DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. i took it online and it was the biggest mistake of my entire semester. She does not make anything clear on the lab exercises. you might think it's an easy class because there are no exams, just 4 major labs and a quiz each week. However this professor does not clarify ANYTHING on the labs, which are greatly weighted.
dont take this class, unless contradicting, irrational professors are your fancy. She implied that a research paper was supplementary for a project, then decided it was worth 1/3 of the grade after it was turned in. she then gave everyone Cs and D's on them, calling an entire class incompetent. Extra Credit counts for real credit. total bogus
Online class - probably worst professor to have. Doesn't give a**** about students and all the assignments are EXTREMELY unclear to follow. Doesn't let you know what is expected. My grade was good, but Commitante doesn't help out in anyway even if you are 1 percent off of getting the next letter grade. Avoid.
easy going class. don't need the book at all. she is organized and so are the lectures. couple quizzes, one project/presentation, midterm and final, and offers extra credit. i would highly recommend this class if you're looking for an upper division ge course.
More of a lecture class than an actual lab. She is very passionate about her subject and it shows! Labs were easy, no homework, just show up to class and do the work and you'll get an A!!
Really Cool prof that uses only lecture!
She is the rudest teacher I've ever had. She yells at everyone after labs and exams, basically implying that we're all stupid and shouldn't be in college. She doesn't give many A's. I loathe going to her class, and I love anthropology. I will never take her again and you shouldn't either.
She is a good professor and will help you if you need help! She is funny too!
BEWARE! Online class- Do not take this professor. She is very unclear with the lab assignments and her grading is very tough. I have never been such an unfair professor.
This professor is teaching an undergraduate course but she grades on a masters level. She is approachable but unable to be reasoned with regarding grading criteria. The course requires you to write in APA format but she grades it on masters research APA using numbered references as the format. This is wrong!!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! The writing assignments seem easy on paper but the grading quite different. She almost makes me feel stupid with the comments on my papers. I honestly hate this class!!!! I was actually looking forward to taking this class but I am completely regretting it. This is a professor who should not be teaching undergrad courses
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I like anthropology but not after this class. She is unclear with instructions, assignments and makes you feel stupid by the grading. There are 4 writing labs. If you do not know APA format on a masters level do not take this class. I was hoping to enjoy this class but I HONESTLY & TRULY HATE THE CLASS!!!!!!
Shes really friendly and down to earth if you meet her in her office hours but wow this class sucks. really boring, unclear and just stupid. She does make you feel like a retard
This Class was ridiculous. The Professor was very unclear and confusing. She does not provide any type of review or study guide, and leaves students in the dark. Lectures are long and BORING, I'm a junior and have never had to worry about my grade before this professor. Dont take this class!
THE WORST TEACHER!!!!!!! Do not get this teacher! Lecture classes have nothing to do with pointless assignments. Had nothing to do with anthropology and it is VERY rare for her to give B's let alone A's. She argues with any questions you have on her lectures and will do whatever she can to fail her students. Do NOT take this teacher.
Professor Commitante is THE worst professor I have encountered at CSUF. She belittles you and does not explain anything clearly. She then expects you to know how to do her assigments, while constantly changing her demands. DO NOT take any classes taught by Commitante.
Had her for physical anthro at Fullerton College. Lectures are a little boring. She expects you to know more than you should. Just try hard read the book, and pay attention. Besides the lackluster teaching, I LOVED her personality. Great person!
I only stayed in the class for a few wks & had to drop because she was out of control when it came to grading papers- and I'm an English major! She doesn't use traditional writing outlines when grading papers and expects a lot w/out clear instruction. She seemsed like a nice person though. I would not take her class again.
I love ANTH, but do not anymore after this class. She gives C's and D's on all papers if she doesn't like the way you write. She makes you feel stupid and does write rude comments. She grades and treats this course as a grad level. NOT RECOMMENDED to anyone.
I completely disagree with what everyone said about this teacher. Before taking this course, I never really appreciated Anthropology as much as I do after taking this course. Yes, it is challenging but that is what helps us improve as students. With each essay, I just progressively got better. Shes knowledgable and really works to help you improve.
do not take for summer! iono how she is during the regular semester but she's SUPER strict on citations. you literally have to cite EVERYTHING if you don't want to be marked down. discussion boards didn't encourage discussions. not very helpful. vague in emails and always said to refer to syllabus when you have questions.
I was shocked to see the comments for this Professor because I had an amazing experience. She went out of her way to help everyone in every way-I thought some students were taking advantage but she made it clear that she wanted to make sure everyone was getting something out of her class. lectures were interesting. She is very intelligent.
Dr. Commitante is a really nice lady. She is overly ecstatic about osteology and anthropology and she is able to keep you interested. As long as you go to class everyday and do decently on the midterm and average on the final, you can pass. I have not finished my essay yet, but I think APA is easier than MLA. She has a wealth of knowledge.Take her.
Her class was really easy! You dont have to show up to get a descent grade in her class. Make sure you read what her quizes are based on. As long as you do that and spend a little time on your midterm and final paper, you'll do fine. I didn't put much time and effort into her class and i got a B. She is strict about citations though.
I would not recommend this professor! She is crazy strict on attendance but not very helpful. She wants you to cite EEVERYTHING in APA format but she doesn't follow the guidelines, she makes up her own.She rarely gives Bs much less As and the bulk of your grade depends on the essays that must be perfect to her standards...which are unreasonable!!!!!
This professor is anal about her citations, of which she claims to follow APA format. She will find more opportunities to fail you then help you. I had to drop her class because I was doing everything she asked and still barely averaging a C. I asked for help before assignments were due and she would just tell me to refer to my syllabus!Ridiculous!
I completely agree with these comments. She seems like a nice person and maybe for her 100 level classes she's not so bad but she is nuts about the work she requires for 300 level GE course. I'm not an Anthro major and I could have filled this GE requirement with a much easier course. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, esp. if your not an Anthro major!!!
this professor was amazingly hard. I felt like i was struggling the whole way through. She is an extremely hard grader. I am normally an A student on essays, and i barely got C's i even had my dad help me and she gave me horrible grades. I felt like an F student, rather than a B student in her class.
You will do a LOT of writing. If you need help go to office hours, but you better get there 1st, there is a long line. After the 3rd paper you don't get an explanation, you just get a grade. She won't get grades back before the next paper, so you just have to guess if you need to change your style. I'd try another prof if at all possible.
You will do a LOT of writing. Get there first for office hours or there will be a line of people needing help. Very tough grader, after the 3rd paper we didn't get explanations for our scores, you just got a score. Also didn't get grades back in a timely manner so you had to guess if you needed to change your style. Take someone else if possible
Hard class for a non major, i took it online and it was a miracle that i passed with a B. She does give you extra credit and understands that it is a hard class. She is anal with APA citation and i never figured it out. I did good on the quizzes and posted on the forums so that explains my grade, i did bad on the 5 labs though they were tricky!
Very hard teacher when it comes to how she grades essays. luckily she balances it out so that it's still possible to do fine in her class if you get C's on the essays. She's really not all that bad of a teacher.
She is very enthusiastic and entertaining when lecturing. No midterm or final. Essays are held to high standard but I got Bs and As on them. She offers many opportunities for extra credit. She's very helpful in her office hours! Textbook is easy and interesting to read. I recommend this class! (if you dont mind writing)
Her eccentric clothing perpetuates the illusion of a fun class. However, in terms of course work, she expects an overwhelming amount without clear instructions and grades harshly. Lectures were useless since they do not frequently pertain to the quizzes and papers. She expects formatting to be done according to her criteria which is very unclear.
Sorry I took class. Way too much work demanded to get a passing grade. 8 quizzes,4 essays, and a master thesis for final. Grade based on accumulated points which are difficult to get. Never clear regarding instructions; always changing mind. Learned so little but dealt with a lot of frustration.
Yes, Dr. Commitante is tough. Considering that this is a university and not high school, that should be a given. I took her class and found her to be exceptionally intelligent and a very nice person who went out of her way to help the students. Don't listen to what other people say but rather form your own opinion based on personal experience.
Class was pretty confusing, but at the same time fun. Lectures are pretty boring, but lab-work was interesting and fun. Not too difficult if you already have some prior knowledge of the skeletal system. Midterm and final were confusing to study for, but was not overly difficult when you take it. Remember to take the online quizzes.
Dr. Commitante is a tough grader but she's always willing to help.
She is one of the absolute worst professors I have ever encountered. She constantly changes the coursework, her instructions are unclear, she treats this undergrad course as if it's a graduate level class geared toward Anthropology majors. She is rude, unhelpful and her coursework is neither engaging or interesting. Avoid her at all costs.
UGH! This teacher is rude, annoying, and grades super hard! For the first half of the semester she couldn't get her life together and kept changing how we did work. Then she grades the 5 papers that we have like we are English majors working on getting our doctorates. The comments that she leaves on papers are mean! DON'T TAKE HER! -Angry Student
Fascinating topics in this course and you will learn a lot if you attend and participate. Yes, she make it challenging with her essays, but in the long run, you will be a better researcher at the end. I am glad she kicked my butt! It wasn't easy, it was work! I thank her for pushing us to be our best :D
Just for help sake for other prospective students, you will find yourself with a very tough grader, a very strict essay grader, also a very cold attitude towards your desire to learn anthro. I really love the study focus, but her approach left me more bewildered in the end.
Yes her classes are difficult, writing based, and she expects a lot of her students, but come on this is not high school anymore. She is a tough grader, but she is always available for help and in the end you'll walk out a better writer. Because of her I excelled in all other classes. Book needed for quizzes. Very interesting lectures! Loved her!
Looking back, Commitante wasn't so bad. I left learning alot of stuff about primates. I didn't really walk into the class with the brightest mind, but I felt like she really tried to motivate me and inspire me to take primates more educated
Looking back on her class, she was a pretty good and easy teacher. Had three essays whole semester, not bad. Had a quiz almost every other week and the test was based on all the quizzes we took so it was basically an easy A.
She is tough when it comes to grading essays, but she took time in the class to go over writing when she felt the class wasn't doing very well. Most of the poor grades seemed to be people not citing referencesnot meeting page requirements, etc. Over all a fun class, she was very funny and the work was not very hard. 3 essays total and easy reading.
This was one of the worst classes I've taken. Her essay prompt is 3 words long and there is no explanation. You are left to write a paper on something that is IMPOSSIBLE to find information on and she won't help you find sources either. She is very unorganized as well. And very rude! You cannot simply have a convo with her, she only yells.
Awful professor. Not clear on assignments and very tough grader. The essays in particular are ridiculously hard. She can be funny at times but her grading system doesn't make any sense. None. Not at all.
There are three mandatory essays. They are literally impossible to get an A on (she even says that at the beginning) because her grading is ridiculously strict. Getting a B is a miracle itself. Her extra credit it attendance. If you have the book that's all you need for the quizzes.
i hated coming to this class. theres 3 essays i got c's on all of them which was extremely disappointing to me because i'm typically good at writing papers... whatever. she was very sarcastic and rude. Quizzes are straight out of the book and the final is all questions directly from the quizzes so its an easy A
She is very nice, but not when it comes to grading. The 3 essays are minimum 800 words. There is really no way you can get an A unless your writing is PERFECT. Most students get 13 or 14 out of 20. Her lectures are pretty long and boring but she doesn't test you on it. The only reason you need to know it is for the essays. Final is sooo easy!
Taking this class because it's the only GE in this category that fits my schedule. Unless you are quite desperate, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This isn't out of any form of their teaching incompetences; I just find assigning a text that's over $100 is completely an unrealistic expectation for students of a 100 level course. Don't take if you're broke.
Do not take this class. It is an online class but she tries to treat it as if it were a daily meeting class. Puts way too much expectation into an online class. Impossible to pass her essays, even if you're the best writer, you won't because she is looking to find something wrong with it. My grade LOWERED after doing EXTRA CREDIT. DO NOT TAKE.
I would steer clear of this class if it was your freshman year. One of the WORST mistakes I have ever made. The best advice I could give was to go to her office hours and bring your rough draft for your essay and she will tell you basically everything that she wants. You take almost weekly quizzes that are based on your reading.
The class is interesting if you read the book and put forth the effort to know what youre reading, it's the essays where she is gets you. She is EXTREMELY UNCLEAR ABOUT WHAT THE ESSAYS REVOLVE AROUND. There are three throughout the course, and she grades very hard on them if they don't meet her unclear expectations.
Discussion post & response, as well as a quiz due every week. 3 essays instead of midterm/final that MURDER your grade. She commended me on a great, well written paper but then gave me 16/20. HARD GRADER. She's a little feisty in her emails as well, but maybe its her version of tough love? Complete all your assignments and you'll pass.
The essays are the real killers-- 3 of them, mandatory, or it's an automatic fail, and her criteria is so nonspecific it's not even funny. Her prompts are extremely short and leave tons of room for confusion. She requires way too much research for a 101 class-- expecting us to dig through science journals for 8 hours is ridiculous.
Only good thing about this class is there is no midterm or final, but she has 3 mandatory essays to make up for that. Is not clear about essay topics, research is ridiculously hard and grades very harshly on them. I got C's on all simply because my style of writing didn't fit well with her. Easy class except when writing her essays.
Dont be fooled by bad rating she is a GREAT teacher. One of the easiest classes I have ever taken. More than half your grade is based on attendance. 10 online quizes which are easy and 3 essays. Essays are mandatory or you automatically fail but they are only 900 words. Best part NO FINAL. Definitely recommend for easy A
Love yourself and DON'T take this class. I wish I listened. I have not learned one thing by going to class, yet, attendance is mandatory and a HUGE part of your grade. The textbook is irrelevant because quiz answers are online. There are three essays that replace the midterm/final but she grades them RIDICULOUSLY HARD. SHE HONESTLY DEPRESSES ME.
I used to be an almost straight A student until this class sucked the life out of me. 3 mandatory 900 word research essays that don't allow for any original thought and a mandatory 20 page research paper. This is the absolute worst (gen ed) class I've ever taken. Only upside is easy quizzes and no major tests, but that doesn't make up for it all.
I took this course in place of biology & I do not regret it AT ALL. She has weekly quizzes, three papers, and three extra credit opportunities. The quizzes are given through this program InQuizzet which I loved because everyone can get 100 on every quiz. Attendance counts towards your grade. She is a little rude but I honestly think its an easy A.
She's a good teacher, I just think her course plans and essays could be better. Her course plan for ANTH 101 involves literally looking at pictures of monkeys for maybe 2 class periods, which in my opinion was a waste of time. Her essays on the other hand make very good use of the online library but can seem pointless in the end.
Worst professor I have EVER had. She is disorganized, an inconsistent grader, and goes off topic too much. There are too many papers (5x5pages)that she grades VERY harshly (You will never get an A on a paper. Trust me). Her lecture slides are irritatingly boring. Please listen to this and the other reviews and SKIP this professor. Save yourself.
Dr. Commitante's papers will basically ruin your chances of getting an A in any of her classes. She has an extremely specific way of typing papers that differ drastically from all the other anthropology professors. Basically, it's her way or the highway. And since there's very little things that are graded in this class, the papers ruin your grade.
This is an influential professor and cares about her students. I had her for 3 classes in one semester. She pushes her students to do the best that they can do. Take her if you want to LEARN and do not expect it to be like any other prof you have had in the past.
Dont let the reviews scare you. She may come off as a little scary but shes actually very nice and helpful. Weekly quizzes all in the book, 3 essays and then a main 15 page essay at the end. Its doable. Attendance is checked everyday and she will kick you out for being on your phone
Bought the book but would only use it for the quizzes (you can google all the answers so don't need it) This class consists of like 8 quizzes, 3 (900 word) papers, and a final 15 page research paper (including title page & works cited) She makes class interesting & overall easy. Papers or not as bad as it seems! She extends the deadlines too
She looks for the smallest things to critique you on. There are 4 labs, no final/midterm. gives you the option to do 10 quizzes or work with monkey business cafe for 20 hours in the arboretum. I did the quizzes (includes the book) and her questions are paraphrased so its hard to find the answer if you dont read. Her lectures arent needed for labs.
Grades based on weekly quizzes and 4 essays. Quizzes were completely based on reading from the textbook, not lectures, yet lectures were absolutely mandatory and a HUGE part of the final grade. Essays were graded subjectively with no clear grading criteria. All grading seemed completely based on her mood rather than actual criteria.
She makes attendance mandatory but then uploads all her lectures online. 10 small online test that can be passed with 100% and 3 short research essays that aren't to difficult.
Commitante was an absolute delight to have as a teacher. She really knows what she is talking about and really cares about her students. Her office hours are very nice to go to because she always offers help on essays. She really wants to see you succeed. There are just 10 online quizzes that you can easily get 100% on & unlimited tries & 3 essays.
Commitante 's class was very easy if you manage your time and seek additional help. There are no tests, she has weekly online quizzes that are based on the textbook, and a final paper. She has powerpoints every class (that I did not bother taking notes on, honestly). She is a tough grader but GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS, she will help you out a lot!
I do not recommend taking this course with this professor. I was so excited for it but feel like I got nothing out of the course. Her lectures were disorganized and she herself is all over the place.
- No phones or laptops can be seen. She will ask you to leave class if she sees you texting. - NO TESTS! Just weekly online quizzes. - Attendance is mandatory and is a huge part of the grade. - 4 essays total and the last one I wrote 17 pages so beware. - Overall it wasn't that bad. I usually don't do well in these classes but got a B+.
The professor has an amazing personality and is very fair. However, this class is very time consuming. For a G.E. class I think it was way too much work. It consisted of 3papers, 10 quizes, a group project and a 15page final paper with a tough grading criteria. I can understand if it was a major class but its a G.E. for most.
You get points for attendance so definitely show up to class. At the end of the semester she offers extra credit if you don't miss a day so that's a plus. She posts lectures online so you don't need to take notes. There are no exams but 3 papers. If you do really good on these papers you can definitely pass the class. Easy points with inquizitive
Shes very condescending if you have questions about her unclear instructions. Sent out mass emails where she passive aggressively that its our fault we were confused about her instructions. She will not even follow her own grading rubric. 8 quizzes, 3 essays. APA heavy, need the book. She killed my interest in ANTHRO. Horrible person/teacher
If you're sensitive don't take her. She is condescending and snobby when it comes to Anthro knowledge. Communicating with her is a pain whether it is email or spoken word because she can be rude. Her class work is not all that bad but it is more than you would think for. a GE. As a 4th year, I do more for her classes than my upper divisions.
I was going to give this class the benefit of the doubt because of Covid, but this is toughest GE class I have ever taken. She assigns 3 papers and grades them expecting us to already be experts on the subject, although most of us join the class not knowing much; I spend more time doing research for these papers than my upper-div classes.
I have taken advanced English courses and have put in less effort and achieved higher grades than those in Dr. Commitante's course. There are no exams, only 7 quizzes, and 5 essays, one of which is a 10-page essay. I took this course to fulfill a GE requirement but I put in more work in her course than my division courses.
I regret taking this class so much. There are 10 quizzes easy A they are all online. Lectures are mandatory. 300 word discussion posts every week. 3 SUPER HARD essays. It is a must or an F for the class. Tough grader for how unclear her instructions are. She's kinda rude. Trust me love yourself and don't take this class look at the ratings cmon.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. The work load is so unnecessarily heavy and she doesn't FOLLOW HER OWN GRADING RUBRIC! Scheduled a one-on-one with her and I have never had a teacher so tactless and rude. She happily talks down on you and your writing 7 Quizzes, 5 Essays (1.2k word minimum and with the final being 10 pages) and a weekly 700 word discussion.
I took this class to fulfill a GE credit and it is the worst decision Ive made. She is flat out rude. There are weekly quizzes which are easy As and weekly discussion posts. There are 3 essays, all APA. She is so strict with her grading. I loathe this class. Do not take this class if you dont have to.
Prof. Commitante is obviously very passionate about her class, however she is difficult and is very hard to work with. When asking clarifying things, she is usually rude and abrasive. She teaches the class as though it is NOT a GE, which makes it very difficult for those outside of the science department to do well in. Props for passion, thats it
I literally worked so hard to get a C! The most work Ive ever put in. There are 7 easy quizzes that come straight from the book. WEEKLY discussion that need to be a 350 word post and 350 reply! There are no exams BUT there are 5 essays. If you miss an essay you fail the course. Unclear grading criteria and shes mean. Worst Professor ever in life.
I wish I could give her 0 stars, she is probably the worst professor I have EVER had. She doesnt simple English because her clarifications make absolutely no sense. During a one on one zoom meeting to discuss an essay she assigned, she literally screamed at me. So disrespectful. DO NOT EVER TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS WOMAN AS THE PROFESSOR!!
Quizzes and Discussions were very easy. HOWEVER, she is a very tough grader when it comes to essays and is not clear AT ALL in what she wants in those essays. She never gave an A to mine or my peers essays, only high Bs. She also very stubborn. Trying to correct a mistake she made is like talking to a brick wall. She wont listen.
You can ace the discussion posts and quizzes very easily, but the essays are the toughest pieces of work I've ever done. She was unclear in her syllabus with what she expected, tried to fail me in the class in which admin got involved. Another professor talked with the communications board defending me against her teaching, and that speaks volumes.
I think that she has a good heart, and it's clear that she's passionate about Anthropology, but her essay style is so different that it's hard to meet her expectations for how she likes them written. This class is very heavy on essays and other written work. Get ready to write. But, if you can manage your time, you can pass this class.
She sucks dont take the class she makes something that could be really interesting just hell. She grades like were graduate students submitting a thesis. When in actuality were typing out 1400 word essays on how monkey smart class is a joke.
If you're looking to learn more about anthropology or primatology (for your major), Commitante is great. If you want to learn, Commitante is great. If you're looking for some easy GE credit, maybe think twice before taking her courses. If you're an Anth major, you need to take her classes if you want to succeed in the field.
Dont take this class :-)
Absolutely loved this class! There are only two things that go towards your grade: weekly quizzes and 3 essays. The weekly quizzes are super easy! She can be a tough grader for the essays, but if you put in the work and ask her for help with your essay, you can get an A! She also doesnt believe in cramming for tests so no final :)
This class feels more like an English class. We do discussions and quizzes every week and essays every month. She uses turnitin on essays, and if you get 30% she give you no grade at all. I didnt really learn anything from the class and I feel like she doesnt respect students as actual human beings. If you NEED to take this class, DONT!!!!!!!!!
A class has never caused me so much distress in my life. I thought essay writing was my strong suit, which is why I still signed up for this course despite all the reviews raging about her essay grading, but I have never regretted a decision more in my entire life. She is extremely passionate about anthropology, but doesn't grade like a GE prof.
This class is not graded or treated like a GE. While going over my essay with me she was very rude and ended up giving me a C which she stated was “good” DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I’m going to take screenshots of all these negative reviews and email the dean. This is seriously ridiculous and her teaching needs to be investigated.
Honestly, I think Commitante was a great professor. I think that anthropology is a hard class in general and she does everything she can to help people do well in the class. She definitely is not going to hold your hand through the course so if you need help, ask for it!
Strict Professor on attendance and devices. Listen, pay attention, do the work you will get a passing grade. Trust me she will be scaring during mandatory (1) conference. Just do the work and you will pass. No midterms, no exams and no final exam. Test are online but, quizlet are where the free answers are. And film towards the end. Simple class.
Tough grader with essays but there are no exams. The quizzes every week are made to give you a 100%. I did not get a single A on the essays but I still got an A in the class. As long as you can read directions and not have to be spoon fed information, you should be fine! She is actually a nice person and helpful as long as you do your part and ask.
quite possibly one of the worst professors ever! the papers are way too difficult given that it's just a ge class
Awful professor. Very boring lectures with mandatory atttendance. Essays were lengthy and shes a tough grader. Doesnt give good feedback either. HW quizzes every week that are easy because answers are online. Essay topics were easy tho, she just expects too much from a GE class.
I would only recommend taking this class if you applied for the Forensics certificate. This class was harder than my 400 level courses. The course consists of 2 exams, 3 essays, and attendance. Be sure to follow her directions for the essays. I did really well on the exams but the essays brought my grade down.
Easiest A+ I'll ever receive. The 3 papers are mandatory, if not completed you will automatically fail. She is a tough grader, average grade for papers were a D. As long as you come into class (she grades on attendance), complete your weekly quizzes, and put in a decent amount of effort for the research papers you will be fine.
Absolutely would not recommend this class if you are not an anthropology major. The class consists of three essays, which are insanely difficult seeing as you have to use sources from google scholar, meaning you cannot understand anything because they are extremely scientific. She is also a harsh grader when it comes to essays, rarely giving A's.
You have 3 papers that are mandatory. If you do not write one of the papers, you fail. That being said, the quizzes are easy A's, and attendance is easy. Anybody who fails this class just doesn't listen to her. Take it, it's easy.
Professor Commitante expects way too much out of an 100 level class. She acts like everyone is majoring in anthropology, most of us are just there for a GE. Attendance is mandatory, three essays that are VERY harshly graded and super time consuming, no tests. The final is a group project, but good luck, she wanted to give everyone 5 to 6/10.
Easy class if you can put in the effort to complete 3 different 1.3k+ word formal research essays in one semester. Very tough grader on essays and final group project. Weekly quizzes are easy points, it goes along with the textbook, answers are available online as well. Very boring lectures almost every class, no device usage allowed during class.
I don't get the hate tbh. There are 3 essays that are worth a big chunk of ur grade.Ppl say she isn't understanding about the essay deadlines-but she makes it VERY clear in the syllabus of her policies so can't rlly blame her since she literally tells u in advance. She is a strict grader but if u go to office hrs she'll help u get an A on the essay
If you have attention issues you do not take the class. Attendance is mandatory and it is always a lecture the entire class time. She does not allow you to take notes on the lectures with technology or with paper and pen. This class was dreadful.
