a lot of book work, read the material
a lot of reading, but made history interesting, even though i don't like it

really really boring. cant teach. so much reading. makes you take a quiz on material, BEFORE he goes over the material. very stubborn. not a good choice.
omg one of my favorite teachers ever...not a lot of work, made history very interesting, you have to read some books but they're not bad at all, he gives you midterm questions ahead of time and final is a take home
He offers to bring you to lunch if you get a question right during class. No one ever went because he underminded us by not teaching.
Chapter Review questions every week are a pain, but the little known fact is you can work in groups for those. Otherwise not too bad. Way better than most of the other HI 30 teachers.

Comes across as hard, but is a very easy grader and nice guy...didn't do ANYTHING and i got a B+
most boring class IN the entire world, but i've heard the other HI 30 teachers are awful, so i guess he is an enthusiastic guy...review ?'s every week, 3 books, finals and midterms are easy, papers suck and sometimes he surprises u with assignments
Chapter review questions each week got annoying, but they paid off when I had to do the take home midterm and final. A good amount of reading but he's a great teacher for HI30.
His lectures make you want to fall asleep. His grading is unclear. Exams are next to impossible. Nothing is gained from taking his class. It may actually make you less intelligent
if you honestly like coury.. then you have a problem. 1. he's DISGUSTING and unkempt 2. his class isn't too hard, but he isn't a fair grader on the large exams 3. there is nobody more boring except for Bradford. Take Court

Not a lot of work...4 two page papers...topics of unpapers are a little unclear, but if you ask him for help, he is very helpful and works with you to get the best grade you can get
I really don't think hes that bad. The lectures are boring but if u pay attention he gives you the answers to most of the review questions...its alot of reading but not hard readings. He cracks himself up all the time and never lets u out early.
court used to be cool...now he is just a conceeded man who loves to hear himself talk and doesnt really say anything worthwile..class isnt too hard but SO BORING and i dont think he ever learned how to grade

He has the best hair by far of any teacher and wears the sickest suspenders. Overall he's a pretty good guy...he's pretty flexible.
JUST GOT A HAIR CUT. HE'S THE WORST TEACHER HE IS SO ARROGANT AND SO BORING. HE WON'T LOOK OVER YOUR TEST OR TELL YOU WHY HE TOOK POINTS OFF.

Sure, there's not much work... but the tests(mid/final) and papers(3pg/6pg) are extremely hard. This is the hardest professor I have had. My overall GPA is between B+ and A-. I got a C, doing nothing. He's nice, but you get what you get with this guy.
He comes off as being pretentious, but he definitely knows his subjects and is willing to help you learn. He even gives extra credit points for "aiding to the Socratic learning of others." Plus, he's adorable.
I was told he was easy and the class seemed to be pretty straight foward, but it seemed no matter what I did he would always give me a B. Comes off a little arrogant and doesnt seem to realize most people only take HI30 because they have to.
Such a great teacher! He's down to earth, fun, smart, helpful, and he makes even the most boring subjects pretty interesting. Great guy, not a bad class, not too much work, definitely recommended.
a lot of work at begining of semester- but then it slowed down just when the other classes were extremely busy, so it worked out well. Very helpful and knowledgable. His passion for the subject keeps your attention. Great teacher

The class is a true lecture class. The man is very knowledgable, but can often diverge and lecture about interesting, but not related to course materials. He is pretty fair with his grading, and you get what you deserve. Study for the midterm and final

Professor Court will be missed. Such a nice, down to earth professor that cared about his students. Fair amount of workload and knows something about everything. One of my favorite teachers that the school has decided to not renew. Not a great decision.
the west & the middle east is the worst class u could possibly take. its practically anti-american. he doesn't care about students, people in the class asked for extra credit & he said no way. the material is horrible, save yourself, don't take it!!!
He is a good teacher and really enthusiastic about Italy!!!

the handouts are double oc and the books are really boring, but the class was sort of interesting. He is a nice guy and understanding.
I was unsure about him in the beginning with regards to his unclarity with papers & grades, but he turned out to be an excellent teacher. He knows his Italian history and the class is interesting. If you work hard and show effort, you'll do well. It doesn't hurt that he's a cutie either!
Not a bad class, he gives you an A with minimal work, but is soo out there and random with his discussion, i recoment him but do not go to class, no need for it
I can't say enough bad things about him in 300 words. He's arrogant, unhelpful, and a horrible teacher. One day another prof filled in for him, and I learned more in that one 50 min. class than i did during the entire rest of the semester with court. I had heard he was easy, but HE IS DEF. NOT!!!
TOO many handouts and he expects you to have them all with you for every class. opinated. not sure where he gets his grades from. not a very linear class - he sort of just jumps around. take a mcfadden class instead.
it's hard to say...he's a good teacher but then again he's not. when you show up for class, there's a 50/50 chance that what he talks about in class will be at all pertinent to what ur supposed to be studying. class CAN be interesting, it depends. if you want to do well you have to read on ur own.
Great guy and a nice teacher. Vague at times but if you study for the exams and do the two papers he assigns, you'll be fine.
I dont know what is going on in this class still.. he rambles on and on. awful teacher. Everything we talk about he says he is pondering writing a book about it. Not as cool as he tries to be.
Can be vague at times but he really wants the best of his students. I feel bad he was offended by other people's comments. I agree that the comments were harsh and immature, but other professors get even worse remarks. He shouldn't take so much offense to this web site. Overall, good guy though.
what a baby! he read the comments about him and go so offended that he came into class, made a 15 minute speech about how these comments dont represent him, then cancelled the final 2 classes and told us to hand in our paper the day of the final. way to completely overreact!

Court is one of the most dedicated & talented professors at FU. I learned soo much in his classes and he's always willing to help students. FU will be losing a great wealth of knowledge and a truly genuine person in his leaving. Anyone who has yet to realize how awesome he is is really missing out

He is incredibly stuck up and pompous. He thinks he is the greatest person to walk the earth, and is extremely unhelpful one on one. Do not take this class if you want to learn about history. His lectures are so scrambled that you never even know what century he is talking about--horrible teacher
Lots of handouts which are easy to carry. A lot of cool stuff about the Arab influence. Overall, a great class!
really fun..hes such a goof ball and his lectures are interesting, hes a good grader..def reccomend for italian history
Court is an intersting man. I think for our final he only graded the ten identifications and that was our grade, minus the essay we had to write. Grades easy, and in short, not a bad history course to take for core completion. He wants you to learn, and if you go to his office hours, you should do well in his class.

He is sooo crazy and cool to be around. I cant understand why anybody would bash this guy. He is straight up a great teacher and tries to relate to you as the student. Not to mention he is a pretty fine piece of @$$
He is the best teacher at this school. He is extremely smart and helpful. He wants his students to do well, if you show an interest in his class. Go to his office hours, talk to him.. Tests and papers are not hard...I don't know why people have said bad things about him, he is a really good teacher and nice guy.
definitely the way to go for history class. Work seems overwhelming at first but you don't have to do it. Gives you ids.essay q's for mid term and final so you don't have to read ahead of time. Two papers, grades easy. One of the only teachers who actually doesn't care about grades and is interested in the material.
Best guy in world. Funny as hell. Has a passion for the subject. If he wasnt a professor he would be a cool guy to hang out with.

Nice guy, very passionate about history. Lectures can be a bit over the top, but overall the class is not hard. Just put in some effort on the papers and see him during office hours and you should do fine.
coury is a weird and funny guy. excessive reading required but you dont really have to read all of it. no tests, just papers and he doesnt grade too hard. class itself can be boring as hell, but also interesting at times. there are def worse history profs so i would recommend him
Can be boring at times but also kinda funny. He has a weird sense of humor, and oh yeah he'll dance if you're lucky. I enjoyed his class and did not have to exert too much effort to get a B. If you're looking for an easy course, Prof Coury is not the right teacher. He required LOTS of reading, there are 5 different reading materials. His quizzes and exams required you to really analyze and understand the reading. Hard grader, your answer must be very detail to get a good grade. Though he has some humor. NOT FOR A NON-HISTORY MAJOR.
Alright. I did okay in his class without much effort, but to be honest I only got one perspective on the conflicts in the Middle East. He constantly said he'd eventually show another perspective, but maybe he ran out of time...because he didn't. He is a nice guy though.
He was always a nice guy and cared about his students learning but he is retiring. There was a lot of reading but I got an A by going over every chapter question sheet before the test. 2 tests, final, and a paper. I really don't know why other people in the class didn't get higher grades though.

Took the course for the upper level history and US div. credit. It was my worst choice. His lectures are terrible and boring. I feel he just likes to hear himself talk. There are 2 in class tests and 2 essays. Nobody in the class can figure out where he pulls his test questions from. The essays are very hard and vague. DO NOT TAKE.
okay as a history minor, this was one of the hardest history classes I've ever taken. his lectures are super hard to follow and boring. he literally sits at his desk for the entire 1 and 15 mins sitting at his desk talking at you. however, he is a nice guy and he is well versed in history but his lectures are too hard to follow.
