lectures are almost word to word with book. Gives simple examples in class but tests are super hard. Id suggest you take macro with another prof.
Raged is always clear about what he expects from his students. His lectures were interesting; however, it was hard to do well on his tests. Take this class only if you are passionate about macroeconomics, otherwise, it will be challenging. You have to be prepared to do online quizzes and to read your textbook in order to succeed.
Best prof I've ever had. His lectures are organized and to the point. There are online quizzes every week, but the workload is doable. Midterms and final are straightforward and the pretty much the same as sample tests given. Even some multiple choice questions are taken from those samples.
Hes a great professor and a very nice guy. He knows his Economics and always willing to help and answer q's. - Lectures are quite dry and boring, but manageable - Exams are tough, if you aren't familiar with the topics leading up to the exams, you won't pass. - Very approachable and always willing to go the extra mile to give you feedback and help
Excellent teacher, would highly recommend to others to take economics with this teacher. He works hard to make students understand the course content and provides an atmosphere were everyone wants to get involved. Tests are tough but he makes sure everyone is well prepared and covers all topics to be tested on.
Great prof! His midterms and finals are straight forward because there will be one question taken from the review sheet. In order to prepare well for the midterms and final, you should just do the questions on my econ lab and review and visit his office hours. However, I find his lectures boring. Overall, you should do well in his class.
Great prof. Little sense of humour but knows the subject matter incredibly well and is very straight forward about expectations. Tests are straight forward, largely short answer. Sharp dresser too!
This was my first time taking Econ, and let me tell you, he's amazing! Clear and right to the point. Exams are mostly short answer and multiple choice. He wants students to learn so he does a review at the beginning of class. Notes are given with some fill in the blank, and take extra notes if you are unclear. Attend class!
Best teacher just like a gentleman, clear explanation, wish I can take his 1220, but he doesn't teach that one next semester.
Great lecturer, explains everything very clearly and always recaps everything from previous class. His notes aren't the best so jot down some extra notes along with his pp slides. Tests are easy if you at least do the review, no trick questions. Spent only a little time studying. Would definitely take him again if I had the chance.
He's a great prof but no matter how hard I studied I couldn't grasp the concepts that were tested on in the 2nd midterm. As a result of that, I will have to repeat this course.
He is good but the topics are hard, and you must read and solve exercises out of class. If you miss a class, you can be in trouble in the midterms and finals.
He's the BEST Econ prof I have seen so far. Keeps the class very engaging and explains materials clearly. There were 2 midterms and a final. The structure of the exams were both multiple choice & short answer. Overall the materials are harder but the prof makes it easier. I would recommend anyone taking his class before leaving Langara.
he's very clear in his lectures and makes sure that the entire class is on the same page at all times
Genuinely willing to help out with any questions you may have. Understand his notes and review problems and you will do well for the midterms.
Raged gives very good lectures that are very informative. He can be a bit repetitive which results in you losing focus though.
Raged does a great job of keeping his lectures concise and engaging. Provides note handouts which I found to be very helpful used in conjunction with the textbook and my own notes. If you're going to take ECON at Langara, take it with Raged.
Great Instructor. The notes he gives are very helpful.
Raged is a good guy. Knowledgeable and clear with lectures. They can be a bit boring at times but make sure you pay attention and write down extra notes in addition to what he gives out. Easy to talk to in office hours. Good sense of style too.
His lectures break down heavy materials from the textbook and make it really easy to understand, and although his exams may seem hard at first, but it is actually all the basics. The one downside is that the text on the slides and notes are pretty small so it gets annoying sometimes.
He is such a nice guy! He makes time for you if you need his help and is very caring to his students. His lectures are very clear and he ensures that students understand the content. If you have to take econ take it with this guy!
take this professor at own risk
Anwar is pretty good. He has easy weekly assignments and he encourages students to ask questions and to come to his office if you need help. Lectures are pretty clear since he provides a strong example for each concept and he incorporates humour from time to time to help engage students. Two midterms, assignments, and a final.
By far the best prof I have had to teach me economics. His way of explaining is very clear and he writes lots of helpful notes. Take advantage of his office hours it will give you an extra boost to do well in this course. His exams are fair and he is not that hard of a marker. Overall he is a nice and respectful prof. Would take again
Raged is a great instructor. As long as you show up to class, don't play around on your phone and do the homework/study plan, you should have no issue pulling off a good grade. He has convenient times for office hours, so show up! I would suggest he posts his slides online in advance, writing on tiny slides is painful and tough to study from.
I think Raged knows his stuff, he's a good economics instructor. His notes are terrible. He prints off the tiniest slides that you can barely squeeze any information onto, and blows through his lectures way too fast. I would like it if he posted his slides online in advance so I could actually try to take some decent notes in his class.
Biggest mistake of my life is that I choose this instructor.
Very Good!
Very knowledgable and approachable professor! Professor Anwar is brilliant at simplifying new economic concepts and making them easy to learn. He will always allows students the opportunity to "discuss it with your neighbour" and brainstorm a solution before he reveals the answer to a question. Show up to class and participate and you will learn.
Raged was a great Prof! I feel like he actually wanted his students to succeed. His lectures were great, and as long as you come to class and take notes you'll do fine in this course. I just used the notes that he provided (you need to fill in the blanks), and did fine in the course. I would for sure take a course with him again.
Raged is definitely one of the nicest prof around Langara, easy to approach. Lectures are great but exams require you to read the chapters for a little. So do not slack on reading for sure. If you do, you will succeed in your tests and exam. One of my classmates went from 50% to perfect on final, and because his encouragement in class. Great prof.
One of the best prof at Langara. I definitely take his course again.
Probably one of the best professors Ive ever had at Langara. His lectures are very simple and hes easy to follow in the notes. The textbook helps but I honestly didnt use it the whole semester and did fine. The only difficult part about the course is that its graded by only the two midterms, final, and online assignments (10%).
Online quizzes 10%, Midterm 25%, Midterm 30%, and final 35%. The class average was about 50% for both midterms, but everything came straight from the lectures and book! Fair marker and lectures are straight forward. Personally, I would like to see more real life examples. Raged is very kind and says "in any case" every lecture, except the final
I hate my classmates but I love this man. He is one of the BEST professors I ever had in college PROS His lectures: clear, helpful, detailed His voice: warm (make u wanna listen to his whole lectures) He cares a lot about students & gives u chance to get bonus marks CONS His exams are difficult, very difficult. ADVICE Go to every class & take note
Raged is a total bro. He makes economics simple, and his lectures are fairly interesting (with his examples and open discussion). Easy to get an A if you read his notes & do the assignments. Average for the class will be low b/c of freshly grad high school students with bad study habits in a first year course. Highly recommend taking Econ with him
Raged is a great lecturer. His lectures are very well organized, and his explanations of microeconomic concepts are detailed but easy to understand. Although attendance is not mandatory, the lectures are essential to success in this course. He appears quite serious and rarely makes a joke, but he is very approachable and helpful in person. Awesome!
He is definely a good teacher. But if u want to get an a or higher grade, i suggest u dont take this class, because his test is unpredictable. Even u spend few days to study before the mt, it is hard for u to solve questions.
Midterms and exam are ridiculously long, in exams or midterms of other classes I have seen that many people are able to finish early but I have never seen anybody that had more than just enough time to finish Raged midterms/exam. Furthermore, he speaks in a low voice and that makes students easy to lose focus. I would never take his course again
Dull lectures and tough exams
Study hard and come to class
Raged is an extremely approachable professor. MTs and Finals were straight forward - no surprises. The key to success is to practice end of chapter questions that Raged does not assign for homework. Do not get discouraged if topics are not conceptualized earlier on in the class and ALWAYS draw timelines if needed to consolidate cash flows.
Failed my first exam but that was my own fault for not studying enough. Moved to the front of the class after that and payed attention better and saw him a couple times during office hours and voila, got 95% on the next midterm and 90% on the final.
Exams agent hard like some claim to be. Show up to class, pay attention and not talk with friends in middle of class and actually study and do your homework. If you do all that you shouldn't have a hard time on exams. This isn't high school where you get by, put some effort
This is a great class with a great prof. Lectures are extremely organized, and difficult content is thoroughly covered with lots of opportunity for students to give feedback, ask for clarification, or have the material presented in a different way. Powerpoints are posted online ahead of time, and all homework assignments are completed online.
With Econ, you need to put in more effort than other classes, so be sure to put in a couple extra hours studying.
100% you should have to attend every class and every articles he handed out. You can't finish your MT because it may be include the article he discussed on class. Moreover, somethings called "MT review" not cover everything in MT. At the end, you need to know all the knowledge from the TEXT BOOK to do the final. That's mean you are as good as him.
Lots of people complain how you need to attend his classes to pass. Hello? This is post secondary, not high school. You need to earn your grades, not slack off and get by. You literally need to put in effort to succeed in life. If you cant put effort in now, you won't ever in a real job.
Great lectures and exam questions just like homework or class examples but with different numbers.
Raged is a prof just like any other but in my honest opinion, he is better than many profs i've had. He makes class fun so even when i didn't want to go, i still went. his exams are a little difficult but i guess that's just the nature of the course. as a prof, raged is good and i actually can't think of any reason not to take him. amazinglectures
good prof! thumbs up
nice lectures
One of the better econ profs
he's by far one of the best econ profs!
Amazing man!
Great prof. Textbook isn't used in class but it's an excellent supplement to learning and always great to use for pre-reading. Do take him, as long as you study well (beyond the practice questions he offers), you'll do well.
Love him or hate him kind of proof but I loved him.
Raged is a great economics prof. He is very precise in his lectures, breaking down complex economic concepts into small digestible but accurate pieces. He is also very patient and encouraging with students who want to dig deeper into the material, often willing to stay behind after a night class that ends at 8:30 pm to answer questions. Top notch!
One of the best profs I've had in a subject that is not easy - he was very patient and explain things clearly and understandably. I've since transferred to UBC and I find myself using concepts I learned in his class all the time, being taught as new material. Thank you Raged for putting me ahead!!
Econ is a fairly difficult subject but Raged made it easy.
he speaks a lot but says a little, which makes students lose focus. Very arrogant individual
Was always intimidated by Econ until I had Raged. Great prof!
Loved him from start to end. Marked on 2 midterms and a final as well as weekly online assignments. As long as you shop up to class and take notes as well as do the assignments, you'll succeed.
Here's the deal with economics, no actually post secondary, no, actually LIFE: You can't slack off and expect to succeed. Everyone who complains how he's terrible are the ones who skip 50% of the classes thinking they can get by. It's not a difficult course if you show up and do your homework.
Such a great professor. Bad reviews just come from people who never show up to class and think they can get a good grade. Not his fault if you don't show up.
He is the first instructor that actually teaches you Economics. Truly the best if you can get into his classes
Nice guy but this class is really hard. His lectures were recorded last year and you just watch them yourself out of class so full tuition seems a little steep? 4 quizzes with only 10-15 questions, each worth 16% of your total grade aka pretty brutal on the GPA if econ doesn't come naturally to you.
He's created quizzes( 4 quizzes, worth 16%/each) on his own, and you have to ready to deeply understand everything in the lecture. there are no midterms, only quizzes and final(26%). the MCQ is hard and there are 8-9 MCQ and 1 or 2 short answers. The quizzes do not relate to his hw. I do not recommence
Raged is a great prof! His lecture videos provided a thorough explanation of the material and he is there to help when you have questions. Test/quizzes are challenging, but manageable. As long as you watch the lectures, read the textbook, and ask for help when you need it, you will be fine. I would definitely take a class with him in the future!
Raged is a great economics prof! The class was online, so he provided lecture videos which were very helpful and insightful. The exams, and the class in general, were quite challenging but not impossible. I would definitely take a class with him in the future!
You need to work a lot in his class. His exams are difficult and it is different from assignments. His multiple choice questions are long and he would give zero for one of your wrong answers, he doesn't give you a partial mark for other correct answers. I don't recommend to take his class.
You shouldn't take the class with him. All his assignments are different from the quizzes. He doesn't give chance for students to make up their marks. Avoid taking his class if you do not want to be struggling at the end of semester
His quizzes is long and you won't able to get a good grade from his quizzes or final. He is very tough grader, he challenging his students and in his quizzes there are no easy question for you take up mark for the hard question. Be aware with this professor.
This is the best ECON professor you can get at Langara. I've taken Economics 1220 and 1221 5 TIMES. YES 5. Every time I would fail miserably and not understand the very difficult concepts. Fortunately, Anwar is so clear in his explanations that he made economics easy. Just watch his lecture videos n go to class. If you want to pass ECON TAKE Raged!
Raged is awesome. If you need to take Economics, he's your guy. I recommend him over all the other professors at Langara. He's intelligent, kind, cute, and really great at explaining the concepts. I took his online course consisting of 3 Midterms each worth 20%, MyLab assignments worth 10%, and a final worth 30% which were spaced out really well.
Really fun lecturer, open to one on onr help, compassionate, good sense of humor.
online assignment, 3 quizzes, 1 midterm and 1 final, his tests are not difficult, but each MCQ worths 2 points (about 10% of the final score, which is a lot lol). The long questions are not difficult as long as you pay attention to the examples he gives in class. In general, he is a great teacher, who is willing to explain the concepts again!!

Would recommend Anwar 100%, he is a great prof. His lectures explain the content clearly, and he is always available to help students for a few minutes after class or during office hours. For exams, The SA and MC questions are straightforward and are based on concepts taught in class. Attend class, study the practice questions, you will do great!
Teach basic concepts in class but the homework and exams are way harder. Not accessible outside of class at all, the most you get is during class the 5 minutes break to ask questions, basically you are left rot and die. No grades were posted until final exam, slow giving any kind of marks back. Will not take him again.
Overall he is a good teacher, BUT he teaches very fast in class and barely gives you time to take notes on what he wrote.. What made me write this review is the INSANE amount of assignments that he gives. They are weekly and each assignment requires hours to do where even if you forgot to round up to the 2nd decimal place, you need to restart!
Anwar is a good professor all things considered. His lectures and notes in class honestly help a lot since he asked a lot of similar questions in his quizzes and tests. He is also very generous with his grading, he gave me a lot of points for my answers even when it was wrong, as long as you understand the materials and put that into the tests.
Raged is one of the best instructor, Just attend his classes and you will score more than average in midterms and finals
