Can be goofy, but he lied when he said his class wasn't the most boring class you would take
The class it self is kinda boring, hes kinda of hard to understand dur to his accent kinda get use too. helps going to class to do better on tests as long as u study, website has info and quizes to help prepar u
I took this class before & had to retake it. I thought that he made this class lots worse than it was the first time (go for Carlson!). His lectures are almost completely all definitions, which doesnt teach you much! Also, his accent makes him very hard to understand. And he doesn't email you back.
Class is easy if you go to lecture and take notes. The quizzes on the website really help. His study guides aren't very good. Accent, but it's not too hard to understand.
the class itself isn't very hard. all it involes is quizzes and tests on fridays. his notes make the material very easy and simple but the test questions are worded oddly and are a lot harder than you think they will be. VERY boring class.
Great teacher
this is a horrible teacher... you cant understand him half the time and his quizzes are ridiculous... the only way to possibly do well is by knowing all the answers in the study guide book that you buy, other wise you are screwed! get another professor if possible beacuse class at 8-910 is no good!
this class is possibly the most boring class i have taken. try not to get this teacher.
I did really well in his class. Just go to class, take notes, and study what's on the study guides and you're good to go.
He was a good teacher, sometimes hard to understand, but he presented the material clearly. Study a lot for the quizzes and tests if you want anything higher than a C.
Treat this man with respect. He may seem boring and yes he is foreign, but he is one hell of a teacher. If I had him for all my classes I wouldv'e aced everything. (I already did - but anyway). Dr. Goel is the best. He is a funny, caring man. Ask him anything - he will be more than happy to help.
Worst class and teacher of all time. I worked sooo hard in that class, but it was literally impossible to get above a C in that class. If you get a C, just take it and run cuz you will never wanna sit through something so horrific again.
eplains clearly. very helpful. fair grader, but tough
One of the best professors at ISU
Dr. Goel is very helpful. I learnt a lot in this class
Dr. Goel is very fair. He is much more knowledgeable than other professors I have had. Great teacher.
He Just SUCKED all around.
He was hard to understand... Homework wasn't too bad, but his test were. Wasn't willing to curve, even if no one did that well, and wasn't offering extra credit.
Goel is a great teacher. He explains everything very well and you will learn a lot from his class.
You have to go to class to get a good grade. All of the information from the tests are in the notes and even with the notes, it is hard to get an A on a test. Very clear in lectures, but is a difficult topic.
Not the friendliest prof I've had. Difficult to understand at times. Picked on certain students constantly. You do not use the book at all, don't buy it. Grading consisted of 4 tests & 2 quizes which are very difficult. There is no review for quizzes or tests. Attendance not required, but you need to go for the notes. Memorize everything to do well
He has a very strong accent which makes understanding him and the topics even harder. I couldn't understand what he was saying half the time, let alone understanding the topic. Luckily, I had taken Agriculture Economics before hand, which helped me out a ton! Try to get a different teacher!! He was rude when I asked him a question.
Garbage teacher. Even if he didn't have the accent you couldn't understand him anyway because he mumbles. His power points are never properly formatted. Bring your computer to class to take notes, so that you can do something more interesting when he goes on his little rants about nothing.
He's a good teacher. All of things from the power point are on the tests and quizzes. The final is optional if you're happy with your first 4 tests. He has an accent but it's not hard to understand. He hardly uses any math and doesn't use any calculus. You should attend class because he doesn't post notes online. Easy A/B if you go to class.
I think he's a really knowledgeable professor, and a really nice guy. However, he is very hard to understand, and not very good at teaching.
Very Strict at first, but overall a nice guy. VERY FAIR! He gives fair tests and clearly explains the information on PPT slides. If you attend class and take notes this should be an easy B and if you study a little each week you can get an A. Short Answer sections on tests are not too difficult and you get one bonus question on every m.c. part!
greatest ISU teacher
very helpful and clear...extremely understanding
He's tough, but he knows his stuff. If you show up prepared and ask questions, he will help you out. Don't expect a "curved" or "rounded" grade!
Class is a blast. Great teacher
Had him for eco105 and thought he was awful. Much better in a small classroom setting. Do not take a lecture course with him. You will have a difficult time understanding and keeping up with him. In a smaller class, I found him to be an excellent teacher, willing to slow down and explain himself. Chris Mushrush is the only way to go for ECO105.
great class, great teacher
He's really funny and he explains everything in a straight-forward manner. He knows his stuff. Highly recommended.
Rigid, inflexible, unempathetic.
Worst class I have ever taken. I literally learned nothing. Entire grade based off of tests and quizzes. Makes it really hard to get a B or A. Textbook was useless. Hated it! Avoid if possible!
This class was very straight forward. Take notes, read over notes, and you'll do fine. He does some practice problems during class which help see how much you really understand.
Super hard to understand, textbook is useless. AVOID THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING FRUSTRATED!
In my opinion, he is the worst teacher I have ever had. His accent makes him very difficult to understand. He writes pathetic tests which are nearly impossible to ace because his understanding of economics is that of a child. If you read his notes and tests analytically, there are many fallacies/mistakes. Take 105 with a DIFFERENT TEACHER.
Might be one of the worst teachers I have had. His test are impossible and his study guides dont help at all. Tells us that he wants all of us to do well, but he doesnt care at all.Find another teacher. Grade is made up of 4 Exams
Pretty difficult class. Its hard to understand his accent and he goes pretty fast in lecture. Class always went a full 2 hours. Grade is made up of 4, 25 question tests which are pretty difficult. Only take this class if your going to attend every lecture and study a lot
This class was impossible to actually pass. His accent was distracting. His tests were very critical thinking. By Far the worst. Lowered my GPA. Worst class in college by far.
Try not to take him, incredibly hard to get an a or even a b. he has 5 exams drops the lowest (which is nice) but the exams, including the final which is comprehensive, are only 25 questions. Incredibly hard to cover all the material for that amount of questions.. but yeah, easy workload just a tough class to get the good grade in
The worst teacher I have ever had in college. Hard to understand and says "Yeah" after every sentence. The study guides are pointless when it comes to the tests. Avoid this teacher at all costs.
Rajeev let's you know what he expects in the syllabus (he is very short & to the point). 4 tests all year, nothing else. If u go to class & take good notes you'll have the info u need for the tests. He highlights the most important info in class. Gives study guide the lecture before exam, which is helpful. Tests are a challenge. Very funny dude.
Absolutely horrible. Dry, boring lectures that were nearly useless when it came to the tests. Told us not to buy the textbook, but then tested us on things that were not in the notes. Study guides were useless, entire grade based off of 4 tests. His class is frustrating, dull, and uneducational; avoid it at all costs.
Dr. Goel is a very knowledgeable professor. He is willing to help if you take the time to ask. Everything he says will be on the test so take proper notes. Econ is not an easy class so spend time studying for this course. It is not impossible to get an A in this class. Everyone that bashes Dr.Goel did simply not study enough for the course.
Horrible, couldn't understand anything he said at all because of a very heavy accent. If you ask him questions on the test he says "My question makes perfect sense" which no it doesn't cause it is written in broken english. Take someone else.
Goel is by far the most disorganized, confusing professor I've had in college. I'm a 3.5+ student and I'm struggling to keep a C. His notes are vague and his thick accent only worsens that problem. The material in class is night/day from the tests which are complex and difficult to study for. Avoid this guy. He'll ruin your GPA, good student or not
Worst teach i have ever had at ISU. Cant understand what he is saying half the time, and very disorganized. First class where i have ever gotten a poor grade. a D! incredibly rude and not helpful at all. he wont answer questions half the time because he thinks they are easy questions. makes you feel dumb. worst teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Incredibly difficult class - lots of studying if you want to get an A. Entire class grade is based on tests. He gives study guides for everything but the final, but questions on the tests are sometimes worded strangely. If I could, I probably would have taken a different professor
You can rarely understand what he's saying.
You can barely understand what this man is saying, and he words questions on the test so much different than how we learn it in class.
If you are an A or even B student, and want to keep those kind of grades, then DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. His tests are insanely hard. Some have 6 choices with the last two answers giving you the "none of the above" or "A and C" bullcrap. This class was agony. Sure he has a lot of knowledge, but he should not be teaching.
Horrible. Cannot understand his accent, test questions are really oddly worded. I am a really good student and did awful
Worst class ever went to his office hours was a waste of time he does not help at all!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
AVOID THIS TEACHER! His accent is thick enough to make lectures difficult to understand. He is lazy, not giving people access to his lectures, being unavailable outside class for help, and not even fully utilizing time. his tests are absurdly hard, and you will have to fight to pass, getting an A seems near impossible. Avoid him, I wish I had.
Do not take this class. It is very difficult. Take it with a different professor. I had a 4.0, but no longer because of this class. He is very difficult and impossible to understand and his tests are extremely hard. 20-25 question tests, and every question is impossible. You must try extremely hard to get a C-.
Had Goel a few semesters ago but don't understand why he gets such a bad rap. He was straight forward and studying was easy to get a B. Seriously people open your earholes everyone is overreacting about the accent. The only time I couldnt understand him is because he sometimes mumbles.
I had Goel for Economics and it was not bad. EVERYTHING you need to know is covered in class. I basically wrote down everything he had up on the screen and would go over that before our exams and it worked out well for me. Attendance is major! He does not provide notes outside of class and I did not use the book, it was optional.
Do not take this class with Goel!!! Showed up every single day and took notes.....still received a D!
Not a bad teacher. Not a great one either. The accent was a little difficult to understand but by far not the worst I've had. Tests were tough but not impossible. Definitely go to class!! Do that and take good notes and you'll do fine.
There are no attendance points but if you don't go to class you will be behind because he covers 2 hours worth of content. He gives you a 15 min break which is essential because the class is boring. His accent is hard to understand and he is no help when you go in for office hours. It is a hard class if you don't take notes and go to class.
Goel rants all class period and emphasizes key points in a silly accent that I don't think his TAs can even understand. Tests don't correlate with notes and his whole class is based on your best four out of five exams. Good luck if you take him.
DO NOT TAKE GOEL! I have gone to class everyday, and take notes on everything. I study over my notes everyday a week prior to the test and still get a D+ at best. Class based on best 4 of 5 tests and the tests are impossible to do good on. Don't take this class unless you don't care about your GPA
Going to class is really important! There are 5 tests total-he takes your 4 highest test grades(final is optional if you're content with your first four tests). I can see how people can get confused. Makes jokes about himself all the time which makes class better. Just make sure to study your notes carefully!! No need to buy book.
Very tough exams, study study study! and ask A LOT of questions
I loved Goel. He was an excellent teacher who covered any material you needed to know for a test in his lectures. Attendance is crucial since he does not post his lecture notes online. Don't waste your time buying the text book, unless you plan on skipping class. GO TO CLASS, really study your notes, and you should do well on the exams.
Went to every lecture, took notes, studied really hard for every test, and barely got a C in the class. Final is insanely hard so try to get a C or B in the first 4 exams because a 27 question test on over 200 complicated concepts is almost impossible to study well for...
This guy is rough. Economics actually interested me and I actually enjoyed learning about it. But Goel is not very good. Sometime his accent is hard to understand with his high and low pitch voice he uses. I went to every class, sat in front, took all notes. Studied a lot for his tests. Got D+... he words questions weird. Find another Professor!
I can honestly say that Goel is one of the worst professors I've ever had. His accent is hard to understand, he refuses to give students his email address, he was always late, there were only 200 points possible in the entire class... The list goes on. I would highly advise everyone to avoid taking any of his classes.
Had Dr. Goel for 105 and 240. Definitely go to class, and take good notes. He's not the easiest teacher, and part of that is because he doesn't spoon-feed students the material, first he lets you try to figure it out on your own. And in the long run it really helped me to understand it. He's absolutely hilarious, if you can understand his accent.
There's 5 50 point tests, the lowest one gets dropped. Good luck if you don't go to class or understand thick Indian accents
TERRIBLE!! He's very hard to understand because of his accent and even if you memorize every word of the notes the tests are still hard. Only 25 questions on 4 tests and the lowest one gets dropped. He says you don't need the book because apparently he knows more which makes it even more confusing.
One of the hardest classes I have taken in college thus far. Economics is generally a tough class and taking it with Goel does not help. He doesn't really care about his students and his tests are insanely hard. I studied my butt off for every test and the highest grade I got was an 80. Lucky to have gotten a C.
He only grades you on 4 exams that are extremely hard and confusing. Good luck.
I am the type of student who is easy to please but this professor is the worst!! I mean the worst! First off, he does not give you his email because apparently the answers to our questions are in the syllabus. There are only 4 exams with 25 questions 2pts each... NO WAY TO PULL your grade up but an extra credit 3 page paper worth only 5 points!
ECO 105 is a hard course since it contains both Macro AND Micro economices, but with Goel I thought he did a great job. The notes are not online meaning you need to go to class. Goel recognizes this and waits for you to finish copying down each slide. Study hard, and be prepared for the course and I bet that this will make you love Economics.
Your grade is determined by 4 tests (5 tests but he drops the lowest test score). He can be hard to understand because of his accent. He knows the material and uses the whole class period to teach. Notes taken in class are pretty much the only way to study for tests. In order to pass you have to work hard.
Professor Goel isn't as bad as he's made out to be. Yeah, he may not be the most helpful professor but the class is very easy if you actually go to class and take notes. Test questions are very basic and if you use his study guides then you should get a good grade. If you don't go to class, then good luck. Don't buy the $300 book.
Save your GPA and don't take this class. He doesn't give you his email address so it is impossible to contact him, the only grades are four 25 questions test and one 200 question final, study guides are absolutely useless because all it is are the headings to the powerpoint slides, and I feel like I studied for the wrong test single every time.
Difficult to understand and tests are the only grades. He drops one but if you miss class you'll still fail. MUST ATTEND LECTURES OR YOU"LL GET BEHIND VERY QUICKLY.
Professor Goel could quite possibly be the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Please do not take this class even if it is the only Eco105 classes available. Wait a semester and make sure you get a different professor. His english is horrible and the tests are not even on the material he teaches. You have to be an economics major to pass.
I'll keep this simple. He is not a professor you want to have if you have to take the class. Lectures are boring and you can just see people wanting to leave 5 mins in. Worst part is the grading, only 5 tests, he drops lowest one. The stuff on the test isn't whats on the review. Final is optional/comprehensive with no additional review for it.
Go to class. 4 out of 5 exams are taken for your grade, that's it. Possibly a 5 point max extra credit paper. Hard exams, hard to study for them.
Attend all the lectures and take good notes. Then make note cards of all the relevant terms and know them well for the test and you will do well. There are 5 tests including the final and he drops the lowest grade. No other assignments besides a small extra credit essay. Do not try to use your phone in the class because he will call you out.
I attended every single class and took every note to the T and I still performed poorly in this class. If you really want a challenge when it comes to Macro and Micro Economics and understand a very thick Indian accent, then I recommend this class for you. For what I assume are the many others who are just taking this for a Gen Ed, don't take him.
One extra credit assignment. Can get up to 5 points, most people get 2. You better understand the material or you won't pass. Not nice.
your final grade is based on the 5 exams you do. You get no homework or graded on anything else so if you mess up on your exams then you will fail.
Showed up to every class. Took notes exactly the way he described them/ had them on the power point, still got a C. This is the lowest grade i've had in college. After studying all the terms and thinking I knew them, the test questions would be written in a very difficult way that makes you apply the terms to real world problems. Overall hard class
Exams are your entire grade for this class. The only other points the rest of the semester is a single extra credit paper worth 5 pts. It's a 3-4 page long paper but do it, it saved my grade by a percentage. Basically this is a tough class weighted 99.9% on exams so study. Lectures are not mandatory but you'll want to go.
STAY AWAY, he does not post the notes online so you have to go to the lectures. Only points in the class are 5 test which he drops one. One extra credit paper that is only worth 5 points which I don't think anyone received a 5 for.
Honestly, people just don't like the fact that he puts nothing online. If you just sit in lecture and copy his slides and listen to what he has to say, not only will you get an A, but you will learn a lot. His tests generally aren't too hard and usually only have a few curve ball questions. He does a great job of applying lectures to the real world
Honestly very poor teacher in class. Will not let a class use a cheat sheet on the tests. Would not curve test grade when the class average for it was 58. He acts like the class knows everything. He talks crap about the students offers help but the help he offers is useless. Complete tool in class. Hope the school fires him as a teacher.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. There is not one good thing I have to say. First of all he has a hard Indian accent and uses a microphone so there is an echo. Impossible to understand. His reviews have nothing to do with the exams. Whole grade is based on exams. I have done everything in my power to pass and getting a D-. Says rude comments in class.
Class is not fun at all. Wouldn't recommend. Only grades are exams, and they're quite difficult. Got mad when I asked for help. Just not a fun guy and I wouldn't take his class again if my life depended on it. PRETTY TERRIBLE
Terrible teacher that I would never recommend to anybody ever
Should have looked at his review before taking, worst class ever. If you take your academics seriously, this class will take a huge toll on you. I studied for this class so much, and still got a C. He tries to trick you on exams, and the only advice he gave for the final (which is out of 26 points covering 14 chapters) was to study the notes
The hardest class I've taken at ISU. I recommend reading over the notes and textbook as much as possible outside of class--makes a big difference on tests. Do the extra credit even though it's not worth much. He does a poor job explaining and connecting topics so I basically taught myself, but I learned a lot. Accent was difficult to understand.
From being highly inaccessible, to having material like the syllabus, and mandatory reading be confusing, hard to find, and having zero willingness to work with students he seems committed to failing students. Even with TA, for a summer class he refused to communicate by email, and would only allow exams to be open for a few hours.
He's a really good, smart, funny guy. Just not a great teacher. Really dry and boring. Easy class tho, just take all the notes and watch Khan academy videos for anything you don't understand. Really pretty simple, lot of people complain about him but it's easy.
He doesn't actually teach anything, literally just summarizes wikipedia pages. I've had to teach myself the entire course, he isn't approachable, and your grade is based solely on exams, good luck.
what ever you do, dont take this professor. seriously!!!
I had my class notes imputed onto my calculator for exams. However, non of the questions are based on the notes at all. He says hes bad at his job which hes right about that. Does not care about students hes only here to do research and get paid. I cant wait to be a teacher hes the perfect of example of the teacher I don't want to be.
Rajeev might be the worst professor at ISU. He constantly reminds his students how bad he is at his job and goes off on tangents completely unrelated to econ. The content of his tests are completely unrelated to the material in class. There is only one optional assignment in terms of homework points. Good luck if you think you'll pass this class
If you're on rate my professor looking for a sign: drop this class, take something else, and try for a different professor next semester. You can't understand half of what he says, making lectures useless. No study guides, no final review, zero resources. I taught myself the course on YouTube. Do yourself a favor and drop him.
Easily the worst educator I EVER had. Brags about being the highest paid professor at ISU and how he's basically untouchable due to his tenure. -No hw AT ALL -Pretentious to students w/ questions ("do you have a real ?, we already went over this") -Cancelled class before the final, no review whatsoever (1-10ch btw) DONOTTAKECLASS ECO102
(1/3) If youre on this website looking for a solid professor to take for ECO102, please take this post seriously. Have to split it up into 3 parts.. Never in my academic career have I considered talking to a superior about the realistic expectations of a 100 level class... but regarding this class especially with this prof, I had to.
do not take goel. i didnt miss one class, I studied 20+ hours for each test, 30+ hours for the final and still got a D. His office hours are 30 minutes ONCE a week. Really, do what you can to not take him. I have nothing good to say about him. Hands down the WORST professor I have ever had. He also doesnt curve/round even when 75% of the class fail
In all my years of being a student, Prof Goel has been the worst teacher I've ever had. Grade is straight up 4 exams, 1 gets dropped. 25 questions each. Super hard exams, not even sure he knows the correct answers to some of the questions. Shame he's still a teacher at ISU. Almost positive half of the class didn't pass
Prof Goel is one of the worst professors ever. I went to every class, had tutoring along with two study groups, and did the extra assignment in order to receive an A. When I went to office hours to review my exam, he yelled at me when I asked him to explain an answer. I rated a 2 instead of a 1 because he rounded my grade from an 89.5 to a 90.
Most of the difficulty for this course came from it being my first econ course. He definitely has a good sense of how to improve your study habits and such, just ask. Don't use your phone in class, if he sees you using it a lot he'll probably deduct a percentage of your final grade.
He was awful, his 105 class was graded by 3 exams and optional final. Every answer option on the tests were extremely similar to each other, because so many people kept failing or dropping his class econ 105 was broken into eco101 & 102. I would study outside of class and go to every lecture and got a 72. This class is my literal only C in College
This guy is the worst teacher I've experinced in my life! The fact that someone hired this tyrannt is baffling to me. Get ready to teach yourself because any questions you ask him will fall on deaf ears! I would recommend any other teacher in this university besides him. Rati is deaf but atleast he cares about his students.
I'm warning everyone now not to take this awful teacher. Doesn't answer questions, doesn't care, and often times backtracks on what he says in class. How he still is a teacher at Illinois state shows me how poor the administration is. You can all thank me later.
Horrible, I got forced to take him again and he's still the same sucky professor. He expects everyone to just know the material like we aren't students. he made us write a paper on his super specific old paper on a topic we as students won't really know. Rude when answering questions and still has vague test questions. Now he's the only 2 Cs in col
I had to take this class online due to the pandemic and I can say he is by far the least empathetic professor I have had so far. He formats his tests so they are taken in a linear format where you cannot go back to previous problems, so if you skip one you are screwed. 90% of the grade is tests and the other 10% is a paper. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Professor Goel puts very little effort in and has the stalest and boring lectures. I learned absolutely nothing and felt like I wasted time by being at his lectures. There is no homework to apply the content. All he has you do is take exams.
Lectures are straight off the PowerPoints, give or take a few extra things. You should be able to memorize the info and be able to read the graphs and do well on the exams but somehow I consistently got a 68. No homework, only thing you are graded on is the exams so if you are a bad test taker good luck. One extra credit assignment. Hated it.
In my whole academic career Ive never had a teacher as uncaring, unprofessional, and nonresponsive as Dr. Goel. You receive 4 tests today, 3 count as a grade. No homework, and the major points are posted in power points. Prepare to read and learn on your own, Dr. Goel is worthless as a professor. Would never take again, and Im going to avoid him
Grade is made up of 4 tests. He doesnt respond to emails, so if you are confused about something in class make sure you discuss it in the lecture because you wont be able to reach him. Hes got a thick accent and is kind of hard to understand at times, but there is no homework or group assignments just the tests.
The Professor is hard to understand because of his accentt! The course is just plain hard, only grades from the 4 tests you take (including the final) he dropped one of them though (including the final). He offers 6 points of extra credit and does not reach out to help students. Very strict to the syllabus teacher and will not give out free points.
Online Tests, lecture consisted of lots of rambling.
Professor Goel is hard to understand and can't explain a concept differently if you don't understand. Not a great professor and lectures are very note heavy. He really just doesn't have his ish together.
very lecture-heavy, tests are online, and his lectures consist of a lot of rambling
Passionate guy, lectures are extremely hard to follow and are a drag. Lots of notes, if you attend and take notes you'll probably pass with a B or better. The whole course is graded by 4 exams, and a single extra credit assignment.
Hard to understand during lectures, makes sitting through them for an hour fifteen absolutely unbearable. Graded by 3 tests and one extra credit assignment. Wouldn't recommend if able to be avoided.
You can stare at a wall and learn more about economics than "learning" from him. He's a nice guy but his lectures are terrible. Incredibly unorganized. Displays information without actually teaching anything. He expects you to be an economist at the undergraduate level. Surprised he was ever hired to teach, as that is not what he does.
Only 200 points available for the whole class and 180 are from the 3 exams. Lectures are confusing and he is not good at clarifying questions. Learned more from my one day reading the book than I ever did from attending his lectures. No homework or attendance grades but the exams make or break your score.
Barely accessible outside of class, lectures are hard to follow as he has a thick accent and is unorganized. He jumps from multiple power points and goes off on tangents. He gives a couple tests and quizzes which his "study guides" are just things that may or may not even be on there. Be ready to teach yourself everything before exams and quizzes.
The worst professor I've ever had. He's the only one that teaches 240 that is required for economics. He teaches severaly class and most students fail. ISU does nothing about it. They do not care as long as they get their money. If you're an econ. major do not go to here. Whole class is 200 points. Two exams and one quiz. No curve/extra credit.
His lectures were borderline unfollowable. He jumps between different PowerPoint in the middle of lectures. When asks clarifying questions he just makes it more confusing. He is barely accessible outside of lectures to answer questions and I learned more by googling the topics and learning it on Khan Academy than from his lectures.
To succeed in this course, one must begin with an excellent understanding of the fundamentals of economics, knowledge of calculus (including correct notation for work shown), critical thinking skills, and test taking skills. Dr. Goel is a passionate, knowledgeable lecturer, but he gives insufficient prep and review for his exams. Challenging class.
Couldnt understand him at all. The only reason why I passed this class was because all his tests were online. I only showed up to class 3 times. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Has a very odd way of explaining things, and his accent is very strong. He had a previous student come in and explain his teaching style for us and give us tips to help us, didnt really help, just wanted to show us "yeah someone passed" save yourself the trouble.
Class is not hard, but as someone who attended nearly every lecture I don't feel like it was necessary as they really aren't that valuable. You can easily teach yourself the material and do well on the exams without ever actually attending. Grade is based on three exams only.
