Make sure you do homework ahead of time, especially in the beginning it takes awhile. Always do practice tests, makes tests so easy.
He doesn't decide on the homework or tests, its the math department so he has no control over that but he's a very nice guy. He tries so hard to make math easy for all of his students. Take college algebra with him. He tries to help everyone. Very cool guy.
As all college algebra classes the MALL is the worst part. He has no control over the homework and quizes we take and thats the worst part. Overall he is pretty nice and straight to the point. His practice exams are the exams just with different numbers so don't skip them they may save your grade. Uses the i-clickers to keep attendance.
Rachid is a great guy. He cares about his students and teaches clearly. Rachid informs students of upcoming events and deadlines through email and during class. Unfortunately, this is a MALL class and Rachid must go through with MALL policy, although he tries to make students feel comfortable as possible in the painful Math Lab.
Attend every class with your iclicker for a grade. So many homework problems every week but just use a website like mathway. com to answer them quickly. Every test is a replica of the practice test so know how to do it. If you go to him after a test he'll review it with you and will even add points. I once had a test go from a D minus to a C plus.
He is the best professor! my friends did well and keep taking him they recommended him. Excellent!
Awesome professor, he taught the most important topics. Make sure to go to class to receive iClicker points.
For Trigonometry, I think he is the best. He is very thorough and explains how to solve the problems in a way that is easy to understand. He isn't like most math teachers that offer 90+ questions for hw. He gives you enough so that you can understand the lesson and pass the class. His notes are very useful, everything on hw, qzs + notes is on tests
Took math with him in fall spring AND summer, and I can honestly say he is the best teacher I have ever had. Cares a ton about his students, lectures are very clear and easy to follow, and the three final grading options saved me from getting a C to being able to get an A. I definitely think I have a great foundation for calculus thanks to this guy
I've had him for College Algebra and Trig. In Alg, you won't even know he's there. Trig, he's clear in lectures and cares about his students, even when there's 500+. Here's "the deal": You'll love the online format of the class or you won't. Personally I loved it, because it gives clear feedback. But the MALL is the worst, so be prepared to work
Didn't even notice he was there. However, the TAs are amazing and are always willing to help. Almost all of the class is done online which I thought I was going to hate it but it was actually really easy math. Depends on your previous knowledge. Tests are like practice tests but with different numbers. Drops multiple lowest quizzes and assignments.
He's very helpful when u ask or contact him. TA is also very helpful. He does the teaching. Like online class but attendance is MANDATORY.
He's one of the most involved professors I've encountered thus far. He always updates webcourses and posts all of his written notes from class on their as well. Of course the trig course itself requires a little work but it's the usual. An A can be easily achieved.
Professor Rachid was straightforward from the beginning, and he posts pre-class notes before every class. I found that if I printed them beforehand and took them to class, I could focus much easier. As long as you attend class, an A is not a long shot. There are tons of opportunities to improve a bad grade, as the class is graded by many assignments. I would take his class over again 100% of the time.
I barely see the man, but the TA's are nice and helpful. The class I took required no mall hours, we just did weekly objectives online. There are daily class quizzes, which count at 15% of final grade, but they aren't difficult. The whole online system worked really well for me; the freedom is great, just don't get lazy because of it.
This professor is so nice but in algebra at UCF which professor you have doesn't really matter considering all of your work and tests are online. Professor Lahcen is very willing to help if you have any questions or concerns and the class is well organized.
Great professor that really knows what he's doing. He knows the material perfectly and is knowledgeable when it comes to anything math-related. The lecture isn't necessary considering all you need is the online access code and you can get help during MALL/other examples online, but go to it to clear up concepts and further understand.
Incredibly caring and thorough professor. He's very helpful and clear during class and the way he teachers helps you retain the material well. His examples are spot on with the test and his homework and quizzes are reasonable. Take him over anyone else if you can.
Rachid does not really teach because the TA's in MALL do, but he is so nice!!! If you email him he will get back to you in less than 8 hours and he is so understanding! No book needed, but you do need to purchase the code for ALEKS which is the math program.
I hardly ever saw Rachid but on the rare occasion I did he was super helpful. His TAs did most of the teaching for my classes but they were all very good. There is a daily attendance check but as long as you are up to date on the ALEKS work then it takes 5 minutes and you are obviously free to come and go.
This is a large class in 3 rooms, so attendance is not mandatory but you'll miss small quizzes. I never went to class but I'm still getting an easy B and if i really tried on tests and homework it would be an easy A. Take this class if you need an algebra credit and are relatively okay at math, and also if you are willing to learn from online book.
Honestly, he's the best TRIG professor out there. His lectures are awesome and he really cares about the success of his students. Other than that, his grading policy stuff is like the rest if the math department. 40 Q HW, 15 Q quiz, 1 MALL LAB hour a week. 3 tests, and a final. You can a B without giving your all into the class
He is hardly even a professor, you sit in a computer lab working online at your own pace, any teaching is done by the teaching assistances. There is a password protected quiz daily so skipping class negatively affects your grade but the class is easy and his tests are easy too if you did the weekly objectives.
Excellent Professor. Very organized course but you learn on your own and pace and if you need help ask him or TAs.
He is the best math professor I have ever had. He is very accessible, caring, and has a passion for his job. He sits outside with students after class to help them. MyMathLab access code is required, but the book is not because he explains the material so well. Go to class, put in the work, and you will get an A. I wish he would teach Calculus!
This class is relatively easy since most of the homework and class quizzes are done online, but the practice tests do not cover everything on the tests, so make sure you study, and you should be fine. Rachid is very kind and easy to talk to, and he drops your lowest class quizzes, not to mention extra credit to help boost your grade.
Professor Rachid is great he explains topics very well and makes them clear. All his tests are cumulative so make sure if you don't understand something right away you go and get help.
Best math professor I've ever had!! Had him for college alg and trig and somehow he recognized me! Cares about his students and explains topics very well!!! He has an accent, but you can understand him with no problems!
His TAs teach the class, but they're really good and caring! I've barely seen the professor, but when I do he's really nice. The course is online but you still have to show up for the clicker. The online lessons can get pretty annoying because there are a lot but your tests are on what the TA lectures anyway
I took Trig Fall 2016. He gave multiple examples of different concepts in class and was willing to answer any question during and after class. He ended up dropping quite a few assignments which helped everybody's grade. He took attendance via class activity quizzes. Great professor: I would definitely take him again.
One of the better math teachers at UCF, he drops a lot of assignments that will boost your grade. Extremely nice guy as well. Also he is a lot more involved than other math teachers here, what I like is that he always posts the lecture notes. Had him for College Algebra and Trig.
This class is so easy that I forget that im even taking it sometimes. You just have to go to the class, do the IP adress specific class question on the computers ( the topics are spoonfed to you by the TAs). Weekly objective that take half the time of the deadline. And test every month. Easy A
Professor Rachid was great. Class clicks assignments count as attendance in the class so attend and take notes of the lecture. Do your objectives on time. There's about 15 Objective topics. Take the practice test it will help for the actual tests. He gives extra credit points if you do the practice tests. Overall, the class is easy just the work.
I got 100 in the class with the extra credit. Take the practice test till you ace them, see him about it if you need help, skip your homework if you need to make time to see him, He WILL help you. Extra credit based on practice tests is 3% homework is worth 5% and there is a TON of it. Ace your tests, go to class for the 15% attendance.
Very easy class, if you put in the work. Everything is online and you barely see the professor, but he is very accessible if you need help. There are about 15 objectives, each with 20 topics. You have to finish 1 objective a week, they're not difficult just very time consuming. For exams, use the practice tests to study, they really help.
Very good professor, take him if you need the college algebra credit, easy A
Absolutely awesome! I struggle with math and he is such a sweet man, went to every office hour and he helped me with everything. His practice tests count as extra credit and all of the homework balances out any poor test grades.
Such an easy class. You don't see the professor much unless you go to the office hours where he is happy to help. Class activity every class and module every week. The material isn't hard and there are plenty of TAs in the computer lab to help you if you need it. He makes everything super clear and easy.
I like his class and learned a lot. I'll take him again. My friends and I did well. If you hate math or lazy this isn't for you because you have modules every week and class quizzes every class.
I never even saw the guy but I passed his class. The whole class is basically taught by him and a battalion of TAs. You need to show up and do in class assignments, the rest of the work can be done whenever you please. Overall an easy A, even if you put in minimal effort. 10/10 would pass again
Easy class. Attendance is pretty much necessary to do the quizzes but you don't have to stay the whole time. Tests are straightforward. Homework can be annoying but overall pretty easy.
The class was massive and I don't think I've ever actually seen the professor, but the class was fine.
This class might as well have been online. The TA's don't help much, and I have only seen the professor 2-3 times. The "teaching" is two or three examples explained in the first 15 minutes of class by TA's and then you finish your work online. The homework can be overwhelming, when you're not good at math. All in all, not a good class.
He's willing to help if you go to his office. Easy A if you do a lot of homework and practice. Good TAs and tutors are there to help.
The course itself can be very difficult but the professor is great. Everything is done in the labs, but he and the TAs are there to help with anything. He sends out a bunch of reminder and inspirational emails. Make sure you go to class because there is a quiz everyday. It's a lot of work but if you keep up with it, you'll pass.
The class is taught by TA's and I've only seen the professor a couple times. There's a mandatory quiz that is due at the end of every class. It would serve better as an online class. Lots of homework but it's not that tough. Easy A.
Uses Aleks- online course. Large class sizes for all College Algebra classes; mostly taught by TA's. Aleks program is mostly based on self-taught objectives, but you have a class activity due every class
i didn't really see him except for the first day of school. if you have the chance to take online, do it! aleks is so annoying, and you only have to go to class for the attendance quiz. super easy class if you're good at math, difficult if you aren't (like me). you're basically teaching yourself.
This professor is kind of hard to understand with his accent. Professor is very caring about his students. Trig is not a very easy math class but if you study the practice homework you will do fine on his tests.
Don't take this class. It might as well have been online. He doesn't teach, the TAs are confusing and you pretty much teach yourself everything. Had to study for a day just to make a C on the final
Had a difficult time with this class. The professor tries to do many examples but doesn't flesh them out in an understandable way. HW every week, online class activity that requires a password after each class. DID NOT like Wiley, too many problems with the site. Tests were pretty difficult at least for me. MALL required besides on test weeks.
Hes the best for trig but youll study every week and keep up with the work. Trig aint easy!
If you ask to see him and you keep up with the homework youll pass easily. I like it better than other courses and dont know why its not online. If it was I may not do as well. He makes you do a quiz in each class. Happy!
He wasn't really around. There was a small quiz every class and the material for the quizzes was taught by the army of TA's. You basically teach yourself through ALEK's. He does care about his students and is willing to talk about grades etc. Easy class if you actually try on ALEK's or are good with math.
Me and my friend go to his office hours. He knows his stuff well and we get it like a charm. Hes just awesome. His tests are tuff.
I never came in contact with the professor. This entire course is computer based. Basically as long as you go to class for the quizzes and do your homework youll pass easily.
Great professor. Time-intensive; dont fall behind. Download a trig cheat sheet of the formulas, unit circle, etc., memorize early. Book (not my fave) access online. Ask to see hard examples in class. Lahcen goes step-by-step and takes/posts good notes. He's available, answers questions, and respects students. I would definitely take him again!
In his class TAs show you what you need and your work on your own pace. I like that. Knowledge checks can be annoying but they help me remember what I did before. A lot of work but if you it you pass easily. I got A.
While this class was not technically an online class, it was completely online. Professor Lahcen drops 4 class clicks, 4 objectives, and your lowest test grade. Class clicks are only open in the computer lab so if you skip class, youll get a zero (that will be dropped). TAs are very helpful and material is relatively simple.
He is probably one of the best trig professors at UCF. This class is very organized and goes over examples step by step. However, I hate Wiley plus and wished we used a different software for homework.
Go to class for the attendance quizzes (always easy). He drops a few of those and homework. Tests are easy as long as you study an average amount. Don't get too comfortable because I was one point away from getting a B in this class so I had to study hard on the final which was stressful. Other than that, a solid choice.
I took all my math courses with him and Im happy with his teaching. You do class activities and homework. No quizzes.
He's one of the best professors I've had at UCF. He is very nice and explains concepts in a simple way for everyone to understand. Study a decent amount of time if you want an A.
He is such an amazing professor! He makes Trig so easy! As long as you keep up with the examples from class and Wiley Plus you'll do fine! He really explains the process behind the math and makes it simple to understand! I highly recommend!
He's a solid choice I guess? Honestly, this class is all done online and all he does is sit at his desk while his TA's walk around seeing if people need help. Pretty pointless to have a professor in this class tbh. Attendance is mandatory because there's online mini quizzes everyday. You can pop up the last 15 minutes of class to do it tho. So yeah
Simply my best class so far at UCF. If you like to study ahead you can complete it in few weeks.
Great professor who's very encouraging and caring! With most ALEKS based courses, the professor just supervises and leaves their TAs to go around and help out but he actually makes the rounds and helps out students as well. Very accessible outside of class and extremely helpful if you want to complete the course early.
He really cares about his students, and he wants everyone to do well. I saw him in the LAB more than I saw my other math prof. He really tries to work with you and finishing the class early is possible. Go to class for the class questions and just help. He had a review for the final, and that helped me so so much. He spent 4+ hours with us. A gem
Outside of the in class activities, receiving actual instruction is not really a part of the course. However Prof Lahcen is genuinely there to help. He cares about the students. I remember the first time I ever went to the lab he knew my name, and I had never ever introduced myself. A true testament to his character, and his caring personality.
Amazing professor. By far the best I have ever had. he is extremely organized and makes every point very clear. He is not available for trigonometry, but if he was I would definitely take him again.
Best math professor ever! Drops 5 of your lowest quizzes and each quiz has 7 attempts and he drops 1 test. The practice tests are similar to the real test. This class is an easy A, the work is online through ALEKS, you have to show up to take the quizzes in class. Homework every week.
Easy for a math class. It's a computer-based math class inside a lab. You do all the work on ALEKS program which explains a topic right before you do it and then there's 3-5 questions. 20topics each week super easy. You can always go to the MALL (math lab) and get help from the TeacherAssistants or just go in there to work on your ALEKS. Easy exams
I love the TAs, they are very helpful. I visited my professor few times in his office hours and he helped figure out a lot of things. Not much instruction is done in class and be ready to read a lot. Easy A!
For me personally this class is repetitively easy but this doesn't mean you shouldn't study because the practice questions are what's going to be on the exam. During this course I didn't ask a single question to professor Lachen but I did ask one of the TA when I don't understand something and they have been extremely helpful.
He is so vague with his announcements and its annoying. Getting clarification from him is even harder too. Whatever you get in ALEKS is subject to change when he moves it to the gradebook and thats not outlined in the syllabus. Easy class but tedious with ALEKS pie chart
Sends many announcements and you must read them all. has fantastic TAs. I can't believe I passed. Going to him and the TAs helped me a lot!
Professor Lahcen was incredible! The lectures were mainly taught by TAs, who were also amazing, but Professor Lahcen was very kind and helpful to all the students. All-around great guy and an easy class, and Im not a math-oriented person. Would definitely recommend this class.
Best college algebra professor. He is understanding and offers many opportunities to keep your grade up. Drops an exam and a few class activities. ALEKS is used for the course. You have a graded class activity every class and you have to complete modules at home through ALEKS and show up on exam dates. Tests are EXACTLY like the reviews.
Show up, sit down, do the daily assignment in the lab in 5 minutes, get up, leave class, repeat steps. Or don't show up at all and get 100's on all the tests which isn't hard to do at all. You will end up with a B or A. All tests and class assignments are locked to the lab so you must show up if you want to take them. Ezpz.
I like this class and I was able to finish it before Thanksgiving.
Take this professor. His TA are super helpful and he is such a big help if you see him during office hours. take the practice tests they are exactly what is on the exam. This class is also is dependent on your time. You can finish the class than less a month. Overall I love professor Lahcen I am not a math person but passed his class with an A.
Show up, sit down and do class activities. Do objectives before due date or you get more work in aleks. TAs are great and professor helpful if you go see him.
Class was taught mostly by the TAs but they did a good job at it. Tests are based on the objectives so study them and you should do well.
He really cares about his students, and tries his best to make the course easy for them. Attendance is only mandatory because you can only do the class activities in class, so if you don't show up to do them then you get a 0 for the day. The tests are pretty easy if you take the practice tests that he provides for you. Overall, a pretty good course
He is good, you barely see him though. But, he is a good professor for this class. You have four tests and none are dropped, so study by just doing the pretests. You have class activities every class period, so go because you'll get zeros if not. There's also homework each week but you can do it at your own pace.
You really never see the professor because the class is taught by the TA's. You use ALEK'S to do all your weekly homework and take the tests. The class consists of 20 weekly topics, in-class quizzes (the TA can help you), and 3 tests. The tests are easy if you do the practice tests they give you. They have open lab if you need help and make a frien
He comes to class and helps. If you need his help he takes time to explain. You mostly learn on your own but if you need lecture there is a room with lecture done by TA.
he works with you to understand. He doesnt teach in the MALL. Its more of work on your own and get help. Has many TAs that teach. Awesome!
i really liked this class. the work isnt hard at all and the exams were fair. although you barely see the professor, he always sends out reminders on web courses to remind you of deadlines which is convenient.
Assignments are mostly on the computer and the professor really cares about his students. Some assignments are to be in done in class only and most on your own time. Teaching assistants help when needed.
all assignments are online and can be done on your own time. attendance is mandatory because the daily class assignment is locked to the computers in the lab. tests are extremely easy and almost mimic the practice tests.
Easy class to pass as long as you do well on the practice tests.
BEST PROFESSOR! I took college alg and failed it at community college. I took it in 6 weeks with professor and got an A+! There is a lot of work to do between the homework and class activity. Go to class, get class activity credit (easy credit) do all the homework (as many attempts) and go to his office hours for help! He cares about his students!
Class is mandatory to attend because it is the only way to access the lab activities. The professor is not around often, but TA's are available to help and they are super nice and helpful. Class is easy and exams are pretty straight forward. Not much homework given just weekly sections due at the end of each week.
Too easy. I got a 100 for the class and finished a month before the semester ended. You are allowed to take the practice tests as many times as you want and it tells you how to do the problems you got wrong. Keep taking the practice tests until you get a 100. The tests are literally the same structure. Easy class if you are good at time management.
Take his class.
This is basically an online class. You do a classwork in class and then do your ALEKS after. I usually was in class for a total of 10-15 minutes because I just did the classwork and left. Finishing the ALEKS pie is easy. Your lowest test grade gets dropped and you can miss up to 6 classworks.
Hes the best professor. He doesnt teach but he is accessible during class and in office hours. He doesnt rush you. I Liked this class, worked ahead and finished early. If you can manage your time and work on homework and practice reviews you be fine.
He's a super chill guy, but honestly, this class is taken almost entirely online through a program called ALEKS. While he is nice and will always answer your emails, you don't really interact with him. The class is taken via ALEKS. You still have to come to class though for "in class activities", which is annoying. Overall nice guy/easy class.
Just show up, do the assignments, and leave. Easy A. If you fail the tests, that's on you. So take the practice tests they put up on Alek.
He is the most involved math teacher I've seen. Extremely nice guy that would postpone deadlines to help his students. He also drops a lot of assignments to give you opportunities to skip class and miss few weekly assignments. Class generally takes a great amount of your time but if you do your homework and practice before tests you should do well.
Class and office hours held by TA's, I don't even know why his name was on my schedule. You'll only struggle if you're not great at Algebra. ALEKS is used for everything in class and homework. It's not hard, but ALEKS makes it frustrating. If you have to take 1105, it's not terrible but try to get a prof who might actually teach you something.
This class just kinda sucks because it's all on ALEKS. There is a "lecture" done by teacher aids where they do 5ish examples on the board. So get ready to teach yourself. I never saw the actual professor speak, everything is done by the student-teacher aids, some of which do not speak very well in front of a class due to nerves.
Took this class twice as I failed the first time, and in the two semesters I spent taking this class I believe I saw the professor about three times. Everything is taught by the TAs and most of them can barely teach. Normally not bitter when it comes to things like this but it's hard to justify spending tuition money to basically teach yourself.
Enjoyed the course. TAs teach and you can finish course early if you put the work.
Professor doesn't really teach, run by TA's. Still a very easy class. You can leave class early once you finished your one assignment per class day. Also able to finish course early is your'e on top of it. Very easy class, would highly recommend.
Took online, very easy class. All assignments and test are run by Aleks and if you get a bad grade you have multiple attempts to fix it. His lectures and notes are amazing tips when doing test and homework. Will have to put it in work to figure out some problems, but overall very easy A if you put in some work.
Honestly the best math professor I had. I never knew I could actually past Calc with an A and actually learn. He makes the class possible to pass with homework, lecture activates and test. Unlike most professors his class isn't centered on test but rather you learning the information. Records all his lecture and even comes on zoom to give more inf
Rachid is the most lenient teacher I have ever had in UCF, certainly in the math department. If I where taking calc1 again, Rachid would be a must. The exams are easy, the grade is not a few things. I hear about other teachers requiring more of their students while Rachid is always cutting his students a break. You NEED Rachid.
Lectures are very easy to understand and he is very open to taking questions. Several review sessions before tests. Each test is like 8 questions, 2frq, and they're very basic questions. On homework assignments you have 7 tries for each question and it gives you the answer after 3 wrong attempts. If you miss you can request extension to 80% max
Took AP Calc AB in high school and this was much easier. The tests are pretty easy they are not super tricky, very straight-forward. His lectures are good. The homework is gracious and allows for multiple attempts. There are a lot of deadlines throughout the week but if you are on top of it it should be fine. If not, there are extensions allowed.
Very good experience in this course. Took AP Calc AB in High School but this was much easier. Clear and concise expectations/details in syllabus and grading, no curveballs. Exams were very easy.
Professor Lahcen is not only extremely knowledgeable in calculus but also very easy to work with. His teaching alright: it could be better. The class itself was easy because he gave unlimited attempts on homework and the exams were open-note, at least during remote instruction. Even if the exams weren't open-note, they were still very very easy.
Take this man! Easiest Calc 1 teacher !
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. Im telling you this professor is a life saver. I took Prof Lahcen during the fall and he is such an organized teacher. Directly tells you what he expects from you so its not at all confusing. Webassign HW, 4-5 Exams (8-9 questions average) & discussions are all that consists of your grade. Take him you won't regret it. Easy A.
Nicest professor ever, he really cares about his students and makes an effort to be light hearted and humorous in lectures. A few Aleks assignments every week but very manageable. Quizzes each week but only 5 questions and super easy.
Rachid is an absolute godsend for Calc 1 and he seriously made one of the hardest classes for me extremely approachable. I wish I could say the same about Calc 2 right now (which I'm absolutely struggling in), but he is a great choice for Calc 1. Go for it.
If you have to take Calc 1, take it with this professor. I got 100s in almost all of his exams (he has 4 for the whole course and a final). He has a bunch of resources for students if they don't understand the material and he also actually explains things in class. Show up to all of the reviews he has for students and you'll get 100s in his class
AMAZING Calc 1 Teacher. 10/10 would take again. He will show you exactly what you need to do. Not a free grade, but if you do the homework and pay attention when you get confused, you will do fine.
Professor Rachid was an amazing professor. He's very lighthearted and kind, and he's also very helpful during lectures. Exams were based off of lecture questions and homework problems. If you do your homework and watch lectures/read his notes you will very easily pass his class.
Dr. Lahcen was an amazing professor. He is easily the best option to take for calculus I. He gives a bunch of homework that is impossible to not make 100s on and the exams are directly based off the homeworks. There are no surprises at all! He is a great lecturer and you can tell that hes passionate about his job and his students. 100% take him!!
Best Professor for Calc 1. I was so nervous to take this class but Professor Rachid made it very bearable. Exams were very fair and based off the homework and his lectures. You can tell he really cares about helping his students succeed. I hope I get to have him as a professor again in the future.
Great class! All of his tests were open-note and open-textbook, which is extremely helpful when trying to remember formulas and such. There is a ton of homework, but it is unlimited tries, and there are plenty of tutorials on every question to help. I never showed up to a single lecture and got an A. 10/10 would recommend not a bad guy at all.
Homework is on WebAssign but you have unlimited tries. Also, opens early so I did all of them on time. Exams were easy and I used the homework to help me. Calc 1 with Dr. Rachid was easier than AP Calc AB in high school. The TA said recitations were mandatory but I only showed up once and never again. Never went to the lectures and got an A.
Very straight forward, take him. Do your homework, he accepts late grades. Four tests, 8 questions in an hour and you submit your work for the last question. None are dropped and they're through proctorhub. A few easy lecture activities, recitation activities, and discussions. Final is 12 questions, two hours, not proctored, and two attempts
Though there was a lot if work, between weekly objective assignments, two or three quizzes, and hw, with having your own schedule for it and writing notes from lectures, it was very manageable. He was a great professor.
I didn't show up to any of the lectures as I found the class to be extremely easy. Weekly quizzes, Objectives, Knowledge Checks, and Class Activities on ALEKS. I finished all Objectives by February, so I only did the quizzes and class activities. 3 tests, lowest is dropped. Overall, very easy material, and lots of grades dropped.
Took calc before so thought this class was super easy. His homework system is super easy with multiple tries. Drops so many grades that you can skip multiple assignments and still get an A. Tests were like the review sessions that were held and were open book. A lot of assignments but really don' take long at all.
Rachid has to rank as the best professor I've taken. His lectures are very clear and organized, with several example problems. He seems to really care for his students and that shows in his teaching. He has several supplemental videos for every section on top of his live lectures. Genuinely a great guy, definitely take him for Calc I.
One of the best professors Ive had so far you will regret not taking him
Dr Rachid is my favorite teacher I have taken at UCF, his lectures are so engaging and thorough. I have never been more confident that I am prepared for future courses!
This professor has such a good understanding of the subject and knows how to share his knowledge with the students in a way that everyone can understand. All of his lectures includes several practice problems to help you understand. He drops assignments like no ones business. Definitely recommend.
Take him. Dont read these reviews, just take him. Amazing guy. Amazing lectures. Easy A and you get to understand calculus like its entry level math. This class is my fav class this semester. Deserves 5/5 stars.
He is a great calc 1 prof, 100% recommend him, show up to lectures do the homework to review and get it in your mind. He will drop your worst test grade 1 of 3. Textbook is free online I never used it, but I had a friend in the class who was not as good at math and they still recommend him because he just teaches the material very well.
The best math professor I've ever had. Homework he gives is awesome practice, and you can go back and practice new problems whenever you want. I was so scared to take calc, but this professor is hands down the best. Of course there is a good amount of homework and you HAVE to study, but it's not bad at all! I had a great time in this class!
He is a great guy, easy to understand, and teaches the material thoroughly while also making it easy. I have an 100 in the class and Im no math wiz. Just make sure you pay attention and write down the practice problems that you do in class and you will do great.
Had a great understanding of Calc 1 with Prof. Rachid. Really care for his students succeeding and provides help even outside of class. If you struggle with math, take Rachid as he will ensure you walk out of class knowing what it is you do. He will answer any question you ask of him. Really, I mean really nice professor. Drops a few HW and 1 exam!
Nice teacher. We used knewton alta this year and the homework was absolutely annoying and tedious. Sometimes he teaches a different way from the homework which is slightly annoying but if you do the homework enough its manageable. Drops a lot of grades so you can miss a few. 4 exams, lowest of first 3 is dropped and final cant be dropped.
Professor Lahcen is one of the best teachers I've ever had, with lots of structure and has clear outcomes for the course. The class entails lots of assignments and homework but it is very helpful for learning the course content. Many assignments are dropped, and one of the first three exams is dropped.
A good amount of homework, with great lecture examples and practice .
I LOVED THIS PROF! This was the easiest class for me this sem, bc all you gotta do is the hw, which is unlimited attempts. The recitation activities are easy, and the exams are based on the notes taken (as in the same q just different numbers put in). We had exam review before exams every Friday and the qs were exactly same as the exam. Easy class!
Lots of drops, including 1/3 tests, & 8 assignments He's very accommodating - made lectures in-person & online simultaneously. I took 2 Calc classes in HS, & I feel Rachid taught the minimum. He could've explained more thoroughly or connected concepts more. If this is your highest math, definitely take this, otherwise, consider others.
Participate and do homework in time.
Professor Lahcen is a great professor for Discrete Math. While at first, his lectures might be difficult to understand, after a few weeks, you start to understand his lessons. His exams are weighted heavily, but are all from the lectures, with no trick questions, which is really great. He will answer any questions you have and is approachable.
The examples in the lectures are similar to what is given on the test. Just go to class and do the HW and the material with come easily to you. Professor Lahcen was super understanding and would push back homework if he felt he might've not given enough time.
Best professor for calculus. He shows you how to study and understand math. If you don't take him you'll probably regret hahaha I'm done and out
I wish he teaches physics too. The best professor I had at UCF. Attendance isn't required but don't miss class if you want to do well, attend reviews and do homework. That's all!
He is easily the best math professor I have had thus far at ucf. He is extremely fair with grading, drops lowest exam, and genuinely cares about you learning the material and passing. I think if you show up to lecture and take time to do the homework, its nearly impossible to get any lower than a B with his grading
Professor Lachen is a great professor! While you do not have to show up to the meetings I would recommend it as they will help you. His grading is amazing and just an overall great professor to take! He is also very helpful when it comes to questions and takes time to go over it and he teaches very well. I highly suggest this professor.
Professor Lahcen is a great professor! The tests are fair and the quizzes are take-at-home and help you prepare for the tests. His grading is lenient and he drops lowest grades on quizzes, tests, and homework.
Instead of teaching calculus in a convoluted way, he is very skilled at teaching the subject in a way that makes it easy for students to understand. He really prepares you for his exams and the exams aren't too difficult themselves.
Best professor ive ever had. he is very lenient with assignments and understands if you submit late. wants his students to learn and really cares for them. online homework and quizzes tests only on fridays.
I really loved this class and the professor and this is coming from someone who hated math growing up. There was a lot of flexibility for people of all learning types to succeed. If you were fine, he left you alone to do your work but there was a lot of resources and people to help you ask much as you needed. He seemed to really want to help.
I think I saw Dr. Lahcen probably once the whole semester lol, however I found the class structure easier to manage. Everything is through ALEKS. Tests are easy as long as you practice objectives and do the practice tests. He answers emails quickly. Drops lowest objective, lowest exam, and two lowest class activities.
RECORDS LECTURES! This should be the norm for all courses tbh. He has an accent but you can perfectly understand everything he says. He really cares about his students and doesn't overcomplicate the material.
To me Prof. Rachid is really great. He is open talking to students and will explain problems in-depth even if you ask in personally. His major was mechanical engineering, so he will have a lot of experiences in finding you internship, as well as which classes you should take seriously.
He is a very good professor and really cares about students there are many drops and it is doable to get an A. I have an A right now. He is easily accessible.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER. I seriously could not recommend it more. He is so nice and cares about his students. He has predictable homework, one chapter homework a week. There are only 3 exams, with one dropped, and a final. He is very knowledgeable and explains why functions or equations work the way they do and where they come from. Take his class
I LOVE this professor. Everything he did showed how much care he had for his students I really do wish every math class could be taught by this man. I normally suck at math like I had failed in High School but if you work hard and study the homework the exam is just like it! I seriously can not recommend him enough, if you can take him do it!!!
Went to class twice and never again. Very Easy class but if you don't go you will get an A but not be prepared for Calc.
I enjoyed this course. I attended each time even if it was 7:30am. He always answered questions and took time to explain.
Professor Lahcen's class is about what you can expect out of a math class. One homework assignment a week that is about 30 questions and then a lab. He will take the time during his lectures to help you understand anything you don't understand. There are 3 tests that account for most of your grade but if you do all the homework you should do well.
I only went to class once the whole semester and ended up with a 98% in the class. As long as you keep up with the homework and do some studying for the tests you will be fine. He is very caring and does whatever he can to give support for his students. He offers 5% extra credit through a study plan on the homework website.
Attending class is very helpful and making sure you understand the homework. Professor is nice and helpful.
I've always hated math, but this class was somehow pretty enjoyable. Doing the online homework and taking notes made it easy to understand and keep up. The MALL activities were very straightforward and were the same style of questions as the homework, sometimes even the exact same question. As long as you put in some effort you should be fine.
There are usually two assignments per week (including online MALL). Attendance is not mandatory. Lectures are also available through Zoom and recorded. The teacher is nice. I sadly did not go to class after the first week. Have self-discipline. It's not bad.
Enjoyed this class and I wish he teaches calc 1. Weekly hw and labs. He drops a test and few hw and labs.
Takes notes with you, gives you resources to go well in this course. Overall makes his material very accessible and easy to understand. Would definitely take again.
highly recommend attending lectures because he explains everything so clearly. he really cares about his students and how well they understand the subject
I thought that he was very well spoken and made it easy to learn math. Did examples in class with detail and it matched the homework exactly. Had a zoom option if you couldn't make it to lecture. Uses Mylabs math Pearson; as long as you have an understanding of the program you will get a good grade.
He makes the class so easy & so accessible with zoom classes, in person classes, and recorded lectures. Exams are based entirely on homework and the final is based entirely on past exams, so it's very easy to practice and prepare. Very sweet & truly cares. Loved him and hope I have him for calc!
Lectures made the material easier to understand. Class could either be taken in person or through zoom. Aside from it being a 9 am class he always was energized and seemed happy to be there. Before tests he will have extra office hours and sends out review work so you can practice before hand. Good teacher to have if you usually struggle with math.
He's a very good professor, he is always very nice towards students and always answers questions. You have both an in-person and zoom option which was nice, and he also uploads the recordings to webcourses.
Finished with 102% lol. Dude's a great lecturer and super nice to students, it's very obvious he wants his students to be prepared for future math classes. Go to lectures, do the homework and pre-malls AHEAD OF TIME, still go to the malls if you can, and use the non-credit quizzes/exams to review. Easy A. Hope to take him for calculus.
The class was taught in a very clear-cut way and Professor Lahcen made sure to explain new concepts in a very intuitive manner for students who aren't the most well-versed in mathematics. Homework assignments are easy and straightforward and are taken directly from lectures, exams are taken right from the homework assignments.
Lahcen explains complex topics very well. He teaches in lectures but he is also vey flexible to students who are not able to attend lectures. He provides all the materials needed to succeed and do well in his course so as long as you do everything and study, you can easily pass the course.
Overall an easy class. Just do the bonus quizzes and you will get an A on the exams. Lots of homework and quizzes, but make sure you do them. He also gives 5% extra credit if you do the work for it.
Everything is laid out for you days before the class starts. He has everything organized neatly online which helps so much! He's very understanding and works with students well. Highly recommend this professor!
This class was very accessible and lightly self-paced. Attendance is necessary due to class activities. Tests can be taken early, classwork can be done at home. Highly recommend!!!
Professor Lahcen's class is so easy. Class is so flexible, you can get there late, and you basically just go to do the weekly assignment, then you can leave, which takes about 20 minutes max. Homework is on ALEKS and is very straightforward and easy. Test questions are straight from the homework, very easy. The TAs do most of the teaching though.
This class was super easy. Nice professor. Lectures consist of a class activity which usually took me no more than 20 minutes to complete. Weekly homework. A total of 4 tests and one gets dropped. He gives practice tests which are very similar to the questions on the exam. TAs do most of the teaching.
3 tests and lowest is dropped. Many other dropped assignments. Good class. Do recommend attending and working on Aleks pie each time
Clear lectures and were early in the morning. 3 tests with lowest dropped and final. Attendance in person or Zoom. More work but best class I took at UCF.
Amazing class, with a lot of TAs who are clearly passionate about math(unlike other classes). They do around a 15-minute lecture, and after you complete the very easy assignment, you are free to leave. This flushes out the majority of the class, letting you get a lot of 1 on 1 help on things you don't understand. Tests are also the practice tests.
Took him for Math Launch. Really helped me review math from high school that I forgot. While Math Launch is self-paced, he helped wherever he could and made it a great experience. I definitely feel like I'm prepared for Calculus next semester.
There is no teacher better than him! I took him for Intermediate algebra because I wanted a review before college algebra. There was not one moment I was lost. He lectured very clearly and even with an accent you can understand everything perfectly. After there were mini quizzes only to do in class and if you needed help he would gladly help.
Sweetest math teacher I've ever had, he makes sure his students understand what he is teaching and seems to genuinely enjoy what he does. Take his class if you get the chance!
This class in general is fairly easy, as someone who is not good at math. The class, while in person, is all on an online textbook. While attendance isn't taken, the class assignments are only accessible in the classroom so you need to show up. He lectures but usually only for 15ish minutes of the class. Be prepared to learn most online on your own
My Math Lab homework for every lesson, but was good for practice and understanding because his tests are just questions from MML. Tests had lockdown browser with camera. Quizzes had no lockdown and 7 attempts for each. Drops lowest test, quiz, and hw. I learned the most when he did examples of how to do the hw. He's good take him!
There's 5 hours required in the lab per week. I never saw the professor because the class was ran by TAs, but he responded to my emails quickly and was nice. I'd highly advice meeting with your peer coach early on so that you have a schedule to follow for the semester. I didn't do this and struggled to finish all of it, so don't be like me!
It was a pretty easy course with two assignments needing to be turned in every week on My Math Lab. He gave practice exams for every test. For his online course we used Lockdown browser with web cam to take all the exams. He is very kind and reaches out to students who are not doing well in his class!
This class will be very easy if you have taken any advanced math in high school and apply yourself.Every week, you must spend 5 hours in the MALL: 2 hours from lectures and the remaining hours during the MALL's open hours. The professor is quick to respond to emails and grading. If you need help with a problem, there are LAs available to assist you.
i was nervous going into the course as math has never been easy for me, but i enjoyed the way this class was structured and got an A! the professor is super caring and easy to reach out to. there's typically two mathlab assignments a week, which i find super helpful for mastering material, 4 quizzes, and 3 exams + a final. i would highly recommend.
I didn't find the material difficult, and his lectures were very helpful. He used examples and made sure we understood the material. There are 2 homework assignments each week, but we usually did them in class. Three in-person exams, lowest is dropped. There were 2 lectures a week, the second one having an in-class assignment. Would take again.
barely interacted with him, but when i did, he was a nice guy! come to class every day, theres in-class assignments that you cant make up. study for his tests and dont wait too long to start the homework. the TAs are in charge of lectures and helping you. i was emailing him at the end of the semester, and he was easy to reach and helpful.
Lectures are taught by him and TAs in separate rooms, other than that you won't be interacting with him much but he's a very nice guy and easy to reach. You have to attend for class activities but you can choose to leave once you finish (they are very short with 7 attempts) or stay and do homework. A lot to go over but it's definitely manageable.
I didn't interact with him much but the class overall is really easy. Just show up to class and do the in class assignment and focus on your ALEKS pie chart. 3 tests with one being dropped and then a final exam. The exams are super similar to the practice exams so practice them a bunch. Criteria for the class is straightforward.
Easy class. Class consists of Activities (2-5 questioned, in class), Objectives (Long assignments, could take up to 3 hours, have a week to do), and Tests (Very easy if you do the practice tests). I enjoyed the setup of this class as it was pretty straightforward. Only interacted with the head professor during reviews, he's helpful and caring.
Everything is self-paced. He is very accommodating though, extended deadlines for everyone as well as let people move up in courses without completing everything required (such as not getting at least a 70 or missing assignments). You'd just have to talk to him. Takes the highest grade if you have multiple classes.
This class was very easy & good to take for summer! I had M-T, only mandatory to go the days you had quizzes/exams. It's good to go to lecture but, all work is done online. The hw was manageable, do not wait until last minute. Professor is very caring, responds to emails, & is very understanding. Exam content is similar to hw, no surprises!
Great math professor. Exams are just like the homework so no surprises. Gives decent lectures, only requires you to attend one lecture per week to get passcode to class activity quizzes for the week. Homework is pretty light, just use your lab time to do it and you won't have to worry about it at home. Would take again with professor Lahcen.
Easy GEP! Only TA's taught the class. You leave after u finish the assignment, sometimes took a few mins. The exams are VERY similar to the practice test.
Very easy class, all work is done through the ALEKs website. Attending class is mandatory to complete the assignments but a few are dropped, usually they only take 20 minutes. Lectures are provided by the professor and TA's if you need it but it's an easy class, and the practice quizzes are really helpful.
Sooo easy. So easy that I hated I had to come all the way to the classroom just to get an assignment done in ten minutes then go home bc its unaccessible at home.
Very easy class! There were daily class activities that could only be done in the classroom that took maybe 10 minutes or less and you could leave as soon as you were finished. Tests were very similar to the practice tests. Almost everything was done on ALEXS so you could work ahead if you wanted to and the Professor was extremely helpful!
Attendance is mandatory through class assignments in ALEKS - you can miss a couple of them without penalty though. Practice tests are very very similar to the actual tests and one of the tests is dropped at the end of the semester. ALEKS is bad though, not from the fault of the instructor though.
This professor is super nice and caring. He teaches very well and is open to office hours. He will help you, but if you are not good at math, this class will be difficult. I am very bad at math and struggled with this course. His TAs for this semester sucked, and he would only teach one classroom out of three. There are only 3 exams plus final.
I enjoyed his class. Attendance is mandatory and I go to MALL each time. Well organized!
The professor is very kind and helpful. There are tons of opportunities and resources to understand the concepts, whether with the TAs, the professor, or study hours at the MALL. Attendance is mandatory. As long as you study the practice test, an A is very possible.
Probably the easiest class at UCF. The professor is great at teaching, but you can also ignore him and progress through the class at your own pace. Many grades are dropped: your lowest exam, lowest weekly objective, and six class activities. The content is easy to comprehend, but if you're struggling, a TA is quick to come over and help.
Really important info for people new to college! -The class is in three different rooms, so the actual professor is in one and the other two rooms have teaching assistants, so you don't interact a lot with the professor unless you actively go to him. -The two times I did ask him for questions in the course; he was extremely nice and helpful.
I'm always iffy with math but he knows how to explain. We had amazing guest speaker and some student present. Want take another class with him but no luck because of my major.
Pretty much the whole class is on ALEKS. Every class consists of a class activity thats usually like 3 questions, and you can leave when you're done. TAKE THE PRACTICE TESTS, the actual tests have the same exact type of questions (including the final). Every week there are objectives due which I recommend doing a few every day.
