If you put the work in, you'll get an A. There are up to 80 bonus points offered throughout the semester and she makes sure to give assignments that help you understand the material. The exams weren't easy but if you study hard for a few days you should be able to get at least a B.
Honestly, I liked Professor Mohr. The exams are difficult, but if you study and pay attention to the lectures you will be fine. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! She is very generous with the extra credit assignments, and they do help your grade. Just stay on top of your assignments and study, and you will be fine.
She is probably one of the rudest people I've ever met. She clearly does not care about her students and is not sympathetic towards anything. She acts like you're stupid for even asking questions. I was excited to be a forensics major but she is one of the main reasons why I am switching majors. Would not recommend.
Participation matters in this class. You will have to put a lot of extra time into learning the information in this class. If the professor does not finish the lecture for the day or runs out of time, you are responsible for teaching yourself the material. Good luck trying to find the lecture slides, the ecampus is very difficult to navigate
So I read through these ratings myself before taking the class, I figured she can't be that bad. She is. In my opinion, it was an easy pass class. She offers nearly 100 points of extra credit throughout the semester and they're easy to get. But she got sick in the middle of class, came to class with pneumonia, and is incredibly rude to students.
I wasn't a fan, you could tell she didn't want to be teaching. There are up to 80 bonus points you can earn in the semester, but are a lot of work for 2 points on average for each assignment. A tough grader, if you spell something incorrectly you won't receive partial credit. Sometimes was unprepared, and made you feel stupid for not understanding.
Dr. Mohr's lectures consist of reading off lecture slides with little to no elaboration. I resorted to teaching myself the material through the modules in ecampus. She got sick & came to class a few times during the semester, which may be nitpicky but having to leave to throw up mid-lecture is disgusting. Many opportunities for extra credit (80pt).
dr. mohr's class was AMAZING (as long as you actually put in an effort and care about the source material). her lectures were fun, and she's super funny. the exams can be tough, but not outrageously hard. overall, i would definitely recommend this class if forensics interests you
This was my funnest class of this past semester, however she expects her students to fully understand what is being taught. The problem is that this class goes over A LOT of information and the review packets she gives out are not helpful. She does give out 80 extra credit points so take advantage of those. But be prepared to teach yourself.
Very funny and engaging. Makes class enjoyable with dark humor. Easy to take notes, but you need to take notes on what she is saying, along with the powerpoint. Lots of work and a tough class, but my favorite of the semester. STUDY FOR HER CLASS. There is so much specific little bits of information that you'll be tested on.
Some of y'all mad, I've taken a few classes w her, here's the honest truth. Do what you're supposed to, and you'll have a great time. Engaging and funny, cares ab your comprehension. Only issues you'll have is if ur disrespectful to her or just don't read the syllabus. That's the only time she's "rude". Read the syllabus and turn things in on time.
Really fun teacher, and you earn the grade you get. Tests were very hard and the work was very consistent.
Honestly don't know why Dr. Mohr gets low ratings. She's a good professor, the lectures are interesting and engaging, the workload is manageable, and the tests are not bad if you study and pay attention. Plus she offers a huge amount of extra credit that can really help your grade.
She's sweet and tries to keep her lectures moving and makes jokes when she can. She's also pretty good at warning the class when the material is about to get gory, which I appreciated. Lot's of reading is needed, but she'll send out a study guide before any exams, so it's not like you'll be blindsided by anything.
Mohr has dark humor most of the time. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!! It raised my grade a whole letter. Many do not like her but I think it is her way of teaching cause I understand and thought she was a good professor.
Dr. Mohr was interesting and made class fun. She does not accept late work for any reason, as she believes if she changed a due date for one student, it would be unfair to the rest of the class. However, she provides lots of extra credit chances and will work with any student who shows genuine interest in improving.
Dr. Mohr's lectures are very fun and engaging, but her assignments are very difficult. Seeing the ratings on here kind of scared me a bit going into her class, but she's really not as bad. Just make sure you go to class and actually participate and pay attention and you will be fine. She also offers a TON of extra credit so take advantage of that.
I was kinda nervous going into this class after reading some of the reviews on here about Dr. Mohr, but I thought she was great and loved the course. Just make sure to do all of the extra credit assignments (there are tons of opportunities for points) and you'll be golden.
Dr. Mohr is very personable and the lectures were enjoyable and engaging. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!! It is truly a lifesaver and the extra credit assignments were not too difficult. The most difficult thing about the class is the exams as there is a very large amount of content covered throughout the class. She does truly care about her students though!
Dr. Mohr finds ways to make her lectures very entertaining. If you're not a strong test taker like me, the exams will be killer. They cover tons of material at once. She offers lots of extra credit which is helpful. If you're an alright test taker you'll be fine.
Great lectures and great topic to learn about, however you really got work for your grade. You can earn lots of extra credit but the big extra credit assignments may require things like writing a full paper and all.. but don't beat yourself up if you don't do it. Her exams are half fill in the blank half multiple choice. Study and pay attention.
She only teaches through lectures. Her quizzes and tests have information we never practiced with before.
I don't think it's her fault but there is SO MUCH CONTENT and it goes so fast. Exams include tiny details that were mentioned once in the lecture so remember and write down EVERYTHING. This class at 8:30am is awful. There's so many assignments so there is tons of room to improve your grade over the course of the semester. The final was a 0/10.
Lots of work
Her lectures weren't bad, but she lacks empathy. You better hope nothing bad happens to you or your family during this class, because she will not care. She will not grant any extensions for anything even if you have to drive across the country for your grandmother's funeral. Plus, the extra credit is very lengthy for the amount of points worth.
This professor is very strict on when you turn in assignments but will not have clear criteria for anything. She will say it is in the packet when it is not or it is buried between several paragraphs of nonsense. I have a lot of respect for her knowledge, but she does not teach, she wants you to just know.
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! I took her for my fis 201 class and I always heard how horrible of a prof she was. NOPE! She's amazing, just do the work (ON TIME), and do the extra credit (I got up to 80 bonus points and only needed like 4 points on the final to get an A)! Tests can be difficult but if you study and GO TO OFFICE HOURS, you will be fine!!
Loved Mohr's lectures. You can tell she is very passionate and knowledgable about forensics. However, her exams were horrible. Impossible to pass, even with extensive note taking and lots of studying. Do all the extra credit for this class. It will save your grade in the end.
Dr. Mohr's lectures were great. She made the content very interesting. She also offered a ton of extra credit and I would recommend doing at least half of those assignments. Studying the lectures and skimming the book was essential for the exams.
Dr Mohr was alright, her exams were pretty hard but she offers a lot of extra credit and you should definitely take advantage of that. she could be pretty crude at times but overall she's not too bad.
Although the material is a bit daunting, Dr.Mohr is super approachable and gives lots of opportunities to up your grade. Lectures were fun and engaging. Study for the exams with the lecture notes and study guide and you should pass the class. Overall, she genuinely cares for her students, she just throws a lot at you.
Dr. Mohr's class is very fast paced. She went through lectures quickly, but class was engaging. She also gives bonus pints for asking questions. Her exams were difficult, but forming a study group and taking notes can be useful. If you take advantage of bonus points (of which there's a million opportunities), passing the class shouldn't be hard.
Professor Mohr is very passionate and makes the lectures very engaging. She posts videos of all her lectures online which helped a lot since she goes very fast during class. The exams can be difficult but if you prepare and study, you'll be fine. She gives out a LOT of extra credit assignments and bonus points for participating during class.
Lots of extra credit opportunities, but it's a lot of work for little payoff. She does not accept late work. I always found her funny and respectful, no idea what y'all are doing to piss her off. I had food poisoning during the final and she let me retake it, was very kind about the whole thing
Don't let the extra credit fool you, it is the only way students will pass her class. She will put details that we did not discuss in class, nor is mentioned in the textbook on exams. Her assignments are very unorganized and it is very easy to miss an assignment because of it. She is very rude and passive aggressive in lecture and through emails.
DO THE EXTRA CREDIT FROM DAY ONE. It is the ONLY way you will do well. Prepare to study A LOT and then still do mediocre on her exams (averages are in the high D's). Due dates are never consistent so make sure to double triple check. She is a passionate instructor, but generally rude and disrespectful to students. She will yell at you in class.
Mohr does offer a lot of extra credit assignments but it can be a lot of work for little points, but if you want a good grade, do them!! Her lectures were engaging but exams included a lot of material we barely touched in class, so reading the textbook is basically a must. She is often passive aggressive and is tough on grading(she will not round)
Mohr offers a lot of e.c. opportunities that boost your grade, but they can be a lot of work for very few points at a time. Her lectures were sometimes engaging, but her emails were often rude or passive aggressive. She does not display much empathy for her students. Her exams include minute details from lectures and cover a lot of material.
You can tell she loves what she does, but she was not my favorite professor. I feel it was a lot of just reading off the slides. Tests were probably the worst part. So just do the extra credit. There is a lot of it.
Dr. Mohr definitely loves what she does & makes lectures very engaging. Her exams are oddly specific & very challenging, even if you study. She offers lots of extra credit opportunities. You can only pass this class if you actually show up. She is hilarious, but rarely empathetic or understanding. I would definitely take another one of her classes.
very entertaining lectures, love the way assignments are set up and LOTS of extra credit options.
She is very enthusiastic. The first exam may be a struggle because the course is VERY content heavy so you definitely have to study. The only thing I didn't like was her due dates are a bit whack, sometimes they didn't make sense to me. I enjoyed her class!
a lot of people dont like her but she's not horrible if you do your work. she can be passive agressive too. a LOT of homework but manage your time. exams are HARD so study a lot she gives SO much extra credit that i did almost every one and my grade went from an 85 to a 97. do the extra credit, go to lectures, read the book, turn in work on time
Professor Mohr's FIS201 class is no easy feat, but with dedication and using resources like Unstuck ai for study prep, you can succeed. Engage with her teaching style, do the extra credit, and you'll learn a lot despite the challenging exams.
Her lectures are hilarious, she cares about her students and has reading quizzes and exams but she uses a low cost textbook, and her notes in lectures are detailed enough not to need the books. she is readily available with office hours and responds to emails fast and she has a lot of bonus point opportunities.
She always has a lot of bonus points, she cares about her students and uses low cost books and materials. She has funny lectures and is very accessible for questions. there is a lot of reading with the reading and lecture quizzes but its a fun class.
I asked for clarification on an assignment and she failed to actually explain what I did wrong. There is no extra credit and I have only received exam grades in the 60s. There was a lot of content to cover in such a short turn around period.
Her lectures were very interesting, she was very loud but funny.
Just rude and very passive aggressive. Gives Extra credit but it is a lot for little points. Exams are insane,I studied for two weeks and only received a mediocre grade. Went to her multiple times for a better understanding of content and she only knows how to explain it in one way and then gets frustrated when you ask her to explain differently
Please do the extra credit! She will spend about 90% of the lecture making jokes like some comedian but she is not nice! Very passive aggressive, gets mad when you don't understand her rushed lectures, and makes you scrape the bowl for points. Very exam heavy and if you miss one, or do bad on one, it's hard to get back up. You've been warned.
If you arent suicidal before taking her, you definitely will be after. Her lectures consist of her ranting about her favorite ninja turtle or some obscure inuendo only a band kid would understand. The tests require you to essentially already be a forensic scientist and will make you want to bang your head into a wall. She is Also rude AF, good luck
Genuinely one of the worst professors I've taken at WVU. I would never recommend her, yet if you're taking FIS-201 then you have to take her. She has a lot of extra credit and all of her stuff is online. As long as you study and look at her study guides you can pass with an A easily. Very boring class and lecture heavy.
I had to take an emergency trip in February to see my grandpa that lives outside of the country because I found out within the beginning of the school year has terminal cancer and could pass at any moment. I ended up having to drop this class because I was told I couldn't take an exam that overlapped w/ the trip virtually or after I returned. :,)
Stopped looking both ways to cross the street in hopes that I would be taken out and wouldn't have to continue with this class. Unbelievably rude and seems to do everything in her power to put you down. Only reason she teaches is because she loves the power trip.
VERY mean professor. Not rude, genuinely mean. And what's worse is that she takes way too long to teach the lecture. She'll spend half the class period making poop jokes before giving you the 75th clicker quiz of the period. Also "participation" points are...mandatory. And guess what? You have 50 things due every week so get them done in ADVANCE!!!
Not great, she is very participation heavy and she is not very understanding
after taking this class i realized there is no point to life. get away as fast as possible.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. By far the worst professor at this school, almost everyone is failing or close to it. Terrible at teaching, hardest tests, EXTREMELY tough and unforgiving grader. Gives zeros on assignments and does not give explanations. Was only in class the last 4 weeks of the semester, the rest of it was self taught using old recordings.
She will not care about helping you in the slightest. Be ready to learn the material yourself because any questions you have will turn into a 10 minute joke set up with no punchline. If you're a forensics major and are required to take her class I wish you luck because it will feel like life has lost all meaning.
Good teacher, tons of homework. Lots of busy work and assignments that claim to be bonus counted towards grade. Funny teacher and taught in a way that helped me understand the material, but she gave tons of homework (6-9 assignments per week including bonus). Very picky with giving bonus points if you don't write the exact thing she is thinking.
She was out for most of the semester, so we had to teach ourselves the material. I advise anyone interested in being a Forensics major to just change their major, so you don't have to take her class. She says IClicker is for participation, but then grades you on correctness, and questions are super specific and never gives enough time to answer.
She was gone for majority of the semester, so we basically taught ourselves the material. She takes points off for literally EVERYTHING. She is very specific with her expectations but doesn't clearly communicate them. There's also so much "bonus" work that's actually mandatory. It's so much busy work for very little points. She's also just rude.
taking this class my first semester in college made me rethink all of my life choices. i would rather do a george omalley and get hit by a bus then have to walk into this class. her lectures made 0 sense, and all u do is listen to her yap about stuff no one cares about.
This class was definitely something because the class was hybrid for the first half of the semester, then became a fully in-person class around November. Alot of assignments and lectures are fast-paced but if you're a forensics major, or minor, you can't avoid her.
This class is meant to haze out students in the forensic major and she makes that extremely clear. I cannot stress enough that you are going to want to do every single extra credit/participation opportunity because your grade basically depends on it. If enough people get a question wrong on an exam, she does drop the question which is nice.
If you're a forensic major, you will have her, and it's rough sometimes. She tends to be passive-aggressive when it comes to questions or wrong answers. She takes her job to weed out people who aren't passionate about forensics seriously. All of this to say, the class isn't too tough if you keep up with the lectures and your participation grade.
Yes, the comments are true. At first I didn't mind her, but then things got bad. She is so disrespectful and lacks any empathy. I saw an email where she told a student they didn't belong in the class based off of their intelligence. I never dreaded a class more. And yes, you're expected to go to class even when there's threats of a campus shooter.
please for the love of GOD lock in for this class. she's so passive aggressive it's actually laughable. everything about this class made this semester worse. please please please do every single "bonus" assignment, do the annotations, do absolutely anything you can to get as many points as possible and still pray afterwards.
I've seen this class described as a class that filters out the forensics majors who are completely devoted to forensic and they would be right. The professor is also passive aggressive and a very strict grader. Make sure to do the participation and extra credit or you will fail this class because the exams were really hard
super annoying, thinks shes funny, and ruins your day at 8:30 am. the class was easy but it was almost impossible to get a 100 on anything she had to hand grade and ecampus didn't automatically grade for her.
Mohr was a Ok professor. Her lectures were usually pretty clear. But when it came to case studies and work her grading seemed to be random and disorganized. She's a much better professor in person than online. You really need to understand each lecture topic and past what she teaches to be successful in this class.
