This guy should stick to programming. NOT a good math teacher. Hard to follow, EXPECTS you to know everything in previous classes and jumps AHEAD in the later chapters of College Algebra. Has a temper tantrum. Avoid if possible.
Dont take this class. Hard to follow while staring at his big bald growth. Put class to sleep most of the time with his "JAZZ" about proper programming in "INDUSTRY". AVOID ODT. Avoid or die trying.
Worst teacher I have ever experienced. Not helpful, very difficult, and not good at communicating with the students. Don't say I didn't warn you!!
This guy is one of the worst teachers I've ever had in my entire life. Hard tests, boring class lectures, and terrible grading! Save yourself if you can.
Terrible lecturer and professor in general. Should have stuck to industry. Treats students like fellow employees, expecting them to already know everything and getting mad when they don't. Won't let you explain yourself.
One of the worst math professors that I ever had encountered.
expects you to know the material before hand. Hates when students ask questions, hells at the students. Just find someone else to take.
runnnnnn if you can. He is the worst teacher ever.
I agree with all the people that said he is the hardest. . . I was in his class spring 2004 and failed badly even when grades on my test went from F to D to C to C to B and final was unknown.
his lectures are supper boring and on test he marks you off for any little thing
If you have hand selected your math teacher, chances are you picked easy ones, leading you to your own failure. He will prepare you and teach you not to fail in calculus, his test are fair and he's an around nice teacher.
Pre-Calc is tuff so U 1)Attend each class,2)read book,3)do all homework problems,4)address any and all questions at class. Professor 1)explains book,2)gives new insights & challenges to turn robots into mathematicians. Prof. Taylor is a great professor!!!
Great Teacher Great personality Fun class, interesting, but hard. class covered a lot of material but taylor made understanding easy. Fun personality and made you think instead of just pluging in formulas. I highly recommend Mr. Taylor for any su
Mr. Taylor is the best math teacher ever. He has a great personality, is extremely hard working & goes out of his way to help students with their problems. I never liked math but thankx to Mr. Taylor,I love it now. Ride on Mr. Taylor, ure doing an excellent job and WE LOVE YOU!!!
This is a tough class - there is simply no way to coast through it. This is the foundation of calculus. But if you are willing to put forth the effort to learn the material, Mr. Taylor will help you through stumbling blocks. He is both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this subject.
he's very annoying...don't sit in the front row in the class cuz he'll just come right you and bug you...very weird guy, not recommended at all!
do not take him he sucks
he just sucks
He is nice, but honestly not a good teacher at all. It seems like he's just reading from the book. To me, he didn't know how to explain and teach math..!! you would rather study on your own!
He's a nice guy. He picked on me when I was in the front of the class. He is unclear in his explinations. He only goes over a problem once and he does it to fast. He expects you to do all the HW eventhough its not collected. I failed, and I'm really good at math. I do not recomend taking him unless you will de consumed with only math.
he is the worst instructor. never take his class, he is sucks. always confused and act like an idiot.
Not great but a good teacher. Just do the hw and you will get an A easily. The lectures are boring but the test is really easy. They key is do the hw.
If you're looking for an easy A with no work, get another teacher. Answers questions, does not ridicule. Will help outside of class. Loves math. Prepares you well for further math. You don't turn in your homework. Whole grade depends only on the tests. No extra credit.
Taylor was not nearly as bad a person when he made his first impression upon me when I wasn't in his class. Good thing he didn't remember me. The usual line he would say to me during a lecture was "this is not C++" whenever I began to make comments showing how much better than language was. Man... I was such jerk. Haha
kinda weird, tries to get the class involved but ends up talking to himself, makes many mistakes in the lecture, we have to correct him most of the time, he's not really a bad guy just needs to teach better not do the same examples in the book, i can just read them myself.
Lectures are long and tedious often spending too much time on insignificant points with few problem examples. Tests questions are pulled from homework so if you do all the homework you might be ok. He extended his office hours since our class was doing so badly - better use of classtime would have helped more. At least I could understand this guy.
stuck in his box. Not very bright. Poor lecturer
the worst teacher ever. act like idiot, always put his finger on his chin n say em.......and confused. explanation is really bad, worst ever. never ever take his class. u will regret if u took it.he sucks...........
SUCK SUCK SUCK
WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE GUYS???His favourite phrase.Teaching wise he really sucks. You can understand more by reading the textbook. If all teaches were like him there would be no need for school!!!We could be better off reading the textbooks!!!
He is a hard teacher!but i like his style of teaching, especially his famous phrase,"What to We Have Here Guys?" or "Are U a Happy Camper"!! every test questions that on the exam are exactly from the homework.(he doesnt even change the number) his lecture doesnt make alot sense to me! poor lecturer. since it is Math 191, so bear it!!
i think i knew more about algebra by fourth grade than he does now
Acts like a bloody fool in class.Always asking, "Are you a happy camper now???"To be honest,no one can be a happy camper in his class the way he explains stuff.I know he reads the comments on this site.Hey Taylor if you see this please retire!!!
He's tough! I may not pass his class but will not bash him. He’s just trying to prepare us for next level. Why attack? This is college, not high school. Keep in mind that he’s the instructor, and we need to adapt his ways of teaching and do our best. Now, if you can't handle it, then you could always attend schools like Dev** and pay your way out.
I agree he's not a good teacher. Even though he is committed he just doesnt have the skills to make the class fun and understandable. It's soo funny to see when he gets stuck at a problem , he starts talking to himself in an attempt to solve it taking even upto 15 mintues. Unsuccessful, he just goes off to some new topic. Unprepared for class!!
Not that i wanna bash him or anything.Just look at that the number of people who passed his Math191 class. If the majority are ok it means that the problem lies with the student. However, when only a handful are passing and most with marginal grades it just goes to show where the problem lies.Passionate about maths but teaching wise totally hopeless.
Don't ever take his class. You will regret it.I must agree that he has the passion for maths but he just cannot teach. His methods of teaching seems to be a dismal failure to me.From the way he goes through problems in the textbook,I might be better off reading the textbook myself.Makes even the simplest problems seem like nuclear physics.
He is indeed helpful but the way he teaches sucks. In almost all of his classes be it math or computer science,a comparatively great number of students do worst than other classes.Would not recommend anybody to take his class. In my opinion,he is one of the worst teachers around.Thinks he knows the way he teaches sucks but does not care.
Will not answer homework questions in class. So he just keeps teaching eventhough the class may not understand what is going on. Doing this makes people fall hopelessly behind. Visiting him in his office is not helpful. He just answers the same way he does in class without showing you different angles. Will not recommend!!!
ugh...there's not much i could add here to what the others have said because they are right on the dot. i used to like math before this class, now i will never take it again. what's funny, is that when a class is struggling you expect the teacher to slide a bit on the tests not make them increasingly difficult. i think the majority failed the class
Oh Man, Too Bad He Seems to Be The Only Fortran Instructor...His Test Are Incredibly Difficult, And He Doesn't Prepare You For Them, Throwing In Many Surprises. Ugh, He Goes Way Too Fast With The Programing Assignments And Is Very Picky With The Way Your Code Is Presented. The Only Good Thing TO Say Is That He Seems To Be A Pretty Nice Guy...
If your GPA means anything to you: avoid, avoid, avoid.
this guy was absolutely horrible!! i saw the ratings, but still gave him a chance. bad decision. he teaches from the book and does the examples that are presolved, so that's no help. you'd be better off teaching yourself. his tests don't really match the homework assignments. do i suggest you take him? sure, if you wanna take calculus again!!
IF YOU DON'T INTEND ON REPEATING THE COURSE, THEN STAY AWAY FROM RALPH TAYLOR. Most of the students from last semester are joining me for a fresh start with a new teacher. The only exception I COULD make, is take this class only if you know everything about calculus, and just want the credit. Even then beware, HE MARKS OFF FOR ANYTHING!
I hate him so much! He Is the worst teacher I have ever had. its too late for me to get my money back so I am basically stuck here. I too read his reviews and gave him a chance..but I was wrong about him..I hate him..His grading is rediculous!
Plzzzzzzzzz dont take him. Im serious he's the worst teachers i've ever seen dont think im saying it just becaue i was a lazy guy, not at all i wasted a semester my money and i felt fustrated trying to understand him i dont know why el camino still has him teaching
El Camino is seriously lacking in it's CS department if you ask me. Prof. Taylor has no business teaching a class like this. I would never let him teach anything more than CS 1. I felt like he was seriously teaching us material that he himself had just finished learning. You could honestly learn just as much by reading the book.
I needed to take this class to fill my basic math requirement. I'd taken calculus in high school so I figured this would be relatively easy. HAHAHA. he makes it a point to cover everything that is obtuse to the subject. Yes, he seems to live at the school but he isn't very helpful. He also has trouble controlling the class and is unsympathetic.
He is not easy, but he is really good. I failed the first test, but got a B+ on the next! For someone who hopes to go into the real world and pursue and education and career that requires this level of math (engineering, comp science, etc.), he really prepares you. Leave the "easy" mentality in high school and step up to the challenge. I did!
Boring! He explains stuff that isnt important. I took summer it was long and boring. I have gotten an A in every math class and I am a math major, HE STUNK! I was the only person in the class who understood him but its only cus I can understand a monkey if its teaching math.
He's the teacher that nightmares are made of! He's the only teacher I've ever had that says negative comments about the quality of students he "HAS" to teach. Usually 7 students out of 29 will pass the exams, We can't all be that dumb. He's a little man who's so unhappy about his life, he needs to belittle his students to feel better about himself
The WORST teacher I have ever had. Comes to class with no lecture material prepared and then "wings" lecture out of the textbook. His improv lectures are confused and bumbling and are worse than not attending lecture at all. It's a crime against taxpayers and disrespectful of students to have him teaching anything. Doesn't earn his paycheck.
This teacher is the worst. Doesn't Explain, Gives pop quizes and sometimes lies about them and doesn't give them. His grading method is retarded. I have no idea how he became a dean.
I don't usually care where i stand compared to the class, but after i failed my first math test ever in his class i had to know. our 1st test, 17 out of 26ish failed. well, obviiously i didnt feel so bad. i don tlike him at all as a teacher and would not recomend him to anyone.
most horrible teacher ever! thanks to him...my GPA is F***ed up! i hate this teacher so bad! horrible teacher! doesnt teach, doesnt do anything in class except talks about his own life.
Calc. is hard, so be ready to do some work. He's very thorough but I feel I'm well prepared for calc. 2.
Aweful teacher. very stubborn and proud. office hours are a waste of time because if he knows it, he'll lose you and if he doesn't then he'll try to lose you. irritated by questions being asked. average grade of the class is @ a D with the exception of a few who either hired tutors or already know the material. WARNING: DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR..
I read his RMP and asked a friend about him before i signed up for the class. I should have listened to them! Absolutely horrible! I know the material but the tests were so weird i failed 2 before i got the sense to drop the class. Do not take him all he does is do problems on the board all day and goes way over time. You want scream!
took 3 classes with him and all ended up with A's! To be honest, those werent easy A classes, but if you work hard, you would be fine. What you have to do is just all the problems he picks for the ex..
my first math class at el co and i hated it! he seems like a smart guy but his teaching is hard to follow. sometimes goes on tangents. tests were hard and the grade is based mostly on them. doesn't collect/grade the hw, but test questions are taken straight from the hw. 3rd test there were no "a"s or "b"s and only a few "c"s. very hard class!!
bright guy but just a horrible, very inconsistent with grading and picks problems from the book that require previous knowledge from trig and precalc that nobody ever remembers. on some problems he is super picky and others not so much so u never know exactly what he wants. but i u do all of the hw and truly understand it u will dominate his class.
He is Ok, u just need to review the HW before the test, and he never ask to do HW.
Ralph Taylor is the worst math teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Homework is not mandatory, but the test questions are straight off of it. The questions are always very difficult, and they usually involve obscure identities that students must remember. Very boring, generally thinks his class is full of idiots, and taught very poorly.
does not understand that different classes require a different approach bc some ppl learn diff from others. for a fairly low lvl math class ppl shouldnt be dropping like flies his rating says it all if he were truly a good teacher but hard he would have like a high 2 low 3 rating but we all know where he stands this guy should be fired, incompetent
just take my word for it, do not take his class wait a semester if u have to or go to a different cc in order to got ur stuff taken care of people who get A's in his class prob had no social life cause they were studying all the time, or will end up with a nobel prize a class this hard should not be on a standard scale he should curve it
i was reading through all the reviews and i came across some that were really stange saying we love Mr. taylor... I think he wrote those in to boost his ratings, cause after reading the reviews i have to say that even ppl who got A's didnt like him, therefore concluding that that half the good reviews he wrote. check out '03 '04 ratings.
This class was hard. On the plus side, his exams are based on HW questions, so if you do all the HW and truly understand it, you'll do well. Unfortunately, he picks the more difficult HW questions for his exams and if you've forgotten the formulas necessary to solve the problem you're screwed (notes and formula sheets aren't allowed on tests).
I had R. Taylor for Trig. Trig is not that hard but R. Taylor made it very difficult. Does not allow calculators and just expects you to already know and understand trig. If you ask a question, he looks at you as if you are dumb. Do not take his class!

WHY DID U EVEN CLICK ON HIM U SAW HOE BAD THE RATING WAS THAT SHOULD MAKE UR DECISION INSTANTLY. . DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY
All i have to say is that 1 person got a C and everyone else got a DF in his math 190 class and his Spring 191 class wasnt much better, actually looked at his grade sheet this clearly shows that ur not an idiot he just about failed everyone. like seriously 1 C.. what a joke. maybe we should call up guiness to see if he has the worst pass/fail rate.
Please do NOT TAKE him.

This dude's solid haha he helps only if you ask... duh that's why he asks "does anyone have any questions" hahaha

This is the worst teacher i have ever had. Hands down. I am in shock that he still has a job. I had a 4.0 before i took his class and he gave me an F, thus destroying my gpa and chances to get into a good school... professor taylor if you read this please retire... or change professions... you seem like a decent person but you can not teach...
what can i say about this guy...you all have heard those who cant do teach and those who cant teach teach pe well i dont even think he could teach pe you are prob better off not even showing up to class, bc he will just make u understand things less than when u entered class, so if u get stuck with him, just google everyting and showup on test days
Utterly useless as a teacher... hates answering questions... When he does answer a question the response is usually "come on guy this stuff is easy"... uses class time to play with fortran for his own amusement... went to his office hrs no help there... Also all positive comments are posted by ralphy himself...
Hate to repeat the board but he is completely useless. He teaches new material by solving problems on the board in 60 seconds without explanation and 50% of the time he makes an error which confuses you even more. Wonders why his class attendance drops by over 60% in a matter of 3 weeks. Makes no attempt to ensure his students learn the material.
If you have ANY other option, DON'T TAKE R. TAYLOR. He doesn't prepare his lectures before class and gives no thought to his homework assignments or his class structure, spending far too much time discussing his days "in industry." His exams don't reflect the material being covered and his attitude when asked questions is contemptuous and insulting
One of the worst math teachers i have ever been taught by. He is rude when questions are asked and he messes up math problems frequently and tries to play it off as if he was "joking" well guess what? he messed up on my exams by 1 whole letter grade. Prepare to teach yourself and make sure to double check the points he gives you.
All the bad ratings said about him are true. I had no choice but to take him inorder to go on to the next level. He is rude and does mess up a lot and gets upset when students correct him. The only thing decent i can say about him as that since he is so hard you eventually end up learning because he makes you teach yourself. Strict grader!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! You wont learn anything. Gets of topic and you cant understand the way he teaches. If you have a hard time in math. TAKE another teacher.
Dont remember why I chose this professor. Math is hard enough for me already. Not clear or consistent. Doesnt plan ahead for lecture. Hard to understand his examples and methods. Does not give credit for hw even though he assigns 60 plus problems per section. Tests based on hw. Hardly any quizzes to help retain the info. Dont take him!!
He is probably the worst teacher at El Camino College. He gets irritated with students asking questions and is just about as useful as a monkey. You're better off skipping class and teaching yourself and only go to class for the exams...
In every class this professor has about half the students drop. Even though you might think of yourself as a smart student, this class easy for for the elite few who have already taken CS, otherwise avoid it like the plague. Please listen to my warning and the warnings of the rest of the students here. We are here to save you and your grade.
Professor Taylor really knows his stuff. His teaching style takes some getting used to, but once you get passed that, he is very good. I enjoyed his class.
He encourages laziness. He gives no quizzes so you are poorly prepared. he just rambles on during lecture and cannot stay on track. He gets angry at you if you make a mistake or ask a question. He is probably the worst teacher I have ever had. Ruined my major for me. DONOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
WARNING DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! And if you do be prepared to teach yourself. I learned absolutely nothing from this man. He rambles on & on about nothing of importance to math, & his examples on the board are crap hardly explains anything. He assigns hw and you get no credit for it & no knowledge on how to do it either. Worst teacher I've ever had.
He has no clear class plan or outline of what he's teaching. Encourages students to ask questions, but when you do he mocks you and treats you as stupid. Doesn't return tests grades or even grades them. Assignments are not clear, then blames you for making the mistakes. No preparation at all prior to teaching, just wings everything on the go.
How to pass the class: Take another instructor. Not possible? Try very hard to make a note of what he lectures. You must read the text book, otherwise little clarity. PRACTICE HIS SAMPLE CODE! ALL TESTS BASED ON IT! They are a repeat of the sample code practically, but yes, you have to think. Try to understand, but mostly practice -- the only way!
To do some justice for the instructor, by the end of the class, if you've put your effort into it, you will know and be prepared later on. Attend his office meeting or ask him a question in class if you're confused about the programming in general or the assignment at hand. He will probably frustrate the hell out of you, but he will help for sure.
Basically he has an idea of exactly what he wants and how he would code each program and if you do not do it his way it is wrong. Very bad teaching style, but I have to give him credit because he definitely knows what he is doing. He just isn't a good teacher.
I would not recommend anyone to take his class. He does not teach well and he always skips chapters. He gives online hw and yet he does not count it. Many people had to repeat this class. He isn't a good math professor especially if you are not good at math.
Awful teacher. Not organized and does not teach well. Gets upset when you ask him questions regarding the material. He expects you to know everything already. Puts you on blast if you ask a question. If you want to pass math 23 DONT TAKE HIM!! I took math 23 this summer with another professor and received an A. I WARN YOU!! DONT TAKE HIM!!
While Taylor is a very knowledgeable and passionate Professor, I found his teaching method to be quite poor. In short, if you are the kind of student that learns math by examples and classwork, he is not the professor for you! Prepare to figure everything out for yourself, because you will only be taught basic concepts and their proofs.
This guy knows nothing about calculus. His final was based on one chapter. He brought my grade down by a lot off of one final. He needs to retire.
Great teacher, I understood every details given during the lecture periods. I was able to comprehend basic calculus which resulted me on achieving an A. Overall, the best professor.
Professor taught well, I was able to understand details given by the end of the lecture. The professor may have been vague over the course but eventually explained details over time. Overall, I was able to comprehend basic calculus.
By far the best math professor. I was able to understand every details given by the end of the lecture. The professor may have been vague at some point but eventually explain details explicitly for us to do well during the finals. Do not listen to those who negatively critique this professor. If u want to succeed in life, I suggest this professor.
Professor Taylor is a strange character. If you have a system of mastering his practice exams and read the book you'll pass. make sure you pass the first test then it's pretty smooth after that. And don't be afraid to go to his office hours. Some people do that instead of class bc his lectures can be slow and unhelpful at times.
Mr. Taylor is a good teacher. if you pay attention and do the assigned homework then there will be no reason for you to fail his class. highly recommended.
This professor expected you to know the material already. He got bent out of shape when you asked a question, which made you not want to ask for help. Oh and he expects you to do the homework assignments and he gives you no credit for it. He says the homework is for you to learn, he has no time to grade papers. This professor also skips chapters.
What an awful teacher. Gives you homework and expects you do all of it, doesn't collect it either. He gives you no direction, whatsoever so you never know what you are going to be tested on. I started off strong in his class but realized how hard I was working to get an A in the class. If you take him, don't show up and teach yourself!
He can be very helpfull one on on but tryign to ask questions in class is like interrupting study hall.... its awkward at best cause he makes you feel like you should already know this. its calc one if you are using calc 3 tricks we wont understand it... i learned more from the webassign than him. Test answers has to be his way.
Looks like Ben Franklin but doesn't have any mental traits associated with the genius. Don't take him. I am a 4.0 student and this clown will ruin your life.
Ralph Taylor is the worst teacher that I have ever had in my entire life. He is incompetent as a professor and lacks decency, compassion, and character. He loves to hear himself talk and speaks in a condescending manner towards students. His lectures are completely unplanned and confusing. There are no redeeming qualities about this man.
Very good teacher, obviously if you dont study you wont pass. A lot of these commentators are wrong. He's a real good teacher, he explains problems over and over again. He can be strict, but only when necessary. He gives prctice tests, so that you can succeed in the tests. He even has review so that you can really get the idea of what you learn.
Really bad professor. Did not teach anything that wasn't already done in CS2. Gets mad when you can't understand him. Feedback is never given on assignments and won't tell you during office hours. Go-to response is "I'll get it to you soon" but soon never comes. Doesn't review for exams and those exams are completely uncovered by class material.
When you see all the reviews for him you almost feel sorry for him, and then you take his class and realize that he deserves all the bad reviews. Cancels class all the time, takes forever to grade your stuff, and when he does he takes points off of small things for things like "not as efficient as it could be". He has no passion and you'll be bored
Worst teacher ever, do not take his class!
His lectures are streams of mindless talking which rarely helps you as a student, does not explain information well. Just kinda a terrible teacher in every way. Avoid his class if possible.
AVOID! You take his class you will question every decision you ever made in your life!
Professor Taylor is alright. He is just really slow at doing things. You won't get your quizzes or tests back. The entire semester I got one test back, out of 4. I did not receive any of my quizzes back. I still got an A, but it was torture just sitting in there.
Essentially reads the text book to class. Practice problems done in class are the example problems already done for you, step-by-step, in the book. This makes his lectures only worth going to if you think you will get your test back that day (you wont) or you just spend the time teaching yourself from the book. Retests are same as original easyA
Do not take this professor unless you have no other choice. His teaching style is very boring and monotonous, as all he does is read the textbook for his lectures. His tests are unreasonably hard, but he basically copy pastes each test from recent years. He doesn't show up to class a lot and takes months to grade tests. Do not take this professor.
This guy looks like Benjamin Franklin died and came back to life. I honestly couldn't tell you if he was pregnant or not. I don't understand how he is still a teacher as his memory is slightly better than a goldfish. Actually that comparison is not fair to goldfish. He wold look at least 100 times better if he was bald. If he bends over, look away.
REALLY bad. super boring and seems like he doesn't do any work for school when he isn't on campus. 0/10 do not take him.
Missed 5 classes so we were 2 weeks behind. Instead of having 5 exams 3 review days and a final, we had 4 exams no review and a take home final. Terrible class.
Older reviews of him are fairly good, but he has clearly gotten much worse over time. Not much I can say that hasn't already been covered. Most of the class dropped which made sense for his unreasonably hard tests. Do not take his classes unless you have to.
Listen to the reviews about him! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I thought I could pass by studying hard, but nooo, he grades very tough and some of the test questions don't correlate to his notes or the homework. His voice will put you to sleep and he takes 30 mins to answer a single math question with a bunch of confusing mathematical proofs.
Worst choice to make if u really suck at math, still trying to recover from this class
Ralph skipped 4 classes this semester. We would only met 2x a week, which means we fell way behind... and rather than cut the material he jammed it in and put it on the final... worst final ever. The questions are hard and he is very particular on the answers. You lose points fast and easy and the only opportunity for points are his exams.. avoid.
Pros - If you can teach yourself, his quizzes and exams are easy. - He genuinely cares to help. Cons - Ineffective communication skills. IE He may interrupt you before he actually knows what your problem is. - Poor time management. He often loses track of time. - Some minor nitpicks when he grades. - Makes concepts more complicated than necessary.
Nice guy. However, very slow and takes approx 30 minutes to teach you a problem. He makes you buy a book and teaches something way different then what the book shows. I had no choice but to give up on this class.
No homework which is bad for a math class. Makes easy topics hard and hard topics harder. Boring and gives tests harder than the textbook. Would not recommend.
Let me just say that he seems like a nice enough guy. I do not doubt that he is very smart and knows his stuff. The problem is just that he isn't very good at explaining things. If you are looking for a teacher who will go step by step and be clear about what they are doing, this is NOT the teacher for you.
Ralph is definitely a nice guy, but his teaching is definitely the worst. He always sounds annoyed when you ask questions, constantly makes mistakes which he may or may not catch, and always does his own ways instead of off the book he asks you to buy. The only way to keep your grade is by passing his tests which test his methods, not the books.
If you take him you'll most likely have to teach yourself the material. He tends to over explain and go into too much detail of complicated topics before ensuring students first have basic principles down. This often left the class confused.
Mr Taylor is really nice but I wouldn't recommend taking him as a first time instructor. He's in depth and goes over everything the Math book has to offer, sometimes losing track of time. There is no HW credit, so people slack off. Exam study guides are on point with questions on the exam, 1-2 a bit harder. Overall gotta be self sufficient to pass
Would not recommend his class. Does a disservice to math lovers. He's a nice guy but a horrible teacher. Super boring. doesn't know how to explain the subject. You're honestly better off reading the book by yourself. Horrible communicator, Makes mistakes constantly. Sometimes takes one hour to do one question, yet nobody knows what he's doing.
He actually doesn't check his email
Out of all the teachers I've ever had, Ralph Taylor is the worst one by far. I took AP Calculus 1 in high school and even got a 5 on the AP test, but this class somehow managed to be so hard and confusing, even for me. I felt really bad for everyone else in that class, especially since the first exam averaged a 45%.
The worst professor ever, avoid, avoid, and avoid. He should not be teaching anything because he does not know how.
