Pretty easy as far as a science professor goes. Very willing to help, but can be pretty vague. Teaches with a computer with the lights dimmed, extremely challenging to remain conscious. Just read the book and you'll do fine. Tests are all multiple choice.

great professor, does everything within his power to get you to learn the material and is willing to help any time you need it. his tests arent all that bad if you make sure you know the material and go to the chatrooms he holds the night before, alot of times he tells you specific q's from the test

I hate Chemistry, but this man helped me through it all the way. He is very clear about what is on the test if you ask. If you have questions about some go to his office and he is more than welcome to help you. Has study groups on fridays if you ask for them.

He's soo nice!! and so helpful! he understands the stress of the college student unlike most teachers. He remembers the rough times and is willing to bend over backwards for you. The class itself isn't hard and his tests are kinda hard to read. ask for help and he'll help you!

Teaches with Powerpoint, so that can very much make you bored very quickly. Also has a lax attendance policy, so you'll need to force yourself to attend. Overall a good course.

Had him in the summer and during the semester and it was much easier in the summer. If you get the choice, take a course from him in the summer.

PowerPoint made the class a lot more organized. It was easy to follow. Layland was very helpful and avialable for questions. I would definitely recommend him if you have to take this class.

So far, Dr. Layland is my favorite proffessor! He gives you the notes to print out, is always reminding the class to come to his office for help. If you don't understand something he stays until you get it! He makes Chemistry interesting & he's cute, so i deafantly recommend him!

Mr. Layland was a great teacher. He really cares about his students and really wants to make sure that they understand the material. I bought the book and returned it at the end of the semeseter, with the seal not broken. He needs no textbook to go by! Also, he tries his best to schedule tests away from the Anatomy tests to help out.

Great Professor, I really enjoyed his class. He is very interactive with his students and wants them to succeed. He doesn't offer make-up tests so be sure to attend. He gives great notes. Very funny, wish I had him again. If you have a chance be sure to take him ( the seats for his classes go like hotcakes!!)

Just a tip: he makes things look easy in class, but it's harder on the test, so go see him for review before the test.

So nice and helpful! I've never had a science professor who could explain complex concepts in such an understandable way. Layland will do everything he can to help you. He not only cares about his students, but is a truly gifted teacher. Just memorize his slides and you will be golden for the semester.

Is extremely helpful in and outside of class. Went over each exam with me multiple times. As long as your willing to go to his office during office hours he will help you anyway he can.

I took Layand's chem 105 online. Online all you have are the notes and you teach yourself. however, his notes were so clear that it was easy to teach yourself. I went in when I had questions and what would have taken me hours to understand he explained in mins. Our class was aloud to take test/quiz online AKA notes out but now you take in lab now

Great professor. See him outside of class bc he really wants to help you get a good grade. See him after EVERY quiz and test. The things that are on the quizzes WILL be on the test so don't be afraid to ask questions.

Dr. Layland is an amazing teacher, but what he lectures about is difficult material. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you miss you will be completely lost. Go to his office after each test to see how you did; he likes to see students caring about their grades. He'll help you as much as he can, but it's your job to make the grade you need.

Literally the best chemistry professor. I had him for both 105 and 106. He is willing to help at all times. Responds to email very quick. He explains very well throughout class. The only grades you have in his class are quizzes, tests, and the lab grade at the end. He is the best!!!

He is awesome, if you are a PreNursing major do everything you can to get him. He will help you with any questions you have and is as kind to each individual as he is the whole class. Go to every class, he writes things on the board that aren't on his slides, sometimes. Never understood why some people would skip his class.

Layland is a straight-forward professor, and will tell you in his course that there is NO EXTRA CREDIT AND ONCE POINTS ARE GONE THERE IS NO GETTING THEM BACK. He only has 3 exams and 6 quizzes so don't try and not take it serious from the beginning of the semester. And if you have questions, GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS.

Dr. Layland makes his lectures super engaging and is constantly joking around in class. He doesn't take attendance but if you skip class you will miss tons of notes and example problems. He tells you exactly what is on his tests and quizzes and gives an equation sheet for every test and quiz.

Layland is always willing to help, keeps class light hearted, and covers info very clearly. tests and quizzes are easy to study for because hes clear about whats on them and gives textbook practice problems. if you miss class then you definitely need to see him outside of class.

great teacher! helps as much as he can before the exams. we have a quiz after every chapter but they are easy overall. the exam are 25 questions multiple choice and very very straight forward. i 100% recommend him.

He is a GREAT teacher. He's not strict. Just come to class and pay attention. He does go by fast sometimes, but if you're confused just raise your hand before he goes on. He doesn't have a problem answering questions. He's very helpful. I HIGHLY recommend you take him. ESPECIALLY the nursing majors.

It is a hard class no matter what professor you have. Layland does an amazing job of preparing you for each test and making you actually learn the material. I think Dr. Layland is a wonderful & caring teacher. He does lectures in person but if you miss anything, they are also online. His quizzes are on Lockdown browser with webcam but are fairly easy. Do not be afraid to ask him questions, he's very helpful. Tests aren't too hard as long as you study the material well enough.

An absolute amazing professor who genuinely cares about his students. Chem is known to be a fairly rigorous subject but he does his best to break it down and use analogies that are quite helpful. I have honestly barely had to study; just pay attention in class and you will be fine. I would 100% recommend his course!
