His teaching is not ineterested.You have to study on your own again.But the tests are not very difficult.

Great teacher, goes by the book. Very easy to get an A if you read the book. He grades test on a curve and you get points back doing re-writes. He's a kinda disorangized at times. But trust me if you were to take econ, get this guy.

he doesn't even have control over his class. i bet i wouldn't even have to attend and i'll get an A as long as I studied all the material in the book.

He's the man to get for econ 1 and 2. I won't even stress how much harder the other econ prefessors are, but just consider this: Dieter goes entirely by the textbook, even if you never go to class, you miss all of your tests, as long as you do well on your 2 midterms and 1 final, you get an A.

took class in winter, he was quite easy. his tests were like ridiculously easy, and he also let us use cheat sheets. allowed for test rewrites to gain a better grade. overall, the subject was easy to soak in. would recommend to anybody that wants to take econ 2. i didnt even buy the book, nor did i read it, and i was few points (2%) from an A.

actually he is a good professor in elac. sometimes people think his test is so hard or not good. actually is NOT. he is willing to help student, and if you study, the test all based on the textbook, you just have to read the textbook then come to take the test,that's it. I recommend people to take him!!!

He is not a bad teacher. His tests are easy. All you have to do is read the book. You will get a good grade. The only bad thing about him is he treats his students like grade school.

Dieter is a VERY good Economics professor! I learned a lot in my first Microecon class in the summer and got the A. Granted, a weakness in his style are the bookkeeping stuff (attendance, paperwork, etc.)But his lectures are great - very rich and insightful that makes the reading much easier. Highly recommend him if you're open-minded and you READ!

He's a JC prof that teaches at a state/uc level, and if it's too hard for you, then good luck passing at the university! I'll take great pleasure in you taking my order at Mcdonalds scrubs.

i think he is a good teacher, yes, he is not fun, even hard sometimes.His quizzes are easy as long as u get the main points of the lesson, reading is very helpful in taking his tests, u can also have one page of note for the tests, which is very helpful.Just do a little studying then u can pass his class easily. Overall, he is a good professor.

He was a bit mean, but he is organized. I like when he uses the projection for lectures, not like when the teachers write on the board because it gets messy. If you are willing to take him, you have to suck up to his mean attitude, and you have to be quiet, and try not to leave his class early! one more, TURN YOUR CELLS OFF! he gets crazy about it

Awesome prof. The test are kind of hard. All you need to do to pass his class is show up to class and carefully read the textbook. He is very organized and if you are interested in the subject, class could be fun.

Stern but fair. Your grade depends on how much time you put into the class. I work full time and I got a B for both Econ 1 and Econ 2.

He tends to use dvd presentations,they are on the tests.Note on the names (in the dvds). He's very knowledgeable but has an ego. Weather you fight him or love him he will be fair. he is an easy teacher has a big ego! all the quizes are EASY! but he gives two midterms and one final.. they are nothing compare to the easy quizes..but he give a study guide so if you study you'll pass!

Mr Dieter is a hardass, but thats just him. Hes not boring, and he is very strict about cells; he does something cool with quizes: he doesn't include them in your grade, but your quiz average will replace your lowest scored exam(if its higher)

He's okay. And I second the previous comment about the quizzes. Overall, he's pretty good as a teacher, and the material isn't hard to grasp. Ppl usually criticize him for going directly by the book, but this way, if you're forced to miss a day, you won't be left too behind. He's bit condescending-- not too, too bad though. The professor does read straight from the book. The quizzes he gives out are easy, but the test he gives out is not. He made the course very dull for me. The clock in the classroom moved very slowly. I felt the class was never going to end!

He is so strict, but inside I think he is a nice person. Hate the way he makes us pay for other people's "externalities" but i guess they are part of life lessons. His class made me think more about politics and life. Take it if you are committed and want to learn something! You need to take notes, read, and study for this class. Don't be lazy

Let's face it, Economics is not fun. He is better than Professor Caballes and has his student's interest in mind. He may be strict and anal retentive, but he gets his job done. Cheat sheets are allowed for mid-terms and finals and as long as you attend everyday, you should pass. If you don't do well on the midterm, he will give a redo test.

Dieter may seem a bit stiff but its just so pple will respect him. he is a good econ teach and i learned alot! i got an A in 1&2 you just have to take good notes AND read the book! he gives you a 1 page cheat sheet for all test nd quizes are easy! if you dont do well on a test, hell give you extra cred. he's anal about things but overall good teach

although he has a strange personality, he is fair w/grading. reading the book really helps, but his lectures are more useful since that's the stuff he tests u on. go to class so u'll know what's important. the midterms and finals are harder than the quizzes. that's because the quizzes are so easy. i got an A, so it's not impossible.

the class is not that hard if you spend time to prepare the test because he allows cheat sheet during the midterm and final. take the advantage of the cheat sheet. he teaches things not just in the textbook.

Highly recommend Dieter.I took him Fall 09. He outlined basically everything you need to know on test and gives good examples. Even lets the class use a "cheat sheet" for tests and finals. Don't mess around in his class or have you cell go off because he gets aggro. Overall, just read the chapter, take notes and you'll do well.

I took Econ 1 and 2 with Dieter. 4 years later his teaching has got me through a 4 year university with a strong economic background. I just graduated with a degree in finance and thanks to Dieter, i have a strong economic background. Now i'm going to get my S7 license and become a stock broker.

Prof. Dieter's teaching is clear and very good. He uses presentations and video. Very good class. However, many students find his German character annoying. He wants you to follow every instruction as if you are in military. EVERY SINGLE WORD of instruction is important. Follow General Dieter's orders, and you'll enjoy the class.

This teacher really explains things thoroughly! You have got to do your end of the reading in this class! If not (like in any class) you will not do too good. Quizzes after a few chapters. 2 midterms and a final. not too difficult just pay attention in class! He has his own version of economics at times and you must pay attention! Good Luck!

His powerpoint and lectures teach you exactly what you need to know but reading the text is still a bonus. Not much homework. Shows videos which does show up again as quiz/test questions. Be warned, his personality is overbearing. His reactions to students are not entirely agreeable. He also does have favorites.

Very specific questions regarding material. Abrasive personality (he cusses you out if he finds it neccesary)but entertaining if you are not the victim of his outbursts. Do NOT move desks.

He is a good teacher. He knows the subject and is always up to date on it. Even his little biased political opinion helps the student relate Economics with the real world. If you are in any of the business majors, I recommend you take his class with an intention of enjoying it.

Mr.Dieter looks difficult outside, but inside he is really a good teacher ^_^. He won't fail you if you work hard and participate in his questions. You will get extra credits which help to supports your bad grades. ^_^

Professor Dieter is great. I took his Econ2 in summer and learned much. Finally, I got an A with hard working.In the fall semester, I took his Econ1 with huge confidence. I got 140/150 in final with an easy A. I have no idea why people say his class is hard. Professor Dieter likes to push people to study well, and I strongly recommend his class.

Not an easy class but an A is possible. Subscription to BusinessWeek isn't necessary. Little incentive to pay attention to lecture when it's exactly off PWPs that he posts online for his students. Paying attention definitely helps b/c he does have quiz/tests Qs based off what he talks about and what he shows in class. Reading the text REALLY helps

I went in as a Business Major and came out an Economics Major. Mr. Dieter is clear, concise and excels at tying theoretical concepts and practices to real world examples. He supplements teaching from the textbook with videos from youtube and DVDs and I especially like his use of the film 'Inside Job'. TL;DR effective, clear insightful inspirational

Professor Dieter's class was well taught because it went along with the book. He was very clear since the beginning that you must read, be present and pay attention to his class. Nothing out of the ordinary; it is what you must do in any class to succeed. I liked how he used youtube videos to explain macroeconomic concepts! They were very helpful.

He's very professional in teaching economics. Gives a lot of useful advice that will "bring you up." To get an A, read through the book is definitely necessary. Be active in class or you'll lose the participate points. He's strict but really helpful. Midterms were hard though final was pretty easy. I suggest him for hard-working students.

Dieter's class is straight forward. Do your homework and study, you should be able to pass the class. Quizzes help and don't hurt your grade. For example if you score higher on your quizzes and do poorly on the mid-term, he will take the quiz average. Open notes for mid-term and final. Definitely recommend taking this teacher.

am currently taking this class. he talks a lot.. sometimes about random useless things. but when it comes to his lecture.. he's actually a really good teacher. he does a pretty good job of summarizing the book.. so his lectures are sufficient that i can honestly say you don't need the book. rambles on a lot sometimes tho.

All you need to know in order to pass this class is to Read and listen to class. If you can do both of those, its an easy A class. This class has really little homework, but there are extra credits you can get from this class. If you are serious about this class, do extra credits! He tests you on what u learn in class,videos and books. Good Luck!

I'll be honest, Ralph Dieter is the best teacher I've had in college. He is extremely helpful and genuinely wants you to succeed. He is very clear during his lectures and tells you exactly what you'll be tested on. If you want to succeed in his class, you can if you really try. I wish college had more teachers like him. He is very funny and cool.

if you are paying for your education & you want what you pay for, Prof Dieter is very knowledgeable in Economics he's tough often corrects students in manners but its because hes helping you develop professional manners in the real world He's a good professor you will leave class with a better understanding of Economics/Politics MUST ATTEND CLASS

So far P.Dieter is a good Econ professor I'd at Elac. Do not get discouraged if u screw up his quizzes and midterm. If u get A in the final then u get A even though he made it different in his syllabus. Read the book & review the quizzes before tests, which is the key to passing the class. I came out his class getting A & B.

He is such a great professor, sometimes weird, but very knowledgeable. His quizzes are not that hard. Just study the terminology in the margins of the book and you will be fine. Taking notes from videos is very helpful. Took both econ 1 n 2 and I certainly recommend him!He's easy compared to other Econ Profs. Allow cheat sheets for Mid and final!

Honestly, Dieter is the best Econ Professor in ELAC. Since my major is Maths/Econ, Econ class is very important for me. So I took the first class of every Econ professor, and Dieter is the best. His class is very clear and organized, but it's true that we left a few chapters before final :(. But I do appreciate that he didnot want to rush on it.

Dieter is a good professor. His class is not easy, but you get what you work for. I finish all the homework, econportal(2 chp not done),got a B on the first midterm,because no time for the second midterm ( you can make a appointment to take it if you want), he prepares you a few options, what do you expect? He has a horrible personality. But his teaching was helpful, you just need to pay extra attention on his ground rules and behave yourself in class. Comparing with other Econ teachers at Elac, he still the best instructor. His class is easy to pass, but not easy to get a decent grade. If u want learn Econ, I recommend him!!!

Be on his good side. Don't talk back or talk at all during lectures. Show up on time. Participate. Read ahead. Do the homework. Be professional. Take film notes (highly suggested). Don't be afraid to fail but do your best. Use your best writing skills.Fill up your exam notes sheets. Don't leave anything out. I got an A. It's not impossible.Cheers!

This is a pretty good professor, if you are willing to major in business. His quiz were easy, even though I did not do so good. first midterm was alright, skipped second midterm, and Final was not that difficult.

Pretty good professor, really try's to show you how to learn. His tests were not hard problem was you really have to pay attention to the videos take good and I mean really good notes on what they say on those videos and who says it along with the reading and you should have it made

During a pop quiz write down the question and answer, read-and take notes of all power point lectures. Read all hand outs that are separate from you text-book reading. If you watch a DVD make sure you netflex it or youtube it because it will be on mid term and final. do all the home work assignments for the extra credit! Grades with overall curve.

Finance, Accounting, Economic majors pay attention and you be convinced he is one of the best econ professors. If you are not willing to pay attention, focus and maybe supplement with a video outside of class, do not whine about your grade. Khan academy provides some online videos to supplement his lectures. Lectures + videos A for sure.

Just pay attention in lecture and you'll ace the exams. I don't understand the poor reviews here.

I really enjoyed taking Econ 1 & 2. I would definitely recommend him. He is a great professor that gets right to business. As students we are there to learn, and that is his intent for everyone to learn his material.

This man is a legend in economics! He definitely knows what he is talking about. It does get tough though so make sure you study and stay on top of your readings. Would recommend taking if looking for a challenge.
