Professor Bernardi is one of a kind and he cares about his students. His class is HARD but reach out to him! He respects his students and wants what's best for them. This was his first-semester teaching, but he was solid. I didn't have a background in Physics so I struggled. But if you understand the concepts and application, you will do well.
Physics is a hard subject. Professor Bernardi tries to help his students out as much as possible bc he truly cares about them. If you reach out to him and show him youre trying, he will do everything he can to help you. This class is lecture heavy and doing the homeworks is very important bc those problems can show back up on the test.
This professor is really good. His tests are clear and the criteria for grading is simple. Tests are around 8 questions majority multiple choice and a few short answer. They are based off directly lecture questions and homework questions. This class is easy if you do all the homework problems and lecture questions. You also get a cheat sheet.
Dr. Bernardi speeds through very dense lectures reciting every equation on the board. He does not explain well. However, grading is generally straight forward. The recitation quizzes come directly from hw and tests come from hw and in class problems. He may not teach you, rather you will need to teach yourself but at least grading is predictable.
He only lectures on the most basic concept of each topic. Tests are straightforward for the most part. The tests also only had a few questions that are 10-15 points, which was frustrating. If you miss one question, you're already down to a 90.
Dr. Bernardi is a sweet man but is one of the worst lecturers I have ever had. he never answered our questions and overcomplicated things. Physics is already a confusing subject and he just never taught it well. it almost seemed like he expected everyone to already have a background in physics before you start the class. just not a great teacher
Lectures were not that easy to understand. Thinks that we already have a background in physics.
His lectures were not enjoyable and I did not feel very prepared for any of the exams, especially the final. I had to teach myself most of the time with the textbook. Avoid if you can.
Dr. Bernardi is a genuinely kind and caring professor. He wants you to understand the material and succeed. If you try hard and put the effort in, he will help you get a good grade. Lectures arent mandatory, but go to get the work to all the practice problems. If you reach out to him and the TAs, they will give you as much help as you need.
If you put in effort you should be able to pull out an A or B in this class. We have weekly quizzes and labs and on fridays there are opportunities to win back points which I 100% recommend. If you do the homework, the quizzes are easy. The tests questions all come from the lecture slides, the homework, and the free point fridays!!
I never felt like I was able to get much out of his lectures; you will absolutely have to teach yourself the entire course if you take him. He does scale the grades which was very nice, but I also felt his regular exams were significantly more difficult the collective final was, so there has to be better professors to take.
The professor is super nice and respected, but if you aren't good at physics this class will destroy you. Most kids fail, and he curved the final upwards of 25 points. Labs are super easy and TA's are nice. Groupme saved half the people in my class. If you don't like physics, good luck. If you do, this class will make you appreciate how hard it is.
I thought he was a very good professor who gave good insight into what you were going to be tested on as well as keeping lectures relevant. I also know he is very helpful outside of class and lab wasn't too bad. the only negative is the class has very few grades so you need to take everything seriously.
Dr. Bernardi is incredibly kind and genuinely is interested in physics. He allows you to make your own equation sheet for each test, which is really helpful. Before each test, he assigns a quiz with multiple attempts and no time limit, and the tests are similar to that, and he gives homework problems to study for the tests but aren't due for grades
Professor Bernardi is a nice guy. The class in general though, not so much. Physics was one of the hardest classes I have taken at Auburn and would not want to do it again. His lectures are hard to follow along with and he is difficult to understand at times but he tries his best.
Class attendance is optional (lab attendance mandatory), weekly quizzes in lab based on weekly homework, three exams and a common final. His lectures can get confusing but nothing impossible with the resources allowed to students + he lets you to make a one-sided "cheat sheet" paper for exams. If you put in the work, you will do well in his class.
Very good guy, he genuinely cares about his students doing good in his class. If you need help go to his office hours or the resource room. His TAs are also really helpful.
Bernardi is probably the best physics professor at AU. He let us have a cheat sheet for every test. Hes not the best lecturer but online videos help a lot. Hes caring and wants you to succeed. Grades come from labs, quizzes in lab, and tests. All of that is worth 75% of your grade, and the cumulative final is worth 25%. Work hardA, SlackB or C
Physics is a hard subject and one of the hardest classes at auburn. Professor bernardi takes this into consideration with his class and gives as much as help as possible. I wish more professors were like him.
He was literally the best. He helped tremendously. Go to his office and he was give you the answers straight up.
He is honestly a really helpful professor. He wants the best for his students, and gives them the resources to get there. This class will require a lot of time and studying, but him and the TAs are super helpful and provide resources to help.
He really cares about his students and wants them to do well. Going to class is not mandatory but helps a lot when it comes to exams. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the exam. If you work hard, go to class, and do the homework you will do well in the class.
Great professor. The course was difficult, but that is expected of any Physics course. He was very easy to talk to outside of class time if you were struggling and was always very fair when it came to grading. He is very understanding and truly wants all of his students to succeed as long as you are willing to put in the work.
Bernardi is the physics professor you want. He tries his hardest to help you understand. He is receptive to questions and requests for help during and outside of class. The content is difficult but he makes it easier. The lectures can be fast paced, but he is willing to talk with you outside of them. Fair grader, lots of partial credit
I thought he did a good job of trying to make sure we understood the concepts we needed. The only thing I would say would be that he talked a little fast in lecture so it was hard to follow sometimes.
I loved Professor Bernardi. He always encouraged us to stop him during his lectures to ask questions. All his PowerPoint are posted on canvas which is extremely helpful. The quizzes we take in the lab are based on the homework, so if you do the homework and go to class you will get a good grade.
Professor Bernardi is a great professor! The material is kind of hard, but that's just physics. He really tries his best to get everyone to understand the material. Make sure you get a good TA for lab because that will affect your grade and time spent in lab... Overall Bernardi is amazing and passionate about what he teaches!
He is a good professor that cares about helping student do well in the class. If you have to take PHYS 1500 take him.
Physics in general is going to be a tough class, but Bernardi does an okay job teaching it. DO THE HOMEWORK!!! They are the best at preparing you for the quizzes at least, and only slightly for the exams. The exams are tricky, he pulls questions at random from the homework, quizzes, and in-class problems that he works. Do your best :)
Hes a great professor so dont hesitate to ask him for help. Do your homework cuz its just like weekly quizzes. Dont get Pasquale as your TA and youre solid Dr. Bernardi is your best bet for this class.
You can teach yourself from YouTube, but in the event that you have questions, Dr. Bernardi is incredibly helpful. He will go out of his way to help you. There are also tons of opportunities to get extra help from the TAs. Practice the homework and you will get an A. Physics with Rafael is not as bad as physics with any other professor.
It is very doable to do well in this class. Although homework is not graded, most if not all questions on lab quizzes are from homework. The same holds true for exams, most if not all questions are pulled directly from homework and quizzes.
Dr. Bernardi is great, I wish I went to more office hours because he always replies quick and is willing to help. If I were to take the class again I would focus more on learning what is happening in the problems rather than memorizing things because he will give partial credit. The best option for physics because he wants you to succeed.
Pretty good professor, he made sure to make time to help.
Physics is hard to learn, however, I felt like Dr. Bernardi broke down the material as best as he could. The homework (not graded) and quizzes every week is helpful and essential for a good grade in this class. He is very easy to talk to and willing to help you whenever. You can tell he really cares for students and wants you to be able to learn.
Professor Bernardi is a great professor. He cares about his students! I had problems with my TA, and he helped me with the lab. I wish he didn't have physics at 8 am because it's hard to wake up and focus at 8 am. Overall, Physics is hard, so ask for help! Go to Office hours!! He has to go fast in lectures because there is a lot of stuff to learn.
His class is really awesome! There really isn't anything on the tests that weren't talked about in lecture. The reason why I believe many people say he's difficult is because they don't try to do any of the homework. It's not mandatory, but he literally pulls problems off the homework to use in the tests and it's the same formulas being used.
Professor Bernardi is amazing. He really wants his students to succeed in his class. physics is a hard class, but he breaks it down and makes it easier to understand. He gives optional homework, but the quiz questions and some of the exam questions are directly from the homework. So it is very beneficial to do it. Overall, i enjoyed this class!
Mr. Bernardi is amazing! Physics is very difficult and he really takes that into account. He is a kind professor and really wants his students to succeed. He offers ways to improve your grades. For exams, we allowed a sheet of paper to write whatever we need to help us on the exam- helps a ton.
Professor Bernardi was a great professor! I would highly recommend taking his class. He is accessible outside of class, and he does a great job preparing students for tests. The homework is optional, but it is helpful when preparing for quizzes/tests. Overall, physics can be difficult, but I felt like Professor Bernardi did a great job teaching it.
Dr. Bernardi is an amazing professor. Around half of our class right now has an A. The syllabus is arranged to where the tests are 25% and in-class activities are 25%. His lectures can be confusing at times but if you understand all the homework problems that he assigns, you should get an A. He is very understanding and wants his class to succeed
Bernardi is a great professor who loves teaching and helping his students. Sadly, he doesn't go into depth of how to solve a problem in her in class powerpoints. I wish he broke the steps down a bit more. There are 3 test that are fairly difficult if you don't understand which formula to use. Test are no more than 13 questions which doesn't help!
Dr Bernardu was a great physics professor. He is very intelligent but is very good at making lectures very simple. He gives homework every Friday but does not grade it. The recitation quizzes are based on the homework. Tests are very straightforward if you study the homework and quizzes. Amazing professor.
Grade was 3 tests plus boost for attendance. His tests are the easier problems from class slides/practice problems and you take the same test twice (averaging scores). He's good at explaining things and cares about his students, but does spend too much time on derivations that won't be on the test. Overall one of the best physics professors.
Dr. Bernardi was awesome! He made an extremely hard course much manageable. Gives 30% of grade for attendance and will replace this if your final exam grade is higher, rest of grade come from 2 midterms (which you can take both twice). All exams were based off in class problems/optional hw problems. All in all very humble, relatable, and dope guy.
Dr. Bernardi is an awesome professor! He genuinely wants students to UNDERSTAND the material rather than regurgitate it. Super funny and very nice guy. I had a work conflict with our second exam and he was completely understanding and made accommodations for me to take a make-up the following week. If you have the chance, take a class with him!
I am not a physics or math person at all, but Dr. Bernadi's class is weighted very fairly. He really cares that we do well and wants us to understand it too. He allows a cheat sheet and talking to the people at your table for the first 10 minutes of every exam.
If you are taking Physics at Auburn take Dr. Bernardi! The weekly homework isn't mandatory but that will help you extremely on the lab quizzes and test, so do it. He has daily activities/attendance that counts for 25% of your grade and even allows you to have a sheet on each exam which helps a ton! Overall would recommend!
Attendance is not mandatory but I highly suggest going because 25% of your grade comes from in class activities which help for exam. Homework is not due but the questions on there are like the quizzes you take in lab which allows you to practice. He allows one sheet of paper for the exam. Highly recommend him!
Dr. Bernardi is willing to help but you have to know your question which is hard with physics being hard. I wish more practice problems were available with how to work them out--maybe like practice tests. I currently sit at a low A and do not know if I will be able to maintain that with the final being historically harder than his tests.
He genuinely wants his students to do well. He gives points for attendance, and his tests are fairly straight forward, but you definitely have to study and pair attention to do well. I would definitely take him again!
Dr. Bernardi was great. His exams are based very heavily on the homework, so do that, and you'll be fine. He goes over a lot of problems in lecture and gives you time to work them out. I wouldn't have an A if I took this with another professor.
The best physics professor at Auburn, TAKE HIM!! In-class assignments but he makes sure you get 10/10 every time. You're allowed to talk to your table mates for 10 minutes at the beginning of each exam as well as having a cheat sheet (full page) front and back of whatever you want. The exam questions are from homework + lecture problems
Professor Bernardi made his actual class very manageable and his tests very approachable. He is such a nice guy and can tell he genuinely cares about his students. Sheet of paper and discussion period allowed on exams (which are MC). He doesn't write the final exam but is helpful in preparing. Go to class and study for tests and you will be fine!
The best professor!!! Dr Bernardi makes lecture fun and is very kind. I would not consider myself a physics person, but by the end of the semester, I enjoyed doing physics problems. If you can, take Dr. Bernardi (he is the best) and go to class as much as possible, it is very helpful!!
He is amazing and cares for his students to learn! I am not great at physics at all but he explains things well and the majority of the points come from in-class activities (that he gives the answers to at the end of class). Attendance isn't mandatory, but would highly recommend going to class! Tests are VERY similar to the optional homework.
The class is frustrating at times because it feels like complex topics are glazed over, but if you do the homework you will be fine. Also, attendance is a large part of your grade, so if you go to class the majority of the time you'll have a good buffer. Just be prepared to spend a good amount of time on practice problems and you will be prepared.
This is an amazing professor. He is clear about the tests and what is expected and allows cheat sheets and 10 min at beginning of the exam to discuss the exam in a group setting. I really learned the material and felt confident about the final. Make sure you choose a good group to sit with at the beginning as there will be many group discussions.
Professor Bernardi was a good teacher. His tests were fair and a good amount of the grade comes from going to class. He didn't overcomplicate things.
Dr. Bernardi is amazing. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are daily graded in-class assignments. During the first 10 min of exams, it is group work. I recommend going to lectures or else you will be lost and will have to learn through videos or by reading the textbook yourself. he takes his lecture material from the textbook.
His course was very manageable. We had 4 exams and a cumulative final in the lecture. The lab quizzes are important and a heavy part of the grade but he gives optional homework that is super helpful in studying for the quizzes. I recommend doing the homework each week it is extremely helpful for exams and quizzes.
Dr. Bernardi was a great teacher. He gave many practice problems for the exams and quizzes. Attendance is mandatory but you can miss about 5 classes and still get full credit for attendance.
I f with him heavy. He's pretty lax
Super fun, super cool. He's a go with the flow kind of teacher. Cares about his students. Just pay attention and ask questions and you'll be fine!
He is super nice and helpful but be ready to do all your learning outside of class. He gives out weekly homework (not to turn it just to have and study) but make sure you know how to do those because your weekly lab quizzes and exams are pulled straight from it. If you do the homework, you will pass fine. The homework is also on youtube with steps.
Bernardi is a beast. 25% of grade is simply showing up. 4 tests + a final exam. Allowed to have a cheat sheet for each test. Super laid back teacher. Total beast. Just try not to suck at physics and you' be okay.
Hard class cause physics suck regardless, but he's dope. Would probably go to war for him.
His lectures are helpful, but in reality you end up learning most of the content when you do the homework. He's super nice and very willing to help and answer any questions. Weekly quizzes that are problems either straight off of the homework (but with different numbers) or problems from lecture. Tests are all multiple choice.
I LOVE DR. BERNARDI! His exams were multiple choice and typically very similar to homework. The material is hard, but he is very very fair and really wants each and every student to succeed. SO MANY extra practice resources in the textbook. 10/10
Bernardi is a great professor and i would 100% take this class again, though this class is hard he makes it a whole lot more manageable.
Points are spread out well. Since the lab is a part of the class your grade is not quite as test-heavy. Bernardi is the best physics 1500 professor at Auburn. Some explanations were hard to follow but most of the time things were explained relatively well.
There are in-class participation questions on TopHat. I agree that the class should be split for architecture students. The first online lab needs better instructions or a picture of what a proper graph looks like. I lost points because I put the equation outside the graph. It was never specified where I should put it. lowest lab grade I had.
He clearly cares and does everything he can to help you get a good grade. The homework isn't for a grade but is identical to quizzes. He lets you make an equation sheet for exams, but there is a given one for the final. If you put in any effort, you'll do well. I recommend going to class and participating. I wish he was teaching phys 2 this spring
Do each week's homework and make sure to go to exam review sessions. Though attendance is not mandatory, I highly recommend attending lecture because they do help. Bernardi is a very caring professor that wants his students to understand what they are learning. Go to his office hours and you will get the help that you need! Take his class!
He was very kind and approachable. I enjoyed this class.
Professor Bernardi is a very caring professor. He wants you to succeed in his class. If you go to class and pay attention you will do well. I also went to office hours which were very helpful.
The content is difficult, but he gives homework every week, identical to the lab quizzes. The exams are pretty easy, and you get 10 mins to work on exams as a group and a cheat sheet. He is always eager to help with questions on exams, too. The lectures may be a tad confusing, but if you're willing to work outside class, you'll do fine! Take him!
His class is hard but he does his best to make is easier. You get a cheat sheet front and back for every exam but the final. The first 10 minutes of every test you get to work together. The lab quizzes are very helpful and will end up looking very similar to the test. He really ants his students to succeed.
Lectures were very helpful and he always has practice problems throughout the lectures. You get a cheat sheet for every exam and you can talk to people for the first ten minutes. All multiple choice questions. Very friendly and easy to approach for help.
Overall Dr. Bernardi is a great professor, that really cares about his students. I will say some exams are short and have questions that build on one another, so it can be easy to not do well on exams. he does lots of in class review sessions for exams. I would recommend going to office hours if you are struggling, he is super easy to talk to.
Bernardi is a great professor and a great guy, never liked physics very much until I had him. The class could sometimes be frustrating because the exams are super short, so there is not much margin for error. However, it was offset by the helpful lab quizzes and grades, so it was simple to excel in. Definitely take him if you can.
Great professor. As someone who had never taken physics before, Bernardi was a great teacher. There were some topics I had to watch videos on outside of class, but I thought his tests were fair from what we were provided. He is also very approachable and cares about his students.
Professor Bernardi provided us with ample opportunities to succeed. When you didn't understand a concept, he was very good about walking you through it. You can bring a cheat sheet on tests and the first 10 minutes can be done as a group which helps ease the nerves of a test day.
Dr. Bernardi was a great professor who really cared about all students and how they did in the class. Physics can be a hard class but if you do the practice he provides and go to SI sessions you will most likely do well.
Dr. Bernardi was a great physics professor! I struggled early in the semester but was able to end up doing well. The way the grading was weighted, he gave us lots of opportunities to do well and make up points in other areas. The homework was extremely helpful and important to doing well on recitation quizzes. Usually no surprises on quizzes/exams!
Dr. Bernardi was a really good professor, make sure to come to class and do the review problems before tests because his tests are very similar! He wants us all to succeed and really understand what he is teaching us, would definitely take him again if I could!
Bernardi is a generous teacher. The material is tough, but you're allowed to write your own formula sheet for in class exams. Also, lots of things contribute to your overall grade, so if you fail a test, you can recover. But be prepared to figure out how to solve most of the problems on your own because he does not really work them out in class.
Grading and tests are fair, he just doesn't really work out problems in class so make sure you practice them on your own.
Definitely the better of the 2 professors for Physics at Auburn but this class is HARD. He is your best option to do better in this class but he rushes through slides and does not thoroughly break down how to use equations. No curves, extra credit, or really any assignments outside of tests and labs. Go to class and lean on your lab TA for help!!
Lectures are confusing at times but the exams are very clear multiple choice questions exactly like the homework. Sometimes there is a question or two that is tricky. Quizzes are like the homework too. Important to stay on top of lectures and hw or it's easy to fall behind. Bernardo is a great guy though.
He was a great professor!! His homework assignments were optional, but were almsot identical to his tests and quizzes. Take advantage of the blank page he allows you to bring to each exam!!
He is the best option for a physics professor. Labs are easy, just study homeworks for lab quizzes. Exams are not too bad just make sure to make sure to take advantage of the cheat sheet. Attendance is important to get the in-class participation points and it is necessary to get the solutions to problems done in lectures.
Physics is a hard class but Dr. Bernardi was able to make each topic easier to understand. The final grade was composed of 4 exams, participation, weekly quizzes, lab reports, and the final. He allows a cheat sheet for every exam except the final. Homework is not for a grade but it is almost identical to questions on the quizzes and exams.
Good professor, if you don't suck at physics you should be fine. The quizzes are all based off the homework and the tests are similar to what is done in class.
Professor Bernardi is one of my favorite professors. Physics is a difficult course, but he explains everything very well. If you do the homework problems, attend class, and go to his office hours, this should not be a very difficult course.
Physics is going to be difficult regardless of the professor, but Bernardi makes it manageable and does everything he can to help. Go to class!! There are in class participation opportunities and helpful practice questions almost every lecture. Weekly lab quizzes are an opportunity to help (or hurt) your grade.
Dr. Bernardi is one of the kindest professors I have had at Auburn. His lectures are clear and to the point and he provides a ton of practice problems and weekly homework to prepare you for lab quizzes and exams. He wants to help his students. 4 exams all multiple choice and a standardized final. I wouldn't take physics with anyone else!!
Good professor. Extra credit at the end. Attendance for extra credit. Si and weekly hw will help you pass the tests
This is probably one of the best physics teachers you will get at Auburn, but it would be best if you put in the work. Every class is mostly lecture and tophat. There is weekly optional homework that helps with the lab quizzes. The tests are based on material you've seen before. He doesn't make the final so you must study a few weeks in advance.
Bernardi is one of the best professors at Auburn. If you are taking PHYS 1500 take him.
Definitely a really good professor and approachable. Lectures are fast paced, doesn't really go over the hw but it is optional, exams are very similar to the hw and "extra credit" is tophat which is attendance and problems. You're allowed a cheat sheet and he doesn't care what was on it. Overall, I recommend him.
Dr. Bernardi was a great professor for Physics 1. 4 exams and a final with pre-lab quizzes each week based upon the material from the previous week. Quizzes and exams are very similar to the homework and problems worked in class. A cheat sheet is allowed on tests with whatever information you want. Overall a very solid professor.
Provides assistance if you ask and was very accessible outside of class. I went to his office hours before exams and he was always super helpful. Very approachable and doesn't make Physics harder than it needs to be. Study and you'll do well.
Bernardi is really good at teaching, and he is extremely passionate. He cares about the success and well-being of his students. I struggled GREATLY in this class because I struggle with the subject as a whole, but if you go to class and pay attention to the lectures you will do well. If you go to class it can only help your grade.
Bernardi does want students to succeed and is a very caring professor. On the other hand, your grade is made up of majority exam grades with heavy weight. To perform well in this course, it will take a lot of practice and extra help outside of class due to the difficulty of material.
If you have to take Physics you need to take Bernardi. His class structure is amazing and you get to talk to your table for 10 min before you start the exam which is so nice. It is important to go to class because he has TopHat and participation can really effect your grade.
You can tell Bernardi actually cares for his students and wants them to learn the subject! The content can be hard but the lectures are very effective and well explained. Would recommend!
Dr. Bernardi is a great teacher, and the best physics teacher by far. Defiantly take his class if you have the chance to. The exams were not necessarily easy but being able to use a cheat sheet was very helpful.
Hard class but nice professor. The tests are hard, but a lot of the ?'s are the same as the HW, so do the HW to prepare you for exams & quizzes. Allows a full piece of paper with notes for exams which is helpful. He always says "Easy, right?" and then moves on quickly, so I get behind during lecture. Class attendance counts for extra credit.
Bernardi is a great professor! He keeps his lectures interesting and is very clear about testing material. He allows "cheat sheets" for the exams and even allows the first ten minutes of exams to be taken in a group. Bernardi genuinely cares about his students and wants to see them succeed.
I think that the content was hard but he did a great job of teaching it to us. He is the best math professor I have had at Auburn.
Dr. Bernardi is a great professor. He cares a lot for his students and will help you anytime you ask a question and make sure you understand what you are doing. I recommend taking him, and would 100% take him again.
Allows "cheat sheets" to be brought to exams and gives you time to discuss any questions you don't know how to do at the start with others. On Exam 3 there was a string of questions worth 50% of your grade that were all sequential, so if you got the first answer wrong, the best you could get on the exam was a 50% even if you knew the other concepts
Prof Bernardi is very accessible outside of class and very helpful during office hours. He is kind and cares about his students. He gives lots of practice questions and gives good test reviews. I had to do a lot of outside learning because he does not always go in-depth on problems or their equations and just skims over the work without doing it.
Dr. Bernardi made a challenging class manageable by providing ample optional homework problems and in-class examples. These problems were very similar to test material, so there were not too many surprises. Attendance is not mandatory, but there were in class questions that counted for points. Lectures were fast paced.
Bernardi is a really good teacher and the way his class is laid out makes getting an A very doable. The quizzes and tests are exactly the homework and he gives you a "cheat sheet" on all tests. For the final and quizzes though you get a formula sheet but you can write on it. Overall if you do the homework and understand them you will do well.
He is a great professor! He wants his students to be successful and makes the expectations clear. The homework is very similar to exams. As long as you do the homework and in class problems you will be good for the exams. Lab can really help your grade.
Professor Bernardi is a helpful professor. He understands physics is difficult and tries his best to help us. Often class feels to short to cover everything, but he gives us the slides every lecture and gives us homework that's more so practice for each chapter and exam. Physics is a hard class and will be hard no matter where you take it.
He's amazing. be sure to do the hw so you understand the material. This was my first time taking physics and I feel like I have a very good understanding now.
Professor Bernardi is a really great professor. Physics is a struggle for me, but his lectures are pretty clear and easy to follow, and his office hours are helpful if you're struggling. There are five tests in total, which may seem like a lot; however, it ended up helping me, since I really struggled on the first two but made A's on the last few.
Bernardi genuinely wants students to succeed. Offers first 15 minutes of taking the test to be taken in groups. Sets up opportunities for bonus as well.
Very sweet and funny. If you're pre-health/non engineering he's good bc he understands that physics might not be a strong suit. Some test problems were hard but lets us talk for the first 10 mins. Does alot of flipping through slides. I don't learn well like that so I had to do hw out of class to help get the material down, but hw is optional
He doesn't write out all of his work on his PowerPoint, so you have to go to class to get the work but the majority of notes are posted online, so you can skip. Originally, he said that we would have partial credit on exams, which was a complete lie. Every exam is 10 questions, 10 points each. A small mistake will completely mess up your grade.
Dr. Bernardi is great! When the majority of the class did poorly on an exam, he allowed us to replace our lowest exam grade with a bonus exam. For every exam, even the final, we were given 10 minutes to work on the exam with the people around us. We were also given a cheat sheet for each exam but not the final.
He's a great proffessor, his tests and lectures are straightforward. Show up to lecture and you will do well.
We were given a bonus 5 question exam to replace our lowest test grade which was a game changer. We got a cheat sheet and 10 minutes to talk for every test except the final. The homework and class problems are just like the ones you see on the test.
Dr. Bernardi is one of the best professors I have had. The only thing that has really kept me from getting an A is that I am not that good at math. He lets us use a cheat sheet, and talk for 10 minutes with our partners for all 4 of our tests. He is a great professor and the lectures and slides are amazing. Take this professor if you can.
He is very approachable and helpful when you ask questions. His homework questions are very close to the quizzes. However, his exams are 12-15 questions, all multiple choice, with no partial credit, so grading is kinda harsh. His PowerPoint and problem solutions are kinda hard to follow, and he moves quickly, so use your resources.
I was scared coming into this class but Dr. Bernardi truly wants everyone to succeed. He gives us 10 minutes to talk before each exam/final and for the 4 regular exams we could use cheat sheets. The lab quizzes are similar to the homework for the most part but could be a bit tricky. Overall definitely recommend taking him for this course.
Dr. Bernardi was a good teacher. He gave 4 tests, and gave out homework that was optional. The homework was similar to the lab quizzes but in my opinion they were still hard. The tests are okay but some questions are harder than others. He also moves fast in lectures and doesn't really work out questions except for just putting it on the screen.
The tests are heavily based off the problems from the homework and from the lecture slides. The homework is optional and ungraded but if you understand them you should do well on the tests. The test are all multiple choice. There is no need to read the textbook and the lectures comprehensively cover the material. Nice and helpful teaching style.
I love Dr. Bernardi. He cares a lot about his students and always wants to help. Ask questions !! He is happy to help out. Highly recommend. Physics is difficult but if you try hard in his class you will do well.
I loved Dr. Bernardi. He is a very caring professor who want you to succeed. Physics is a hard topic but he does his best to help you do well. Ask a lot of questions, he is happy to answer!! Highly recommend.
Although attendance isn't mandatory, it is extremely helpful and you have to attend 75% of the classes anyways. He really cares about your success in the class and provides ample amounts of opportunities for you to truly learn the material so that you feel more prepared on exam day. Your grade us factored by a lot of things rather than just exams.
Dr. Bernardi made the complicated and new concept of physics make some sense! His class is test heavy but he prepares students very well for tests. He also has quizzes which are held during lab which can help boost your grade. His lectures are engaging and helpful, and he does a lot of practice problems.
Professor Bernardi is awesome! He is super helpful and caring and really wants his students to do well. His tests aren't extremely hard and are closely related to his homework questions and lecture questions. The lab quizzes are usually also based on homework problems. Go to his office hours!! It helps. If you have to take physics, take Bernardi!
SWEETEST MAN EVER! make sure you do the hw even though its not required, its copy and paste for lab quizzes and is similiar to exams, plus most answers were on youtube. Exams were very doable, but watch out for exam 3(I made one simple mistake a got a 50). AND SI WAS MOST TIMES COPY PASTE ON THE EXAMS SO GO. The labs were very confusing at times.
I really did not like Bernardi at first. As the semester went on, I began to get better at physics, however I do not really give any credit to Bernardi for helping me get there. I had to seek a lot of outside help because Bernardi is the type of teacher who just gets it and doesn't know how to explain what he's thinking. Overall doable class.
Very nice and personable professor. I personally struggle with physics, but I definitely could have done better if I tried harder. I needed a 63 on the final to keep my B and received a 63.75. A lot of people said the same thing happened to them, so he is generous if you try. The final was challenging, but the cheat sheets are helpful for the exams
He's awesome! I would definitely take him again! Does tons of practice problems in class. Optional homework, but you need to do it to do well on the lab quizzes and tests. You can tell he really wants his students to do well!
He did not teach material. Material on lab quiz are not gone over in class. All learning must be done outside of class.
He is a very nice guy, but his ability to teach physics is very lacking. I took a rigorous high school physics class, so I knew most material. The students in this class are mostly biomedical science and building science majors, so they aren't dumb. The average on every test is around a 60 with no curve or bonus opportunity. Blamed grades on us.
Have to do lots of outside studying. Bernardi does is helpful, but if you don't understand his methods, he is not as helpful. Outside tutoring was my best bet! Still ended with a great grade! He scaled some of our exams, which was helpful. Take him
Professor Bernardi is a super nice guy who really cares about his students. He knows physics well but isn't always the best at teaching it clearly. Two tests are easy and two are tough, but grading is fair. I used Crambetter tutoring all year, which helped a lot in Physics.
Hard class but is a great professor; no matter where you sit in class he will go help you one on one. Lots of learning outside of class is needed but its mainly just working out problems that help you learn so its not bad in the long run. TA's are so funny and amazing they make lab not easier to get through.
Attendance is not required, but he gives points that hold a lot of weight if you attend. Extremely approachable guy, and he is willing to help. It is a hard class, which is expected, but he scales/gives bonuses when needed. If you put in the work and decipher how the class is formatted you will do fine.
He is a great professor and is very good at explaining the problems and how to solve them. All the exam questions come from problems that were in the HW or the lectures. You can write your own equation sheet and bring it to the exams, and as long as it is hand-written, he does not care what you put on it. I would take him as a professor again.
Very reasonable grader and if I were to take this course again I would want him as my professor. All of the questions that are seen on the exam have had similar questions seen either through the lectures or the homework (which is optional). He wants his students to do well and sets them up for success to earn a good grade.
Professor Bernardi is great! He cares about his students and wants you to do well. This is a challenging course and tests can be very difficult, however he is very helpful in office hours. Be prepared to struggle but if you work hard you will do well. There are quizzes every week in lab, so you must study and not fall behind on material.
Bernardi was great, physics is just a hard topic. Lectures are laid out well with practice problems integrated in. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does TopHat questions for every class that count for credit. He truly cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed so he is very available outside of class and answers questions well.
He tends to move quickly in lectures at times but his exams are fair and close to what the practice problems are like. It is very clear that he wants his students to succeed in this class.
Dr. Bernardi is awesome. You can tell that he really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I gave it a 4 for difficulty because it is a hard course in general, but if you prepare well and go to his lectures, it is manageable. He tries his best to gives offer a lot of time outside of class to go talk to him and drops your lowest exam.
He is very approachable and it is obvious that he wants his students to succeed. There are quizzes that are every week during your lab that are extremely similar to the homework. He moves pretty fast during lectures, but is very helpful if you ask him a question one on one. His lectures also include a lot of practice problems with them worked out.
Very hard course, but he makes it doable. I don't like that there is no partial credit on tests. He cares a lot about the students and gives extra credit as well as rounds grades. His lectures kinda suck bc he goes really fast and doesn't explain well but there are always helpful videos online.
He is knowledgeable in physics but he doesn't understand the disconnect we're having learning the material and he moves too fast through problems in lecture. There are 4 exams and a final which were pretty difficult. We had a weekly quiz before every lab, do the hw problems it's usually similar to that. He drops an exam and quiz grade which helped
Very kind and supportive. The class is tough but he does everything he can in my opinion to help.
He was a really great professor! He is very willing to help you just have ask!!
Overall the class is hard, but he does a pretty good job of teaching it. Sometimes there are difficult topics he doesn't explain well but if you look at the book or practice problems you can sort of navigate your way through.
Nice guy who makes his tests pretty easy, definitely would take again.
He always tries his best to help when you are stuck, but you HAVE to speak up and ask or else he won't know how to help.
Professor Bernadi is a great professor, he cares about his students. The only problem I had is that you're only graded by tests and quizzes, no homework or anything.
Dr. Bernardi's class is definitely hard but if you go to class and do the daily questions, it will help your grade a lot. Doing the homework is very helpful for the exams. Many of the questions you do in class and on the homework are very similar to the exam questions. Also, the lab is somewhat helpful for understanding and it affects your grade.
Dr. Bernardi is very kind and genuinely cares that you understand the material. I did not like how he doesn't write out how to do problems by hand, instead he just clicks to the next slide. Overall physics is just a hard class but he was very fair. Tests are hard. I recommend really studying for exam 1, you think it will be easy. It wasn't.
Dr. Bernardi is great! He gives a lot of resources to prepare for exams. Just make sure to study all practice problems, including the problems solved in the lectures.
Does problems in class but doesn't work them out just shows answer and moves on. 2 exams had A or B averages and the other two averaged in the 50s but each exam is only 10%. Tophat questions for points but will reopen after giving the answer, replaces this grade with the final if you don't want to come to class. Drops lowest exam, quiz, and lab.
Good guy, goes very fast and wish he hand wrote math problems which makes it difficult. Quizzes in lab didn't correlate with homework sometimes but overall not a bad and the averages on exams were low especially first but after that it gets better
The exams are difficult, but there are quizzes and attendance points to boost your grade. Make sure to do all the homework problems and many practice problems on your own.
It is very achievable to get a good grade in this class. He cares about his students, has great slides, and he bases his test directly on the problems he gives in class and the problems he posts on canvas. Only critique- he needs to explain easy concepts better/write them out. good professor though would recommend.
I loved Bernardi. Physics is hard, but he genuinely cares for his class. He understands not everyone there wants to go into a career that needs physics, and he caters to that. He is pretty quick in going through notes, but you get used to it. He gives a lot of practice and is there to help. Great choice for physics. 100% recommend.
Dr.Bernardi is an awesome professor and really cares about you as a student. He is always very welcoming in office hours and truly wants you to learn, he also understands that not everyone has had physics before his class so he is good about meeting you where you are. I would highly recommend you take him!
Dr. Bernardi is great! 10/10 recommend him! Physics is difficult in general, but he makes it very easy to get an A in class. The most difficult thing is the built-in labs. Third exam is the worst one!
Not a lot of grades in the course outside of lab quizzes/assignments and exams! You are going to have to put in a lot of work outside of class, but overall exams are striaght-forward! Bernardi is super fair with grading, offers bonus points, will occasionally curve, and really organized with grading! I would take him over other professors!
Bernardi is overall a great professor who wants you to succeed. His tests are very fair and there are a lot of resources available to help if you are struggling in physics. My only complaint is that the lectures went really fast and a lot of times it felt like he was just reading off the slides rather than explaining. I would recommend taking him.
He is so nice and cares for students. However, this is a tough class and it was hard to follow when the problems were not clearly written out and explained. Overall, nice guy but tough to follow sometimes. Drops lowest test, lab, participation.
Physics is a subject that one cannot learn simply by sitting in class. DO PRACTICE PROBLEMS.
He was pretty good the problems on his tests are 80% ones you've previously done in class so study those.
He is a nice professor. exams are fair. But I think this class is hard, you need to be ready to spend a lot of time on it.
Dr. Bernardi did a fantastic job teaching this course! He made it easier to understand for a much harder class. He legitimately cares about his students performance and 10 points back onto the exams with the lowest averages. He makes learning physics engaging especially for students who wont exactly use physics in the future.
Best COSAM prof i have ever had at Auburn. Lock in for the first exam bc its really hard
This teacher is SO good and I would 100% take him again! He explains everything really well and will re-explain anything if you need it. He is also always so happy which makes physics a little more bearable.
Dr. Bernardi is wonderful! He's always willing to help fill in the gaps if you are struggling with understanding something. My only critique is pacing, but physics has A LOT of material. Overall, a genuinely caring and passionate professor and that is so so appreciated in these kinds of courses.
Dr. Bernardi is the best physics professor, lets you use a cheat cheat sheet for exams, so the more effort you put into the sheet = the better the grade. Very nice and funny.
Best option for physics. 4 exams, and a final (with cheat sheet). The only thing is he doesn't work through problems but talks through them instead which was hard at times. Beware of lab quizzes, they tanked my grade. Bernardi will help you during exams so if your confused, ask him!! If I had anyone else I would have failed physics.
He really cared for students. Homework is not graded. Beware of the labs, their is a quiz at the beginning of every one. He drops your lowest test grade and you can make your own cheat sheet for each on. I did not pay attention in class and studied a couple days before the test and got a B. Test 1 & 2 are difficult, but 3 & 4 are easy.
The labs really tanked my grade because of the quizzes, although I later learned they are the exacts same as that weeks homework. Our TA, Justin, was helpful and had to walk each group through the labs bc they are so confusing. You have to use excel for almost every lab, so if someone in your group doesn't know how to use excel, you are screwed.
