Once you get by the accent, his class really isn't bad at all. He explains things clearly and the tests come right from his notes/powerpoints. I highly reccomend him!
this man is ridiculous! his test was from the book and he only accepted the answer from the book, even though the entire class had a different one. i am warning anyone thinking about him for the spring...DONT DO IT! i will be formally complaining about this professor soon so maybe you wont be able to take him!
I second the previous comment. Here is my take on him. His logic? Forget it - you'd be better off trying to keep an ice cube frozen in HELL. Also, I have a question to those who offered him a job. WHY? what the F*** where you thinking.
YO he talks so much about coffee and bagels..so much about his curve and it doesn't help..DO NOTTT TAKE HIM! warning..well unless its ya second time..
He spends so much time in class on concepts he thinks are valuable, but then he takes the test questions out of a test bank that have very little to do with class. He is worthless and so is his crappy curve (he calls it "facto")since you need it after he tests on concepts you can't find in the book or lecture. His curve is 10% of your individual
Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, avoid this prof. Grading=horribly unfair. Final exam is 60% of final grade. Exams are difficult to study for. Hard to understand, inconsiderate, and actually pretty annoying. Does examples in class, but the test questions are from the authors of the text book, not like his examples at all.
ok let me put it clearly for u. Do not take him.
He was a nice guy and he meant well. Unfortunately, thats not good enough. The final was documented to be from 7 to 10. He decided to stop us at 8:30. No prior notice that he would do this. Result: FAILED the final. Barely passed the class. GPA was hit HARD.
If u dislike homework and are a good test taker, he is THE BEST teacher for u. His tests are very abstract. Every question is a problem, there are no multiple choice or True false. Showing up to virtually every class is a must. All and all a good teacher, although test taking is the entire class, 20%, 20% 60%(cumulative final).
This guy talks about coffe and bagel so much would be an ideal manager at Starbucks. Does not follow the book on the problems seems like some of the multiple choice questions did. I won't recommend him to you.
Biggest drawback is his accent. He doesnt take attendance and never uses the book in class. He might give you a suggested assignment, but wont collect it. He purposely doesnt learn your name so that he can be a fair grader. If the class needs more time to learn he will gladly give it to you. Tests make the grade; if you participate he gives "bonus"
Worst prof I've ever had. Doesn't understand english or how to teach students. He tests over material not covered in class or in the book (which he doesn't use). Grade based on 3 tests, 10 questions each. I have never in my life almost failed a class until this one. He should be fired.
I am the last person to complain about accents and all that, but I honesty feel that Ram doesn't have a firm enough grasp of the English language to properly teach Managerial Economics. The exams are wildcards beacuse the material is never clear, and he doesn't review well. This is not a good thing when the final is 60% of your grade. Beware.
The worst teacher I have ever had. Very hard to understand, and has no teaching ability. The entire class is just reading the slides that are issued with the book.
Completely nonlinear - has no organization or process for math based calculations; easily distracted and highly disorganized in lectures; does not use same methods, nomenclature or style as text.
I wish I had read these postings before registering. These comments are no joke and no exaggeration. Don't even think about it. In the process of withdrawing as of this writing.
Ram is a great teacher. He is VERY funny, easy to get along with. IF YOU DO NOT STUDY YOU WILL NOT PASS. I would recommend him to anyone who is a good student. If you are looking for an easy A look somewhere else.
I took Ram and got a 4.0. If you've taken other ecn classes, you'll see that he doesn't teach what he probably should be, but his tests are just like the examples in class that he does 100 times over again. Go to every class and you'll get an A. Pay close attn so you can understand his accent.
Thick accent, hard to understand. Does not teach from the book what so ever, then pulls the test questions out of the test bank from the book. Attendance is not madatory but you won't pass unless you attend every class. Every example is about coffee! You must study for hours. I am a good students and struggled to get a B.
Good professor! Is very clear, accent is NOT bad. Exams have a lot of math in them but he pounds the functions in your head so hard you cannot forget them. Entire grade is based off three exams which is intimidating but he is very fair in his methods of grading! Would definitely recommend taking Ram. "Is it OK?" "Coffee and Bagel!"
Ok Professor. You get used to the accent. Really nice and wants to help you understand the material. 3 Tests. Only 10 questions each. You NEED to study for the tests! The material is hard and you need to put effort into the class in order to pass!
If your like any of the business majors I had to listen to all semester, just stop reading; you'll never be happy, and you'll constantly whine about whatever Prof. you have, so seriously, why bother. Dont buy the book. Tests all from examples he does in class. No H.W. or quiz. EC for showing work on test. Stay for every class, best examples last.
the last rating is right, he told us the first day that we don't need the book unless we want it,all his notes are power point and he posts it on line. gives no homework and a ton of examples that are near identical to what is on the test. If you go to class and actually try, you will do well. If you dont understand, he is very friendly.Great prof.
He would not help you out whatsoever. He is extremely hard to understand. I do not recommend taking his class.
this guy is literally the worst professor i have ever had. he is foreign and u cant understand anything he is saying and he doesnt explain anything he will just start writing numbers on the board and expect you to just figure it out yourself. He sucks. dont take his classes unless you absolutely have to.
If you can't add subtract multiply or divide, then yes "all those numbers on the board" will be tough.I saw as much as 30% E/C for neat and complete math on the TESTS! VERY patient and always friendly.lets you use calc on tests, which cuts problems in half.his notes are power point and he posts them!Yes,if you skip class you may not do well, shocking.
straight forward. make sure you go to class and follow him when he does the examples. he puts a huge curve on every test. most people who complain about him do not come to every class or dont pay attention and then complain when they do not do well. this is definitely a class where what you put into the class is what you get out
Only gives you three 10 question tests the whole semester. 7 are "guessing game" or multiple choice and 3 are problems you have to work out. I would not reccommend this professor to anyone unless you have to take this class. Doesnt want to know your name & is hard to understand. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
I admit that I wasn't pumped about economics to begin with, but seriously this class sucks. He has no respect for his students and he'll let you know when he's getting pissed off that u cant learn this subject while trying to understand his crazy accent from God knows where. He will NOT learn your name, but he MIGHT give you a pity 2.0.
I love this professor. He has an accent but it's really funny to hear him. He makes material very easy to understand by doing numerous examples. This class is easy and the teacher is super friendly. I would love to take another one of his classes! High recommendations!
Ridiculously easy class for anyone with half a brain. I got a 130% in the class, he gives loads of EC and a huge grading curve. He gives plenty of time to take notes, and gives examples to explain the textbook jargon. He's a funny guy and honestly one of the best profs I have ever had. I would definitely take him again in an instant.
AWESOME! one of the best professors ive had at OU. very nice guy and knows his stuff. also really funny. gives a TON of extra credit and gives huge curves... class was a breeze, anyone dumb enough to fail his class seriously should not be in college
This man is great. The only way you could possibly fail this class is if you don't attend class. He's really lively and he's got a great sense of humor. I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone.
Dr. Orzach is a really great professor. the only way to succeed in his class is going to it! YOU MUST GO...and if you do it will be a breeze!...it's all from his examples and tests are easy with huge curves. show good work for extra credit and enjoy his sense of humor. Awesome professor!
Ram is extremely foreign (which makes it hard to understand what he is saying). I was able able to get a 4.0 in his class because I showed a ton of work on every exam. He does a ton of examples in class which make it alot easier to understand the material.
Ram is the WORST prof anyone can run into. He has a very thick Jewish accent and if he comes to know you are Muslim from your name or last name, he is boudn to fail you. He spends most of th etime repeating himself because students are saying 'pardon me'. I really do not knwo how he got his teaching degree and more importantly why OU signed him.
Horrible professor. Turned a microecon class into a math course. Class consisted of 2 things: doing examples on the board and sitting in silence as he gives you 10 minutes to copy a ppt slide. May know what he's doing but doesn't know how to teach it. Probably a good guy, just a horrible teacher.
Ram is a very funny prof. with a thick accent, but you get used to it and it's not terrible. The class consists of 2 exams and a final. They are curved and easy if you: pay attention, do the bare minimum examples, and go to every class. He's not a bad prof. at all, you just need to go to class. If you test well, I highly recommend him.
He is a very nice guy and keeps class entertaining. I struggled a lot in his class.Even though attendance is not mandatory, You NEED to go to every class to really understand the material. Dont buy the book. Go up for bonus points because most peopel that did ended up with excellent grades in the class and a better understanding of the material.
Dr. Orzach is a very fair professor. He does a lot of examples, and if he doesn't think that you understand he will do more. His class does only consist of 3 tests, so you must go to class and pay attention. I personally think that he is a good professor that cares about his students.
Grades based on 2 midterms and 1 final exam. I never used the book or took notes on the powerpoint. If you can follow along with the mathematical examples and understand the concept, you'll do great. You need to go to all the classes and stay focused. He'll give bonus pts if you solve probs on the board correctly, so do so!
Very nice man.. If you have any questions he is always kind and willing to help. Wears the same thing everyday tho and sometimes hard to understand but all in all he is a great Teacher.
best teacher
A great teacher. If you show up for every class and take notes, you should have no trouble getting AT LEAST a 3.0 in this class. 3 exams are all that he gives. The final is worth 60% of your total grade but if you study hard, it will be very easy. Gives a lot examples in class, and if you dont understand he will do it again until you do understand.
THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD! My first Economics course, and because of him I changed my major to business. I've never seen a professor so concerned with student understanding and success. Go to class and SI sessions, do practice examples and extra credit opportunities. I got 127% in the course. Highly recommended!
Terrible prof. I heard he was really good in the Ecn 210 class so i figure to to try the ECN 303. Very unclear and hard to understand. Thank god for the S.I.
Ram is such an amazing guy. He is funny and he is so passionate about his work. If you do not attend every single class though, you will fail. The SI after class is very helpful too. The class is based on calculus but he teaches you exactly how to do every step of an equation and does tons and tons of examples where he offers BONUS POINTS!
Always has shirt un-tucked in the same spot every class. Hard to understand and constantly called me out during class, made me feel like an idiot. 3 tests 10 questions each are all you get. No extra credit. No homework. Don't take him if you don't plan on going to the SI. The most annoying professor I've had in 3 and a half years.
He's a horrible teacher and hard to understand. There were only 8 kids in the class and 4 failed. I have a 3.5 at OU and got a 1.0 in the class! At least 5 times a class, people would look around at each other with such a confused look on their face! On a positive note, he is nice and will answer any questions you have and has passion for ECN.
Orzach is a great, if not the best, Econ professor at Oakland. I took him for ECN 201 and 303 and passed easily in both. Don't listen to everyone else here, if you go to class, you will do great.
Thank god for the SI. Without the SI I wouldn't have been able to understand ANYTHING. He tries to be funny and he really isn't. Grades based on 3 exams and that's it. I still have an exam to take so hopefully I pass. I do not recommend taking this professor to anyone. And if you do take the class be sure to go to the SI anytime you can.
Worst professor known to man. Constantly picks on people in class for no reason, heavy accent. Tests are nothing like what you learn in class. Only 3 exams. Final is worth up to 65% of your grade. This guy should be fired. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
OK, If it were not for the SI, I wouldn't have passed. The SI instructor explained everything SO much better than the professor. He has an incredibly heavy accent and rambles for endless amounts of time. Be prepared to hear about coffee and bagels a lot because thats what he uses as his examples.
I loved this class!! The material is quite easy, and I had never taken any econ classes prior to this one. It only involves simple college algebra, so if you've taken that then you should be fine. Yes there were plenty of times where I couldn't understand what he was saying due to his accent, but the man has an incredible sense of humor!
He is one of my favorites. He repeats problems and gives students plenty of time to copy notes. He likes when students participate for "bonuses." I suggest him, one of the best in his department.
Rants for hours about stuff no one cares about. He relies on powerpoints that teach more than he does. He is barely understandable and does not clarify on the subject matter. Do not take him.
Ram is a very nice guy. You need to know how to handle him and you'll be okay he has a great sense of humor, a little quirky but nonetheless he's an uplifting person to be around. If interested in Economics you will probably get an A-B in this course. If you have no desire to learn it and just want to run through it you'll probably get a B-D.
Is it ok
"It is 1:21, we should start(Claps hands)" as each class begins. He will tell about himself and his teaching style followed by "Good? Bad? IDK" or "IS IT OKAY!?" He grades tests on a sunny day so he is in a happy mood. "EHHHHH" he will say as he trails off from a completely un related story as he stares you in the eyes. TAKE HIM, funniest prof ever
Dr. Ram Orzach is a very funny man! He makes the class interesting, and he's very helpful. The class is all mathematics. However, he makes sure you understand and will do many examples. There are only three grades per semester: midterm, exam, and the final. He will drop the first grade if it was not good as long as you do well on the final.
I took Honors college game theory with this prof, and it was a horrible experience! It was a beta course with no book, only fragmented packets. He is very inconsistent in grading and unreasonable. He frequently marks things wrong that you got correct and refuses to change the answer. He can be funny at times but overall he was a terrible prof.
He did a phenomenal job at teaching the material, and he would show multiple examples to make sure everyone understood. He was very generous on giving points on exams even if you got the question wrong, so show your work! Basic understanding of algebra is necessary, but nothing difficult. He has an accent, but it's pretty easy to understand.
Very nice teacher. Always looking to help you get a better grade. Loves giving out bonuses. Need to know math but works to help you understand.
Very mixed feelings with this professor. Material can be difficult and you will have to study hard. He does not believe in teaching out of a textbook. Class is purley math. 3 exams 10 questions each consisting of around 7 math problems and 3 multiple choice. Try's his best to help students succeed
Can't believe no one here warned us about this but, DO NOT BUY BOOK! Very nice guy but I'm only doing good because of SI. He always says "GOOD,BAD?" or "IS IT OKAY!" Tests are alright. He gets questions from the book's test bank which is annoying because sometimes you don't understand the question. The best professor for ECN 303 tho. The rest suck!
Orzach is an extremely smart man and he knows his subject well. Never any homework in this class, and you don't have to worry about reading the book. Be prepared to use coffee and bagel for every example he does. His course is almost entirely math. If you're good at math, take it. If not, skip this professor. And GO TO SI!!! It's SO helpful.
Very good professor! Answers all questions, or ask for "public speaking for everybody!". He is hilarious! I'm always laughing in his class. GO TO SI. Though he is a good professor, SI helps soo much. It's basically all math based. You will have to study and know the material, but it is not too bad. I enjoyed this class a lot!
Don't buy the book. You won't even need it to teach yourself material. This class is difficult with whoever you take it with, but he is probably one of the better professors. SI helped a lot. GO TO IT! I'm soo happy I've completed that class.
"Is it OK?" - lol. This professor is great. Sometimes hard to understand through his accent, but always makes sure the class is paying attention. Don't buy the book, I didn't and got a 3.8 in the class. If you can use formulas and take simple derivatives, you'll do great. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you show up every class you'll pass.
If you are a math person, this is a great class to take. Everything is math based and there was minimal vocabulary. We had an SI along with the class, I preferred to go to that rather than Orzach's lectures. His tests will be worded differently compared to what you learn in class. Bought the book, did not need it.
Attendance is not mandatory but one should definitely attend. The class is made of three exams. If math is not your strong suit then take a different Econ class. He is very funny and does many examples. Always willing to help when needed. If you do bad on one of the first two exams he will normally drop it. Very fun and I didn't mind going to class
I wanted to drop his class the first day because he seemed intimidating. His accent threw me off guard and the material was getting hard. BUT, Orzach turned out to be a great professor. The things he does in class is so repetitive. His exams aren't bad either. He Is a super easy teacher and curves a lot! I ended with well over a 100% in the class.
Dr. Orzach doesn't believe in Economics, he actually calls it "Fiction". He teaches you math problems that have no names or sections numbers. I took his word for word notes to the tutoring center and no one could help me. Don't bother buying the book because you won't be learning that "Fiction" anyhow.
Terrible Prof will never take again
He is actually one of the best professors i've had b/c he really wants the class to get everything & he's hilarious. Your grade is made up of 3 exams including the final & he curves them. I've gotten over a 100% on all of them. Econ's not a an easy class so don't think you can never show up & pass. People who showed up everyday got over a 4.0.
Professor Orzach was one of the most confusing professors I've ever had. Unfortunately, because of his extremely thick accent, I was unable to understand what he was explaining most of the time. The only, I repeat, THE ONLY reason passed ECN 201 was because I went to SI EVERY DAY. My SI explained the math much better than the professor. GO TO SI!!!
Only way I was able to 4.0 this class was because of SI, I stopped going to class after a month and instantly understood all the material. He has a thick accent, but grades very weirdly, typically the curve on the exams is about 20% if not more. Grade consists of 3 exams, but he drops the first one if you do better on the next 2.
This class is very easy if you go to class and follow along with the problems given. He curves the tests a lot, a lot of people end up with over 100% on tests, but others that do not go to class or put in effort often get low grades. This class definitely requires being good at mathematics but only to the extent of basic algebra.
If you can't do basic algebra, don't do this class. If you're not quick with numbers, don't do this class. This is best class I've taken ever at OU. Love the guy! So funny and genuine. Easiest class of my life, got over 170% on both exams. Have to show up to the final and try to fail in order to 4.0, curves are crazy stupid. Best class ever, easy!
Ram talks about Coffee and Bagel. His accent is sometimes tough to understand, but is ok. Don't buy the book, you won't use it. 4 grades for the class, he gives bonus points to those that solve problems on the board. I would have gotten a 3.8 if I skipped the final (which is worth 50%) just because of bonuses
I did not like this professor at all. He has a thick accent that was very difficult to understand. During tests he refuses to answer questions (it's an unfair advantage to everyone else??). If you can't do basic math, don't take this class. If you do take it with him, don't expect to actually learn any economics.
I had Orzach for 303 and he is honestly the worst professor I have ever taken in my 4 years of undergraduate courses. Exams are tough and after not understanding any of them, he did not offer any advice to better myself other than to attend the SI sessions. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
So, Orzarch is unclear, confusing, and all math. Your grade is 3 tests, and usually if you do well on the final he drops the worst of the two prior test scores. He's a nice guy, and if you understand the math and SHOW YOUR WORK you'll pass. He gives the most 4.0's (and the most 0.0's) in the department. It's tough to get an in-between.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! I'm not just saying that because I failed. I am a great student with a 3.4 GPA who has never failed a class in my life! But I will tell you this... He DOESN'T care to see you succeed. I went to him for help many times and he told me to see the SI. I was already seeing him on a regular basis! I promise you will regret taking him.
The easiest professor you can imagine. These kids below me reviewing him as a bad professor are the students who cannot do basic algebra! I took him for 201 and 303 he was the easiest 4.0 you can imagine. If you go to class and SI, you will 4.0. It is two step equations and game theory which are the simplest things. Nicest person and funny as heck!
Has the hardest accent to understand
This class is all math. If youre good at basic high school math, you're guaranteed to pass. If you're really good at math it's an easy 4.0, trust me. If youre not good at math you can still pass the class by going to SI after every class. SI is extremely helpful, I went after every class and tbh it was a big reason why I got a 4.0.
He seemed okay in the beginning and really laid back. If you get the material you are good to go but he doesn't help much. He says that "arithmetic doesn't matter" it matters because on tests he looks closely at arithmetic. At least he looked at mine closely.
Limited effort for maximum BANTER. EASY CLASS YOU SHOULD PASS
Easiest Class I have ever taken. I don't understand why he has such a poor rating. He cares about the students and will answer any questions."Math intensive", but as long as you understand basic algebra, you will be fine. ATTEND THE LECTURES. Orzach is more lenient of a grader if you do. His Si is also an extraordinary source . Make good use of it.
I learned nothing in this class all semester and had to learn the entire course from the SI. He calls himself "tricky" which means he likes to put things on the exam that he doesn't really teach in depth in class. The SI is constantly correcting his mistakes while he's supposed to be teaching us how to do it the correct way, which confuses everyone
Easy 4.0 class if you need to take this class for a credit. No book needed for this class. Consists or 3 tests which includes the final exam. Each test is 10 questions and basic math.
Very math oriented, but a great professor. Does not make going to class a requirement, but it is in your best interest to attend every class. Very clear in what he expects and is a very nice guy as well. Do not take him if you do not like math.
Good class, even better Professor! As long as you attend class and do the examples he provides you should have no problem. He has a really nice curve and exams are almost identical to what he does on the board. Could not recommend enough!
Worst teacher ever. Made me fail my class because you LITERALLY cannot understand him. And no, don't disregard this comment. 20% of the kids failed because of him. No homework. No study guides. Just curveballs on tests that you don't know answers to.
worst professor ever. dont take his class. set up to fail
Grade involves one quiz, a midterm, and the final exam. All are 10 questions. Gives bonuses within class periods which can be used towards the exam. "If you aren't good at math (solving variables) then you will suffer." Very math orientated, but easy problems and exams are exactly like the problems from class! Recommend.
Do not take this professor! Omg I can not express how much frustration I have gone through in the semester. He made me buy a new calculator because mine was too complex, makes us buy scantron a for 1 question, and I could never understand him! I went to a peer to peer session and the peer said that its hard to help me because he teaches horribly
Man, Ram Orzach i know youre reading this cause you told the class you did. well you may have your doctorates, but you should not be teaching. You are way too hard to understand, and when i do understand you its about crap irrelevant to class... your exams are nothing you post on your powerpoints... terrible man, just retire.
I love Ram! I think he's so funny, and we still chat even after I've finished taking both ECN201 and ECN303 with him. GO TO SI!!! That is where you will better understand the material. I got a 4.0 in ECN201 and a 2.0 in ECN303 (my own fault, got test anxiety and forgot formulas during exams). He really wants his students to do well in the class.
The course I had him for was not difficult, however there are only 3 grades the entire semester, so the class can get stressful if you mess up one of the tests. He is difficult to understand, so if you take him, be sure to get help.
I don't know what people are saying when they say Ram is a bad professor, because literally all you need to do is come to class and pay attention and you will get an easy 4.0 All his classes are math based and are super easy to understand. There are three tests, that compose your whole grade and you can get over 100% on each test. TAKE HIM FOR ECON
Worse professor. Its hard to keep up to what hes saying his exam questions are only 10. Its always tough to understand his lectures. I learned most of the class material from the SI. Get ready to read and become your own professor. Trust me you wont learn a thing from Ram Orzach.
I regret taking his class. Its hard to understand him during the lecture. His exam questions arent even related to what we study in class. Im so glad he doesnt teach this course next semester. I learned more things from the SI.
Honestly just show up to class and pay attention to the math, make a formula sheet, study it. Its not as bad as people make him seem. I got a 4.0 easily. He curves every exam, and the SI for my class would make practice exams and sometimes the SI was more helpful than him. NO HW!!! I honestly did no work outside of class, studied for exams day b4
Have a very interesting way of teaching as he prefers to be more math related and goes off of knowledge rather than course material on slide presentations.
Ram teaches straight calculus. You better like calc, bc that's all you are going to do. The class consists of only 3 tests and they are 10 questions each. He curves them a bit but you need to make sure you study and memorize the formulas. I went to every SI and it was the best way to get an A in the class. The SI helps make sense of everything.
3 tests only and 10 questions each. tests are hard but curves them. if you mess up on one of them its hard to get a overall good grade.
This is a hard class no matter which professor you take it with, but I am glad that I took it with Ram. He definitely has a different way of teaching! if you are not afraid of calculus then take it with him. Also, GO TO SI! Don't buy the book he NEVER referenced it. Just learn the math and the formulas.
At first you will think "what have I gotten myself into" but listen this guy is HILARIOUS! He's got jokes and stories! I was fully engaged in class even though it was over 3 hours long. The course is entirely math. Just go to class, actively participate, and GO TO SI. He really cares about his students and is passionate about econ! He's AMAZING!
He is hard to understand, and he spends more time talking about how little we are learning in the class than actually teaching. He uses the same example for every new topic so it's hard to differentiate topics. Doesn't teach from powerpoints, and uses his own formulas on the board and on tests so good luck if you mess up your notes.
If you are good in math and can memorized 8 formulas and know when to apply them, then take him. He is so kind, caring and funny. I didnt do well on my first exam and panicked. But he reassured me and the rest of the students that didnt do well, that he would drop the first exam if we do well in the rest. I ended up with an A. Take him!
The worst professor you can ever take. Whatever you do,do not take him. This guy does not care about his students. SUPER RUDE. When taking exams all he does is talk nonsense every 5 minutes(making it hard to concentrate on the exam)His tests are extremely hard and very diff from what he lectures. Doesn't give study guides and PP's are outdated.
He says he reads these so Hi professor Ozrach! Literally the most amazing and understanding professor ever, you should take him! He cares about his student & drops the first quiz if you do bad. It is based on 3 exams that have about 10-15 questions, if you study the material and go to SI you will pass & you will do good. He also curves his exams!
Best econ Professor at OU
Take him. ECN 3030 is hard in itself but he is great at teaching. The class is based on only 3 exams (Multiple Choice). He will drop your first exam if you did bad. ALSO GO TO SI. SI is very helpful for this class. He is very understanding and will help you if you ask. Also, he is HILARIOUS. By far the funniest professor at Oakland.
Professor Orzach is a really good and understanding professor. The class consisted of him doing problems and always asked if there were any questions. The only calculus you need is knowing the exponent rule. 3 exams, each exam had 4-5 actual math problems. Exams are curved, 1st exam grade is replaced if you do better on the final. GO to the SI!!!
The reviews rating him a good professor are not true what so ever. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!! If you want to waste your money and retake the class then by all means go for it. If you want to pass the class and get a good grade take it with a DIFFERENT professor. The class is extremely difficult and he doesn't know how to teach.
TBH i dont know how he is still a professor he literally sucks at teaching. I would never take him again.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Even if he is the only professor teaching the course that semester, wait it out another semester because you will regret taking him. All these positive reviews are lies. He sucks and teaching and will fail you for no reason. His class is only exams and the exams are extremely hard, you will not pass. Do not take him.
I don't see the reason for bad comments. I think this was one of my easiest classes. As long as you attend his lectures and go to SI and work out the problems you should easily pass with an A. If you don't put in the work don't expect that A to just come to you. This class is mostly math-based problems. I say take him especially if it's online.
When Ram pulls up to class with his Trader Joe's bag full of notes, you best believe you're in for an experience. All of his exams get curved and if you do better on the midterm/final, he'll drop the quiz. His current rating is deceptive as this man is a prodigy and an inspiration to all. If you want to really learn Econ, do it with big man Ram :)
Never have left a review because it wasn't worth my time but these ratings make 0 sense. This class is the easiest I have ever taken. If you show up to class and pay attention, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A on his quiz, midterm exam, and final. Ram is hilarious during class. If you want a funny prof and an easy A, take him.
He posts all class material online and makes class optional to avoid meeting with sick students, but attending class is a real treat. You wont do much in class but just the sight of Trader Joes bags full of printed PowerPoint slides will put a smile on your face. SI is very helpful. There are only 3 grades: quiz, midterm, and exam, but he curves.
Ram is a very good professor, he tells you exactly what you need to know in order to pass. This is a class that has an SI, you could literally pass from just going to the SI sessions. Sometimes lectures can be dry, but he gives lots of examples and practice!
His class is a very experienced course for such a minor class it is. I can't tell you where I'm ever gonna use half the stuff I learn in his class. If you don't go to SI sessions you will fail the class. 3 tests weigh your whole grade and he only gives you 45 minutes per test. It's impossible to get 15 mathematical questions done in 45 minutes.
Dr. Orzach, I think means well, but this class is not one he should be teaching. Your entire grade is based on three exams, all of which are poorly written and without clear answers to choose from. While taking this online course I was unable to view ANY of my exams online. I cannot recommend this class to anyone.
I enjoyed having Dr Orzach for Econ. The class is made up of 3 exams with curves and extra credit opportunities. Dr Orzach and the SI explain the exam material very clearly. If you study, attend lectures and SI, then this class should be easy and enjoyable. Dr Orzach if a funny guy and likes to joke during class as well. Would highly recommend
Your grade comes from a quiz, midterm, and final where the lowest grade is dropped. Lectures are pointless and you learn through the SI. Make step by step notes based off SI problems. Absolutely would not take unless you want to stress yourself out. ALL CALC, no simple theories. He uses no book and pulls everything out of his head.
The course is live online, but he directs students to watch the videos he posted on moodle. As he doesn't take attendance, the class is basically asynchronous. Highly advise doing the problem sets from the SI and attending the meetings. It is the most helpful way to prepare for the quiz and exams. Calc material is only power rule derivatives.
Very hard class with hard materials. All of the econ 3030 classes are formatted this way. Go to the SI and you will pass. Graded by two tests and one quiz that is dropped if you do better on the test. One op for extra credit that ain't raise your grade but can take you from D to C
Don't listen to any bad reviews of this guy. He sets you up for success in this course. As long as you go to class and study before the tests, he makes it work in your favor he even curves pretty generously. Having only 3 tests seems wack at first, but if you put in minimal effort you'll pass. Also, funniest professor I've ever had, really wacky
Attend SI and there is no reason you shouldn't ace this class. Mostly just finding simple derivatives and solving simple equations. VERY generous curves!
Love this man, no attendance the only thing that goes into the gradebook is 3 exams. Pass all three exams you pass the class. It's easy, he loves answering questions in lecture his exams are not hard either as long as you review his modules and learn how to do the simple math problems. He's the best.
Professor Orzach is amazing and the class is not hard at all. Go to his lectures, take notes, and attend SI sessions. There should be no issue if you follow the guidelines. Only one quizz, midterm, and final. He is always willing to help if you struggle.Highly recommend!!
Professor Orzach's class is a breeze as long as you attend SI sessions and prepare with Unstuck AI. The grading is generous, and his lectures are engaging. Highly recommend!
Only graded by three tests. No homework or textbook. If you attend class he teaches exactly what's on the tests. One annoying thing is you have to use an online proctor to take the tests. You are taking a PROCTORED test, IN PERSON. It's weird and he's not helpful with technology so if you have an issue you're on your own. Go to SI to help review
Ram was good overall, he was very generous with grading and drops a quiz grade if it doesn't help you. As long as you show up and try and pay attention to lectures, he will guarantee you pass. I showed up every day and got an A even though I got a 50% on the first quiz.
Orzach genuinely cares about his students. His lectures are all equations and that is exactly what exams are too, making it easy. He gives generous curves on each of the three exams that make up your grade. Easy A if you show up to class, do the examples, and take notes. You do need to memorize the equations though, so practice!
Changed his scheduling to make the quizzes from online to in person, making it impossible for me to make it. I was forced to drop his course and needed to beg several professors to let me join their course via late registration permission in order to get back into full time. Maybe it was just this semester but this screwed me over.
I love this silly guy and his accent. And he loves to read his Rate My Professor reviews to his students. Attend class and you will pass. Be aware, he uses YuJa Verity, which is a notoriously terrible proctoring program, but that's the university's choice program.
There was no textbook. He streamlined what we needed to know and kept the problems simple. Our grade was based on a quiz, midterm and final. I completely bombed the quiz. I started using the SI material to practice problems. That was my savior; I was more prepared for the midterm and final. My only advice is to practice, practice, practice!
