Dr. Prado is super friendly and always willing to help students. During lecture, you'll have to get past her silliness, but lectures are helpful and give you opportunities to practice. Lots of ALEKS and iClicker points to boost your grade. Show up, take notes, and work problems and you'll pass.
I was in Dr. Prado's first class that she taught at Auburn, and I have absolutely loved her. She is very approachable and will answer any questions that you may have. I HIGHLY suggest her. I also suggest going to class; we would have clicker questions 9/10 days. Overall, chem 1030 is difficult material, but Dr. Prado makes it simpler.
I LOVE DR. PRADO!! she is a chemistry QUEEN! she literally knows everything in the whole world and is such a great teacher. I wish she taught Chem 1040 because I would take her again! Show up to class and listen and you will do fine. She gives a ton of recources to study for the test and works problems with you! She is THE BEST chem prof at AU
Probably one of the best Chem teachers at Auburn. She knows what's going on and is willing to help you if you are confused. She's super approachable for office hours and just normal questions and wants to help you the best she can.
I LOVE JENNIFER WITH ALL MY HEART. She was brand new to Auburn this semester and I was a little scared coming in, but she is amazing. Get ready for lots of quirky chemistry jokes and dumb puns. You have to go to class in order to get a good attendance grade, but her lectures are super helpful. Wish I could take her for chem 1040!!!
Professor Prado is by far the best option for a chem teacher at Auburn. I went into this class nervous about taking chem and it didn't make me feel any better when I heard it was her first semester teaching here. Turns out she is an amazing professor and everyone should try to get her class.
Dr. Prado is definitely not the easiest teacher. Her lectures are very simple and seem easy, but when it comes to the test the questions are extremely difficult. Can only miss 3 classes because she takes attendance. She is very caring and nice, but I do not think she prepares us enough for the material on the exams.
Dr. Prado's lectures appear easy because the examples are the simple but when it comes to the tests she puts the hardest problems on the exam. I went to her office hours for help with some problems before the exam and she was rude to me because I am Greek Life. She told me that I should not be in a sorority and focus only on chemistry.
I was in her first class here at Auburn, but she seemed to fit right in. Her lectures are helpful and she's easy to understand. The tests seemed fairly easy, but I heard from some people who didn't take chem in high school say they were hard. She's really nice and helpful during her office hours.
Do. Not. take. She has a good rating but she does not prepare the class appropriately for the exams
She flies through the lectures, so you either get it or you don't. Going to her office hours is pointless. Tests are hard, and make up most of your grade. Also have to do a TON of Aleks.
Lectures dont prepare for the test. A lot of aleks topic but theyre only worth 10 % of test. Tests are 80% of grade and she does not curve or scale at all.
DO NOT TAKE. New to auburn so her last semester class had it easy which is why her score is so high. Does not prepare you at all for tests. Lecture she just reads off slides. Studying wont even help because she doesnt even expose you to topics included in exams. If she does teach something, it is asked in a completely different way on exam. AVOID
If you have ever seen the periodic table in your lifetime, the first test wasnt bad. Once she starts teaching material youve never seen, its nearly impossible to keep up with lectures, studying, aleks, & pre class quizzes. This class made me want to pull my hair out because of how much time I spent studying. Do not take. No extra credit either.
The first test isnt that bad, but then once you get into harder information she flies through the information. She gives you easy problems in class and you think you understand it but then on the exam it is something you have never seen. She also does not scale or curve, and during this online period has not been very helpful. Avoid if possible.
Test are VERY hard. Great teacher. Explains things well. If chemistry is not your things it will be difficult but she is very kind and willing to help.
I definitely think she is the best of the chem teachers at Auburn. The problems on the test are WAY harder than the ones she gives in class, but if you actually read the textbook and practice, practice, practice you'll be fine. She gives you so many resources for the test so make sure to use them!
Dr. Prado is great. The material is just tough and most people don't want to put in the work so they decide to blame their bad grade on the professor. I've never taken a chemistry class and made an A. Highly recommend her.
I absolutely loved her!! Chemistry in general is not easy but her lectures were so easy to follow and she is really dedicated to her students. She gives you worksheets for almost every chapter, old tests, practice tests. After reading other reviews on here I was truly sad how many people said bad things because she is AMAZING, dont listen to them
I really love Dr. Prado, but her test are very hard. She gives a lot of good examples in class, but they are a lot easier than the test. Dr. Prado really cares and is very personable and good at answering questions STAY ON TOP OF ALEKS. do it early and get LAs to help. they get hard and especially the last couple per an objective.
She was very nice, but her lectures and aleks will not prepare you for the tests. The only way to be prepared is to do every practice test she posts. You will have to teach yourself most of the actual chemistry, but she is probably still the best chemistry professor at auburn. I wish she taught Chem 1040 as well.
Dr. Prado made Chemistry very easy to understand. And if you were having trouble, she is completely available to help in class and outside of class. She gives old exams and practice tests to help you study for the exams. She is overall super understanding and kind!
Dr Prado is an amazing professor!! Immediately, you can tell she cares about her students and their success in her class. She does a good job of explaining confusing material and answering any questions her students may have. She did an amazing job during this time of Covid to make sure her students were still learning effectively. LOVE HER
Dr. Prado is a great teacher who really cares about her students. If you show up and pay attention in class, use her study resources that she posts for tests, and take the homework seriously, you can make an A. I loved her, she has been one of my best professors at Auburn so far.
Dr. Prado is an amazing chem professor! Ive taken this class before at AU on campus and it was terrible until Dr. Prado. She is amazing at giving lectures and helping you understand. She genuinely wants you to understand the material and gives multiple study options and resources to help you succeed. Take her if you have the chance!!
Took her class through zoom, it was pretty good. You would watch a video lecture of the day before class, then in class she would briefly explain the content, give you some practice problems, then go over them with everyone. Shes very very nice and sweet and tries to make connections with students. Overall 9/10 because chemistry is still hard.
Had 3 tests and a final throughout the semester. Every test got harder as we progressed never scored better than an 80 on a test. Clicker questions at the end of the lecture, half for participation half on correctness. One long homework assignment is due at the end of each week.
Even though this class was pretty hard, Dr. Prado did an outstanding job in teaching this course. She is kind and personable which made zoom meetings bearable. She gave a lot of grade opportunities, but the tests were heavily weighted and you HAVE TO STUDY. HARD. She provides a ton of practice, so use it. Take her if you can!!!
She gives in-class assignments and homework due every Sunday which accounts for a lot of the grade. But, she drops the 6 lowest in-class assignments and 2 lowest homework which helps. The tests are hard but she gives a practice test which helps a LOT. It is a lot of lectures since you have to watch them before you get to class, in class is all work
Dr. Prado is a great teacher! She adjusted to COVID-19 so well and really tried to make the best out of the online chemistry experience. The material gets more difficult throughout the semester, but she gives so many resources to help you prepare for each exam. Just make sure you use the resources, go to office hours, and practice problems a lot!
Dr. Prado makes chemistry fun and is good at explaining things. Make sure to work lots of practice problems and complete your homework or you will not do well in this class. Participation is a large portion of getting things done so be sure to know the people around you.
Take Dr. Prado!! Chemistry is tough, but Dr. Prado is very passionate about this subject and it shows in her teaching! She was always willing to answer any questions & her lectures made it easy to understand the material!! Tests were somewhat difficult, but she provides enough resources to prepare you. 1 homework assignment per week and 3 exams!
Dr. Prado was amazing! I am not the biggest fan of chemistry, but she definitely made it manageable. She is so kind and the class was so well organized. Watch the lectures, do the homework, study the recitation sheets/types of problems practiced and you will be successful.
De Prado is a really good professor. She is very nice and is always willing to help us outside of class. I took AP Chemistry in high school and had no idea what was going on. She helped me understand the information better. However, she is very hard and the test are tough as well, but if you study your notes, you should make an A or a B.
Dr. Prado was amazing! I am not a science person but I really tried and was able to get a good grade. She gives practice exams for each test and practice problems for each chapter. Going to class is not mandatory, but I would only skip a few times. She gives participation credit and problems during class. Definitely take her class!
Prado is such a helpful and kind professor. Her lecture examples, homework, learning catalytic, and recitation sheets are very helpful for preparing for tests. Though, the class material is difficult, so be prepared to do extra work to get the grade you want. She gives extra credit at the end, so do the survey! Would highly recommend her for sure.
I had a very difficult time grasping the topics we went over in class. She uses a flipped-classroom setting, which in my opinion is very difficult to get feedback from the professor. You are required to watch the lectures prior to coming to class, and come to the class doing practice problems. The tests were also MUCH harder than the practice.
Dr. Prado is an amazing chem professor. For me personally, watching lectures prior to lecture and working problems in class was beneficial for this class. She really sets you up to succeed on the tests by giving you many resources to study for it (study guide, old tests, practice problems and recitation sheets). Take her for chem, she's a savior
the amount of resent I have towards Prado is insane. First day she tells us that she doesnt even have a degree in chemistry. Her degree is in engineering. She probably hasnt taken this class in 10 years and you can tell by the way she teaches. she uses super abstract concept maps that dont make any sense to teach hard topics. DONT TAKE HER CLASS
Dr. Prado is a very nice lady, and gives plenty of practice and review material to help you succeed in her class; however, this class is hard. Be prepared to study a lot for the tests because they are hard. Even though the material seems relatively easy, and straight forward, you have to completely understand it to do well on the tests.
Dr. Prado is a good teacher and I would recommend! Theres homework due about once a week and the lectures are easy to follow. Take good notes, do the extra review sheets, know the practice tests, and review Mastering Chem HW before the tests. This is definitely a fair class and with some good studying, a solid A.
Great teacher, gives practice exams that were pretty much just like the tests(the tests through canvas). Homework helps a lot by giving you a good grasp of things. Really nice and will help you with anything if you need it.
Chemistry can be kinda tough, but Dr. Prado is good at walking her students through things. She has very detailed video lectures and the homework is great practice for the tests.
I love Dr. Prado. For her class you must watch lectures online before class then during class you work practice problems. Her tests are difficult but if you can do the practice and homework with confidence then you will do fine on tests. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going to class because you will do better on tests.
This class is not easy in any way. The lectures are pre recorded so you are left all alone trying to figure out anything for this class. She basically only grades the tests (the homework barely counts towards your actual grade) so if you do bad on a single test you should expect a terrible grade for this class. Would not recommend.
Dr. Prado is a sweet woman but a bad professor. She pre records all lectures and posts the notes online. Its hard to teach yourself. If I wanted to take an online class, I wouldve signed up for one. You only do worksheets in class. All the teaching is done by you on your own time. Most of my class is struggling really badly. Avoid at all costs.
Overall very easy class. She gives you the previous tests to help you prepare for the exam, and they are extremely similar. Easy A if you put in a couple hours a week
She taught this class with 1 year old recorded lectures. No extra credit or curved grades regardless of over half the class failing. The exams are short and awful and if you do bad on them then your grade will be awful. The homework will not save you. There also aren't any quizzes so you are screwed.
Most classes are just doing worksheets. When she does lecture it is generally filled with lots of useless and confusing outside information. This is a class you have to teach yourself in, Prado is not much help. I got a lot more from the TAs, LAs, and SIs. Also, the assigned homework doesnt relate well to tests.
I love Dr. Prado and I think she teaches this class so well! She sends out recorded lectures and you do practice problems in class. As long as you watch the lectures, coming to class isn't really a necessity. She gives good practice problems to help you prepare for the exams. I definitely recommend her to anyone taking Chem 1030!
Dr. Prado is such a sweet lady and really wants to help, but her class setup is terrible. The only reason I did good was because I took AP Chem. Be ready to put in a lot of extra, ungraded work to understand the material. Her tests are very short and pretty much your entire grade is from them. If you need help, she will gladly do it.
Most of her material for the class is taught through online lecture videos. However, in-person she does worksheets and goes over any questions you have. Her tests are extremely hard! She even tells you how she is known for having hard tests! She seems like a nice person, but her teaching style can be hard to learn from at times.
Basically you get the material and have to teach yourself. During class she mostly let her TAs teach more than she did. The lectures were in a video and during class she just gives a worksheet then gives you the answers at the end. The few times she taught, it was fast and confusing. Her tests were hard. (I love chem and this was rough for me)
Super helpful notes and lectures with lots of reviews and practice problems
The class was set up so that you did online video lectures before class, then came to class where she hit the highlights then worked out problems. I really liked this set up, but it definitely isn't for everyone. She was super accessible via office hours and very approachable. She truly wanted you to be successful.
If you prefer a traditional classroom, don't take Dr. Prado. I really liked her setup of having recorded lectures and only having to come to class for exams. Her class is a lot like AP chem in high school so if you did well in it then you'll do well in her class. She's very kind and charismatic too. I'll be taking her for CHEM1040 next semester!
I love Dr. Prado!! She gives recorded lectures and in class we do recitation sheest, which i prefer. Her tests are pretty hard so you really have to understand the material, but she is really helpful outside of class and in office hours and really wants you to succeed. If you take advantages of all the resources she gives you, then you'll be fine.
I had Dr. Prado for CHEM 1030 and loved her. I saw she was teaching OChem and was so excited. She is very fair in what she grades on and will help if needed. I had to put a lot of work in for my exams but she gives practice exams that were just like the exam and lots of outside resources which were helpful.
This was her first time teaching organic chemistry, which was evident at times throughout the semester but I would definitely take her again! Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and is consistent with what she lectures and puts on the exam. If you put in a decent amount of studying and stay on top on the content, an A is easily attainable!
Chem is a difficult class, and yes Dr Prado does have difficult tests, but she definitely prepares you for them and for the ACS final. Your job is to PRACTICE. She offers plenty of practice problems and is very open to help. If you just participate, you should be ok. Just put in the effort! Shes also very sweet!
Watch lectures before class then worked problems from a recitation worksheet in class (I didn't go beside test days). Lecture recordings could be sped up, slowed down or rewatched which was helpful. Do the recitation sheets and homework because practice will teach you as much as lectures. For final, work through all ACS practice problems (ch1-8).
OChem is super hard as a subject but Prado makes it super clear what she expects out of you. Definitely study the textbook problems to help do better on exams. She pretty much gives you all you need to be successful like a test study guide. While her class is not the most interesting and can move kinda fast, she defintely explains herself well
Do not take if you can avoid it! Her class was extremely difficult and most people had to drop. She does not seem to care about her students or their grades. When the test average was a D or even an F she didn't have a care in the world, and that average of a D or F happened a lot. She is not helpful if you try to talk to her and ask for help.
Overall I do believe Prado is a good person and does care for you BUT as someone who greatly struggled in chemistry I could not keep taking this class. The only way you could pass this class is if you went to the LA sessions and I couldn't make it to many.
I love Dr. Prado. Her tests are hard, but she prepares you well for them. Go to class even though it's not required and find friends to study with. She has plenty of resources and office hours to help you, so just work hard and pay attention and you will be fine.
Dr. Prado is amazing! She gives great notes and helps whenever you ask. I highly recommend attending SI sessions. Chemistry is difficult, so it's wise to put in the extra work and get extra help. You get out of it what you put into it, so as long as you study, do your homework, and go to class, you should do fairly well.
Dr. Prado is literally a ray of sunshine! She is by far the best chemistry professor at Auburn, and I have truly never met a professor who cared as much as she did! Multiple office hours sessions, she will help with anything you need, amazing at teaching, and overall, just the best professor! Take her if you can, I would recommend her to anyone!!
Dr. Prado is very sweet. I got an A in chem 1 and a B in chem 2. It was her first time teaching chem 2, so there were a few kinks about things we probably needed more teaching on, but over all she is a good professor who cares.
Considering this was Dr. Prado's first semester teacher 1040, she did a great job. She prepares you well for the exams and give resources the are helpful such as recitation sheets, study modules, practice exams, and addition textbook problems. She also records lectures in case you have to miss a day.
I liked Prado. She was understanding and helpful in office hours. Chem isnt easy, but IF you put in the work, you can easily make an A. All my friends that did poorly in this class didnt watch the lecture videos or put in effort. Youll have to stay on top of things as it IS a flipped classroom (though she says otherwise). But overall, shes good
This is my 2nd course with Dr. Prado and I didn't regret it. I would watch lectures on canvas on 2x speed and didn't go to any SI (even though they would probably help) and still did pretty good overall. Your grade is kind of up in the air the last few weeks of her class because she waits until the end to change scales and such. Overall really good
Offers zoom, records it and posts it online. A ton of practice with DSM, practice tests, and resuscitation sheets. My lab and mastering for accuracy. 3 tests. Didnt curve ours. Final replaces your lowest grade. Around 20 online homeworks. Organized lecture slides w practice problems. Office hours 4 times a week for about 2.5 hours. She cares.
This class is very difficult but she makes herself available to you. I HIGHLY recommend going to office hours or her SI sessions/study groups to better understand the material.
She gives a lot of good study material including past exams that are similar to the one you will take. All lectures and notes are taken at home.
online lectures and then mostly review of them in class. attendance not mandatory. super easy to get behind
Dr. Prado is doing great at teaching ochem so far! Ochem is a difficult subject, but her lectures are mostly clear. She is available often for office hours and is very willing to help! I would recommend reading the textbook, it is not required but reading before class helps a lot. She claims to never curve grades, but she has given us bonus.
she moves very quickly through the material, and you basically have to teach it all to yourself. she teaches like it's a review of the material rather than it being brand-new, which it is. she does give out recitation sheets and a practice test, which is extremely helpful when preparing for exams, but i will be trying out Schneller next semester.
TAKE HER! She is by the easiest science professor I have had. As long as you watch and take notes on the online lectures and go to class, you're set. She gives you SO many resources to prepare for the exams including a study guide, recitation sheets, extra problems, and ALL of her past exams which helped a lot. She also gives some extra credit
Prado is alright. The only way you will understand the material is by going to class and taking notes. Her tests aren't that hard, but also aren't that easy. She's a very mid professor and teaches a very mid class. Take her if you have no better option, but don't expect too much P.S. she talks about her kids all the time so be ready for that lol
One of my favorite chemistry teachers I've ever had. She teaches a bit fast, but the textbook she uses is absolutely amazing, and it goes very well with her lectures. Her tests are hard and delve into some of the fine details of each chapter, but they aren't unfair. The material is hard as it is, but she makes it as straightfoward as possible.
online lecture
Don't take Dr.Prado if you aren't a math person!! You will regret it. I honestly didn't like this course at all. She gives way too much detail about the topics and I was constantly confused. I watched the lecture videos too and I went to study partners tutoring 1-2 times per week and I've failed every exam
Solid teaching, gives you more than enough resources to succeed. Study, go to lecture, do the homework and you'll be fine. Gives access to past tests that are extremely useful. Gave a few small chances for bonus, which is nice. She teaches intro chem classes, so a lot of the lower reviews might be people who didn't study or put in the time.
Dr. Prado isn't a bad teacher, she just often over complicates the easier ideas, and skips over the harder concepts. I took AP Chem and did very well, and this class was just confusing for no reason. Just not a very good explainer. She doesn't prep super well for tests, and it seems like she doesn't care, and is kind of condescending.
Dr. Prado is a great professor. I was never strong in chemistry but she offered so many outside of class resource's which made it bearable. It is a flipped classroom which can be hard but stay on top of work. She really seems to care about students and wants them to pass and also makes everything pretty much accessible on canvas. Great professor
Attendance is optional but you need to go to class. Practice is what helps the most, and there are only 3 tests that are the majority of your grade.
I have taken Dr. Prado for Chem 1&2 and Ochem. Her teaching style has improved, I did not like her flipped classroom in Chem 1. For Chem 2/Ochem she did lectures in class which I felt personally helped me learn better. Her tests are not scaled (or only 3-4 points bonus), and are difficult but her old tests for practice help a ton when studying.
Dr. Prado herself is amazing, but I didnt like the way her class was laid out. It was flipped learning and with 18 credit hours, its hard to find time throughout the day to watch an hour long video and take notes on. I did not watch a single video and attended every lecture and I was fine, but ones who watched the videos had much higher grades.
Flipped classroom. You do not have to watch the videos to pass, I did not and had a 97. Just do use all the material she gives you before the test. she provides all her old exams for every test, along with recitation sheets for every unit and additional problems. you dont have to do them, but she does provide them. she wants to see you succeed.
She gives you old tests to study and her lectures are generally pretty good. Gives out some bonus and replaces lowest test grade with final if it helps you. Go to class, look at the old tests, and review for the final = you will do good; she gives you everything you need to succeed as long as you put in the work. Pretty good professor overall.
While attendance is not mandatory, it's pretty important to go to class (lots of stuff to cover). She def cares about her students and even replaces your worst exam with your final test (although the final test is really hard). I would def recommend for CHEM1030. Make sure to do your homework and the old exams she posts for practice. Good overall
Chem 1030 is not an easy class, but Dr. Prado gives everything you need to do well. The class is flipped which requires a little more work at home, but makes the lecture time in class more efficient. She gives all of her past exams which are very similar to the real exam, and offered many bonus points. Best chem 1030 professor in my opinion.
Prado is a decent professor who has a flipped classroom. This makes it easy to fall behind. Also the problem with Prado is that you have to put in SO much work in her class to do well, but she is generous with bonus points and replaces your lowest test grade with the final (if you did better on the final). If you put in the work, you will be fine.
Great teacher! Class is hard but only because of material. Dr. Prado genuinely cares for her students and is great at communicating the information we should know. I will say her practice tests are not the best representation of her exams but other than that she was awesome.
Prado is kind and passionate about Chemistry. The flipped classroom method is a lot of work. I always watched the videos and took notes, and did the practice problems before class, and homework every week but its a lot of work. If you don't do the notes before class it's easy to get behind. Prado and the TA's were always great and helpful in class!
Dr. Prado is an amazing professor! I struggled in her class at first due to the test heavy nature, but all in all I would definitely recommend her as a professor. She helps prepare you very well for the ACS exam which I really appreciate.
Prado does a flipped classroom and DOES NOT teach in class. She teaches at a difficulty that was nowhere near the tests (showed the material as easy and then applied questions that people were not prepared for) and did not guide us in any way until it was too late. Her class averages on tests were Ds and she did not seem to care.
Suprise flipped the classroom this semester. The examples and work she provides do not reflect the difficulty of the test. Sometimes overcomplicate topics. She admitted to putting too many questions on tests for 50 minutes. The only people who stand a chance to finish without rushing (leading to careless errors) are those with accommodations.
I LOVE Dr. Prado. She is so nice and makes class interesting. I loved her flipped class and the videos aren't too long. I'd recommend going to class as she sums everything up nicely and does many practice examples. She gives lots of practice material you can use to study for the exams and it really helps! I was able to make an A on every exam.
I absolutely love Dr Prado's teaching skills. I rarely give teachers a rating, but I just had to let everyone know how good Dr Prado is at teaching. She uses the flipped classroom method in a very efficient way. Her practice exams and recitation sheets are a god send. Practice with them because they are almost the exact same as on her real exams.
Do NOT take chemistry at Auburn. While Prado is the best chemistry professor, she still sucks. She is great as a person, but her class is too difficult. If you do take it, expect to spend 10+ hours a week, outside of class, studying the material. Save yourself the time and stress, do it at Southern Union or Wallace over the summer.
Any chemistry class at Auburn is hard, but Dr. Prado has been really good so far. She actually takes time in class to go over problems. She also gives opportunities for bonus points and replaces your lowest test grad with your final grade if it helps you. If you have to take chemistry I would definitely recommend taking her if you can
Chemistry is a hard class no matter what. Dr.Prado breaks it down as easily as she can and while class is not mandatory to attend you do spend time working on problems and asking questions that will help you understand the concepts. Many of the problems end up being on your exam. She gives you plenty of practice and old exams to study. She's great!
I really liked Dr. Prado. She does a flipped classroom where you watch like 20 minutes lecture videos before class and then come in and review/practice. The tests can be difficult but they can be done, she provides practice tests and HW that are very similar to what you'll see on the test. Take her if you can!
It wasn't stated up front when I registered that this is a flipped classroom setting and I don't particularly like those. Homework assignments due every two weeks ish. Attendance not required. As long as you watch the videos outside of class, you'll be good because all she does is practice problems in class. Exams on paper.
Prado was a great teacher that provides plenty of resources to help you succeed. It was a flipped class so class was not mandatory but very helpful. Not an easy class and you will have to study and practice. Homework feels pointless and does not align with test problems.
The best teacher you will find to teach you chemistry. Her teaching style is very calm and collected so you don't feel rushed during lectures. I found her explanations to be easy to follow and felt very prepared for all tests. The amount of time spent studying just depends on the person and your understanding of chemistry. AP Chem helps.
She teaches a flipped classroom but in class she will tell you that the video was wrong and then not explain it and expect you to figure it out on your own. She overcomplicates the simple things and barely touches on the things that are hard. She also talks way more about her family than she does chemistry, including on test questions.
Chem 1030 is difficult in general but Prado was so helpful. she has office hours almost everyday, give old exams to study. she gives you everything you need to get an a so its in your hands to work hard for it.
Flipped classroom, so you watch lectures at home, and practice them in class, which was incredibly effective for this class. This is my second time taking Organic Chemistry, and her format is wonderful for learning the material. Watch all the videos, do all the practice problems, she sets you up for success and wants you to do well.
She is a great professor and is very helpful. Her tests are difficult but there are many ways to study outside of class.
She's a great professor! Taught me well and truly prepared me for ACS Exam. It is a flipped classroom so there is extra time put in out of class. Very nice and wants you to do well. Gives lots of study materials for tests bc they're hard but doable. Ended up giving lots of bonus at the end of semester to boost grades a little. Take her if you can!
TAKE DR. PRADO'S CLASS. As someone who failed a previous Organic class (Merner), I can confidently say that she teaches the content the way it's supposed to be taught. If you watch the pre-class videos and practice at least 1-2 times/week, you can walk out with a great understanding of OChem and an "A." She gave lots of extra credit at the end too!
Overall great teacher who was very helpful for all exams and the ACS final
I think prado is an amazing professor! She prepares you well for her tests as well as giving her students old exams to study. Not only that but she is super caring and wants her students to succeed in her class. She holds daily office hours for her students. Overall I love her as professor and I would highly recommend you take her if you can!!
She cares and is a great teacher, but the class sucks & too hard. You will spend tons of time outside class (LA sessions, office hours, etc) trying to learn & study the material. She is clearly smart but the material is not easy, she makes it slightly understandable. She does provide a lot of resources such as old tests. Best of the chem teachers.
I've also had Merner and Falcao for OChem, and Prado, respectfully, blows them both out of the water. If you watch the pre-class lectures (20 min), participate in class, do the hw, and study at 3+ days before the exam, you will get an A. Her lectures translate directly to exams, and she compartmentalizes such a difficult topic so well. TAKE PRADO!!
Dr. Prado is a great professor. She genuinely cares about her students especially when they care. OChem is hard but the key is to know all the reactions and think of it like a puzzle. Prado does a great job of preparing her students for exams. She provides lots of study materials. Also her office hours are great too! Go there and do HW with her!
Amazing professor. She wants the students to succeed and gives them tons of practice to prepare for exams. She does not make the class easy, but she makes it so that if you work hard, you can get the desired grade. She is also happy for the students when the average is high. There is not too much homework either. You study, not teach yourself.
This is a very difficult class but she made it understandable and easy. The tests are structured just like the practice exams and are easy to make a high grade on. She is happy to help whenever you need to ask a question.
Do all the practice problems in the end of the textbook chapters and Organic Chemistry As A Second Language book and you will get an A. I was scared because I was told this would be the hardest class I take in undergrad as a pre-med student but I ended the class with a 98.9. Dr. Prado is a great professor!
Prado is an amazing professor, one of the bests in the Chemistrt department, but OChem is extremely difficult. Tests can be difficult, but she provides a lot of good study materials and has a lot of office hours if you need help. A good grade is doable if you can dedicate the time, I took OChem and A&P at the same time and struggled to manage both.
Ochem is naturally hard but she made it a lot easier to understand. Offered lots of extra credit. Her tests were fair and there are 5 bonus points built into the tests. Definitely go to class to do the notes and class work with her
Love Dr.Prado, she really wants you to succeed but she is also so unnecessarily hard. This is my second time having her and I have enjoyed her as my professor but just cannot take her again because of how hard she makes her classes. She's a good teacher but her tests are almost impossible.
She was caring but the tests were very difficult for me. I am a hard working student but this class would be a class I prefer to take at a community college then transfer over because it really effected my GPA. The tests were about 20 questions and 1 hour hard math and only a certain calculator was allowed.
I took her for CHEM 2080. She is a decent teacher. Her tests are pretty difficult, mainly because half of them are multiple choice, which isn't a very good representation of your knowledge. She isn't very gracious with partial credit, so you shouldn't expect to get a lot of points on your mechanisms if you mess up on one or two steps.
I took her for CHEM 2080. She made the information that she wanted you to know clear and easily accessible. However her tests were very difficult with large multiple choice sections. In my opinion, multiple choice doesn't have a place in organic chemistry. Partial credit is just as important in organic chemistry as it is in a math class.
I had to work very hard in this class since it was online, but I wouldn't want to do it any other way! Dr. Prado is the best, and she is such a sweet person! She gives recitation sheets with video keys and old tests to study, along with an online practice exam! Her office hours are super helpful too! She also gave us some bonus towards the end!
I took Prado for Chem 2080 and it was her first semester teaching it so she did make mistakes as she went but she is a nice person and a solid lecturer. You need to go to class and take notes because Orgo 2 is a lot. She gives some bonus including up to 5-10 pts on each exam, but the exams themselves are difficult to begin with. Still recommend her
Prado is a solid lecturer, but Orgo 2 is tough. Her tests are challenging, with a mix of multiple choice and mechanisms. Go to class, use the textbook, and try unstuckstudy - it really helped my study prep.
Chem is hard. I took Prado online and it was honestly the best way to be forced to take CHEM 1030. Homework, discussion posts, and exams are very consistent and scheduled well. She posts practice exams for each test that are almost identical but just with different numbers or elements or whatever. Super nice and helpful. Would recommend!!
Great professor. Class is hard and you just can't get around that. Test averages are a 70-75 if you verse yourself on reagents you'll do great. LA's are great help and she allows for time in class to work on your own briefly and then explains answers. Has homework assignments 20% of grade and 3 exams with one final that replaces your lowest grade.
What can I say, ochem is a hard class. But this wonderful woman makes it easy to understand and is so funny!!! One of the best chemistry professors at Auburn. I unfortunately did not study as much as I should but getting an A is attainable. Team prado!
This class was on the back burner for me and I got a B. Definetly could have gotten an A if I had a lighter load. She isn't very fair on grading and makes her tests pretty tough. Averages were usually around a 68 same with the finally and she would say oh you guys did so great. Not many people get A's but its possible if you go to her office hours
Wonderful teacher who makes a hard class interesting and sets you up for success. Tests are half multiple choice (lots of conceptual), half free response. The recitation sheets helped a ton for exam prep. Got to memorize all the mechanisms and reagents to do well. I thought the exams were fair and she gave extra points. Take her— one of my favs!!!!
I took her for Survey of OChem, and she is one of the best professors I have ever had. She tries to make sure everyone knows what they are doing. This class is not the regular OChem class she just wants to make sure you get the basics. You should take her!!
Flipped classroom so you watched a video before going into class. Videos were no longer than 15 minutes. In class you practiced what you learned. I never watched a video and I still could catch on during class. She gave practice exams that were exactly like the actual exam. Her and the LAs would walk around and help and they wer super approachable.
Took this course online over the summer. I wouldn't bother reading the textbook; instead, watch her lectures because she explains the concepts much more easily. Everything you need to know is there. Do the practice quizzes, they often mirror the exam with numbers fudged. Easy if you study.
Prado was a great professor. It was my first online chem class and I think her lectures and practice videos helped me understand. The expectations are very clear. My grade dropped because I don't like chemistry and couldn't focus, so I tried CramBetter and the online tutor changed my whole perspective! It made this course easier for me.
Great teacher, her lectures are extremely helpful. Pretty easy class, the exams are exactly like the practice ones.
First time I took gen chem 1, I made a D and didn't understand the material despite hours of studying. Dr. Prado, however, made gen chem make SO MUCH more sense.
