I had him for the commerce math and he is terrible. he is not helpful and gets mad if you ask questions about what he is teaching. hard to understand and never tells you what he is doing
He really knows his stuff. He does have an accent that is hard to understand at first, but I'm from small town Saskatchewan and I caught on. He has a passion for what he teaches, which is nice to see. Very intelligent.
"what don't you understand?" pretty much sums it up. Forget asking questions in this guys class. worst prof ever. And if anyone in the class feels that an exam is unfair, make sure they don't mention it to him.
Tests fair says exactly what is on them. Willing to drop worst test.
Raj is an excellent teacher. The problem is that people don't attend labs and then expect him to help them during lecture. Always says hi in the hallways!
Awesome prof...so funny. Sit in the front so he gets to know you, he is a very friendly guy. You just have to get past his accent and his messy writing. He is always happy to help...get to know him and you'll do fine.
Hard course, but he does very good examples and along with the textbook you can figure out most problems by yourself. He will do problems from the homework on the board and is always open for extra help.
I have never seen such a clever teacher although his exam is hard.
RAJ is passionate about what he teaches. He teaches with ethusiasm. He is easily understandable, despite what some of the other comments portray. They are just angry because they failed.
Newsflash: if you fail, it's YOUR fault, not Raj's. He does a fine job of explaining the concepts and is helpful when approached. He puts questions on exams that are straight out of the homework assignment, and yet people complain about them being too difficult.
Learn english first
Can you really trust a rating by a guy who says, "Learn english first", and thus makes two grammatical errors in a three word sentence? No, you cannot. The reason people fail is because Raj has to teach these kind of idiots.
tests are very fair. for those of you who failed, try harder!!! It's not that bad, really. The text is very good and there are a million different resources to help you pass this class.

He was very hard to understand. He was very loud, seemed angry if you asked questions, and was very unhelpful. I missed a test because of a death in my family and he would not let me take it later, because he didn't 'have the time'. I lost 15% of my mark right there! How helpful is that, especially with a valid reason!??
I thought the class was super easy. If you don't do the work properly, that's your fault. Don't blame the prof because of your own preconcieved prejudices.
This class requires a lot of work and effort. Raj is not always clear, but he is very helpful and informative if you approach him with questions. If you use the text mt's and the final aren't so bad. Definatley get the previous year's tests.
Best math teacher ever!! accent is the best it makes you actually listen to his lectures! he keeps you entertained all class so it is never boring! Pretty funny guy with a geeky sense of humor!

This guy knows his stuff. I didn't get the highest mark in the class, but I never took any calculus before this. He is an excellent prof, but make sure to take his advice and go to class and do the homework problems.
Very loud speaker. Do the homework assigned! Visit math help center early! Get old midterms! As for the final: Be able to read the questions and know what he is asking for, look for commonalities.The course takes the same problem and uses different ways of getting to the answer, (with some exceptions).
dropped this class good.. hahaaaaa. raj is hard to understand and his notes are all over the place. he goes way too fast and all yur doing is frantically copying notes rather than learning.
Raj is a great prof. He definitely knows math. Make sure to attend every class and do the homework and you will have a much easier time in this class.

He is a really hard prof. He goes so fast and his notes are just all over the place. All you do during class is try to keep up with copying your notes and you don't learn anything until you do your homework. His tests are pretty tough and you really have to know what you're doing to even pass the class.
His accent is hard to understand and his writing illegible. He goes way too fast that as you are frantically copying the notes down you can't even think. Ask him a question and he yells..he definitely knows the material he's teaching, just has some issues with teaching it

Very nice guy if you see him outside of class. I don't believe there was a class average above 60%. One class av was failing. His writing is incomprehensible and writes extremely fast. His accent is very strong and terribly hard to understand. Passed the class with a low 60 and couldn't have been happier. You need to do text book questions to pass.
Raj is sweet.. he is an awesome teacher.. hilarious and explains things really well.. I dont' know how people cant' pass this class unless you don't show up to the lectures. I sit near to the fron becuase he tends to talk a little quiet and writes really fast but other than that he is a really good prof..
He was a good prof, knows his stuff and explains it well, but hard to understand through the accent and his writing is ilegible until you get used to it. I found it hard, probably because I skipped a lot of classes and never did the problems, but I still came out with an 80...do the problems and go to class and you'll do fine!
Great prof and guy. Very willing to help with questions and will often raise exam marks. I didn't go to class at all but still pulled off over 80 in the class, just study and the course is easy.
Do textbook questions! The midterms are very similar to the midterms from the previous years. if you study these you are golden! the final was brutal. Everyone battled their way through that one for sure! He has an accent but its nothing compared to others i have heard.
Great prof for this class! Completely necessary to do textbook questions and keep up to date. Overall the midterms and final were average difficulty. Easy to get a high final mark if you keep on track. He lets you know lots about the final since he writes it which really helps!
Very funny! He likes to keep the class interested by cracking little jokes. He does all his problems on the smart board and records them so that he can post the entire class online for you to refer back to. He finds better ways to explain the examples in the text. Very hard class on the other hand. Expect to make a lot of effort. Recommended!
I found this prof to be very easy, but I have a strong calculus background. If you are taking calculus for the first time, he moves fast so expect to put in a lot of work to pass. Do the questions in the textbook, go to the USSU and get old midterms, you will be fine. His writing is a little difficult to read but explains application questions well
Awesome prof. He can go a bit fast but he keeps it interesting with his little jokes. He can be a bit of a jerk but he does it hilariously. Make sure you take this class in the morning so you can hear him say "Good Morning". Also go after tests so you can hear him ask how the test was.
STUD! best math teacher at U of S! listen in class and do your textbook assignments then pump the class.
The class needs to be audited over period of time and the position should be reconsidered. He makes the course difficult for people who don't learn his way, I lost marks because of a different method used but I got the right answer, unfair prof couldn't disklike anyone more
Raj may be the most arrogant, conceited professor I have ever had the misfortune to meet. I managed to have an 83 average going into the final, no thanks to his lectures. His writing is completely illegible. Easily one of the worst profs around, my 15 year old sister could teach calculus better then Raj. I cannot believe this man has a job teaching
Raj, is terrible. First of all, you can barely understand him and other times he is muttering under his breath the things your supposed to learn. He RUSHES through the whole class, not taking the time to actually teach you anything. He thinks that if he knows all of this you must know all of it. He needs to rework his teaching style.
At first I wasn't sure about Raj but after a bit i realized he was really good. Easy to talk to and really funny! He's pretty good at giving extra marks on tests if you go talk to him!
I love Raj. If you sit a in a good spot where you can actually here him, and don't rely on the videos taken of the class you are far better off. He is an interesting prof, goes through math a bit quick, but is very smart. He tells good stories, has funny jokes, and I found his class enjoyable. I would recommend him!
Raj is a great prof. He teaches pretty fast, but if you go to class and take good notes the assignments are pretty easy. His tests are thorough, but if you are prepared high marks are definitely achievable. The key to this class is getting the old tests, the midterms usually have 4/5 questions taken directly from the previous years test.

I don't normally post on here but I was just surprised to see any bad reviews for this guy. Easily one of the best prof's I had in my first year, and I don't know why people can't understand him, because even though he has an accent his English is very clear. Definitely take his math class
Raj was an EXCELLENT math prof. He was extremely clear, told you exactly what would be on the midterms and final, and answered helpfully if you had any questions. He was funny and made me enjoy going to an 8:30 math class. TAKE HIS CLASS, AVOID THE OTHER PROF.
Raj is a great professor and clearly knows what he is talking about. With all math classes, it is essential to purchase the textbook and actually use it to practice questions. Raj goes very quickly in lectures and expects you to know your basic high school maths so make sure you have taken some time to refresh or you will be left behind.
Raj knows his stuff. This was a very challenging class. He takes his time going through the first chapters then BAM, rushes through the last chapters. He crams so much into his lectures he doesn't give time to learn. I had to get a tutor because he makes things harder than they need to be! DO THE ASSIGNMENTS! And get old tests. Thats what helped me
Raj was a great prof with clear expectations. I really enjoyed going to his class. His writing is pretty messy so it takes some time to get used to. Going to the lecture is pretty helpful but definitely read and do the problems in the textbook. The midterms and final were very fair. A strong background in calculus is what got me through this class.

Raj was a great professor. Very clear in most explanations. The pace got pretty fast during the most difficult material. The final was a little bit on the difficult side. Do problems in the textbook and attend all lectures and it shouldn't be too challenging of a class. I made the class difficult for myself by not preparing for the midterms
Biggest beauty around campus by far
Not only was he difficult to understand, his unorganized writing and lectures did not help. He never took a simple route or explained anything thoroughly. He always spoke as if everyone understood and never let students know what section we were looking at or what questions to practice.
Raj was an okay prof. His notes were slightly unorganized and hard to follow unless you were actually there for the class. His accent is pretty heavy but he's also a funny guy- he cracks a lot of jokes which makes the boring lectures more bearable. Although attendance isn't mandatory, i highly suggest showing up to class if you want a good mark.

I found the lectures didn't teach very much. Learned more from watching Stavrou's tutorial videos and reading the textbook than going to lectures.
No point in going to the lectures, he won't teach you any info whatsoever. He skims through examples while skipping steps and rambling. At the end of a lecture, you're left with a piece of looseleaf with numbers you don't understand how you got. Better off going to Stavrou's labs, and reading the textbook. Would not recommend!!! Avoid him.
Lectures are pointless but you will get a decent mark by showing up to labs and reading textbook.
This prof is by far the worst math teacher you could have. Incredibly unclear in his teachings. His examples are all over the place and he rambles and mumbles so much to the point that you have no idea what is going on. And his writing is very sloppy to boot. Wouldn't recommend his class to anyone.

Passed math, thanks to the textbook and a tutor. The lectures are not worth your time whatsoever. Goes over examples very quickly and in an unorganized matter. If Stavrous is teaching Math 121 next fall, I 100% recommend taking it with him.
Attendance was not mandatory and that was what saved my life. Just read the textbook (actually read it) and watch the videos of Stavros that he uploads in Blackboard. Always do the mock exams also cause the midterms are usually how it looks like. Lastly, the final exam for math 121 was extremely difficult and we were all unprepared! Study!!
Raj is the best. And he's also a real badass. Once you've gotten your first taste of him, you'll definitely want the swaggerific Indian doctor back again! He's got style. He's got swag. Shirt unbuttoned, hairy chest, black suit, gold chain with bling around his neck... He's a straight up G! Doin' math and things like a prodigy!
Considering the difficulty and size of this class, Raj is a good professor. He is straightforward and sets clear expectations. The midterms throughout the year are about half the difficult of the final exam so be aware and spend A LOT of time preparing for the final.

Absolutely terrible prof. Everything about his class is awful. first of all, you have to teach yourself because you can't understand a single thing he says or writes. Your left to teach yourself with a textbook he wrote, and a separate answer key that only shows half the work. I would avoid Raj at all because he will make your life miserable
Raj is a cool guy and really funny, but I would be lying if i said he was a good prof. He is very difficult to understand due to his heavy accent, and his writing is almost impossible to read. Which leaves you to the textbook to teach yourself everything on your own.
Worst prof I have ever had, quite upset I even had to pay for the class when I ended up spending just as much on a tutor because its impossible to learn anything from him. So if you absolutely must take math from him, don't bother going to a single lecture just get yourself a good tutor.
Raj is one of the worst professors Ive ever had. His lectures are basically useless. Thellctures are just him doing equations on the board and not explaining anything. Be ready to teach yourself everything from the textbook and do some research into tutors as his lectures are pointless. That being said he does give lots of partial marks on tests.

Lectures were dated, but funny. There is so much homework - Do not fall behind. In fact, work ahead when you can. Many of my classmates had already failed this class it seems, so prepare to take it twice. The programs used were glitchy, and his writing is absolutely awful. Study groups will help.
If you want to do good in his class your only hope is by getting a tutor. I personally watched minimal lecture videos or read any of his notes (that are unreadable btw). My tutor basically taught me everything and that is the only reason I succeeded. Good luck to anyone else who takes this class, you will need it.
I had a tutor and studied strictly from the textbook. The labs were more confusing than anything else. The course outline was not always accurate in relation to the material to study for the test. I found online easier because it was open book. I dropped this class my first year because memorizing the formulas and steps for the test was difficult.
By far the worst prof and class I have ever had. His examples in class are unrelated to the exam, the assignments are helpful but he refuses to give you detailed answers with some just saying "good luck!", and his 'lectures' require the students to ask the questions. He sits in the lectures and waits for students to ask q's and doesn't teach.
Never explains why he does anything. It's like he expects memorization for everything, but this is not feasible at all.
Stats 245 - I'm willing to bet I'd understand more if I had a different prof (just read the textbook he's useless) He basically yells the entire time, or is just loud, HIS WRITING IS ILLEGIBLE, speaks way too fast to comprehend what he's talking about. Expects you to understand the material before you've even learned it.
The course itself is hard and includes a ton of readings. His final is worth 60%. He does 5 midterms, take the best 4 marks. All of which are hard and need excellent preparation.
Final is worth 60% and the midterms are 40% (takes your best 4 of 5 midterms). Lectures are amazing and he teaches super well, just way too fast (not in terms of comprehension, but note taking). Pay attention and do the optional practice problems and you will do great. Funny profs with lots of gambling references (kind of practical in a way)
4 students out of a class of 30 bothered showing up for lectures if that gives you any idea how useful they were. Teaching yourself with the textbook is a much more effective use of your time. His handwriting is illegible, his accent is heavy and if you ask a question prepare to be mocked.

It is evident that Raj knows a lot about stats and cares about the topic, he just does a terrible job showing it. Lectures are poorly organized and he moves way to fast for you to effectively take notes. His lectures only left me more confused about the topic. Don't bother going to the lectures, just read the textbook instead.

Lectures are hit-or-miss, but the textbook and study tools like Unstuckstudy are essential. Exams are tough, but engaging with the material and using all resources pays off. Overall a challenging course, but manageable with effort.

Hardest class I've taken, but not because the content is impossible. The material actually makes sense with practice. The problem is the prof. Lectures were super hard to follow and his writing was unclear, so the textbook was way more useful. Dont waste your time in the lectures and just self-study from the textbook.
