He is ok
Ralph is a good instructor. He makes the class very fun and interesting. He make sure that the students understand him and he's very well-organized. If you read through his lecture notes and do the practice questions, there's no way you could fail midterm and final. I would recommend him.
Nice Guy, very helpful. Read the notes and do the practice questions and you will pass. Beware of randomly places group project.
Ralph is very helpful teacher, he's also funny. His classes were extremely boring, but he's tryin so hard to make his class engaging and less boring.attendance & participation worth 10%. his class was pretty easy, exams too, lots of memorization though. i got the highest mark on midterm, missed lots of classes messed up on project but still got B.
Terrific Instructor. He lays down everything for you. You take it you get it. You snooze, you loose. Read some before class and you will fly. He is more into perfection which should be good for your future.
He is a very nice guy. His young so most students do identify with him. He works for Coke, which makes it interesting. Attendance is mandatory and participation is worth 10%. Exams are not hard, however you have to memorize the book, word by word. The lecture might take you down if your group is bad. Everything else is good. I recommend.
Major component of this class is group work, and how effective you are establishing working relationships. Ralph is a great instructor, attendance is mandatory.
Terrific Instructor. He is Well prepared, knowledgeable, care for students so very helpful with best time management. This is college so do not rely on lecture alone. He recognises your effort and response. Class is interesting but lots of business terms to learn.
Ralph is a very good instructor, would recommend him. This course all about the memorization and his notes, not necessary to have a textbook. Group project is very important.
Ralph is a tough instructor, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Great lessons for us to take away about teamwork.
He is a good teacher, friendly and helpful.Make sure u study your notes and you'll do fine in his class. The only thing i hated was the group project. Not a hard class at all, very passable.
Ralph is super friendly. I would definitely recommend taking one of his classes. His notes are clear and well laid out. You don’t need the text as long as you read over all his notes.
RALPH IS THE MAN! Take his class ! you will not regret it. Best teacher at douglas. He actually cares about his students and strives for them to succeed!
RALPH IS A G! Such an amazing teacher who makes a 3 hour class actually enjoyable to come to . Totally recommend him. Great prof!
NICE TEACHER FUNNY MAKES INTEREST IN CLASS NOT BORING
Ralph is Amazing!!!! I don't know where they found him from; but please Douglas College, go get more instructors like him!
He has the knowledge and teaching skills which makes it easier to learn the course content. Also, the course work load is equally distributed thru out the course which was easy to manage. I wish Douglas College had more instructors like him. He is an amazing teacher!
Ralph is such a good teacher; he’s a nice guy and always checks to see if you understand; he’s always on email so getting help on the weekends is easy; and he’s super funny at applying the course to real life work examples; the group project is tough, but gets you ready for the business world; word of advice- you need to take Ralph for 1210 or 3350
He is great with online lecture notes and pop quizes derive you to focue on your lecture.
Ralph is a great professor. He's so accommodating and professional. He always checks the attendance, so I would recommend you to attend his all his classes if you wanna get the full 5% for participation. He gives sample exam prior to the actual exam, so you'll get an idea how the exam is. STUDY those sample exams because they really help as guide.
Like his style, really helpful. Case study is really hard but manageable.
Better be interested in group projects. They are definitely somewhat tough and requires at least some efforts level. The midtermfinal exam is not hard at all if you give yourself some studying aspects. Ralph is a fair grader in most situations. Note: There is a paper AND ''presentation''.
GREAT PROF! Taught very well. You will spend time going over what he teaches in class. No homework, but do readings. Very easy to approach and talk to. Gives a LOT of feedback and every chance to pass. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND
No point making students do group case worth 20 percent and exact same individually. Strict marker!
Ralph's a totally cool dude. He likes to really get to know his students. He's a great prof, and really quick with feedback and marks. This course was far more challenging than I expected, but it was definitely interesting. It involves a group presentation and report, 2 individual assignments, a MT and a final. Take it with Ralph if you can. :)
Great teacher. Clear lectures and provides relevant real life examples. Though, group paperpresentation and individual paper so you will be busy. He is a fair marker so make sure you actually apply textbook concepts to paper and tests with analytical substance.
Amazing! Ralph is awesome. His lectures are very good and clear. I highly recommend him.
I've taken a few classes with Ralph over the years. He's a good teacher, clear and consice . There are group projects and individual papers (case studies) and is a fair marker of them. His lectures are easy to follow and keep students engaged. Textbook use is fair, if you read the chapter summaries instead of each chapter you'll be fine.
Very interesting lectures.
Dont take him ever. Do course somewhere else rather!
Great teacher. Nice guy and has lots of energy. He knows a lot about business and industry. Assignments are tough and take so much work. I learned a lot. Be prepared to work.
He is nice and funny and class is pretty interesting. His lecture notes are posted and easy. I didn't even buy the book. Every class has a different activity or group game. Prepare for group work-especially if you get a bad group. I recommend him.
He has a lot of knowledge. He is very helpful and tries hard to make sure that you understand. Very informational class and good teacher.
I can't get how someone can make a negative comment on Ralph. Maybe he is too nice, still acts like a manager and feels accountable for people's success. Great teacher. Actually one of those 20% of college instructors who teaches and not instructs how to read a text book, and who cares. Very well knowledgeable, very fun, very interesting.
In my opinion, the way he teaches HR is very ineffective. In my opinion ,He is boring and mostly relies on his powerpoints. You dont even have to take any notes. IN MY OPINION HE IS Very unfair proffesor too!
Great class, very informative, and great instructor. Ralph is a nice guy but he's strict. He checks attendance, so if you plan on skipping, then he'll catch you. His lecture notes are identical to the textbook.
Ralph is a nice guy who tries hard to make the course interesting with good examples and good jokes. His class activities are fun and you can expect to apply each chapter with a different game. Definitely a good teacher to take.
Awesome teacher. Classes are interesting every time and he's pretty funny. Nice guy overall.
He is the bestest professor at douglas college. I would say if u haven't taken a course from this guy, your study at douglas is worthless. I took 2 subjects from him. Wish he taught all my other subjects
too much group work. not a suitable professor for students who like doing their work individually.
He's a fair instructor. If you come to class then you will know exactly what to study for exams. His lecture notes are clear and make sense. He has interesting lectures that aren't too long. He gives clear instructions about what he wants on assignments. If you read and pay attention, then this class is a breeze.
Ralph is fairly nice, has clear lectures. He's grading is fair as well and he's looking for lots of participation. But as much I recommend to take his class, I would also recommend you to not use your phone during his class. He doesn't like it.
Lectures are very long and boring, however I don't believe that is a reflection of Ralph as a professor but more of the course. It is detailed and definitely requires a LOT of time and effort to get a good grade. Ralph is a fair marker. He is big on participation and attendance, and don't dare touch your phone. Would take Ralph again
A great class and a great instructor. Ralph's classes are very organized and interesting. In this class he provided countless examples of real world business situations. He comes to each class well prepared and expects the same from students. A good choice for those who want to improve their business knowledge.
He's a hard instructor and expects more than most from you. I got killed on the first paper but eventually got the concepts. If you can bare and grin through the amount of work then you will get a lot out of this course.
IF enrolling in BUS1210 , he's the best you could find.
Great teacher. Ralph is very clear and straight forward. There were no surprises about grading. Lectures were good.
Pretty average prof overall. The lectures were a bore, but what was good was aside from a few pop quizes, there weren't that many surprises. If you get a bad group for the term project though, get ready to work
Best instructor for BUSN 1210.
he's a great instructor that I would take again since he's very approachable, will spend lots of extra time with you and helps you succeed. His lectures are very close to the textbook but he often includes real world examples which helps with understanding concepts.
Class was very easy and manageable. Group project was worth a lot of the mark though and groups were picked by the teacher. Got the highest marks on every test but still did not get an A due to the group project being worth so much and the group that was chosen being very bad.
Ralph is an awesome guy. This class had A LOT of writing but the information really sticks and he makes the content so interesting. You go into class not feeling like it's a lecture but more so just a bunch of people socializing about different companies. Second class with him and I'd totally take him again. Helpful prof who's not super hard.
Ralph has good office hours is a hard marker using the number 8 instead of writing it will cost marks You will need to apply analysis tools in a particular manner that won't always be clear from reading the text or attending the lecture. If you don't have time for office hours you will lose marks Will hurt your GPA Don't recommend if your ESL.
Ralph is a Great Prof. He clearly knows what he is talking about and he makes his lectures interesting. Be aware of the massive term project! He divides you into random groups and then rearranges them so theres at least one domestic student in each group. Other than that great prof!
Awesome class and awesome instructor. Quizzes are helpful to prepare for midterm and final. There was a lot of work in this class. Ralph really understand the concepts and makes the class interesting. A solid choice for this class!!
Beware, very tough marker. The individual assignment he expects a level of writing and research at a masters level.
He doesn't care about your schedule. Crazy assignment load. He is a very strict marker. I don't recommend this class unless you are only taking this course.
Tough marker, but also doesn't give you good feedback or direction. You are supposed figure out things that aren't in the text book and he won't let you take pics of the class slides that have examples on them.
Ralph is a very knowledgeble guy who adds lots of interesting facts to the course, he can be quite picky with marking so best to see him if you don't understand what he is looking for. I learned a lot from him, and agree with the others on here that the workload in this course is madness.
I agree with the last reviewer since the work in this class is really heavy. It's best to take this class when you are not taking a heavy course load. I think that Ralph is a great instructor and the class is just heavy because of what it is and not because of Ralph's teaching. Ralph is really friendly and a straight forward marker. He's good.
Very challenging class but ralph is a good choice for it. he's a good instructor who gives many assignments and lots of practice - you will need it in this class.
His lecture is logical and easy to catch his point. He likes to do the in-class practice, which is really helpful.
Awesome prof to take for operations. He knows his stuff and has many many many examples to help understand concepts. He uses two tests, four homework assignments, one paper, one presentation. Also, you have to present concepts each week to the class.
crazy high expectations of students though I learned a lot prepare to be busy every week crazy amount of work ralph is a kind guy who I found to be helpful
Super nice guy who can be strict but is always nice. He is in his office a lot so available for help. Great choice for this class. And he's sometimes funny. Recommend - I had a great experience
Awesome guy!!!! Takes you through concepts slowly and gives tons of help!!!
Quizzes are full of crap. For the short answer questions, he gives a few options; however, those questions test your knowledge on the most trivial of concepts... Like really? They're worth the most marks, so why are you testing me on this stuff?? Also, sometimes, you find out too late that he has his trivial facts in the multiple choice wrong.
I think Ralph is awesome. Even though the course is kinda heavy with a lot of materials and quizzes, I find it interesting rather than boring. The only problem is that he doesn't upload the slides on blackboard, you'll have to take pictures of the slides in class then find a tall guy sitting in the front row in every one of them haha
It is known that Ralph doesn't give a free ride, but if you care about learning things that will make you better in your career then he is the best choice for supply chain management. Everything he teaches he relates to supply chain work. Instructions are clear. BEWARE, he assigns a lot of work every week and you can fall behind quickly
Simply do not take him. I think the course he teaches in a way is useless.
His style is very clear and he is very approachable. I find him to be very warm and nice and his speaking style is slow and understandable.
Should read book. Easy to understand his lectures
A blessing, very understanding and has the best interest of the student in mind
Such a great person and instructor. Caring, passionate, knowledgeable, fun. If you are in pdd-supply chain you will want to take him. He even gives job advises and helps you look for positions.
Ralph is a great teacher. His lectures are fun. His homework assignments prep you for the exams. His project can be a little challenging so you will have to work hard on them. Unfortunately, he chooses the groups for everyone so it can get stressful. There is also no peer evaluation which could be very tough for some students.
Listen to what he has to say, he clues in greatly on what will be on the test / quizzes. The quizzes pretty much re-appear on the tests, and he'll give you a chance to take review it once more, so make sure to do that. Do that, and you'll be fine.
The class is challenging but Ralf's explanations are very good. He is patient and helpful. If you dont know excell, take a few youtube video classes because you will use it a lot in class.
He is a terrible prof. His lectures are virtually useless as he skims topics but expects a significant more in depth knowledge on his exams. He creates his own exam question for the case, asks to analyze specific aspects. None of which we will actually practice just talk about it in groups. i hope he reads this and adjusts his teaching
he is really good
A very good prof! hard class, but he makes it understandable
Really interesting class. Ralph is a good instructor!
PLEASE DO NOT READ THE OTHER RATINGS. He rates himself on this website. Extremely tough grader, no clear grading criteria, wrong solutions posted, and wants people to come to him in office hours (?). Complacent because no one else teaches his course. PLEASE DO NOT READ OTHER REVIEWS. I had a GPA of 4.0+ BEFORE taking his course. Do not take him!
Don't take him. I don't know who gave all these other reviews. Probably himself. No one in the class would give him 2 stars, let alone 5. Don't trust these ratings. Avoid him at all costs. Half the class failed and I am great at math since I am a CSIS student. 0/5. Avoid at all costs.
Good luck passing his class. Idk what he thinks of himself but he needs a reality check that no one uses pen and paper to calculate cube roots anymore. Does not allow Excel in exams and absolutely hates people who ask doubts. I don't know who gave these 5 star ratings to him. Avoid at all costs. I wish someone else taught this course. ZERO outta 5!
Amazing class to drop your GPA down a hill. If Ralph is so funny, he should do comedy in a circus, not at school. Avoid at all costs. What a terrible experience. Used to have my class on Fridays. Weekend spoiler.
I don't know who allowed him to teach at this college. Absolutely terrible joke of a person. Keeps talking about his experience at Coca cola and nothing else. I hope someone reports him for being an unusually tough-grader. I have worked for 15 years at a Bank and I know more math than him. Please don't take him. My friends won't.
All the other reviews which say that he is awesome, funny, or a good professor are fake, and written by himself. No one liked him in both the sections that he taught and one has to be delusional to believe that he is respectful to students. Please take someone else. If you don't have a choice, you'll see for yourself that the bad reviews were true.
Very tough grading. Hardly managed to pass this course.
Great professor but horrible class. Way too much work for a third year course.
Save your money and your GPA.
I am taking this professor this semester. Awful experience so far. I don't know about other students, but I already regret taking him. Skip his class and save your money.
I am one of the few unfortunate students repeating his course . He failed me by 2 marks. No transparency in marks shown at all. Just tells students their marks, and does not give back the answer sheets. I wish I could take someone else...please avoid. Great source of Vitamin-D..(epression)
Honestly all these other reviews are relatable. He isn't that bad of a human, just doesn't know or does not want to teach. Might be a helpful person, but does not show enough intent to help. Maybe he's just tired of teaching. Not the worst experience at Douglas. He does not deserve hate, but I hope he's reported for no transparency and difficulty.
I had a midterm yesterday and I must say I regret taking his class. Please avoid.
Gives himself good reviews on this website and flags bad ones. RMP team should stop removing reviews. People reported him to the dean last semester. Truth cannot be hidden. Zero out of five for this professor. Do not take.
Dumb bald guy who worked at Coke. I think he snorted some coke there too. That's how he teaches. All good reviews are fake and written by himself.
Ignore the good reviews. Click on the bad ones. They're the truth. Good reviews are written by himself and calls himself 'Ralf' so no one notices. Do not believe any good review. GPA dropping class. Take him if you don't believe what's written here.
His wife left him because of how cruel he is with students. Karma. Zero out of ten. Probably talks about his experience at Coca cola in bed.
Ignore the reviews full of hate. I would never take him again because he doesn't know how to teach or what to teach. But he's not a bad person. Probably should just go back to working at Coca Cola. But he doesn't deserve hate even if he wrote fake good reviews on this website for himself.
He thinks if he removes all good reviews, word of mouth is going to be eliminated too. The truth is, he should be avoided at all costs and suspended as a professor for his behavior. The RMP team can continue removing true reviews.
I am a CSIS student and I took this professor last sem. He did not allow Excel or cheat sheet in exams. He used to allow excel in class. but the exams were long and handwritten. He used to expect students to calculate cube-roots by hand and hand-in paper assignments. very tough grader. no transparency. Not recommended. Waste of money.
Don't take. Save Money. Save GPA. Ancient professor with equally ancient knowledge.
Initially, I hesitated to join Ralph's course due to negative reviews. But after two weeks, I realized the professor wasn't at fault. The course stands out as it emphasizes numerical concepts requiring practice. If you complete your work diligently, you'll succeed easily. Blaming the professor is easy, but last-minute studying won't suffice.
This is a hard course, do the reading and attend Ralph's office hours prepared to ask him questions about the problems you don't understand. This professor does not accommodate unprofessional students. Please show up on time and be prepared. This is a third year course, you will be fine if you put the effort in.
be ready to make notes , no use of mobile phones while lecture going on . tough grader in exams .
Ralph is very knowledgeable, and you will learn a lot! He's giving quizzes to help you study for the Midterms, and 2 assignments. He will answer all the questions and offer additional materials and office hours if needed. This was one of the best courses I took and I highly recommend him, he's an amazing teacher!
avoid him
An amazing instructor who genuinely cares that you succeed. I went to office hours almost every week and he was very helpful. The weekly assignments are easy.
This is a doable class if you prepare to work on the weekly because he gives in class assignments and homework assignments every week. Assignments are doable and he offers lots of help when you get wrong answers. Tests are based on assignments so stick to this plan and you'll win. I like his style a lot and can't say anything but good about him
Ralph's way of teaching was perfect, I wish more teachers used it. He did not expect us to memorize whole course. Tests are open book and you bring in your notes and weekly assignments. If you do the weekly work then you are ready for the tests and quiz's too. One of the best prof I have at Douglas College
One of the kindest profs at douglas that I have had. I attended office hours almost every week and he helped with course material but also with applying for jobs in demand management. Thank you Ralph God bless
Ralph is such a wonderful guy - I adore him as a faculty member. He rocks.
He has experience and he is teaching with it. Very thorough and detailed guy who shares a lot of content. So he makes the class interesting and especially for those who want to go into HR. He is one of the best profs in the college.
good. iiiiiii
Instructor Ferens is a good choice for any HR course. I've taken two HR classes with him so far and have found the same in both. If you try hard and who effort, he will support you and make sure that you get what you want out of the course. He is strict and those who play around are caught. Pick your instructor, easy grade or good training.
Ralph is by far the best instructor I have had at Douglas College. He takes his job very seriously and provided so much information that I feel ready and excited for a career in human resource management. I wish that more instructors at this college cared as much as Ralph does. Get ready to buy books and to show up for class and to do homework
Professor can be tough, but worth the effort. Attend office hours, complete assignments diligently, and you'll succeed. I found unstuck AI helpful for practice problems.
Ralph is the worst professor I have ever had at Douglas College. The way he teaches in the class room is very egotistic. Also in the class, If you need to get up to use the washroom he calls you out in front of the entire class You need to explain why you need to use the restroom; it is extremely degrading.
5 quizzes, midterm, final, paper, presentation, and weekly summaries. Ralph is a highly structured, organized, professional, and by the book teacher. He won't bend rules so not a good choice for anyone who comes in late or misses class regularly. I enjoyed his thorough lectures and found him to be kind and really fair
The best prof at Douglas !!! Cares, works hard and set you up for HR career !!! Keep up the good work Ralph !!!
Extremely strict and unapproachable. Doesn't allow students to leave for the restroom, and often comes across as rude. Sends lengthy emails if you miss class, even for valid reasons. Overall, a very stressful experience, and I would avoid it if possible.
Great class and great prof! Ralph is the first prof that I had a this college that was available every week to go over material with me. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. There were quizzes, tests, paper and presentation in the course. And yes he is strict about not leaving classroom during the lecture but he does give breaks
Ralph is a tough grader and very strict about attendance, phone use, and break policies—no compromises there. But he's highly structured with weekly quizzes and assignments. His tests are long with lots of MCQs and T/F, so be ready to read the textbook closely to do well on his exams. U don't need to buy the textbook later version are okay too.
This is my first time writing a post on RMP and i hope its my last. i like school but this class made my soul die. There are some things that i have learned and value but the material is largly history based or common knowledge. i thought i was getting a good instructor and he might very well be but my advise? Buckle up
Had Ralph for 3350, 3351 and I feel that he was far and beyond the best teacher I ever had. His lectures are clear, his marking is fair, he is kind, he is super skilled in HR. I found him to be incredibly available to help me, and he even helped me get a job interview. He expects students to act like adults and some dislike that...it's college all
Ralph is very nice, but very by-the-book. You need to keep on top of your readings and attend class. That being said, he is absolutely willing to support you with anything. He's very approachable. One unusual thing about him is that he doesn't allow students to leave during the lecture, I've gotten used to it, but that may not be feasible for some.
Ralph is the best prof that I had this semester and I wish that more taught like him. Lessons are organized and you know what you will learn every day and what is taught is on the test. His structure really worked for me. Tests were not hard, practice quiz prepare you for the tests, report takes a lot of time but you work on it all semester long.
Do not take this class. I took this class because I thought the reviews were genuine, they are not!!!! He is not a good teacher and just a glorified babysitter. He does not post anything on blackboards and we have no access to anything to study from. Trust me, do not take this class.
really good teacher. would take again. lectures are engaging and he explains things and gives lots of opportunity to discuss with your class mates. lots of memorization. had more office hours access to him than any other teacher at douglas
Professor Ralph runs a straightforward course with lectures that are useful for note-taking. Exams are manageable if you take good notes. It's also a good idea to start the group project after the third week to make the workload easier.
