The course material itself is not easy, not the Prof. Organic Chemistry is just a really tough course, but only if you don't commit enough time to it. Take out the time for it and you'll be fine. However, if you're taking a heavy semester/year, be prepared to neglect some other courses for orgo. Prof Iyer is a real help in the course though.
She is a very sweet, lovely, and amazing professor with a cute accent! Shes very down to earth and ready to help you at any moment! Really understanding! She always let us go early! Plays funny youtube chemistry related videos to class. Overall, good professor!
She is helpful, approachable, very passionate about orgo, cares about her students and tells funny stories during lecture. A bit disorganized tho and her marking schemes for the tests are unfair i.e. she takes off marks for stuff that the question never asked us to do but she does give a lot of hints on what will be on her tests!
she isn't interesting in-class, she makes easy tests, that's great! takes her 2-3 explanations for most to understand. For the first half, i had leznoff and he taught the chemistry much better. Iyer teaches, but i don't grasp the chemistry. also doesn't help with that stupid course kit, she also didn't post stuff on moodle she said she would.
She is a lovely professor! Shes very down to earth and understanding! Interesting class but if you have the time for orgo, only then take it, cuz it requires alot of effort.. The course material is extremely difficult but the prof is good!
I absolutely love this prof. She made the exams so easy. If you need to take Organic Chem, take it with her.
Poor explanations, goes too fast. The textbook is a better source for explanations. She is a nice person though.
Poor at explaining and she rushes through difficult concepts. Very nice lady, and she wants those who work hard to do well. She is approachable, and gives you hints on what's gonna be on the exam! this course is very tough, it does not matter who the prof is
She is highly unorganized and the lectures make no sense. She goes through topics fast. The book is your best buddy in this class. I recommend you not take a class with her as she messes up your brain.
Has no plan. She doesn't teach at tall. Just clicks on slides and talks to you as if chemistry is a story and you have to imagine three dimensional structures you've never heard of! Sorry but this course needs a new course director. both profs. are making York a hell for anyone interested in chemistry. btw extremely irrelevant and hard exams
She's a very kind person and will try her best to help you. She does a ton of questions from past exams in class and explains pretty decently. She's a bit hard to understand at first but you'll get used to it. She has an (Indian?) accent so be aware of that. The tests are fair, same level of difficulty as the textbook (it's chem, take it seriously)
Not very clear at all, rushes through important topics often. Would not recommend. Attend the classes + tutorials only if you're caught up or ahead of the material, otherwise you'll be lost. Attend them cause good practice. Rely on textbook mostly as this prof has poor handwriting, moderate accent and poor explaining skills.
Dr. Iyer wants you to do well more than anything else. Her lecture style was quite erratic at the beginning, but she straightens out and her lectures become really good as the year goes on. She spends a lot of time focusing on material that is likely to be on the test, and her review classes help a lot. I would choose her section again if I could.
Really fair prof. My marks so far in this course are actually pretty mediocre, but I can safely say its because I haven't been putting 100% of my effort into it. She's a very fair prof, she gives you all the information you need, teaches it well, and then tests you on it, no tricks, no BS. She does occasionally get carried away and talks super fast
she's a really good prof. if you didn't take science in high school it might be harder than i found it but she explains everything really well
i had her for the second part of the course. she's a really nice prof and cares about her students. she moves quickly but she's very direct. if she says know something or go over something or practice, it will be on the test/exam. tutorials will save you. careful how you answer question though cuz you will lose marks for silly things.
Put the time in and you will be fine. GO TO CLASS AND WRITE EVERY PROBLEM SHE DOES DOWN. She takes exam and test questions right out of the problems she does in class. Bring your textbook, course pack and notebook to class and take notes in all 3 as needed.
She's very approachable and wants to see all her students succeed. I particularly found her tutorials to be helpful. The only complaint is that she often jumps to different slides and it makes it a bit harder to organize notes. Do all the homework!
This was a very interesting class. It was easy to tell that professor Iyer loves what she does. However, she is a little unclear and disorganized. She's somewhat approachable but you'll get a sense that she's rushing you. Tests very easy and the text was high school easy. Take if you want an easy course. I have no science background & got an A.
Iyer knows her stuff, but is bad at teaching it. She doesn't use slides as the basis for her lectures - she just reads from them. The only benefit to showing up for class (unless she was showing a video) was that she would point out stuff that would be on the test. Her heavy accent made it difficult to understand her. Also tech illiterate.
Dr. Iyer is a great as a person but one of the worst professor at yorku. She is very funny and cute but at the same time half of what she is trying to teach goes over the head. She is not organized and jumps from one topic to another freely, leaving the students utterly confused! She is too excited to teach that she does not end up teaching anything
if forensics intrigues you then you will be grateful for Dr. Iyer; she's amazing! Knowledgeable, passionate, interesting to listen to and she have a beautiful accent that's lovely to listen to. A brilliant chemist, she's able to speak in laymen terms so everyone understands the scientific lingo. Tough maker but what do you expect from a genius. :)
Dr. Iyer is a nice person but her content is confusing at times. I would suggest attending all lectures and tutorials to keep yourself in the loop as when test time comes around, you'll be really confused trying to catch up on weeks of material. E-mail her for help. The web-based assignments were annoying but helpful for practice so do them.
If you're a self-learner and show up on given dates you will manage. If not, be ready to bombard with emails and get misleading answers in return. The course moodle layout is very unorganized, the prof changes deadlines on the spot and confuses them, and missing a makeup means a 65% worth exam (even though I was promised 3 times I'd get one)
Shes a beautiful person and everyone i know loves her.
She is knowledgeable, however is difficult to listen to for the duration of the class. She tends to sound like she's giving you heck for the majority of the time, as though she's mad at your for not understanding or something. There was only two tests and one report in this class which is good, but expect no help & a bad attitude if you ask her.
didnt go to class once and got an A. all you need is OWL and the files she posts on moodle. my recommendation is to take owl serious so you know how to do all the chemistry-math related questions well ahead of the tests, then use the night before the test to memorize all the material science questions she will put on it and to do her sample tests.
+ fair tests and grading criteria + clear and loud + cares about students and explains everything - lectures drag a bit
lectures are confusing as she jumps around a lot and is not organized AT ALL, but tests are relatively straight forward and her 'test review' tells you exactly what to study/know so it makes up for her rambling in lectures.. learned the entire course through the textbook/youtube videos.. overall not awful, but not great either lol
She is amazing!!! if u r taking orgo, definitely take it with her. tests are fare, her questions are all about what she taught in class. And she is a very nice person. Enjoyed her class so much!
I did chem2020/2021 with her in the summer. Her midterms literally are nothing like the textbook. Come to EVERY class and write down all her problems. That's the closest you'll get to her test questions. Oh and the final exam is absolutely brutal. And I'm not exaggerating. This course made me lose some of my hair. Being dead serious..
Forensic Science is a very interesting, but she managed to make it very boring. She reads off the slides and doesn't know how to use her mic pack. After about a month I stopped attending classes and still passed. The case study and report in particular are easy. Just please don't take the course expecting to get much out of it. That was my mistake.
Hallo, I'm here taking time off my "shedule" to write a review on Aunty ji. It's an easy course but she always shows up late and takes a long time to set up. She tends to jumble through topics very quickly and might not take time to explain these concepts clearly. Understandable, but will often ask IS THAT A SOUND, when nothing is happening
Grading is random, hope for a good TA
Forensic science is very interesting however she makes it hard to attend lecture. She is all of the place when she lectures and talks very fast which can make what she is saying confusing. The essay is very easy and straightforward and her test are fair.
She knows her subject very well, however she is also the living proof that knowing and teaching are different. She has no course plan jumps from topic to topic very fast, has no idea what is going on in the lab. Going to lectures are really unnecessary. Easy A if you do the OWL homework and learn the course material from textbook and Youtube.
In my opinion she is a decent professor and she seems to want her students to do well.
Dr. Iyer teaches orgo very well and goes through plenty of examples for our benefit. She explains everything thoroughly and makes sure we know what to learn and which sections in the textbook are testable. Class attendance is a must. Definitely easy to approach and I would recommend her class to those who find O-chem difficult or confusing.
Worst professor ive ever had, extremely rude and unorganized she doesnt know what shes doing 90% of the time and she makes the exam extremely hard compared to the easy midterms dont take this professor for anything
Disorganised, rude, hard to understand, bad time management, can't use technology. If you have to take her class make sure to always show up and write down the examples, practice those religiously.
She was often jumping from subject to subject and was disorganized. She is very knowledgeable but I don't think she can project it the way she wants to. Her tests were very hard and I advise you keep up with the readings. I failed my final exam but still managed to pass the course, my TA was very understanding.
Just dont call her teacher or miss
Taking this course was the best academic decision I have ever made. Such a fun and interesting course. Dr. Raji is such a good prof. Her lectures are easy to understand and NOT CONFUSING AT ALL. I still hate chem. but i love you professor Raji.
At times goes to fast but can ask to slow down. Be prepared to write a lot in lectures; She does questions that are on tests and gives hints to help on examinations. Can be a little difficult to hear if she forgets to put on microphone. Re-explains if asked. I enjoyed having her she made it easy to get a good without a lot of work
Dr. Iyer is an awesome prof. Her teaching style is a little different than other profs but she is very passionate and dedicated to her job. And it really shows. She will repeat things over and over, which reinforces your learning. The questions she does in class is reflective of the tests.
great professor, you can't really understand her in lectures but she gives great example questions that are quite similar to the ones on her tests.
do not take NATS 1575 forensic science with her. all she does is gonig through overly long and boring lecture slides and show you the tv documentaries "the forensic files". she expects you to remember the name of the episodes and each bit of detail in them. she just uses already existing assets in a way you could learn more by watching FF at home.
She's the worst gives hard assignments from sections she never even teaches
I've seen people doze off in her lectures. That being said, she is a very nice person and she knows her stuff. Tests aren't too hard either.
The course is relatively straight-forward with prior chemistry knowledge. Textbook use was encouraged but honestly, just do the questions (don't have to if you know how to do it). DO THE PRACTICE TESTS. 80% of the questions are the same with different numerical values. She does have an accent but know the material, do the questions, very fair mark.
I took her for into to forensics. This woman literally reads everything off of her ppt slides which have copy-paste sentences from the textbook. Barely explains anything properly & 65% of her lectures are videos. Puts 0 effort in actually "teaching". Very rude when approached for help. Tests & exams are extremely difficult for a 3 cred course.
Boring lecture but her final and midterm exam was literally questions pulled from past ones, just practice them and you are good, assignments and labs straightforwards and easy marks.
Scatterbrained and inaccessible. She's all over the place and only reads off of slides. Unfortunately, she still forces you to come to class because she shows videos and has interactive short quizzes every class that count for your grade. She doesn't remember due dates and doesn't explain anything clearly. Also refuses to give extensions.
worst prof ever. very unorganized. terrible at explaining things. poor timing and lecture planning. expects everyone to understand everything immediately and gets angry if you don't. ended up teaching myself the entire course on my own. only good thing is tests are similar to previous years which she provides you.
I am so surprised at all the negative reviews for Raji. She is a little difficult to understand but please don't believe other peoples' horror stories. Dr Iyer LITTERALLY tells you a long list of whats on the test before the test. No one here can deny that. She gives you everything u need to succee. Organic chem will always be hard, dont blame her.
She's a very good professor in my opinion. Clearly states what will be on the tests and examination
The lectures made it very clear what was going to be tested. Did many examples in class. She posted old tests and the tests were based off these old ones, and they were all very fair. You just gotta practice the material and it's a pretty fun course. Took her class for both 2020 and 2021
In-class online quizzez(iclicker, you have to pay for it). She is not a good lecturer but tests are easy. She posts slides online which are basically summary of the textbook (librarygenesis .net !!). Sometimes she will explain concepts on the blackboad but exams are MOSTLY textbook. Besides forcing you to buy iclicker its not bad. 1 research paper.
One of the nicest and most approachable people I have ever met in my experience at York for years. Although orgo is hard, she teaches very well and goes above and beyond in explaining if you ask her. Very clear on explaining what you can expect on tests, especially final. Slides suffice. Study the notes and past tests/exams and you're good to go.
She just tells you how to pass your test but never explains the concepts, sometimes I think she doesn't understand what she teaches
I don't know why there are so many good reviews about her here, maybe they're old reviews because this prof was the worst. Half the time she sounds angry, is unapproachable and reads off slides every single class. Her tests are impossible to get a good mark on because of how specific the questions are. Do not take this course, save yourself!!!
Dr. Raji is a great professor. She is a tough love kind of educator, where you need to study and be on top of your game to enjoy the class. The NATS 1575 class I took with her In got a 92%. Student are just sometimes irritated that she only has 2 exams in this course. Which makes the exam worth a lot. I like this prof. Study hard, dont talk crap.
If you like watching forensic files, this is the class for you. Rajeshwari usually starts the class with lecture notes then finishes with a film which are used on exams. She is a great prof and I would take another class with her. The assignments are easy as well.
This professor is not very understanding when it comes to helping. Labs are difficult depending on the TA and manuals are often very brief leading to low marks. It is confusing to follow along with this course. The advantage is that tests are mainly from past ones or slides, nothing too complicated; straight-forward concepts.
tbh idek it was hard understanding her and she expects you to know everything.... I just wish I didn't take this course
Have her rn for Orgo. You can tell she is working hard, but the content is pretty much thrown at us.
DO NOT take any classes with this Prof. Literally save yourself. I am a A student and I was failing the class I had with her. I have never failed any class in my life! She is rude, unapproachable, and cold. Her tests are impossible to ace and she reads off slides every class. Do yourself a favour and don't take a class with her.
Dr. Iyer is extremely caring for her students, and truly wants all of her students to succeed. She definitely has the tough love approach, but it is clear that she cares for her students. She provides great practice questions during class, despite organic chemistry being a heavy course. She is an amazing professor!
Professor Iyer was alright with her lectures. She knows what she is talking about. The online homework is a lot, so try doing it on time and try to be ahead of the lectures. The tests are easy. Read her lecture slides and tutorial notes and you'll be fine. The labs are intense, so be prepared for that
Her TA's all gave people different grades for literally the same answer. She's not able to manage the class and people just end up talking over her on the Zoom call. Course content is way too detailed and advanced for non-science students and she does nothing to make it easier because she just reads the slides as fast as she can.
Worst prof I've ever had. She is so rude to students, often sighing LOUDLY whenever someone asks her to further explain concepts or making some offhanded comment about how ppl are holding her back. I was required to take this class so i didn't have a choice but if u do have a choice between her and another prof, take the other.
Took this course during the SU 19 term. I didn't get a good grade mainly because of my lack of effort , but when I look back, this course was really easy and I didn't take advantage of it. Her lectures are literally a copy and paste from the textbook and the homework assignment answers are easily found online.
Dr. Iyer went above and beyond to help us understand the biochem content. She provided ample resources for learning and even held 2h+ tutorials before every exam to help us prepare. Her exams and grading is very fair. You can tell she really wants students to understand and supports in any way she can. She is receptive to receptive to feedback. <3
Dr. Iyer's lectures are difficult to keep up with if you have not read the material before hand. She does jam pack her lectures but she does honestly care about her students. Always replies to emails in a timely manner. Always has tutorials that usually involve a practice question that you will see as a short answer question on the exam.
Speaks very fast, but understandable. Lots of examples which is good. overall good prof, gets her job done.
Raji is so understanding and tries her best to make life easier for her students. She may be blunt when she speaks which comes across as rude but she is one of the most accommodating professors I've ever had. She is so knowledgeable about the material and gives a lot of examples.
EASIEST CLASS exams and quizzes were all open book. weekly quizzes, 2 exams, case study all super easy and 1 report, I put 0 effort into this course and had a 90. She explains exactly what you need to know on the exam review, only thing I would watch out for is if u end up with a hard TA, even then 80+ guaranteed. quizlet is your bsf in this class
Wish I had more instructors like Prof. Iyer in my first year of engineering at York. She's to-the-point and cares about her student's success in the course, often staying a few minutes after lecture to answer student's questions. She also respects our time, by giving us study outlines for tests. Also, online labs were interesting/informative.
Raji is amazing. She is so accommodating and really wants her students to do well. She will post practice questions and host tutorial sessions before every exam. Everything she tested came from the textbook and lecture slides so there were no surprises.
She is very unorganized, never even gave us a concrete schedule. Most of the time we'd find out we had a quiz due that day not because she'd tell us but because someone would check last minute. All of her lectures were just repeating exactly what's written in the textbook. The quizzes were super easy, but the TAs take off petty marks in assignments
Prof. Iyer's lectures tend to be convoluted and difficult to follow. She covers lots of material in each lecture and reads the slides too quickly for students to be able to absorb the material properly. Her OWL assignments are very tedious, and there are too many of them.
Lectures are too difficult to follow in one go. Any questions you may have about content stay unanswered. Not worth if you're looking to get a transfer credit. 1/5
absolutely awful. the lectures are not clear and highly disorganized. her pace of teaching is also really fast, you won't really understand anything. the tests are also not easy, despite doing the textbook problems.
Professor Iyer teaches in a confusing way. Her course structure is usually very disorganized. She does her best to be reasonable with deadlines, as well as find ways to explain concepts to students, but there are many times where you will end a lecture feeling confused and stressed. The labs are hard and do not align with the course content.
Raised voice at students for asking questions on the first day of class Second day of class she allowed questions in the beginning but responds with What what now Started referring to students questions as disturbances Teaching style is allll over the place. Doesnt go into much more detail than whats actually written on the slides
If you know you'll be teaching fully online, take some time to organize the eclass! Though the material itself is not too hard, the chapters are LONG and there is never any specification as to what you should go over so you end up reading all the hundreds of pages anyway. Frustrated because i love the subject but hate this teaching style :(
for literally every single topic she says "you learned this in high school so we will just quickly look at it." she uses this to skip teaching every single topic, meanwhile the whole class is saying we haven't heard of it. we ask her to slow down every 2 seconds. at least she's not as bad as Brendan quine tho. He is the worst prof in Canada by far
Some professors should not be teaching, and this professor is one of them She read the textbook word by word during the lecture Perfect demonstration of "Higher Education'
Her lectures are hard to follow, they're 2 hours long + online. The content is not bad however, the way she teaches is not the best. Instead of covering the hs basics at the very beginning like Lewis Structures, she would teach that in the mid of semester and instead would teach material science bs at the start of the course.
Where to start. This class is online, but she has 0 technical skill. The tests are so hard that the average out of 300 students for the 1st one was 44%. She has no clue how to teach, she just reads off the slides. Going to class is a waste of time, just use organic chem tutor.
Horrible prof hates questions blames students for literally anything she cant seem to explain a concept without getting mad. We had 2 midterms so far the averages have been below 50% when this happens to your class she will be "disappointed in the class" She never replies to emails and when she does and says she will "fix it" and forget youemailed.
I don't know where to start, there were so many red flags in the span of 2 lectures. She is the only professor for CHEM1100 and is unable to function properly. She taught the semester online due to COVID-19 safety, but decided to have tests with over 400 people in person?? Her lectures are a lot of her talking to herself...
I couldn't have asked for a better professor as she genuinely cares about her students, is accommodating, and replies to emails almost immediately. She explains concepts pretty well with lots of repetition and tutorials. She also outlines exactly what's going to be on the tests. If you STUDY HARD and come to class, you can do well too!
Don't even dare ask questions in lecture, she will lose it on you
Prof was actively hostile to people asking questions, and raised her voice at students numerous times during lecture The course webpage is also very cluttered, and that makes it hard to find things
She yells at you if you ask her questions during the lecture or at any time. The number of spelling mistakes she makes, made me reconsider if she actually went to school or not. During the in-person exam, she was nice but very unorganized just like her eclass page. Although the course content was interesting she made it very hard to learn.
Prof. Iyer shouts alot when students don't understand, questions she puts on the midterms and exam are quite difficult, she asks for details but don't provide it during review/lectures. TA: if you have Devon Davis, you might as well drop the course because he is very rude and just someone who hates his job overall. don't recommend taking this couse
Preps us well for tests and exams. Provides students with tutorial sessions where she does the question on zoom while making sure everyone understands each step. Provides previous test which the current test is based on. Tbh I barely attended lectures and I still learnt many of the concepts from her tutorials lol
If you want to do well in her class, check out and do the past exams she posts. She also does review sessions a few days prior to the test to have an idea of what questions/concepts will be on the test. Not many professors do this, and this is generous of her. Make sure to attend lectures so you don't fall behind and you don't end up cramming.
She is very average. She is generally good but sometimes she is unreasonable. For example, our online quizzes always take the latter attempt, if you get 90 on attempt 1, doing attempt 2 is basically a bad idea because if you get a 70, she will take the 70. Completely unreasonable. I am in summer school so I assume she does this to mess with us
Her tests are very difficult. She gives praxtice tests and they help but not really. If youre aiming for an A, you have to UNDERSTAND eevrything in the slides, if u only do the practice test youll get a 50-60
Her course is designed to fail you. In order to pass you need 67 on the lab section and 50 on lecture.
Her teaching style isnt good. She rushes through her words and constantly jumps back and forth between topics. Like she discusses topic X in slide 1 and topic X is put on slide 10, and then she jumps back to slide 1, creating a confusing mess of a lecture. Also her tests are very difficult.
Her lectures are okay but messy; you'll know exactly what to note down after a few chapters. She replies to emails instantly. I've talked to her quite a bit outside of class; she's very caring and wants the class to succeed. Her assignments are annoying but really good for feedback. Would take CHEM 2021 with her.
In general, this course is very difficult. This was my second time taking this course and having Dr. Iyer this time made it so much better. I finally understood concepts and she gave a ton of practice problems that were very similar to the test questions.
Just practice the previous year's question papers
Amazing professor, very helpful tutorials, responds to email asap. Exams are hard but fair, you need a good foundation from orgo 1 (epoxides/Grignard rxn). Do most of the textbook problems and it's a guaranteed A.
This professor is not professional at all. She would constantly yell at us and would spend more time worried about getting only her content done and not answering questions. Be prepared to waste a good part of your day watching "videos" where she does 0 analyzing and just recaps the video. I learned more from the textbook than I did from her.
Always yells at students when asked questions about the content. Never provides details about content, just teaches of the slideshows.
Nice prof however, I typically stand at a high 80 average but I nearly failed this course. Her class is primarily based on reading off slides and watching forensic files. I got 90+ on all quizzes, assignments and reports, but failed both exams. THE EXAMS ARE VERY CHALLENGING.
DO NOT TAKE THIS. Her lectures were too vague. No one barely attended her lectures because they are 2 hours twice a week and for a first-year student her classes are not engaging. She shouts when you ask any question. She cannot work a computer for the life of her. She acts hostile. Her accent makes it difficult to understand what she's saying.
She is one of the most unique professors I've had. She is just trying to introduce and relate later materials to make them familiar to the students. This is a bit overwhelming, but that is the nature of organic chemistry. She really cares about students, puts lots of effort into remembering names, and promptly replies to emails with any questions.
Fair exams, listen carefully to things she repeats/emphasizes during lectures. Tutorial questions are highly reflected in the exams. Granny-style professor :)
Rajeshwari is a very caring professor that actually helps her students. She provides the class with old tests from previous years which are very useful in passing her tests. I would highly recommend this professor to anyone taking first year engineering.
Despite ending the class with an average grade, Dr Iyer is a really good prof. She is very clear and covers everything you need to know in lectures. Her assignments are clearly explained and generally easy. Attendance is important but not mandatory, just attend if you really want to learn and succeed.
Don't take this course during summer especially if she is the prof. midterms are 'ok' but the final exam she make it worst. She only focuses on the students that she knows, the entire class is invisible to her.
-didn't let students ask questions and would yell when a reasonable question was asked. -was unorganized -had a strong accent and was hard to understand
Horrible teacher. She does not know how to teach or explain anything. I will not recommend taking her as a professor. Does not co-operate in any given condition.
Prof cant really teach. The only reason you really attend lectures is to know what chapter she is teaching, which of her hundreds of slides she is using, and to know which questions are on the test and final, which she only states in class. If you read the textbook, and do the old test questons and questions from the slides, you should be fine.
The « lectures » are basically her reading off slides taken from the textbook and then showing forensice files youtube videos for the remainder of the class. Her slides are just copy and pasted from the textbook and I could just read the entire chapter instead of attending the lecture. She rushes while reading slides too so just read on your own.
Dr. Iyer's lectures are pretty much taken from the textbook, so you don't have extra lecture material to study. It's helpful because you can use it to synthesize after reading a chapter from the textbook. She also responds fast to emails, even on the weekends. She even makes it clear during class that she will include specific topics in the exams.
Very rude and abrasive Reprimand in front of the whole class when we ask questions for clarification She knows her material, but is not very willing to meet people where they're at when the content is brand new to them
Uninspiring lectures, read off the slides word for word. When studying, refer to textbook primarily, and make sure to watch the videos showed in class since they're covered on tests. Interesting enough material, not a great course.
Very difficult to understand and follow. She will assign a ton of textbook reading. In her lectures she goes over everything too quickly and in a way that is difficult to understand. She also yells at students for asking questions or seeking clarification.
Awful professor and class. You need to buy a $85 textbook to complete the quizzes. Attendance is graded, but the professor just reads the slides (which come from the textbook), does not provide any insight, and plays forensic file videos for half of the class. Lectures are boring and not engaging. Forensic science seems fun, but don't take it.
There online quizzes and whatever material she gives in class you could literally DIY at home. Only reason to go was iclickers and videos that are apart of the tests. I took her finals I felt like everything I was taught only half of that was on the final exam. Midterm wasn't too bad, I would take this class only if there aren't any options left.
She can teach fairly well but the reason everyone does well is because she shared her previous midterms and finals, and the q's on tests are basically the same. Her final is the easiest out of everything (allowing free grade boost since its worth 50%). Her slides are pretty helpful, though her lectures are just her reading off the slides.
Would not recommend. Very difficult to understand and will yell at you if you ask questions in class. Average for our midterm was quite low and got mad at the class. Although the course content is very interesting, she made the course almost unbearable.
Exam was extremely difficult and professor went through her slides very fast, not clarifying information
She is very passionate about her job and chemistry, she is quite fast when going through slides, although this is due to the material being heavy and detailed. She covers what you need to know for tests/study in the slides. She does i-clickers & mentions things for tests that arent in the book, study, read the book/show up to class & u'll be fine:)
The class was acc interesting..she on the otherhand was rude, fast and very dismissive. Yelling at students for asking questions. Would never every recommend. Esp for non-science majors.
Iyer does enjoy teaching CHEM1100 i think, she gives us sample tests and exams that appear mostly the same on our actual ones, but her teaching just appears not as good as i thought, and sometimes i don't get what's going on even i do pay attention; she does organize slightly better, but she really needs to engage the whole class better in some way
Raji isn't a good professor since 100% of what you're going to learn in the lectures is exactly off the slideshows; she doesn't add anything useful, which is why I stopped going and read the slideshows from home to familiarize myself with the content. But she posts practice midterms which align with the real versions, and all content is easy/fair.
she only reads off slides and doesn't explain more, but she goes through it really fast. You'll be fine as long as you go through her slides and put in effort, but show up to class cause she does iClickers for attendance.
W profesor. She posts everything online such as slides or previous lectures which made studying very helpful. Very understanding when emailing her. I was not a fan of the revel platform but it is what it is. Overall if you don't slack off you will be fine. Would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is not the greatest at science and math.
My class was supposed to be an in person NATS, but due to the prof. personal matters, it was online for a total of less than 6 classes (or so). tough class, personally I had to study a lot. Chem, bio, math. I love forensics, but I would not take this class again. Did not like.
