Very dry teacher and hard to understand because of her accent. Not helpful or interested in her students at all even if you ask for it. AVOID!

AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!! She doesn't explain anything at all. I ended up teaching myself EVERYTHING out of the textbook. Also, her exams are extremely confusing.

She is not a very good teacher and her tests include material we haven't gone over at home or in class. She often gets confused by her own work. Avoid having her if possible!

Lectures are useless, not clear and not helpful. BE AWARE OF THE TEST!!!!!!! Tests aren't tough but it's just SOOOO LONG! I am aware of all the material and do homework every day. Just can't finish all the problem sets in the exam and you won't have enough time to think about the every questions in the exams. Try to avoid her at all cost.

Wouldn't recommend this teacher to my worst enemy. Be prepared to study practice exams and the book for hours till you find the teacher move the equations to way you never learned to solve. This is the HARDEST teacher I have ever had and refuses to help during office hours referring you to the help center. Do not take any class with this teacher.

Her lectures make no sense, and all she does is talk in circles. ALOT of effort is needed to get a good grade in this class. DON'T TAKE A CLASS WITH HER. JUST WAIT FOR NEXT SEMESTER TO TAKE CLASS WITH A DIFFERENT PROF. Literally reads slides that are verbatim from the textbook. It is really hard to learn math just from a textbook.

She is honestly one of the worst professors I have taken at UMD. She reads off of powerpoint to teach math which is the worst way to teach it. For my second exam I studied over 20 hours and still ended with a C on it. I would never take her again and I recommend to always avoid her at all costs. It was one of the worst mistakes I have made.

Professor Rosca does not teach. All she does is read off of slides and makes you more confused after you leave the lecture. Her Matlab projects are annoying because she does not give any useful help. If you have to take linear algebra, do not take her at all. She is one of the most horrible professors at UMD.

Worst teacher of my life. Not because of my grade, not because of the difficulty of the course, because of her teaching style. unless you know everything in math, please avoid her. I attended the lectures every freaking times, but a matter is that no one understands what she teaches for, I asked everyone in my discussion. I dont understand how is she still at umd. Also, their TA's will assume that you understood everything form lecture, hence, they're basically helpless.

If you're the type of student that likes to learn everything on your own and never attend lecture, this is the professor for you. Otherwise stay far away. I attended and paid attention to every lecture and can honestly say the time would have been better spent just reading straight from the book (which was also not great).

She has a thick accent that is hard to understand. What she teaches may be hard to understand if you do not read the textbook. You have 3 homeworks and 3 labs due every week. There are 3 exams, not including the final. If you do well on the final and have a higher score than your other exams, she'll replace your exam grades with your final.

I have taken alot of college level math courses. I did not always have the best teacher. However this is by far the worst teacher I have had. Lectures are pointless and her teaching is pointless. Unless you already know the material there is no point in taking her class. The work load is heavy and the TA's are no help as well. This class is awful.

She is by far the worst professor I have encountered at UMD. The lectures are pointless and people do not even go because she cannot teach. The TAs make it sort of easier, but some of them are rude, so if you do not have prior experience with this class, you will struggle and will have to go to Math Success very often.

If you have not had previous pre-calc or even calc classes, you must prepare in some way because she does not ease into anything. You basically teach the course to yourself. She spends a whole class doing one easy example that would never be on a test. You will not have a day that you don't have work in this class.

The worst math teacher I've ever had and I've had some pretty terrible math teachers. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother attending lectures because they're useless. Her handwriting is illegible and she has no idea how to teach the material. I would not have passed the class without the help of the TAs. Overall terrible experience!

Hard class at UMD. She will let you know of quizzes a few days in advanced. She's accessible during office hours. A lot of homework and the way tests are graded are really hard. Lectures are pointless and don't help. Good luck if you need this class.

Lectures are mostly her proving why you use a formula but not really how to use them. Lectures were also about a week behind from what we did in homework so they were pretty useless. I pretty much taught myself everything from the book. Tests were also a huge portion of the grade, 75% and they were graded really harshly. Not an easy class to pass.

This class was awful, she seems like she doesn't know what she's doing. If you have any opportunity to avoid her, please do!

It doesn't get any worse than Rosca. If you don't use your TA's help, Math Success, textbook, or YouTube's help then don't even think about passing. She's not helpful at all and holds students hostage with quizzes on subject material they haven't learned in lecture yet. Prepare to be gravely disappointed.

An absolutely awful teacher. She is completely unorganized, and any time she does lecture I get more confused. Quiz every lecture and discussion- which was every day for me. Must teach yourself material and utilize TA and tutoring. Ruined my GPA. Avoid if possible.

If you are not proficient in Pre-Calculus, you will have to spend a lot of time outside of class teaching yourself the material. The lectures are pretty much useless in terms of gaining knowledge because she spends most of the class doing problems with little explanation. If you can avoid taking this class, DO IT!

No teaching whatsoever. Be prepared to teach yourself all of the material. Skip lectures on days when there are no quizzes, and when there are quizzes leave immediately afterwards. Lectures are completely useless. However, she's surprisingly nice one-on-one. Go to office hours to build a relationship with her, but don't expect it to be helpful.

Your grade relies almost completely on your exam grades. It isn't a fun class and it brought me a lot of stress. She gave us lecture quizzes nearly every morning which she took so long sharing with us that we never had enough time. By the end of the semester i ended up skipping lecture just because the feeling of clueless was not worth it.

Lectures were worthless, you didn't learn anything from the lecture as she attempted to poorly explain problems only tentatively related to whatever you were supposed to be learning that day. I could have skipped every lecture and done better had she not administered an ELMS quiz on new material every single class which took half the class.

Worst professor ever. HIGHLY do NOT recommend. Please save yourself and do not take this professor or any of her classes. Spent most of the time on quizzes and our pre lecture stuff but never go to any of the teaching material.

Hopefully you tested out of MATH115, or you will be in for a hard semester of MATH115. You'll have to learn everything by yourself, she does not teach anything.

First of all, her voice is annoying and makes you not want to go to lecture. The material isn't super difficult, but her explanations confuse you more than if you were to teach yourself. TAs are also no help. There's a reading quiz at the beginning of every lecture and a post-lecture quiz during every discussion, so think twice before you skip.

Okay so, this is hands down the worst teacher or professor Ive ever had. She seems like a super intelligent person but, cannot teach whatsoever. She knows what shes talking about but she cant communicate it to the class. Ive only learned through the TA and the textbook. If you have to take this class, GOODLUCK.

She's horrible at explaining things. Only reason I passed is cause i learned this stuff before. Legit just had to ignore her in lecture and rely on the book. I dont know how but the methods she makes simple lessons very complicated. She's trying her best but she's just not a good prof. If you take, the book is your friend. TA can come in clutch too

If you can test out of this class, please do. This class is awful, to be frank. This professor messed up the weight scale for our grades, and just fixed it, so now our grades are dropping. Long story short, it would benefit you to not take this class.

Worst professor I've had. She doesn't explain the material clearly and you can barely read her handwriting and her accent is hard to understand. Exams are so different than lectures/homework. You get to have a formula sheet for exams but other than that, good luck. She's the only MATH115 teacher so test out if you can.

If you dont test out of this class, try taking precalc at a community college because she is the only precalc prof at umd. ONE day before the FINAL day to withdraw she just uploads a excel spreadsheet that says tht we need to import our grades since she did the canvas grade weight wrong, no apology or explanation whatsoever. dont go to lectures.

She is just not a good teacher. I knew all the information from high school but during lecture, I was so lost. She doesn't explain things in a way that makes sense, and the whole structure of the class is super confusing. Online videos, GSS, and discussion saved me in this class. If you have the option to not take her, do it.

Only did well because I learned the material in high school and was seeing it for the second time. Zero point in going to lecture other than to get handouts and copy sample problems to learn in discussion. Terrible teacher, all she did was confuse me so I basically retaught myself everything. I wish she would have followed the textbook more closely so that students could know where to keep up. She kept adjusting overall weights of assignments, tests, etc throughout the semester (3times) .her lectures were impossible to follow. The course has tons of assignments....a double edged sword. Stay on top of your stuff. Youve been warned

The course is poorly constructed. The material doesnt build upon its self in a productive way. The classes have around 100 students and the lectures are legit useless. The professor is not wanting to help students as well doesnt explain the material clearly. The TAs are amazing and are the pathway to success.

I only had her class for a week right now and if it werent for the fact that I took precalc in high school, I would already be failing right now. She makes simple questions overly complicated, she takes a whole class period to demonstrate two problems and her methods of doing them. I learn better from the textbook and my HS notes than her.

Please drop out. She has a really bad attitude towards students. She is very rude and does not give enough instructions on the course. If you didn't take precalc in high school, good luck, you will fail.

This woman is easily the worst professor Ive ever bet had. Listens to none of her students feedback and grades incorrectly and carelessly without fixing mistakes. Probably will ruin my freshman year GPA. Drop this class if you have this professor.

AVOID THIS CLASS IF YOU CAN. The professor is not good at teaching concepts, the TA'S do a better job at teaching in discussions than the professor does, and she TOYS WITH YOUR GRADE. Without any warning or logical reasoning, your grade may dramatically drop at random. Math is already enough, of a headache, but this class makes it so much worse.

Simply put SHE LIES! I took this class with this woman my freshman year and all throughout the semester I had a great grade and was happy with my performance (no thanks to her). Little did I know that at the end of the semester she would drop all the assignments that were helping grades I dropped (36%). A year later shes doing it again. BE WARNED

Professor Rosca is no doubt the worst professor I have come across. She doesnt care about her students, screws with our grades, pushes off questions/concerns, and acts like nothing happens. She weighted our midterm as 80% of our grade and because of that I am now failing. Absolutely never take this class with her, you will regret it deeply

This woman literally doesnt care about you or your grades. She quite literally dismisses all the students in the class when we want to discuss our grades. She also randomly changes the weight of an EXAM in the MIDDLE of the semester. She is rude and doesnt know how to teach. And majority of her students have already taken PRECALC BEFORE!

She constantly lies to her students. Like she literally inputs grades randomly and extremely late. She doesnt provide much support as well. Be extremely cautious of adding this class. If you need this class for credit, Id recommend taking the placement exam instead. Youll save yourself a whole semester worth of stress and annoyance.

If I could rate this professor a 0/5 I would. When you first meet her it seems that the class is going to be manageable, but we were wrong. She constantly waves students off and doesn't care about their well-being. We all understand that it's difficult and that we are in a pandemic, but she simply does not care. 0/5 Save yourself and do MATH120.

Changes how they weigh grades throughout the semester without warning. Hard to learn the material during lectures. Professor does not answer questions often during the lecture.

If you have to take this class, youre better off taking a lower level math class rather than dealing with Rosca. She has changed the weight of our grades, making the exams weigh for most of our grade. I genuinely adored math back in high school but this professor makes me dread math now. This Professor should have been fired long ago.

Dr. Rosca does not respect her students. Many times assignments were posted late Sunday night due for the Monday 9am lecture. Changed her grade policy throughout the semester with no warning and lectures made little sense. I am a new freshman who is adjusting to online college in a pandemic. Dr. Rosca was the most stressful part of my semester.

I love math but she made me hate it even though this course isn't impossible to pass. We never knew our actual grade for the whole semester. After exam 2 she sent us to excel where we had to put in all the grades for quizzes, HWs, and exams to get our actual grade. Always changing the grading policy. TAKE IT IN A COMMUNITY COLLEGE/SOME UNIVERITY

Lacking organization. Poor communication skills with students which often leaves them stressed and confused. Transition between lectures are also very choppy. It feels like unit hopping without transition. She often makes mistakes in her work and they are only corrected if a student notices the error. She knows the content, but cant teach.

Professor Rosca does not know how to effectively teach this class. Explanations are very confusing, and while the TA was slightly more helpful, it was not enough to make up for the poor teaching of the professor. Grading sometimes took extended periods of time which can get stressful for a class that weights exams so heavily.

She's tough grader, but than she doesn't know how to teach the material effectively. She gives quizzes on new material she haven't went over and has groups quizzes everyday. The exams are worth so heavily it really don't matter if you do the assignments. Posts assignments last min and changes due dates without notice and grading policy.

Do NOT take a class taught by Prof Rosca whatever you do. If you signed up and are looking through these now, you're better off dropping the class. Plain and simple, this class was a dumpster fire of disorganization, completely inconsiderate assignment times, and total ignorance of her students' issues. The tests are way too quick, and heavy.

I am not even that far into this class and I can already tell you, DO NOT take it at all costs. Rosca does not respond to emails, no matter how urgent, she is not the understanding type and she expects you to understand very heavy concepts (regardless of previous math knowledge). I took this class to prepare me for calculous, I shouldn't have.

Rosca is the worst teacher I've ever had. Her exams are way harder than her exam preps, she puts stuff on the exam that was not on the exam prep, answer keys for the exam preps are oftentimes wrong, and sometimes exam preps are due after the exam. When you try to express your concerns, she does not seem to care. Avoid taking her class if possible.

Rosca is a great individual but the course is just hard. Learning multiple new concepts each week and being left confused in lecture is not helpful to get a passing grade. Roscas lectures are confusing because of how she writes her notes and her way of explaining is not easy to follow. To pass you must spend many hours studying on your own.

The instructor was heavily lecture based and did not seem to explain things very well in the lectures. I have faith that maybe she is a good teacher, but that class was just not it.

Also her test bank answers are wrong sometimes so you can't even rely on practice tests to study and when confronted with it she basically was like "Not my problem" RUN!!!

Listen, I'll give you the most honest Raluca Rosca Math115 review here. She has been the worst teacher I have had in all my years of education undoubtedly. If you are required to take her course you must study every night and review the textbook and utilize other resources. The midterms are formatted terribly and she is very hard to understand.

Rosca is a lovely person but her class is very difficult. Something new is covered every class & you have to learn it on your own. TAs are your best bet for help but like her, they're sometimes hard to understand because of their accent. You have to pay $100 for the online textbook & there is hw due every night. Just take math115 in the summer!

If you take this class, you have to be prepared to have to teach yourself. The lectures were not helpful at all so if you're not using resources it will be a lot more difficult to do good. I wouldn't recommend this professor to anyone, if you can take it in the summer or another math class I would do so.

I'd rather rub salt in my eyes than take this class again.Raluca rushed most if not all lectures. She also seemed annoyed when people raised their hand to ask questions. Your best bet is going to both the TA's and her office hours. You'll also have to teach yourself most of the material so fair warning. She posts lecture recordings which is a plus.

There is absolutely no other way to say this but, DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO GET A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR. If you don't have a choice, nothing to say but prepare for the storm.
