The hottest teacher ever! Would go to class just to look at him! Very fun! He actually makes history interesting! I wish he taught all of my classes!
An excellent teacher. Morris keeps his personal politics out of the classroom, respects the viewpoints of everyone there, and does a phenomenal job of making sure that everyone gets their say. Very helpful, keeps busywork to a minimum, keeps the cirriculum interesting.
Tests are pretty easy...essay questions are given ahead in advance. Notes and disscusions are helpful and extremely important for tests. A great professors. Cares about his students and willing to help.
His microphone and accents are funny. His lectures are not boring nor are they tough to understand. He encourages questions, no matter how ignorant they may be.
took all of his class's he is the BEST TEACHER.DO NOT take ANY OTHER TEACHER for your history! he is really the BEST, and totally GREAT.although he use to be a lot hotter!
Morris is a GREAT HISTORY PROFESSOR! Smart and enthusiastic lectures, dresses up as historical characters - very funny! LOVED HIS CLASSES! Highest recommendation!!
Great teacher! The microphone bothered me at first but in time became very helpful, everything he said was clear and made sense. All you need to do is study the handouts and its all good. I got an A!
Sure he's entertaining, but teaches down to students, possibly commensurate with their intelligence - or as dictated by Ben Duran.. I've had harder ap classes in high school. Ho Hum..this school is boring!!!
This is a very self proclamating person. He is more interested in letting the class know what his views are instead of actually teaching the class. He does not relate his tests to anything that he has taught, in fact uses items that he breifly shows on the overhead projector. Very Rude and inconsiderate. Not in it for the student, only himself.

This professor was a total goof.He would take off his shoes and use a fanny pack that carried his microphone. He's quite full of himself but if you flatter him that you can get all the help you need.I got an A in the class. Not too difficult just boring.
could not follow was not interesting made me fall asleep
He is one of the worst instractors in my life.I heard his Political Science is better, but don't take his history classes. Stupid and selfish.
by far on of the greatest instructors at merced college if not in the entire world. the other comments about him make no sense. he gives an objective view of history and lets the students make their own judgement. could not ask for a more helpful and genuine instructor!
I love this guy! I love going to his classes, he makes them so fun! yeah he carries his little mic. which i thik is hillarious! Polisci majors, take his class! hardly any homework, i believe i've only had like three hw ass. gotta read, but its all in the lectures, which is why you must attend every class. love this class, always makes my day
This PoSc instsructor is the only one at MC worth taking. The only professional that is. The other guy is ridicuous curses and swears he's the best teacher of the century,"NOT." Don't be fooled Morris is the instructor to take. He's an intellectual like no other in POSC. The other is a weirdo and a coke guzzling joke. Mr. Morris is the best choice.
hes probally my favorite prof, hes an awsome teacher,i wasnt looking forward to this class till after the first day, i loved this class, hardly any homework, if you attened class and take the notes you can easily get an A, he lectures all through class but its never boring, i learned to much in his class. Hes very good at his job- highly recommend
This class was very boring, but a lot of people love his lectures. I just couldn't get into it and felt he just dragged on and on. The only thing I really hated was that on the tests he puts as test questions "Morris feels" or "Morris thinks" and it's ridiculous because why would we remember what he thinks or who even cares?
Hardworking, used ev min of class hour. Difficult to comprehend at times.. I spend more time doing his essay homework (make me sick) compared with my Eng 1A. Easy exams if u listen, take notes and read the book. be sure to know what 'Morris Thinks', it might be on the test tho he respects everyone's viewpoint. If ur hardworking student, take him!
MORRIS IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER. FUNNY,SMART AND ENTHUSIASTIC.MAKES HISTORY AND POLITICS REALLY INTERSTING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Really fun teacher! Loves his subject and has a sense of humor. Likes to play devils advocate to get the class talking. I think he is one of the best instructors Merced College has.
Prof. Morris is an excellent teacher. very energetic, knows his stuff, you will not fall asleep in his class. uses layman's term to explain situations to relate the idea.
I learned so much bout politics and elections.must read book and go to lecture, Morris is my favorite professor!
Excellent Professor!
Great lectures, films and discussion. He is very open minded to different opinions.Respects student opinions. I really liked this course.
I dont believe he is found to be HARD, but you will be required to participate in class. This should be easy for everyone since we are all in college. If you are shy then this class will be hard for you. I love his ability to play devils advocate. He doesnt want his views thrown on students, but for the students to think for themselves.
Amazing. Such a great teacher. Took Morris for history and government and wish I had him for more classes. Down to earth and passionate. He respects all opinions. He's great take him!
My favorite teacher at Merced College. Mr. Morris really prepared me for Fresno State. Very fair and consistant grader. Very entertaining lectures and funny guy. Loved him!
Mr. Morris really prepared me for Fresno State. Very fair and consistant grader. Very entertaining lectures and funny guy. Loved him!
Best history class ever- Professor Morris is a great instructor and very passionate about America, but tells it like it is! Love him!
Morris is awesome, very outspoken, if you take great notes you will get an easy A. Well worth anyone's time!!!!
Gosh, what a great professor! I can't forget him all my life. I was a person totally blind with American history, but he made it so easy and interesting. The class is fairly easy for those who have a bit background of history. Long live Mr. Morris!!!
Gosh, what a great professor! I can't forget him all my life. I was a person totally blind with American history, but he made it so easy and interesting. The class is fairly easy for those who have a bit background of history. Long live Mr. Morris!!!
Professor Morris is one of my favorites. He lectures mostly and encourages you to think for yourself. Looking back now and with all the stuff going on the world, this was a great class!
Morris is tough and demanding, but very fair and helpful if you ask. He passes out study guides before exams and not much homework. I'm not a history person, but he made it very exciting. He's really smart and knowledgable and tells lots of great stories.Morris is a model of what a college professor should be like. Cool guy.
He is very cool his lectures are great he talks with a headset microphone so it is easy to hear him. Test are multiple choice with an essay section. He essay questions are easy if you come to class and take notes. The questions from the test come from the book and his lectures. If you come to class you will get a good grade.
I took Mr. Morris' night class (Hist 17a) that met once a week; not sure if this made the class more difficult and worse than his day classes are but i did not enjoy it, at all. He keeps you until 940 or close to it every class (even after tests) and it gets very boring after about 30 minutes. I wouldn't recommend his night classes.
You get to use a notecard for each test which is helpful. Plus it a, b, and c multiple choice which makes it easier too. Just take notes and read. I thought it was boring but I just don't find history in general to be that interesting! He was easy to understand but not the nicest if you needed help as far as my personal opinion goes.
Pretty cool guy, but he can be a bit boring. He does allow notecards which is really cool. Expect no mercy if you miss a class, or are a habitual class ditcher. Overall, he's not too bad.
one of the best professors at merced college. I took hist 17a and political science from him..the political science was the best of the two but he is interesting and as long as you do the homework and pay attention to lecture you will do well. I wanted to do posc 1 again because it was that good!
He's ok. Speaks in a monotone. Very passionate about political science, and he really knows his stuff. Does awesome impersonations of presidents-so funny! He's strict about attendance, tardiness and no cell phones. Quizzes are easy, lectures from textbook, so if you read, you will get an A. Exams are multi and essay.
easy course, attendance is a must for a good grade. also, take good notes for tests.
He's alright. Really knows what hes talking about but its pretty boring. Listen to lecture and take notes for exams cause that will help a lot. His exam questions are sometimes confusing and trick ones so be sure to read the text too. Overall it wasn't bad, i've had waaaaay worse.
I've always thought history was ok, but I loved it with Mr. Morris his passion was contagious. I was talking about that class all the time! He really knows his stuff! Pay attention, take notes, and read chapters. He uses his lecture & text from the book for tests which you get one notecard for! I totally recommend him!
Do not take him if you only meet once a week. He does not go by book most of the time. He goes by notes you take, and if you take bad notes. You are out of luck and will do badly. He's not a bad teacher. His way of teaching is not for me.
Mr. Morris is a great professor. Passionate, engaging, and he really loves his work. He allows for an index card during exams, and his lectures are fun. He made me really question my own political beliefs, which is pretty impressive since I am fairly stubborn.
Mr. Morris is an awesome teacher! Interesting and fun lectures. Gives study guides and essays to the class before the tests. Really knowledgeable on the subject. I would gladly take his class again.
Mr. Morris was one of my favorite professors...but he hates cell phones and you gotta attend class & take good notes. Smart, but funny guy.
Morris is really great at teaching and making everything easy to understand. At first, he came off as very strict and I was worried this class was going to be hard. Turned out it was pretty simple, I didn't even need to read the book at all. He's surprisingly funny & always related what we learned to actual events occurring in news & politics.
Mr.Morris is an interesting person, but the way he teaches isnt so helpful. He does not show any notes, all he does is talk and talk. Bring a pencil and paper to write down what you think is important because he will not tell you. The tests are super long and always have about two essay questions to amswer. Would not take another class with him.
Probably the worst proffesor ive taken. Extremely rude. Also just talks talks and talks. Lectures are extremely long and he doesnt tell you what to take notes on. So i hope youre a great note taker. Wouldnt NOT recommend him.
One of my favorite professors. Mr. Morris is very enthusiastic and passionate in his lectures. Good guy. Gives you a study guide before each exam and you can bring a note card the day of the exam. Good discussions. He's not hard, but you have to do the work and attend class or he will drop you.
Professor Morris is nice I guess, but this class had 4 exams & 3 or 4 quizzes. Nothing else, so what I'm saying is you need to get an A in every exam to pass the class with an A.... there's no extra credit or room for you to mess up on a test. I would not recommend anyone to take him, if you're taking 2-3 hard classes.
Professor Morris can be a little difficult, but regular attendance and participation as well as reading the material will be an asset in his course. He's very passionate about Political Science, and can get distracted if you ask a good intelligent question. I enjoyed the class, and would probably take it again if the occasion arose.
This class had like 4 exams & 3 or 4 quizzes, you basically have to get an A in every exam to get an A in the class. No extra credit, so you're basically screwed if you get a B or C on an exam. He's cool & all, but I will not recommend him. Every exam has 2 essay questions & 40 MC questions. You're allowed to take a 3X5 card to the exam.
READ THE BOOK. Honestly, all the quizzes are based on the assigned readings and failing those quizzes might not seem that big of deal but it adds up. And it can bring your grade down. His lectures are pretty interesting & you can use an index card for every exam you take. It's also great bc there's no final. But he doesn't let you makeup anything.
He's a great teacher. His lectures are very interesting. He connects politics to current events. This class is not easy, but not hard. If do your homework and study, you will do well. He lets you use a a 3 x 5 card for tests. Make sure you know everything on the study guide. Also, read what he tells you to read. If you do this, you will be fine.
Possibly the worst teacher on Merced campus IF you need help. If you ask for help it won't be offered. Reading is a must. Lectures are long and he talks a lot, but they are somewhat interesting. He has a "I don't care about you" attitude. No make up homework or tests or quizzes. No extra credit. You must pass with A on everything to get an A.
I loved this professor! My favorite of all three of my favorite professors. Yes you have to work for your grade, and you must read the book, but its interesting, especially because its about OUR Country. Because of this class, i almost went into PoliSci Major, until i got polisci with Randall. If you are looking for easy with no work, don't bother.
Professor Morris is a wealth of historical knowledge. I love how he provides the TMZ stories of history to keep his lectures intriguing. His quizzes are tough and very detailed but tests were more straight forward. Gives good study guide and allows a note card for tests. Would certainly take him again if I could.
Amazing professor, pretty funny. Attendance is not mandatory; however you will not pass if you miss class. His tests come from both class lectures and the book. He is easy to follow and if you seek help, he will give you it.
I think everybody said it already pretty much, he is arrogant, he knows he's a tough teacher and seems to take pleasure in that, long lectures, not helpful, knows his subject matter.
Morris a person of very high caliber. An intellectual mind, not easily perturbed by primitive ideology. An underrated teacher who has devoted his life to political knowledge and endeavor. Many students detest Morris, but make no mistake those who do, are extremely lazy and honestly should not pursue a college education.
In his lectures he is very hands down and knows what he is talking about and his lectures were interesting but I will never take him again
Had him for political science and history. Funny, smart. A great guy. Go to his office hours and he will help you. Gives good study guide and extra credit. One of the best at Merced. Go to class.
Love Mr. Morris. I can honestly say I looked forward to his lectures. He was very fair on political issues and presented both sides. Likes lots of discussion. Study guide, some easy quizzes and 4 exams. No problema. He hates cell phones and can't miss too many classes or he will drop you.
Tells great stories about historical people. Tests are hard but gives you a study guide. Need to go to class to do well . At least he won't put you to sleep.
Amazing professor. Really knows what he is talking about. There are only 4 exams and 3 or 4 quizzes throughout the semester which means if you don't do well on one of them, you don't have much to do to make it up. Make sure to read the text book.
Great teacher. I always looked forward to his class. You have to attend his lectures to do well because his tests rely a lot on what is talked about in class. Mr. Morris is also respectful of all differing opinions about politics. I changed majors cause of him and now am at UCSB majoring in political science and may become a lawyer.
Lectures are great, very knowledgeable, funny at times, Great professor.
It really sucks my GPA dropped taking this class because even though outside of my major I really enjoyed it. READ, READ, READ. I wish I read the book more because the tests are pretty tough. Overall, awesome teacher, very funny and great guy all around.
The teachers management of students discussions of controversial issues was distracting from the main objectives in the lesson and made it hard to follow his class lectures. Most of the other students dropped the class before the "withdrawal" date. Mr. Morris gave almost no feedback after giving a low score even when I asked him for input.
If history is not your thing I do not recommend. Expects too much. No homework so grade depends on your tests and random pop quizzes. Study guide is NO help. Not helpful, hard to get ahold of, does not interact with students just talks. But he is a funny guy and laid back, as someone who does not like history? not a good professor.
Was only in the class for the first few weeks. So far he assigned critical thinking essays and expected it to be done by the next meeting. Assumes you know what you are supposed to be reading in the book. Overall grade made up mainly by exams which are not multiple choice and have nothing to do with lectures. Do not take this class with full units.
I was very excited to learn about American Politics until I had Professor Morris! You have to talk during class discussions about your opinion and what not and apparently I was the only one with Conservative views so good luck if you don't think exactly the way he wants you to! Also he tests you on things that are his opinion not actual facts..
Amazing and funny professor. Four exams which are multiple choice with an essay question but gives a study guide and allows a notecard to use which I suggest to write down information to help with the essay questions. Only three homework assignment and the four quizzes are true or false. Read the book and attend all his lectures to pass this class.
Out of all of the classes taken in the past 3 years, this one was the worst and the only one I've ever had to drop. Luckily I dropped early enough to not get a W. Wanted a big essay the second week of class due the next meeting, assuming everyone already had the book and read most of it. Just don't even waste your time with this class if possible.
he don't take the attendance and don't give us the extra credit for attendance. you can ditch the class if you want, but you cannot get the lecture at all. and prof. M don't write the important things in the white board nor lecture slide, and he don't even give us any hand out. Moreover, he gives us very hard essay, which may spend a lot of time.
Worst professor i've ever had. Don't expect any opportunity for extra credit. Or for a professor that somewhat cares. Extremely tough grader, and his questions on his tests are ridiculous. He expects you to remember every word he lectures on which are mostly his opinions.
Worst teacher ever regret taking hinlm, ? Merced college should fire him if they care about student success. I had a study partner all semester and it didnt even help. Horrible teacher I would read book and notes, but he would claim that his opinion is right and not the book. He humiliates and literally mocked the class, please dont mistake I did.
Professor Morris was the best professor I had. He is hilarious and incites discussion that actually has a point and challenges your beliefs. He made political science a subject I loved & I am currently taking him again. Little homework that is straightforward. No MLA/citations. Answer fully and you get credit. Notecards for exams & study guides :)
It's almost as if he wants you to fail. This teacher's study guides are very vague. The homework assignments are a joke. It's ridiculous that he expects you to memorize every detail of his biased lectures. Prepared to be picked on all the time and be given a vague syllabus. No proper tenitave schedule. He posts on Webadvisor, not canvas. He's trash
hardest class Ive ever taken. Please dont take his class, I did everything I could to pass his class but Im positive I failed after taking my final. I cried after my final exam, im sure I didnt pass. He has vague study guides that dont help you at all. About 30% of the study guide was on the tests. I studied for HOURS and still managed to fail
One of the harder classes Ive taken at Merced College, but one that was worth it! Hes very knowledgeable in the subject and makes lectures very interesting. He is a tough grader though and theres not much room to mess up. We have 4 exams, multiple choice and essay questions, 2 papers, and 4 quizzes. Study for the class and youll do great!
People who write bad things about this guy are crazy. Morris is funny as hell and knows his stuff. Yeah, you gotta work, but hey its college. Study guides tell you exactly what he wants. No excuses if you just study a little. Great lectures and good man. Wrote letter of recommendation, helped me get into Davis. Changed my major to political science
Took him twice. Really good lectures. Tells great stories in history. I think people who complain about him are cry babies. This guy is one the coolest best teachers I ever had.
He was one of the better professors I've had Lecture-based and there isn't much work to do only has a couple tests but gives out a clear and useful study guide Very funny and a great storyteller, class doesn't get boring and some point he will make you laugh He has many accents and speaks his mind overall great person and has amazing sense of humor
Great teacher! Made U.S. history come alive. Morris used accents and played historical people. Fantastic and informative lectures. I'll always remember him as one of the best professors I ever had in college. Think there were 3-4 exams and study guide with all the questions in advance.
Looking back, he was probably the best instructor I ever had in college. He inspired me to be interested in politics and law, so I went on to study law and am now a practicing attorney in the Bay Area. Great teacher!
I took this poly sci course in 2007. He had this fanny pack P.A. system to made his voice louder. It was very confronting, but I heard him. Definitely a good class and a good professor. This was an experience that I'm grateful for. Whatever strong or weak notions of civics that remain in my skull to this day, I owe to him definitely.
