fun class, smart guy, interestin books
Weisheit is so cool!
Books are tough to read and long. Quizzes easy, but tests hard.
You won't learn a whole lot, but it's easy. I hope you like movies.
he had the best books to read for class. i recommend this class to EVERYONE!
Great class, Fast Food Nation is an awesome read...but that's about it. It's like going to the theatre every class because we watch so many films. Great times
Books are interesting to read.. get to watch lots of good movie clips
good class...learned to love 20/20!
class sucks....but easy....read the books and you will do alright. test are tricky, so know what you read
i like him!...but his tests are tricky. really read b/w the lines! :)
Interesting class, but theres a lot of reading. The prof is a smart and nice guy. The tests of kind of challenging make sure to read the books and use the study guides for the novels. All in all not a bad general ed. class.
this class sucked so much because he makes too much reading and not enough tests on the lecture material. this class is just terrible.
Had him this past semester, all I can say is make sure that you READ the books. there is no way you will pass with more than a D if you don't. he talks a lot, but there is always a great 60 minutes clip to watch, so it takes up the rest of the time.
the tests and weekly quizes are not hard if you do the readings...I need a 36% on the final to keep my A
Excellent teacher. He is seriously one of the smartest people I have ever met. I love this class. It is always interesting and we watch lots of interesting movie clips. There is a lot of reading but it is not difficult. Overall, awesome class and awesome teacher.
This class was HARD because there was a lot of reading and he picks out the littlest things from the books to test on. Tests are hard but class is really very interesting and he has a lot of cool stories. Pretty layed back class and you get some extra credit. Good teacher.
There is a LOT of reading in this class, and his tests can be difficult if you don't remember certain details from the reading. LOTS of films!
I really enjoyed this class. He is a really good guy and explains things very well. You have to make sure you read, and the readings get annoying, but it really isn't that bad. He is one of my favorite professors here.
tests are damn hard, some quizes are rediculous but the class is reall interesting
I really like this class. The tests are somewhat difficult, but overall i'm really glad I took it. I would recommend anyone to take it!
This is the dumbest class ever. the course should not be based on the BORING BOOKS. and more on the lecture. i listen but don't read. He a smart guy and knows what he's talking about.
He is very organized and clear in his teaching! The class is not too hard.
Amazing teacher. Makes it so that you have to go to class and do the work because you have quizzes every week. Very interesting guy, loves to show "short clips" which last abou 30 minutes. Hes a great teacher and really knows how to make students work and understnad what he is teaching...
I suggest this class to anyone! It is a lot of work but you learn a lot of interesting stuff about the world. The movies are always interesting and he always has current information. Read the books and you will do great.
One of the few classes I have taken that I looked forward attending. Very interisting material, tests and quizzes are easy. Just an awesome guy
I thought this class was very interesting but the tests were very hard. Make sure you read the books he assigns b/c he asks very in depth questions. It gets easier towards the end of the year when you know how he runs the class. Go to class ALL the time!
He is a good teacher. He always makes sure that his notes are clear, and he has a personality that keeps you awake.

he is an awesome teacher, he makes the class very interseting with his short clip video's and the lectures are also very interesting, i enjoy going to that class, and sometimes consider CJS as a major, as i am undeclared now! I suggest taking this class, quizes and tests arent to bad if you study it should be easy as can be, also it's very cool the things you learn about the law system and how things are in diff. countries! def. good class
This was hands down one of my favorite courses at ISU. I am a senior now and have taken my fair share of classes, and I can still stand by this statement. He was very informative yet interesting. He picked great books for the class, and I thought his tests were very fair. I actually walked away from the course with a 99%.
This was the hardest class I have taken in college...He does weekly quizzes and the quizzess consist of lecture notes, chapters from a book reading, and online readings...This class was way too much work to only be 100 level course
IM FAILING THIS CLASS!!! DONT DO IT....he sucks and the tests are hard. It is easy to cheat in but dont waste your time. I read for a week straight and failed cuz he only gives ONE study guide for first test to throw everyone off. There are 4 NOVELS you need to read
**** THIS CLASS. ITS SO DIFFICULT. QUIZZES EVERY WEEK AND THEY ARE UNANNOUNCED! tests are impossible..the first test isnt bad becuase he gives you a study guide. but then your on your own and the books are on the worst subjects. listen to the titles:when religion becomes evil, pursing justice, and language police. THIS CLASS SUCKS, DONT TAKE IT.
This class is awesome. The weekly quizzes are super easy and the information is very interesting. Weisheit is very helpful. As long as you do the weekly web assignments youll be fine.
Exams are mostly over books, which isn't a plus, but does a great job teaching the lectures!
lol those "short" video clips he always played that lasted close to 45 minutes always made me smile. This was a very hard class for me..I read all the books and attended all the lectures but had a hard time remembering very small, almost trivial facts from the books we had to read. Interesting class nonetheless, just a lot of work.
This guy sucks. For a 100 level course he acts like ur life should revolve around his class. Weekly quizes and test are hard even if you read. He does show some long movies which eats up time but this class is so not worth it if u can get into something else. Helpful hint he offered extra credit for ppl who showed up day b4 Thanksgiving break.
interesting class, the weekly quizzes are realy easy if you do the readings online and pay attention in class and the exams are just like the study guides!
One of the most interesting teachers I have ever had. I loved the class.
I wasn't interested into this course going into it. All the exams are over the 3 books you have to buy. I hate reading and especially reading about stuff i am not interested in. Attend class because there is one quiz each week. I would tag this class with a lot of work and motivation to read.
read the books.
I loved this class. There's a lot of reading but it's very interesting. He made class fun and the exams were easy. Study guides were provided!! If you have to take this class, take it with him!
Teacher is nice. He tells some really crazy stories that are in the paper. Take notes, read the books, and do the review questions for all the books (they are basically the questions on the test). GO TO CLASS weekly quiz, usually not on mondays but you just never know! Interesting and the books are not bad either.
he sucks...so bad
I thought he was very interesting. He teaches in a very straightforward way, he also presents a fair amount of interesting movies. He teaches from a book he co-wrote...and the reading usually reflects the lecture...I can say I'm glad I took his class.
Good teacher, lot of reading but worth it.
Great teacher very interesting. easy class if you read!
Professor Weisheit is a WONDERFUL teacher. He makes class interesting and encourages students to become knowledgable about the world around them. I'd take another CJS class with him anyday.
If you don't read, you will fail-simple as that. The reading from the books was really boring but lecture/movies is interesting. The weekly quizzes reflect lecture/book material even though sometimes he is nitpicky. He is a nice guy and willing to help you understand the class. I got a B, but I worked HARD to get it.
This class is pretty easy so far, I've been awful lazy and I'm managing a high C I believe. Guy cares about the subject and tries to get you to care as well. The reading is fairly interesting, just try not to miss those weekly quizzes, not a very good idea.
to many quizzes i think we had 11. overall interesting class i guess not much to say he shows alot of videos
One of the best teachers that I have had in my 4 years at ISU! He makes class very interesting. You do need to read and take some notes in class but as long as you fill in his study guides you will be fine. I suggest filling out the study guides as you read because it is too hard to remember the information later if you procrastinate.
Had him for Alcohol Drugs and Crime, and the man really knows his drugs. The lectures are interesting but the tests are based mostly off the books. I think we had to read 3 books and you really had to have studied them to do well. I ended up getting a B but probably would have gotten an A if I'd done the extra credit, always do extra credit!
Most fun I ever had in a core class. The news stories he reads at the start are the best part. Very easy to get a good grade if you read the material and go to class.
the only thing that dropped my grade were the weekly quizzes he gives. other than that, just read the material you are given and go to class and you'll be just fine.
good class. Go to class because his weekly quizes will kill you. Tests are also quite difficult without reading.
He is very knowledgeable on his subjects and presents things in an interesting way. The text he chose was really good and he told us what to expect on tests. Class is pretty mandatory because of the quizzes...they are easy points though. Overall excellent teacher.
I loved this class. It was very interesting and I actually learned alot. He's a great teacher and I would highly recomend him.
The class is kind of hard and reading the books is a must, tests are basically all reading and no lecture really. Lecture however is really interesting and he does a great job presenting.
He knows so much about law and criminal justice. He always has interesting articles at the beginning of class. There are weekly quizzes over the reading and lecture. But they're super easy. The tests are really only over the books, so just make sure you read those. Over all though it is a super interesting class and I advise taking it with him!
He really knows what he's talking about and I actually enjoy going to lecture. For his tests and quizzes he posts a study guide online and if you can skim the books and look for the answers, you'll have an easy B. So far this is my favorite class. I suggest taking it over a politics class
He is a great teacher, he really knows what he's talking about. He always has fun news artilcles at the begining of class. But you do need to go to lecture. he gives a quiz once a week. but they are so easy. you dont have to pay attention to do well on them theyre commom sense =] His class is great I suggest you take it w/ him!
awesome teacher, he really knows what he is talking about.i actually enjoyed going to class and i didn't miss once, its really interesting and the quizzes are easy As without studying
He is pretty awesome. He gives a quiz every week so you need to to go class. But reading the book isn't necessary. Just make sure you do the study guide. the questions are exactly like the test. take him.
I took the T/Th class and lecture did get rather long and boring. He shows interesting movies a lot which is a plus. Weekly quizzes. He tries to make jokes and you'll hear many times that "Texas is a whole "nother" country"
4 tests on 3 books. First test I read the whole book and got a 66. Second test I skimmed and did the guide and got a 76. Third I just read the guide and looked up the answers and got an 86. Last test I did nothing, 90. Class was fun, books really aren't necessary as you can see. The study guides make the tests super easy. You learn some fun stuff.
i love ralph! he's probably one of the greatest guys you will ever meet.
I took his alcohol drugs and crime class. The material was very interesting but he was very boring. Class seemed like it lasted for days. You have a lot of reading to do and the lectures do not overlap the readings. The second book is 240 pages long and could be summed up in 30 pages. He has even stated, many semesters no one gets an A. good
Weisheit is legit. Absolutely take him. I was in a 2 day a week class and he usually showed 1 movie/clip at least 1 out of the 2 days. He doesn't make you feel dumb yet breaks the info down for you so you really understand what hes talking about without concentrating a ton & do the study guides. REALLY interesting info- and hes funny! TAKE RALPH!
eaaaaaasy A! he's a little dull, but read the books, know the study guides, go to class thursdays for the "surprise quizzes" every week, and nap during the short movie clips he shows that last the whole class. make sure to glance at the online readings before quizzes.
If you pay attention you'll learn so much in this class. Ralph is an incredibly smart guy who doesn't talk over students' heads, he keeps lectures clear and interesting and shows good movies.
RALPHIE! Study the notes and study guide and you should be fine.
Ralph is a really funny guy and his class is really interesting. You must keep up with the reading, and a weekly web reading in order to do well on the "surprise" quizzes that are always on Thursdays (except once). I got B's on all my tests and I will still get an A in the class because he drops 2 quizzes.
I thought that the material was extremely difficult. I studied for hours and hours, never got over a C on any of the tests. I went in for help and showed him my notes to all of the tests but it didn't really help. It was a horrible class. I never skipped and always was there, read all the books and still got a D. I Do Not recommend.
Ralph is such a hottie! Take him! It's an easy class and what eye candy...
He really nice and funny. I loved the material, it was really interesting and he made it easy to understand. I loved the clips he played. He always catched you up with current events at the ending of class. Fill out the study guide and the tests should be easy. You have to keep up with the reading and weekly web assignmentsthoughforthe quiz.(ev.T)
I LOVED THIS CLASS. he was a great teacher who always made sure everyone was clear on the topics. He is funny and shows lots of interesting videos.
This is a GREAT CLASS! Weisheit is a great teacher, and he's really interesting to listen to. He's so smart - he brings a lot of thoughtful topics to class. I've brought things I've learned in this class to other classes for paper topics and projects. I recommend this class!
He's a very smart man, he knows what he's talking about. However.. it's kind of difficult because the only tests he gives are over the books we read. But he never discusses the books in class. Make sure you read the weekly online things he posts, they help you with the weekly quizzes. Tests are very difficult.
very hard class, make sure you do all the readings and understand the book more then what the study guide asks. you can know the study guide very well but the test will still be hard.
Very smart and knows what he is talking about due to first hand experience. Make sure to read the books he assigns outside of class because the tests consist of almost only book questions, not the lecture information. I would recommend this class to everyone because it covers many current issues and is a very interesting class overall.
This class is the most boring class i have ever taken in my life...if you do not keep up with the three books that are mandatory to read you are screwed...you have to go to every single class because you have a quiz every week and do not know what day it will be on. There are online readings each week that you have to read. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
I was really excited to take this class. Then I got a D.You learn a lot of interesting things in lecture, but you'll never be tested on it. If you don't like reading books and doing a lot out outside work, Stay away because he NEVER discusses the book. and he wrote one himself so he tests off the study guide.
Class is pretty nice, because you almost always watch movies and clips. Tests are pretty hard, but if you study you can almost always make a decent grade. Come on thursdays for the pop quizzes. Ralph is a good guy.
class is really interesting and you watch a lot of videos but tests are really hard. Read the books and make sure you show up to class on Thursdays for his quizzes. one of the toughest gen eds I have taken so far.
Really easy class. I got an A and all you have to do is read the books he assigns. You dont really even have to read them because he gives you a study guide that is word for word what the book says. Tests were a little hard buy the quizeds were quite easy. Easy class i would take it again.
Too much reading
Good teacher, knows a lot about Criminal Justice. Relates almost everything back to your own, personal life. Shows interesting movies. READ THE BOOKS!!! The first three exams are on just the books. Do the web assignments because they are on the weekly quizzes. Take notes because they are also on the weekly quizzes.
Google "study blue notes" You can find all the answers to the study guides there. Tests are word for word from the study guide. Really easy class but you have to go most of the time because he loves weekly pop quizzes
Every thursday there are quizzes on the required reading and lecture notes. Easy class, but you cannot miss. Offers extra credit and the study guide is the exact test, word for word. I'm not a criminal justice major and I thought the class was easy. For sure take it for an A.
A great guy who knows his stuff. I enjoyed him as a teacher but the topics were not as interesting as I would have liked. He shows a ton of videos. READ the books and study blue will not get you and A on the test. The books also have nothing to do with the lectures. A VERY TIME CONSUMING CLASS but a great proffesor
You must read 4 novels that get more interesting as you go along, but the information over all is interesting. He knows his stuff. Recommend him
The test are nothing but the books that you read and are never brought up in class. Quiz every week, usually on thursday on online readings and inclass notes. Don't take the quizzes lightly because by the end of the semester every point matters. very time consuming class but for the most part easy.
He is an amazing teacher. You have to go to class, read the books, and look at the web assignments. The tests are word for words from the study guides. This is an easy gen ed with one of the best teachers at ISU. Easy A if you go to class and make sure to read the books and fill out the guide. Final is the last book you have to read. not cumulative
HORRIBLE, way too much reading, lectures are so boring, no power points, no study guides for the three books you have to read, basically avoid this teacher at all costs!
If you want to do well in his class, you have to go to class, no exceptions. He is very intelligent and he knows the material very well. He's very easy to talk to one-on-one. I really enjoyed having him as an instructor. If you take CJS-102, take it with him. He is seriously the best professor I've had. But you must read and go to class.
Loved this class. Great teacher and makes the class interesting with personal stories and experiences. Books are necessary and if you don't read then you will fail the class. go to class because quizzes are based on the notes. Couple quizzes worth 10 points each and 4 tests. Amount of effort put in will reflect on your grade.
Ralphie was so boring. Dragged on and on about nothing. Tests had random questions that weren't on the study guides and weekly quizzes were very tough.
One of the hardest classes I have ever taken. The tests are based off of books you read independently, but never discuss them in class. And, there are weekly quizzes over the lecture notes. I do not recommend taking this class at all. I went into office hours and he offered me no advice or help.
This class is awful, he doesn't know how to teach. The whole class is notes, that you don't ever use. The exams are only on the books, but never tells you when we should start reading them. Do not take this professor, I'm warning you!
The tests are only on the books that you read out of class, but he provides you with a study guide that is basically the test. The class can be boring most of the time, but hes honestly a genuinely nice guy and doesn't want to see his students fail! Minimum effort for this class and I got a B
There are 4 exams in class all based on books you read outside of class and never discuss in class. There are also weekly quizzes on the material you cover in class. I went to his office hours for help and he did nothing for me. Don't take the class, extremely hard. He does not know how to teach. Almost ruined my 4.0 gpa.
He is such a cute old man and his class is so easy. It does get boring sometimes but he shows a lot of videos that are very interesting. As long as you go to the lectures and read the books it's impossible to do poorly in his class. This was the easiest gen ed I've ever taken
Dr. Weisheit is one of the more interesting teachers i've had here. He covers quite a bit of material and there is a weekly 2-3 page paper over an ethical issue in the criminal justice field. Overall tho, he is a lenient grader and the tests are fairly easy.
This class is so boring. The lecture notes were pointless because we never used them. The quizzes and exams were based off the four books we had to read. Quizzes are given every week.
He covers a lot of material and there is a weekly 2-3 page paper over an ethical issue in the criminal justice field which is easier than it sounds. His tests are fairly easy, they are the exact study guide just with blanks. Lectures can get dry sometime, but overall I thought he was a good teacher and would recommend him!
Great teacher. Managed to make the lectures interesting. If you read the books, fill out the study guides and go to class it's an easy A.
Great teacher! He made class really interesting, he can also be humorous. There is a lot of reading to be done but for the most part the books are interesting. If you read the books and go to class you'll get an A. Just make sure you go because there is weekly quizzes! The study guides are super helpful too!
Read the books and finish the study guide while reading.
So boring, fell asleep in class. You need to go to class and read the books to do well. quizzes every wednesday or friday. Would advise taking something else.
Dr. Weisheit was one of the best professors I had this semester, he is very passionate about criminal justice and knows exactly what he is talking about. His class can get boring at times, but the notes are easy to understand and the study guides he provides are copy&paste from the test. I really really recommend taking this professor.
An amazing professor! The lectures are just notes and the notes are taken for a quiz you take every week. If you show up to class and look over the notes for the quiz you should be fine. There are 4 tests, and the tests are taken over books read out of class, but the theres a study guide online. Study the answers to the study guide and it is easy.
Ralph is a good guy and is very knowledgeable. There is a a few novels assigned in this class and all of the tests are based on those novels and in-class lectures. Weekly 10 pt quizzes are given. Readpay attention in class and there is no reason you won't get an A. The books and lectures are pretty interesting anyways!
Overall, Weisheit is a decent prof. He has weekly lecture quizzes, so going to lecture is a must on those quiz days. He has four exams throughout the semester and the questions are nearly exactly the same as the questions on the study guides, so reading is not necessary - given you know the answers from the study guide.
Ralph is great man. He's personable, funny, and cares about what he does. He's also incredibly knowledgeable. He keeps things interesting, and current. One of the better professors I've had, and truly loved this guy.
He's a very nice man, although his lectures are very long and are occasionally boring. He gives weekly 10pt quizzes that cover; lecture notes, book chapters and occasional online readings. His 4 tests are strictly over the 3 books he assigns you. Read them and fill out the study guide and you'll do fine. I highly recommend this teacher for gen. ed
Great class! I liked attending but there is a lot of reading (no matter what teacher you have). There's a "pop" quiz once a week on the lecture material & some of the reading. Two of the quiz grades are dropped (turns into extra credit). The tests are over the books that you HAVE to read. It's a lot of reading but the class was really interesting!
The lectures were pretty long, but most of the stuff was really interesting! He actually made me consider minoring in CJS. There is a bit reading to do but nothing major.... RECOMMEND!!!
If you're not a person willing to read, don't take this class. There are a few books assigned that you must read in order to pass quizzes and tests. There are quizzes every week and all exams are over the books you read. If you read the books, and pay attention in class then you will probably pass this class.
There is a ton of reading for this class and there is a pop quiz on the reading and lecture notes every week. He is a very interesting guy and makes the class not boring. I really liked this class despite all the work for it. I would recommend taking it.
There was a lot of reading but it was necessary in order to do well on his weekly quizzes-can be tough. Very nice teacher and funny. His class was very interesting and I learned SO MUCH. His tests are easy as well. Definitely show up to class - there is no way to pass if you do not show up. Overall, great teacher! Thoroughly enjoyed his class.
He is an awesome professor! If you go to class and take notes his tests are pretty easy. He doesn't try to trick you. He is very knowledgeable and is distinguished. He is great at working with you if you need help. He offers an easy extra credit assignment that boosts your grade a lot. This class is very interesting, one of my favorites so far!
very interesting class but the teacher not so much. he is very bland and the tests have a lot of information that could possibly be on them which makes it hard to study for
Teaches interesting material
Great professor and really knows the material, but tests are extremely difficult. There's a lot of reading required for this class and all the exams are based on the reading so there's no way around it. Gives weekly quizzes based on readings and lecture which are hard as well. Study a lot and you could get a good grade but it wasn't my top priority
Expect to read a ton. The lectures are almost meaningless except for the weekly quizzes he gives on Thursdays. The books are so boring and stupid. They almost have nothing to do with the class expect for the book he wrote. He is a good man and is very intellectual about CJS. It was an ok class for me. Interesting but could get boring at times
Ralph is the best teacher I have had at ISU!! There are three books, 2 of them are very easy/interesting. The third is a book he wrote which is kind of boring, but the tests on them are super easy if you do the reading. He gives weekly quizzes on the notes and reading from the previous week. Easy A if you show up and read the books!! Great class!
All test were about the books
I took CJS102 as a gen ed this year and I am so thankful I did. Ralph's class was a great edition to my day and I enjoyed listening to him lecture. Tests are easy if you read the books provided and there is a "pop" quiz once a week over lecture material. It's really not hard if you just do what he asks of you. Highly recommend!
Easiest criminal justice I have ever taken. If you show up and take notes, you will pass this class with flying colors. He gives you the questions to the exams and the exam is the exact same as the study guide. You have to write a short response paper every week but he basically just hands out 100%.
Ralph is one of those teachers who reads off powerpoints every class. Usually gives out quizzes every Wednesday and along as you read the book its an EASY A.
Took this class as a basic gen ed my first semester of college. 3 cheap books he had us purchase which was what all the tests were based on. Also, weekly quizzes based on his lecture material from the previous week. Tests aren't bad at all as long as you read the books and utilize the study guides that are on the course website.
Tests are over books that are irrelevant to the course. He does not lecture from the books.
Tests are on the books he assigns so lecture isn't required. There are quizes each week, though, and the days he chooses to put them on aren't the same week to week. Lectures are something I look forward to in my day.
I gotta say this dude is a genius. He co-authored a book about everything in lecture, and then required students to buy it for the course. Brilliant business idea. He was also chill and had a good sense of humor. He clearly knew what he was doing. I first thought he was a grumpy old man, but he's super cool! Plus I saw him walking a tiny yorkie :)
Ralph is the sweetest professor Ive had so far. Hes a goofy guy who makes you laugh while you learn. Hes very smart, and starts class with news articles that connect with lecture which is super interesting. All of the tests are based off of the books you read in class, all of which there are quizlets for. 10/10 would recommend him.
I had a hard time in this class. I'll admit, it was partly my fault because of health issues, but this class was a nightmare the rest of the semester. Dr. Weisheit is very hard to get into contact to over email. His lectures are easy to follow - but we go over the same material every single class so it all feels very pointless. Enjoyed some of it.
You will do good in the class as long as you read. The lectures are interesting and he has a great personality! He seems caring and he's pretty laid-back, overall a great Gen-Ed.
I loved this class! Although not a CJS major, he got me interested in the subject. His lectures are interesting and he runs his class in a straight-forward way. You always know what to expect and if you do the reading and go to class, you will get an A or B. Highly recommend.
You read three books (not all at once). You have a quiz every thursday and when theres an exam, its on tuesday. You dont need to show up to the lectures, but beware for some lecture questions in the quizzes . Lecture is extremely boring, but the 2/3 books are interesting to read.
Worst class I took this semester. Only professor who ever gave me bad grades for not answering subjective questions the way he thought they should be answered. Has no desire to see his students succeed, doesn't answer emails, and lectures help in no way to prepare you for any of the quizzes or tests. Everyone I know in the class hates it.
He was a great teacher, anyone who says otherwise just didn't like to read. I would highly recommend him as a professor and the subject itself as well.
Extremely boring class and hard to follow. There are 10 question quizzes the second class of the week. No homework, so getting a good grade is hard unless you read every book , go to every lecture & pay attention. The class is not interesting with this professor.
Overall a good class. Lectures can be boring but Dr. Weisheit is a great professor and you can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches. Weekly quizzes that are easy if you pay attention in class. Tests are solely based on a few books you read.
he is a good professor and knows his stuff. you will take tests which account for most of your grade along with a quiz every Wednesday, but there will be no quiz if you have an exam that week. easy class if you pay attention and look up the readings on quizlet
Overall pretty easy and straightforward, just be ready for lots of reading.
This class was very interesting. I did it online so there were weekly quizzes on readings and lectures and I believe three tests. If you read the material and follow the lectures, you will do good. Dr. Weisheit is very accessible. I emailed him a couple times and received very fast responses. His lectures were very interesting, as a bonus.
The entire course consisted of 11 quizzes (1 every week during a set time & day) and 4 tests. Yes, that's it. Which was nice actually. He seems like a nice enough guy, but the lecture videos were a chore to sit through. The worst part of the class was all the reading. Very boring and also a chore. That's the trade-off for having less work I guess.
Posts PowerPoints and tests are the extent of his contribution to this class. No test retakes, no extra credit work, no homework. Your whole grade is based on the tests. DO NOT MISS A TEST! READ YOUR SYLLABUS! He forces you to buy the book that he wrote and you have to listen to him read his PowerPoints. I would give you a 0 but thats not possible.
Braindead easy class, put in little to no effort. If you think reading is hard then you might struggle, because that's all you'll do this course. His tests are basically the study guides he gives you. This was asynchronous online when I took it, so you could view lectures whenever viable. 3 books required, if in person class might be different.
The lectures in my opinion were pretty interesting. However, if you aren't willing to sit and read about 50 pages of a book a week you will struggle in this class.
Ralph was a very good professor. He was very straightforward with all his work and I definitely recommend him. He is very sweet and passionate about what he is teaching. He wants his students to be interested too. Quizzes and tests all online but lectures in person. Open book and pretty easy exams and quizzes. 10/10 recommend.
Dr. Weisheit was great. Tests were on the book you read, so if you don't read, you probably won't do good. I went to two classes the whole semester and ended with an A in the class.
3 or 4 books but you do not have to read them entirely. If you go to class and take notes and have the books you should be able to get a B at least if not an A. Lectures can be kinda boring, but I found the information to be interesting as a CJS major.
There are 4 exams worth 50 pts and there are 11 small quizzes You need to read the book twice to understand it The study guides do not help much he ask you questions around the questions on the study guide Test are worded weird sometimes. Lectures are really boring and he does not post the slides after so you have to go. Make friends in this class
Quizzes are easy and straightforward. You have to actually read the books to get an A on the tests. If you don't read them and do the study guide you can easily get a B on them.
Bad professor. Boring lecture. He assigns a book to read throughout the semester that he wrote himself. The book is so confusing and hard to read. He then makes 2 50 question exams over his own book and asks the most specific questions ever. I was top 10 in my class and graduated high school with over a 4.0 GPA and am struggling in this class.
Make sure to show up to lecture and this class is an easy A. Dr. Weisheit does a really good job explaining terms and concepts during the lectures and I found the material really interesting too. Overall just a really nice and good professor.
There are three books to read throughout the semester: there are 12 quizzes and 4 tests, all really easy if you read the books and take notes during class. Although slightly boring, this class is an easy A and takes up little time if you have an otherwise heavy courseload.
Very easy to follow along on everything. Personally found everything that was discussed pretty interesting. He ties in recent news which I liked a lot.
I really liked Professor Weisheit. His lectures were very interesting, and he tried tying in current events to make the class more interesting. There were 4 exams, all on different books (two of the exams were the same book). Definitely need to either read the books or do the study guides to do well. Also had weekly quizzes that were pretty easy.
This class is easy if you have a group chat with majority of your classmates. The exams are also very easy if you have either read the books or if you have the books in hand to look up answers because you take the exams on your own online. The lectures are long and the information can be boring, but this professor gives you exactly what you need.
Weisheit's lectures are something that you should go to if you are having problems going to sleep. He doesn't tell you when tests are. He makes you buy and read a book HE WROTE. dropped this class. I've heard good things w/ other professors for this class I would look into them instead.
He was cool.
Professor Weisheit is a very good professor. He makes it almost impossible to fail the class, all of the exams are online and he tells you exactly what the material will be. Pay attention and you will succeed.
Professor Ralph is a humorous older gentleman with a few jokes up his sleeve from time to time. You must come to class or you just won't pass. He is very straight to the point and is lecture-heavy. Please look for his books online before purchasing. It can be boring at times but he attentive to the little things as they come back on exams.
All of the notes taken in class were pointless when it come to exams. All of the exams are strictly off of the books read and one of the books was difficult to remember and make sense of. The quizzes had some to do with the notes.
All exams are online. In-person weekly quizzes but they're not that bad. A lot of the stuff is common sense. Lecture is extremely boring I was on TikTok for 90% of that class. He makes two of the quizzes extra credit. I stopped reading the books after the first one and was fine. Overall not too bad of a class.
i absolutely loved being in his lecture. there is a quiz once a week and exams are online. amazing professor
While I wouldn't want to have Dr. Weisheit as a professor again, for a GenEd Criminal Justice class... he's alright. Quizzes almost every week and four tests. Both of these are purely multiple-choice, which can make them tricky if you miss a day/don't take notes. Not all of the questions' answers are given throughout his slides/lectures.
The lectures were pretty boring but you can tell Dr. Weisheit is passionate about the class. I wouldn't take it again but it was pretty simple for a Gen-ed. Exams are all online but all the quizzes are in person.
he gives a quiz every week that is very difficult and the exams are extremely tough but all online. He goes super fast through a TON of information. I don't recommend taking hand written notes because you won't write it fast enough. One of the books is extremely difficult because it is straight facts. All exams are only off of books and not lecture
Overall terrible professor, lectures are dry and unnecessarily long. Keep in mind every week he has a papers due on articles that make no sense. Also his exam are fill in the blank with no word bank, he just expects you to memorize every definition. Good Luck!
Professor Weisheit's class is straightforward, with weekly quizzes and online exams. While lectures can be dry, engaging with the material and using helpful tools like unstuck AI can make it an enjoyable GenEd course.
Very straightforward professor. Course requires 3 books that requires lots of reading. Although books and lectures can be pretty boring, the test/quizzes are also pretty straightforward and non-difficult. Probably would opt for a more interesting class but it satisfies one of my gen ed credits so hey.
He "teaches" off of slide shows, that should tell you enough. The quizzes and test are only on the books you read as well.
you have a quiz every week but he doesn't tell you which day so you need to show up in order to get the points. his tests are all online though but all based on the books required for the class. He's an okay professor but I don't think I would choose him again
I loved Dr. Weisheit! Passionate about the material he teaches, lectures were interesting. There is one quiz a week over lecture material and readings. One web reading and a few chapters of a book are assigned a week. Don't need to read everything, can infer the answers on the quiz, common sense. Take good notes. All tests are online and open note.
If you are a bad test/quiz taker (like I am myself), do not take this class. The only thing he grades is quizzes and exams. Basically, if you do bad on anything, you're screwed.
The class is very long, and boring. It's very hard to pay attention the entire time, so if you have a short attention spend this class might be pretty difficult. he haves you read chapters of a book, however the pop quizzes do not really match what you read as well. However he doesn't really assign much else than reading assignments which is good.
He does give pop quizzes like once a week so sometimes you dont always have to go if there isnt a quiz. He is very lecture heavy though and it gets a bit boring.
i would recommend if you're interested in a CJS class b/c he is passionate about his lectures. however with the weekly quizzes, i felt like i was constantly worrying about it. they aren't hard, but it can get annoying in the long term. the exams are open note though, and he is generous with the bonus quizzes by the end of the semester!
I hated this class. Tests are online but once a week he will have a ten point quiz in lecture which sucks. I hated these quizzes. They are over the most random things pulled from the text and lecture. This class also is super boring and all he does is read off slides. I did like when he would talk about current events, he's a king for that.
he only grades quizzes/ exams. they are very easy, and the lectures are pretty engaging. he's really nice as well! i loved taking this class and would 100% recommend.
