Chemistry is a very hard class in general. Having Duarte to teach was a life saver. He loves chemistry and will talk for hours. He has no problem going over examples again to help you understand. He even met with our class on two separate occassions for a study group before the final. I could not recomend a much better professor. The best by far.

I had him for CHM1033 & CHM1033L the book for the lab is mandatory, but for the lecture not so much. He is a great professor, I took his class on sat mornings! i thought it would be a horrible thing to do, but not at all, he makes the class interesting and explains things well. I recommend him. His class is condensed. What he teaches in class is what you need to know. Do all of the homework and you have an A on the tests, what's on the hw is what's on the test. I got an A in chemistry thanks to Prof.Duarte! What a great teacher. Do the H/W assignment and the test are more or less the same. You have to take notes and study but he explains it so well. Even if u have 2 travel far like I did to take him do it! It's worth it!

The best professor i ever had. He explains very well. Your grade in his class is composed of two quizzes(15pts each); two homework assignment (5pts each) and one midterm and one final (30 pts each). His quizzes are no longer than 4 to 5 questions exams are about 11 to 15 questions(30pts each).Do the homework and you will do great!my grade was an A

CHEMISTRY EWWW!!! That was 12 weeks ago now its no soo bad! This man has some powers because there is no way I could've gotten an A in Chem. HE IS THE BEST!!! I took him in the summer and he worked over time for us, meeting up three times outside of clas time finals week, that's what you call dedication. Teaches @ Mercy Hosp. and InterAmerican.

I will have to say this is one of the best professors I have taken at MDC College. I just took his summer class at Mercy hospital. He does meet up with the class out of his own personal time to go over mid-term and finals to help you review. He even stayed after class on Sundays for more than 1 hour after class just to answer anyones questions.

I actually received an A n Chemistry and I am an Art major, I had no idea what Chemistry was; if this guy helped me learn chemistry I'm sure he can do the same for you. ignore these reviews saying he moves through the material too quickly. his class is cake. and with it being such a small class size compared to the CHM classes given at kendall (with like 60 people) i feel he went through the material at a good pace and answered any questions anybody had.

Before this professor, I hard time with Chemistry, considering the fact that I haven't had chemistry since high school. However this particular professor made Chemistry so easy understandable to me in 12wks,his exams are about 4-12 questions long and all powerpoint slides no book needed for this class. He's simple, and homework is easy too.

Great Professor, very helpful. The first half of the semester can be a bit challenging if you do not like mathformulas, but he does explain the subject really well. No need for a textbook, his PP includes everything you need to get an A. He is big in attendance though.

He makes chm really easy to understand. If you do the hw which he also gives you credit for it you will ace the test. The test are actually easier than the work assignment. You can't go wrong take him and you'll pass with flying colors

This teacher makes chemistry seem simple. It was a great class, to the point I was sad the last day. Teacher is very sweet and funny. The test were very simple, easy A.. but that's only because you did the Work Assignment. Everything on the test has to do with the Work Assignment. Would recommend teacher to others.

BEST PROF EVER! He makes you like chm. I took him for summer A, it was tough but he would take after class and he would explain to you. You have 2 progress exams (4 questions), midterm(12 questions) and final (12 questions). He has a final review class before final test. If chemistry scares you a bit, TAKE HIM. His lectures are very easy to understand and his tests are super straight forward. He's a great person who actually enjoys teaching. Tests are based off powerpoints which he also provides online, he gives out an optional review that also helps a lot. He made me LOVE and APPRECIATE chemistry.

Professor Duarte truly loves what he does and it is evident in the way he teaches. This professor is very caring and is there to help you. The class is difficult because it is a lot of material in a short amount of time but he does his best to make it easy on his students. I am sure the students that did not pass were the same students that did not show up to most of his lectures...

He does sometimes go a little too far in making sure you understand what he is teaching but that goes to show how good of a teacher he is. Everyone needs to take him. 4 quizzes, 2 big test, 2 hw. Go over the PowerPoints and practice with the hw, easy A.

Thanks to this professor I was able to pass CHM1045. There's no other professor like him. I wish I could take him for ALLLLL the chemistry classes. I'm so thankful with him

I love this professor ! Its an easy A only if you study. He is VERY kind and is willingly to take an extra mile in order for you to understand. I recommend this professor for chemistry. Professor Duarte did an amazing job teaching my class. This was my second time taking this course because my first professor was awful. Duarte actually teaches you in a manner where it's so easy to understand what he's teaching. The best part is that he lets you know exactly whats on the exam so you're prepared. overall this course was awesome.

He will help you to understand the material with easy explanations. 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final, and 2 work assignments (5 pts each) which prepare you for the quizzes, mid and final. He's very patient and he will explain you as many times you need it. Take him! You won't regret. No book, no code required.

Prof. Duarte is the best professor I have ever had, he is one of those that genuinely cares. He is so sweet and if you have any problems understanding the subject he does not mind explaining as many times as you need. He gives you two work assignments that are worth 5 points each, if you do the work assignments you are guaranteed to pass the exams!

This professor is amazing. I took this class last semester and it was the most enjoyable class I ever had. He explained the material in an easy and natural way that helps you to remember the material. Study guides and extra credit. Long guides, but if you work on it, you will get your A. I was very cautious entering chemistry, there has been rumors of people taking the class twice and even three times. My experience with Professor Duarte was the contrary. He is the best chemistry (lecture) teacher in Miami Dade College, hands-down!!! He stays before class and after class to help his students. He has a lot of experience!!! He also summaries the chemistry book for his students. How many professors do that? The homework questions are similar to the quizzes, mid and final.

He only uses ppts but goes in depth and explains everything very well. He gets to class an hour early and he helps with the HW and gives everyone the answers. Only 2 work assignments all term. Cares a lot about his students. Tests are 5 questions so you better pass but they are cake if you know the material. Study, ask questions, and you will pass.

Professor Duarte is seriously amazing! Chem is a scary subject to many, but he makes is plain simple and oddly enough, fun. I would say this professor is one of the best that MDC has. I am about to graduate with my associates this year and of all the professors I have taken, I can honestly say only 3 have been great, he is one of them! TAKE HIM.

Ralph Duarte is one of the most amazing professors I have had to date. So much so that even a semester after taking him he still left a impact on me. Chemistry is not an easy subject and it is indeed intimidating but MAN professor Duarte makes it crystal clear. At first glance the power points seem confusing but as soon as he starts explaining things you begin to understand the material. He will help you as long as you approach him.

Best chem professor! He made chemistry very fun and easy to learn. As long as you study, you will pass the class. All the lectures are pre-recorded for every chapter but he also reviews during class time and helps if you don't understand something.

You do have to work for your grade and study but he makes things so easy and understandable. He currently has prerecorded lectures you can refer to which is great with such heavy material. There are 4 exams and be mindful that he grades how you show work as well. Just study and practice and you'll pass the class. Take him!

He will tell you to buy the book. Don't buy the book. His prerecorded lectures and powerpoints are more than enough and was all I needed to pass the semester. Four exams total and two work assignments. You do have to study and I'll be honest it can be very intensive, especially toward the end of the semester but study and you'll be fine. Take him!
