He gets really excited about religion.....he'll keep you awake in the lectures. All of his tests are taken from the notes.....don't bother reading the bike, just memorize class notes and study guide sheets and REL 150 is an easy A.
Exams are all essay from the notes and readings. He's teaches a good class, don't have to try too hard to stay awake. Tells a lot of intersting stories. Fair grader.
very fair grader... very passionate and knowledgable about virtually all religions... keeps students involved in class lectures, tells amazing life stories relevant to the subject matter... makes lectures very interesting, enthusiastic. open-minded.

Very enthusiastic teacher. Tests seem simple, but some TAs are hard graders.
Awesome Professor!!!! If you haven't taken a class with him then your definitely missing out!!!!
very interesting. He doens't use any biased opinions about a particular religion.
great prof. the aim is to get you to critcally think for yourself w/ the info presented. both sides are researched and discussed. he never gives you his opinions, to try and tell you waht to think. only to challenge your beliefs coming in. you won't leave the same.
I loved this class and sat front row everyday.

Simple class, keeps subject matter lively, fair teacher. Overall, great professor :)
Fun class..

Prof Lamb is an EXCELLENT teacher. He manages to keep his classes interesting, is fair, and if you put in the work will repay you with a good grade. He is one of my favorite teachers. No yawning in this class!!
Professor Lamb is a really awesome teacher. he keeps the students busy throughout the whole period, and he makes it interesting.

easy class prof keeps you interested.. time flies by and before you know it, class is over. tests are simple and straight to the point. it's an easy grade and interesting!
This is an absolutely fascinating class, exploring he hottest issues in society/politics/religion today. Ramdas' style of facilitation and assigning students to lead the class not only pushes us to move beyond our comfort zone but gives us a forum to exchange viewpoints and beliefs. I highly recommend this class.
one of the best teachers at this school. he is totally awesome
This guy was a riot. He covers all the religions from both the pos and neg sides. I never knew what religious group he was from because he didnt express any favoritism for one rel or the other. His exams were not hard but you still had to study a little bit. I would recommend attending lectures since all material will come from them. He is funny to listen to and makes the class worth attending...I remember our first day- he asked what do you think god looks like. one reply-Alanis Morsette & he laughed!
I learned so much....I dreaded an oral class but he made class fun. As long as you read the material and could support your decision, class is not difficult. I became so aware of some of the controversies and learned a lot of what we were not being told.
Really Interesting, best storyteller and has changed my outlook on a lot of things!
Hes a really good teacher. Hes been everywhere and has tons of great stories. Overall A++
What more else can I say? He's cool...however, if you are a fan of going through relgions in a timeline format, this class is not for you.

Pre-made outline for students to get. No homework. (4)Exams are fill-ins, matching & 4-5 short answer define term. The only work you do is to listen/take notes in lectures which is very interesting. He knows how to relate and has years of hands on expirence, passionate, laid back and always ask if anyone has questions. Very good intro class!
you really don't need to buy the text book as long as you go to class and take notes (and study the notes). interesting guy, very worldly
He's a really cool teacher, very nice and knows his stuff. His tests are purely memorization so be in for a lot of studying.. over all a good teacher!
Very brilliant man and presents the material well. I learned SO much! If you go to every class (remember this IS college) and take notes using your outline, you'll do great on the exams. Don't buy the book -any questions on the defenitions can be found in wikipedia.com. Go to study sessions before the exam. Can't wait to take him for another class.
great lecturer, tells interesting personal experience stories. very helpful outside of class. attend the pre-test reviews.
Boring lectures but not a difficult class.
Very enthusiastic, knows what he's talking about. The tests are EXTREMELY easy. All you have to do is study the vocabulary words at the end of each section. Its as simple as that. Very open minded, not biased at all.
Need the Study Notes, but don't bother buying the text book at all. You can google or wikipedia all of the terms you need for exams, but you should show up to class anyway for hints, and pop quizzes.
This guy is good. This class is all about about how much you can take on - if you can what the major religions entirely expose, which is something i have never been exposed to coming from public education. Very interesting, take if you can. Very eye-opening.
he was a good teacher
For each midterm you have to learn some words and that's it. There is no final and it is not mandatory to go to class but it is better because of pop-quizes and hints for tests. And besides that his class is interesting because he has a lot of funny stories and experiences (from India, Iran,...).
Take this class! bottom line, this course will open your eyes to soo many things. the class discussions really encourage students to think critically in ways that no other class does (no other one that i've ever taken at least, and im already a senior!) u will not be disappointed..its also an easy W class.
he has a semi mullet. pretty fun class. no use of the textbook at all. funny teacher, but sit in the front of class because the speaking system isn't that great. 3 midterm and 1 final. the final is super short, maybe like 10 minutes max. grades pretty easy; if half the class gets an A, everyone will get an A.
This guy is a good teacher. He is interesting and his tests aren't too tough. One of the few classes I've ever looked forward to going to.
Save money - don't buy the textbook!
I took both the religion 150 class and ethics, politics and religion class. Both were really good. Rel 150 was one of my favorite classes because the professor has so much experience and stories. The ethics class really makes you think.
Good professor. No papers to write. Just exams. Textbook not necessary. Just show up to all classes. The TA's are very helpful.
take his class! i would take 26358992 more classes by him... he's very clear and tells great stories. for REL 150, the TA's were very helpful, and the tests were easy. little to no work, and no need to buy the textbook
Fun class. He is Hilarious
Absolutely the best professor I have ever had. I started with 150 just because it filled a requirement, and he inspired me so much that I have added Religion as one of my majors. Extraordinary lecturer, encourages individual growth, helpful and understanding. Take his classes, he will engage you like no other professor ever has!
Ramdas Lamb... This class was boring... it was occasionally entertaining. This exams are usually not too bad, but you DO have to study... I got a C though... he grades on like a stupid bell curve you guys should consider Segal.. or whatever that guy's name is... he is a LOT more fun AND he makes it easier to understand
He knows his stuff, he's very loud and has good stories. The TA's were very helpful, but you really didn't need help because it was so easy. NO HOMEWORK, and exams were easy. I don't see how anyone could fail this class.
i would recommend any class taught by him. he has interesting stories to go with all the concepts he's teaching, and i love that he really knows what hes talking about. the class is pretty easy too, no homework, just study for his tests.
I really think he's a great professor. He's passionate and knowledgable about the topics and he has an enthusiasm to the way he presents things. I never used the textbook and I've been doing really well on the exams. If you get the notes at lecture everyday, studying the terms are really simple. Easy class and you learn a lot.
Easy and this guy knows the material. Just go to class, take notes, go to a study session... It's so easy to pass if you put some effort into it. YOU DON'T NEED TO GET THE TEXTBOOK :)
He's pretty awesomeee, funny guy. you don't really need to show up to class. The TAs hold study sessions a week or so before the exam. Just buy the study guide, not the book[:
This professor was the best professor I've had so far. He's really funny and he knows his material. His exams are really easy as long as you study the terms he gives you. I would defintely take another class from him!
He is an awesome teacher, he knows what he talks about. you do not have to go to class most of time. There are 4 exams which are hard, but if you can read the textbook in respect to the study guideline, you will be fine.
Awesome teacher. Really passionate and interesting. Tests are SUPER easy, final was the easiest, gives you all the words to study and everything on the test, all notes are available for purchase at the UH bookstore. Interesting class, easy A.
Lamb is a really chill teacher. he is straight forward and gives good examples about the subject he is teaching. attendance isn't required but you learn a lot by just going to class. you can basically listen to him rather than reading the book to know whats going to b on the test.
I have learned more about myself in this class than I ever have in my life. This professor changed my life and my way of thinking he really opened my eyes. Easier class, go to class, you'll learn A TON! Funny guy, don't buy the text book, just his noteboook he made for the class. Can't wait to take another class with him next semester.
I love this teacher!...He's so nice and We never use our books...The book is just for more understanding. All you need to know is the words...and the people. Fill in the blanks tests and no multiple choice.
Lamb is a funny guy at times, but what matters is that he makes his lectures so that students can learn better. He is serious about the subject but not mean. Lamb is also laid back and is willing to talk to any of his students whether for help or just to talk story, and great at answering ?'s anyone may have. I greatly recommend Lamb!
ramdas is a cool professor, he makes class interesting and really opens your mind to think. you cant be afraid to talk because he will call on you every class randomly to speak about the readings. but its easy. he grades a little harder than he should in my opinion, but its a good class and wipes out the E & O requirements.
Professor Lamb was an okay guy. He doesn't always go over concepts clearly, and sometimes skips important terms for an exam. If you are Christian I would recommend NOT taking him because of his obvious bias against Christianity. He was very impartial to the Eastern religions, but when we got to the West, he was always spewing negative comments.
Ramdas is a cool professor. However although he says he wants you to open your mind. He means open it to his beliefs and close it to all others. He's obviously biased about many things. He doesn't grade like he says he is. You basically will get a good vrade if you write wat he wants to hear. Loads of readings. But not a hard class. Overall interes
Super easy class, you literally show up and sit in the front then before every test go to the study session and study for two hours afterwards. Prof. Lamb is super chill and a great teacher- makes class interesting and easy to comprehend. Funny cause some people don't like their beliefs to be quesetioned, they are the ones who hate it
This class is very easy if you attend class everyday and take notes. He's very animated and his lectures aren't boring to listen to. I recommend taking his class!
He is not an easy teacher...you are expected to read the material and come ready to lead the discussion at a moment's notice. But if you want a class that involves critical thinking this is an awesome course. He has some of the most interesting and valuable stories I've ever heard coming form a teacher. Fascinating guy, great class.
Not an easy teacher. His tests really test your knowledge to its limit. However, if you show up for class, listen, and study, you'll get a good grade?along with lots of fascinating and valuable stories, and a few good laughs. Probably the most interesting and inspiring professor I've ever taken a class from. But come prepared to learn.
Ramdas Lamb is an interesting and intriguing professor. The course is very structured and it's easy to come back to it if you miss any classes. The stories that he has, both the personal ones and the ones that he's picked up on his travels keeps your interests and the exams are pretty chill. I'd highly recommend
Professor Ramdas is great, his lectures are clear, he is very enthusiastic about every topic, and also very knowledgeable. He can teach the class without any religious bias, very open minded, he presents the topic in a sort of "peace promoting" approach. Learned a lot and really enjoyed the class! Take it!
Class is hard to comprehend if you do not have an open mind on different religions. Lamb is somewhat a good teacher, however it is hard to understand when he is rambling about the subject.
Professor Lamb is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very interesting and makes the lectures really fun. One of the first classes I actually liked to go to. As long as you go to lectures you will get an A. I highly recommend him!
Best Professor ever. Just go to class and he defines vocab during lecture. No hw just 3 tests and the tests are only on vocab words. Extra credit attendance quizzes, so its important to go to class, and lectures aren't too boring either.
A good teacher, he trys to help you when you need it, all you have to do is ask. THere are 3 tests that make up your grade and extra credit at random times he feels like it. You have to be in class though. I think its pretty dumb that the answers for the word list he asks you to study isnt in the book he requires you to buy. Neither in his lectures
The class was structured in a round robin talk style, and it covered interesting and educational topics. However the professor is stubborn, often times unknowledgeable, and unethical (he does not argue both sides of an argument only one side). I was very disappointed in the class. Take it if you want an E and O and if you want to complain later...
Really rude teacher. A student wanted a word clarified and he just replied with "I already covered that long time ago". Mumbles a lot so students in the back can't hear. Stories are really boring and doesn't get to the point. He just sits on the table and rambles on. Take another religion teacher.
He likes to mumble a lot in lecture so it's hard to hear at times. He adds a lot of unnecessary fluff to his boring lectures. As long as you drag yourself to lecture, it's an easy A.
He is a really good professor who loves to help his students outside of class. He is slightly bias against Christianity, but as long as you can recognize that and get past it what he has to say is fairly accurate and interesting. If you put in the time to study, you will get A' s on his exams. Just take good notes and listen.
This class gives you a nice background of the major world religions, and why they have become what they are today. As such, it's really interesting. All of the three exams (Fall2011) are based off of a vocabulary list, which is covered in class. Not mandatory to attend, but you'll miss a ton if you do. He also speaks pretty fast and in great detail
He wears his microphone a bit low. Just ask him to clip it higher. Also, if you have a friend, save your money and share one for REL 150.
I thought he was an okay professor, but in my opinion, the class might be hard for people who don't have an interest in religion, like me. Exams consist of a rather large list of vocab and some definitions. Lectures are mostly given verbally so you need to listen carefully and take good notes. He does have some good and entertaining stories.
Professor Lamb is okay but he rambles on a lot. He doesn't really use the book so save your money and don't buy the book. Sometimes it's hard to hear him especially at the end of his sentences. If you're someone who gets bored easily, don't take Religion 150 from him
Great, easy class, just gotta tell him to speak into the mic.
If you're able to get into this class consider yourself lucky! This is going to be a fun challenging ride.
Lecture-based class, attendance mandatory - information given verbally, not much of a visual presentation. Book is necessary (covers key concepts, good for studying), exams are based on vocabulary learned throughout the semester. Offers in-class extra credit quizzes frequently. Open to questions during and/or after class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Straight A student until this class and received a C in it. He makes everything difficult to understand.
I've taken two classes (REL 100 & 348) from Dr. Lamb, and both of them were excellent. He is one of the few teachers I've had that really gets you to critically think and question the presented material. Be warned, the topics discussed are touchy subjects, but that's the whole point. I highly recommend either class regardless of one's major.
The most amazing teacher at UH. He will change your world and change the way you look at it. If you get into this class (you may not because it fills up FAST) then consider yourself extremely lucky.
Ramdas for president! ... Best teacher at UH.
I literally dread going to this class. I can never understand him and then when he asks for questions I'm stuck like... I have nothing to ask cause I don't know what you just went over. I am so lost. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE FROM HIM.
Find a friend and share the book with all the notes.Exams are based on the word list in the book. Study the definitions and you should be good.He gives out information verbally so attendance is not required but strong recommended. He also gives out pop quizzes randomly. Had no interest in religion prior to this class, but now i enjoy coming everyday
Tells stories not much distinct fact. Could learn more researching on my own.
Best professor and class I've had in college, without a doubt. Cannot say enough good things. If I could take the class again, I would.
Amazing guy. Tells great stores, is very engaging, and really gets you to think about issues critically.
Prof. Lamb is very intelligent and is touch with many of the issues of today. He will challenge every student to think critically and to form an opinion based on actual evidence. If you want to know the truth about life, take this course. Your eyes will be opened and you will gain a greater understanding of life and people.
This guy is cool and he's a great teacher. He's very knowledgeable and is willing to answer any questions and hear about others view points. I'd recommend him.
Changed my life! T still think about his class 10 years later.
This was the best class I ever took in college. Professor Lamb will challenge you to think critically about current social issues. Not only will you leave each class knowing more about an issue, but knowing where you stand on it and why. He teaches you to defend your views and opinions about issues by asking you "why". NO TEXTBOOK, just articles.
Ramdas Lamb was a great professor. He knew how to challenge the way students think. He is one who highly emphasizes consistency and may influence you to question what you believe. I think anyone and everyone should take this class no matter your background. I would highly, highly recommend you to take his REL348 class!!
I absolutely RESPECT this professor. He is definitely there for the students, regardless if it's for religion or not. He makes sure to keep an even scale on all religions, and treats everything equally. He also makes you think about what you should believe about life. Definitely my most favorite class of this semester. Worth your time.
Took REL150 with Prof. Lamb and I deeply regret it. His lectures are super long and boring. Most of the time, his microphone isn't working so students have to remind him to speak louder. No textbook is needed. There are 2 midterms and 1 finals; easy if you study. He gives extra pop-quizzes to those who show up to lecture since it is not mandatory.
Tests are entirely based on terms from the flimsy textbook. I would just leech off a friend for the terms and save your $12 or whatever. To define them you have to show up to class but you can use Google. I received a poor grade because I didn't want to go to class or study and was able to pass so the curve must have been really low and saved me.
Professor Lamb is amazing. Lectures elaborate on textbook (he wrote it). Lectures are interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory, but go anyways; participation on TopHat (app) can boost almost a letter grade up. Great teacher, would take again. Learned a lot. Go to class (extra credit), study keywords in textbook, and you'll pass (guaranteed A or B).
Ramdas is hilarious, friendly, and savage! His class was lecture-heavy but he keeps it interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but how do you expect to pass a class if you don't show up? No homework, 3 exams, extra credit (just for showing up!!) Exams are based off key words in the text book. Study those and you'll pass with flying colors.
I had Professor Lamb 10 years ago and took him for every class I could. Fantastic lectures- I never wanted to miss a class.
Learning about Hindi, Islam, & Hebrew religions was so interesting! But the last quarter of the semester was listening to lectures about how Christianity was wrong & contradicted itself. It was not fair to the students that Lamb's hate of Christianity clouded his lectures & prevented students from expanding their knowledge.
I literally skip this class all the time but to pass the tests I just go to the TA's and they fill me in on the important terms I need to know for the test that I can't just google. Also if you skip like me, just check course key before every class period for attendance. That's what I do and I receive the extra credit.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS. Your grade pretty much is based on attendance and 3 tests throughout the semester. He pretty much throws 60-70 words at you and tells you to know them. You are tested on those words, and are expected to know at least a paragraph about each one. His definitions of the words are very specific and different Than google.
Has 3 tests and bases them off of more or less 70 term and only has like 30 of them on the actual test. Barely goes over the terms in class, gotta really listen for those term, most of the times I wasn't sure what to take notes on. Had to buy his binder book but it was missing a lot of pages and the content that he had on the screen was different.
It was amazing to have a professor that taught real history. It's unfortunate that most professors these days are terribly bias. Props to you Prof Lamb!
Created his own "textbook" that comes with no definitions, just a list of words. You are expected to not only memorize all of the words in the textbook but also memorize the definitions that he only says VERBALLY, never written. Miss the class were he defines a word? too bad. Don't have a complete understanding of the religion? FAIL.
Best teacher I've ever had. He is so genuine and and enthusiastic. Every time I walked out of his class I felt enlightened. His teaching gave me a completely different perspective on life. This was definitely my favorite course I've taken as a student.
Only grades 3 exams. Does not post grades anywhere, so you're in for a surprise on your transcript! He comes off as a super chill professor, but don't think you don't have to study for the exam.
This class relies on three tests that aren't hard, but can get confusing. The teacher assistants really helped since I sometime skipped classes and they provided all the necessary information for the upcoming tests. If you don't plan to get help from TAs, make sure to use quizlet or take notes in front of the class with a laptop to study easier.
Engaging, interesting lectures. Great professor overall. Difficult class though, get ready to take notes and study hard.
Ramdas has a very unusual teaching style because he has 3 tests in the semester and that is your full grade. All the information is presented in lectures and he always tells interesting stories during the lectures, this is one of the only classes that can keep me at least mostly engaged on the material.
You can just skip class and go to the TA help session to get all the definitions lol.
Professor Lamb is great! It's an extremely lecture heavy class, but it's in a fun and interesting way. I never found myself hating listening to him like some other teachers. Make sure to go to class every day because Lamb will go over definitions of words you will need to know for the tests, and there are also many pop quizzes. Great class!
NO HOMEWORK. Professor Ramdas has such an interesting lecture style. He gives your definitions based on stories so pay attention. Your grade is based off of 3 exams; match the words from a word bank (all words givens, but not all used), define 4-5 words in at least 35 words. Sounds easy but the words and definitions aren't intuitive. STUDY!
Lectures are very interesting. Most of the time, class was not boring. He always had really fun stories. doesnt post grades at all, only graded on tests and pop quizzes. it is all fill in the blank with about 30 or more words in the word bank. it's not just the definition you learn but also the concept. go to study sessions.
Terrible experience in this class. Created his own textbook with like 400 words and no definitions. Everything is said verbally and he never writes anything down and his stories are so boring. I found it really hard to learn during this class, dropped it. Exams are tough because he defines things his own way. Stay away if you visually learn.
I'm not sure how this instructor has received so much respect in previous reviews. As a senior that is about to graduate, this was the worst class that I have ever taken. Especially after switching to an online class, it was like he didn't know how or was just too lazy to teach the class in a constructive manner. No real lectures, just recordings.
THIS MANS will tell incredible stories about life and you will listen and somehow learn. there is no "textbook" but he prints out his notes and expects you to take more notes on them from his lectures. really really caring. class is pretty easy too, just memorize some vocab words. def take this guy if you have a chance, fun class easy A
Ramdas always gives amazing insight on the religious traditions we studied, but he always tied it back to real life applications and gave wonderful advice to his students on how we can become better individuals and hopefully we can aim to become a better world as a whole. He also shares a lot of great personal experiences that he has gone through!
Prof Lamb has amazing lectures and goes into detail about the different aspects of various religions. The outline/book you have to buy is basically the powerpoint slides. There are 3 (maybe 4?)exams, no homework, packback questions, and recorded lectures. He is often a few minutes late to class and goes over time by 5-15 minutes.
Lectures started off difficult due to the COVID situation but got better over time. He is very knowledgeable and his lectures were interesting. Grades are based on exams and weekly Packback questions. He wants the best for his students and it shows. Need to attend class to take notes and catch HIS definitions of words on the word list for exams.
He gives great lectures that are quite interesting to listen to, but make sure to take notes! Your grade is based on 3 exams and a small part is on packback. The exams go over how well you know the vocab, so make sure you understand the vocab before the exams.
Ramdas has a multitude of knowledge and wisdom to share, which helps students think about how the central themes apply to their own lives. He is quite frank about what he thinks about subject matters, but his overall intention is to challenge his students to dissect their comfortable ways of thinking. He means well and wants us to cultivate depth.
Professor Lamb is awesome! The man is a well of practical wisdom and knowledge. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and their wellbeing. Your beliefs will be challenged in this class by him, and he will make you think HARD, but in a good way
REL150 BEWARE! NOT BEGINNER-FRIENDLY! The class grading is based on three tests. There is a textbook, but it almost has no content in it (it's basically just an outline). You have to obtain all the information by lectures alone. During the lectures, no extra content on slides just shows textbook. Gets annoyed easily if you ask too many questions.
This class is only graded by 3 exams but 60% is passing. The "textbook" is a notes outline with vocab words and you fill in the definitions. ALL information comes from the lectures. He doesn't post the recorded lectures so if you miss one class you will likely fail or be far behind and confused. The class is extremely hard but not impossible...
No class/homework. Your only grades are based off of the tests and there's like 3 total. He has TA's who help answer student questions. 99% of the info for the tests comes from the zoom lectures so if you miss the lectures you will fall behind. You have to take a lot of notes on vocab words to prepare for the tests. Honestly a nice guy overall.
I always look forward to going to the lectures as he makes learning about the various religions and history relatively simple but really fun and interesting so that it sticks with you. He doesn't mind when you ask questions and it normally leads to more interesting discussions. You can tell he's really qualified and passionate--please take him :)!!
REL 150 with Professor Lamb consists of 3 exams for your entire grade. The class uses a self-made textbook by the professor which has all your terms and word lists. The class is VERY lecture-heavy. No homework but you SHOULD go to class for crucial information on what's on the exams. Sometimes, he does not clearly define terms, making it harder.
He is a great professor. Out of all the professor I've met, I could tell he was really passionate about his course and teachings. Don't be afraid to ask questions and make sure you study the material before the tests because the exams are the only grade you'll get in class. (3 exams)
He's nice and he knows certain areas of religion quite well. His class is lectures only and 3 tests total. no homework. He is not very clear about what you need to know. If you're looking for a professor that tells you directly what something is, don't take this guy. I recommend a lot of self study after class or on weekends. can't rely on lectures
Really cool guy, but the way he taught was not helpful in learning the material. Class only graded by 3 tests including final, failed 2 of them despite hours of studying the material given. Friend who got an A in the class said she had to research outside of class to do well on the tests despite professor saying he provided all necessary material.
The entire grade is based on 3 exams. Lectures aren't engaging & very boring with an INSANE amount of bias against Christianity & especially Islam. If you are anti-genocide, respect int'l law, or simply have an opinion, then I don't recommend taking this course. I gained nothing out of this & I absolutely would not take any of his other courses.
Professor Lamb is very knowledgeable about what he teaches. This however causes him to go off-track and go on tangents that are no help when it comes to doing well on the exams. There is a course reader that has a word list with everything you need to know for exams. Exams are easy if you go to TA review sessions and look at premade quizlets
I would not take this class if you know nothing about Buddhism, Confucianism, hinduism religions. Took for an easy A and no homework, BAD DECISION.Professor mumbles words and goes on tangents unrelated to exam. Word bank after each section but no clear definitions nor any guidance on how exam is going to go,would only take if religion is your thing
Prof. Lamb's REL150 class is challenging, but engaging if you put in the effort. The lectures can be dry, but he's knowledgeable. The course relies heavily on 3 exams - study the vocab and lecture notes thoroughly. Unstuck ai was super helpful for my test prep.
Professor Lamb is an amazing professor I took his class REL150 and have never enjoyed a class more. In his book, he has three units with the words he will quiz you on at the end of the unit pages: THIS IS YOUR GUIDE FOR THE SEMESTER. Write the words for the unit BEFORE the class and pay attention as he gives you the information you need.
Amazing class that teaches you to challenge yourself and think outside the box of things you have been told. Loved all the topics and had many topics that changed my perspectives on life.
The class centered around discussions, so you're required to do hours of reading and listening to material he provides. The discussions were very engaging and thought-provoking. Ramdas is fair in his grading and most of your grade comes from participation. He voices his own opinion about topics at times, but facilitates an open-minded environment.
He is very myopic in his views, if you try to challenge him he tries to make you look like a fool by using what you said and blowing it up to astronomical proportions. For example, he could say "red is the best color ever" you'd respond "I disagree" and he'd respond back "so you think everyone who likes red should explode?!" No nuance whatsoever.
This class was amazing and I have taken many classes from Ramdas. He challenges students to not be close minded and open up their perspectives to different point of views. This class is a oral learning environment where people share and give thoughts on topics. He uses a lot of personal experiences to try and give examples of the topics discussed.
Funny guy, but sometimes goes on complete tangents when it comes to his lectures. Makes class easier by separating the key terms on one page of the textbook (heavily recommend buying). SHOULD Attend the study sessions held by the TAs because they help clarify everything for you and let you know what they're looking for in terms of grading.
His teachings itself are decently engaging. It is hard to pay attention when he drones on about some random little tangent. He is incredibly anti islam and a zio so be ready to be taught in that framework. He doesn't appreciate his views being challenged but expects everyone else to wrap around his framework.
