If you need to LEARN mAth, do NOT take this teacher. He can't teach. He makes the simplest things seem impossible. When you leave ghis class, you will feel like an idiot.
He took simple math and made it way too difficult. Also, he was a half hour late to every class. Stay away.
I agree that this guy makes what should be simple, hard. If you care about your GPA, avoid him like the plague. His tests make you ask, "How where did this come from?!?"
This Professor was very difficult. He did not go into detail explaining any of the theories and relied on student studying and the course disk to teach the class. The only things I learned were through my own teaching. The tests covered very little class notes.
I received an A in the class after a lot of studying. I worked my butt off for the Hawkes online homework. I'm not a test taker so I received B's on my tests. He's a pretty good teacher if you study ahead of time, ask questions, follow his lead, and most definity, have a strong background of elementary algebra.
Good Teacher!
Good teacher. I enjoyed his class!
I promise you DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN. He is FOUL! Even though I have never met the person reading this take my word for it. AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COST. Avoid what ever he teaches. I took his cals and dropped it. A girl made a 6% on a test. 6%!
Greet teacher!!!!!!
He is very disrepectful to his students and talks down to them.
His explanations are garbled.
he makes you show 100% of all work.. or he marks points off test. he doesnt really explain things if you have a question.. just kinda keeps moving.. he does make you think for yourself.
not only does he talk down to his students ... he would also give u a "FREE F"!!!!... watever he teaches in class doesnt appear in his "2" questions quiz or exam!! I taught i culd PULL in this class but due to his marking skim... IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE!! ANY1 WHO TAKES THIS CLASS SHOULD BETA KNOW HW TO PRAY AND FAST!!!!!!
He is a great Professor. Very smart and easy to work with. I took 2 classes with him. If you are a Math students take him. You are not going to regret it. You'll really learn Math.
I didn't really learn anything helpful. His class was terrible at most times. He is kinda arrogant. Exams were hard and this is coming from a spectacular math student. I receive a C grade >:(
Suxxx.... doesnt listen.. cant explain... bad professor.. a man i could drink w/ but cant learn from this guy.. mumbles, rambles on instead of speakin clrearly and explaining
He is arrogant and his class is hard but he does know his stuff. The problem is he thinks that because he likes math so much that everyone should and be able to pick it up fast. And if you dont he doesn't help. Tell you to go back and repeat the previous course.
I believe another teacher said this was his first time teaching probability which may explain a lot. This class is pretty challenging. He is not that great in this subject. Most of the time we were teaching ourselves. He is always 15 mins late to class.
This guy cool. He's worth the money, OK. Best of three I took classes with here. Gives lot of examples. Hard to get A if you take him but learn a lot...
This guy cool. He's worth the money, OK. Best of three I took classes with here. Gives lot of examples. Hard to get A if you take him but learn a lot
Great professor. I enjoy every class, he is very helpful and funny. He made math funn.
STUDENTS BEWARE: Somewhat knowledgeable though he's COMPLETELY arrogant (haughty) and most of all LACKS ANY SORT OF COMPASSION. He will make the effort to fail you, but not to help. BTW, I am not biased in any way toward hating math, on the contrary I enjoy it. I took this same class with a DIFFERENT teacher and got a high A.
Good class. Read the book before classes (so you can better understand what he teaches)--that helped me a lot. He explains every concept at least two times--which may be helpful for those who struggle with Calc. He is knowledgeable and emphasizes the trig part of the calculus. 4 pop quizzes (or 5.. I do not remember), 3 exams, and one final.
This professor is very knowledgable when it comes to Math and he grades based on what you STUDIED, not what you memorized. You need to actually put in effort in his class (my Math lab, take good notes) because he definately is not a teacher to "bump up" grades. Good quality overall but if you are not strong in Math, this class may be hard for you.
I took this class online. Considering the level of the homework (that covered the whole chapter), the exams were extremely easy. 10 multiple choice (7pts each), 2 show all work (15pts each). 2 exams @ 15% each, final @ 30%, 5 homeworks @ 4% each, 5 quizzes @ 4% each. He was quick to respond to questions posted on the discussion board and e-mailed.
He's a very fun teacher and quite humurous too. Just make sure u pay attention in class and always try to be on his good side. He's a nice guy bt once u get on his bad side, it's trouble. Overall he is a fun teacher and I would recommend him to anyone whose seeking a cool down to earth teacher :)
If you're good at math and learn it easily and quickly then you will do well in his class. If you are not like this, then you're doomed. He goes through about 2 sections a class and expects you to do about 80% of the practice questions in the book as part of his "study guides". He's very arrogant and not very helpful at all.
Took him for online Finite Math. Gives tons of material for "study purposes" but you'll only see 30% of that on the tests. Nit picks: if u work out a problem on the scratch paper & not where he wants he takes off big points which seems beside the point; almost to set you up for failure. If youre not strong in Math dont take him particularly onlin
if you dont know the material youre short out of luck because he moves really fast. It's like he expects you to know the material before he even teaches it and when you dont understand he makes you feel uncomfortable to even ask a question. I wouldnt recommend him. I was in a class of almost 30 and at end of semester there was only 10 left!
Can be effective when he actually focuses on teaching a topic but seems to lack a course lesson plan, dawdling over limits & speeding thru later topics. He's unpredictable, saying he'll test on something but then not doing so. He gives lots of xtra credit. Pop quizzes: 15-20 min for 2-4 probs. Untimed exams: ~10 probs (not much room for error!)
GOOD professor
horriable teacher.he goes over problems thts already explained in the textbook. He doesnt teach well. and he will have you going further in the text teaching you other chapters when the test you have next week is on previous chapters you covered 2 weeks ago. Why wasn't we going over the work that was going to be on the test?
Your grade is dependent on the type of learner you are, he teaches from the book. Test are 10 problems max....All that being said if you show up everyday, ask questions(even when he replies you should already know this) and go to the math lab for help you too can get an A. I am not good at math but his teaching style was good for me.
Please do not waste your time/money with this professor. There are much better profs available who will actually teach you - he won't. If he doesnt allow his students to ask valid questions (one would think an integral part of learning) without belitteling them he shouldn't have a teaching position. Period.
Don't recommend moves entirely to fast and says "it's in the book" has an attitude problem
This prof. was not helpful in class, he moves on to another topic without the previous one is understood, he has no patience what so ever. It's almost like he don't care who learn or not.Unfortunately i fail his class, the next semester i re-took math 135 online and passed it. Hope this is helpful. I recommend you find another prof.
he is not helpful at all; I do not recommend this professor!
Please do not take his class in your own interest. I am a very good student with A's and I thought it doesnt matter who I take my class with, but I was wrong.I had all A's in his test but I didnt know whatever happen on the final and I had B overall grading, plus his teaching style is out of it, I was myself my prof. because I teach myself.DO NOT.
DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE AVG IN MATH! If you can teach yourself (which I had to do), & you don’t mind getting belittled in class, then he is the prof for you. There were about 25 students in the beginning of the semester. By the end of the semester there were about 4 of us left. He is tough and I wouldn’t recommend him.
Oh my God!!!This lecturer is the most terrible I have ever see in my entire life. Too rude, and really doesn't know how to deliver to the average student. Seriously,to any student. Too bad
He's really not THAT bad. He is rude at times but he can also be funny, over all he is a good guy. He's really straight forward on how hard his class is. Get a 90 or better on HW, do the extra credit, work hard STUDY for test and you will be reworded. If you know your math and are willing to do the work then like me you can achieve a B.
Took math 1350 online. Horrible instructor. Would not answer questions or take time- would simply reply "if you're still confused, come to my office." I do not have time to go there- that's why I'm taking online. Didn't explain anything. Had to teach myself everything from book. Quizzes covered more than homework. You're on your own for this class.
His thinking of "you should already know this" should be unacceptable to the math department. Someone may have taken the prerequisite 10 or more years ago; therefore it is his job to explain what someone does not know.
He is unique, this guy wants you to participate, "talk math" he says, understand not memorize the stuff, OK. Takes you to the board and help you solving problems there. It made me feel better. Got only a B, because one bad test. No matter, he's good. If he teaches Calc next fall I take him again.
It sucks it's so hard and unclear. He is hard to get into contact with. Hopefully with a little extra credit I'll be able to pass. The material is extremely difficult, and the prof is not helpful.
u r boring
WORST MATH PROFESSOR EVER!! He wants you to explain why you got your answer on the test ALTHOUGH the directions doesnt say to do that!! Dont even bother trying to haggle your grade, he wont budge. If you are able to teach yourself than by all means take him.
I adore math. Professor Georgescu gave me a really life changing journey. I recommend if you were to take him you have to be on top of your game. I am the greatest math person ever. I made it.
He is the worst math teacher at Pgcc. He helps you with nothing and gets mad when u ask for help in class. I advise everyone to never take him in fact I'm Tryna meet with the dean hopefully he gets fired
You pass him, you're gooood for Calc.
He is a good professor, however online classes are predominately a class that you will be on your own. He will ask if there are any questions, but it's up to you whether or not you want to get help when you need it. It is not good to be stuck on a homework for a long time so get help immediately. He has a Romanian accent so you will have to listen.
I learned a lot from him. However, the way he explained stuff could have been a lot clearer. He gives extra points if you do problems he makes up on the board. He also let us redo a test for some points back. Also, I would have liked him to put in grades on BB which he didn't do. Your experience with him will depend on your work ethic.
He good in both algebra and trig. Explains concepts very well. Attendance was not really mandatory. Two tests in testing center, unlimited time there. Gives extra credit.
Highly recommend you do not take his class online, unless you are really really good at math and being able to teach yourself.
If you are a math genius then take this professor. if you are not a math genius and need someone to actually teach and break down math concepts and steps for solving problems then take someone else. He stands in front of the class and rambles on with a heavy accent and says repeatedly that this is not a lottery and you cannot guess answers. BAD!
Professor Georgesu's teaching style is not for everybody. He tells you what to expect out the course. Stay on top of your game and you'll be fine. Gives a lot of good extra credit. He teaches what you NEED to know in depth. He wants to see you work the theory! Do not take him if you struggled with previous math courses.
If you struggle with mathematics and cannot catch on to material quickly, I would advise you not to take this class. he is a very tough grader and expects you to explain in great detail of how you got your answer. (Showing your work is not enough) Be prepared to move through lessons swiftly. The math lab provides GREAT assistance.
He is a very tough grader. His teaching styles are not for everyone, he goes very fast and wont stop for anyone. He isn't easy to ask questions to, often makes students feel dumb for asking in class. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE.
He speeds through lectures so fast its hard to keep up. He expects students to know the material already and can be rude when you don't understand. He gives some extra credit but the two tests and comprehensive final make up most of your grade. I do not recommend anyone take his class unless math is your strong point!!!
The course itself is a lot of work, he doesn't make it any easily. He has a very smart/ sarcastic mouth. He expects for you to know the work, not very helpful in explaining at all. For lack of nicer things to say, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Top 10% Math teachers I ever met, quick. Fair when grades. Gives some extra credits for in class work. funny guy. Online is a third, the rest is tests and final in testing center. Got a B. I'll take him in Calc again if he available.
If you are not a fast learner do not take him. He expects you to know everything that is taught. He had about 2 pop quizzes. All test are in the testing center except the final. His work are usually 80 questions.
Really hard teacher if you not a fast learner and its your first semester dont take it
This Professor was not helpful when needed understand of problems and was late in returning quizzes and did not go over quizzes or give help as far what to expect on quizzes and test. Homework was full of over 80 problems and he did not provide in class discussion to help clarify homework or chapter. He would state just read chapter.
When taking tests he doesn't give very helpful study guides. They just tell you the chapters that the test is on but not the topics you need to focus on. On tests there are also very few questions so there's a higher chance that if you don't know everything on it you will most likely fail it.
He lectures at a pretty moderate pace & gives extra credit. The grade for his class is based on 5 hw (3% ea.), 3 tests (12% ea.), 1 final (30%), 1 group work (4%), 2 in-class quiz (3% ea.), & 3 online quiz (3% ea.). Main Issue: He expects you to show work on your test & quiz. Show work also means using words to explain your work or u get pts off.
Do not take this class if you are not ready to spend hours and hours at home trying to keep up with the classwork. He ONLY teaches by the textbook and he expects you know all the pre-calc material before class bc he doesn' bother reviewing them. Be aware of pop quizze. He will give you a quiz and THEN go over the material in class. Dont bother.
He's good at the stuff without a doubt, probably one of the best honestly. I was pretty good at math and picked it up quickly but I did notice ALOT of students were struggling. So his teaching style wasn't made for a lot of people. His tests are at the testing center so there's never a test in class, you gotta take it on your own time. Which sucks
He is straightforward. Posting a lot of announcements and lecture notes on Bb. Gives study guides before tests and final, which you'll take in testing center, so unlimited with time.
Be prepared to do non stop homework. He is bad at explaining things.
If you're bad or just average at math, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He only grades based on exams, and his homework are 90 questions long. Do not recommend.
I took Professor Georgescu for MAT2420 and the hardest part about him is the test-taking. I would recommend him with a fair warning that his MAT2420 class is not for just anybody. While taking the tests and quizzes, he requires to see more work than other math teachers would. Other than that, do the homework and STUDY HARD FOR THE TESTS.
I don't recommend this professor for students who are average at math. He goes by so fast and he thiks that all of his students are perfect at math. His method of teaching is worse, and he thinks that students are at his level at math. I was very good at math, but I hated math after taking his class. Be aware of the pop quizzes and heavy homeworks.
Just dont do it to yourself, read the other reviews PLEASE
I took Precalc. I with him, final is in Dec. I guess I'll get a B. Remote course on Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
Dropped this class while I could as it wouldn't show up on my transcript please dont waste ur time signing up endless amounts of homework, about 80 questions each due biweek, and the quiz is 10 questions long ,that doesnt even make sense 6 examsBtw No lectures provided at all just a useless textbook, calc is already difficult dont this to urself
HORRIBLE HANDWRITING !!!! YOU CANT KEEP UP MOVES FAST AND HIS TESTS ARE REALLY HARD , HORRIBLE TEACHER DOESNT COMPREHEND SITUATIONS AND YOU CANT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING HE WRITES
Online quizzes and homework, final in testing center. Good class climate, jokes alot.
He is not a bad nice person at all. But this is by far, the worst math professor I’ve taken at PGCC. He merely skims over the book examples and never goes into detail. This has been hell. It almost made sense to not even show up to class cause he wants you to read all the concepts and teach yourself at home anyway. DO NOT do it to yourself!
Has a quiz every other class. Doesn’t teach, wants you to read the math book. Uses mathxl so prepare for that…
Ive never felt so defeated while taking a class. I take good notes and had never missed a class. Yet I was still failing. Why? Because this professor explains things in a way you cant understand and doesnt like to answer too many questions. I spent most of my time trying to teach myself. 85 homework questions about things he didnt go over.
This is not an easy class. If your math skills are weak, you will not pass. He doesn't explain things clearly. You basically learn while doing the homework. There are weekly quizzes. Homework consists of 75-85 questions every two weeks.
I just enrolled in MAT1350. Passed 0104 with him last spring.
Two tests and a final exam. Homework is online, generous timeframe.
This is not good teacher AT ALL!! He doesn't explain well. If you don't understand, asking questions will not get you any closer to an explanation. He just rushes through the material with no regards about you actually retaining the material. I know i'm going to have to repeat the class and it never makes me feel more defeated.
Clear assignments that prepare you for upcoming tests. Great Study Guides that give suggestions of practice exercises from the textbook that cover all sections covered in the 15-question tests. Timely reminders of upcoming tests and assignment deadlines.
Took 1350 and 2410 with him. Lectures are ok but could be better; sometimes he likes to randomly throw cheese jokes during class. He assigns tons of homework (50+ questions due every two weeks) but his study guide prepares you for the tests. Pop quizzes (given before class) were unfairly timed. He encouraged class participation. Gives extra credit.
It's not that he's a mean professor per say he just isn't very helpful. I find it difficult to understand the material with how he presents it so I've resorted to studying online with another professor. He writes abbreviations for terms or formulas without letting us know what he's talking about, and in general has poor handwriting skills.
Just study on your own. He's nice but he skips a lot and he makes difficult things seem easy until it's too late. He gives very unspecific study guides, so like I said , study a lot or you will fail.
Cumulative Final worth 34%. Quizzes online but tests and final in person. Easy to slip behind. Provides some good notes but mainly learn by yourself from the text and videos. Only issue: tests were harder than notes. Also chapters covered on quizzes were inconsistent with pacing. Some were behind while others were on ones covered that week.
DO NOT take this mans classes if you aren't prepared to do most of the learning on your own. He doesn't spend that much time on topics and somewhat limits the amount of questions he can be asked. Topics on homework questions may not be talked about until the day its due. Along with that his hand writing is illegible majority of the time. Good Luck!
Beware of harsh grading
Very harsh grader, will have you work on software more of the time but your grade on the software that you do 100% o your work on will not be the grade that you will have. does not respond back in timely manner, give you study guides with 30 questions to do two days before the
The worst professor/teacher/educator in my entire life. -No extra credit/redos on assignments. -70%+ of grade is on quizzes and test. -Five 80+ QUESTION HW Assignments(does nothing to grade) -Doesn't respond to emails on time -GRADES HARSHLY DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS FOR ANY REASON. YOU ARE BOUND TO FAIL, especially if you already struggle with math.
I took the class hoping to strengthen my precalculus skills but it was truly no help. Despite paying attention in class, I struggled in this class. Your final grade WILL depend on tests. Homework is incredibly time consuming and quizzes are graded off your average score. For the sake of your mental health, do not take this class!
Took MAT 1350 with him. I'm gonna have him for 1360 too. Very good explanations, makes math seem easier. Fair grading. Two tests and a final, all online with cameras ON.
He was rude and angry from the beginning. Got mad that no one started the hw during the first week of class. For a project, he gave no clear instructions OR rubric--no one knew exactly what he wanted. When presenting said project, he asked questions about a test we took that had no relation to the project + took off points for not answering (20%).
He doesn't allow the m
This is the first W I have ever had. I really was trying but this professor's policies and teaching style are ridiculous. He would js end the mtng if you had a q at the end of class, and his tests were just so stressful. He also wants handwritten solutions and makes you write a 250+ test agreement by hand. Handwritten solutions r part of test grade
HORRIBLE experience. Save yourself and your sanity and stay FAR AWAY from this guy. I dropped because it was just too much, and his expectations were WILD. His class structure was terrible, and he was very unreceptive to questions.
Do not take this Professor if you want to get your Credit and Graduate! This Professor is so petty, and his finals are hard. In order to pass his finals you'd have to write and answer 16 math problems on paper and type the answer on the computer while being monitored on Zoom with your camera on. If you score high, he'll test you in a 1-on-1 Zoom.
