This man can't teach. He is AWFUL. The class is a waste of time.
He sells you his notes, and then just reads them to you in front of the class.
He sucks as a human

he-ah, doesnt speak-ah ...how do you say...english-ah.. understandbly-ah.
DONT TAKE HIM! HE SUCKS!
This man makes me want to drop out of school.
Unclear, boring. Got an A and B+, with lots of studying. Buy the notes, don't go to lecture.
All things considered, he is actually a good teacher. He has an accent, but you can understand the guy.

quite simply, he's a bloody paki. he isn't understandable. i can read to the class for an hour and twenty minutes with foam coming out the corners of my mouth, as well
He sells his notes and then reads them to you. Pointless going to class if you have notes.

Hard teacher. Barley speaks English. Nice guy though
he was a nice man and a fair grader but he was not a very effective teacher...i didn't learn anything , but chemistry itself sucks, too. his foaming at the mouth was really, really gross.

If you..um..take 101 millimeters..um..of hyDROgen, and um..you mix it..um..with 320 millimeters of um..oxYgen....
this is a tough course! Nice guy, but I get the feeling that they want to use the course to winnow out the non-chemists rather than to TEACH chemistry to those that need it to graduate. I had a 3.9 GPA before this course, but not now....

If you have his lecture notes, then there really is not point in going to class. I thought his notes were really clear and easy to follow. His lectures were dry, but he was very helpful and was better able to explain stuff at his office hours.
Terrible don't take this guy if you can avoid it find someone else or somewhere else to take chemistry
Horrible teacher. His notes explain the concepts pretty clearly, but since the exams are all problems, it's not that helpful. The best way to do well in this class is to do the practice problems and pray for a good TA.
to say he's boring is an understatement. unfortunately i had to have him for chem 161 ans 162. never went to class because lectures are pointless, puts you to sleep like a nice sleeping pill. hes not a mean guy, but impossible to stay awake through.
Comared to chem. 160...this ma was a god send. He gives you all the notes he's apporachable and his exams are challenging but reasonable.
very very very boring guy, and notes dont really help b/c all the exams are problems. Exams are insanely hard. hes a smart guy but not a good professor.
Another middle eastern that you cant understand.

Time to retire Agarwal!
very very boring lectures, look at half the class and they are asleep. Gives you the notes so don't go to the whole lecture, show up for the last 10 min. to make sure there isn't a lecture quiz, do the homework problems, practice exams, extra help if nee
The man just can't teach. That's all there is to it. All he does is read his notes off the overhead. Completely unclear, and rude.
This guy just sells his notes and preaches them on the overhead in class. He put's you right to sleep. If you really really study the book and go to every lecture and don't fall asleep, you can pull a b or b+...p.s. rude guy but smart

boring
I would not recommend him to anyone. didnt learn much, very boring. could do a heck of a lot better.
This teacher is the worst in all Rutgers...He cannot teach for his life, he tells you to do the HW problems and practice exams, but they still don't help because his exams are totally different...Do yourself a favor and don't take any of his classes...
HORRIBLE CLASS!! CANT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!! HE PUTS EVERYONE TO SLEEP!! AND YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP FOR CLASS BECAUSE HE GIVES POP QUIZES.....THE WORST CLASS EVER!!!!!

Forget it man, this class is not a joke even honors chemistry is better. He just making his money by selling his notes and exam papers its all about the loot. Yet, he's helpful but when exams come forget it mann. Very smart, must done his schoolin away.
His English is a little shakey, but he gives you all his notes. It was a good nap time...Both Semesters....
DONT BUY THE PRACTICE EXAMS, well just dont rely on them. He's good in office hrs...EXTREMELY HARD!!!!AVOID BY ALL MEANS!!
He is definitely not as bad as some of the people below have rate him to be. They just must be really dumb. He might not be easy in class but if you read his notes and do all of the practice exams and do all the hw as assigned then you are bound to get A
As long as you read the book and do the practice tests you'll be find. Don't bother buying the notes they don't help much at all. He is kind of boring...you don't really need to go to class to do well....i got an A :)
This teacher is horrible. He knows his stuff, but he could not teach in lecture. Don't bother going to lecture. This is more like a self-taught class.
Although at 1st its hard to understand his accent which is constantly interrupted by uhs, he's not bad. he has the best notes which r easy to understand&his tests, quizzes&even exams r the easiest compared to Boikess's or Kimmel's. ask anyone who took chem
stay the f*** away from this guy. another foreigner with bad english teaching a class where you need to understand him. why in the hell do schools hire freaks like this!!! watch the sides of his mouth when he talks...
i know everybody complains about his english, but he is a good teacher. he gives u the notes and his exams are easy. if u do the hw, ull get a good grade. I would recommend him over any other chem professor.
Go to class! The class will be difficult if you find no interest in the material (a given for any science). He speaks slowly but be patient, you need to go to class in order to understand his notes. Sample exams are very helpful. Easy with help and effort
Though glimmers of a nice, intelligent, and faintly comedic (he warns the first day of class "I am not an entertainer") man do occasionally show through, these qualities are very much overshadowed by the monotonous tone of his voice. ZZZZZZZZ
The most boringest class of my life
He is pretty boring and has a monotone voice, but the class truly isn't difficult. I got an A in both 1&2, and I took 2 over the summer. His lecture notes are helpful, and you can easily pass all the exams by practicing with the sample exams.
extremely boring but his notes are very well written. if you can't do chemistry read his notes. they can help. practice exams are good to.
UUUUHHHHH, that's all I have to say
ASS WHO CANT TEACH OR SPEAK ENGLISH
He is the ultimate ass of asses. He will not, I repeat make any exception for anyone. He has a nice side and a mean side. Stay on the nice side. DO NOT make noise or walk out on him. Very helpful in office hours. Best chem teacher I have ever had. If you seriously wanna learn chem 2, he is your guy.
This teacher is hands down the worst teacher on earth. he can't talk and can't teach. he teaches straight out of the book and can't even do that well. take this class only if you need to fail. word of advice if you still think u can get n A in this class. YOU CAN'T.at least not with him as a teacher
He is the worst teacher at Rutgers. He reads directly from his notes, which are very sloppy. He still uses an overhead and speaks in a monotone voice. He doesn't care about teaching, only about being there. His tests are hard do he can get a curve and he rally doesn't care about the students.
that man made me hate chemistry! he cant speak english and doesnt know how to teach. lectures are a waste of time-go to a tutor instead. if you do take this course go to the mslc every day-thats the way i passed.
Boring, monotone voice, nice Indian accent, and spits and drools when he talks. Still one of the better Chem professors. Notes from the bookstore are helpful.
Notes might be nice, but wait till u get one of his exams.......ouch!!!very hard
I took chem 162 last semester w/ a diff prof N failed it.So far I'm passing w/ agarwal.Chem isNt easy. If u wanna weigh the LESS evil of da 2 proff, Dr. Agarwal is the 1. TAKE HIS class if u wanna PASS CHEMESTRY IN RUTGERS, BOTH 161, 162. !ATTEND EVERY LECTURE NO MATTER HOW BORING 2 GET B or higher!
He's a good professor and if you take the time to do the work that he assigns, you should be in good shape. Also, recitation teachers are very good, and they help a lot if you have any questions, so just do the work, and don't hesitate to ask questions, and a grade of B or higher is def attainable.
Yes he's boring and monotonous but chem is that kinda subject. What I don't get is how people keep saying he can't speak english. Just because he has an accent doesn't mean he can't speak english. Just because you guys are failing chem, doesn't mean you gotta attack the guy's accent. Geez.
this guy is terrible. nothing else can be said.
this guy is a ****
162 SIGNIFICANTLY harder. Get help. Agarwal's very helpful if you ask (but that may just be girls). Definitely buy lecture notes and practice exams at the co-op.
Good on an individual basis, but terrible in a lecture setting....
HIS accent is so terrible so horrible he is the WORST professor known to man kind. DOnt take him he is the reason why i switched majors. You'll regret it if you take him. he made my life miserable. I left RU cause of him. And on top of that i'm an above average student.
true enough this is a hard class, but i thought agarwal did a good job of teaching each. he broke things down so well in my opinion. yeah he's boring, but if you put the effort in you can def do well. lecture wasn't necessary, every word is in the notes i stopped going and got a B+
If you humm a "C" note through the entire class, you won't even know he is talking because that is precisely the only octive he speaks in!! Good luck, bring a HODDEL of coffee to each class. He would most definetly be more successfull with a job giving hummers!
total jerk...helps if you ask questions, but is a terrible grader....has a thick accent. He was absolutely no help in chem recitation..get out as fast as u can if u have him.
i think agarwal was a really great professor and his notes help a lot. he's organize and he's really really nice. take him. he's the best chem prof!
horrible. 'sells' his notes, boring, that class completely changed my whole direction in life that i was going. went from the sciences to economics. took it my freshman year(2000), worst experience ever, definitely bad for students who like to learn from their professor, and not just the book.
i was gonna major in chem.i loved chem more than anybody. but after i had him.. god damn. i changed my major.i hated chem so much after i had him. this class totally ruined my gpa. chem isn't my thing anymore. no1 knows how much i wanted to major in chem. after i met this fob my life has been ruined
This prof is really great. The people who complain are those who don't put in the effort and somehow magically expect to get a good grade. You can't do that for any class and esp. not chem 162. Notes and practice exams are awsome help. Just do the work and a B or higher is def attainable.
His notes are very veyr helpful. Go to class otherwise you will fall behind.
had him for recitation in both Chem 161 and 162. his notes were okay, but he's really hard to understand and not very helpful if you are really struggling. overall, recitation was not that helpful and i really needed it to be
worst teacher any student could ever have. What school gave this moron a ****in doctorate? In conclusion-a i think-a this professor-a is a dumass-a.

this guy could punch you in the face, and then**** in your mouth, and he'd still have too much tenure to be fired. but if you're in science, plan on seeing him. why even bother rating him? just punch yourself in the face and have a friend**** in your mouth.
I hated having Dr. Agarwal. I don't know how Rutgers lets him teach chemistry. CANNOT UNDERSTAND him. Whoever DOES like him.. must be smoking sh*T to improve their hearing. His lectures are boring and I can't decipher his mumbles. Tried ask him a simple question and HE SHOO-ED ME AWAY!! He's a rude little man! PLEASE, do not take him for your sake.
worst teacher.
I honestly think I did better by not going to class on Fridays. Dull gibberish sums it up perfectly.
i know he is boring but the guy is really helpful if u reach out to him...if you talk to him, u can manage to get a C in the class when u actually deserve a F...but CHem 161 at rutgers new brunswick at livingston is taught by the evil siegel so your only hope is having helpful recitation ppl like agarwal...
his class is so easy i got a B just showing up to exams - no studying or going to lecture and recitation - the exams are real straightforward.
the guy does not explain stuff you need to study your ass off for practice exams and notes for an A
VERY UNCLEAR!!!
worst ta. couldnt understand a thing he said. very mean. laughed at your misfortunes. i had him 2 semesters in a row and he didnt help at all
wow what a horrible teacher.
boring guy
Agarwal was my recitation instructor, and in the beginning, I dreaded going to his class because he was so monotonous and boring. But when it came down to it, he got the information that we needed to know across to us.
He's an amazing TA!!! He really helped and was always approachable. the Rest of the people are just bitter

I don't know what everybody elses problem with him is, but he is the BEST TA for Chemistry. He is the only TA that looks at the exams beforehand, so he knows what is the important and relevant material and he makes sure that his students know it. Easily one of the best people I have had here.
Had for for chem recitation. Can't really rate him on grades since there were just 3 straight forward quizzes. He has an accent but its recitation so it doesnt really matter. He's very helpful though when you ask questions.
If you have Dr. Agarwal as a Chemistry recitation professor, you're blessed. He actually cares about his students, if you reach out to him. He's great.
He has an accent but you only notice that for the first week. Ask questions and you'll get straight answers. He does the best he can to get students to try and do the work. If you don't do your homework and don't try, you'll get the grade you deserve. I love this TA.
This man is truly a blessing and is crystal clear in his explanations both in the classroom and at his office hours. He is more than willing to help, and he has so much patience!Chem II was very challenging for me (i devoted MANY hours), but I am so lucky to have had him as a recitation instructor!
Dr. Agarwal tries his best to help students, but he is incredibly boring and slow paced. It is very difficult to pay attention in his recitation, although he does provide good review if you can manage to do so. Unless you want to sit in the front row every recitation, I do not recommend him.
I was always so lost in recitation since he skips over parts in problems because he assumes you know it. Very monotone and always look up at the ceiling. I always feel like I was wasting time with him. Would have rather studied by myself but attendance is mandatory.
I enjoy sitting in his recitation class. He is extremely straightforward and easy to understand. He goes over any questions you may have, which isn't often in such classes. He writes a general summary of important points on the board, which is very helpful for the quizzes. His accent is a little strong but you get used to it.
