Definitely take this man! he is really funny and he gets uncomfortable talking about sex. The tests aren't always easy but he curves them and sometimes will allow notes. I thought I would end up with a C cuz I'm a slacker but I got a B.

He is such a nice man! He'll make you laugh, make you learn a little and give you a good grade as long as you come to class and do the work! It's all easy work and he'll help on anything you don't get. Participate too! He lets everyone talk about whatever they want! Fun class!

Really good teacher- come to class and get the study guide...he pulls questions straight out of it. Super nice and teaches straight from the book.

Just do the reading, and you have nothing to worry about. A few notes during class, the others who posted, probably don't put any effort in it. I got an A just from reading the chapter summaries.

This professor is nice. He has a thick accent. You have tests every day of class. His lectures are not really helpful for the test unless you read the book. His tests are sort of hard because you have to have read the book and listened to his lectures. You can chose to take all the chapter tests or the Final Exam at the end. 1 project.

Good teacher overall..had chapter tests every week..wasnt too bad. i gota B & that was for goin to class, and doing 1 EASSYY prj & failing some of the tests. has an accent..i thot he didnt really know what he was talking about, but turns out, he knows allllot. very smart and efficient and easy. You have chapter tests each day of class. The tests are hard if you do not read the book by yourself. He explains during class, but only briefly. You can choose to take the final if you did bad on the other tests. You have one easy project. He has an accent, but not hard to understand. He is a nice guy and tries to help you out.

Wonderful teacher, let's you use notes sometimes, final exam is retaking the quizzes you did bad on, there is a PowerPoint presentation at the end of semester but rely fun, just pick a good partner, plus psych is totally interesting, so take him!!!

AWESOME teacher! Professor makes subject fun! Class is easy if you show up and pay attention to the lectures. Teacher reviews info directly before taking each quiz. Not necessary to take final if you are happy with your grades up to that point. He is very helpful and takes time to answer any questions you may have.

The proffesor is good. I liked his classes. A lot to study, but interesting. Every lecture a test, but no final if you write all tests. You can make-up tests with him.

He made the subject matter interesting. Brought it to a level all could understand. If you read the chapters and take notes, this is an easy class!

Dowlati is one of my favorite professors at NOVA! His class is really interesting, and he does a great job teaching the material. But if there is one thing you need to know about Dowlati, it's this: READ THE BOOK! His exams are mostly based off of the chapters in the book, so if you don't read them, you won't do well. His lectures simply make the chapters easier to understand! That being said, I would definitely recommend Dowlati to anyone taking PSY!

Took his online class and I had no problem with him at all (SOOO not hard). Tests were easy if you did the reading and he provided a study guide. As an online teacher, he's great on the important stuff. Very prompt response to email, grading didn't take too long - comparatively (couple weeks most). Tools on his site to help with material. Great!

I took PSY 201 and 120 with Dr. Dowlati. He was prompt, simple in nature, extremely intelligent, yet sensitive to personal opinion. He shows great intellect, yet somehow shows a hesitation toward closeness with students. Easy A- one quiz per chapter, get all good quiz grades then there is no final. Got an A in 201 and a B in 120. Very nice prof

I took Dr. Dowlati for psy201 and absolutely loved him. I never opened my book, and got a B. Go to class, choose a good partner for your final project and you will be fine. Trust me I am a slacker student and loved his class. definitely take Dr. Dowlati, he makes his class super funny and interesting.

THis is a behavioral Stats class & it was a little confusing. He likes you to listen to concepts rather than taking notes in class, but some people need notes to learn. Very nice man, & is interesting to listen to. Tests are not easy but not hard. He allows you to have a cheat sheet for tests which is good. Good attendance is req'd.

This is a great professor, the only dislike his that his exam don't always cover what he reviews....MAKE SURE TO READ THE TEXTBOOK...he maynot review everything that's going to be on the test. I would recommend..if you come to class and read you'll get an 'A'

Took the online class and felt that the class was easy to keep up with. The assignments were explained well and study guides were provided for the tests. Do the work and the know the study guide and you will be fine. He also offers multiple extra credit assignments. He really makes it so that you can't go wrong.

I took him for an online class. Make sure you don't fall behind because he gives you a lot of information to study for exams. Weekly assignments are easy to keep up with. I'm sure he is much easier to take in person.

Took online class. Usually one assignment per week. Very straightforward essays...almost no thinking involved. Tests are okay. I barely studied and passed. As long as you keep up it should be no problem to get an A.

Amazing teacher. Always had me laughing, was constantly engaged in hi teachings and interested in his connections to real life situations. Taking him again currently.

IF you like easy extra credit, then this is the class, 10 points just for taking your test a week before it is due, as well as 10 points if you fill out a survey and another 10 points if you get someone else to fill out the survey. Other than that, the class was interesting and easy to study for exams.

Great Class! He has 9 quizzes, one for each chapter, and a group project due at the end of the semester. Each quiz is 20 questions long. For this class you should also read the book, and get familiar with keybold words in each chapter. Attendance is Highly Highly recommended, though not mandatory.

He's a really good teacher to have, really loves what he teaches, gets off topic but pertains to the subject. no homework. Quick 20 questions test- a little tricky. very funny, and interesting. Always happy! :) Definitely recommend hime

Prof Dowlati is great! I highly recommend him. He is very nice and funny! He assigns chapter tests and then you have a project that's graded as your final (30%). If you take his class, tests are by the book, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU READ THE CHAPTERS!! I took him for Psych 201 and 202, and I wish I could take him for more classes.

The professor is really good i took him for several classes over the last 3 semesters. if you read and take the time to listen in class you should get at least a B. There is one group project that is 30% of your grade it isnt really hard just pick people who will do the work to pass.

I took this class online, hence mode of communication was via BB or email. He always replies to emailsBB and gives explanations to clarify Issues. Take his class. he is flexible too. But do not be late with assignments or you loose points.

Dr. Dowlati was a great teacher. He gives good feedback after every assignment. The tests are tough, you will have to study, but as long as you do the study guide you will be fine. There is also an extra credit assignment opportunity after every test, which helps your grade. I plan to take him for PSY 213 too. Good Luck!

He is a very nice teacher I enjoyed his class and his humor. Chapters are long but he always reviews test before taking them.

He's a great intro psych professor. No final. You have a chapter test every week, but he lets you retake two of them at the end of the semester. The final project is a group effort, so it's easy. His accent isn't hard to understand, and you don't really need to go to lecture to do well, unless there's a test. Do the reading and you'll get an A.

He is one of the best psychology professors. He doesn't give huge exams but little chapter quizzes to, get ready to read! Come to class everyday and you get to re-take two of the lowest quizzes. He is a very nice guy and will help whenever needed

Classes were clear and test requirements were easy to understand. It would be hard to get less than an A - if you did your work.

Prof Dowlati is a pretty good teacher. While he isn't very good at email, his class is extremely straightforward. One assignment due every sunday, 4 tests, one group project. pretty simple. As long as you do the work on time and put in a little effort, you'll do fine.

I took the online 8-week course which was fairly simple. The tests are not hard at all and he provides you with the study guide for the tests . Do the study guide, pass the test. He provides extra credit throughout the semester. There is a paper due per week. Put some thought into the paper and you will get the points.

Hes really knowledgeable about psych and hes nice, but I found his lectures to be a bit boring. Theyre quizzes on each ch which you wont do well on if you just listen/take notes on the lecture. You have to read/take notes on the text too. His lectures were just an overview of the text, which is why I found them so boring. Hes not bad though

So helpful, really cares for his students to pass.

Good Professor. Not a very hard class but it relies heavily on quizzes so do well on those and you will be fine. I managed not to open up my textbook but this was for a very fastpaced summer course so the longer the course the more you may have to use the book. His lecture slides cover the material you need to know for the quiz

This class was the easiest class I have taken at NOVA so far. I know there were people who got C's and D's but they probably didn't read the textbook chapters. All the answers from the quizzes are in the textbook. Prof. Dowlati is hilarious, I loved this class! There are chapter quizzes every week and a group research project.

Professor Dowlati was a wonderful professor, and the class was very interesting. The classwork wasn't too difficult, and we had plenty of time to complete assignments each week. The professor gave clear and quality feedback, and graded our assignments in a timely manner. I 100% recommend taking this class, as well as this professor!

He's a special kind of professor. Very insightful and nuanced. His class structure is weird but by no means work heavy. He doesn't give great study guides or ever slideshow presentations. He'll mostly talk the class in a personal way that provokes understanding rather than relying on a screen to explain things. But he's cool and gives easy material
