Great instructor. Really opens your eyes to reality, and the world. Very easy to get an A in. I highly recommend this instructor if you are taking Ethics.

This class was very easy to get an A. The class was pretty much a big discussion with a chapter presentation. I am not one for public speaking so that was my only problem. but the topics were great and i learned alot and saw things a from a different point of view. Great class

Professor Argen very strategically plans out how the course unfolds and IT HITS HOME! No question! Be there from day one & be excited for each day through the last. The realization of significance of his class may not be KNOWN until the last day. Class is fun, interactive, personal, eye-opening, humorous, etc. All WILL gain - with an open mind!!!

I took Dr. Argen for Ethics @ Macdill. This guy is a great teacher. We had to be in the class for 4 plus hours on the weekend and he made it interesting. I didn't agree with some of his positions on how one should live, but he definatly made it easy to be in his class. He is very stern on attendance and homework so do not slack.

This is a great choice for Ethics I recommend you take him at Macdill.

Good professor. Took this class at MacDill in 4 weeks and although fast paced and tedious it was really good. Probably would have said he and the course get 100% all around if the class wasn't so short. Can't be beat for the amount of time we had to learn everything. Don't drop the class and make sure you turn everything in timely.

i pretty much agree with the last person's comments and recommend taking the course to anyone. why does this site ask my interest before taking the class, i had none really before but came out of it very interested. so i give a 5 in interest.

No BS, no sugar coating on some of the harsh realities of life. You will be subjected to hard questions, you will question your moral stance. Don't expect fluff. If you believe in fluff and don't stand to reason why you believe in fluff, well... Ideally you'll walk away a bit smarter. Take this class and take it under the instruction of Argen.

Insightful class and makes you think! I loved the class and saw how ignorant I was to the true reality. I have learned theories and in a way a new perspective of life. Professor Argen is great, he questions you to make you think and show inconsistencies within our own morals/values. Interactive class without too much homework! Enjoyed the class.

Easily the best/easiest class at HCC. He is hilarious and very smart, and will tell you the truth to your face. He called me "Short, mean, and nasty" lol. Class was awesome, You can even use your PC or phone and he would not care.

HCC needs more professors like Argen. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the class and any subject in general. I regret taken the class in a summer semester. This class gives the student an opportunity to express his opinion as well as learning to respect and validate his peer’s beliefs.

Professor Argen is hands down one of the best professors that HCC has to offer. You will have to bring your brain, opinion and knowledge of the topics he assigns to the class. Dr. Argen encourages students to think about how the material of the class is applicable to life situations. His willingness to help students succeed is better than most I have encountered. He was open to suggestions to improve the class and make the (already quality) experience better.

Dr Argen really makes you think! Be prepared to talk. The whole course was all discussions. Do not miss class or you will loose points. My only disappointment was that it was not only a classroom taught class, but also online. We had online discussions about the same topics we discussed in class, which was a little redundant. Still a fun class!

Dr. Argen is an amazing teacher because you were allowed to be yourself and show who you are and what you are feeling about any topic. Bring your heart and your brain and you'll go far in this class.

You're lazy if you don't get an A! Show up, do ALL discussion posts, send paper in on time, and do the group presentations= A! Don't be afraid to talk. Lots of students dropped because of the presentations and that was a huge mistake. He will do most of the presenting for you! Definitely a course that makes you think even outside of class. SIGN UP!

Professor Argen is an awesome teacher. I took this course at MacDill. He makes you think outside of the box and the work was super easy. There are no tests and you really have to try hard to get an F because this class is an easy A. I highly recommend this professor.

Excellent professor. Dr. Argen truly enlightens you and makes his students question everything they believe in and forces them to develop arguments to justify them. His socratic method approach to teaching is perfect for learning philosophy and its evolution through time. I strongly suggest to attend class and participate.

Argen was wonderful!!! A lot of people didn't like the discussion boards but I loved them, and posting on a discussion board 6 times a week, literally saying whatever you want beats an exam!!! He also uses a lot of YouTube videos in his lectures. I don't know how you can't get an A

Prof. Argen is by far one of my favorite teachers here at HCC. He really makes you think about the world and how it applies to you. His lecture class is an open discussion for that hour and 15mins. He will call you out and you'll have to answer his questions, but no answer you give is wrong. He helps you understand what philosophy REALLY is.

Will have moments that'll blow your mind and make you question your life. He's extremely reasonable. All grades including tests are through online discussion. This Professor utilizes a unique teaching style that will result in a very fulfilling learning experience. Great discussions on controversial and deep subjects. I would take a course taught by him again. I definitely recommend you take this class.

Never thought his class was going to change the way I think. Come to class and speak for discussions do homework on time and you will pass. Best class I took over the summer.

For anyone reading the negative comments on Professor Argen, my response is "Welcome to college, you're an adult... work is required." Had him for a summer ethics course. A very astute instructor, who kept the discussion rolling and the class engaged. An easy A, if you're responsible with your attendance and completing the assignments. No tests.

In the beginning of the semester he comes off tough but if you participate and do all the assignments you are guaranteed an A . Professor Argen will help you as long as you communicate with him. I would definitely take this class again.

Professor Argen in my opinion is an excellent teacher. You will be held accountable for attendance and homework. Be prepared to learn and accept a new perspective. He may randomly call you out to answer a question. I would not recommend this class for the timid or wallflowers. You will be overlooked unless you participate. Attendance affects grade.

Easiest A I've ever had! Just do your reading assignments and discussions and yourse sure to get an A. Attendance is worth 200 pts and everyday you're not there is 10 pts off. He's hilarious and if you're a timid person do not take his class, he will call on you and make you into an example! Other than that I loved his class. I got 100 in his class

This guy has to be one of the best proffesors I've ever had. He makes you think, the discussions are easy, and the class is fun. I would take him for philosophy next semester. He will call on you so be prepared. He's also funny. There are no tests .

This guy is a great teacher. If you need an easy A, this class is for you. He lectures a lot but they aren't boring it's like a debate sometimes it's fun. There's no tests but a reading assignment every class which is super easy. He's also really funny you won't regret taking him. Just take him. But he will call on you, attendance is mandatory.

Easiest A I've ever had!!!!! Show up to class because he counts attendance as a grade(200 pts), do reading assignments that's due when class starts(10pts each) and do your discussion posts(170pts each) and your open forum(180pts). Funny guy. I recommend. I got 100 as my final grade, b/c I made an effort in his class. He calls on ppl, be ready!!!

Amazing professor! Yes there is a lot of text book reading involved but you'll get by if you skim through it and read the chapter summaries. Very in depth class conversations and over all a good guy.

took 6 week class with him, talks throughout the whole class and tries to get students to participate. nice guy, easy class, no tests just based on discussions, definitely recommend for an ethics class. you must show up to class or else he takes points off. dont expect to leave class early or get any breaks btw. great professor and easy class.

He's hilarious and his lectures are great. There's one online assignment per class period that takes about 15 minutes and the only other grades are tests. The class is very easy and the professor is awesome!! Would definitely take again.

Great professor if you like discussions! He is very understanding if something comes up and lets you be creative in the writing assignments. Not an easy A, but if you show up and listen and PARTICIPATE IN READING OUT-LOUD you will be perfectly fine. Gives credit for posting in discussions online, homework, and attendance.

I didn't even know Mr. Argen's name until this. He's a great guy but you have to have a great sense of humor to be in his class. He can be offensive if you don't have a sense of humor. His class is an easy class as long as you do your 15 6-word sentences on time. His class is a pretty straight-forward class. During class, I generally do homework.

At first I wasn't too sure about this guy, but over the course of the semester, I grew to love & look forward to his class. At 1st, it seemed he wanted us to answer just so he could make us feel stupid, but I realized that was just his way of making us think. Now that the class has ended, I can say that he was great.

Took Dr. Argen's online Summer class. Read the book and get used to doing six-word sentences. Other than that, don't think about the homework too much and do what he asks and you will pass. I got a C due to forgetting about the homework and not meeting the deadlines. Otherwise, it can be a fairly easy A!

I walked away from this class a different person. Dr. Argen is an amazing professor and if you enter the class with an open mind you will walk away changed. The classwork is not difficult but you will be wasting your time if you don't critically think about the topics at hand. Argen is a great guy and brings wisdom to all!

He definitely knows how to keep the class engaged. Make sure you pay attention because he will pick on you. There's about 2-3 assignments due every week and most of them involve writing 15 six word sentences so make sure you stay on top of that. Interesting class.

All the class consists of is writing 15 six word sentences. At first that seemed a little daunting, but it was super easy. As long as you actually do the sentences you'll pass. My sentences I'm sure are so bad, but I'm halfway through the course and my grade is a 100%. Just note that with the online class due dates are in the morning and not night.

He's a great ethics teacher, he really made things clearer on morality and ethical behavior. I took his class after trying to take an online ethics class that I had to withdraw from because I wasn't understanding. He's blunt and will pick your brain! and heres a hint, nothing is the wrong answer as long as your present!

There will be an assignment twice a week and you have to write 15 6 word sentences which is kind of difficult I must say. Other than that very easy, easy grader. Excepts late assignments for partial grade. No word count for discussions. The only thing I disliked were the 6 word sentences and assignments were due at 11AM!! Not PM or 12am.

I took him for summer and he is an awesome teacher. He makes the class very interesting and he keeps you engage in it by making you participate one way or another. I would definitely take him again if I had the chance.

The assignments are easier if you have the book. Every week you have to do 15 six word sentences about a specific topic. Great teacher, can see his passion. 15-6 word sentences are due 11am every week on chapter readings. They are super easy and I always got full credit. Few discussions w responses and 2 forums where you write a few sentences on what you learned that week with 9 responses. Easy class, have to really work to do bad(almost impossible) would take again

Easy A if you do the work. Which isn't a lot. The 6 word sentences were easy. Got ebook on vitalsource for $18 to rent & worked great. Only downside is it's 8/7 and discussion exam from 7/23 hasn't been graded. hard to improve on future discussions if you don't know how he grades. So far have 100% though. Took 6 week summer and wasn't overwhelming

Assignments are unique, but help to make sure you understand the information. If you do your assignments in time, and with a little thought, you'll do fine. Don't delay in participating in the discussion boards, as there a few that require 10 posts.

A really down to earth guy, He just really wants students to leave his class actually with some form of knowledge of what he lectured about. Everyone opinions mattered, yes he will answer your question with a question just to get you thinking, and to get others involved. He's a really great professor.

Argen is the funniest professor i've ever had in my life. His class is great BUT attendance is 100% mandatory. Completely point based class based on a lot of assignments. Beware of him asking for 6 word sentences. Overall great guy with a great sense of humor. You take something productive from every class.

He wants you to be engaged. He is like one of those teachers they make inspirational movies about. In his class you will think from various perspectives and it will give you a more broad view of life. He has a great sense of humor and makes the material relatable. His class fills up faster than an Elton John concert though. Register quick!

Great professor. Reading and homework is due every class but its easy homework. You learn a lot and he makes it interesting and connects to the real world. No filter, but personally I think hes hilarious. Exams are easy. As long as you do the homework, tests and show up to class its an easy A. He will call on EVERYONE so be prepared.

Professor Argen's class was definitely an experience. I enjoyed most of the lectures, they were very interesting. We touched many topics that need to be discussed more often while enjoying some humor at the same time. As long and you get all the homework done on time and show your face in class you'll pass. I'd definitely take this class again!

If you're looking to actually get something out of class, this is the teacher for you. There's weekly homework but its easy and you'll actually learn from it. Lectures make you think and are engaging. He's a super cool and reasonable dude. Would take again 10/10!!!

Chill professor. Prepare 15 six-word sentences discussion every week. Mine was during summer, so it's faster and more work every week. Exam is 500 words, do it and it's easy A.

Professor Argen is a philosopher. He makes class enjoyable between videos that relate to the curriculum and examples you can relate to. If you do your homework you will pass and the homework is very easy. I have attended both philosophy and ethics with this professor and both times I have enjoyed his class.

One of my favorite classes I have ever taken. Read one book throughout the semester & write 15-word-sentences for each chapter. Really clear exams and discussions. I took it in summer (more work per week) but was worth it. If you actually do the readings it is an extremely thought-provoking and interesting course.

Really good professor, Took this course online easy A however you must do and turn in assignments on time if you want an A/B only downside is he takes an automatic 30% off each late assignment. He will call on you each lecture, Will ask for comments on issues and then discuss them and mainly give his input and dismiss yours entirely.

Nothing to really say about Professor Argen. The main issue with this class was assignments were not clear at all. All assignments were super easy, exams were discussion board, nothing is proctored. This class was just busy work and you don't really learn much. Good choice if he's available and you want an easy A. He sometimes responded fast.

Discussion based! Easy after understanding the flow of how to complete discussions. Discussions require a six word max per line. Words must make sense. Requires creativity and willingness to be receptive to ideas. Reading the book, suggested. Gives great feedback. Instructions can be a tad confusing. One T/F Exam. One Essay. Not a harsh grader.

Very fun professor but when it came to assignments, he was very particular. Make sure to read through all of the assignments! Don't wait until the last minute. He does respond very fast to emails. You do have to write 6 word sentences in this class! He prefers straight to the point.

HE IS AWESOME. He is such a good prof and made coming to class extremely enjoyable. I feel like he finds ways to connect with his students through his lectures and definitely keeps our attention throughout the lecture. I would absolutely take his class again. TAKE THIS CLASS. Yes philosophy is boring because you have to learn about topics that no one in the world cares to know about today. But after taking this class, I was super interested in the topics we discussed. The assignments are SWS and a couple open forums and about 3 "tests". Read the textbook, take notes, do the assignments. You will pass.

If you are on the fence about taking Philosophy TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Out of any class that I have taken at HCC so far, this one is the best! Don't let the six word sentences scare you, he is a very fair grader. Participation matters! I created an account on Rate My Professor just so I can express how incredible this class was!!!

he speaks in code and sometimes you'll be scratching your head reading the instructions for assignments, its philosophy. but you'll get the hang of it as time goes along. do the work and you'll get an A.

Dr. Argen is a wonderful professor. His class is very easy, as long as you keep up with assignments and show up to class you'll get an A. He's very funny and easy-going. He jokes around with students and says off-the-wall things to keep us engaged in the lecture. Take his class for an easy A.

at first, I was super confused with his assignments, but its philosophy so makes sense. Once you master your first "six-word sentence" and stop over thinking the class is a breeze. The professor is super nice and funny his assignments are always entertaining and creative.

Awesome guy, the classes were really engaging and funny. The topic may not be for everyone and that's totally respectable, even with that in mind the classes were well worth the mind-boggling and whacky assignments. Perfectly shows how confusing ethics/philosophy are. Attendance is only worth about 5% of the grade, but I'd still go.

Professor's assignments take some getting used to, but the class is a breeze with engagement. unstuck study's question banks helped me ace the tests. Funny and approachable - would definitely take again.

The professor himself is very blunt and direct when it comes to engaging with his students, so most of the classes required active discussion and dialouge between students, which can be a hassle for introverts but also pushed students outside their comfort zones. All of the assisgments were discussion posts including the exams. Reddit saved me!

Assignments are required to be six-word sentences. Make sure to give yourself time because the articles and some videos are long. Many topics covered can be a bit sensitive, however I think that's why Professor Argen picks them! It was enjoyable to hear about other students points of view. This class did challenge me and opened my mind.

1000/10 would recommend this was the EASIEST class i have probably taken, just be sure to submit your attendance and you will be fine, trust me you will get a A in this class

TAKE THIS CLASS FOR SUMMER! The size will be smaller and I honestly felt like this professor worked amazingly with my class because of this. He created a great environment for discussion and I still think about his lectures a year later. Just pay attention, participate, and you'll be okay. He's got a dry, but funny sense of humor.

Prof. Argen's style is very unique. The assignments are six word sentences. This review's written like the assignments. The value comes from showing up. Argen provokes lots of valuable thought. There's some amount of writing involved. Overall it is an easy grade. Just show up and engage, participate. Raised hands made the class interesting.
