Easy class. Impossible to not get an A. Be on time. Don't talk back. Do all work. Take responsibility for your own actions and don't make excuses because like any other class, excuses don't get you anywhere. He is strict but it's not horrible. After dropping out of Cal Polo, Mr.Swamy was my first English teacher. He is very strict and demanding but very nice if you ask for help. He treats you like a friend and tell you what you need to improve. He tells you stuff relating to real life situation and how you should comprehend. Overall he is an A!!!

Class itself is very easy - all of it is taken from the book & his lectures are self explanatory. You really need to be sure to read the material especially before quizzes... Show up on time, he takes roll in the beginning of class and will call you out for being half a minute late. Lecture is incredibly boring - ok class load.

If anything, this would be considered one of the more "lighter" English courses. Simply because the emphasis is broadening views on English in general. The class is fairly simple, do all of the work, read, study for tests, A. You don't even have to set aside 2 hours on a daily basis. Just spend about 1 hour studying daily. It is straight foward.

This professor was my favorite for the semester. He's hilarious and tries to find ways to make class fun for the homework and in-class sessions. There are three essays and one presentation, but he grades fairly easy! He said to our class before that he gives mostly A's and B's for the essays, so all you have to do is show up and do well on quizzes.

Lenient grader. Lots of work. he calls his hw "hw", but really they're essays. u could wing it and get an A as long as u follow the directions. U could try so hard and not even try on the essays and u could get an A. The worst grade u could get is an overall B and that's kind of rare. But since hes got alot of assignments, there r better profs.

Took English 101B over the summer online with Mr. Swamy. It was a great class. His Canvas was very well organized two weeks in advance. There were clear deadlines. You follow the deadlines, submit your work and complete the course. He graded with good feedback and helped me make a connection to the literature we read. Do not try to cheat.

Professor Swamy is one of the best professors Ive ever had at Ohlone. He is a HARD stickler when it comes to things: attendance, cellphone/computer use, participation (except he actually calls you out on it). You gotta train yourself to be a disciplined student with him but if you can manage that, he completely works with you and helps you so much!

His attendance policy is strict. Even if u are 1 second late to class ur marked absent. Although I didn't like it at first since I was always late to class, it disciplined me & I'm grateful. If u have under 4 tardies/absences your attendance score will be an A. He's a fair grader and as long as u do the work+read directions carefully u can get an A

We had to switch from in person to online and this professor was so good at doing it. Professor Swamy was understanding. He helped with the technology so much as it was difficult. He really cares. His teaching was very clear and he planned in advance, so that helped me to be prepared. Do your reading and do the work. He is great.

This was a challenging class, especially due to the Covid virus, but Professor Swamy made it easy. In addition to writing, he was patient and taught us a lot of technology skills that helped us while learning online and on Zoom. He is good with technology. I thought I was good with my computer, until he showed me some good skills. He grades fairly.

Took ENG101A with its supplemental class this past first semester of covid. My experience was tough but can truly say he made me a better writer. Only met on Mondays the majority of the semester, just FOLLOW THE RUBRIC AND PROMPT and you'll pass papers. Gives REAL feedback and wants to see you progress. Don't procrastinate, good/heavy work load.

He was a good professor! I think ENG 101A might've been a heavy class in general since you need to take it with the supplement English 101AX which makes it 6 credits. He was pretty heavy with papers and gave good feedback. You need to put in a good amount of work tho. And do not be late to class.

He rocks. Take his class and learn a very good way to write great essays. He focuses on skills that you can take with you and apply to any essay writing situation. I liked how organized he was. He does not have a textbook, but provides the material which is well chosen. He gives good feedback too. He cares about your learning.

I really enjoyed taking Prof Swamy's class. He is very knowledgeable and very organized. He goes out of his way to help students. There were students in class who would hide behind a black screen and not participate, so Prof Swamy found creative ways to get students involved. He gives good feedback on writing and helps you during office hours.

One of the respected Professors at Ohlone. He teaches with the hope that you will take the skills with you to any class. I really improved in my writing due to how he taught the class. Professor Swamy goes out of his way to help students. He even wrote me a letter of recommendation for a scholarship and also for my transfer. I will miss his style.

I took English 101A from Professor Swamy. One thing I liked is that he really wanted me to pass and move on. He cares and helps students. He has some rules to be followed, and he works with you to achieve success. He is a great instructor. I liked how he was easy to talk to outside of class when I needed help. Thank you.

I took 101B with Professor Swamy last spring. He made the class really fun. I really enjoyed how he made the readings interesting with videos and activities. We used Quizlet, Kahoot, and other fun activities to learn about literature. He knew we had passed 101A, so he helped us along and made the class great. Awesome person!

I had Professor Swamy for English101A! I recommend taking him if you're new to college. In the first week, he talks about stuff you'll need for the rest of college like how to install Microsoft word, pdf editors, how to use canvas etc. He's nice, and he really teaches you the basics of writing college papers. Do all the work, and you'll get an A!

Mythology was a really fun class and Professor Swamy made it fun with good activities and amazing lectures. He used Kahoot, Quizlet and fun group activities to keep us busy and interested. Mr. Swamy is a good professor. His class has a lot of work, but if you do the work, you will earn lots of points. Some essays are in-class. He gives a chance to rewrite the in-class ones. I really struggled with writing, but I learned so much in this class. Professor Swamy has very good structure and provides very good feedback. You must stay on top of your work. I loved being in professor swamy's class because he was a really fair grader. His instructions are exceptionally clear if you read everything that is being posted on canvas. His lectures are very much discussion based so make sure to pay attention and participate to gain the most out of the lectures. Remember to turn things in on time.

Just finished my Summer English 101B with Mr. Swamy. He was very organized and detailed in his instructions. He communicated very well and had very clear directions and expectations. He was kind. There was a lot of writing, but it was more on how we relate to different types of reading. He is awesome. Take him people.

I am so delighted that I took Professor Swamy's class for Eng 101A. He is a fantastic professor who is knowledgeable about a wide range of topics beyond the English class. A little tough in his grading, but I believe that it forced me to think outside the box and learn a lot of new things.

If you have not taken any English classes yet, then having Professor Swamy will be the greatest step toward the right direction. In short, my grade went from a C(failed my first essay[one and only timed essay] he let me redo it, and got a 70 from it) to an A by utilizing the resources(office hours)that he provided. Take him, people!

Class was moved fully online, but professor Swamy was great at adapting his course in the best possible way for us to get the most out of it. Great lectures and the assignments were really helpful for the midterm and final exams. There were two group presentations that were a lot of fun as well. Great teacher, really enjoyed his class.

Professor Swamy is a great teacher; however, there may be times when he can be in a foul mood if students are not being attentive or responsible in their homework. He does assign a lot of work, but he does allow time for office hours. Also, be prepared for pop quizzes. Get to class on time and don't leave early.

Light amount of homework(Allows late work), only obstacle is essays. 50% of grade, but it was easy. Very caring and he always wants to be helpful. He is available in office hrs/elc where you can have him read over your essay, and he always gives good feedback. Not a strict grader and is fun to talk to.

I just finished a fun and entertaining World Mythology course with Professor Swamy. He made the class fun and relevant to our interests. There is a lot of reading, but how else can you get most of the information unless you read. His lectures are fun and he is very knowledgeable about different areas of mythology. The group presentations were great

Professor Swamy was a fantastic teacher! There were a lot of assignments that were time-consuming but very easy. The essays were 50% of our grade, but surprisingly the essays weren't graded as harshly as I assumed. He makes lectures fun and takes time to help students out. Definitely take his class!!!

Highly recommended. He is a very good professor, if you want to get an easy A please pick him. He organizes all the things that need to be learned in the class. All you have to do is listen carefully. He gives very high grades for all essays.

I really learned a lot in Swamy's class. He really focused on writing skills I could take and apply to other courses. You must be willing to put in the work. He is always available to help and he will take the time to give you good examples and teach you well. Do you work and don't complain. He makes you think about why you want to read and write.

Really good English professor. He's very chill and grades easy. There can be a lot of homework at times if you let it pile up. However, you can drop by his office if you need help with a project or paper. Participation is showing up to class. He's a thought-provoking teacher who makes you think about the stuff you read.

World Mythology was a fun class and Professor Swamy made it really exciting. He gives amazing lectures and ties things to everything we engage in like movies, comics, places, stories, etc. He makes the historical and anthropological connections that is fascinating. He cut one essay out and gave us more timet ow ork in groups. Best professor!

Professor Swamy is an awesome instructor. As English is my 2nd language, I was able to learn better due to his teaching style. I took this class over the Summer and it was easy. He gave good comments on my writing. Some students don't want to do the work and complain. Instructor gave them choice to drop but they just complain. He is great.

What an amazing course and an amazing professor. Mythology was a fun class and Mr. Swamy made it great. His lectures are intriguing and inspiring. I learned so much. I got to do a presentation on the mythology of my own culture. Mr. Swamy only requires to read the material so you can do well in the group work and exercises. I took his 101B too.

Professor Swamy's Mythology was a fun course. I took his English 101A and liked his style, so followed him to this course. He did not disappoint. The class was less work then 101A, but it does have readings that lectures are based on. He made the class interesting and exciting. I took both his 101A+AX and 114 Mythology. He is a great professor who grades on time and works with you when you need it. The Mythology was a fun, learning course. He cares a lot about his students succeeding and not wasting time.

Took this class and really learned. Professor Swamy really cares and does not want you to waste a semester. Best part is that this class comes with an embedded tutor, who was great. You get extra help both from instructor and tutor. You can't fail this course.

Online classes are not easy, but if you are committed, you will make it. Just read everything well. He gives good instructions.

Great class and learned a lot. It was remote, so it made it very easy. The online Canvas was structured well. Just follow the directions well and read everything. You must be self-disciplined in an online class. His assignments are easy to follow. Complete and submit and you will pass easily.

This was an amazing class. Mr. Swamy's lectures are fun. I took at as an engineering major, but I learned so much. This class is best taken in the classroom because if you don't finish your reading, you can just learn from the lectures. It went well with my gaming stuff..lol! God of War comes from mythology! The professor was organized and very supportive along the way. This is a 4-unit course, so expect a fair amount of work. You have to do your readings and written responses. You will also get to work in groups, so you can meet other students in an online course. Professor Swamy was fair and graded things quickly. He is very consistent. I liked him.

Professor Swamy gives a lot of work and is very straight forward with his grading criteria and with what he expects from his students. Now that the semester has ended I have concluded that he is a good professor, he does everything with the interest of his students learning. He is a fast grader and very well organized.

He grades fairly and gives extra points when the work shows that extra effort was used. Be prepared to do a lot of reading and writing. Overall, a great Professor.

I had a great experience with English 101A. The professor's lectures were clear, even in the asynchronous format. He is always accessible and had an embedded tutor, which was very helpful. If you follow the guidelines, you'll get a good grade. 10/10

What a fun class! You have to read the mythological stories, so you will understand the lectures, which are really awesome. I learned so much about the world and everything around us in class. Mr. Swamy works with you and you do most of the work in class. Most of the homework is just reading before class. He is nice and helpful.

Took Mr. Swamy's hybrid Eng101A class and enjoyed it. We did see him once a week, which made it very easy to resolve any issues or ask questions. Just finished this course and got an A. It was a rigorous six weeks, but the instructor kept us on task. He graded and provided quick feedback. Enjoyed the course and finishing it in a short time.

Finished a summer session with Professor Swamy. It was a 4-unit course in 6-weeks. It is intense and I chose to take it to get done quickly. Got an A. Do your work consistently and you should easily get an A. Summer sessions are not for everyone. Professor is organized and grades quickly.

I wish there was another part to this course. I really enjoyed the class as I am into gaming and a lot of gaming characters come from mythology. Do the reading and attend he lectures. I even got a chance to do a presentation on mythology from my own culture and learned a lot too. Professor Swamy structured the lecture and discussions well.

I needed the class for my UC requirement and somehow missed it before transferring. Took it over the summer with professor Swamy and completed it in 6 weeks. Organized coursework in Canvas and he graded and gave feedback quickly. He even allowed a rewrite for my first essay. The video helped too. Wish my UC professors were this good.

I took Mr. Swamy's English 175 Reading Improvement through the ELC. It was a self-paced course that I completed in the lab. The staff in the ELC was very helpful and Mr. Swamy went through my work every week. I really improved my reading skills. He even tested to show me my improvement. I will take his 172 next. Great way to improve your skills.

Do the work and follow instructions. People don't follow instructions and then complain. He is very fair and gives extra points too for work well done. If he sees you put effort in your work, he rewards you. Gives a chance to rewrite the first essay to bring up your grade. Allows 4 free absences. He wants you to pass.

Best teacher I have ever had. He made world mythology more interesting and fun to learn. Sadly it is his last year teaching but he was an amazing instructor.

I learned a lot in this class and Professor Swamy was an amazing professor. He is a tough grader, but wants everyone to try their best and succeed. This was my first class that Ohlone where I felt challenged and was worried for my 4.0. He gets easier toward the end of the semester, but do not underestimate the group project!

Professor Swamy has high expectations, but if you stay engaged and utilize resources like unstuck study, you can succeed. The workload is heavy, but the class is rewarding for those willing to put in the effort.
