Dr. Romain is a very good teacher but she will make you work for your grade. You will definately learn in this class. She makes the class interesting and relates the information to everyday situations.

Dr. Romain is an excellent instructor. She presents the material with clarity and provides excellent notes. She is knowledgeable and attentive in the lab. Her exams are fair and the questions come directly from the notes. Several students, including non-traditional students like myself, agreed that she is among the best instructors they have had.

Dr. Romain is great. The class is not easy - you must study. She is receptive to questions, and her interest in the subject and enjoyment of teaching is obvious. She responds to emails. I would deffinately recommend to others, and would take any class she taught.

Great class and lab. She is very thorough and direct with her lecture and notes. Lecture goes by quickly and lab is stimulating. She is clearly a geeky scientist at heart. You will want to study for exams.

While she is a hard teacher, she does a good job of explaining and going over the material. I dont know why others have said bad things, this is supposed to be a challenging class. She is one of the few instructors I have had at Columbus State who really try to make sure you understand and learn in the class. I would recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Romain took over our class after our instructor had to go on maternity leave. She was great! She really helped me learn the material and went through alot to make sure that we got our grades on time. I know it was a lot of work for her but she really was a blessing to our class.

Dr. Romain is an excellent teacher! Her tests are hard, but I recommend that you always ask for help if you need it. Recording lectures were extremely helpful in this class. She knows her stuff, and shes not an extremely hard grader. So as long as you get the main points your okay! I would recommend not buying the book its too detailed.

Dr. Romain is great! I took her hybrid micro biology course. DONT BUY THE BOOK - she even says in class that the tests are based off of her power point presentations online. Study the power points and lab book. Review the self quizzes - you will do fine

One of the best professors at Columbus State. Took her for Bio 215 last spring and loved the class. She is very helpful and loves to teach. She covered the lab procedures before every lab and made them fun. Her exams were tough but I loved that they weren't all multiple choice. Not an easy A but definately possible if you do the work.

Dr. Romain is an excellent instructor. She knows the subject matter extremely well and does a good job of teaching it to the student's level. She is tough...this is not an easy class, but she is very fair and will do everything she can to help a student out. I highly recommend her but be ready to spend some time studying if you want to do well.

Dr. Romain is a nice teacher & nice pleasant to be around. Her class is difficult though. The exams are hard, but she does grade fairly. She tries to help you in anyway she can, is always available for students. She records her lectures, which are extremely helpful. She gives study guides, but be sure to study in depth. Textbook not required.

I took the hybrid version of microbiology with Dr Romain. She has by far been the best instructor I've had since starting cscc almost 2 years ago. She is amazing. Great personality and it is her goal to make sure every student succeeds. She enjoys what she does and it shows. She's fantastic! If you have the chance, take her! She's the best!

Blended Course: Dr Romain is a fantastic instructor and has interesting lectures. She is very helpful and keeps office hours. She knows the material front and back and makes it understandable to the students. Blended course has a lot of material to cover in a short period of time.

Very nice woman. Gives in-class quiz every week. Tests are stupid hard. Bought book & didn't use once. She puts all powerpointsoutlines on blackboard. Lectures fast kind of hard to understand. She's late to class everyday. Expects your best effort. Class is passable if you show up and do the work.

I was dreading this class, but had to take it for nursing. This ended up being my favorite of the science classes. Doctor Romain is brilliant. I'm certain she's the most intelligent instructor I've ever had. If she speaks you better listen. Keep missed classes to a minimum. Fascinating subject. Dr. Romain is very attractive.

Really enjoyed her teaching style. She's great at explaining things and is very patient. I'm always slow in labs (in labs I've had I'm usually the last one to leave), but she always patiently reexplained things she'd already explained when I asked. This class will make you afraid to touch everything! Or even kiss your spouse! Ignorance (was) bliss!

I took this class 2 years ago, and had hard time finishing the exam. It was the hardest one I had ever took! Although the exam was hard, Dr. Romain did try to make the lecture rich and useful. She is crystal clear! I made it to OSU nursing. I found all the hard work from this class is worth it. Her class well prepares me in pathophysiology now.

Took the class summer 2015. Great instructor and it's really not that tough of a class if you go to lecture or listen to the recorded ones. The effort you put into the material is the result you're going to get. I will say I find this kind of material pretty interesting, especially the immunology part of it.

Take her class!!!!! She is an awesome instructor, gives many examples to help you understand, and truly wants you to do well. I sent her lots of email and she always responded quickly and gave good advice. The exams were challenging but I liked that they were not just memorization. Best instructor I have had in the bio department.

Professor Romain is awesome! I learned more in her class than any other biology course at CSCC. This is micro, you have to learn and you have to study. She always answered email quickly. She knows her material and expects a lot out of the students. I started with a different instructor and am sooooo glad I switched in to her class.

Dr. Romain is great. She is there to help you and will answer emails in a timely manner. She answered all my emails super fast (I emailed her ALL the time). The tests are tough, you definitely won't pass if you don't study. If an online class, LISTEN TO THE LECTURES! Overall, great professor. Would definitely take class again with her!

This is the best professor I have ever had! She made a long lab very enjoyable and I actually learned something, as opposed to most of my other bio classes. I studied a lot but she was always available to answer my questions and help me with the material. Take her class you will not regret it!

Best professor at C state! She gives awesome lectures, provides you with notes, outlines, and exam reviews. She was always available to answer my questions during office hours or email. Listen to her and study and you will do fine in this class! If you skip class or dont do the work you will fail (my friend did this and must repeat).

Love her! She has come to campus just to meet with me. She always has a great way to explain a topic so that I understand it. Take her class! I could not survive micro without her.

Professor Romain is FANTASTIC! She spent time giving me ways to study the material that have helped with all of my classes. She just explains things in a way where you can easily understand and apply the material. Go to class and you will do fine.

Do come to class and lab, but this is not enough. The material is detailed and long and you have about 2 weeks between each exam. These two weeks go by fast so study a little each day. You don't really need the textbook. Lectures, hw, outside resources, and the professor are enough, but do get the lab manual. She goes in depth with all the material

If you really want to understand microbiology take her class. She provides in depth lectures, interesting homework, exam study guides, and lecture recordings. Don't procrastinate otherwise you will fail this course. Her lectures are so detailed that u really do not need the text book, but get it as an extra resource. Again don't procrastinate!!!

She's smart, helpful, nice, and hot. Don't need the book, don't wait until the last minute to study for exams. Homework wasn't that hard and there were only 3 assignments. Exams are similar to homework in that there are very specific questions. Multiple choice was harder than short answers. Lots of memorization of specific diseases.

I know most people do not buy the textbook. But for me - reading the textbook really helped me understand the lecture material better.

She is a young professor, but top notch. She gives amazing lectures and explains processes in ways you can remember. A lot of studying is required to pass the test. You do NOT need the book. Any clinical microbiology class is going to be difficult, however, Romain makes it tolerable and interesting. Great class for students going into healthcare.

Dr. Romain is one of my favorite professors! Her lectures are very interesting and she makes Micro easy to understand. She is very passionate about Microbiology and she wants all of her students to do well. Please take her if you are going into healthcare especially nursing, you will learn so much and you will be well prepared when you start school

Dr. Romain is amazing, she somehow makes microbiology so interesting! Her lectures are engaging, and she makes the subject applicable to everyday life. Other people say she doesn't test over class material, but she does. In tests and homework, she makes you apply microbiology to your life and other situations, so that can be tricky sometimes.

Dr. Romain is one of the best professors. She is incredibly knowledgable and makes a difficult subject easy to understand, and makes lectures interesting! She makes micro applicable to health care. There is a lot of work involved in her class, but if you go to class regularly and do the exam review sheets, you'll be fine.

Dr. Romain was great! I took the blended course so the lectures were online and I only saw her once a week for lab. She was clear during lab and would take questions over the lectures if you had any. Her grading is fair and test aren't horrible if you watch the lectures. Got a better grade with her than I thought I ever would in micro.

Rachel is awesome. Her lectures are great. She does have one group presentation project towards the second half of the semester (after the second test). You HAVE to study for her tests. She grades tough bc she wants specifics. No feedback on assignments. But don't let that scare you off, she's an excellent professor.

Don't recommend micro during a pandemic with no in person labs, but Romain made this class a great experience. Online class wasnt required but she always went through everything you needed so attend if you can. She answered all of my email quickly, including off topic questions. She really cares and put in the time to help me learn micro.

Dr. Romain is so kind. She cares about her students and is very accessible outside class. The class itself is awful though, and I really did not like her tests. I would study and really understood the material, then still get a bad grade. Being online probably didn't help things. I recommend the professor, but despise the class. Lots of hard work.

Dr. Romain was amazing. I was hesitant at first coming into this class, but she made the class enjoyable and created an amazing environment to learn. Lectures were sometimes a little lengthy, but labs were the best part. I highly recommend this professor if you need to take a BIO class.

I stalked the site to get into her class and I am so glad I did, my friends in other sections really had a hard time. You will work don't get me wrong but she was always there to help.

May I say that this professor has the BEST RECORDED LECTURES EVER?! I took this class online with 1 day in person. I can not explain how amazing her video lectures are! Lots of material, but if you study and memorize you will pass. BEST PART IS FOR LABS SHE DOESNT COLLECT THE ACTUAL DATA, SHE ONLY NEEDS PRE AND POST LABS AND THEY ARE ONLINE FOR YOU

The Intro to Microbiology class (the name might change to just Microbiology soon) is a pretty difficult class; however, the professor makes it very worth it and I would take it with her again. I rarely find a difficult science class where I like the professor, but she is awesome!

This is going to be the most honest rating you shall see, read carefully !! This is a great professor very nice literally!! However, the exams are so different from the material we read! Like you have to understand it fully to pass the exam, and have to be super good in biology to be able to do well in this microbio class, (a lot of people dropped)

Doctor Romain is awesome. She is passionate about microbiology, and you can't help but get sucked into her stories. Her lecture recordings tend to be pretty long and, at times, go into deeper detail than covered on the exams, but they were useful! Do the practice quizzes, study guides, and you should do well. Dr. Romain is an incredible instructor - she gives you all the tools to be successful, so use them ALL - lectures, labs, reading, quizzes, videos, study guides. Exam are applied questions and essay questions and you have to understand the material. This is a very hard class but Romain makes it so much fun. Put in the work and you'll do well.

It's a difficult class but you are given what you need to pass. She basically gives you the exam questions, you just need to realize where they are.

All you have to do in order to pass Dr. Romains' class is do the work that you are asked to do. The exams are essentially testing you on whether or not you completed the lecture outlines which are very easy to do as you watch the lectures. You have to do absolutely nothing in her class to have a hard time. 100/10 would take her as my prof any day.
