I'm sure Raji is a nice person, but she is a horrible teacher. It's her first year, first quarter, so I expected some bumps in the road, but nothing like what has actually happened. She is difficult to understand (quiet and a thick accent), and never makes her expectations or due dates clear. She laughs at me when I ask questions during lecture.
don't take her
Raji is enthusiastic about the subject, which makes the class much more interesting. Her accent can be difficult to understand, but she works hard to communicate with and engage the class. She's very well organized and provides great review material. She encourages questions and participation. Highly recommended.
I have to take this class to get into Human Anatomy and Phys. and thought this class would be easy since I took it in highschool...boy was I wrong. She goes over every single detail in the book. Her accent is very thick and talks fast. A lot of outside work is needed to succeed!
WARNING!! If at all possible avoid taking BIOL&160 from this professor. She is new to teaching, her first quarter was Fall 2010. In our last two lectures of the quarter she covered 3 chapters that weigh 40% of our final exam grade. Even though throughout the quarter she consistently covered 1-2 chapters a week. Final is cumulative, no midterm.
Raji is a really great teacher. A little hard to understand because of her accent but it was a pretty easy class. As long as you READ THE BOOK and not just once or twice but three or four times..you will get an A. The final was easy...40% of it was the exact questions from previous tests. Rarely any homework. However, not a class for lazy people.
Avoid this teacher for bio 160! The class was way harder than it should have been. I only got a C because I spent alot of time studying. Not worth the work go with another teacher.
I was worried at first thanks to all the bad reviews. Discovered if I studied her PPTs, did BioPortal MCs, online videos & reviewed Raji's study guides, then I did fine on quiz & exams. (I hardly read the text.) So many EC opptys that 50% of class had an A going into final stretch. However, you must attend all lectures & labs or you'll be lost!
I loved Raji. She is such a helpful and passionate teacher! I highly recommend her as a teacher. I have never enjoyed a teacher so much, because she teachers because she is so passionate about biology, not because she has to. It's awesome. I have absolutely no complaints. You won't regret it! Just do what you are supposed to do as a student. :)
Raji was the best teacher I've ever had! Was never into science before, but I want a career in it now, thanks to Raji. She geniunely wants you to exceed, and will help you learn the material. She wants to set her students up for success in their next classes, so she makes the material as relevant as possble. I go to her for help in bio 260!
Raji was absolutely fantastic. She is sweet and very passionate about biology, so do go to the lectures and lab! There are weekly quizzes on one chapter or two chapters. She gives you all the resources to pass her class with an A. There are assignments that you'll have to do online every week. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone!
For a person with only a few years of teaching, Raji did pretty well! Her accent is strong at first, but you'll get used to it after a week or so. General biology is hard, but Raji does what she can to help her students achieve a good understanding of the material and a good grade. I would recommend taking her class, but only if you're motivated!
Raji is amazing! She really loves biology and it shows through her teaching as well as her eagerness to help you succeed if you seek out her help. Earning an A in this class definitely requires you to study everyday. There are weekly chapter and lab quizzes and a comprehensive final. Be sure to take notes during class and study the power points.
Raji was an amazing teacher! Extremely passionate, prepared, and thorough in her lectures. You MUST attend class, and keep up daily by reading the book if you wish to do well. Follow instructions: If she says study for 12 hours a week, do it! ( going over power points, quizzes, flashcards, reading the text) Do the work & get an A -simple as that!
I'm in her class right now, & I enjoy it a lot. She really wants you to succeed in her class, & that alone means a lot! Keep in mind, in ANY Biology class, it entails a lot of work/memorizing/understanding concepts. She gives U all the tools U need to accomplish this. Tip: Do her "Learning Objectives", watch posted videos, & do the ALL E.C.!
Overall an easy teacher, however I do have cons. (1) Grades you down on your tests for things she didn't even ask for on the test. (2) Even if you argue with her showing that you are correct, she will not change your grade. (3) First day of class; she said she was friends with the Dean, indirectly telling us that we shouldn't go to him to complain.
SHE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER! I would really recommend her class! Biology is a hard class due to the material but Raji clearly explains it! She always asks us if we understand it and will continue to explain it until we understand it!USE THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND VIDEOS. THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL. SHE IS GREAT.when you don't study as hard, you wont pass
I absolutely love her class and would take it again!! You can tell that she loves biology and teaching and she made me want to learn more! She's very friendly and loves to talk and interact with students during class. She's very clear and helpful, but does have a slight accent. Assignments are easy, but make sure to study well before tests.
My favorite science teacher ever! She is not an easy grader, and we learn more than what is in textbook. But if you were really interested in Biology and worked hard, you would learn a lot! She is very helpful and like questions from students. She cares about student's performance and will give you credit for doing well on test.
Offers extra credit throughout the quarter and gives study guides for each quiz. Attendance isn't mandatory but it makes a difference to go! Raji is brilliant and knows her stuff. Very helpful.
If you like studying all weekend and learning the nitty gritty about intro level bio, this class is for you.
I loved Raji! She is a great lecturer and made the material clear and fascinating. She is tough but you really leave knowing the material. And that is key when you get into A&P. Plus she's super sweet and approachable. Extra credit for perfect attendance!
Raji will make sure that you understand the material. She is willing to go over things if you don't get it. There is room to mess up, so don't worry if you do really bad on one test. There will always be opportunities to bump up your grade. She does expect you understand everything, which makes sense because there's plenty of resources for you.
expects you to know literally every single thing from the book or her lectures, which isn't hard to do if you study. her tests are lengthy but she gives great study guides that go hand in hand with the test. she offers so much extra credit and even some late passes for assignments. willing to help out of class but isn't always available. great prof
She's by far the best Biology teacher I've ever had in BC. She's very cute and sweet. She's like your mother, wants you to succeed, and motivate you again and again. She gives a lot of extra credit, a take home exam, her exams and quizzes are not easy at all. You have to study a lot, but that's basically what biology is.
Raji is so nice and very passionate about what she teaches! She gives you what you need to do well-I have an A right now and it isn't too hard if you put in adequate effort into doing the hw and studying for exams.
Raji is a super nice lady! Im not sure if she fit me as a student.I struggled in the beginning of this class. Don't walk into this class thinking you don't need to study. STUDY!! She is a pretty fair professor. Gives extra credit, homework is worth probably most of your grade, labs she is pretty easy going. She is willing to hep outside of class.
I love her and her class... super helpful and understanding ... organized and clear on what she expect from her students... I will take her class for sure. she is one of the best
Raji is an incredible teacher! Her lectures are very clear and understandable. She mostly uses power points during lecture, which isn't always interesting. But labs were easy and she gives you any answers you need in class. The tests were not bad, she gives you a study guide that outlines the test closely. She also gives TONS of extra credit!!
Raji is a very nice professor who expects a lot from her students. She gives tons of extra credit because without it she knows there's a chance you'll fail. She can be hard to understand sometimes and her teaching isn't for everyone. She's the type to talk at you instead of having a talk with you. Overall, she's okay.
Very outgoing and nice lady but did not fit me as a student. She teaches at you versus teaching with you. II felt like she was just throwing information at me and not explaining it to me. You have one quiz every single week. Exams are about every two weeks (50 points) which include 30 multiple choice and about 7 short answers, worth 20 points.
I'm willing to take any biology classes with her. To be honest, i learned alot from her lectures. Even though biology is hard, requires huge amount of time, and efforts to get good grade, Raji is always there to help out.
I will never take this professor again, and regret taking her for this class. She is so rude and makes you feel stupid for asking any questions. I have never hated a class as much as this. Do not take her.
Raji is super nice and answers all your questions, her expectations are super straight forward, and her exams are based off the material learned in the class. Biology isn't a topic for everyone, but if you want to pass, she'll give you every opportunity to do so.
Raji is an acquired taste. If you don't like an assertive professor, than this class isn't for you. It isn't a cake walk; she makes you earn every point, but I have learned so much from her lectures. Some times they are long, and hard to sit through, but the information is interesting enough that I don't regret taking her.
Personally, I don't think I would take classes with Raji in the future. Her lectures are very long, and she goes through everything very fast, and gets irritated when she is asked to go back, even though she told us that if she would slow down when asked to. She can be rude because of disappointment, and teaches at you more than with you.
I was surprised to hear some people say that Raji was "mean" and "annoyed" when she was asked questions. I took general bio from her this quarter and found her to be nothing but helpful and kind. There's no doubt that it's a tough subject and there's a lot of lecturing and work involved; but Raji made that clear from the start. She was a great prof
Raji is a super nice and approachable teacher. She wants to help you in any way she can. Homework heavy, but all given at the beginning of the quarter. So if you just down and do it all, then the rest of the quarter is easy. Everything you need to know for the tests is on the study guides, but you do actually have to study. I would take her again.
She is a super nice professor and seems to care about the students. The lectures are long and boring but she gives study guides and tests are straight off the lecture. If you are good at studying, it is an easy A. Lots of homework, but given at the beginning of the quarter. I simply did all mine at the beginning and then didn't have to worry
Professor Raji is a great professor! Although her lectures are very long and contain a lot of material, she is very helpful and supportive. There is homework due daily and weekly quizzes, but they are pretty easy. The main suggestion I would give is to study hard for the exams because they are a little tougher, but she posts study guides online!
Raji is Nice but she's not the great of a teacher, When you ask her a question she kind of just looks at you with an awkward look like "why don't you know this stuff already". She turns all lab days into lecture's and she honestly assigns way too much for a General Bio class. Don't let the reviews fool you! Stay Away from this professor!
Raji is one of my favorite professors. The reviews that say she's not good are most likely students that are looking for an easy A. There are weekly quizzes and if you want a B+ or higher, just do well on all the quizzes. Also I got pretty low Bs and a C on my exams, but i did well in the class still. Try and memorize all the slides before exams.

Raji was an amazing professor, she very straight forward and clear in what she wants. There a weekly labs and quizzes, dates for all provided at beginning of the quarter. Some lab days are used as lecture days, so be prepared. She taught everything in a manner that was very easy to understand, I passed with flying colors.
I wish I could go back and choose another professor. Class was test heavy and long boring lectures. She is not a people person and grades every student differently, so do not get on her bad side. Worst instructor ever!!
Raji is a great professor. I had her for two quarters, and I would take her again if I could. Her exams were difficult, but she really cares for her students. In fact, whenever the class average was low on an exam, she would make it her job to somehow bring it up. She even offered test corrections and had really accessible office hours.
Overall a great professor
Absolutely would take Raji again! she is extremely helpful in class and helps you a ton too understand the topic if you are not understanding it well. do gives a bit of extra credit but if you listen in lecture and do the study guides then you should be able to pass her class!
Raji is okay. She gets frustrated when students don't understand a concept. She told our class she felt like she was teaching a brick wall. She can be rude.
Raji is a very knowledgeable instructor whose expectations and grading criteria are quite clear. The content of BIOL& 211 was a lot to learn, but she was clear about processes we should be able to describe for the exams, which include multiple choice as well as written response. She is also a kind and approachable person and offers extra credit.
Raji is an amazing teacher, she is very straight forward with what she expects from you. Just make sure you read the power points before class. She also makes sure that students understand comgen project well.
Great lectures & easy to follow. Makes sure the students are understanding a topic and gives helpful examples. Lots of homework but not unreasonable and none of it felt like a waste of time. She highlighted key sections in the ebook so we knew what to focus on. Lots of extra credit opportunities and helpful study guides. Clear on expectations.

Class consisted of COMGEN project interspreced with mundane and monotonous lectures. Raji is a tough grader and does not seem to care much how the students are doing in class. Not a great professor, but maybe one of the better professors teaching 211.
information on the power point are not 20% correct I found lots of incorrect definition on her power points and if you write down the correct answer where you learned from google or khan academy she would give you half of the points because she wants you to write down her wrong definitions , her study guides cover about 70% of the exams not 100%
If you study all of the slides well, tests should be easy.
I loved the way Raji taught our class. She always had her amazing lectures ready and even if you don't understand something, she finds a way to draw it out and help you understand! Apart from the lectures, she's constantly adding notes to her whiteboard, so make sure to write those down too! It's fast paced, but taking it with Raji makes it all ok!
If you plan on having a life outside of school DO NOT take this class!! You literally have assignments due every single day of the week even on the weekends. Also Raji can be sweet at times but she can also be mean and talk down to you like you are dumb. Tests and quizzes are REALLY hard so come to class and pay attention!
Absolutely amazing. I Have literally never had a teacher make any class as interesting & motivating as hers. IF you do complete her study guides, as well as the different homework assignments you will be well prepared for her tests/ quizzes, and offered a retake for my class on an exam. A wonderful teacher who makes sure you understand/ learn well
Would absolutely take again. Took her for BIO160 and was the best experience of my life.
Raji was a really good professor; her expectations were very clear from the beginning. Be ready to commit to at least an hour of homework a night. Raji gives tons of extra credit ranging from just having a scantron sheet for exams to being in class every day. As long as you do the homework and don't slack off, you will do fine in her class.
She's a great teacher. Her accent is fine and everyone can understand it. She explains everything well and wants you to succeed.
she is a great proffessor. she was very clear with her expectations and is lecture heavy with lots of details. pay attention, take good notes, and its a pretty easy A. her tests are pretty easy because every short response you get an option of answering one of two given questions. usually a hard one and an easier one. made the tests so much easier.
A great teacher gives really good feedback and really uses the textbooks and get ready to read as long as you read you will be fine.
Such an amazing professor. She definitely knows what she is talking about and explains concepts clearly and well. Mainly lectures, lots of quizzes and tests. I'd say the class can be difficult but Raji definitely makes it a lot easier to succeed. Lots of extra credit opportunities as well. Stay on top of the work and study and you can do well.
Raji is a sweet teacher. Her lectures are great, the class is tough. Every week one quiz or an exam plus two prelab quizzes. The exams are not the easiest but ok. A is 93 and youll get extra point for your attendance if you dont miss a day of the class. She is a good grader and a craing person but 211 is hard.
She has a thick accent so be ready, but other than that Raji is an incredible teacher. This class was relatively easy. She goes off of the power point and if you miss class you may be confused, but power point is very easy to follow. She posts study guide based questions that help you further understand the topic.
Raji is a tough grader, she goes through the material very fast and when asking for help she makes you feel unintelligent. I will not be taking her class again. Does not give extra credit, The class average is pretty low, does not drop exams. You will be stressed
Raji made me love biology! She is very good at explaining things in a way that is easy to understand. Homework online every night (isn't difficult). There are 4-5 exams that are multiple choice, short answer, and short essay questions. If you are someone who doesnt study a few nights ahead for an exam don't take this class you will not do well.
Raji is my favorite BC professor. She loves biology, and she loves her students. Raji goes out of her way to help her students do their best work. If you try, you'll get an A. Attendance is mandatory. That said, her lectures are great, and exams are based on that material. She was also prepared for COVID, and adapted quickly to mandatory changes.
If you have other options, never take her class. Quiz has a lot of work and has a lot of homework. This semester due to COVID-19 changed to online teaching, her teaching method is to read the content written in the PPT every day and then forced to attend. Her words are sometimes difficult to understand, and the lecture is not clear. Not recommende
Raji talks very fast and she is inpatient when asking for help. I will not be taking her class again. She is a tough grader, does not drop exams, it is my self-study quarter and stressful. Not recommend her online section. Basically, you have to self-study for this online class..
Raji is super sweet, her accent isn't bad. Bio 160 is not an easy A class, ppl expect A's to be handed out but just review powerpoints and you will be set for all exams. Everything on the exam is covered in class and in her lectures, she is enthusiastic and will answer any questions you might have. Please make sure to study before exams though.
Raji is always willing to work with her students. Her lectures were over Zoom and students could post their questions through the chat box without having to awkwardly unmute. BIO 160 is not an easy course, but Raji makes everything manageable and easy to pick up. Would definitely recommend.
Raji is super enthusiastic about biology and will answer any questions you might have about the topic. Really great if you already love biology because she shares the same passion. In an online class, it is mostly self-study. If you are ready for that, take the class. If ur not, then pick another teacher. Exams are hard if you don't study.
I thought Raji was a good teacher. She was clearly very passionate about biology and cared a lot about helping her students. There was a lot of work, but if you stayed on top of it it wasnt hard. She wasnt the best teacher Ive ever had, but I definitely would recommend her class.
Be ready to read the entire chapter. If you haven't taken a bio class before, it will be harder. This is not the class you can spend a few hours on a week.
Would not take if you're looking to get by easily. So much homework (about 4-6 hrs/week), tests are very wordy, and she just reads off a ppt made by the textbook for the entire lecture. The homework assignments cover topics not involved in the ppt. She does not accept late work. There are three tests worth 50 points each, that use lockdown browser.
Raji is a gem. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about biology which is fantastic if you are as well. Fast-paced class but she is willing to help if you are confused and is accessible outside of class. Some extra credit-- make sure you read her announcements! She uses lockdown browser and monitor for exams. Quizzes are open note. 93 A
Raji is very knowledgable and kind, but she doesn't let you get by with an easy A. Tests are five-option multiple choice, she uses lockdown browser and monitor, and there is a lot of material to cover each week. Difficult class but very interesting. Would recommend, just be prepared to work 15-20 hours a week.
Raji expects you to be on every zoom and puts you into breakout rooms to complete group assignments every week. Her weekly online quizzes, homework, and labs will take you hours to complete each week, very heavy workload. Exams are times in lockdown browser 50 question and you only get about 50 min to complete it. Wouldnt recommend for easy A.
I had to take this for a pre-req. This class is def for health majors and It was very homework heavy. She expects most of your time to focus on this class. I had no other time for my other classes.
Raji is an excellent teacher and a very kind person. You can get an A if you listen to all of her recorded lectures and make your own notes in the form of responses to the questions in the study guide. It does take 15-20 hours of studying per week. I did not enjoy the group discussions (would have preferred more lecture time with her).
Raji was my favorite undergrad professor - very underrated here. She grades hard, but she gives you chances to improve your assignments after submitting them so that you give your best work possible. Few professors facilitate growth and learning as much as her. If you act interested and try to be nice, she'll take care of you. Deserves tenure.
Professor Raji is very sweet and kind. Her class is not hard if you read and study. She has so many resources for you to learn. Her labs were interesting and fun to do. The exams were not as challenging as I expected them to be. She gives you study guides for every chapter and the short and long answers on the exam are straight from the study guide
Professor Raji is an exceptional teacher! She is very very good at what she does. Her study guides and audio recordings are amazing. I would love to take her class again!
