Learning about art is pretty cool. seeing how humans developed through art is pretty tight. Agahari is cool, she is really funny and seems like she likes what she does. She is the type of teacher that is always there to help.

She's a pretty good teacher, funny too. She gives really good study guides for the tests, it helps a lot. She also does a museum trip. The hardest thing is the project at the end of the semester, which really isn't that bad.
nice person, always wanting to help, also always open for criticism. she graded our first test hard, but our students directly complained to her. she wasn't even mad one bit, she wanted to knw how she could improve. she is a good prof. but be somewhat familar with art to take this class. tests are now alot easier & u get to use study guides also
this was a fun class, and it was all the more enjoyable with mrs. agahari's teaching. she's very helpful and respectful, and fun to talk to. the class is not difficult but some effort is required.
I went into this class expecting to be bored out of my mind, but it turned out to be a very interesting class, and rae is a great teacher. She's very funny and she manages to make art history powerpoints enjoyable. It's all lecture, and I recommend taking casual notes. There are a few papers and tests. Not a hard class but it does take effort!
this was an interesting class with an excellent teacher. you will learn a lot and, if you have a sense of humor, be in tears periodically. she should have her own one hour special on comedy central.
This class was a challenge but nothing a typical student couldnt handel. i learned so much from her. and i walked away with a hunger for more. great teacher!
Very nice teacher, the class is not difficult but it's not a cake walk! She gives you study guides, and you can e-mail her your essay for the test and tell you if it works or not! Great Class!
She is an amazing teacher. Her class is very interesting. She won't make you go crazy. She will HELP you with anything. She gives study note a week before the test and plus a cheat sheet. but i wouldnt say that it is an easy class. but you will learn a lot from this class.
Absolutely phenomenal! Next to John Vento she is by far the most interesting and knowledgeable teacher i have ever had the pleasure to be taught by. I had no idea i even enjoyed art. Now i can not get enough of it. Is the class hard? Yes. But only if you cant read. If you study what she tells you, it is impossible to fail.
Great art history teacher. She creates awesome Power Point presentations that are easy to take note of. Tests are fair and easy as long as you PAY ATTENTION. Make sure you don't copy terms from the glossary in your text book when you have to write papers or tests - you'll regret it. Museum field trip rocked! Overall great teacher. Take her!
Well prepared, prsentations were tailored to each class specifically. Rae was not afraid to admitt fault, or place it. Very fair, and very entertaining.
Awesome teacher. Agahari makes the class enjoyable with her great powerpoints, humor, and subject matter. Don't take this class if you don't want to work.
She is the best professor ever. She truly inspires the students in the subject. Being inher classroom is like entering the Art History World, her teaching skills are out of this world. She is the best teacher ever. I got an A in this class, you do alot of work, but if you study and take this class seriously you will do good.
The only thing is when I talked to other students about this class, she didn't explain a lot of important historical info. and I feel I missed out. For example: transubstanciation, that was never covered in my class, along with other things. So I thought it was a good class but I wouldn't recommend her if you want to learn a lot.
I TOOK 4 ART HISTORY CLASSES BEFORE,GOT A'S AND LEARNED A LOT BY READING, PAYIN ATTENTION TO CLASS. WITH HER, I READ THE BOOK, PUT ATTENTION, DID MY BEST AND GOT A C, EVEN THOUGH I LOVE ART HISTORY. BY NOW, I FORGOT WHAT I "LEARNED" IN THIS CLASS(DATES,AND VERY SPECIFIC THINGS)AND I STILL REMEMBER THE ESSENTIALS OF EVERY ART MOVN'T, ARTISTS, ETC...
SHE IS A GOOD TEACHER,BUT SHE IS UNFAIR FOR GRADE,SHE REDUCE GRADE FOR ENGLISH WRITTING,IF IT'S ENGLISH CLASS THAT'S OK, BUT,..... YOU SAY?
OMG!!! dont take her class! worst teacher ever!
I took Agahari's art 102 and art 103 together during the 2007 fall semester. She is an AWESOME professor. She lets you contact her through email and lectures are fun. The museum trips were great.
I had Rae for Art History 101 in the Spring of '08 and loved this class. I learned a lot from her lectures! This is not an easy class, you work for your grade but it is well earned. As long as you can attend class and study a bit on the side, you'll be fine.
She is one of the best teachers i've had. she keeps your attention during the whole class and grades fairly. the information in her tests is always covered in her lectures, so take notes.
Good teacher, very helpful, need to attend class to understand tests, get to use notes on tests!
very exciting teacher makes boring material fun and easy to learn
booooooooooooooooomb teacher. the semester is not over but this has been my most favorite class ever!! not an easy A, but this is a fun class. She is sooo hilarious! Just make sure to do your work, study, and take lots of notes! you get to use them on the test!
Loved this class! She tells you exactly what she expects from you. Hardworking class but enjoyable and interesting. She is an INCREDIBLE teacher and I hope to have her again. She loves to see her students do well so don't give up on her even though she seems tough. RAE ROCKS! If she picks on you, she likes you too. :D
Awesome!!! She is hilarious, but don't get on her bad side or you will regret it. not an easy A, but she tells you exactly what to study. very willing to help you. never touch your cell phone in class!
We just had our first test, I recieved a C but I blame only myself. The study guide was exstremely helpful, as were the page of notes. Frome what ive read on here, and my own exsperiances in class it all comes down to how much you studied. PLEASE STUDY , THIS CLASS IF FAR FRM IMPOSSIABLE TO PASS! Trust me I know...
She was Hilarious! Just be a good student and she will LOVE you! It is not easy to pass though. It actually takes WORK to pass this class, but she is very helpful and gives you the study guides. She is serious about BEING ON TIME!!! AND NO CELL PHONES! she will kick you OUT! but really, she is so fun to listen to and learn from! fun fun funny
Rae its an excellent teacher, she's very funny! you will enjoy every single lecture. Don't let this fool you! the class its not easy, it requires you to work hard and give your best; if you need help, just ask her, she's a great teacher, and I will definitely take her again!
This class SUCKS! Don't take it, you'll regret it. Rae needs some ritalin and lessons in social grace.
Rae is an amazing teacher. She scared me the first day to where I wanted to drop the class, but I stuck it out and Im glad I did. She does not put up with laziness so make sure you participate, she doesn't care if you get it wrong as long as you try. She knows her material really well and I learned so much from her.
do not take!!!!!
She is a great teacher. The first day i was going to drop but stuck it out and passed.
Oh boy! Now let me tell you, she can be VERY intimidating in the beginning but stick it out! She is an amazing teacher and you will learn a lot. Not to mention, her class is very interesting and you get to go to a museum near the end of the semester. Some may think the tests are hard but you get a cheat sheet which makes them pretty easy. Take her!
Pretty great teacher. Just follow directions and all will be cool between you and the teacher.Do not use a cellphones or other electric things. She will catch you. Sometimes stutters, but the museum trip is great and interesting.
she's pretty cool! i'm not an art person and i enjoyed it. for honors you have to do a presentation and thats about it. her lectures are interesting but YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION. she likes to randomly pick on people to answer simple questions. tests are fairly east if you can memorize information easy!she is extremely helpful if you ask for help!
Chinese slant on teaching. Withdrew. Unfair testing. She grades wrong on correct answers. Unreasonable and can be scary. Yelled at people alot. Pretty blunt with her criticism. Doesn't care about feelings too much. Her face turns red when she yells sometimes. Can be a bit funny at moments though. Can rob your grade at will cause she gets away with
This class was very hard. There is alot of work. She grades pretty hard on her tests. Questions you think your gonna get right, you dont. If you miss a class you miss like a months work. I wish somebody would of told me not to take this class.
Awesome teacher!! You have to study a lot for the test, but it's not impossible to get an A. Yes, she likes to yell, but it keeps things interesting! She answers any question you ask her, and offers help outside of class if you need it. Was bored of art before this class. Love her :)
This teacher is a horrible teacher! She is very rude to her students, yells at you if you answer a question wrong which makes it discouraging to participate. Very unfair with grading. You misspell a persons name on a test she will take 4 out of 5 points away. Totally favors her art major students over all others. Will not help you! DO NOT TAKE HER!
I took her for ART101 & ART102 and absolutely enjoyed the class. She's a bit loud at times but don't worry, she's just passionate;) Her lectures are very straightforward and easy to understand. The most challenging part in this class are the tests. She'll give you a study guide before each test so make sure to study them, and you'll do just fine.
You all are a bunch of weenies! It is college, shut up, do the work, and show up on time! That is all you need to get a descent grade. It is really hard to get an A. To get an A, you need to study and know your art backwards and forwards. I love Rae and wish I could take her Art 104 class!
Rae is an awesome teacher. She has a funny sense of humor. She makes art history very enjoyable and interesting. I took her for 101 and 104. Art 101 is a lot more memorization and studying and 104 is a lot more explanation and I thought was more exciting. She's a great teacher. Take good notes, listen to her, and put a lot of thought into the art.
First day of class she seems really intimidating, but stick it out! Awesome teacher and her lectures are really interesting. She's loud and sarcastic, but that's what makes her class so fun. Sense of humor is great and this woman really knows her stuff! She gives study guides before her exams, which helps a lot! My favorite professor at AVC so far
Loud, intimidating, but it turned out to be a really interesting class. She knows her stuff and though she's pretty strict, her lectures are truly never boring. I had trouble in her class, and I attended all her lectures and took copious notes. Don't slack off, stay on top. You'll have to work for your grade, but it's worth it.
Rae is by far the hardest teacher I have had so far at AVC. She is strict, but a good teacher if you don't tick her off. Her lectures are enjoyable and entertaining (she's hilarious). However, I couldn't manage to get higher than a C+ on any of the tests or papers she assigned, so beware! Rae's classes will require EXCESSIVE studying to do well.
Her class is DIFFICULT, and she is quite animated. You must STUDY and READ questions on quiz because she tries to "trick" you on exams. Study and you might make a "b".
She is perhaps the funniest and most(secretly)caring teacher I have ever had. Fill in the study guides, attend classes, and you'll find the course quite doable. She requires a little more work than other teachers, but I found her to be great for transitioning into Berkeley classes (high expectations) but with more realistic goals for students
Stay away from this professor! This is a hard class! If you like good grades take someone else.
Best Art History teacher ever! If you're willing to come to class, and do the work, then you'll do great and learn tons. Rae is one of the best teachers at AVC hands down. Don't take if you're lazy or disrespectful because she will not tolerate it.
The greatest professor you could possibly have for art history, especially if the subject does not interest you in the least. I kept the class strictly because of this lady. She is demanding, but tells you exactly what she expects. Doesn't take ANY B.S. Just do as she asks and you will pass, not to mention you might actually learn a thing or two.
By far the coolest professor I've ever had. She's as good as they come, so if you need to take an art class..her class is the one to take! She always keeps things interesting, she's hilarious and her lectures are so helpful. It really sticks! This woman knows her stuff!
She was awful. She didn't provide any help at all, when I asked for help she asked me if it was my first semester. When I told her yes she laughed in my face and told me that her class was no a first semester class, and that I just wasted my money and time seeing how it was to late to drop the class. I would not recommend her to anyone! Very hard
I loved her class. I was intimidated by her at first but, she is so loud and animated that it made the class fun to be in. I actually learned a lot in her class. Key is studying and attend lectures. You get out what you put in.
Excellent teacher. Really Cares for students success in her class. She can be tough & intimidating at first, but stick it out. Her lectures are interesting and she's really funny. Keeps the whole class involved. If you attend class, pay attention & follow her study guides, you won't have any problem passing her class.
So is great in class very funny and energetic don't take her if you have a lot of classes already cause she wants your to really go deep in thought and it can become your busy class also she is a very tough grader that she only thing i don't like about her and she doesn't give extra credit. but overall i have to say she is a challenge but good.
She is a great teacher, I really enjoyed taking her class. I am going to take more of her classes to.
Great class, funny teacher, but if you're taking her for an easy grade just drop it now. If you pay attention and actually do the work you will pass, just do not take this class or others lightly.
Such a hard class. I'm a B student & I would study for hours upon hours for the tests & always got between a 68-71. Hw is easy but the tests are very very hard. She is mean at first but is actually very funny & nice. I would not suggest this class, find a different teacher trust me.
Rae is awesome! One of the best teachers at AVC! She has been so helpful with everything. I am sad to say I have taken all the courses she teaches. I will never forget her and her awesomeness!
This is NOT an easy class. As a teacher, Rae is lively and animated and lectures well. It's important to take notes on what she says and attend class. If you miss a day, you miss a lot. You NEED to study for tests and quizzes. She may ask abstract questions no one really remembers. It is possible to get an A, but difficult. Just work hard :)
I took Rae's class last fall. I loved going to class and the time in class would pass very quickly because she keeps it interesting and keeps everyone involved. Make sure you read the material before going to lecture. She can tell who's reading and who's not-and she expects you to read to participate in lecture.I would recommend her to anyone.
Agahari is very helpful when it comes to class. Everything discussed in class is on the test (Also, her study guides are basically the test and she allows a cheat sheet). She makes things interesting and has a sense of humor. WARNING: Work load is insane...well for an art class I think.
Definitely not an easy class. Keeps it very interesting though! Gives a study guide 1 week before test, lets you use a cheat sheet as well. Just follow along in class and don't fall asleep/have your phone out! She will definitely kick you out.
DO NOT TAKE WITH HER! The lectures and test are not hard, but she nitpicks your test apart. On written parts of test You cannot use her word from the lecture or the words from the book and when you use your own words she say she doesn't understand what you mean. Her grading is unclear she doesn't even know what she means by it when you ask her!
I really loved Rae. She is hilarious and every class is entertaining but she is hard grader. The test aren't that hard but in order to get an A everything has to be PERFECT! You have to read the book and show up to every class or you'll miss a lot of information. But overall fun class and great instructor.
She is AMAZING! Do not take this class if you are lazy, because she will point this out. Her lectures are so funny and interesting and she will get you involved(and usually I hate that). There a study guides for every test and she explains everything exactly how she wants it so if you don't follow that then expect a bad reaction, she likes to yell!
If you want to learn, take her. She makes art history funny and interesting. She's tough but you learn something. I would recommend her. Her class isn't the easiest but if you pay attention and study you'll be fine.
Rae is cool BUT HER CLASS IS SO HARD!!! Not for slackers i assure you. I had to drop her class. The workload is pretty crazy. I think Rae is confused with what class she is teaching . It's ART class not english class. She is a HARD grader and if you don't know how to write, do yourself a favor and just drop. STAY AWAY FROM RAE!!!
She was extremely rude and unnecessarily intimidating. She wants herself to have a bigger impact than the material. #byefelicia
She can be intimidating at first, her class is definitely not an easy A. But she's passionate about the subject and tries to make it interesting to everyone. I've taken the things I've learned in this class and have applied them to other college classes, and just life in general.
Rae is a difficult but fair professor. Do the work, study and you'll get the grade. She's clear on her instructions. This is college people. If you want to better yourself as a student, she's a great professor. She's blunt which can come off as rude, but she's there to support each and every student both with their academics and personal issues.
Rae is difficult but an AMAZING teacher. I wish all teachers taught like her. She keeps it interesting, she makes you learn AND IT STICKS. Stay focus, read, study, AND DO YOUR WORK and you'll get a good grade. She is an amazing teacher and her classes are amazing. I recommend 100%. Just stop being lazy, people.
Rae is a fantastic professor. At first, I was extremely intimidated by her, but after the first few weeks I got used to her strong personality. If you are expecting to take an easy class where you pretty much need a pulse to pass, then this is not the professor for you. She has high expectations for her students, which is rare at AVC.
This class is definitely not easy, but the professor is very spontaneous and fun! She is loud and her humor is delightful, but her feedback on your work is what will benefit you greatly as a writer. This class is not for the lazy, but anyone who is willing to do the work will do well. I definitely recommend her to anyone who asks.
She is the best teacher I have had this semester she's tough but she is a keeper. I loved the museum trip!!!
I took Rae for Art 101, Art 102 and Art 103. She is intimidating and tough, BUT she makes the class fun and interesting. You learn the material and as long as you show up for class the material isn't hard. Take good notes (she gives you her powerpoints, you fill in the blanks). Study and you will do fine. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE IN HER CLASS.
Completely unnecessarily hard assignments. Tries to be funny, but is actually just offensive. I didn't find her lectures interesting and am confused as to why she is liked. Hard classes are worth it when you learn and excess work is relevant, none of this true here. Gives work that is purposefully difficult and prides self on being "tough" (rude)
Agahari is a rough and fun teacher who definitely makes you work for the A. Modern Art so far is my favorite college class because of her passion for the subject and her teaching abilities. Agahari is a great teacher and, as a result, you have to work but you will learn.
Honestly shes a tough teacher, she makes you work for an A. But it's not that hard just come to class prepared, pay attention and do what her assignment is asking for in your own words and you'll be fine. Also participate in class cause she will call on you. As long as you keep up with her powerpoints and the HW you'll have all you need for exams
She speaks loudly & it can seem hostile at times but she is really just serious. You MUST read before class & be ready for harshly delivered critiques -- if you don't respond emotionally to the feedback but just do it, you will get better. It is a tougher class because she is a very black & white grader but it doable if you apply yourself.
Very loud, almost too load to focus. She can be offensive. I don't recommend sitting in the front row because she likes to slam stuff right in front of your face, not considering that she might accidently hit you like she did to me on the first day. The assignments aren't as hard as she makes them seem. Just stay prepared.
Not an easy A which makes it that much more rewarding. Really cool teacher.
Wonderful class. She truly wants her students to succeed. Learned a lot and enjoyed her class very much. Not hard at all.
If your lazy stay away. It's not rocket science, you just have to do your work and study. she defiantly makes you work for your A and she knows when your not paying attention or learning. She's loud and mean to those who don't care, but if you show your dedicated you'll be fine. One of the best classes I've ever taken as a college student!
Difficult yet worth it. Made me find a new sense of respect for art too. She is very understanding towards students whom show effort and dedication. She is also one of those rare professors who is always willing to help and won't coddle anyone. Study and go to her office hours, if you do that, you'll be fine. Agahari is one of the best AVC prof's.
Professor Agahari is a tough but fair instructor. I learned so much about art history in her class. She is very knowledgeable and is willing to help you if you need it.
Tests are really tough as they are mostly responses. She docs points for a word she doesnt agree with even if its technically right. You need to study, no homework. Flash cards will get you an A. Very scrict but also funny when rules are followed. She calls on people randomly but its okay if you dont know it. Try anyways! You will do good. Goodluck
I love her. She's one of the funnest professors I've ever had; however, its a tough class for most people. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not the class. If you're looking for a class to slack off in, this is not the class.
Demands respect. If you show that you care by working hard, she will treat you with respect as well. Slack off, she will rip you apart. Great teacher, leads excellent discussion. Passionate about the subject. Definitely one of the best at AVC! Lots of work, high standards for A's, but somehow worth it. She made me love modern art! Frank Stella ftw
Rae is easily one of the best Teachers I've ever had. EVER. She has a real passion for Art History and makes it enjoyable and fun to learn. I've taken her Art 102/103 classes and loved all of it. She won't hold your hand through the class, and you have to really work for it, but its very rewarding. I would take any course that she teaches.
Rae Agahari is one of my favorite teachers! If you get offended or butthurt easily do not take her! Shes funny, likes to joke around but is straight up. She wants you to care about the class and work for it. So if you're not willing to put in work then take another teacher! She likes to call on people so be prepared to participate. Great teacher!
Prof. Agahari is an awesome teacher. The class is hard & is a tough grader. She makes the material interesting & draws you into the history of art works. I learned a lot in her class. She will help you with whatever you are having problems with. I'd take her again. One of the best profs I've had. She's funny which keeps lecture interesting.
Professor Agahari is an amazing prof. she is not an easy A. She makes you work for your grade but is very helpful and gives great feedback. Make sure to take good notes for test, if you are having a hard time talk to her about it. She is overall an outstanding art history prof. and she is loud and funny.
Amazing teacher. She puts art history in a context that makes it accessible and interesting for everyone. It's a hard subject there's a lot of memorization, writing and critical thinking. But she is VERY clear about what to study and what she wants out of homework. Answer everything accurately and succinctly. She's the best teacher I've ever had.
Rae is seriously one of the best Professors at AVC, she makes the class rewarding and fun. I would take her every semester if I was able to. She really loves art, and she instills that in all her students. It's been my favorite courses at AVC, I highly recommend taking her.
This class was extremely interesting and the way Rae teaches to you makes it even more interesting. The class was a little difficult but overall you can pass if you stay on top of your work. I highly recommend you take Rae for not just this class but any other class she may teach.
By FAR my favorite professor at AVC. I took two of her classes in the same semester & she warned me it would be hard but I did it anyway, I ended up loving the class & her teaching style. She's comical in her lectures & it makes the classes enjoyable. Pay attention & take notes! I ended up switching my major to Art Hist & taking all her classes.
Study read over the chapters, study in groups, ask questions, meet her during office hours to go over notes for test and any other questions you may have. Flashcards are a must! and she is overall an awesome teacher very loud and funny and will tell you how it is and she loves art history her teaching style is fun and art museum is a lot of fun!
I highly recommend you pick another teacher. She is honestly ridiculous with want she expects from you.
This teacher is by far the worst teacher I have ever taken. Stay away if you want to learn anything
Rae is one of the most amazing teachers I've ever had. She is a very tough grader, but she sees the effort you put in and if you study, you'll pass. I ended up with a C in the class, but that's my fault. I learned so much from her. And, she's HILARIOUS.
Rae Agahari is one of the best professors Ive ever had, and she has definitely influenced me to change my major to art history. She has so much passion for what she talks about, so much interest and love for the subject of art history, and she really knows how to help you learn while having fun and retaining everything and enjoying it too.
Rae is freaking great and usually the ones who say otherwise just don't want to do the work and put in the effort to memorize what needs to be, she has a fun way of imprinting such cool facts in your head through lectures, and she KNOWS her stuff!! She truly wants her students to succeed in life and likes to get to know her class.
I had Rae Agahari for Art 101, she is lecture heavy and it is not recommended to miss a day because will fall behind drastically. She is an amazing instructor because what she teaches does show up in the test.
I had Rae for 101, 102, 103, and 104. I didnt think for a second to try a different professor because Rae actually teaches AND is entertaining. I dont recall getting tired in her class either because I was so engaged with the lectures. Studying is a MUST but mostly because you need to memorize stuff. Show up and write down as much as you can.
This is an AMAZING Professor. Her lectures come ALIVE! not hard to be engaged and find real interest in the course material! She's clear and delivers direct answers to questions there is no round about kind of sort of answers she gives it to you straight. I've taken her twice!
walked in on the first day to yelling and screaming
Very loud
I had rae for 102 106 and will being doin 103 with her as well. Take her nowwwww. But dont be lazy. Be prepared to learn. Dont skip class. You will be fine. Not an easy A. You will be graded accordingly
One of my favorite teachers ever. She yells and is abrasive, but its outta love and passion. She wants to help you pass and is a very caring professor. Her tests are difficult but she is available to help and answer questions. I learned so much and will really miss her class. Cant wait to take the next course.
Far and away THE best art professor at AVC. She may be intimidating to some, but once you get used to how loud she is, she's an awesome professor. Makes it very clear what needs to be studied and when, and exams test your memorization and ability to identify hallmarks of different styles of art. A tough grader, but do your best and you'll be fine.
At first I thought it was going to be a hard class, but then as the days passed I realized how simple and easy her class is. If youre a slacker, this class aint for you, but if youre at least a little passionate, Rae will do her best to prepare you for the test/quizzes. Loved her and I wish I could take all her art classes
Good, makes sure to get all of the material covered. Style of teaching is loud, keeps you focused and attentive. Loved art history, but due to personality I will never take another one of her classes. Really tough, answers have to be her words or wrong. Respects you until you question her. Says she will help but is not what I recieved when needed.
I strongly advise against taking this teacher. While she is an objectively nice person, she lacks certain social graces, like not yelling into an unsuspecting students ear every so often. When we were forced online, her inflexibility got worse. Little to no mercy on those with issues at home, no extended dates, increased workload. I give a high F.
This professor rarely if ever works with the students. Its like she sees herself like a general, even now online, she yells at her students. Shes not a very good teacher in this regard. If you can, avoid at all costs. If you're unlucky enough to have to rely on school services for help she will have no mercy on you now that those are suspended.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER Instruction moved online bc. covid-19. No help and not willing to help with more explanation. There is no access to additional resources on campus so this class was 10x harder than it needed to be. PLEASE save yourself the trouble and stress and take someone who is reasonable and willing to help when you ask, not ignore you
PLEASE READ ALL COMMENTS AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE REACTS!!! THIS IS A HORRIBLE PROFESSOR AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE ARE WHAT PEOPLE LIKE TO CALL "TEACHERS FAVORITE PET". Plays favorites and is unwilling to help. She never keeps up with the grades and although her lectures are filled with detailed info. she doesnt explan well but expects (A+++)
Rae's class taught me so much, I seriously cannot recommend her enough. Don't be intimidated by people saying she's too tough on her students, because that isn't true. She's a strict grader, but if you follow her instructions and STUDY you'll be just fine. Her lectures are amazing and impossible to sleep through, so you'll actually learn from them.
As long as you do what you're told and always participate, you're good to go. But she unnecessarily requires things her own way aka she extra. There is no way you can cheat in this class, just study. Do not skip class or you won't have a clue on what the next lecture is about. Quizzes, tests, midterm and final are based on lectures and reading.
She makes things harder than they need to be. Constantly yelling. A test every time you meet. You need to meet with her before you can take any test. There is no way you can guess what she is thinking with fill in the blank quizzes. She is also rude when you try to meet with her or send in your notes to prepare for the test. Painful to be in class.
I love her. Hilarious, loud and keeps my attention. Tough teacher: very particular about how things are written. Preview Quiz is a MUST or you're not allowed to attend the next class. If you're a slacker or skip a lot BEWARE she will yell at you or call you out in front of the class, but she is always yelling even just to lecture. haha. Very caring
She yelled at a girl on the first day and she never came back, that pretty much sums up the class. Hard grader, gives you assignments that have alot of questions that shouldnt be as tricky as they are. Yells at students to shut up or insults them, its really weird. Saddly shes the only professor that taught the class i needed, best of luck.. :/
Her class is hard not for the students who want to be lazy and have an easy ride. She is a great professor and VERY knowledgeable. Would and have taken her class again. Dont go in this class thinking its a high school class be ready to work for your grade.
I like this class would take another one.
Very interesting class. I learned a lot that I would have never known without this class. Hard, yes but work for it its worth it!
One of my favorite professors! Make sure you pay attention to all instructions. Shes super clear on what she wants and if you do it youll do well. Her lectures are interesting and very informative and Ive learned a lot in her classes. If you dont do your work right you can expect to be called out on it. Ive taken all her classes and loved them
I've taken Art 101H,102, 103H, and 104 with her and have enjoyed every class! She is a tough grader and is loud, but this is only to ensure that her students are actively trying to learn the material. I grew immensely as a writer from getting feedback during office hours-getting assignments critiqued ahead of time is key to doing well! Hard workA
I took her for 102, 103, 106. She's a great teacher who makes you work for your grade and will be willing to give you feedback. She's very strict and loud but she's like that so she can scare off any slackers and wants to ensure you understand the material. Study for the exams, use flashcards, do the preview exams, and read the assigned chapters.
Shes an incredibly rude professor. Constantly loud and yelling. She claims to want everyone to participate during lecture, but if you say more than she wants you to say, she yells and tries to humiliate you. Its a terrible way to encourage learning. Degrading and embarrassing students is exactly how you shut down the learning process.
You do have to do quizzes a lot. Participation is NEEDED in class and if you dont shell call on you . Shes VERY PARTICULAR its her way or the highway. She can be RUDE at times which is annoying. I honestly recommend another professor I REGRETTED not listening to the reviews in the first place.
Im taking her for spring online classes and honestly shes a great teacher. Dont be a slacker though because if you are then good luck. Dont take this class if you cant handle being put on the spot or called on. I like her lectures I always found them interesting. She doesnt make empty threats and if you lie just be prepared cuz she goes off
If you are a shy person I do not recommend this class and if its mandatory perhaps another professor, she will make you feel really dumb if you do not know the answer especially if she calls on you. It gets to the point where she gets so mad she removes you from the zoom. If you do not like participating dont take this class.
I regret taking her class . I certainly dont recommend anyone to take her class . Gets mad easily . Screams . And puts you on spot . It was really stressful and confusing at times . She doesnt make you feel comfortable in class.
This professor's one of the worst ones at AVC. She's rude, VERY LOUD. She humiliates students in front of the whole class and makes fun of them. Your voice will never be heard in class. She thinks she's always right. Believe me when I tell you to not take this horrible class. She makes the class harder than it should be. Lots of HW, papers, reading
Rude, insults you .... TRICKY on TESTS ... 15 page Exam you may have only a few questiopns on Test!
She's t non caring &self absorbed professor. She offers no feedback. She yells at her students. You never know your grade because she doesn't use Canvas grading system. She uses Proctor for tests, but I could never read the screen the way she had it set up & thus failed exams. She's rude, lazy, & I wonder how she still gets away with teaching.
Amazing teacher, lectures can be boring sometimes but she tries her hardest to make it entertaining. Attending class is mandatory. Easiest way to pass this class is by just showing up. Interacting in class is highly recommended. If you have question you should def ask away. Dont get overwhelmed if u start wit a good grade most likely you will fini
Rae is one of the most caring teachers Ive had. She gives specific detailed assignments, follow instructions and it will prepare you to become a better student. She taught me so much and you can tell she cares for her students and wants them to get a great education. Follow every step she gives and do all the work. Meet with her for feedback.
Before my 1st class, I was anxious because of her ratings. But the class was more engaging than expected. She can be blunt & intimidating, but most of the negativity is exaggerated. She is cheerful/funny too! Take notes, use her study guides, & be ready to participate. You'll actually focus & learn a lot because of the extra pressure to do well.
Professor Agahari is a great teacher who really cares about the subject she is teaching. Without her enthusiasm about the topic I probably would not have cared myself. She really made it clear how important art and In turn history is to our lives today. The class is not easy but understanding the intricacies of past people and artists shouldnt be.
Professor Agahari is very passionate about what she teaches. She makes the course content easy to understand and very interactive. She provides study guides for the exams which make them easy to study for and pass. Also, she even offered extra credit at the end of the semester. Best advice is to not slack and study! You will for sure pass :)
Rae is probably the favorite teacher Ive ever had. Shes definitely intimidating at first but she really cares about her students and is passionate about what she teaches. If you are a slacker youll struggle though. And even then its a really easy class if you show up and pay attention and do the homework. Cant wait to take more of her classes.
Professor Agahari is one of the best professor's I've had the pleasure to know. Her work is not difficult if you just put in the time and reading. More importantly taking notes as a lot of the information is given through the slides! She is so engaging and there is never a dull moment in class. She can be both sweet and sour haha.
Rae is aggressively caring in her own way that many can misinterpret. Lectures full of funny commentary and stories are the core of the class. She may call on you and expects you to try, never meant to embarrass you, just to push you a little further. Attendance is crucial, do the reading and follow the study guides she provides, she's great.
Rae is a great professor, her class is easy to pass if you do your work. She can be a bit intimidating to some because she lectures loudly but she is just passionate! She really wants her students to do their best, so listen, participate, and ask questions. She is very accessible outside of class and is always willing to give her students feedback.
Professor Agahari is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Even when you are put on the spot, it's never meant to embarrass you. She just wants to make sure you're learning the material. She really cares about the students and the subjects she teaches. If you're looking for a fun and rewarding class where you learn a lot take her classes.
Professor Agahari is an amazing teacher! She may seem a bit scary when she does her lectures but that's because she wants you to understand the material. As long as you're paying attention, writing down notes, and asking questions, you can definitely pass her class! I, personally, look forward in taking another class with her :)
Great, but tough professor. If you decide to take one of her classes, then take your schoolwork seriously. Pay attention during lectures, take notes, and ask questions.
Class is definitely lecture and note heavy. However, the lectures are very well taught. Super tough grader but just makes you work a tad bit harder. I actually learned a ton in a topic in which I had 0 interest but had to take for an elective.
Lectures are very interesting. Take good notes, pay attention, and prepare accordingly for quizzes and lectures then you should be fine She asks questions during class so be prepared. She also has no respect for our well-being. She gave us our final on mothers day just because she wasn't prepared even though she screams at us for not being prepared
Great professor!!! Her class is interesting and you learn so much about various time periods and different styles of architecture. Tests were fair and I would say your notes need to be good. She is hilarious as well. I got received my grade through my errors, the class and her work is amazing.
Professor Agahari is fairly strict, but it keeps the class going at a nice pace. Her lectures are easy to follow along, and she makes sure you know what to take notes on. She is SUPER knowledgable and makes it easy to learn all the different periods, art pieces, etc. Take her classes if you can!
She's an amazing professor, she cares so much and the class is nicely structured. her lectures make you pay attention and she keeps you interested. she is super knowledgeable and funny too. She can be loud but it is mainly to keep people paying attention. I would def retake her, her class really makes you learn so much without you realizing it!
very bold personality that grows on you, the course isn't difficult but you must engage and make sure you're taking notes and listening. lectures aren't boring they're usually fun but do not miss class or you'll be confused.
I absolutely do not recommend taking this class! She is not the professor you want to have if you're shy or nervous because she can be intense. Yells at people for NOT double-spacing their papers and leaves negative comments on tests and assignments. Very loud and can be rude to other students. Not someone you want to handle on a daily basis.
I took her class right before we went into lockdown so I experienced her both through zoom and in person. She is very passionate about and well versed but that's about it. She does yell a lot and you will get called on in class and doesn't make you feel the best about yourself if you don't know the answer or are struggling.
DO NOT TAKE AGAHARI!!! Unless you want to be severely overwhelmed and confused. Her lectures are mostly videos which is convenient but her grading is out of pocket. She is rude with her students and lacks good grading systems. HORRIBLEEE
This prof thinks she's the main character! She's very rude and very inaccessible. Ask a question then she'll respond with "did you read the yada yada yada?" like ofc I read it, but I'm asking for clarification since your instruction is not very clear madam. If you're planning to have her, NO, save yourself from exhaustion and get another professor.
WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD IN MY 18 YEARS OF SCHOOL, DON'T TAKE HER CLASS. She has a very short temper and start yelling if someone get the answer wrong, she is also extremely RUDE and makes the smallest problem a bigger problem. Also uses a lot of profanity for a professor. If your planning on taking her class DON'T TAKE IT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HORRIBLE!! She is very rude! Prepare to take quizzes every week!! Quizzes are super confusing she even said the book neglected to answer correctly I was so baffled! Awesome way to experience my first semester of college.
I took this class online and she would open exams on a day off from school and her exams are proctored. Her quizzes are fully based on lecture or the book and would be able too use notes but sometimes you can't find the answers in the book or lecture. She does answer emails fast but man she assigns like 15 videos and each are followed up by a quiz
If you are considering taking this professor DO NOT TAKE HER. Lack of communication, rude comments. Wants everything turned in on time but fails to grade on time. Finals given after last day of class. Exams on weekends. Recorded exams FYI. Hard to follow poor sound quality lecture videos. Literally used me as an ex. of what not to do on an exam. :c
Do not take this professor. She was rude and snappy. Extremely unclear in her quizzes. Not understanding to life and struggles. Assigns too many lectures that are hard to hear and long followed by quiz . Exams are proctored and extremely unclear and unethical to expect people to be able to memorize that much.
i adore rae! she is incredibly knowledgeable and her lectures are fun and kept me engaged. she is by far my favorite professor. she gives simple hw and her tests are inline at home and open note, but you still need to study to do good. shes fair with grading and wants her students to succeed beyond avc, so she can feel a little tough at times
This class was not worth the time for the credits. You will learn a lot, but there are so many lectures and tests. It is nearly impossible to guess the exact wording on the fill-in-the-blank answers on the tests because it's so incredibly specific. If you want to take ART101, take a different professor.
I have taken Rae for two classes now Art 101 and Art 102 both online and in person. She is not an easy going teacher, but in the best way possible. She pushes you to do well and will not hesitate to tell you if you are falling behind. There are a lot of quizzes but if you pay attention and take notes it will be very easy! 100% recommend her!
This professor is the worst one I have encounter there is no way anyone would pass this class I lose my sanity just by taking this class why is she still teaching the her attitude and behavior is awful what makes worse she is the only professor in this class you have take if you are majoring in in studio arts or any other majors how she's not fired
She is a stern but fair professor who brings art history in focus through a lens I would have otherwise have never seen or cared about.
She's an amazing professor. Her class is consistently entertaining, she's enthusiastic about the course material, and her feedback is incredibly helpful. Your experience is going to be determined by your attitude and participation. If you dont take it seriously, you will not have a good time. So be a good student and you'll have a great teacher.
I believed Art History would be boring but after taking Professor Rae's class I've found a liking for it. She cares that you do your absolute best and is very helpful with feedback. She's very blunt and strict but still a great professor. Quizzes and tests are open notes but study so time won't run out. I hope to take her again soon!
She's funny and good at explaining concepts during her lectures. However, she is strict with attendance and will yell at you if you're late to class.
You have to be very specific, feels impossible to get a A from her, nothing is very perfect and she lacks a lot of information about exams and quizzes
Rae's ART101 class is a real challenge. With weekly quizzes, specific wording on tests, and a strict attendance policy, it's easy to get overwhelmed. However, unstuckstudy can help prep for exams. Just be ready to engage with the course material to succeed.
Some say she is stern but, I really enjoyed her. The way her notes are taken are by a packet and her lectures are fun and enjoyable when she makes jokes. Honestly, you have to pay attention and cannot be absent much since attendance is a big deal, make sure you always have ll the notes because without them the quizzes are impossible.
Her lectures are interesting and fun! She's clearly passionate about art. I didn't like her exams, there's a lot of fill-in-the-blanks and trick questions, but you should do OK if you follow instructions. Have a positive attitude and try not to be late or miss because not all examinable material is in the textbook and she has an attendance policy.
Bruh, I thought she was cool but she is kind of mean and doesn't understand when their is personally things going on in your life at all... Tried to see the good in her but she would just pick on me cause retaining information was hard. Cool things to learn but too hard.
This professor was very informative and funny in her lectures, but when it came to quizzes/exams, no one was laughing. She's a very tough grader and is very particular about certain things. I did learn more about art because of her teaching style but it was difficult to manage. If you're planning to take her class, just remember to stay organized.
This professor is tough; she gives tests every week, and she has no problem being rude or mean to your face in front of everyone. She is not for everyone. Some people like her, but honestly, her personality can be way to much for some and can come off as being too much. She does teach you a lot, but honestly, not in the best ways.
This was the most difficult, mentally draining class I've ever taken. I don't recommend this class. I have struggled every week, she is nitpicky about art dates, spelling, and capitalization. I lost 6 points for not capitalizing the r in Industrial Revolution. She also changes due dates and takes half credit even after allowing grace periods.
Really fun and engaging in class(you'll know if you like her humor by day 1). As others have said, she can be nitpicky when it comes to spelling and does require attendance. However, I truly enjoyed myself in class and it made me actually want to study which I suggest doing for this class. Would take again :)
Don't take this class if you are looking for easy art credit. However, as someone who originally took this class for that reason, I ended up loving the class because of her good teaching ability. You will do well as long as you pay attention in class. If you are shy, be aware that she will engage students heavily, and that she is very exuberant.
She called the class stupid, she was degrading and extremely rude and unprofessional. I can't believe how many positive reviews this monster has. How are you going to tell me how I interpret art? I hated her so much. I hated her so much. The worse professor I ever took at AVC.
Notes are easy to take/easy to study. Tests are simple enough if you study at all. She's funny; lectures aren't boring. She's good about answering questions, and sends occasional emails to remind students about due dates. Shocked her rating's so low, but her personality might be too much for some. But you'll know immediately if that's the case.
A tough teacher and tough grader. She can come off a little rough, a little blunt. This class, OUT OF ALL MY CLASSES, prepared me for UC Irvine. This class taught me good study habits. You get what you put in. I read the text, reviewed my notes, studied 3hrs a day. If you're not going to study or read you won't do well. I love Rae, learned a lot.
10/10 recommend! The first time being in her class was an adjustment just because she really did value student understanding. She is funny and kind but make sure you are willing to put in good effort. Overall I have never take a better professor at AVC so I say do it and just pay attention and don't miss class!
She is crazy informative but also slightly terrifying. She designs her homework to make you think outside the box while also giving great information. She will not go easy on you, but if you're truly committed to her class, you'll be fine. She really values people humoring her and likes participation a TON. She's engaging and gives funny lectures.
She is passionate about teaching and interacts actively with her class, though she can be loud and dramatic. For those preferring a quieter atmosphere, her class may feel draining and tiring, especially with the homework and exams. Missing a class day is not advisable. I as well did not enjoy her class haha, as it was dreading for me to even go
Look only take this class if you actually like art history its a tough class if you don't care about the subject i took it as a theology major and enjoyed it a lot since its has history, Christianity, and art all the things i enjoyed. its not for everyone but if you want to learn then take this class. been a year and I still remember most things.
I personally loved her. She was very funny and very real. If you don't like her and think she's mean and you think she singles you out it LIKLEY means you are the problem, that is NOT GUARENTEED to be the reason. She may sound harsh and intimidating but I loved her. Your just need to do your work and be respectful there shouldn't be a problem.
