I was never keen on math until I took this class with Prof. Soyk. She's a bit quirky but it works in her favor. Her passion is contagious and she is one of the few professors out there that still genuinely cares about her students. It is obvious she wants her students to succeed. I really learn when she is teaching, she makes the material cool.

She is a true Gem in the math department. Take her! Very eager about math and tries to help you understand tough concepts and is patient and kind. she treats her students with respect you wont regret taking her!

BEST MATH PROFESSOR for sure. She honestly cares about her students and their future. If you see her on your schedule, DO NOT even think of dropping that class and picking another class you'll regret it!!!

Ms. Soyk is super nice and understanding. She'll help you when you have trouble and is clear through her lectures. Since there is so much material to go over, class time usually goes a bit over time so be mindful of that.

She's really good at explaining the work. She's really human and pretty understanding. She was absent a considerable amount of times, which resulted in subs. We would stay after class sometimes 10 minutes to finish a lecture or quiz. There is quizzes every single class. The expectation for work and effort is unrealistic for students.

this was my second time taking math 190 and i have to say my first professor was terrible and had a really strong accent to the point where I learned nothing. However, professor soyk has been such a good professor and i do recommend taking her class .

Genuinely a great professor, responds to emails almost instantly, is very clear both when teaching and making announcements regarding class, and is very lenient when grading.

Great professor, she's very enthusiastic about math which makes you want to learn more, she's very clear with her lessons and with any announcements. Just be prepared to study a lot, there is quizzes every class and the material moves quickly

Very understanding, if you have any questions for her, she is ready with an answer. Clear and easy to understand lectures. A LOT of extra credit. She's very nice overall, and I would retake her class.

She made Math simple and easy! I understood the lectures clearly and can look back to the recording lectures in case I missed a lecture or review for an exam/quiz. I admire for her clarity, enthusiasm, and commitment to student success. 🙌

The professor and the class were great, however, it really was A LOT of work for the class, between the daily homework, the mandatory tutoring, the daily quizzes at the beginning of the lecture, and the Friday Zoom class homework (written notes and solving similar equations). If you have a tight schedule, I don't recommend you take this class.

The class overall is good, there's a lot of steps to it and getting a good grade. The test are hard so go to tutoring and ask a lot of questions in class or after class don't be scared to speak up about it. Also, be on time because she takes that very seriously and do all homework it will help you get a better grade on test.

Ms. Soyk is a great teacher. She makes sure we understand what were learning, she asks us how comfortable we are with the material were learning halfway through the class. I had a morning class so attendance mattered, if youre late you miss the daily quiz, the quizzes arent diffucult as long as you did the homework or watched the video lectures.

she is an amazing professor. In all honesty the class isn't difficult. If your struggling go to tutoring or study/practice more. Ask questions if you're confused she will answer them.

Presented the material in an organized and understandable manner. Always willing to answer students' questions. Nice and understanding. Dreaded the daily quizzes but I believe that's departmental policy.

She is a very good professor, explains things very clearly in a way that anyone can understand. Provides you with written notes, lecture recordings, study guides and keys with work shown for each question. There is a lot of homework and quizzes, but the class is fair. Hand in assignments on time she doesn't really do late submissions

Overall the course was a bit difficult but if you have any questions or confused she is always willing to help you , makes the course easy to understand.

She made sure everyone understood the problems if there was any confusion on it. It was a short course for 3 weeks but I feel like she did a great job helping Everyone.

Professor Soyk was an amazing professor that I would definitely take again. She, unlike most professors, records every lecture and uploads them all to YouTube to be easily rewatched. Additionally, she has a very lenient grading policy when it comes to quizzes and homework. Finally, she is overall just a cool, relatable, and kind person.

Ms.Soyk is a very nice professor. She is very nice and caring. There were a couple times she gave opportunities to improve our grade by staying the entirety of the lecture, etc.

This professor made the 3 week MATH19500 summer course extremely easy. She made sure that students were passing the class and that they were getting the tutoring that they needed.

Professor Soyk is really accessible. She really tries to make everyone understand the concepts and math problems. She is easily one of the best professors at City College and also one of the most likable ones. If you're taking Math at City, then you should take it with her.

Took this as a summer course so all the lessons were compressed but she did a good job at teaching and working with the students on making sure everyone knew the material. She also gave multiple opportunities for extra credit and to make up work, very lenient and kind

She's an awesome professor! She thoroughly goes through each step in every equation. She also uploaded every lecture for us to refer to later to study and they really help so much. She definitely helps set you up for success and is super fair in how she grades. Taking math 195 in Summer was really hard, but Ms. Soyk definitely helped make it easier

I took a 3 week pre calc lecture in the summer with Ms.Soyk and I would highly recommend her! She cares about our understanding and comprehension in math and is very passionate when teaching.

I'm repeating this class i understand more in that 3 weeks course with Ms. Rachel then in my last semester. I would really love she was teaching my calculus. Very cool teacher

She is very much a good and visual explainer. Even though this is a summer course, there is lots of homework and material to go through, she does a good job going over and provides us with recordings of the lessons.

The professor has a clear teaching style and conveys material effectively. She is respectful, approachable, and creates a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. She also gives students many chances to succeed, showing her supportive approach.

I took a 3 week course with Professor Soyk and I learned more in 3 weeks than I could've in 2 months. Great professor, very active.

This professor is extremely nice and understands the material. She conveys it exceptionally and provides as much guidance as necessary. The only downside is the workload of homework but that's expected from math courses.

professor rachel is so immaculate. the way she teaches the way she talks is just out of this world. she's always on top of grading. quizzes are taken before class and she's very open minded about everything. feel free to tell her anything and everything.

Great professor. My first math course at CCNY and she set a very good first impression. She taught pre-calc way better than my high school teachers even though this course is squashed into only a few months. Very grateful to have this professor.

Takes time teaching the lesson. If you are unable to properly digest the material in class, you can just look up the online lectures, which I did when the situation applied to me. Overall, the class was great.

Easy to follow, makes sure everyone gets the task at hand. Needs to change the mandatory tutoring policy, It would be better if they offered an alternative cause some of us work and aren't able to attend the tutoring classes easily. The tutoring classes make up 4% of the grade.

Come prepared to class by doing the online hw. She can help you understand the concept by break it down for you. Also, she will help the class by giving you the solution to one of your written hw or problems that most or the whole class is struggling with.

great job at going over expectations and explaining the material. she's lectures through every class and won't take breaks but is great at answering questions, so if you're confused speak up. would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants/needs to take math

Professor is amazing! Material is clearly reviewed, will go over types of questions before the exam is even given, sometimes open kote quizzes will happen, and has plenty of material available if you miss a class.

Overall a very good experience, kind professor. Decent amount of homework but it's more important to ace the tests and quizzes for the most part. Test heavy, lessons accessible online and are really straightforward. Professor will set you up to succeed.

I struggled with pre-calc a lot and am retaking the class, and she was beyond helpful. Her lectures are not overwhelming, she takes her time and is super interactive. She really cares and even makes it a point to know all of her students names (which is super rare). Wish she could teach upper level calc classes. Also she offers tons of extra credit

Really like the way she teaches. So kind to student and she is always ready to help student.

Her actual teaching style isn't really much to talk about, she explains the math good enough for most of us to understand. However, she drops a few our lowest quiz grades and one test grade and there is a lot of extra credit possible to fulfill so it as long as you try and do all of the work Pre Calc will be a breeze

This teacher is very helpful as they review tested content before Exams or quizzes and always answers students questions during class.

she uses a screenshare of her ipad for the lessons. everything is super organized. the homework is lengthy but shes not the one that makes the curriculum so thats not really on her.

She explains the content very well and if you have any questions or concerns she productively and efficiently answers them. Take her if you want an easy A.

I would definitely recommend her over other professors that i have heard about teaching the same course.
