Great prof! My fav that i've had so far! Very helpful, will come early if u need help or want to see ur quiz mistakes. He lets u bring a piece of paper (1) of ur notes to the quizzes which makes it a lot easier. Textbook reading is necessary for this class! But overall, although he makes u read a lot, he is a great prof that is helpful!
I would not recommend him as he is by far one of the worst profs I have had in 3years at kwantlen. He does not care for his students and expects you to read the books religiously but yet he when it comes to exams you have to go by what he says in class. He does not explain what is expected on projects and is an unfair marker in exams and projects.
One of my favourites too. He will stay after class to give help which I was grateful for. He uses good examples and is very clear in his classes and what he wants. You will have to work hard, not a bird course at all. But you will learn lots - I did.
His class IS so boring and very difficult to understand what he wants in assignments and final exams Very contradictory as he wants you to know the text book inside out but yet uses his own theories on exams and he is a hard marker honestly he does not care for his students to pass He made a 1st years course feel like a 4th year lowered my GPA :*(
He's a great teacher and guy. You will have to study hard choose good members for your group project. Also he lets you bring a cheat sheet to exams which helps a lot. Good course altogeter.
He's an awesome professor. If you want to do well attend class, participate, read the text and study as you go alongs. His exams are very straightforward if you do this. Group project get good members and start early to get a good mark. I did well overall and happy with my mark. One of the best profs I have seen so far.
The amount of work for this class is ridiculous. Every week there is a huge group project or an individual project due. For the exams, he says its mostly going to be from the textbook, but its from his in class notes. Everything has to be worded exactly how he expects it (which is unclear) or else you lose a ton of marks. Extremely hard marker.
overall a very good course. it will be challenging as you do a real advertising project in parts, but you will walk away learning lots(unlike one of my other class) he gives lots of feedback which most other profs don't. if you ask him questions he is super helpful. work hard and you will do well.
Raj is the best prof I had so far! Class is fun and lectures too.
Lectures are always enjoyable and you do activities. You get a one pager for quizzes and exams, which makes it easier. He makes you apply what you read in the text. Which means you have to read the book as you go along. I recommend him.
He's nice in the sense your allowed a hand written cheat cheat and if your having a hard time understanding something he's available. But his instructions on worksheets and the project is non-existent. It was frustrating to do the project and not know what he wants. Plus, you pick groups on day 1 so be there to get into a good group.
Hes nice and explains well. Hard marker. Boring and dull class hard to stay focused.
Def the best class I had so far. One page for quiz and exams. Class is always good and he talks about current marketing news.
I agree that he is one of the best teachers I have had. H is always prepared and knows his marketing. Lots of reading, I would not fall back. Clas was always fun for me and hope to get another class with him.
Raj is a very good prof. He understands all areas of business with experience. He communicates his lectures well and is easy to understand. One of the best profs I have had to communicate the class material. I will take more classes with him. Very recommend.
Excellent professor. I enjoyed his class. But you will have to read and work in groups. He will get you market ready. Highly highly recommended.
He really enjoys teaching and it shows. Be prepared to learn alot from him. Very clear on what he wants and he answers your questions when you ask. Yes he marks hard, but this is university,so what do you expect. One of the best classes I took.
He is a great prof. He is very helpful and tells you exactly what you need to study for. He is knowledgable and has great experience in the industry. He will require group work, lots of reading, quizzes and exams. But this is a university, it's to be expected!
The hardest prof ever seen.
Very harsh marker. Also not clear on what he wants. Dances around the question - does not answer it. Not a very smart prof.
hardest marker by far, not clear to what he wants. The upside is he try to help you in his own way. Take entr 3140 with him at your own risk, I won't recommend it
Grading practices are very inconsistent and unfair. I speak on behalf of the whole class. Rude, unprofessional and does not care about his students success. This class went from 35 students to 15.
Raj is great. Yes, he is a hard marker and expectations are high. This course will push you in many ways, but you will learn so much. I did not do well at first and got frustrated. I got help in his office and found him very helpful - he will make time for you. Whatever you do, don't give up and get help sooner than later.
hardest marker by far, not clear to what he wants.Inconsistent explanation. I stronly not recommend his class.
very hard marker and his goal is inconsistent and unfair mark. I also speak on behalf of the whole class Rude, unprofessional and does not care about his students success. I think he enjoy cutting our heads.
Inconsistent grading practices as well as a complete under-utilization of a $100 textbook. Final exam masked as a midterm 6 weeks into the course, all based on self study. Case analysis is a "cookie cutter" way of what is a very excellent way of learning about real business situations.
Avoid him if you want to minimize your stress level. He is hard, does not give good instructions and does not provide good help. Good luck if you do end up with him... you'll need it.
Raj means well, but fails to communicate exactly what he wants for assignments. His instructions are there, but lack exact information relating to the methods he wants you to approach things. Being a new instructor at Kwantlen, my impression is that he wants to do what it takes to make his place, and that seems to be unjustifiably marking hard.
Raj is a very hard marker and unclear on what he wants. If you ask him in his office hours he will never clearly help you in a way that is beneficial. Wants numbers otherwise your case is irrelevant to him. Figure out what he wants when he says "dig deeper" and you may actually do well. Class quizzes are much harder than practice quizzes given.
Great prof. Engaging lectures lots of energy, shares his work experience stories. Always available to help in his office. All profs mark hard, it is university, what do you expect? Get in a good group for projects and you will be fine.
Yes all profs for 3140 are hard markers but raj is on another level. He is an unreasonably hard marker. It sucks when you work so hard to get a poor grade or not pass the class at all. More than half the class failed or dropped out. He is not very clear on what he expects from the students.
I strongly don't recommend him. vague with readings, power points usually help you understand important concepts but he'd leave stuff out. Group projects: you pick on the first day and are stuck with them good or bad. I've taken higher level classes that had way more helpful profs who seem to get a busy students life.
Great prof, pretty easy class as long as you read his slides and read the main concepts in the textbook. He makes the concepts easy to understand. Class activities help a lot and he allows you to bring a page of notes to quizzes and exams. One only thing to worry about is the group project; Beware of and pick your members wisely
I am a 4th year student and would clearly say this is the hardest marker I have ever seen. He is not clear what he wants. I prepared every single cases and the average participation mark I got was 50%. I have already had an informal complain about him and also filing a formal complain to School of Business.
Attend class, do a short quiz weekly, you can bring a page of notes for all quizzes/tests. Class consists of lectures/activities. The group project was my only down fall. My members were useless, got A+ on mid term and Final, and a C+ on group project. Be careful when you choose your group! The project really takes lots of time and effort.
I can't even describe how bad this teacher is.He has zero passion towards teaching this class and his students! Not clear on what he wants and his feedback are USELESS! AVOID RAJ AT ANY COST! THE WORST EVER.
Definitely my favourite professor. His classes are fun and you do class activities that help you learn the material. I recommend him for any class.
Raj is a great prof I liked him! One thing is that make sure you pick your group members carefully! He assigned the project on the first day. He's a tough marker and doesn't tell the class on what he wants. Quizzes are tough, its not just about definitions, you have too read in depth to pass the quizzes. Make sure you do weekly readings.
Quizzes are pretty tough & at start of class so BE ON TIME FOR THEM, to do well on any questions you have to read in depth, doesn't clarify what he wants for anything but if you ask lots of questions he replies right away and helps as much as he can. Friendly, don't leave projects till last minute because you WILL have questions (i did this)
Raj is a great guy but is way too strict on his quiz time limit. His lectures only cover a portion of whats on the actual quizmid-term so you need to do readings in depth. Marking is fairly hard when it comes to projects. I would not recommend taking his class.
He's a little bit of a hard marker. Participation and attendance really matter to him AND ARE FOR MARKS. In-class activities will help you a lot. The group project is what could effect your mark negatively. I was getting 86% and the group project just messed things for me. You are stuck with the same group. good luck if you choose the wrong group.
get ready to work for your grade the help is there in abundance just ask for it early on so you can be successful everything counts every detail and format you have to be full on for this course or you will not pass you have to do every assignment he pushes you to do your utmost and his lectures are very engaging
Rajinder is a good teacher. His in-class activities help a lot throughout the project. Exams are multiple choice and application based. It's really important to have good group members, or else you are screwed. Make sure you talk to him before its late. If you want to pass, you must attend all the classes. Take his help, he's good at guiding.
Don't believe the hype! ENTR 3140 is so much easier than I expected. Raj isn't expecting you to be a genius. What he's looking for is process - how do you come to your conclusions and have you completed the analyses as outlined in the course. If you remember it's a marketing analysis "process" course, not a critical thinking class, you'll be fine
If you care more about your career than your grade Raj is an EXCELLENT instructor. Some think he's too hard, but it's because he knows his stuff and expects you to give a solid effort. There's so much quality info, and the project and final require you to put it into practice. If you want a career in advertising this class is gold!
The concepts in the class are useful. Raj can be unclear at times but he's not as bad as some make him out to be. Just like anything in the world, you have to put in work, this is not a GPA booster. You'll have 2 assignments (15% each), a midterm (15%), group project (25%), take home final exam (20%), participation (10%). Ask questions early on.
Took this course my first semester of 3rd year and I can honestly say that it has been crucial to my success moving forward. Raj expects a lot from you, but he helps prepare you for what to expect in the future. Presentations are tough and sometimes it's hard to gauge what he wants exactly, but you will learn essential marketing concepts.
2 individual cases to do yourself, and 3 group cases including the final. 3 "pop quizzes", 1 assignment. This class is a lot of work no matter who you take it with. Rajinder can be confusing with his expectations but if you seek help in class and in office hours, he is more than willing to clarify. Get a good group for this class, it's imperative.
Bad experience with him, sorry! This is the lowest gradd Ive ever gotten, a C-. All because of the group project! Honestly did everything i could :(
Lectures are disorganized. He refuses to teach or answer questions re concepts, he wants you to teach yourself from the textbook. Very unfair in marking group projects. He's lost my homework. The tests are easy as you can use a cheat sheet. He brags about his previous employment before KPU-my advice is for him to return to it! Stop teaching!
He assigned 3+ chapters of homework per week, only to do an online quiz barely worth anything in the end. The group project was worth over 20% of the final grade and he gave us one class (3 hours) to work on it. After working hours on end outside of class time to finish the project, we received an F. STRONGLY do NOT reccomend.
He is a great prof that actually cares about his students I work full time and he always made time when I needed extra help hard marker, but if you want to learn something this is the prof to take the class really helped me out with my job
Big group project/presentation throughout the whole semester but he basically makes 1 part due every week so it's not a crazy amount of work. He uses Connect for weekly quizzes which are pretty easy. He loves people who participate in class.
I would advise that you meet with him as often as you can for any of his courses. It's crucial to develop a relationship as well as get more details on your projects. He is a tough grader for sure, but doing the Creative Brief and Media Plan has been soo helpful, and has been one of the most practical, work-applicable projects I have done at KPU.
Interesting lectures. take attendance. participation matters. can let you stand out of class if late for even 5 min. nothing special in his slides. read from book. allows you cheat sheet.
Good dude. But a HARD marker. barely passing and am a Marketing major. Half the class failed the simulation but he won't scale the marks. Try to take this class with anyone else. extremely tough on participation marks too. If you aren't talkative all class you'll fail.
he gives excellent illustrations !!!
Participation worth 10%, mid term worth 25%, final worth 30%, group project worth 35%. Raj is a great prof, I'm so shocked with the negative reviews. He genuinely enjoys teaching the class. Definitely would take again!
Raj is a good prof, but be there on time. Be prepared, he is a hard marker. Participation really maters, so speak up and ask question. Get in a good group or you will find it difficult. If you need help ask, available office hours. If you want to learn, take his class.
I love this professor. He could become a hard marker, but regular participation and attendance will make him happy and this may help you with the 10% participation mark. The midterms are kind of hard. 4 Quizzes are easier (25MC). He will help you whenever you ask for help. Attend class and read the textbook and show him your interest easy A-/B+
Raj is a nice professor, but hard marker. If you have any questions, go ask him immediately. Read and understand his requirement of each assignment/paper, and exactly follow his requirement, otherwise, you got 50 or fail the paper. Make sure you discuss/ask questions in the class. Simulation in MRKT 3000 is easy and simple. good luck
He is highly recommended and very insightful and its important you show up to class.
My group really enjoyed doing the project work. I really enjoyed the class.
He is tough but fair marker, and is always willing to help. Good ckass, projects can be exciting Make sure to ask if you don't get something. Very big on attending classes.
His lectures are good, make sure to participate in his every class and try to answer all questions, read the chapters before you enter the class, his exams are really tough, make sure to read everything related from the slides, make a wise decision to choose group partners and be focused on your readings otherwise you wont even pass.
Great class with a lot of opportunities to learn. Raj is a good prof to have for this class because he gives solid feedback, has homework assignments related to the group project, and is willing to really help you out if you need it and ask for it. Tough grader but pretty fair.
Raj is an OK professor. Mrkt 1199 is a mix of individual stuff (final, midterm, weekly online quizzes, participation) and the group project. Make sure you get a good group and always participate in class. He allows a cheat sheet for the midterm and the final. It's an easy A if you get a good group.
Rajinder, is a very approachable and helpful. He is strict but tells it like it is. He wants you to do well. He is knowledgeable and is willing to help. You just need to put in the work and make a good effort.
Raj is an excellent instructor! When he teaches concepts, he backs it up with relatable examples and does his best to connect with students. If you plan to take a course with Raj, please take advantage of his office hours and feedback; he gives useful tips and advice. He does assign homework regularly, but it is not heavy.
He's very nice and as long as you read the textbook and make a good cheat sheet, you'll pass. (for in-class lectures)
Raj is simply an amazing instructor. I have had him in previous classes and you can tell he is passionate; he backs up lessons with examples using his industry experience(this is so nice). When i chose marketing as a major, I was initially hesitant, but learning from Raj ignited a spark causing me to fall into love with marketing.
I really enjoyed taking this class with Rajinder, he made it fun to learn about Marketing in a way that actually prompted me to work towards a Marketing degree. Definitely recommend and I'm planning to take him again next semester.
The most unqualified prof I have ever seen in kpu. He made 3211 even harder than 3100. Super hard grader with uncleared homework introductions. A little tips for ya if you take his class: include appendix in you paper as much as possible. He is going to grade you by how many appendix included not by the quality of your writings.
Very hard professor. Gave me 20% on my essay which i felt was very unfair and harsh. He goes off topic a lot and can talk for hours. Attendance is mandatory. Basically failing his class even though I study and try my best.
I've had the pleasure of taking Raj for 3211 and 4201. Both classes are relatively tough, but you will learn a lot if you put work into it. He loves Appendices so make sure you stuff your deliverables with them. Lectures can be kind of dry but he's overall a great guy. Can be a little unclear with marking sometimes, but feedback is typically good.
Rajinder is a great professor. He's passionate about teaching this course and he provides good feedback on all assignments.
He takes attendance even though it is not for marks. There is a module due every week and a quiz about twice a month. There are 2 assignments and I thought I would get a very high mark on them, but I did not and the feedback was not great. It was very vague and did not tell me what to improve on.
Raj is friendly and tries to engage students in lectures with participative questions. I had him for MRKT1299 and MRKT3211. Be prepared to put in A LOT of effort to get anything higher than a B for your assignments. Any grammar errors or missing in-text citations will take marks off your grade. I had to cite my own ideas/thoughts...
Raj is not a bad teacher according to his teaching style but I must say that he is a tough grader. He wants you to give a lot of appendices as backup support. His group project is worth 40%, you have to be very analytical and need to do a lot of research. Overall, this course has a lot of work and research to do but there are no exams.
He doesn't think, just goes off the textbook. A computer would be a better teacher. he's unable to read between the lines and an idea must be explained to him in severe detail or he just ignores it and moves on to the next student.
Good class to take midterm and finale test online and don't need to stress in person and all quizzes online
Basically a robot. No emotion, feeling or nuance. Just do what he says and you will be fine. Refuses to learn names yet expects lots of participation, Tests are easy which is nice but he assigns groups for group projects which can really make or break your grade (broke mine). Huge on citations, no wiggle room in due dates at all.
Very boring made me drop out of Kpu only good thing was the online tests
Rajinder is a caring and expectational great professor. One of the best I've had in my time at KPU. He has great knowledge. His willingness to help you and provide constructive feedback. He is strict but fair and yes attendance does matter. But if you work hard and put in the work you can do well in his class. He also wants you to do well.
GPA ruiner, 30% of your grade is group project, which you don't choose. 55% will be online exams which don't use the same language as the provided textbook nor does it match up with his lectures. Final 15% is weekly papers which are marked extremely strictly. He also uses emojis on the exam, which do not make an sense.
Tough Grader 100%
For those interested in marketing, I highly recommend this professor.
Rajinder is a great professor. One of the best in KPU. He is tough and strict but his willingness to help you and he cares for his students to do well. if you put in the work you can achieve the grade!
He's alright but not the best. Super tough grader, very passionate about Marketing. However, if you show up even 3 mins late, he will refuse to take your Math homework and you earn 0. Refuses to take it online has to be paper handout. Not understanding at all for those living far. Takes marks off for dumb little things. You can find better.
Class participation is required, exams are more difficult than the lessons, and projects are graded harshly.
Very tough grader RUN and save your GPA.
I don't recommend him at ALL very mean and doesn't care about the students take too long to respond to email I don't know how he still teaching!!
Don't agree with bad reviews, that being said the workload is heavy, its almost expected that u are always working on an assignment. He marks generously, gives tips, and walks u through tools in class. Get a solid group & take a lighter course load. 5 homework tasks, 3 major individual projects, and a 3 part group project with a final presentation.
Just don't.
Terrible grader, not understandable with what he wants with the expectations of work, and will ruin your gpa!
