This teacher is very difficult to comprehend what he is saying. He really doesn't spend that much time on different material the most he will spend on a lecture is 1 1/2 days of class. Hopefully I don't fail this class.
This man is hard to understand to this very day...he gives pop quizes and his test are not all of whats on the powerpoints. If u so happen to end up in this class, get a STUDY BUDDY!!!
I took Professor Katam last semester for Bio 2 lect. His class is mostly slides but the tests were extremely hard & lengthy. READ your book & take notes. He does help you out by giving extra credit assignments. Attendance was mandatory in lecture but not necessary in lab.Keep a notebook for lab also he checks it. I got a B in lecture and A in lab.
I took Katam for Bio 2 Lab this semester. It was a pretty easy class. We mostly looked at slides and kept the drawings for them in a notebook. We also dissected sheep and worms. Make sure you keep your notebook bc he grades them at the end of the sem.He gave us some E.C to help us out a bit. If you need help just talk to him. I got an A in the lab.
I took Dr Katam for Bio 1011 Lab this semester and I must say that this class was very challenging at times and very time consuming. But if you try your hardest and come to class on a regular basis you should do great because he will work with you as long as he see's that your trying. Overall he's a good professor who really cares. :)
I TOOK HIM FOR 1011L HE IS A VERY GOOD PROFESSOR I RECOMMENDED THAT YOU TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS DRAW ALL THE SLIDES AND PAY ATTENTION.

go to his office hours, do your work, study for his exam and you'll do fine. everything he expects from you is already online. he's a very straight forward man. i loved him!
This class consist of drawing, coloring, some more drawing, and a little dissecting. To pass, use the buddy system, be nice to him, and go to his office hours. He can be a little rude but just ignore him. Show him that you did try to draw the pictures and STUDY for your test and you will do fine

One word...A. There's no way you can fail his class. If you're lazy the lowest grade you'll get is a C. Attendance isn't mandatory but he does like to take random attendance, especially on quiz days. His quizzes are only one question every time. If you want to pass this is the class!!!
i had Dr. Katam for Bio 2 and i was pissed because i was supposed to have Mrs. Webbster, nothing against her but im GLAD they switched my professor. i dont like to study that much and i received a A out of his class. he is hard to understand but you will get used to it. funny teacher, and one of the BEST teachers ive had a FAMU. TAKE HIM!!!!!
Great Professor! He isn't the kind of professor that gets a kick out of seeing his students fail...he'll actually work to the best of his ability to make sure you receive a good grade. Just take notes & study for the test & you'll be fine!
He is an easy A! All the notes are posted on blackboard for you to see. He curves test grades so that my 60 percent was an A. Read over his online notes and you should do fine. He didn't assign any lab textbook. We did a lot of dissections.
HATED his class! omg his test were so hard nothing in his notes were on the test/exams ! He does curve the exams but its only because NO ONE passed them I dont know one person who didnt have to cheat on his exams.....STAY AWAY
(lab)no offense but if you fail this class you should really reathink being in college. His class is REALLY easy we only did one lab completely TAKE him if you want an easy grade with less work BUT you will not learn ANYTHING so if you wanna learn DONT TAKE HIM take someone else and learn something.
Very easy class. You do not need a textbook! But he is very boring. I passed w/ an A. Its very hard to fail.

Very easy class! even tho i cud NVR understand what he was saying, i still got an A lol! no book needed, dont have to take notes cuz they are all on blackboard only have 3 tests, then the final. only thing i hated is that he likes to randomly take attendance. u just cant fail this class, trust me!
EASY A!!! Just make sure you keep your lab notebook ( drawings) updated. He has an accent but its understandable. Definitely take him if you can.
Prof. Katam is an easygoing teacher. He never stays for the entire class period and puts all the notes on blackboard. He does attendance randomly and uses it as extra credit. Not hard to pass his class at all.
He gives a lot of extra credit so you will pass the class. But he wants you to do a lot of random stuff. he thinks of things to do off the top of his head then forgets he told us. So if you want to just slack and pass a class take him, but if you want to actually learn do not take him.
For lecture everytime i'm late to class that's when he gives quizzes. It hurted me at the end. For lab expect a paper every week.
His tests are nothing like his lecture notes. He's gonna try you every class period and you will have to sweat for that A
Katam was an easy professor! But if you actually wanna learn, then I wouldn't recommend him. We didn't do all the labs. If you study the powerpoints, you will pass his exams. We had no lab reports, but we did have a lab presentation and we had to complete the lab worksheets in the manual. He doesn't hold the lab for the whole duration. Easy!
Katam is very confusing in his lectures and directions. Dont buy a labcoat just buy the lab manual and you can finesse that at the end also. He will help if ask but after a while you'll stop caring. As a person I think Katam is funny but you have to finesse his class. And attendance matters.

Spring semester was stressful but Dr. Katam made it slightly easier. His test aren't hard, if you do the labs and study the power points you will pass each time. He is also very generous with the extra credit he gives. If you have any issues he will work with you to ensure that you pass his class. Definitely taking his class again for BSC 1011L!!
I took Dr. Katam in Spring 2017. He is a nice guy. But, his class is very disorganized. He assigns assignments to be due and does not have a clear due date. This can be very frustrating because I had other classes to worry about. He helps out though but the disorganization is just way to much.

Dr. Katam will make sure you pass his class, he told our class that the lowest final grade he gives is a C. Go to class, study his word documents and his PowerPoints and you will be fine.
Dr. Katam maybe a little disorganized but it surely pays off in your favor. I highly recommend you taking his class. He's also very understanding and down to earth and he even brought the class pizza one day. He knows the lectures/labs can be a long period of time for students so he also allows lunch breaks if that's your thing.
I recommend taking this class. He seems tough, is hard to understand, but come to class everyday and speak to him. He's pretty nice and the lab manual isn't hard to do. He grades kind of tough, but it's easy t get the material
He is unorganized, and does not grade fairly. Do not take him for bio lab or any lab. He also seems to forget to grade your other assignments, so its almost like your grade is just based on tests that have materials we did not cover in a lecture because he is never in class. He always walks out of class.
Just go to class its honestly not that hard, study for your test, but he walks out the room for about 15 minuets so hey do what you gotta do. He also works with you so dont worry.
Class was easy, but ALOT of drawing required. 4 tests, nothing gets dropped. Lab Manual due at the end of the semester with everything you've done all semester. Tests are hard if you don't study, quizzes are just as hard. Kind of have to really work for your grade. But its not that bad if you show up and do what you're supposed to.
Easy A!!! Just do your work, turn it in on time and dont wait to the last minute and you will pass! Test are open notes (online notes). And quizzes are take home. One final lab binder with all class work and phylogeny trees from the class due at the end of the semester.
This class is easy just sign in and do your work and then leave. Do all of your labs before they are due so you wont be rushing or stressed at the end of the semester, all quizzes and tests are easy and online. Easy A or B.
He's really easy going if you come to class and do what you're supposed to do. He's hard to understand at first and sometimes gives unclear instructions. Overall it's an easy class (open note tests & take-home quizzes) aside from the lab manual due at the end of the semester.
Dr. Katam is a great professor. Just show up to lab and as long as you follow directions, you will make an A. There are exams, but don't worry you will pass.

Katam is a very unorganized professor and is soft spoken. Class was canceled a lot and we never stayed in class for the entire 2hrs. But he did come through in the end. I ended his class with a A he curved all test grades.
Please please dont take him. Hes unorganized, doesnt teach havent learned one thing. Doesnt grade fairly you could work together as a group one gon get an A other F next C. He never stays in the class he leaves and come on his own time. He lacks good communication skills, he will read your emails and never reply. He doesnt have no empathy.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, this professor was not considerate towards his students at all. He refused to answer emails and failed several students without reasoning. He is extremely rude and without the help of his bosses, he is impossible to reach. If you are looking for a professor who cares about their students, he is not it.
Please.. DO NOT take this man! He is very unorganized and rude. He will teach for 5 minutes then be mute for the rest of the class time (ZOOM) and we literally did not learn anything all we have done was draw organisms. If you try to get in contact with him he would not respond, he admitted that he looks at emails but doesnt reply. BEWARE

A bit unorganized. Took him for bio lab and we usually only stayed for an hour. Doesn't do much teaching just plays youtube video about the labs. McGraw labs are easy. Doesn't respond to emails
He always comes to class incredibly late and ends class about an hour before it's supposed to. He grades assignments wrong, and almost never answers his email.
This professor barely knows what he's doing and is never specific when he assigns work/assignments to do. You have to make sure to ask him questions in order to get information out of him. Homework is easy, tests just make sure you study I guess.

His instructions are never clear for assignments. His instructions will say one thing and he will expect you to do another even if he didnt explain you to do that. Sometimes he misses office hours. Also, communication with him is horrible! He doesnt respond to canvas messages or his emails! I wish I reported him when I had the chance.
All we did was draw. Class was pretty much show up, look at a slideshow, then draw for the remainder of class. I stopped showing up honestly. Try and study cause the exams and quizzes are kinda hard if you don't cheat on them. Other than that, he was pretty chill.

I'm not sure if this class will be accessible online anymore but this class was the easiest A I had for summer semester. Cheated on bout every test and quiz and there was barely any homework. Show up to lecture with your camera on, do your work and you should be fine.
He barely held class and sometimes didnt show up. We had about 5 grades total, and theres no point in trying to negotiate your grade with him. He never attends his office hours nor responds to emails, he can be rude too. Most of the time assignment instructions were unclear. The course isnt difficult just the professor.

Dont waste your time, just take Grant if you can because her classes are interactive. He only makes us draw and barely lectures. The labs are just you drawing and then looking at slides. No textbooks or other lab materials are required. Hes also very disorganized. Class instructions are confusing. An easy A but youll be bored and annoyed
He explains the topic with examples and relate to current life.

Does not respond to office hours or emails. Your visible grade is the grade you have, no debate. Does not communicate well with students. Has tendency to be rude, but the class is easy it's literally just him.
Dr. Katam'a grading criteria is vague. Also occasionally grades some questions wrong on the exams. I got lucky with the first exam because I was able to see what I got wrong, but not for the rest. Take him at your own risk.
Honestly the class is easy cause all you do is draw but he likes to get very sassy and slick at the mouth with students. theres been multiple times where he went in and changed all of our test grades and lowered them.

This class is alot of drawing! Drawings do not have to be "perfect" or super detailed but he wants them nice and neat with at least 3 labels per drawing. He cancelled class alot at the last minute. Exams and quizzes are online but can still be tricky. Be sure not to fall behind with the drawings or else it'll be hard to catch up. Overall easy A!
Disorganized teacher, often argues with students and is not understanding. Easy subject to take but frankly, he does not follow order when giving grades and often if he does not agree with the student he changes the grade. Advice? Don't waste your time with him.
He is kinda rude at times and will cut you off, be late to class, leave class early, and put class on zoom. All exams were online through lockdown with no camera and all quizzes were also online. Sometimes hard to understand, but if you want an A and don't want to learn take him.
Dr. Katam was not a very good professor. We had an in-person lab, but then he made it online. A lot of the time he would not communicate whether or not we had class. He also is very hard to get in touch with outside of class. We didn't have many assignments. We had 3 tests, a project, and a Lab report. Take this professor at your own risk.
His class is so easy because he doesn't care about how well you learn the material (AKA, take him if you wanna cheat your way through bio without learning). He made attendance not mandatory and all exams online (the final was optional). But is a little rude and unhelpful. But then again, he's just there if you want an easy A.
One of my most chill classes, all of the exams are online and he drops your lowest one. Attendance isn't mandatory and all of the assignments are online just be careful to watch the time they close. This class is pretty straight forward, if you study you will be fine.

Extremely easy class, if you pay attention to the slides you can learn the material, but if you don't want to just keep up with your drawings. Tests are online no lockdown. Easy A I would take him if you can to lighten your coursework for your semester and while attendance is mandatory you RARELY stay for the full class.
I take him for lec and lab and he doesn't teach at all. He makes you draw organisms from the internet for lab and for lec, study on your own.. or dont because all exams/quizzes are online. He says "read the slides" and then throws you into quizzes. He made our in person lec online and even then attendance isnt mandatory because WE DONT LEARN.
This class went online based on everyone's opinion. But if I request, I will go in person. Several of us went in person class and those who do not come to class go on line as the option. This class is easy and this professor does not read from the slides. You must study to get a grade and quizzes are easy.
