He is very fun, and has command over the topics he is talking about. Uses audioviduals and always tries to make class interesting. Doesnot give much assignments, like others.Most of his assignments are based on our day to day "practical" lives. Without reservation, I highly recommend others to take his class.
Horrible. It takes a couple classes to begin to understand him. His tests are really HORRIBLE. He diesnt explain what he wants from his tests and grades them really hard. Doesnt believe in multi choice. Tries hard to be good teacher but is really hard.
He is very hard to get. Most that I have heard from others as well as myself feel that he doesn't use the text as much as needed but instead his own ideas and notes. I couldn't really understand his tests because the questions were so vague.
Ok teacher. He tries hard and is very intelligent but grades as if it was a graduate level Soc class. All tests are essay and wording must be exact to get any points. Not recommended.

I liked his class. Tests and assignments were not that difficult. He assigned essays more than anything (4 or 5), but they were not that long and dealt with an interesting topic. His accent is easy to get used to. "Teeries" is "Theories"! :)
Prof. Pant is so much knowledgeable. Knows well what he is talking about, also listens well. Provides crosscultural perspectives. Very helpful and easy grading. I had good time. I highly recommend to take his class.
Lots of work in this class. Several videos. He is hard to understand sometimes because of his accent. When you can understand him he is very funny! He grades easy. Attendance is mandatory for part of your grade.
Almost impossible to understand--- not only because of his thick accent, but, also because of his attitude. There is a lack of understanding between the teacher and student.
X-tremely hard to understand(simply b/c hes from india and is not able to learn the language)!Doesnt know important US historicak dates!Only teaches his viewpoint!seems to hate his job!always need to blame someone for everything!never lets you finish your question and just talks into it, and about something completely different!I DONT RECOMMEND HIM
He is very hard to understand and teaches you nothing but his viewpoint. Attendance is mandatory and he will not let you leave class early for any reason. Has a huge ego and is extremely rude. I suggest finding a different professor!!!
Strict for those who are not serious and who keep on text messaging. But very helpful to those who put effort. You talk to him about any problem issue, he is 100 percent helpful. Good grasp of his subject. You will love him.
He is hard working teacher. Grades easy, no hard test. Mostly 1-2 page paper writing. Has very good sense of humor. Interesting instructor with sense of humor. Attendanceis mandatory needs to call or mail him about absence. Late coming, early leaving, side talking NO NO NO. Fun class. I wish I'd other class with this Prof.You'll enjoy this Prof.

This was the worst professor I've ever had. I couldn't understand him - his accent is extremely thick and he is unintelligible. He is also very negative about EVERYTHING and extremely boring. I learned absolutely nothing other than his twisted personal views of things. Don't take his class, he should not be allowed to teach.

I wish my other classes were like this one. My best prof. Enjoyed his style of presentation and open discussion about any social issues. He is very much objective, and fair in his analysis and dealing with students.Take his class, you'll like it.
Great experience. Exciting class discussion and encourages each one to express thier experience and perspectives. He's very fun and easy grading too. I did enroll in two of his classes in the spring and fall.
I did one course with him in Spring of 06, now I am back to his another class. He has accent but you can get it easily...most of all, you will enjoy live discussion and easy assignments and NOT a lot of readings.What you look for?
Has a different teaching style. Some in our class had problems with this, we would spend half the time listening to someone who didn't like his teaching style fight it out with him.
Lots of tedious and boring busy-work (1-2pg paper per week). Just stood at the front of the room and lectured mostly and didn't seem to enjoy it himself. Class discussions usually ended up WAY off topic. Needed some variety! Not for students trying to work AND go to school.
Dr Pant is the most helpful professors I had this past semester. I had so much of family and health problem, without his kind support and understanding, I would not have made this class possible. Thanks for your cooperation. Anybody who enrolls to this course, be honest and communicate with him, he will help you, I'm sure .Highly recommended.
The most helpful professor I ever had! He is caring and easy grading. Take it if you can attend the class (attend mandatory). His assignments are easy. Smiling personality who walks xtra miles to help if you ask for.

The first four weeks were very disorganized. Very opinionated for a soc prof. Took weeks to return grades, most of which were unclear. Teaches an Intro class as if you were grad students.
Enjoyed Dr. Pant's class. Very professional. Personal opinion DOES mean nothing to him unless backed by empirical evidences. Brings about cross cultural and global example to make sense of sociological issues in the US context. Objective, nonbiased, non opinionated on top of all these he is EXTREMELY HELPFUL if one's honest. HIGHLY Recommended.
Very helpful, not opinionated, flexible and "NICE" professor. I had Sociology and Marriage and Family class with him. You will love him, I highly recommend without reservation.
This professor,a 'family man' brings new perspectives to look/analyze family issuues, in the US & elsewhere using more of conflict/critical feminist approach. He is "UNIQUE", easy going, sometimes seems flying all over the globe..however, I believe he is talented and very knowledegeable...& on top of all, practical professor. Recommended, YES. YES.
I am still in Dr. Pant's Marriage and Family class. I like everything about this class from his teaching to helpfulness to types of assignment. Take this course from him, you will enjoy the class and the grade( easy grading...)
The previous rater makes no sense since this guy sounds more faminist and minority spokesperson than anyone out there....in all his exams he emails out the study guide. So, someone postig against this fact knows nothing about this professor & his class. Shame on you & this website for WRONG information against helpful and sincere prof like Dr Pant.
Sociology 122 was easy but his lectures were extremely boring. He gives you a study guide for each test and it has the exact questions from the actual test.

Easy class. Lectures are boring and drawn out, but how interesting can the class really be? Dr.Pant gives ample opportunity to pass his class with extra creditand a study for every test with the exact questions and answers on it. Memorize the study guide and it should be an easy A
Dr Pant's strength: Very helpful (provides extra credit), friendly, sense of humor, knows the issues well,presents examples from all over the globe, not opinionated except in the issue of gender relations, easy grading. WEAKNESS: Mandatory attendance, presents as if it is the graduate coursework
He is miserable. Starts and ends class barely on time. His attitude is worse. It is like I sit through a lecture of how the world (society) is at fault; there is nothing good of human kind. Does not keep to promise dates for handing out information prior tests and essays. He tricks people to come to class: "going to cover something very important".
He was extremely opinionated and is rude to students. It is 5 days before our final, and he has not given any information at all on what the test is over...that should just tell you that he does things at the last minute and is inconsistent. Even me going on to this website and rating this teacher on how bad he is should tell you something.
Likes it. Wonderful way of exploring the social structure we are in. He is against status quo, which i like dthe most about the society we have.
Enjoyed this professor's class, knows a lot and draws parallel between the marriages/ families in the US and eastern world. Soooo easy grade. Go for this class.
My first impression of this instructor was not positive at all. But when I talked to him about my family issue causing trouble with my studies. He gave extra credit to the class (20 its.). With this I could pass with a B. Whenever you have problem and be honest and share it with him, he goes extra mile to help students. Not all do that. Recommended
Easy grade, super easy test (all based on study guide), and 3 two-pages papers plus extra credit for those who need to fill their backpack! This prof challenges to traditional mindsets, but personally if you know him, he is super nice! Thanks Prof. from Zach

Nice guy, but disorganized, inconsistent. Lectures contradict the book. His quiz questions can be interpreted many ways, often uses trick questions. But tests are BOOK based. He emails students late at night with info to study for quizzes. Extra credit helps. Half of the class dropped out. I'm a 4.0 student and worked hard for his A. Don't take.
Very nice teacher, but often time students did not pay attention and some of them start creating trouble. He does everything if you need extra help in or beyond classtime. High recommendation. Take it and you love it.
She is a good teacher, she is very fair. Have to study, you don't need the textbook and you need to attend class. Easy to have A grade. She's HOT too!
I did not enjoy his class at all. Makes us feel uncomfortable and awkward. I don't think he likes teaching. But he WILL help you if you are persistent in asking him to. VERY unclear and can't stay on topic during his lectures, uses poor semantics on his quizzes (watch out for that- SERIOUSLY.)and I never used the book. Have fun... if you can. >:P
In the first week, I was not very comfortabl;e with him. But later I found him to be tremendously helpful and caring professor. He listens your problem and does everything to rescue you. Easy grading and not too much works. Liked him and recommend.I am taking his Mrg and Fam class this fall.
Serious looking but he has high sense of humor. Takes couple of classtime to understand him since you can not judge him from the cover. Once you know the content of his character, you d love his lecture and classwork. I took sociology last semester with B, now enrolled for his Family class. If you take his class, you'll love Sociology as I did.

Very unhelpful, debates questions, has quizzes over information you haven't studied in class, assigns outside of class group project when some people honestly don't have time for that, no make up anything even if you were in the hospital like me. And just overall quite frustrating. I wouldn't suggest this unless you have the time to teach yourself.
This class is so easy. He gives out reviews for all the quizzes which if you memorize the answers in order you can pass. He chooses 8 random questions for the quizzes. If you take notes on what he says and fill out the group review sheet you can do the worksheet. Easy class. This is my 2nd time taking SOC and I went from a D to a B!
Easy class, easy grading, helpful teacher, as a result I got an A for the first time! Go for it. Negative commentators are probably biased with his rules or they are expecting spoon feeding….this is college, come on!
Got B, did not really work hard, single mom with 3 kids. The teacher was extremely helpful and the tests were so easy. Superb in teaching marriage and families class!!! No doubt you will enjoy and end up with good grade. Take it and love it
Nice man. Grades easy and fairly. Found to be the most helpful and caring teacher. Easily accessible, responds email and text PROMPT. Test study guides available. Make up test if you miss the test. Definitely recommend.
Easy and fun class. Review guide provided for the test, one page chapter paper from each chapter and final quiz based on review guide.Accessible anytime by email and text for any questions or concerns. I never liked sociology but this one was different, he made it fun and easy class with easy assignment. I DO recommend it.
Gives you the study guide with everything you need to know. Tries his best to make it easy, comfortable, interesting and at the same time challenging class. Not to much of reading. Most (except few deviants, they are in every class you take) in my class liked him. Take a class with her if you can. Definitely worth taking!
Great professor. Provides study guides for heavily weighted quizzes which he draws directly from for the quizzes themselves. His Final is then taken directly from the quiz questions you have done, so studying is easy. He is interested in his students and wants them to do well. Stop by his office and talk to him sometime. He will be happy to see you
He's ok, I can be hard to understand him at times because of his accent. Nice guy, but never really get passionate about the subject. Wish I had known that the study guide for the test was the actual test, but he never explain that until the last day of class.
His lectures were good and long. He helps out whenever you ask and he tries to grade things on time which he does a good job of that. I took his class twice and that's because the reflection papers are a must to pass. So never miss one! Overall I had fun in his class and don't regret taking it twice
Awesome teacher! My respects to him!!! His class is very interesting and EASY. Quizzes and worksheets are easy and short (only 8 multiple choice questions). He knows what he is talking about. Sometimes he goes off the topic and mixes it with his personal experiences which is ok because its a sociology class. After all the class is an easy A.
Easy class the only thing that was hard was the group project
Good grief, I don't even know where to begin. That class was so excruciatingly boring that it actually hurt me to be in there. He doesn't really teach, he's all over the place in lectures (which have nothing to do with anything at all) Terrible classroom atmosphere, very awkward and bland. His worksheets may as well be quizzes. Wouldn't recommend.
WORST professor I've ever had. He openly talked about abusing his wife & how much he hated the students. His lectures never made it past the first bullet point because he went off on bunny trails. He used data that didnt existwas incorrect. When students didn't understand his assignments he said we would figure it out after we got the grade.
I found this class very easy but I did not like him all that much. He came off rude and didn't make you feel comfortable. Lectures were confusing. Do the weekly papers and look at the study guide online and you'll pass easily. The study guide online is exactly the test questions.
Awesome and very professional! Whenever you need help, he is always available and does everything (even goes off the syllabus if needed) to help his student! Since he is not a typical Sociology professor, I found some students being so biased to him because they find him to be out-group member! Easy grading and has great sense of humor. Love it!!!
Super easy class.
I really appreciated the method of teaching. He had a clear study guide to study from and took quiz answers directly from it. After we had covered the material ourselves he covered it in lecture so it all came together. I learned so many things in this class. Lectures are interesting. I am looking for another class to take of his next semester.

Not to much of assignments and tests, listens to students feedback which you rarely find with most of the college professors. Be honest and show that you are ready to do your best, he will be readily available even to walk extra miles to help students. Liked it.
He is a nice teacher and provides an easy class. All questions for quizzes are taken right off the study guides he provides for you. However, he has an hour long lecture almost everyday. It can be tough to listen to. Also, the group project was a little tough and had tough grading too. Yet, as long as you do the quizzes and study the tests, easy A.
I know a lot people will say his lectures are boring and long. But I feel he was a good teacher. If you actually listens to his lectures, you'll notice he tells a lot of information that's interesting. Just show up and look at study guides and prepare the group project well and you should be fine in this class. I think he's nice and helpful.
I would not recommend you take him for Sociology of Families. Hated it. The papers are easy enough, and the tests are just like the study guides, its an easy class. He just made me feel super uncomfortable, and he was very rude to me, I felt attacked. I did all the work and did pretty well on tests and papers. He just didn't like me, and it showed.
The only good thing about this class is that it is easy. That is the only reason I would recommend taking this course from him. His grading is unclear and he is a real stickler on everything having to be 2 pages, even if you only need to write 2 paragraphs. I got multiple C's because I followed his written instructions and only wrote 2 paragraphs.
Despite me going thru unexpected family situations, I made it with Prof's support. So caring professor, never seen one in college. Thanks Prof, Highly requiemended.

Thank you professor teaching me a new way of looking at people and why they do the things the way they do. You inspired me to think and apply sociological imagination to make sense of social world and human behavior/ interaction. Enjoyed you sociology class ! Thanks once again.
I was very interested in this subject and let down when most days Pant would just ramble about irrelevant topics. It was frustrating because he did very little teaching then when it was time to write papers you would be expected to write about things you were never taught. He'll tell you to purchase a textbook but you'll never use it.
Liked Prof Pant's class even though some of my seniors suggested me to get ready for tough challenge. It was fun, eye-opening class. BTW, I found some students not being positive to him. No doubt you'd love his class ONLY if you can overcome your biases against his ethnicity and skin color. Practice cultural relativism, this is Sociology, guys!
Do not take his class. He is rude and disrespectful to all students. He doesn't let the students finish talking when he asks a question. He assigns 13 papers, 1 due every week.
Can I give him a 0? I don't know if in-class is different, but avoid him at all costs for online. Grading is ridiculous, often takes off points for no valid reason . Not one student was given 100% on any assignment. The questions in the quizzes aren't covered in the book. He tries to take attendance by making you log in 3 times a week. Horrible!!
Dr Pant has the best syllabus. Eeverything spelled out so clearly. He is always available to help and guide his students. this is my experience.
Dr P gave a clear understanding of what needed to be done each week. I took the online class and some of the grading took weeks to be put in. Overall I really liked the class

I had to go through tough family issues during the semester, also lost my part time job I was almost giving up my studies, thanks God, I went to see him and told him the situation, he was so kind and encouraged me to not drop. All the homework he assigns are basically short papers on most of the chapters out of the book. That part can be a little tough to keep up with. 2/3rds of his tests look exactly like the study guide, though. His lectures can be tough to stay engaged with but he definitely knows his stuff. Decent class.
Class could kinda drone on but overall i learned a lot. Grades are paper heavy and the papers are due at the beginning of the week that we discuss that topic, so be prepared to actually read the chapters. He's also very lenient on the due dates of the papers. The tests are easy. The study guides look exactly like the exams.
Online class. Syllabus and expectation were very clear. As long as you take all the practice quizzes, tests are super easy. Lots of interesting information and laid out very well. I had a family matter that kept me from turning in a paper on time and Dr. Pant gave me extra time. As long as you talk to him, he is more than willing to work with you.
If you dont do good on the quizzes (which are only 7 questions) then your not going to pass. Also he said the study guides were the exact same as the tests and theyre not even close. Dont waste your time. Dont take this class.
His lectures aren't over the content but instead his own personal beliefs. He does not grade in a timely manner whatsoever. There's 3 tests (plus the final) you get study guides with 100+ questions on it and he uses those same questions on the test, but it's information you didn't learn. He doesn't give feedback on the paper thats 20% of your grade
Professor Pant is probably the the worst profeessor that I have taken. Everyone say is class is easy, but that is if only he likes you as students. He doesn't care if you want help or not, he simple going to say "I don't know." He keep on talking about pointless things. Nothing is everything his fault, but yours.
Do not choose this professor if you need a Sociology credit. He was horrible. I literally had to go to the dean of the sociology department to get him to give us feedback on how we are doing in class. His lectures do not go along with what we are supposed to learn. Teaches the class like a graduate class instead of an undergraduate class.
His fav in 122/131: "All Koreans eat dogs." He likes to call after 10PM. Does not hand back work, nor grades on time. Been reported 7x, & nothing happens, & he knows it. Teach yourself, reading extensive chpts for the papers. Loses papers (purpose) while grading @ the end. Does not go by Syllabus but will use it against you. He grades by feelings.
This professor is all over the place. He harshly graded a paper that was basically profiling him, and the class average was a 63%. On his final there were questions that were never taught during the semester, and I had to email him several times to fix grades that were put into the grade book incorrectly. Overall, he's a nice guy but wouldn't again
Talks more about himself than the actual class subject. Never taught anything that showed up on the test. He always went over the class time. Literally the worst professor Ive ever had.
Terrible teacher. Worst I have ever had. Gave me grades for literally 4 assignments 6 weeks after they were due and I did not get good grades on them. I didn't know I was forming these assignments wrong because he refused to give me feedback for weeks after.
He is very strict when grading and does not give you any chances to try again on any assignments. Is very specific on what he wants but does not explain it properly and if you don't do it exactly that way you will receive a bad grade no matter what.

I did not end up with good grade but the professor is very knowledgeable and professions. He knows so much but I did not show up in many classes. As a result, could not do well. I am hoping to take his course again and prove that I am better than what I ended up in previous class.
