Terrible. You can't understand anything he is saying more than half of the time. He starts off class not telling you what you are doing, and just starts writing on the board. I can't even tell you what concept I'm learning right now. He tries to make jokes but ends up being borderline with them. You will use my math lab and the book during class.
Horrible professor. Just do not take him. He has a very thick accent, which makes him difficult to understand.
Half of your grade is through my math lab and he doesn't even go over most of the material in those sections. The other half is through tests that you take in a group but even with a group, it is still very hard to pass.
He is not a bad teacher. He is pretty funny and extremely laid back. Homework is worth 30% of your grade and attendance is technically not mandatory, but you should definitely go to class. Tests are with PARTNERS but they are kind of difficult. Available at all times which is extremely nice.
Most of the grade depends on the homework, but you have all semester to do it. Everything he teaches is in the homework, if he doesn't go over it he won't make you complete the homework. Can be silly and nice if you give him the chance, but the class is mostly him doing examples on the board. Always willing to help if you don't understand.
He goes through the material so slowly and uses problem solving techniques that make the material way harder than it should be. Homework assignments are online and are between 50-80 questions, all of which he will never go over in class. The material he goes over in class doesn't make any sense, you're better off just reading the book on your own.
Hard to understand. He expects you to do a lot of homework questions by the end of the semester even when the class itself isn't what is in the homework. He likes to skip over a lot information. Yes, he does allow notes on tests , but when he doesn't teach the right information then that doesn't help.
Prof. Barnwal, while a very caring professor, gave far to much homework and was very unforgiving about grading. He hands out his attendance sheet and then allows you to leave and will still count you as present. His lectures were very long and did not tend to successfully teach the students who stayed in class.
All the homework is online and is by the makers of the textbook. You must buy the textbook in order to get the online code for the homework. Do the homework early and often as it can boost your grade in the end. 2 tests and another assignment that counted for 7%. Barnwal teaches slow and you should only pay attention if you really suck at algebra.
Great guy
Class was very disorganized. 3 take home exams, two in class partner exams, and individual final. It is very hard to do poorly in this class. However, he is not a good teacher. Lectures are all over the place. He gave us the syllabus for the class in the third week. Very sarcastic. Does not answer emails. Take home exams were participation points.
Horrible guy
ATTEND CLASSES!!! Now that is out of the way, he is an okay teacher. Calculus 3 is a difficult subject, and he does it no favors. He teaches with the assumption you have mastered all your previous calculus classes and know trigonometry better than your own religion. Nice guy.
I took pre-cal in high school and had a terrible professor. This man somehow managed to be worse. He tries to be funny, but he comes off as mean. He is terrible at answering questions. He will do an example on the board, say ok? & then move on without any further explanation. If you can teach calc to yourself, then I suggest him.
Dr. Barnwal is an interesting character, to say the least. The syllabus wasn't released until two weeks after class started, he told us the wrong textbook and then refused to answer any more questions about it. He would send us emails asking us "where our brains are" and that we were a horrible class. Do NOT take his class.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He never gave us a syllabus and when I asked where it was, he responded by asking me "do you have a brain?" his conduct is rude and unprofessional calling his students dumb after only one class. He can't work zoom for online classes and his textbook information was screwed up from the beginning. For your own mental health Stay Away
Wish there was an option to give him 0 stars. Horrible professor, extremely disrespectful but is pushed off as "a weird kind of humor" by the school. Do not take him. Ever. You will regret it. If he's the only prof available, take it another semester.
Horrible teacher, disrespectful man.
By far the worse professor on campus. Please flee as far away from this man as humanly possible. He made me hate math. He does not teach clearly AT ALL and will belittle and call you names when answering emails (and in person so beware). This is the type of class environment that makes you feel unwanted and stupid.
Prof. Barnwall is very honest. He says at the start of the semester that this will be a assisted course where he will help but its mainly you. The majority of the bad ratings come from people who just didnt do their work on time and blame him for it. Barnwall is very understanding and will work with you if needed. Great guy, super funny, and care
I was very surprised when I saw his ratings. He is such a nice and understanding professor. This class is very easy to pass, as long as you just do the homework. He does a great job explaining things, and is open to help if you ask. And attendance is not mandatory
Professor Barnwal is great. Very easy A and laid back class.
best math teacher, funny, cool guy. lowkey alot of homework but you will pass if ur not lazy. this guy should have a higher rating but people are just lazy. would take this class again. tests are easy As.
ok, here's the deal with prof. barnwal: he is not a bad professor. i know u r looking at his rating like - huh?? but hear me out. 1: he's not rude, he just has boomer humor. 2: this is literally an EASY A. the homework is all online and open ALL SEMESTER. 3: ppl who don't like prof. b just don't show up or work. 4: the exams are open ALL DAY.
Professor Barnwal is a great professor for people who are good at math. If math isn't your best subject, you will quickly be left behind in his class. He moves quickly and not always clearly. There is a ton of homework that is all online. Homework also makes up the majority of your grade. He is a nice, funny man but I wouldn't do take him again.
was my favorite teacher! TRUST THE PROCESS
Do not take his class. If you cannot get a different professor for 1630, literally just push the class off for a semester, especially if math isn't your strong suit. He assumes everyone already thoroughly understands the material and he doesn't know how to teach. Homework has very little to do with what he "teaches" anyway. TONS of homework, too.
He's a sweet and funny man that cares baout his job. His style is a bit older and the bulk of the work is on pearson. In this class, what you give is what you get. If you do your homework and stay on track you'll do just fine. a lot of people give him crap, but he's really nice and doing his best. you can't expect too much if you aren't trying.
If you arent lazy you can pass this class easy. Just do the math lab when it is assigned
This class isn't hard. You have all semester to do your assignments and are all online. He is just a terrible professor. If you don't understand math try and take a different professor. He means well, but he's very old style.
Dr. Barnwal was by far my worst experience in college so far. My experience in this class almost made me drop out of school all together. I ended up dropping the class because there was no chance I could pass. He assigned everything online and requires attendance but his lectures dont line up with any assignments I always left class more confused.
Most assignments are online and arent too difficult, but they do take hours to complete.
Not the hardest class in the world but a TON of work to do over the course of the semester. Majority of it is online and through MyMathLab, has unlimited attempts at each problem, but it takes quite a while to complete. He doesn't have anything on his D2L which is a downside, but he is easy to contact.
Dude was actually so funny and cared about your grade. He genuinely wanted you to succeed, he went out of his way to tutor me one time. I recommend going to see him in office hours or just if you need help, reach out. If you try, you will get an easy A. Laugh at his jokes, he appreciates it. Also his emails are HILARIOUS From: Einstein/ smart girl
Professor Barnwals class isnt easy but is doable as long as you pay attention in class. He assigns a lot of homework and it takes a long time to complete. The tests also take a long time to complete but you can attempt questions as many times as you need.
Professor Barnwal assigns an ungodly amount of homework, but it is due at the end of the semester. The tests are easy because you can do the questions over and over again. Professor Barnwal himself isn't great about helping students. It is hard to reach him, especially if you have absences, or if your grade in his class isn't great. Beware!
He is a good professor, but the class is also quite difficult. I will say that it is calculus after all, and it is not easy to grasp anyways. A lot of online homework that does not flesh well with the rest of the class at all though, Cengage is a horrible platform. One of the better math professors at MTSU.
if you seen his name pop up on your schedule, run. he's a great guy and has some good jokes, but...yikes. the tests are open note, but the notes he has you copy are honestly gibberish. LOTS of homework too due at the end of the semester. photomath and/or chegg will be your best friend. he even shows off these ratings as a joke. so just don't do it
All homework is online but each section takes abt 3 hrs. He's probably sitting there reading this review to his new class laughing, but don't be fooled this guy is horrible. He'll say "drop the class" at the beginning of the semester, DROP THE CLASS! He says its not a lot of homework if you pace yourself, only true if this is the only class u have.
Terrible is an understatement. Don't take this guy unless you can teach yourself the material. He says at the beginning, " it's not much homework if you pace yourself", and then he gets behind and crams 4 sections into one week right at the end of the semester. I did every section as they were assigned and still managed to get behind. STAY AWAY!
Yeah your screwed if you in his class already, period. He does not know how to teach at all. He says he teaches from the book but does not explain the steps thoroughly and after each lesson you come out more confused than what you already were. The tests suck what's on the test he don't even do examples over. You basically teach yourself for hw sec
Unfathomably Based. Will tell you how it is straight up. If u can't handle it then just drop the class. Dr. Barnwal is a real one fr, certified math wizard. My only complaint is that he probably won't respond to your email and puts nothing on D2L. Would take again though.
Unprofessional, unprepared, and unequipped to teach math effectively. Be prepared to hire a tutor or teach yourself from the book. He should be fired and replaced by someone who actually cares about teaching.
Watermelon hits knife, or knife hits watermelon.
He basically rereads the book to you and not in a good way. It's hard to follow along because he doesn't do a good job of explaining how to work out the problems. I've basically taught myself from looking up answers, using the textbook myself, and using the homework he gave us online which gives us unlimited attempts to get it right.
Lectures lacked engagement and interaction, resulting in a monotonous environment. This lack of student participation made focusing and absorbing material challenging, undermining the learning process. Feedback on assignments was frequently delayed and, impeding students' ability to understand mistakes. Timely, detailed feedback was not there.
Where do I start with Dr. Watermelon? His lectures are very dry and he barely engages with the class, not to mention terrible with communication. He never answers his emails. He doesn't show that he cares about his students and he's definitely gonna show this review to his future classes and just laugh about it. Idk how he's still employed by MTSU.
I hope the department finds this before Rajesh shows next semester's class. Drop any class you have with him, I am in 1530 however there isn't a Math 1530 option on here for him. Rajesh refuses to teach and is not accessible outside of class. Email Dr. David Chris Stephens (math department chair) and demand he be removed from teaching at MTSU.
I liked his class. His lectures were nice. It's just that the student needs to understand his methods and strategies and focus in the class rather than being on phone and just ignoring him.
Your apathy for what these reviews imply and how you enjoy your students tearing you to pieces is quite sadistic! and you parade them around? how strange. you kinda lurk and watch your students instead of teaching most of the class. I don't need to address the class itself, it was a math class with a weird professor, need I say more? drop the class
Dr. Barnwal is an amazing teacher and will definitely put the effort into his students if he sees them doing the work and putting the effort into their studies. He is extremely nice and professional. You always see students hanging around after his classes to talk to him. He is great at explaining material, but he can definitely see through excuses
Professor Barnwal is a great professor. If you put in the work, he will also put in the work. As he showed us his reviews during class, he is an honest person. Do your work, show up, get a good grade. You cannot be lazy in this class. He is actually a professor that cares for you to learn.
He lowkey goated ngl. I think this guy is underrated for sure. He's basically andrew tate but if andrew tate didn't go to jail and instead became a math teacher. Hes funny, good at teaching (for the most part) and pretty mogged asf. Absolute legend in my opinion. Just do your work and talk in class and he will like you!
He is a good professor if you put the time in to learning what he is teaching. Dont be one of those students that do not apply themselves, then blame the professor for the grade you get. Because the majority of that bad responses are from those kinds of students. He actually cares, lets you take the test in pairs, has homework open for the duration-
Barnwal is a fantastic math professor; he keeps it very real. He tells you what will happen if you don't show up and always encourages his students to get better grades. Tests can be taken with partners and are open note. Homework is open all semester, plenty of final study material. If you show up to the class and take notes you will get an A.
Great Professor. Communication goes a long way with Prof Barnwal
If you put in the work and actually participate in class, you will pass it easily. He has a good sense of humor, and you must be able to understand some of his sarcasm. The students who struggle in this class are the ones who do not do their online homework, fall behind, and then turn around and act surprised when they fail the class.
He sends out an email at the end of every semester complaining about his reviews then comes to RMP and self rates to make his rating literally not a 1.0
this man is the goat. he funny and weird
Class felt like I was going in and coming out understanding nothing. He grades the tests harshly and doesn't make any sense when he's teaching. No one in the class knows what is going on. I would not recommend him to anyone. He seems very intelligent and cool outside of school but other than than that I would not recommend his class.
I'm only giving 1 star because that is the only way he will actually read it lol. I actually miss this class and the people I met while bonding over Barnwal's oddness. Once, he wouldn't let me open the blinds because he is "like the devil and wants it dark"... Just laugh at his jokes and do the hw, you'll be fine. Sincerely, double trouble in front
Crying right now. Literal tears running down my face. Assigned tons of online homework and it's on pearson, so its extremely picky about answers. I learned basically nothing and it's mid-November. He complains that he knows the class will get a bad review and doesn't do anything to change it. Overall not a very good teacher, wouldn't recommend.
I loved everything about this class. He always was smiling and making jokes. He loved when we would joke back with him. It made the class much more enjoyable.
Overall, he is a nice guy. However he often wanders off in class and wastes time just sitting and staring at everyone. He will complain that nobody has completed the online homework, but not give us the proper teaching and materials to do so. He's a nice person, just not a great professor.
The professor makes the class more complex than needed. He will read straight out of the book, not teaching you anything, then expect you to do 70-90 homework problems that have little to nothing to do with what he "taught" you in class, making you have to teach yourself new concepts. Nothing on the tests reflects the homework.
Barnwal is clearly very intelligent in the field of math--I do not doubt that whatsoever. What I do put to question is why he is completely un-reachable outside of class, why he does not announce homework, and why he skips over material that will be used on the final and on regular exams. Just read the textbook, don't listen to lectures.
In all my years I've never met a more awful teacher than this one! He is bad at communicating, none of his emails make sense, neither do the tests. He also doesn't let us email him. He made the class way more complicated than it needed to be.I am confident I would have done better in this class with a different professor. Bane of my existence. -69
His lectures are pointless but he rarely posts/emails any announcements and instead says them in class so don't skip too many lectures otherwise you'll miss out on vital information for the tests. Cheat on the memorizing portion if your memory is awful like mine and for the love of god GET A GOOD RELIABLE GROUP (also make a gc for your group).
Don't let these ratings scare you if you are a good student. If you care he cares and if you don't he does not care about you at all. Just participate, talk to him, and do the work and he will be very helpful to you. The homework sucks and it's a lot of work and you really need to take notes and pay attention. Doesn't respond to emails lol!
Actually awful. Avoid this class at all costs.
This professor is great person but he does have an accent so be careful of that. He usually lets you work in groups in tests so get familiar with a few people in class. His way of teaching is difficult to understand but 99% of what he says is in the textbook so you have to teach yourself half the time. Just do most of the homework and you're set!
Dr. Barnwal is a very helpful professor and just wants you to pass and do the best you can. He always is willing to help during and after class. Definitely recommend!!
He's a mid professor. Taught directly from the textbook, makes sarcastic weird jokes, but lets you work in a group of 3 during tests. He complains no one did the hw (its 60-90 problems on Pearson) He sent out an email complaining abt his reviews titling "Bad teacher in da house" If u just do the hw & get a decent grade on the tests you'll be fine.
Lectures not thrilling, but overall a great guy. You can pass if you do the work. Show up to class or you will not have the correct calculator instructions and FAIL horribly. LOL.
Don't trust all these reviews. He is actually such an amazing professor and such a sweet guy! He truly cares about all his students. If you put in the effort and do your homework and take notes on his instructions on how to solve problems, you will do just fine in the class! He truly wants to help you learn, so showing up to class is important.
He is very sweet. He can be very harsh and sarcastic. Tests are taken online and outside of the classroom. make sure you do your hw and you will be fine
I was afraid of this class because of the bad reviews, but it's actually not bad! Personally, I didn't enjoy the lectures because the course is not difficult if you have taken math up to pre-calc. Also, you MUST have an 84+CE for this class since it's focused on how to use your calculator rather than manually solving problems with equations.
I can tell why some might not like Dr. Barnwal, but I'm not one of them, he bought us candy recently just for showing up to class, he's hilarious and actually helpful and knowledgeable in the subject. He does seem a little disorganized sometimes (kinda unclear on grade criteria/due dates) but really this class is an easy A and entertaining.
As a person, he's great. His lectures are funny and he is very nice. He bought my class Reese's. However, he will send a bunch of rude/accusatory emails and messages for no reason. He is mostly unreachable outside of class and provides no syllabus. He assigns too much homework compared to what he teaches. Be prepared to teach yourself.
He has a bad reputation probably because he can send aggressive emails and is heavy on homework, but he's a pretty decent guy. Just pay attention and maybe teach yourself sometimes because he is calculator heavy rather than doing it by hand. But he is kind and funny. Attend lectures, participation is big.
There was no meaningful syllabus the class was extremely disorganized from the start. Almost half of the homework that was due was never taught in class.
If you are willing to participate in class, you have NO REASON to be worried about Professor Barnwal's course. He comes off as intimidating, but he just wants his class to interact with him. I never felt judged for giving the wrong answer because he was always willing to help me. (P.S. His scary emails are hilarious to him.
Im only giving him a bad review because it's the only way he'll see this!! He's so funny and chill. Great teacher, don't be afraid to take his class. He gives good enough time to finish the homeworks and the tests were literally just like hw assignments. Brought my class Reese's. cool nonchalant guy.
He is so sweet! He lives by "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force them to drink." After one of the tests (3 total and all were online), 3 people got 100% and he offered to get us Starbucks in the library, which he did. However, you can not understand him. Expect to teach yourself. Just show up and turn in the homework super easy A!
Professor. Barnwal is funny and a good person. He even bought cake for our class. Unfortunately, lectures were not engaging and he is hard to understand. He teaches out of the textbook, but if you teach yourself you will easily pass. He tends to assign too much homework compared to what is being taught, and didn't send syllabus until the 4th week.
Class is calculator-based and lecture heavy, so if you're someone who struggles with math and needs a very hands-on setting he might not be for you. But tests/hw is all done outside of class and due dates are super manageable; as long as you listen when he gives calculator instructions you'll be fine. Always willing to answer questions and funny
Quite literally, if you do the homework online you will be fine. There are unlimited attempts on the homework questions, and the tests are the same format. Show up to class and try to take notes and he'll appreciate it. He's just a little guy trying to do math while forcing college kids to listen to his absurdly boring lectures. I really liked him!
He's the most hilarious professor I've ever had. He'll be hard on you for not doing the homework in a timely manner, but otherwise is very informative and helpful. He was very willing to re-explain concepts both in and out of class. Also, we had cake one day and that was rad.
To be honest, I don't understand why many people give such bad ratings. All of the homework and tests are online except for the final test, and you get as many chances to complete a question as you would like. He is absolutely hilarious and just asks you to complete your work and show up. He always makes you feel seen. I loved him!
Professor Barnwal's math class was legit the easiest class i've ever taken. If you show up and do the homework you'll do fine. I can understand complaints about complicated math classes due to the slight language barrier, but i'm convinced people complaining about 1010 are just lazy, it's legit so easy.
