He has an accent that is very hard to understand. Also, since he has TA's he does not expect you to ask him for help.

He knows what he says...but he's the only one. And you can't ask him any questions because he'll take off points. The only day I ever learned ANYTHING was when the TA's taught, and then he took over for them too, of course right after Withdrawls. GRR

I had to drop this class because it was so diffucut for me to understand. I would not reccomend taking this class at all.

Though his book is cheap the self authored mess has too many mathematical errors to learn from and no answer key, he forbids tutors and other texts, won't help in or out of class, and retests w/out review. Don't even walk by his classroom door, go around.

He tries to make things clear but it just ends up worst. He doesn't like to be asked questions or give help. The book he wrote is not clear. He doesn't go over everything and I think that he leaves out important subjects that we need to know. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Don't take this class. I have never struggled so much in a math course! He wrote the book and is very limited in his ways to explain things. He just reads his book. He's also hard to understand and doesn't like to answer questions. He is very organized though. If you are taking him, go to the tutor

I took this guy twice and failed both times. I figured since I had already taken him, I would know about his system and feel comfortable with it because its pretty cut and dry. However the guy is a jerk and very weird. dont ask any questions, dont skip his class, and dont rely on his book.

This guy is bad. He barely speaks english and just berates you if your late or ask questions. He has tests weekly He has his own book and answer sheets which are regular pieces of paper. If you fold your paper the wrong way or dont write your student ID # on the paper you lose points on your tests.

He was hard to understand. Book even harder. Tutors cant even help you. If you dont do something on the test the way he taught it you get points off. Do not take him!!!

A perfect example of a professor aloud to teach way too long. He creates his own textbooks (which are riddled with errors he tries to correct right before an exam). Does not provide any out of class assistance. Will take points off if not done EXACTLY like he explained (even if wrong 2 begin with

This is the worst professor I have ever had. He takes off points if you ask questions in class even when it you dont understand how he got to that answer on the board. He takes off points if you do the equation different from his way even if you get the andwer right.

dont bother. teacher is horrible. if your forced to take this class, plan on going to tutoring a lot. thats the only reason i passed. uses precal book which has many many errors. make sure to take notes because the way he teaches how to do something in his book is different the way he wants it done on the test.

This teacher is absolutely horrible. He doesn't care if you understand or pass the class , he makes it impossible to learn anything I would rather get a root canal than take this class ever again.Drop him.

He is the worst professor i have ever had... DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.... math is my best subject and i couldnt even do half the stuff he taught us mainly because he cant speak very good english. and if you asked him a question in class heget very mad so just dont ask. basically i wish i didnt have to go to his class i wish i could just go to the tutoring center and then go to his class for the test. because you dont learn anything in class and he wrote his own book so you cant even try and teach yourslef

Wow. If you like to go to class and stare at the wall, here is your man. You pretty much go to class, get the sections you're doing, then go home and teach yourself for the test. The retests are all right, but don't expect him to answer any of your questions.

HORRIBLE teacher, i'll give an example: last week he set up a problem on the board and after 20 minutes of trying, he couldn't solve it. Then he gave us that problem on our next exam. You go to his office, and he kicks you out. You ask him a question during class, and he stares at you and doesn't answer. And he is stupidly scary too.

His thick accent is not what makes him difficult to understand. It's his consistent use of nonstandard terms. Also, he doesn't wait for answers when he pauses to ask "Ok?" and doesn't seem to care whether students understand or not. I would have been better off (and learned more) using the money for this course to rent "Waterworld" 100 times.

He kicked me out of the lecture everyday for two weeks for going to the bathroom and laughing in class, since math is not funny! The worst book in the world. he will not help with anything. One of the worst teachers ive ever had. He has absolutely no concern for his students, even if they care a great deal about the class. Should not be teaching. Avoid if you can.

His class is a nightmare.I spent countless hours in the tutoring center,study groups and took all the tests and retests.I was still failing.He refused to help outside of class&gave no assignments to help us understand the material.He wrote the textbook&he read it-that was our class session.Taking this course will be a disservice to you and your GPA

Today was my first day and the guy never showed up! After about 20 minutes, most of the students had gotten up and left. A few of us waited the whole time and he still didn't show up!!!! I don't know how hard the class is or if he's a good teacher because I've yet to meet him.

!WARNING! IF the prof writes the book and half the problems are incorrect and the grammar is horrible...well that should tell you something. He is no help outside of class. If you have questions he refers you to his Q&A on BB. The tutors on campus don't understand his concepts and can't help. And the math is above the level for a reg. finite class.

It's not about him - It's about you, your success: 1) The book he writes is indeed, FULL of mistakes. 2) Can't understand him. 3) I got an 89 on my first test and then my grade became a 71 after the restest. From there I just failed out. 4) EXTREMELY RUDE.

Don't do it to yourself. His methods are obscure and he is just overall a horrible teacher. I've always done well in math classes and I've done and understood most of what should have been covered in his class but I still came out with a C. I attended class and everything ... he's just that bad.

He's rude to students, does not speak clear English, makes FREQUENT mistakes, does not allow questions during class, and is completely unwilling to offer any sort of real help. I was told "This is common sense. It's easy" when I went for help. Everything I learned I taught myself using the textbook and a study group of equally desperate classmates.

do NOT take professor rao!! My advisor told me to take this class because its easy but it is NOT! I was always years ahead of my students in math in high school, then took his finite math class my first semester of college and did horrible. The only grades are his tests every few weeks that are very hard. He is very difficult to understand.

He is not a good teacher at all! I love math and have done very well in all of my classes.he is VERY hard to understand.The material he teaches has nothing to do with what you need for Calculus.He wrote his own textbook that does not explain anything.I went to ACE for every test and even they couldn't help me.I'm begging you, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.

He is very knowledgeable in his subject area. Unfortunately he is totally, completely incapable of presenting that information in a productive, engaging manner. He uses his own written book that is a horrible excuse for a textbook. Be prepared to teach yourself, because he sure as pi won't be teaching you anything that is moderately useful. sigh~

I should have believed the hundreds of negative posts here after I registered for his class. He talks to the chalk board, doesn't answer questions, teaches out of the textbook that he wrote himself and has no personality what so ever. Dr. Rao pushed us to but his book which felt like a conflict. In his book he depicts methods to solve problems that are far more complicated than the methods found in a classic math book. If you need to do 3 simple operations to solve a problem why any engineering firm who adopt his method requiring multiple complex steps to reach the same answer.
