She is a nice woman, who seems like she wants to teach. Unfortunately its impossible to pay attention for an entire lecture, there has never been a single class yet that everyone does not zone out at some point. The material is great, the ppts are amazing, she fails to make it intresting. No textbook, no hw, just study the ppt thoroughly
She's a really cute lady and can be funny without meaning to be. Her accent is easy to understand and she draws a lot of pictures for clarification. Most of the test material is from the pwpts but a few questions are from things she says in lecture. No textbook is required and neither is attendance. Her tests are fairly simple if you study a day b4
Nice and funny lady...the tests are for the most part straight from the ppts (she tells you that u don't need the book), however her drawings makes it much easier to understand. For instance a drawing may incorporate 2 pgs worth of slides-just easier to remember I guess. Overall, good prof, no complaints-also helps that she's easy on the eyes lol.
I took her for both physiology and endocrinology. Endo is the same difficulty as physio but without the lab to boost your grade. I never bothered showing up to class since I would just zone out anyway. If memorizing 150+ slides per exam is your idea of a good time, take this class. She also did a +4% curve for an attendance check one time... argh!
tests are straight from powerpoints. make sure you know EVERYTHING though. even small details. she gives a curve on each test. lab is 30% of grade and it was easy. took with anatomy- was a lot of work but stayed on similar subjects. samsam and ahangari's test fall on same day so be prepared to lock yourself in your room the weekend before a test
The material is not hard just extremely extensive and class is a bit pointless since it is hard to understand her, but she tested out of the powerpoints so invest more on knowing everything on those sometimes she is very specific on test
5 tests with no culmative final. She does curve each test individually depending on the performance of the class. I think her pictures were pointless & her exams come from the ppt slides. There are a few questions on each exam that are on specific things she said in class. U must KNOW EVERYTHING, EVERY little DETAIL. Tests were on lil details.
She's knowledgeable but cannot relay any information to the class what's so ever. Her test for both Physiology and Embryology are very difficult because they are on extremely tiny details that were maybe mentioned once in fine print on the slides.
English is her 4th language. Voice is like nails on a chalkboard. She draws tons of pictures you can't understand and reads directly from the slides, yet repeats the same sentence 6x and tells you to write it down. Going to class is pointless. Curves tests. Don't buy the book. If you study the powerpoints you'll do fine. Take anatomy first.
You are expected to know every frivolous detail from the ppts. Fails to really teach anything, she makes things more confusing the more she tries to explain. The drawings are pointless. Really an insult to University education
Horrible Teacher! Class is pointless. Do well on the first test and lab that's what saved my grade. I ended up with a B overall and I despise this woman.
Dr. Ahangari was really nice and I thought she explained the material well. Her tests are pretty hard and a lot of time must be taken to MEMORIZE the slides. Do well in the lab because its a good boost to your overall grade. I got an A in this class and it's definitely doable, but be prepared to work for it.
If you want to memorize a bunch of slides then take the class, her notes are very disorganized and going to class is pointless, you just strenuously memorize the 150 slides and get an A in the class.
By far the easiest pre-med professor at UCF. Her tests are STRAIGHT from the powerpoints, all you have to do is make sure you know, down to the details, all the powerpoints, and you will get an A. She also curves tests. I recommend taking all 3 of her classes, 3 easy A's!!! She is also really nice!!
Really nice. Loves to teach. Took for Physiology and Endocrinology. Helpful if she sees the effort. Class was a little hard, so read all the notes completely. Attendance is not mandatory, but determines amount of curve assigned. Book not needed, but good for clarification. Strong accent, speaks 4 languages, but English is good enough to understand.
The class is generally interesting, but you'll have to teach yourself. She goes though 30-40 slides a day and expects you to know minute details. If you're the type who is good at memorizing, you'll do fine. Otherwise, you'll be spending a lot of time learning to memorize.
This class was really interesting and not too difficult for an upper level class. Dr. Ahangari is very generous with the curves and even gave out extra credit because people did so bad on the first test. She really seemed to care about how well everyone was doing so that was nice. The book isn't needed but the pictures are very helpful.
I think a lot of people have the misconception that you have to simply memorize and "regurgitate" what is said on the powerpoints. It requires "understanding" for an A. The lab midterms were tricky! A combination of lab personnel not teaching the material on the midterms thoroughly and the fact the midterms are NOT well-written was frustrating!
Worst teacher i have ever had. you cannot understand a word she says, her exams are from the medical version of the book she doesnt use and from the boards. if you are pre med GREAT for you, but for over 80% of the class it was terrible. i wouldnt recommend this class or this professor to anyone!!
overall, class isn't that hard, just tons of memorization & comprehension of material. the only thing that saved me was the book. if you don't understand, read the book! lab midterm was ridiculously hard. going to class is kinda pointless, but sometimes she does say things in class that will be on the test, so u may wanna go to class. good luck! (:
Dr. Ahangari is very nice and understanding towards her students. Tests weren't too difficult and she curved a little. I also took her embryology class and thought that was way harder than endocrine. One of my fave profs at UCF!
Very nice and intelligent lady, sometimes difficult to understand. Class is challenging, but interesting. Do not take at the same time as anatomy; all the tests fall on the same days and it sucks. Lab is really fun, but the midterm is ridiculously hard. She curves her tests a little bit. Requires a lot of outside studying for good grades.
Tests were very straight forward...just memorize all 9 powerpoints for the test lol. She does curve each test a little. Class is pointless but if she gets pissed she'll test on things she only says in class. The lab is easy, do well bc its 30% of the entire grade...the midterm is very hard while the final isnt too bad! Overall, not that bad.
Dr. Ahangari is a very nice lady but a terrible teacher. I didn't even bother with class and I still made a high grade. Just studying everything in her powerpoints and you will be successful in her class.Attend her lectures if you want to be confused, bored, and wasting your time. She spends a lot of time making drawings that she doesn't put on test
straight forward class from ppts. some test questions are directly from textbook. nice lady easy class.
Took her for physio and embryo. Tests on small details in the powerpoints that she really doesn't go over in class. It's an interesting subject, but she doesn't go over enough in class for class to be worthwhile. Just study all the little details in the powerpoints, and it shouldn't be that bad. Difficult, but it's a 4000 level class. Nice lady!
Haven taken her for endocrinology & physio. Tests straight from the ppts...very easy if you know everything. Class is a bit pointless but during case studies she gives out x-tra credit! 4 tests with 1 of those test during finals week...but not cumulative. Great teacher, great class would always take for another class!
All the tests are straight from powerpoints, no need to buy the book unless you want a further explanation. Go to class, she clarifies alot during lecture and her drawings were very useful. She does have a monotone voice and can be boring and hard to hear, so sit close. Otherwise, medium difficulty class but very time consuming.
Very difficult to understand. Went to every class not sure why. Accent is strong, and talks fast. Her power points are extreamly helpful.
Dr. Ahangari is a very nice and knowledgable person; however, she is not the best lecturer, making class a little bit unnecessary. Her tests are difficult, but doable, and there is a lot of information to study. This is an in-depth human physiology class, and will be helpful in the future if you take the time to learn the material.
Took her for Physiology. If you have had Anatomy with Samsam and got an A, her class is very easy. Tests are very straight forward. Very interesting class! I enjoyed it.
her class is very similar to samsam's, I think that she is a great teacher but studying hard is required for her class if you want an A!
Take her! Lectures are pointless due to poor english but pre-med courses do not get any easier. Simple memorization of powerpoints with no tricky questions. Very caring and willing to bump borderline / curve tests. You get what you put in. Took her for human physio, endocrine, clim embryo.
This is a GREAT course if you are Pre-Medical. This definitely wasn't the easiest class, but the information is very very interesting. To obtain an A or B, this course requires alot of studying and hard-work. I enjoyed this class and passed it, you'll be fine. Just find some study partners and look at it everyday.
I didn't take PCB3703 with this professor, but I actually chose to take Endocrinology because I was already interested in the subject. Very clear explanations. Very good book. The prof made the class a lot of fun to attend - I was sad when the class ended. I plan on taking embryology with her later. GREAT CLASS FOR PRE-MEDS!! Highly recommended!
Good class and very interesting! It was pretty intense over the summer and at first I was overwhelmed by how much info we were expected to know. Don't stress though, I studied a couple of days before each test and ended up with an A. Do good in the lab, it helps boost your grade! She curves a little bit on each test.
I took all 3 classes taught by Dr Ahangari, and think that they are medium-difficult to difficult. You have to study VERY hard to get an A or a B. Tests are mainly from power points, but beware - she rarely asks basic questions. Whatever is most difficult and confusing on the slide is guaranteed to be on the exam. Overall I do recommend taking her.
This class was disastrous. It's an easy A if you can get your hands on one of the many "old exams" of hers floating around campus. But if you're not one to cheat, good luck deciphering her accent. Her powerpoints are "copy/paste" fragmented and nonsense sentences. Lab is the ONLY way you'll learn physiology. The TA's can teach. She can't.
This class is by no means an easy class. You have to be prepared to study every week and put in a lot of effort to really understand the material. However, an A is possible. And if you're planning to go into the medical field you will need to know this stuff anyway.
You're either an Anatomy person or a Physiology person. Don't listen when people say this is easier than Samsam's Anatomy! If you memorize well, like me, Anatomy will be easier. Physio you havr to understand full blown mechanisms. A in Samsams class, D thus far here! The class is pretty interesting though.
Physio: I absolutely loved this class and loved her. I've never learned so much in a class EVER. I took a really hard schedule on this semester, but I easily aced this class because I absolutely loved studying for it. People say attendance isn't mandatory because her tests come from her slides, but I highly disagree. Her explanations really helped.
Well to correct the post behind me this class wasn't the easiest class in the world. You really had to study. Some people can study the wkend & know everything. Others can't. I'm the latter. Study a week in advance, RECORD HER LECTURES, go to SI (it helps), & know the PPs. Don't buy the book. Do that & you'll be fine. I got an A. You can too.
To correct the post behind me, this class was not the easiest in the world. Some people can study the wkend and get an A on exams. Others can't. I'm the latter. Give yourself a week for each exam, know the PPs (UNDERSTAND THEM),RECORD HER LECTURES, go to SI (even if you don't want to). Do all this & you'll get an A. I did it this way & I got an A.
This class is difficult, no one will argue that. You have to study a lot and really know ALL the ppts. Test 3 is by far the hardest! She curves, enough to make my B an A (: The lab is kind of silly, but even the lab tests are hard. There's just so much to know! Dr. Ahangari knows everything though, and is always willing to repeat her explanations.
I got an A in anatomy, took this class w/ physics and chem and got an A in those and a B in her class... This class is rough, i suggest working your butt off for her lab midterm (go to the website watch the videos)because its pretty hard, and for her 3rd exam.. a B in lab will probably get you a B in the class; unless you ace all her exams
I love Dr. Ahangari, I dont know why her review are bad. Took her for all 3 classes and she explains things very well. Talks to you like youre a baby and tells you to actually write down everything she wants you to know. GOt an A in all 3 classes and theyre were very interesting. just study her ppts, notes, and clinical cases and u will get a A
Not a great lecturer but always willing to help. Just study the notes and clinical and it will be an A. The book goes way more in depth than needed but is great at explaining concepts that she can't
Professor Ahangari is very knowledgeable. GO TO CLASS! Write down everything she says is important. Understand all the notes, don't just memorize. GO TO SARC AND ALL TEST REVIEWS! THEY WILL SAVE YOUR GRADE! I got an A, so can you!
Excellent lecturer, she explains everything with clarity and make sure we all understand it. Just study the power points and pay more attention to clinical points (symptoms, treatments etc). I studied the weekends before tests and I did great. So can you :)
She has an accent but you get used to it. 5 tests, no drops, all MC. It is a hard class. I actually had to drop it but it is doable. But you have to try. There's a TON of information and you have to know it back and forth. She's helpful during office hours. You can skip lectures if you want, I think they're a little helpful though. Know the ppts.
Not hot. Not helpful at all. PowerPoint slides sometimes contradict each other. Test come from PP slides directly do attendance is not mandatory but you should still go for clarifications. She barely responds to emails. What else? Try to get another professor if you can!!!!!
I got an A in her class & in anatomy with Samsam. I found that her class was easier than samsam's. I recommend that you take anatomy first because she assumes that you took anatomy before her class(not at the same time b/c their tests are on the same days). For the tests make sure you memorize ALL the slides (esp. the diseases). An A is possible.
Hated this class. Hard to follow and did not learn much. Her powerpoint slides are disorganized and boring and she is extremely difficult to understand. Wish there had been another teacher because I love this subject, and I hate to be so blunt, but she is one of the worst teachers I've ever had.
This professor was HORRIBLE! She has an accent which makes in very hard to keep up and fully understand with ease. Also, her exams have questions fit for doctors as herself, or students already in med school, not undergrad level. Try taking another professor if possible!!!
Excellent class and professor. Up to this level, the test question will be very clinical-oriented.
She is definitely one of my favorite professors! She is such a sweet lady! Very helpful and cares about her students. Go to her office hours to get to know her and you probably will be able to get a letter of rec. I suggest going to class too because she gives extra notes verbally that are not in her notes.
Expect to never put your pencil down in class. She can skip around the slides but organize the info after class. Expect to learn a lot of very useful information and don't forget it. You'll be amazed at how much you know after taking this class. SI can be useful if you're confused.
Difficult class with a compassionate teacher. Teaches off of powerpoints. I never used the book. The material includes mechanisms and clinical applications. Go to SI and SARC. Study mechanisms as if they were steps to a reaction. Lab is more difficult since the tests are written by a different professor (usually Dr. Lopez). Lab work is fun though!
I don't know who hired these people to give this class a good review....HORRIBLE. If you want to keep your sanity, take this class elsewhere. She barely lectures Physiology....and then tests Pathology. Pretty sure she thought we were in med school already. Save yourselves!!!
Lectures extremely incongruent with exams. Largely a guessing game on exams 3 and 4; just hope shes not in a bad mood and decides to curve. Oh yes, and when the average is a 50%, "Class must study harder". Not sure entirely what we were supposed to be studying beyond the pathology and physiology BRS for med students + her notes, but hey w/e!
She's tough. However, what do you expect? If you're planning on going into medicine you need to challenge yourself. You don't deserve to be a doctor if you're searching for an "easy" professor
This class isn't the easiest, but also not the most difficult. It is very possible to do well in the class, I even have friends who got over 100's on most of her exams. She gives generous curves that allows the class average to be a "C". The labs can be tricky so study well. Its like other classes don't procrastinate.
First off, this class is in no way shape or form easy. No way. Go home if you think you can do whatever you want and get away with studying at the last minute. Like samsam, it is very time consuming, but if you put in the work, you will be fine. Very sweet lady, very nice and soft spoken, but she don't play around. An A is difficult, but possible..
Dr. Ahangari is a very good professor. She is incredibly sweet and will tell you word for word what you need to know on the tests. YES, this class is hard, but just spending an hour everyday re-reading notes makes it more manageable. The key to passing classes like these is time management.
Dr. ahangari is very sweet. My advice is to focus also on lab as if it's another class. Those little points every week add up bigtime!! For the lecture the first two exams are easy the last 3 you need the pathology BRS AND the physilogy BRS. Yes both. She will ask you questions from them. Other than that she is very kind, and you will like her.
This class was not that bad looking back. Lab becomes very tedious and annoying but is a significant part of your grade so take seriously. Test three was the hardest test being that what she taught wasn't what she tested which happens ALL THE TIME. The other 4 test were fairly easy for people who study. I wish someone else at UCF taught it.
Get the BRS 3rd edition. On her syllabus, it says she recommends this one more than the newer ones. Study this front to back, make sure you understand mechanisms she discusses in class, and study for lab since those little points will add up and either make or break your grade from being on a borderline A/B or B/C
This is not a class for the faint of heart. While many have said her husband's class is tougher, I actually found myself struggling much more with this Physio course. She's a sweet and all around helpful woman, but is extremely monotone, and is hard to understand. There's no incentive for going to class. Prepare to dive into your book for this one.
Dr. Ahangari really knows her stuff. She will give very detailed explanations and will repeat things if needed. Very helpful to see her in her office hours, she will take the time and give you helpful tips on how to study. The key is to GO TO CLASS, and at review the material she give you.
She is a great professor and she will repeat herself over and over again just to make sure students understand her. There's no reason why someone can't understand her. If you're not interested in medicine, you're going to hate this class.
Very hard class! Tim consuming but is you work hard you will get the grade you deserve. Lab was more difficult than lecture. Lab brought my grade from an A to a B! Exams are very situational and much like the format of Samsam's exams if you had him.
She is pretty hard to understand, but repeats herself every class after the first one. Before taking this class watch The Emperor's New Groove and you will see Yzma in the front of lecture teaching you.
This class is not as hard material wise as Samsam's anatomy. It is by no means an easy A. Getting a B is relatively easy if you put in a fair amount of time. Her curves are very generous on lecture exams. Go to the office and get to know her, she is incredibly caring. The lab will bring you down with 5Q that are impossible to get 100s on.
Her lectures are clear and to the point. Although she is a bit hard to understand its doable. 5 Tests, none cumulative got an A in lecture only studying notes and her powerpoints. Lab is your biggest worry, it was mine. It brought my grade from an A to a B so prepare. Test 3 was the hardest, so just a warning!
The class is difficult, but everyone knows this going in because it's difficult content. She's super generous with her curves and talks fast but is willing to repeat or slow down if you ask her to. My main tip is to go to class! She goes quick, so missing one class is a lot of missed info.
Dr Ahangari is such a caring prof, wants her students to learn & pass her class. I am not a big fan of the way she lectures (a lot of writing) could be a bit more interesting at time but you will learn a lot. U MUST ATTEND LECTURES! or get someones recordings. In terms of Lab, the exams are super hard and specific and sometimes not related to lect.
Tests are tough but it does get easier once you get the hang of it.. READ THE BRS PHYSIOLOGY BOOK, she usually gets 3-4 questions from it and it helps more than the power-points and go to lecture in order to understand the clinical questions on the exam. Good luck
Dr. Ahangari was by far one of my favorite professors of all time. She has an accent and although lecture isn't mandatory, DO NOT expect to pass class if you don't go. The tests are insanely difficult! Study lecture notes, outline the powerpoint slides and get 1-2 editions of the BRS for physiology because she uses old BRS practice problems too.
Makes you write a lot of notes, so attendance is mandatory unless you have someone recording the lectures for you. Tests are tough, but doable. Lab is the same, as long as you treat it like a class and study, you'll be fine. The average lab midterm grade was a 52, I received an 88. It just matters how much effort you'll put in.
Dr. Ahangari is a wonderful professor. You have to attend every class because she doesn't use the book so information is from her lectures. It is an interesting class and she explains things very well. She will talk until the very last minute so be prepared to write notes the entire time. LAB is much harder than lecture so do well to balance thelab
She has this je ne sais quoi that makes lecture more interesting that it would probably be other wise. She makes you work for your grade but is not unfair at all as everything in the test can be found in the powerpoints and if not then she will clearly state it in lecture which makes them kind of mandatory! shes there if you need help!
Her accent took a couple class meetings to adjust to, but she clearly knows what she is talking about. She was very willing to answer any questions students had and was never unable to answer the strange ones. The class content, while not super complex, required about 20-30 hours of studying per test to maintain a 98 average (with the curves).
Dr. Ahangari is kind, very helpful, and she wants you to succeed. She draws a lot in class and will repeat things if need be but you must put in the effort. Those who didn't like her are those who won't succeed in medical school. The clinical questions show you how much you understand the material. The lab should be treated as a separate class.
Overall, a pretty easy A. Took in the summer so material was a little fast-paced but definitely doable. As long as you study like you're supposed to, shouldn't be a problem. Generous with curves and extra credit. However, expect to get a little more questions wrong than expected because her answer keys are a little incorrect. Curves make up for it
Ahangari is an inspiration. I loved going to her lectures, and I learned A LOT. It does require studying. If you are in this class, you should not expect it to be an easy A. She really gives you a glimpse of what to expect in your possible future in the medical world. Tests are HARD, so is lab. I would take her again though :)
If you have time to read the text before lecture, do so. If not, preview the slides and focus your study time there. If you are pre-med and this course is not required for your degree, either don't take it with Dr. Ahangari or take it after you've already received an acceptance letter.
This is a very hard class. You have to truly study a lot. Read the brs (edition she specifies), powerpoints, and take good notes. Study lab PowerPoints also, the quizzes are hard. She teaches this subject extremely well, she will repeat things one hundred times if needed. She draws pictures and they greatly help in understanding the info.
She is very likable, and also quite helpful when you go to her office hours. I love her lectures and clinicals. DO NOT GET THE REQUIRED TEXT. Get the BRS, the supplemental text. Sometimes she bases her lectures on it + the review questions in it really help. Be sure to Study the surrounding details not mentioned in lecture, but stated in the text.
She was a great professor, but very difficult. She makes you work for good grades, but is still very generous with curves. Do not buy the textbook, buy the BRS she recommends. You must attend every lecture and write down everything she says. She lectures fast, but will repeat anything. I got an A studying the BRS questions and her lecture notes/PP.
This is not a easy class. There are 5 lecture exams and 2 exams for lab. The lab has reports and quizzes that are worth 10 pts each. The lab portion of the class isn't difficult. it is worth 35% of the class . The lecture portion is 65%. Get ready to read and take A LOT of notes. Make sure you come to lecture! Must get the BRS!
She's a great professor, very smart and approachable. She can be hard to understand at times during lecture so make sure you're always paying attention, and if you miss something she says she will repeat it. Her tests are tough because she makes you apply concepts to clinical examples. You have to really know the material to get questions right!
I enjoyed the class and thought she taught it well. If you want to slack or don't really care you will do badly. Study, SI, and the book will help with this class.
I took Samsam's class before this one and did extremely well. I studied hard but still passed with a high A. Ahangari is rude, has no respect or care for her students at all, and is not a good teacher. After each test I would go to her office hours and ask to review my test and she would not allow me to do so. AVOID HER CLASS IF YOU CAN!
She's extremely knowledgable and intelligent. Her accent isn't tough, you just have to listen very intently. Focus on exam 3, it's the toughest. She's not a friendly, approachable person and when I went to her office hours, she was rather short and a little rude. Overall, a good professor; focus on the BRS and pathology book for lecture 3-5.
Worst professor she isn't clear about what she wants you to know for the exam. she has a thick accent, recording her lecture was never helpful. she isn't very approachable, and would judges. she curves a lot!!! that tells you about how bad the class is doing. the averge on exams are always 50 so she curves to make her self look like a good teacher.
This class was tough. I found samsams's anatomy class easier than this. Read the required text along with BRS & power points/lecture material. Always count on at least a overall 10% curve at the end of the semester. Tests will have questions that were never discussed in class or in text. STUDY IN ADVANCE. Get an A in lab to boost your grade.
Ahangeri's class is not something that you can slack off. I worked my butt off for my grade, and I almost cried that I was borderline for it. If you ask her for help, she's more than welcome to help you. Her voice, at first, can be very seductive (LOL). She can lecture like reading off a textbook, but overall is so brilliant. Hard class, but doable
Class isn't too difficult. The first two exams are very easy(Just memorize the powerpoints and the BRS). Exams 3-5 are much harder and come from powerpoints, lectures, BRS, and the pathology book. Lots of clinical in the last three exams. I got over a 100 on the first two exams and then my grade went down on each exam. Lab is easier than people say
She is clearly very passionate about the class and extremely knowledgeable. That being said the class is very hard. Take anatomy first, go to SI, get the BRS (Free pdf). Lab is brutal, quizzes/midterm/final hard. You will study for hours and still have trouble on the tests. Avg on tests was always 50-55%. About 10% curve at end plus lab.
Ahangari is a good professor, but be prepared to write an entire book, and several novellas. The BRS is essential, as quite a few exam questions come from there, go over power points and listen during lecture and you'll be fine.
Extremely difficult class! I got As on Exams 1-2, then my grade went down after Exams 3-5. Like where did the clinical questions come from? lol You need her ppts and BRS to succeed. I did not get the Pathology book (maybe I would have done better). Also, expect lab to bring your grade down. -_-
Dr. Raheleh Ahangari is the best professor. An A is very achievable if you can manage raw A's on the first 2 exams. Lab is not as tough as lecture. Both require effort. She cares about student and is very approachable. Don't be discouraged by a bad exam, you can redeem yourself. What is req for an A? Record her lectures, listen and take good notes
Dr Ahangari's Physio class is very tough to say the least. Do not procrastinate. The textbook is not necessary, but the recommended BRS is. Her tests did not reflect the lecture content so be prepared. Study for the lab quizzes to help boost your average. Never studied so hard for a B.
Great professor! She can't help it that she is teaching the hardest subject. It is taking everything I have to maintain a C average in her class, but it has nothing to do with her teaching skills. It's just a difficult class. You'll learn to get over it eventually.
GO TO CLASS. RECORD LECTURE. REWRITE NOTES WHILE LISTENING BACK TO RECORDING. That is the recipe for an A. Ahangari is truly a UCF treasure she really awesome & is very smart. She reminds me of a bougie old hispanic lady (i.e. never on time, never replies to emails, classy) but super smart. Lab was crap & petty. Get A's raw 1st 2 test & youre good!
GO TO EVERY CLASS. Record lecture. Draw the pictures she does. Take notes as you listen to recording later & write down literally everything she says! BRS Physio & Patho books are a must for Exams 3-5 (clinical heavy). Get off to a strong start with Exams 1-2 (much easier). Lab is annoying but doable & worth 35% of grade. Lecture + BRS + PPTs A
Awful teacher, speaks fast, with a heavy accent. She is all over the place. I am retaking class with david flory at the kissimee ucf campus, because she destroyed me (and i am a straight A student) worst experience ever
Very good professor. Does a good job explaining ideas that might be tough in an easier ways so the students don't feel as intimidated about the depth of the material. In-class drawings help explain difficult concepts on a basic level. Good sense of humor. Goes fast during lecture. Be prepared to write a lot. Don't buy textbook!! You won't use it.
This is what you need to do to succeed in this class 1 get the BRS AND pathology BRS, you do not use the textbook, don't buy it 2 Record Lecture, listen, revise notes 3 Go to SI so you can actually understand what was taught in lecture 4 Test 3-5 are the hardest, be prepared for clinical questions
Dr. Ahangari's class is nothing compared to Samsam. I probably could have gotten an A if I didn't take other hard classes with this one. The lab ACTUALLY helps your grade in this class. She is reasonable with her curves. I succeeded by combining lecture notes and her powerpoints into a notebook and studying that along with questions from the BRS
She is an awesome teacher, but she talks really fast with an accent so I recommend recording her lectures. The textbook is unnecessary, only get the physiology and pathology brs, she occasionally uses the review questions at the end of the unit. To get an A, study powerpoints, brs, and lecture notes. Lab was crap and disorganized as hell but doable
This is a class where actually understanding the material will help you pass the tests, not simply just memorizing like her husband's anatomy class. As she says, "if you understand the physiology you can make a quick diagnosis on a patient." Study ppts religiously for tests 1 and 2. 3-5 are clinical heavy and hard. She's a darling and gives curves
Her lectures are amazing, but the tests can be a bit hard. She does have an accent, and her lectures can be a bit fast paced but, the class is very interesting.
So many people say to write down everything she says and forget the main textbook, I disagree. I almost never went to lecture and got an A. I read the textbook, her slides, and the questions at the end of the BRS. Read the actual textbook. Ignore those that say otherwise. If you struggle, go to lecture, but skilled self learners can do without.
I think an A in this class is very doable. Her lectures are interesting to attend for knowing things in medical school and beyond but they aren't necessary to pass this class. I just went to lab. Read the lab and class textbooks, the Brs and I was fine. Seems disorganized in her thoughts. VERY BRILLIANT. big curves 4 this class
Ahangari has been my favorite professor at UCF. She has an accent but she is still very clear. She genuinely wants her students to learn the material and puts a lot of time and effort into accomplishing that. She's always available for extra help if needed. It is content heavy but she is one of the best lecturers. Highly recommend!
The key to this class is to STUDY the powerpoints and the class notes every week! Take good class notes, and if not present in class get them from somebody else! She does a lot of helpful drawings in order to better understand some of the systems, study these! Also go to the SI meetings, do the reviews! Dr. Ahangari is a very knowledgeable woman!
Class wasn't as bad as people made it seem. The lab was too much for 1 credit at times, however, Ahangari is an amazing lecturer and a true gem at UCF. Also DO HUNTERS REVIEWS! THEY ARE AMAZING, AND HES AWESOME AND SAVED MY GRADE. Exam 3 was the hardest by far!
Not a bad class as people make it, just material that is uncomfortable to learn (Like anatomy, orgo). Professor gives VERY generous curves and teaches VERY well. New lab is still bad (harsh grading, tricky quizzes). Overall decent class. Very easy to pull an A with some work. Will 100% you for MCAT + Med school.
Ahangari is by far one of the best professors at UCF. The material is a lot and her tests are challenging but she teaches you what you need to know and is always willing to answer any questions. Study every week, use the BRS and go to her office hours if you need the additional help!
Really cares about her students. Gives really good curves 10%+. Always available after class. Attend lecture or you won't pass. If you attend lecture then all you really need to study are the lecture notes to pass the exam and then you get her huge curves on top of that. Would definitely take again.
Professor Ahangari is Amazing she genuinely want everyone to get an A and it's very doable. Only thing I didn't like is the fact that they now have a new Lab instructor and her quiz/exam questions are worded in a confusing way. I argued multiple times on missed questions and got credit back. really only thing to watch for is lab exam. good luck
Heavy accent. The exams are really hard but she puts a 20+ point curve on everything so its not impossible to get an A. Lab was difficult but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting based off these reviews.
Lot of memorization. Cool info, don't actually need BRS. Just Lecture + Powerpoint.
I love this teacher! Her class is not as scary as everyone makes it seem. She's really nice and caring. As long as you copy down whatever she says in class word for word and read these notes several times before the exam, you're good. You didn't need the textbook at all. Powerpoints are good as extra study material.
Ahangari is super sweet! She wants all her students to pass, and even gives some example questions for each exam. Her accent was kind of hard to understand in the beginning, but I love her teaching style. She makes it really enjoyable, and easy to learn Physiology. Get ready to work for this class, like anything else in the med field.
great Professor, I would take her again.
EASY MONEY MAN. Dr. Ahangari is a great professor and will make physiology understandable. The trick to getting an A in the class is reading the power points cause her tests come straight from them, also listening to what she says in lecture because the added information she talks about is also on the exams. The lab though thats another story
Most of her tests were off her lectures, powerpoints, and the BRS. Do not waste your money on the other book. She cares about her students and their success. I want to take her for Endocrine.
Ahangari is so sweet! This is my first class with her, and embryology was extremely interesting. Go to class, take good notes and study the powerpoints, and you will do great on the tests! She gives great curves and really wants to help students. It is definitely a doable elective with a hard schedule! There's only 4 exams so make sure you study!
Dr. Ahangari is the sweetest, she really cares about her students and knows physiology so well. I recommend going to her lectures because she basically says whats on the exam. You don't need the book, just powerpoints and BRS. I didn't like lab at all, lab was unnecessarily difficult and brought a lot of people's grades down.
Dr. Ahangari is AMAZING. She really cares about her students. Medicine is SO SO easy. Definitely one of the professors I'll miss. She's got a thick accent but when you go back and relisten to the lectures, it's a little easier. Write down EVERY word she says. Don't bother with the textbook but get your hands on a BRS. Q's come from back of book.
Dr. Ahangari is supppper sweet! Go to class and take note of everything she says. Don't need the textbooks; I just studied from her lec notes and ppt and I got A's on the exams. Gives 10-15% EC on each exam. I think lab was more difficult than lecture..8 labs 8 quizzes and 3 exams. Not too hard just make sure to study at least a wk in advance
This class is totally passable. Honestly, go to class, type every word she says, study it and study the powerpoints. She is very fair when it comes to her tests. She gives a 15-20% curve on every test. Lab can be tricky for some, but easy for others. Just study from day 1.
This class requires a lot of study time with the overwhelming amount of material. But, it is very doable if you put in the work. Dr. Ahangari is very sweet and loves her students. I loved her accent but she tends to talk very fast. I recommend bringing a laptop and typing verse trying to write everything down. Study a little every day!!
She's like a forrest nymph. So calm, serene, heavenly, kind, and generous. We are all her children, and she passes us her fruits of knowledge. Be sure to read the BRS, and attend class. I loved every bit of this class.
I love ahangari. I've taken all of her classes and it seems like Physio is her hardest, Embryo is alright, and Endo was easy A. This is a typical Ahangari class, you go to class and she tells you what you need to know. She puts pictures on her exams for this class so know the disorders (cause, what it physically looks like, and treatment) and BRS.
Ahangari... is a terrible lecturer. All she does is read her Samsam style ppts with her lilting accent and repeat key phrases until you're lulled off to sleep. Prepare to work your derrière off over the summer for an A. BUY BOTH OF COSTANZO'S BOOKS (BRS and Physiology textbook) and you'll be peachy! Also, study pathologies till you drop.
I love Dr. Ahangari!! I recently just took this during Summer A and it was DIFFICULT however the material is straight forward and definitely not impossible. Don't bother with the TB since everything you need to pass is from her PP & lectures. BUY THE BRS!! Study the Q's at the end of each chapter!! Exams only get harder but she curves them.
My experience with Ahangari was overall alright. She was test heavy, a tough grader, and lecture heavy. Towards the end I needed her but she wasn't there. Sort of like the story of Lebron and the rest of the cavaliers. Just an analogy for the sport fans. #LAbron
Is the class difficult? Yes. Probably the hardest part was interpreting her accent. IMO the tests get harder as you go. But the class is interesting. She curves between 10-15 percent on every exam. Lab wasn't bad either, it can easily boost your grade. Buy the BRS and pay attention during lecture, never even got the textbook
She is a good teacher. she has an accent so i would suggest recording the lectures so you can re listen at your own pace. Its not a hard class if you study just a little everyday, and try to understand the concepts, instead of just memorizing. She also curves 10-15% on every single test.
Shes so nice and friendly, but the course is a lot of info so study OFTEN. I studied her notes from class and got A's on exams (before curve). Record lectures cus she talks fast and has thick accent. Theres always a few questions on her exams about info we NEVER covered so beware (same goes for Lab).
This is a serious class. Be prepared to attend lecture, take notes, and study thoroughly. She is generous with curves, but her exams are quite difficult, and there are only a handful.
5 lecture tests, 3 lab exam, lab quizzes & reports is all you're graded on. Be prepared to study a lot, a ton of material on tests. Her accent is hard to understand during lecture, but lecture material is important. She's sweet, and gives about a 10% curve. This class is very difficult, and lab isn't too interesting. TA's were cool. Hate lab quizs
Struggled in the beginning(would get under 50%). Drop week I went to office hours asking what to do and she convinced me to stay. Ever since then I attended both class lectures & saw her in office hours twice a week. She would quiz me and make sure I knew the material. I ended up getting a 94% on the final. Almost brought my grade from low D to B
Ahangari is very sweet and extremely brilliant but her class was tough and keeping an A was an uphill battle. The information is essentially medical school level info and is vast. Go to class and study and most can pull a B with the curves she gives.
Go to class and take notes. Study the powerpoints. You will at least get a B in the class. The curves will save you.
The content is easier than samsam, but with less of a curve its still hard. There is about a 10% curve. She has a thick accent and talks very fast so go to every class and record it. Lab sucks, definitely do the reports before class and study for the quizzes, they bite. I passed, but it wasn't easy, you have to work.
I truly thought Dr. Ahangari was an amazing professor. She told us exactly what to write and what would be on the exams. The lab however was honestly awful. It is so much harder than it needs to be. The lecture is very interesting and I think Ahangari is a great lecturer. She truly cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed.
She is a very sweet woman and a very good teacher. Her accent honestly isn't that bad other than some mumbling. I honestly didn't use the textbook at all and was fine. Just show up and take notes. She allows voice recording as well. Lab was okay but felt a bit superfluous especially with the exams being hard. Lecture exams honestly can save you.
Love, love, love Professor Ahangari! Super sweet and is very fashionable. Her accent is not bad at all, and you get used to it fairly quickly. BRS and textbook are not necessary and are more in-depth than she goes. As long as you go to class, take notes and study a little every day there is no reason why you shouldn't pass - with the curve too!
Great professor and cares about her students. Go to lectures and study and know everything she says in class and you will get A's on exams.
Solid professor, her lecture style is enjoyable, however her tests seem impossible. Make sure to score the best on the first and last exams, the ones in between will be a nightmare. If you can get at least a 65-70 in lecture and an 80-90 in lab, with the curve you can definitely come out with a B. Overall hard class, but the curve makes it fair.
A very great lecture who really emphasizes what you need to understand especially when it comes to processes. Really try on 1st and last exams because those are the easiest. Cardiovascular and GI tract will haunt you in your sleep so be prepared. Not impossible, but incredibly tough and time intensive. Shes also very generous with curves.
There are only 5 exams that make up your grade for lecture. Make sure to really pay attention in class and read her powerpoints like crazy! Could definitely be an easy A. I, however, am at a B as of right now. Definitely study as much as possible. Labs are calculated into grade so do very well in lab. She is very sweet and has a bit of an accent
I enjoyed Physio it is MUCH easier and more interesting than Anatomy in my opinion. However, you STILL have to STUDY! Her exams can be tricky and you need to put in the effort to pass. Study for lab exams with Worley, I found lab slightly harder than lecture exams. Manage your time so you don't get overwhelmed. Quiz every day in lab so must attend.
She didn't seem to be there for us as students. She didn't respond to emails, always sent things last minute, and never even addressed issues that we were going to have as a whole class. She doesn't seem like a bad person but I feel like she kind of left us in the dark during an already stressful time.
Ahangari is a very intellectual professor. Her knowledge and understanding of physiology is amazing. She really tries her best to make sure all her students are understanding the material. I only used the powerpoints to study and managed to end the semester with a B. But if you don't show up to lecture, it is unlikely you will be able to do well.
Dr. Ahangari is amazing. Class was 4 total exams, thats it for your grade. Thats the big downside. She does curve her exams however, usually 5-10% each exam. Her exams are straight from what she says in class, if you dont go you wont pass.
Not a good test taker? Don't bother with Ahangari. Physiology is classically hard and this professor doesn't help to make it easier. No study guides, no extra assignments to bring your grade up, but some tests are curved by 3%-5%. Test material comes from the powerpoints which are very wordy, and her lectures are hard to listen to... "um" "uh" x100
DO NOT TAKE. I have never cried as much over a class as I have for this one. Not only is physiology normally a relatively difficult class, Dr. Ahangari makes your life 100 times more stressful. You cannot understand a single thing she says in her recorded lectures and she does NO zoom reviews for the class. I am an A student & im failing this class
Honestly an awful instructor. Lectures are prerecorded and incredibly disorganized, skips over so much in the lecture slides. The lecture slides are long and contain mostly just paragraphs. Her exams are incredibly difficult and cover specific things she might mention once in a lecture. Dont take her class, barely a curve, exams are the only grade
I have taken my fair share of online classes with not so great teachers but I have never struggled this hard. The class is lecture heavy but she doesn't even teach in them. AND on top of that the exams questions are way too specified and confusing. Also there was zero exam review prep until we got to the midterm. Withdrew to save my grade.
Powerpoints are wordy and unclear, her lectures, in general, are hard to follow. You never know what will be on the exams, because she skips about 50% of the slides in her lectures but they still appear in the test. Very, very frustrating class to be in. Doesn't really show any care for her students or any desire for them/us to succeed.
Maybe she better in person but taking her online was bad for me. She only has powerpoints and she skims through them pretty fast. She seems nice but I wish there more study materials. But if u study early and read the PowerPoint, u may able to pass the class.
I feel like this class would probably have been a lot easier in person. The only materials given was a PowerPoint recording. She talks very quickly on the recording and skips a lot of content when going through the PowerPoint. She will say uh and then just skip to the next slide.
Do not take her over COVID! Her recorded lectures are awful. She says to study from the powerpoints then puts questions on the tests that weren't in the powerpoints or lecture. Her tests take days, maybe weeks, to study for and I still failed. She focuses on the tiniest details instead of main concepts and processes. Hardest class I've ever taken.
Im no genius, but I do love anything related to medicine/human body so that made it easier. She curved heavy on a few exams + offered an EC assignment. Her recordings were super straightforward, which I used as a guide for what to focus on for exams and then I thoroughly read her powerpoints. Studied maybe 2-3 days before exams and did fine.
you dont need the textbook. you NEED to listen to lectures but they're HORRIBLE (you cant understand bc of her accent). I suggest using a translation app. Tests are decent (first & last are the easiest). The test questions come from a mix of lecture, powerpoints, & from thin air. No zoom so you work on your own time but tests every 3 weeks. No HW
Very interesting class! This professor provides everything you need to know in her powerpoints, they are pretty lengthy however. Her powerpoints include a lot of information, but does explain it in a lot of detail. Studying for a good amount of time before the exams will really help! Provided a lot of extra credit which helped grade so much!
Lectures and power points are provided. Lectures tend to be unclear and power points are very long. Study at least a week in advanced for exams. Study by reading the power points over and over until you memorize and understand them. Exams are challenging but mostly from the power points. Gives decent curves to all exams which really helps.
This is the worst online class I've ever taken. Her lectures are choppy and hard to understand and the powerpoints are basically an information dump with no real purpose. The only saving grace for this class are the TAs and curves for each test because it seems like the other students aren't doing too well either.
Lectures are horrible so hard to understand her and her tests have nothing to do with what she goes over in the powerpoints. I don't even know if I will pass her class due to how difficult her tests are and it seems to be that many people are not doing well in her class. Only 4 tests no homework or quizzes to help your grade.
Lectures are fairly difficult to understand. Ahangari tends to get ahead and teach completely different 5 topics on a single slide that has nothing to do with that material, and then skips all of the corresponding slides. However, she gives amazing and generous curves. Definitely had to teach myself a good amount of the material.
Dr. Ahangari seems very knowledgeable about physiology, but we have no contact with her whatsoever throughout the semester besides office hours. All lectures were pre-recorded and are super hard to understand. She also skips over some info in recordings. Tests are super specific - you need to have a photographic memory of every powerpoint to pass
The lecture aspect of this class is strictly exams. There's no homework. She skims through her lecture recordings and cuts herself off so they barely teach you anything. She's hard to understand b/c of her accent. SARC & SI are barely any help either. I've passed all my science classes except this one! She does curve some exams though!
Don't bother with lecture recordings; thick accent makes it hard to understand. Barely in contact with the class. Class is graded by 5 tests (sometimes curved), no EC, and like 30% of final grade is the lab. I think I learned more in lab than lecture. A lot of material per test.
Absolute garbage professor, not only can you not understand her you also wont sleep with how hard the tests are. She doesnt know how to teach and then expects her students to do well. DONT TAKE HER!! SAVE YOUR GPA!
Memorize the powerpoints and hope for the best.
Dr. Ahangari is a sweet professor. With that being said, her lectures are pretty awful. Prepare to teach yourself most of the content from the powerpoints she makes. The textbook is a decent supplement and has some fun, helpful practice exam questions. The exams are very fair if you study and she curves a couple of them by a lot. Be self-motivated.
5 Exams make up the entire grade but her curves were magical. Lectures are a lot but just pay attention to her lecture videos, a lot of exam material is covered. Exams were manageable and not too bad.
For taking it online, you basically watch her lectures and memorize the powerpoints. I studied about 2 weeks prior to each exam and scored As with curves. Her curves are very generous and if you aren't able to do well with her curves, then that's on you. She was a good professor and it's a doable class.
Terrible lectures, hard to follow, messy. Gives a curve but is it enough to set students up for success when they fail your exams or don't learn anything bc it's all rote memorization? Don't take if you actually want to learn.
Be prepared to teach yourself if you're taking this class online. She only grades off of tests and you basically have to memorize the PowerPoint.
Took Human Physiology for Summer B as a nursing prerequisite. Dr. Ahanghari seems sweet but the class learned absolutely nothing. You basically have to read and recite her endlessly wordy PowerPoints, because her lectures are choppy and difficult to understand. She curved all three exams because the averages were awful. Good luck, youll need it!
I didnt like this class at all so Im happy I took it in 6 weeks to get it over with. While I will say the information she gave us is important shes AWFUL at teaching it. Her lectures were choppy and I ended up having to make quizlets to get the information to stick in my head. I got an A but it was at the cost of my mental health.
Use slides & her voiceover only. Can be hard to understand. Curves make an A possible(usually 10-15%). Lab is clear but you have to study; can get A inlab w/work. Interesting class but lots of info that isn't tested. Good class to take but don't expect to have someone hold your hand through it or explain things extra. No live sessions only records.
Has PowerPoints that are not put together well & in lecture she explains the powerpoints but it is very hard to understand her due to language barrier. Grade is based off of 5 lecture exams but there are high curves. Physiology is a lot of information and you have to study hard to be able to pass due to no open note and exams on tons of info.
Powerpoint slides were the main point of info and everything on the exams were taken directly from there. 5 exams are the only grades for the class. Just read and understand the powerpoints and you'll be good
I stopped attending her in person lectures about halfway through the semester because I wasn't learning anything from her that I couldn't teach myself. Her accent can be very difficult to understand and she was never clear about what info was important for the tests. The class is difficult because it is only exams. Don't get the textbook.
Most brutal class of my pre-nursing career. Her live-lectures aren't helpful. Stick to the pre-recorded ones for info. Also slides should be your priority for studying. You need to know all the material on the slides + a little bit of lecture + a little bit of the BRS. Good luck.
She does do extra credit; However, that is to make up for the fact that her exams are very difficult. Her exams are based solely on a couple of slides within the PowerPoint rather than main ideas. I went to lectures but it is totally not necessary. I would definitely recommend going over the PowerPoints before the exams.
This class overall wasn't bad since she curves a grade higher. The exams are extremely difficult and sometimes on things she never talked about. I stopped going to lecture once I realized it wasn't helpful at all. If you can get the BRS book she recommends she sometimes pulls the same exact questions on the exam from there.
Dr. Ahangari is very sweet and you can tell that she cares about her students. The main difficulty I had was understanding her thick accent, and her lectures are very scattered. Expect to teach yourself most of the material from the book and use the lectures as more of a review. She curves like crazy though which was nice.
5 exams worth 65% of grade, lab is 35%. All exams based on ppts - memorize every small detail on these ppts and you will be good. Her ppts are unfortunately word vomit, but relatively straight forwrad class. She asks some questions from the BRS (additional optional textbook she wants you to get), so study those too. Gives hella extra credit points
I had a hard time learning anything from lectures and I stopped attending. I ended up having to teach myself basically everything because her recorded lectures did not help at all either. Her exams were awful up until the last one. In order to do well, you have to memorize the PowerPoint slides. However, she did curve and give some extra credit.
Professor Ahangari was awesome, don't listen to any negative comments! 65% lecture and 35% lab with Worley (who is also fantastic although the lab exams can be tough.) Her exams are ALL PowerPoints with a few additional points she covers in actual lecture. She posts pre-recordings and provides curves (5-10%) and extra credit assignments as well.
Pr. H is an awful professor, I stopped attending lectures after 2 classes. She's horrible@ teaching. her recorded lectures r her reading the pp. She NEVER answers her emails, I learned everything from the books /memoriza by using her study gu. But she has topics that she doesn't even cover in tests. 5 exams total=your grade. the curves DO NOT HELP.
Best professor I've ever had. You only need to study her PowerPoints to pass with an A. Really easy class. You don't even need the book, and you don't even need to attend to class.
best professor for human physiology, gives a lot of extra credit
Avoid this professor if possible. 5 exams worth 65% of grade, lab is 35%. The lecture exams are impossible and ask questions on minute details. Going to lecture is pointless. Lab is interesting but the exams in there are extremely difficult as well. Gives extra credit but it doesn't help very much.
Don't need to attend lectures & you dont want to either. Just read her powerpoints and the chapters from the book and you'll do fine. Tests are online using proctorhub. Lab section (with melissa worely) is easy to do well in if you prepare well for the exams and show up on time, so it can definitely boost your grade.
Took her before COVID-19, now I'm in medical school and remember literally everything she taught! The class is hard and requires a good amount of studying. She's extremely knowledable and helpful outside of lecture. Honestly her lectures were very captivating and she organizes the material to help you learn it efficiently.
Took this class summer of 22, we received no emails updates or anything. I attended one class and was done. Three exams all summer and no homework.
Lecture powerpoints are extremely chunky and information-heavy. I personally stopped attending the lectures after the first week, as she went through the slides too quickly and I found her difficult to understand. I spent the entire semester anxious about my grades, as she didn't send out announcements or communicate effectively.
Her ppts are just word vomit and she barely communicated with the class but curved very generously in the end. I did not attend lecture as it confused me even more honestly. Memorize ppts and you should be straight.
Took it in summer B. It was pretty fast, wouldnt do it again. Was nice, cared, and taught well just a lil hard to understand. Class was structurally one the most confusing Ive taken. Not much info on syllabus or any emails/announcements from her. Had bonus questions on test. Definitely gave extra credit cause my B turned to an A at end of semester.
Took this class during Summer B and it was hard. No communication the whole semester and lectures were not helpful as Dr. Ahangari went extremely fast and was disorganized. Just memorize the PPTs and look at the BRS questions the SARC/ SI people have because they are on the test. She did curve a lot at the end of the semester.
She needs to be send back to 5th grade because she has the grammar of a 10 year old. The grammar is so bad that you can't even figure out what the slides are saying. The slides are just a bunch of random sentences that have no correlation with each other. She makes test questions that are nowhere to be found in the slides.
Her lectures are extremely disorganized and her PowerPoints are basically word vomit, not helpful at ALL! Communication with her was extremely hard, no clear grading. Everything is extremely fast, and nothing makes sense with her. Ended withdrawing to take it next semester again, and hate the idea she is the only one that teaches this course.
Lectures are extremely disorganized/bad grammar/incorrect information/never on tests. Bad communication, clearly doesn't care about students success. Unclear grading and Webcourse inept. Material doesn't agree with lab. Studying myself was better than attending lecture. Only good thing about this class was the curve at the end of the semester.
Dr. Ahangari's class was very manageable. The grade is 65% lecture exams and 35% lab. The lab focuses on reports, quizzes, and lab exams. You can do well on all of these just by studying the PowerPoints. For lecture exams take notes on what aren't in the slides. Study the slides and your lecture notes and that is sufficient to earn an A.
Ahangari is a very nice professor but her accent is hard to understand at times. Lecture exams are based on the PowerPoints but it is a lot of information some of which are unnecessary. She does give curves and extra credit though. Lab is easy and straightforward. Everything is on the PowerPoint and in the lecture videos.
The class is difficult and the powerpoints are hard to understand but, attending lecture made it easier & youtube will be your bestie. To study, watch youtube on the topics B4 lecture, attend lecture and THEN read the powerpoints. In this ORDER the material will be easier to understand. Dr. Ahangari is a caring professor who wants you to pass
Her lectures have whiplash as they jump between topics with little connection and the power-points are messy. On top of this, the language barrier is a huge hinderance and to do well you have to listen to these awful lectures while doing your best to stay awake while noting down information that isn't given in the power-points.
While Dr. A isn't the best at lecturing, the powerpoints give you enough info to get by on your own. The exams are based on the PowerPoints entirely and are usually curved, which helps. She is very nice and the people who complain about her accent just need to actually go to lecture and get used to it. No one goes to her lectures, and it shows.
Takes until the last day of update any final grades. She does not answer any questions in emails directly. She speaks really fast and is hard to understand. She is lenient when it comes to curving exams.
Her curves help a lot but study guides didn't reflect the exam well. 60-80 topics on each SG & it was mostly the header of each slide not specific points. Her ppts are a bit hard to follow + exams ask q's on info said once in her recordings(+ not found in ppts). This class was harder than orgo.. and I got over a 100 in that class. Barely got an A
going to class barely helps bc she just skips 20 slides and says "you can read this on ur own" as if it is an easy concept to understand. Her ppts can be confusing. the only good thing was that as long as u study the ppt youll do fine on exams and they are all online open for 12 hrs.
Tough class bc the exams were like a mine field to study. I always filled out & studied the study guide and still averaged 78% on exams. I learned my lesson later on that lecture was important bc she discussed clinical cases and topics not found in the ppt. The exams become more clinical each time
idk man. I was really disappointed with both anatomy and physio here. Grade is only based solely on pretty hard exams and the powerpoints are god awful. I'd argue she's a good lecturer but for a class as broad as physiology, her lectures just do not work. I liked the lab tho
Lecture is not really useful to attend, unless it's regarding clinical cases which is usually on Fridays. Study powerpoints mainly for exams. Ahanghari gave curves for every exam, which helped a lot.
The curves and labs saved me. Exams are your only grade. She rambled from point to point, so not enough is covered to be exam-ready. Study guides not helpful. Exams poorly designed and based on powerpoints. Zoom lectures sometimes helpful for clinical questions. Went to every lecture and still did awful. Pick another prof if available.
This is not an easy class, so you shouldn't expect an easy time taking it. She gives you the topics and information needed, you just need to focus/study consistently to pass. She generously curves, and you can tell she is passionate about this topic. Study guides are not that specific, but it does "guide" you in what topics to focus more on.
Professor is extremely nice. However, she is very vague and expects you to know the information somewhat before class. I had to study for weeks for her exams and still scored average. Thankfully, she did curve and I barely got an A. If you do not want to work 25+ hours a week on this class then I would avoid enrolling for this class.
Her teaching style is SO bad I couldn't bare to go to a single one of her lectures. She talks too fast, jumps slides, provides irrelevant information, and draws random pictures with 0 meaning. Her only assignments are 5 tests, nothing else. Gave a curve at the end of the semester, brought me from a B to an A which is the ONLY plus to this class.
Dr. Ahangari is very unclear on what she wants you to know and the exams are extremely detailed. The lab portion is very interesting but the lecture is terrible. She emphasizes knowing certain things that then aren't on the exam and she rambles. She's very nice and is clearly very intelligent on her subjects but it's just a lot.
Beware she has a heavy accent, so understanding her can be challenging. Don't take her in the summer please cause she will condense all the chapters into one and you will probably fail unless you devote 24/7 to this class. The lab was easy but she does curve so I guess that's her only positive thing. No homework or quizzes so there's that as well.
I don't know if it's just that it was 6 weeks or only graded on 3 tests but I absolutely disliked this class. I could never really understand what we were learning. She would not answer questions in lecture and didn't quite prepare us for her tests. She has a HUGE curve/extra credit bc everyone was going to fail without it. I wouldn't recommend.
The information is difficult to grasp but barely being able to understand what shes saying half of the time makes it so much harder. I go to every lecture and still have no idea whats going on. I wish there were more prof options for this class because I could not tell you half of the things she says because I cant understand with her accent.
Sadly, we have no other option but to take this professor. The lack of instruction and guidance sets you up for a fun time. SI sessions were the only guidance for exams. 2 in person classes turned to 2 zooms lectures after the onset of the semester. The class material is fun but her teaching style is a disservice to your career in the medical field
It is SO BAD, I wanna give her a 0. But that's not possible, so I giver her...a 1. Your best bet is to study the powerpoints, BRS 3rd ed. manual questions, practice exam questions, and ONLY the in-person lecture notes you take. Her zoom lectures are hard to follow (tbh, all lectures were), and the exams felt like content was excluded. Good luck.
Overall, human physiology is a straightforward class. She teaches a lot more than what she actually tests on, which can be annoying. She assumes everyone wants to be a medical doctor and tries to prepare us to be... She is nice and you can always ask questions, but sometimes lectures got confusing and she goes very fast.
You are graded by 5 exams only. She does zoom lectures that are recorded. She curves exams so far are as follows, exam 1 by 10%, exam 2 by 12%, exam 3 by 14%. This is because there are often errors on the exams. She is very nice! The tests are based on power points and lecture. A lot of information that isn't tested on. Study guide helps.
Your grade is based on only 5 lecture exams and the lab. Though she curves the tests, usually by a letter grade, she is impossible to reach and is a terrible lecturer. The ONLY way to do well is to memorize the powerpoints and the BRS textbook questions. I would give her a 0 if I could. She's a nice person but a horrible professor.
This class was harder than orgo. The course is only graded based on the exams. You basically have to memorize the slides in order to get a good grade in the class. However, she does curve every exam alot, usually by a whole letter grade.
Your entire grade is 5 exams (65%) + lab (35% & easy). Slides are unorganized and are just walls of text which you must memorize in its entirety (~ 350 slides/exam) if you want a good exam score. Exams are very difficult, seemingly random, and contain mistakes. She does heavily curve the exams though (10-15%) so an A isn't impossible. Nice person.
If I could take this class with a different professor, i most certaintly would. Basically you have to memorize 4-5 powerpoints for each exam (200-300) slides. When she lectures she jumps around the slides and adds her own things to them. She curves at end of semester. i would not reccommend. But this department needs to get another professor....
Legitimately the worst instructor I have ever had (I have over 200 college credits). I would avoid taking her at all costs and try to take this at another school if possible since she is the only professor for this course at UCF. The lab instructor is vastly superior and should be the one teaching the course.
her lectures are messy and do not add much relevant info for exams, ppts are messy and have grammar issues. entire grade is based on exams with poorly written questions and none are dropped, though she does give lots of bonus points. the lab is 100% the better portion of the class. by far the worst professor i have had at ucf :/
It's clear that Dr. Ahangari is very knowledgable and cares about what she's teaching. Attendance is not necessary, and 2 of the 3 days are on zoom. Her lectures are helpful, but her exams are difficult. Exams are your only grade in the class, but she curves well. Lab will also help your grade. Lab professor, Melissa Marthe, is also great.
Honestly thought she was okay at first. Then when my dad passed away in the middle of the semester she never answered her email, and I ended up having to take an exam on my father's death bed which nearly tanked my grade. As long as you take notes on the PowerPoints, and use some outside material to help with more difficult concepts, you'll be okay
Honestly, the lecture section of this class is very hard. 1 day in-person lecture and 2 zoom. She goes very fast through the material and the exams are the only thing graded. Exams are very hard and on Lockdown so Study. Attendance is only mandatory in lab. Lab is actually fun, very easy to grasp what they are teaching. Huge curve on lecture exams.
Ngl, this class was a bit hard but doable. For the lecture, about 5-6 ppts tested in each exam. You are only graded on 5 exams in total. There was a small extra credit assignment as well as curves at the end of the semester due to errors in exams. For lab, a lab report and quiz every week, 3 exams with extra credit microscope questions.
I got an A and hit 90s each exam, got 100% twice: study practice exam each chapter from BRS book she rec in syllabus, exam Qs came from that she just paraphrase esp clinicals. When she said "this is important guys" 100% will be on the exam, jot that down, make your own notes and study. She curve at the end but better start good not rely on that.
Professor Ahangari was nice, however she speeds through the material. She does emphasize what she wants you to know so that helps. I didn't use the textbook and got an A so do as you please. Very lecture heavy.
I took this class summer B and you need to dedicate every day to studying and do not take other classes at the same time if possible. The lectures personally are very bad and I taught it to myself. Do not get the textbook. Memorize PowerPoints and use the WordPress practice tests before taking exams. The curves make you go up a whole letter grade.
Not the best teacher but not the worst. I got an A by going to the SI sessions and having a good grade in lab. 10% curve on each exam with no drop for summer. A is possible but many received grades of Cs
Took her for physiology and not a good professor at all. Only grades based on tests. Offers a curve that will save your grade as well as the lab. If you can take another professor please do. Her class is very stressful.
Raheleh's class is challenging but doable if you stay on top of the material. Definitely use the BRS book and her study guides - they'll prep you well for the exams. unstuckstudy ai was also super helpful for me to get extra practice. Overall, a tough but rewarding class.
TERRIBLE...TERRIBLE...TERRIBLE. She jumps from slide to slide on her ppts and then expects everyone to know every single detail from her ppts for the exam even if she did not go over it. Lab will help tremendously. Has 5 exams and I believe one of them is dropped. Exams are online. But to emphasize once again...T E R R I B L E
UCF has set students who is required to take physiology up for failure. Took anatomy and it was a tough course, but the professor was clear in what we would be tested on and I found successful ways to study. She doesn't teach well at all and the entire grade is based off exams, she is the only prof for this course at UCF. Might be dropping out idk
I had never rated a professor before in my whole college years, nevertheless, I would not wish this class on my worst enemy. I am barely passing this class.
Never have come close to failing a class at UCF, but this is the first class I may fail at this school. Grade depends solely on tests that are extremely hard. Professor is hard to understand and it is frustrating that this is the only class offered for physiology which is a requirement to graduate.
5 exams make up the whole grade, it can be hard to understand her sometimes, occasionally she cuts out during lecture which gets annoying. Honestly memorizing the ppts and making questions based on it is your best bet. DO WELL IN LAB! It will probably save your grade & don't take this class with anatomy, take anatomy first so you have a foundation
Her lectures are boring. Sweet person, not very engaging lecturer. I struggle to watch her zoom lectures. She always ends up losing me because she kind of bounces around. She'll have a slide full of points and will say 2 words about it then click 2 slides ahead, completely lost. She makes very long pauses and drags her voice.. so frustrating!!
If youre taking her, its not you I promise. I'm an active student, I've sat through 3 hour Orgo classes no problem. I easily watch lab lectures at least twice. BUT AHANGARI? I CAN'T deal with her. She speeds through the PowerPoints and doesn't make sense. Her study guides are a little messy and vague as well. The points don't connect, just a mess.
She was OK. If you struggle to study independently outside of lecture, then this course may be difficult. She only grades exams, and with that, each exam is on at least 5 40-page PowerPoints, which are loaded with info. Exams are very specific and you're expected to know every detail. I recommend taking anatomy before this class.
She is one of the sweetest professors I have had and she does care about her students. With that being said, this is a difficult class and she does rapid fire through the slides QUICKLY. Everything you need is in the powerpoints and you can rewatch the lectures. The clinical points are a huge part of this class. you have to self-teach at times
Sweet Prof exams are pulled right from the lectures but lots of material to remember exams are challenging. Do well in the lab it will save your grade in the end. Exams are curved heavy and no other assignments then the lab which is 35%. Class is all online so UCF can cram more kids into a class and make more money. Awesome prof. though.
Real example: Two ppts, a total of 39 slides and she went through them in 35 minutes. Not sure why, Class is 50 minutes long. A total of 4 (not even full) lectures were done for Exam 5 material. The exam has 60 questions. Messy ppts and tons of mistakes on exams. Can't understand how anyone gives her a good rating just bc she's nice.
She's a sweet professor, but that unfortunately doesn't make up for her atrocious lectures. The powerpoints are extremely dense, in some cases >250 words for a single slide, and lecture skipped around and repeated often making it hard to follow. Exam questions were poorly worded and sometimes covered stuff not on the powerpoint or study guide.
Dr. Ahangari is truly not that bad. You do have to apply yourself and study a lot. She curves every exam by at least 5%. While the content is as difficult as anatomy, I do think her exams were a lot easier. There are 5 exams total, and are all online with webcam. Lab is pretty easy and can be a grade boost but they grade on A minus scale.
Dr.A is a very sweet person who struggles to lecture. She jumps around from slide to slide meaninglessly, expecting us to keep up with her all the way through. Her exams are very detailed, taken straight from the PowerPoints and some questions from the BRS book review exams. Write down her Clinical Points. Do well in the lab. 5-12% curve each exam.
This class was more difficult than I thought. The professor has a thick accent that takes a bit to get used to. She lectures quickly with a lot of information. I recommend not attending the live zoom lectures and watch the cloud recordings on your own once posted. She curves heavily due to the intensity of the subject. Use SI! Overall very doable!
Watch the lecture videos after they are posted so you can pause them and take notes. Making flashcards on quizlet helped and SI was helpful with practice questions. She seems to care about her students and acknowledges that the class is challenging. I liked the way she broke up concepts in her lectures. As long as you actually study you'll be fine.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. She doesn't know how to teach and does not engage at all with the students. I honestly don't know how she became a college professor. She has a very thick accent, which makes it difficult to understand what she says. You have to teach yourself for the exams, and her PowerPoint slides are terrible.
Doesn't teach. Just goes over the powerpoint at super speed and doesn't actually help you understand any of it.
She just talks. She does her class mixed mode one day in person 2 online. Her zoom lecture is recorded. Talks a lot and says a lot of unnecessary things, but is also veryyyy nice and genuine. Her exams are okay if you study but she will try to confuse you. Teaches of her head.
Her lectures are all over the place, she is hard to understand in person and online, slides have a lot of information of them. The tests are very in depth, and based solely off the powerpoint. She doesn't use the textbooks but I would recommend the board review book as she uses questions from there. Her webcourse is super disorganized too.
At the end of the day, Professor Ahangari is a very sweet woman. I can tell she cares deeply about her students. However, following along in her lectures was super difficult since she's very disorganized and she has a somewhat difficult to understand accent. DO WELL IN LAB! The exams are tough, but the extra credit and lab will save you.
Dr. Ahangari is sweet and offers extra credits and curves. However, lecture is absolutely all over the place and teaches at an obnoxious speed. Her lectures that she teaches on Zoom are recorded that can be watched later, but her in person lectures are not. My biggest advice is to be prepared to teach yourself. DO WELL IN LAB (35% of final grade)!!
Her Webcourse is a mess, lectures are confusing, and the syllabus barely explains how you're graded. No clear info on curves or extra credit—your final grade is a mystery until it posts. She does curve, but only to avoid mass fails. If anyone else taught this, it'd be better. Sadly, she's the only option, so be ready to teach yourself in misery.
Your entire grade is 5 exams - each worth 20%. Each exam is about 40-60 questions online with lockdown browser and webcam. I did not find lectures useful at all. You wont be able to know your grade until it is already entered on your transcript. She curves but you also cant ever get in touch with her to find out what the curves will be.
Be prepared to cry yourself to sleep at night. I have never wanted to drive off a cliff more than I did studying for this class. Her PPTs are awful, her accent is incomprehensible, and your grade is entirely composed of exams. Fail one and you're doomed. No drops. Her study guides are a sad excuse for help. Do yourself a favor and switch colleges.
Honestly the lectures and notes are an absolute mess. Her lectures are so hard to follow which makes note taking impossible. My advice is to do well in lab and just study exactly what she says. Frankly you are going to get around a 10% curve on your grade because of how hard it is. Good luck.
Very manageable class to add along difficult course loads. Massive curve on the exams, lab part was definitely the hardest. Just study for every test (PowerPoints) and you will be passing this class at minimum.
Ahangari is nice but awful lecturer. Between her heavy accent & horrible organization of the course, its easy to fail. She posts the zoom lectures which is cool but its still a very difficult class. Only reason I rated her a 2 is because she curves HEAVILY. exams are pretty much the only were graded on, and the questions didnt add up with lecture.
this class is difficult on its own but was even more difficult for me. it has hard to retain information even after rewatching lectures. unfortunately i struggled to understand the professor and did not gain valuable information that i needed. physiology is important for the future of my major and i feel like i did not get the structure i needed
This course was disorganized and poorly taught. Lectures lacked clarity, exams covered material not taught, and communication was minimal. No practice work or feedback made it hard to improve. If you're serious about a health career, take this course elsewhere—your GPA and future depend on it.
She can be difficult, but this class is what you put in is what you get. Not many people go to her lectures but I've learned some things by attending. Regardless, this is a difficult subject and I think it shouldn't be easy. If you're going to healthcare, you should know the material like the back of your hand no matter the professor.
Horrible lecturer. Repeats sentences over and over that do not make sense. More concerned about fixing her hair in the camera than actually lecturing. She is hard to understand and her responses to emails are confusing. Would not recommend her class. Blames our poor grades on us and not her teaching.
She is not a coherent lecturer, and she repeats words in a distracting way and focuses more on her appearance in the Zoom lectures than lecturing. She also frequently blames (her) network issues and low exam averages on students while declining to answer questions asked during lecture. There should be a second professor option for this course.
This professor does not teach. She reads directly from the slides and does not even know the information herself. Be prepared to teach yourself all the material and have a much better lab grade than lecture. I spend countless hours each week learning this course on my own. There should definitely be another professor.
The Zoom lectures are always glitching and highly unorganized. I wasn't sure what or why we were doing most of the time. She says that if you come to the lecture, you will do well on the exams because she says what is on them. She does not. You're on your own. The tests are nothing like the lecture besides clinical applications.
Class can you hear me? Take note!
Awful as a professor, nice person. Her power points are INCREDIBLY poorly worded. You WILL spend most of your time trying to translate the already jargon heavy sentences from broken english into something decipherable while note taking. Many of her powerpoints were also last edited by her husband as long ago as 2007 so take that as you will
She's really nice but insufferable as a professor. She complains that students blame her for poor grades but she's very hard to understand, has terrible connection on zoom & PowerPoints that make no actual sense. You're not given tools to succeed.
Worst professor I have ever had. She is more concerned with fixing her hair on zoom than saying a coherent sentence. Her responses to emails are confusing and unprofessional. She says she will answer questions at the end and then does not. Repeats words over and over that by the time she says one sentence I have lost all train of thought.
Awful lectures. Often answered questions with “it is that way because that's the way it is.” I got a B in her class but would not take class with her again.
Took online. Not the worst but not my favorite.
I would recommend this professor solely from the amount of extra credit that she provides, but I found the class okay. I do feel that information given throughout lecture contains too much extra content, where I would just focus on clinical applications. The amount of extra content made it a bit harder to study for me. Nice professor as well.
Extremely disorganized canvas. Irrelevant information on her powerpoints, and her lectures were not very helpful besides the clinical applications. My biggest advice is to use SI and to make flashcards and review them often.
Graded on 5 exams. Broke some concepts down during lecture but sped through many slides. Generous enough to post lectures, plentiful EC, and curved nicely based on class average. Slides contained some errors, vague, and could've been reworded differently. Kind of ghosted for lecture on the last 2 days. Enjoyed reviewing clinical cases with her.
Have you ever contemplated suicide? If not, then this class will get you there. When you are teaching such an important class that is required for anyone in nursing, then you should be able to be understood at the very least. When none of your powerpoints or tests make sense and have constant grammar mistakes, how is that fair? Godspeed to y'all.
Powerpoints are a mess. Be prepared to redo everything and learn it yourself. The zoom meetings her her speeding through everything. Lec is only graded on 5 exams. Ec was 10% for 3 exams and 5% curve for 2 exams. Final grade was a B so overall curve was 5% for me. Lab saves u but memorize lab ppts so u can ace quizzes. Lab prof was amazing!
Grade is 5 exams, no drops + lab grade. Powerpoints and lectures are terrible, be prepared to self teach. Curve is super high but you won't know what it is or get it until final grades are posted on myUCF. Exams are full of typos and make no sense. I got an A but do not take this class if you have any other option, the stress isn't worth it.
Class is 5 tests all taken on lockdown browser. Her lectures are recorded and placed on canvas. Her power points read almost as an essay as they are all text and her teaching is just her reading them. The tests are 40-60 questions and about 30% are grammatically wrong to the point you don't know the answer. She curved final grade 6%.NiceLadyBadClass
She strings together long sentences about slides not on screen and has an accent that makes it difficult to follow. Her lecture portion is 65 percent of the final grade- five exams with some extra credit and curves. It's hard to measure how well you understand the info because there are no other assignments. Do well in lab is all I can say.
