She was amazing! Did a great job teaching a women's history class so that it wasn't anti-male like I have heard before. Lectures were fun and engaging. Quizzes were easy if you went to class. The paper we did was easy if you gave yourself plenty of time to complete it. She responded quickly to emails despite having 7 classes this semester.

I love her class so much. There wasn't a time that I was bored throughout th entire lecture. Quizzes are given every other week and assignments are given every other week that there aren't quizzes. All quizzes and homework assignments are worth 100 points and are very easy if you just pay attention and go to the class. Highly recommend.

Absolutely must take her!! History isn't my favorite but she made it interesting and I loved going to class.

Professor Purdie is great. She's sarcastically humorous, which is right up my alley. She made the course interesting without the male bashing. I'd definitely take one of her classes again. There are a few quizzes & homework assignments, but if you follow her lectures & read the text book, it's pretty clear cut.

The professor makes the class time go by quickly and class discussions are always interesting. The class is a hybrid class because homework is due on Canvas. Test are short essay questions but are easy to Ace. Extra credit on test. Follow her lecture outline and take quick notes. Takes points off for missing class. She's real and funny not boring.

its history. its going to be boring. Rachel was very enthusiastic about teaching it which may be a good or bad thing. The actual information that needs to be covered is minimal, but sometimes the teacher and class goes off on a tangent and the class ends up going the full time. Other than that the class was pleasant.

Purdie in my eyes seemed like a super tough grader. Although I do have to give props to her because never had I learned so much from a class. And I hate history. If you attend class you are likely to pass quizzes but she's wants all answers super specific.

lectures are stimulating, hilarious and ties a lot to contemporary women's issues making the class very relate able. Six online hwks five quizes, one dropped from each. Gives great feedback but have questions? be sure to email her early because she is a busy lady. Super sweet, organized, you always know your grade. She's my fav. You'll learn a lot

I took her class last summer 2015. I really don't like History but after taking her class, I must say history was fun to learn. She made the lecture so interesting, the quizzes were essay type but it's easy if you listen to her lecture or if you read the book. I honestly not reading the book before quiz because I can understand it from her lecture.

Brilliant lecturer, always humorous and light hearted but knows her history facts inside & out. Really passionate about history of all kinds. I also took a world history class from her. Keep up with the online assignment which only require a small chunk of time & some critical thinking and if you pay attention in class you're as good as gold.

Overall, this class was pretty easy. Only had 4 quizzes, and 6 assignments. You get to drop one quiz and one assignment, and there's only a midterm and a final. Lectures are kind of dry, but she posts all the power points online when she's done lecturing. The only thing is that attendance is mandatory, she makes you sign in before class.

She's a pretty good teacher, should be very easy to pass her class if you remember to do the online work listed on the syllabus, which sadly I did not.. Her lectures are kind of boring, but her sense of humor helps a bit. I advise you not to skip class, she does take attendance and gives points for it, same with participation/discussion.

Purdie is an amazing professor. I've taken her HIST 3 and HIST 37 courses, and they're both relatively easy. Lectures are hilarious, and she provides plenty of comparisons to present events to provide further understanding. You're graded on participation and attendance, so show up. Assignments can take time, but there are only a few. #purdieforprez

She is so funny and her lectures are very clear and her exams are all based on lectures and the book but aren't hard at all if you just go to class and listen. Professor Purdie is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. Attendance is definitely mandatory to pass her class, but she's a great lecturer. Tests are "difficult" in the sense that they aren't multiple choice, however she gives you a great study guide & uses the classes before to help you prep for the test. Assignments aren't difficult.

This was a very good class. The lectures were very helpful and direct. Her teaching is very understandable and she can be funny. Make sure to attend and do the reading, that helped me greatly. She is very willing to help, and I would totally take her class again.

If this was not my last semester at Solano, I would definitely take her class again for history 17. She can be a tough grader but she informs you in detail of why you received that grade.

Mrs. Purdie is the best professor you could ever take. To start her lectures are humorous and entertaining. She gives only five primary source assignments, four quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Your worst quiz and and primary source assignment will be dropped. If you need a history class I'd recommend her over anyone else.

Ms. Purdie is one of the most qualified amazing professors I've ever had. Her class was informative and witty and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. She puts on engaging lectures every class and then quizzes you based off of lectures.

Prof. Purdie really knows what she's talking about, and you can tell she has a real passion for her subject. Classes are lectures (usually fairly entertaining), with 4-5 quizzes, a midterm essay, and a final exam. She's a very fair grader and willing to answer any questions you have. She's also super funny and really pretty. I highly recommend her!

I was very skeptical about taking this class at first, but it was probably one of THE best classes I have taken at Solano. Professor Purdie is super straight forward with what she expects of you. Make sure you take good notes throughout the lectures and ask lots of questions! She may go off on a tangent, but pay attention, they mean something!

You can tell professor Purdie really cares about her students and if you ever feel like you didn't understand something she's very helpful. Make sure not to miss lecture if you struggle with the subject, since almost all the information you need is said in lecture. Barely touched the textbook.

Need a history class? Take Purdie! This is my 2nd time taking her, loved both classes! Textbook use depends on class, I used it for HIS037 but not HIS017, so take that into consideration. Feels like you're talking to a friend and not being lectured. Take notes, do the work, guaranteed A! Lowest grades per assignment are dropped, so that's a plus!

I loved Professor Purdies History 37 class! took her class in the summer and it was great. I would recommend not missing any days because a lot of the information learned in the lectures is on the quizzes. Her quizzes are easy if you pay attention, and the hw always gets you thinking. Shes great!

I'm actively listening during lectures and understanding the content because she is so well spoken and puts the past into context that we relate and understand better too. Lots of jokes and "so what that means is" and "look at it this way for perspective".

10/10 would recommend if you need to take women's history

She was probably one of the best professors I ever had because of the way she interacted with the class when teaching lectures, dont worry if you miss a class or 2 but highly recommend getting the notes from the day you missed otherwise you will be less prepared for tests, the homework she assigns is easy as well and gives great feedback

Okay, Ms. Purdie is fantastic. Shes down to earth and doesnt make the lectures seem so heavy. However, her powerpoints for the lectures were a little weird. They were more like this is what were talking about rather than notes, which means you need to be there to hang onto every word. But she is entertaining. Very few assignments.

I found her quite intimidating at first but she really is a good teacher. Very well spoken and would make you understand her lectures just show up in class. I didn't really used the book because her lectures were super clear. Just know how to take notes so that you can follow her lectures. Overall, good teacher very passionate about history.

Loved this class and Professor Purdie! Would take this class again in a heartbeat. Theres only a few tests, and theyre not bad at all. Most assignments are discussion based online. She makes her lectures interesting and keeps your attention. Shes also very helpful.

I took her for HIST 018 and 037. Go to class, pay attention, take notes, and pass all the quizzes! She is not a strict grader. Performance-wise? She keeps the vibe light. She jokes around, and I love it when she argues with students. It is adorable. She is a teacher that thinks like a student. Believe me. She knows how to relate to her students.

I dont see why anyone wouldnt be able to pass her class? I took her for SJS001 and everything she taught was just the bold truth. I loved it she has such a great personality and is a great professor I will be taking her for Womens History and Im so excited!! Makes sure to participate she likes that (:

The organization of the modules behind this(asynchronous) class was impressive. a quiz is due every week (two tries, basically impossible to get a bad grade on) along with either a discussion post, a paragraph on the material, or one of 4 slightly bigger papers(can be done in one sitting). the textbook is mandatory, but for us she posted pdfs.

Such a great teacher! Due to the pandemic, I was nervous to take online classes but Professor Purdie made it super easy. She provided the textbook PDF for our entire class so we wouldn't spend money. She records her own lectures and explains everything! Homework only consisted of discussions boards, quizzes and sometimes a small assignment.

Rachel Purdie is so caring and one of the best professors! She gave many extra credit opportunities if you attended a zoom/canvas chat. She also gives you 2 attempts for each quiz, which is so helpful! I didn't have to buy the book because she gave the class a pdf. The final is short and she gives you about a week or two to complete it.

I took professor Purdies class fall 2020 which was completely online. Im not a fan of history at all but her class was interesting and easy to understand. she posted lecture videos but i hardly watched any of them. If you follow the rubric for the assignments and discussions you will get an A. Highly recommend taking this class if you hate history!

Took her class online during C-19. Keep up with the reading, think before you write, and you'll do just fine. And if you have any questions, she's quick to respond and clarify. Definitely a caring teacher that wants the best for her students, and takes feedback well. Very worth taking!

During the pandemic, Purdie provided the textbook ONLINE for all of her students. The schedule for this course was very consistent, work was always due on Sunday. You get two tries on every quiz and the assignments and readings were very enjoyable. We watched "Iron Jawed Angels" which was an amazing film! This class was loads of fun. Not difficult!

She's the best! Her lectures are short and simple but very insightful. She also gives hints on where to find the answers for each quiz. The due date for all the work is due every 2 weeks plus a grace period of 1 week! She is very responsive and considerate. I couldn't recommend her more!

She allows grace periods without grade deductions for all the module reflections! (Which is helpful) Her lectures are very simple and short. But you do have to read the textbook and watch all her lecture videos because she wants you make some references to these two sources whenever theres a discussion board and to pass all her quizzes. Easy A!!

This was an enjoyable course I learned a lot. Try to take her class during the spring, she gives a talk during march during women's history month. Modules are very structured, she answers emails pretty quickly too. There is a lot of reading, but it is doable if you manage your time wisely.

Honestly was my favorite class I have taken at Solano by far. It is clear she is passionate about the subjects she teaches and cares about having her students learn and pass her class. There definitely is work but as long as you watch her lectures and read, it is an easy course.

Professor Purdie was amazing. Theres modules each week with a week grace period which helped so much. Each module consists of a lecture, a test and another assigment. All were easy to do as long as you read and watch her lectures. Lectures were interesting and not boring. She's also easy to get ahold of outside of class.

Whereas many professors' online lectures are long and boring, Professor Purdue makes her lecture videos almost fun to watch, in my opinion, and are very educational. You can tell she is very passionate of the courses she teaches and such. The answers of the quiz are easily found in her lectures and the textbook.

I struggled being a 2020 high school graduate and transitioning to all online courses and didn't do well so decided to take a break and try again in a year, and this was my first class back, and it went amazing! She wants to see you succeed and that's easy to see!

Professor Purdie was an amazing professor, she was very sweet and understanding. She assigned work due every Sunday, a quiz and assignment which she gave an extra week to get it turned in, after that week she will NOT accept it anymore. Taking other classes sometimes made it difficult to stay on top so it can be time consuming but pretty easy.

History is not always the most fun class but Prof. Purdie tried her best to make it easy to understand. What I loved most about her class was how inclusive and respectful her lectures were. Lots of extra credit to make up for any missed assignments, if you have any. Late assignments were accepted too. Best instructor ever!

She is an amazing, kind, caring professor who understands students circumstances. Attendance is sorta mandatory as in there's sometimes class work that you can't really make up. She has a midterm and a final project where you can do your own podcast or other options given. Overall amazing and very kind. Definitely reccomend.

She starts her class by asking how her students are doing instead of immediately launching into lecture mode. The amount of assignments she's given out isn't that many, but there's assignments she gives out that are specifically for the lecture for you to answer during it and won't hand out if you missed that day.

Prof. Purdie is the most sweetest caring professor. She gives the best lectures and will not leave you confuse like other professors do so. Lectures are light but very informational! A minor complaint was that she let the students take over the class with (irrelevant) discussions & questions that took away from vital lecture time. Our class ended up missing the final chapter.

I didn't have to buy anything for this class, Purdue provided the lecture and text for us to use for assignments. She's really nice and her work is straight forward with no twists or complications. You can tell she's passionate about Women's history. As a full-time worker, I appreciate how consistent the scheduling was for assignments.

Class structure was fairly simple and there was a one week late grace period. Quizzes had no time limit and can be taken multiple times, easy discussions, and source analysis assignments which took an hour at most. Very easy course which for me made it easier to learn the material.

One of my favorite professors for sure! She makes women's history so interesting and easy to learn about. She gives a one week grace period for late work, quizzes which you have no time limit for and can retake until you get a 10/10, and her assignments weren't lengthy. I would 100% take her again. Great Professor! I took her 6 week summer course online. Every week you have 1 discussion post, quiz on chapters/readings/lectures/films, and 1 paper up to 500-750 words. I really enjoyed her lectures they were super interesting. She is very understanding and grades on time. She is quick to respond with any of your concerns. 10/10 recommend!

Seems sweet overall and her readings were pretty interesting despite being lengthy, but does not give feedback on discussion posts and mini papers. She gives you a week to turn in late work, which is plenty. No final at the end!

Class was very enjoyable. There was little in the way of work to do outside of class so attendance and participation were important. Almost everything on the exams was from lecture so if you took good notes in class you wouldn't have to spend time digging through texts.
