Wow, terrible teacher I would have to say he was quite arbitrary! He is a confused man and should not be teaching English maybe 18th century literature!!!! Steve Good is where it is at...

Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Raj could quite possibly be the most unclear prof. I've ever had. If you enjoy english at all, stay away from his classes.

Pretty much the worst prof I've ever had at any school - ever. Raj is unapproachable and arrogant to the extreme. If you are a 1st year student needing english 150 or 160 - this is NOT the guy who should teach you. Especially if you aren't the best english student in the first place...simply dread going to his class. Ugh...

Nice enough guy, but not much of a teacher. Rambles endlessly, is not available for out of class help and tells lots of random, irrelevant stories. His grading is inconsistent.

The content was interesting, but it could of been so much more interesting without his ramblings. He was quite rude commenting on students work.

the world would be a better place if raj got fired. he is the most pompous, useless teacher i have ever had. he never replied to my emails and gave no feedback other than "entirely incorrect". the semester will be over in 2 days and i still don't have marks from assignments i did 3 months ago. avoid raj unless you like to waste time. errg.

I've stopped going to his weekly three hour lecture on post-colonial literature because WE DO NOT TALK ABOUT LITERATURE in his class.The lectures are pointless, anecdotal and full of meaningless $10 words that we have to ask him to define. You're here to teach us, not impress us Raj. Listen to your students and stop wasting our time and money!

I am also in the post-colonial literature class, but hanging in, God know why. If you like three hours of boring, unfocused lectures sign up. Otherwise, run away quickly.

The teacher is inexperienced and his marking lacks clarity.

I took his class online-- long story short he's not consistant and I never know what he wants. I sent him a email saying I was confused about a assignment and he told me "I was a liar" and that I shoudn't be confused because "he sent emails". Oh well it that case I totally understand Raj--how silly of me to doubt you. DO not take his classes!!!

worst teacher by far. useless...lazy...has no attitude toward helping students. doesnt tell you what youve done wrong, or teach anything to do with literature. DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN'S CLASS...WASTE OF TIME & MONEY.

He is the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Does not care about his students, and will not let you retake/redo anything. He is very pompous and has a huge ego for some reason. We had a class discussion on how poor of a teacher he was one day, and everyone agreed. That's how bad he is. NEVER TAKE HIS CLASS OR GET OUT NOW!!

He takes weeks to return even short assignments and his instructions are not clear. I also find his class discussions very frustrating as he often asks for class feedback and interrupts with some drawn out tangent. I question how much he cares about his students' needs and wants...

Poor professor. The assignments are completely unclear, and he takes an exorbitant amount of time marking them. Doesn't seem to really care about his students, nor does he seem to really know the subject material that he's teaching. Class lectures are awful, consisting mostly of his rambling tangents. Very poor.

His lectures are off topic, personal rants. He is completely unorganized and is quick to make excuses for his late marking, minimal feedback, and blatant errors. Also, I find his interactions with students to be completely disrespectful. He interrupts students constantly after asking for their feedback and giving them the floor.

WORST professor ever. Vague and inconsistent marker. Takes eons to return your marked assignments and his feedback is not at all helpful. Hard marker and does not justify his grading to any standard. Feels like he pulls your grade out of a hat. Avoid at all costs. Unprofessional attitude and treats his students poorly. He should be fired.

HORRIBLE prof. He doesn't make assignments clear and is completely unprofessional. Finished assignments take several weeks to hand back and seem like he rushed through the marking process. Discussions are unrelated to topics and often rants about random topics. Waste of time attending classes.

Took English as an online class. He promised to make comments on our discussion board and did the first week. Nothing since then, assignments are returned late with little supporting info for the grade received. Doesn't like using grade function in D2L, but doesn't update you on the grade received for assignments, 2 months in and only one mark.

I took this as an online course, so never met the instructor. I wish he had taken the time to be more actively engaged with the class. - Dissatisfied.

To put it simply Raj was horrible. Received a A- on my first assignment, F on my mid-term. Marking, notes, feedback, etc was all very unclear! Went to talk to him about my mid-term grade and he provided no help. Didn't even remember marking my paper. Avoid if possible!

Worst prof I have ever had. Instructions are unclear. All he does during class is scribble incomprehensible "notes" and expects you to follow. I asked him a question about my final paper, and he got angry and told me to look at my notes. I received my first C in his class with no justification, as all my assignments recieved b+ or A+. Inconsistant

Horrible Prof... should not be teaching a 1st year course. Avoid his class! So unclear and mean to students who don't understan what he is teaching.

VERY UNCLEAR in assignments, will not work with or for you, not a teacher. More of a teller, tries to tell you what to do, and if it isn't what he wants, it is not right. Do not take his class!

Is not clear about his assignments at all, whenever you ask for help it just leaves you more confused. His quizzes start easy and get incredibly hard and he is a tough grader. Not much feedback at all on assignments.

Seems like a nice guy at first, but soon you will notice that he is not teaching. He is not clear at all and contradicts himself about the guidelines. He lost me when he spent 50% of the class looking at his notes to check what he should be talking about, leaving the students in an awkward silence for long periods.

Really didn't want to leave a poor review but this was absolutely ridiculous. The assignments were so unclear, almost no class time was spent going over anything. The exams were also insanely difficult for no apparent reason, think mundane minuscule details in a novel. If no one get the question right its too hard!

Absolutely ridiculous standards. Grades first year college classes as if it was fourth year university. Does not teach the content on the tests in class nor doesn't he explain what to expect for your texts. It's impossible to prepare yourself for his assignments. I would not recommend taking his courses ever. I've been an A+ student for 2 years.

The only thing positive I can say about him is that he comes across as a pleasant guy. There are too many negative things to say about him as an instructor to list here... Simply put, he's the worst instructor/teacher I've ever had. To make things worse, he's a hard marker too. Avoid at all costs!!!!!

He doesn't provide much help. He said things like, "you can find the answers to this in a grade school text book" or "I hope I'm in a good mood when I mark this". He was not being funny either. I would suggest avoiding him at all costs if you can. Would not take again. Had someone that edits legislation help me and he still gave terrible marks.

I do not think I actually learned anything, and therefore had no idea what to expect on the final exam. He expected people fresh out of high school to have learned things that he should be teaching. Did not go over APA or MLA despite that being the main reason for the course. Avoid at all costs.

Raj is rude and does not make his lectures engaging, interesting or fun to attend. He is not understanding whatsoever, and has no problem calling students out in front of the whole class. Not to mention, chooses perhaps the most boring books for study material known to man. Stay away from this guy cause he will make ya hate English.

Dropped the class because teachers code of conduct was broken. witnessed teacher refusing to give appropriate help to peers. No listening skills, interrupts and uses disconfirming language. comes across as very pleasant at first. Stay on his good side, you'll probably do fine. If English is your second language, I do not recommend this teacher.

Raj is unfortunately the worst English teacher I have ever had. It was to my understanding that this course was to teach you University writing - it has not. He does not go over MLA or APA and tends to go on tangents about his personal life stories more than he teachers the curriculum. He is also happy to call students out in front of the class.

I haven't received a bad English grade until I took this class. Avoid it if you can! I could relate to most of the other reviews. He would assign APA/MLA assignments and not go over it properly. I don't think I learned anything in his class either. He was often vague and didn't understand the discussions. Also, books chosen to read were boring!

Basically Learning and doing all papers on your own. Asked for help several times and was just referred to a Librarian to help me do my paper. Defiantly not a first choice for a english teacher here at Camosun College.

Raj is not a teacher. There were two assignments, neither came back with any feedback and a bunch of quizzes on stories each week. Raj never taught a single thing. Raj supplied a rambling, patronizing intro to his class and then was never heard from again. Im stunned that students are expected to pay for his class.

He seems like a very kind guy but not a good teacher. Lecturer maybe, but did not teach us very much, anything throughout the course. Expected us to be at a "college level" without teaching us how to write at a college level. Most of us had never done apa or mla, or written above high school level, did not provide any instruction, just marked hard

Raj does not express expectations or share grading rubrics for assignments. He wants perfection within your grammar but clearly expressed at the start of the course that "this isn't a formal grammar course". And finally, he only gives A, B, C, and D grades and refuses to give out A+, A-, B+, B-,...

CHOOSE ANOTHER IF YOU HAVE OPTION.

Long story short: -You're on your own and have to teach yourself all the material -No in line or written feedback, he only does MP3 files (actual feedback is rare) -No lectures, just readings -All assignments are vaguely described

First class I've ever dropped because of professor. Vague instructions should allow for creativity, however not the case. He has something specific in mind but doesn't give clear instructions. Very tough marker for a class that the only prerequisite is English 12. Wants assignments in PDF format but only has that detail in course outline?
