Dr. Ramesh has a heavy Indian accent and is a bit hard to understand for the first week or so, but he's a nice guy who really likes the subject. Sometimes his explanations get a bit too deep and hard to relate to, and there's always the language barrier, too. I recommend reading the book thoroughly to succeed in the course.
He was very helpful and understanding. One of the best professors I've had!
Memorize the study guide is all you all to do.
One of my favorite professors! Very personable and is very passionate about the subject. Although he is difficult to understand at first, he makes concepts easy to understand. Definitely recommend!
Dr. Ramesh is an awesome instructor.
He is extremely nice and he was really helpful when I needed it. Even though it is hard to understand him, he is a good professor.
No need to show up to every class because all the quizzes are online, and the midterm and final exam is based on those quizzes word per word, so as long as you study those you will get an A+. Only time you need to really show up for class is to receive the answers to the in-class quiz, and short answer questions for the midterm and finals.
He's really nice.
Great course. Show up wanting to learn and you will learn which is all you can ask of any college professor.
Dr. Ramesh is an outstanding professor. He is very approachable and intelligent. He is by far the best professor I have ever had. I would definitely recommend students to take his class. He provides a fun filled healthy learning environment that makes every student feel comfortable and well. If I have an award I would give him one "Best Professor"!
Dr. Ramesh explained each topic in detail if one student did not understand what was going on. It was easy to learn and understand the material in his class. I would love to take this class or any of his classes again to understand the topics well.
Great class!
Ramesh is one of my favorite teachers thus far. Yes, he has an accent, so it is hard to understand him, but his tests and quizzes can be passed just by going through the PowerPoints on your own time. No textbook needed. Microbiology was a breeze because Ramesh was helpful, knowledgeable, and patient. Go to class for the participation points!!
This class can be difficult at times as there is a lot of material to cover. Ramesh is a really fun professor to have and he loves his students and watching them learn. The tests and the participation impact your grade like crazy! The test are basically 80% questions pulled straight from the quizzes verbatim, so they're not too bad.
Dr. Ramesh is the BEST. He was very helpful and an overall joy to have as a professor. People may say his accent is hard to 'understand', but it isn't that bad. If you get Dr. R for any lecture, relax! You're in for a great learning experience. (Grading easy, but still study.)
Dr. Ramesh really cares for the students and wants them to do well. He is always available for the students. I cannot express how cool he is and how much he wants students to do well. I love Dr. Ramesh.
Dr. Ramesh is really and interesting guy and wants each of the students to do well in each of their classes. He goes out of his way to be helpful and on multiple occasions has allowed students to take their assignments late if they have an excuse. He is super awesome. I would defiantly take him again.
Dr. Ramesh was a great instructor. He really wants to make sure that you know all of the material you are going over, and will not hesitate to explain something to you. Getting a good grade is inevitable because of his efforts to make sure that you succeed. He also creates a fun class environment and you will find yourself laughing a lot.
Professor Ramesh really knows what he is talking about and while he explains everything in great depth. It is very easy to follow along in class especially because he is pretty funny and keeps the class engaged. He is very easy going and understanding due to the fact that he always makes sure that his students understand the criteria.
Need help? Just ask, more than happy to give assistance.
Ramesh is a great teacher, and very educated in the realm of biology, microbiology and biochemistry. Has a passion for teaching and would take his class again in an instant.
Dr. V has a wonderful sense of humor and is a very kind man who is willing to help. However, his lectures can be slightly confusing, he repeats a lot of the same information. He tends to over-explain some things that make them seem more confusing than they are. However, if you ask him for clarity he's usually pretty good about clearing up confusion
Dr. Ramesh has a very strong accent and my class was at 7am so it was difficult to be able to pay attention, but as long as you understand his powerpoints and the concepts you will pass. Make sure to study the quizzes because they and other course materials are what you will be taught from and learn from. Otherwise, he is very funny and helpful!
Ramesh is the best! He makes Micro super simple and always reassures you by telling you it is "easy". I would take any class from him!
Hilarious
I know I'm new to the whole college thing, but I seriously love having Ramesh as my professor. He is incredibly genuine and honestly loves teaching. I love the way he teaches because when he goes through the material, he tells you EXACTLY what you need to know for the exams, which makes them a million times easier to do well in! I love Dr. Ramesh!
I have Dr. Ramesh for Micro right now and I absolutely love it. My friends had a bunch of other professors, and I think I lucked out by having him. I heard great things about him last year, so I figured I would take him now and I have not regretted it for a second! Seriously, if you have him as an option, TAKE HIM!
The rating says it all "A real gem!" Please, if you have the option, choose Ramesh's class. In the end, it will save your grade, your GPA, and your sanity. A lot of my friends have a lot of busy work and have to read the book, but for us, if we show up, he tells us everything we need to know! Its great!
I was so scared to take biochem based on the stories everyone told me, but he made this class way simpler than i expected it to be. i was really glad to have taken him last semester
Dr. Ramesh is awesome and my whole class is taking time out of our day to show you all! He really cares about his students and always tries to help. To be fair, he can sometimes over-analyze things, but when the exams roll around, you're always thankful he went into so much detail. He really prepares you for being successful!
I was so scared to take this class and ended up being pleasantly surprised! He was really tentative to the important details and super short with the less important stuff. The exams were relatively easy considering the material, but I still feel like I understood all of the important concepts really well afterwards. Great professor!!
Ramesh teaches class well. I have loved his work and enjoyed learning about microbiology. One of the best parts of his class is that if you pay attention in class then the actual tests are easy and very manageable stress wise. As a professor, he is the most approachable I have had yet.
Ramesh's class prepared me well for Pharmacology at the medical school level. I am so glad that I took his course. I cannot express how much the different lectures and interactive events were to my success at the graduate level. Take this man if you want to do really well.
I enjoy having Ramesh as a professor! He cares a lot about class participation and sometimes he is difficult to understand, but he is very knowledgable and will answer any questions you have. If you pay attention in class and review the power points, you should do good on quizzes and exams because he is not a tricky professor. Highly recommend!
I do not recommend Ramesh. He is a nice man and knowledgeable, but I worked extremely hard in this class and there were things tested that were never discussed in lecture. I read every chapter in the book and I would answer based off of the book's answers. His answer would be completely the opposite of what the book said was right.
Dr. Ramesh is very knowledgeable and cares a lot for his students. If you're lost, make sure to ask questions during class or after class because it helps a lot. He's also lenient and approachable.
He is a SUPER professor. Really cares about his students and knows what he is talking about! I would highly recommend taking him for Biology!
While the class is not very difficult, the class is often boring and Dr. Ramesh can be difficult to understand at times. Also, don't expect him to understand why you are having difficulty. Besides this, he presents the information relatively effectively, covering nearly all material in class. Most importantly, ALWAYS CHOOSE ALL OF THE ABOVE!
He is a good professor, but extremely hard to understand. He does know what is is talking about, but I had a hard time sitting through his lectures. Be ready to read the text book because his power point lectures and study guides make no sense and are not specific enough to help you pass the exams.
Ramesh is super nice but, he is really hard to understand. He definitely cares about his students and wants all to do well, but unfortunately for me I did not learn much in this class due to not being able to understand what he was saying. He tended to ramble on and he lost me. Super nice guy just extreamly hard to understand.
Ramesh is a really fun and nice teacher. He is engaging and will go the extra mile to help you out. However, his accent is thick so it is hard to understand him during lecture. Nonetheless, he is willing to help you out during his office hours so go to them if you don't understand the material being taught in class. Very knowledgeable too!
Dr. Ramesh is a very nice professor. However, his accent is very thick. I cannot understand a word he says. This makes it very challenging to learn. His voice is dull, many people fall asleep during lecture. Also, his quizzes can be tricky because there are always E. answers that are all the about or 2 of the answers are correct but they are not.
If you want to actually learn something in class, do not take professor Ramesh's class. His thick accent makes it extremely difficult to understand, but on top of that his lectures are dull and are not beneficial. I have to learn all of the material on my own outside of class. Nobody pays attention in class because nobody understands him.
Unless you want to learn everything by yourself outside of class don't take him. He is not a good lecturer, which is further compounded by the fact he has a thick Indian accent. He has no idea what is due when and if you ask he insists that you should know. The only good thing is he takes all his quizzes and exams from quizlet so it isn't too hard.
Dr. Ramesh is the most caring professor at GCU; he is always available to answer question inside and outside of class. He is very caring and makes the complicated topics much easier to understand with his great explanations. I would recommend him for all biology classes.
Dr. Ramesh has been my favorite professor thus far. Though many people use the excuse of his accent getting in the way, it is not that difficult to understand. In fact, it made me pay attention in class more, and that led to learning more. He is very helpful before quizzes and exams and I strongly encourage using his office hours.
Hard to understand. Doesnt work with students.
I had the hardest time in this class because I cannot understand what he is saying. His accent is so thick, and it made this class extremely difficult for me.
Great professor, easy class. Dr. Ramesh is great at preparing you for his quizzes and tests. He does have a think accent, but if you pay attention you will understand what he is saying. Super sweet and caring guy and loves to poke fun at the class. A good choice for an easy class.
Easy class to excel if you can pay attention, always gives clues for quiz and exam answers and what to look for. Has a thick accent but easy to understand after a couple days. Very helpful and always keeps a light atmosphere. Not a single homework assignment all year. Highly recommend
I took him for biology 181. He does not teach anything and expect you to already know everything before the lecture. He puts together powerpoints but spends more time flipping back and forth through his slides and messing with animations than he does teaching. He also has a very heavy accent and is hard to understand.
SO hard to understand, I just gave up trying to! He just reads from PowerPoint slides.
Professor Ramesh is a wonderful instructor and I learnt a lot during this class. He is always willing to help even outside normal class hours. I found him to be quite funny and he has an ability to always keep his class engaged. He provides great information and tips on what to study. An extremely knowledgeable man with a big heart :)
Dr. Ramesh is a very caring teacher and wants his students to excel. He connects information in slides in way that you could understand. Some of the information implemented can be used for other classes like Bio-205 Microbiology. If you do not understand, he will make sure you do. He is funny and most of the assignments are easy A's if you listen
Professor Ramesh is very difficult to understand during the first few weeks of school due to his thick Indian accent, but if you sit close to the front, it is easier to comprehend what he is saying. He isn't very good at instructing; most of the time you end up teaching yourself from crash course or quizlet. He is helpful with reviews before tests.
Dr. Ramesh was a fantastic teacher, explained many of the concepts thoroughly, and showed animations to clarify harder subjects. Although his accent is somewhat hard to understand with certain words, he will reexplain the concept for clarification. Dr. Ramesh is easy to access outside of class and wants students to do well in his classes.
Dr. Ramesh is a great professor who is always willing to help his students when you need him. He is very knowledgable, as he is also a researcher, and is very caring for his students. 10/10 recommend.
Gives lots of insight and takes the time if YOU take the time.
Hard to understand at times. Very nice when you go to office hours. Expectations too high.
He is a great teacher who wants all of his students to succeed. Bio 181 is by no means easy, however if you just put the effort in to come to class and listen you will pass regardless. He has open office hours where he will sit down with you and explain anything you are having trouble with until you get it. I promise you will be glad you chose him.
If you have to option to have Dr. Ramesh for your bio181, do it. He is chill and will help you if you are having trouble understanding something from his lectures. Literally just come to class and read the powerpoints and you will be fine. The people blaming his accent are probably the same people who skipped class and only came for tests.
Dr. Ramesh is one of the most caring professors that I've had. Although he has high expectations he will make sure you meet them by offering help outside of the classroom. If you want to excel in his class it is really up to you. Study, get help during office hours and you will succeed because Ramesh will do everything in his power to help you.
Dr. Ramesh is one of the best Professors I had this year. He cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. He will go out of his way to help, which is what I appreciate about him the most. Highly recommend, hard class, but he makes it easy to understand.
Great Professor! Very nice and always willing to help. Biology is not my strongest subject, but he made it easy to understand! Take his class if you want to actually learn.
The professor can be flexible at times and is very understanding when a student is having trouble in the class. Quizzes are bi-weekly and the information is via powerpoint presented. Lastly, the atmosphere in his class is engaging and can be humorous at times.
Dr. Ramesh is a great professor, especially for incoming freshman. His lectures and powerpoints make the subject you're learning easy to understand, and if you are struggling, he is very easy to approach and very helpful. If you go to his office hours, study hard and make it known that you try in his class, he will go above and beyond to help you.
Really good person but not as good of a teacher. His accent makes him hard to understand and his class seemed a bit unorganized but if you are willing to put in a fair amount of extra effort to learn the material on your own he will help you prepare for what is on the test during his office hours. I would have done better had I known this going in.
Great person, sometimes hard to understand if you can't handle accents, he also answers questions very thoroughly.
Ramesh is honestly the best professor Ive had this semester. If you pay attention in class and ask him questions, he will be very clear about what he is looking for on quizzes and exams. He is very caring and wants all of his students to succeed, as long as they want to as well. He does have an accent, but it gets easier to understand:)
Prof Ramesh is a great teacher. He tells you everything you need to know so that you do well in the class. I would definitely recommend going to his office and checking back on any subject that you are unclear about because he always does a great job explaining confusing concepts.
Dr. Ramesh was very helpful. He went out of his way to help students prepare for quizzes and tests by posting activity sheets and matching worksheets for each quiz. He also went over quiz questions before each test to prepare. His accent was not an issue: especially after the first couple weeks. Overall, he was super nice and helpful.
He provides the class with activity sheets and review materials that are helpful for the quiz. If you go to his office hours, you will be able to understand his quizzes and tests. His lectures and PowerPoints seemed like rambling, but he does emphasize what is important to know. I would recommend him for this class!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! If you can get Ramesh, do it! He is amazing and he is kind and cares for his students. I highly recommend seeing him outside of class in office hours, he does EVERYTHING for you succeed. He is clear with his requirements and his exams are easy. TAKE HIM!!!
He is a great professor and super personable. You really just need to pay attention and study. He does have an accent, so if you have a hard time understanding people with accents, you may want to sign up for a different professor.
I really enjoyed having Ramesh for Lecture. He likes to be goofy but is also really passionate about making sure his students understand the concepts being covered. He will also clearly explain what is expected out of tests and quizzes so that each student is able to do well.
Dr. Ramesh was pretty good. He did everything in order to help his students pass. He posted lecture slides and additional worksheets. He reviewed before each quiz so this was very helpful. His accent wasn't a huge issue, you will get used to it. However, he did get kind of rude sometimes. Other than that, he's a good professor.
Dr. Ramesh is hands-down the best professor that I've had. His tests and quizzes stay true to his lectures. If you attend the lectures, you will do just fine in the class. He is hilarious and cares about his students. Enjoy this class.
Dr. Ramesh is the one of the best professors at GCU. he prepares his students for quizzes and exams and related the concepts to real life scenarios to help his students understand them. He is also funny and has a huge heart. I strongly recommend his course.
If bio is a tough subject for you, DONT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!! Hes hard to understand and if you ask him a simple question hell make you seem like youre dumb for asking. Even going into his office hours for looking at your exams or tests hes no help. He just circles the right answer and lets you figure out how its right.
Dr.V is the man! He has an accent, but it really isnt that bad and just makes you pay attention more in class. He makes sure you know everything that is on the quizzes and exams. Overall great guy and great professor!
We have homework assignments due every weekend but they are super easy and his quizzes and tests really aren't that bad. He honestly was awesome and super nice!! if you go to class its an easy way to get points for his class.
Dr. Ramesh is one of the most intelligent instructors I have ever met. He incorporates humor into his lectures. He is very blunt about subject matter and what he expects. He does have an accent but it is not as bad as everyone says. I wish I could have him again, 11/10. The presentations that he posts on LoudCloud are very helpful in studying.
Even though Biology does not relate to my choice of major AT ALL, Ramesh made this class somewhat enjoyable for me. Tests and quizzes were very hard at first, but his office hours are probably the most helpful I've ever seen. This professor was actually so good, he was my laptop background for the rest of the semester.
Lectures are easy to follow, slides are organized/straight to the point. He always explains the concepts using pictures, which is awesome if you're a visual learner. Best part is the study material he posts, plus he does a mini review before quizzes/exams, goes over exactly what you'll need to know to ace the test. Obvious choice for general bio!
As long as you show up to class and pay attention you will be fine. His accent is a little difficult to understand. It makes you have to focus more. He will tell you exactly what is going to be on the exam.
Made weekend tests mandatory and went so fast in class I could never keep up. When I asked for help he took days to respond and never actually helped me.
He was thorough and helpful. He was understanding and kind to me, but definitely is less patient with those who clearly lack respect and determination to do well in class. Students who dont like him are too harsh, hes definitely a good teacher.
Taking this class over zoom was challenging. While I believe Dr. Ramesh was trying his best, he and the class were often not "on the same page" learning wise. Class seemed to drone on and on. I will commend Dr. Ramesh for flexibility. When I needed an extension because of covid, he was very understanding. Be prepared to work hard and study a lot.
Dr. Ramesh is one of the best prof I had, i had him for general bio and took him again for general microbiology and no regrets. He is an absolute gem and will help you with whatever you need !!
Dr. Ramesh is without a doubt one of the best teachers I have had in GCU. I can tell he loves Microbiology and he wants his students to acquire strong knowledge for their professional careers. I just wished that the Covid Pandemic did not happen because it was a little hard to pay attention in zoom meetings. I suggest studying his powerpoints.
Professor Ramesh is honestly a great professor. He does have a very thick accent, but you'll get used to it. He is super chill and he cares about his student's success. He is not very strict at all when it comes to attendance; however, I do recommend going to his lectures because his slides may consists of a lot of quiz questions.
I had to retake this class, and Ramesh was much easier to understand! His accent isn't actually that hard to understand, and he explains the concepts very well. Read the powerpoints before coming to class and he will highlight the main concepts. He creates study guides for each quiz, so everything that you test on, you're prepared for!
Overall good professor! He accent can be hard to understand at first but you get used to it. In the online setting he focused a lot on participation and activities. Although helpful since we only had on hour I would have liked to spend more time on lecture. Easy A if you study the material he gives you!
For most students, his accent was an issue. I understood him perfectly fine, but he does have an accent. He really makes you understand the material, and microbiology is not an easy topic. He always does Kahoots after lecture and tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams. His powerpoints highlight what you need to know too!
Ramesh is a great and caring prof. Pay attention during lecture, take notes from the PowerPoints during/after/both. Kahoot questions are often on the quizzes. Read and take notes on the textbook. Study the course materials. Quiz questions show up on all 3 tests, especially the 1st and 3rd. Go to his office hours to go over quizzes/tests with him.
Dr. Ramesh really cares about his students and that is very clear, but I would not recommend taking his class online or over zoom. He was very hard to understand and I really did not enjoy his class because of this. The class itself was pretty easy and he seems like a really nice person
This is the best teacher for microbio, trust. All his kahoot questions are literally the quiz/exam. Hes hilarious and love his students
He is truly a gem who wants you to succeed. He will take the time to work with you and figure out how to make you succeed. All test and quiz answers are in bold in his powerpoints, which are posted,. The class itself isn't super easy simply because it is just a lot of information to learn, but I genuinely enjoyed it. He is funny and kind.
Professor Ramesh cares about his students but is sometimes very hard to understand in lectures. He makes his office hours open to all and is a nice guy. Beware that his study guides provided on Halo are horrible and not necessarily relative to the tests or quizzes. Your quizzes and tests will make your grade.
Ramesh is my Dog! The class is boring but can get through it easily. Ramesh is a super cool guy though definitely try and get to know him, lots of great stories.
Some might disagree, but I personally enjoyed Professor Ramesh's lectures. His teaching style isn't the best since he just reads off his slides, but he makes it way easier than it should be. It is a heavy lecture class. You should be good if you study what is on his PointPower and do your homework on Connect. His Kahoots might be on the quizzes btw
Heavy heavy accent, sit in the front to get on his good side
Hes the only BIO 205 teacher who does Kahoot before the quiz or exam day which is very helpful! It is an easy A for his class
Dr. Ramesh is a good professor for micro. His lectures are straightforward and occasionally cracks a jokes. His office hours are really helpful, too. He wants everyone to do well in his class. I recommend him for micro.
If you happen to have Dr. Ramesh switch as quickly as you can. Dr. Ramesh is the worst teacher I have ever had in my academic career, he doesn't acknowledge the fact that we are here to learn, he is very judgmental and rigorous on your work if you don't have a lot of biology experience. This teacher lacks every aspect of a good teacher, do not rec.
He is a very sweet professor and his exams and quizzes are pretty easy. Just pay attention in class and you will do great.
His lectures are very boring but the powerpoints he provides outside of class are very useful. Be ready to spend a lot of time studying but if you use the information given it’ll be easy to pass. He also gives kaboom questions which are always on the quizzes and tests.
Professor Ramesh is a really great guy. His TA isn't really helpful at all where I started to struggle in the class but once I actually talked to the professor during office hours he really helped me. He is understanding of your situations going on. Attendance IS mandatory if you want to pass this class. Very lecture heavy and very test heavy.
He was hard to understand behind the mask with his thick accent. However, he truly wanted to help you learn. If you ask questions- he will draw, reexplain, and do everything in his power to help you understand. The tests were sometimes rather difficult (due to surprise questions from the reading). However, he is your best bet to take for bio @ gcu.
He has a pretty thick accent and it was really difficult to understand him with his mask on. He also has a habit of interrupting students while they answer questions or give presentations which can be frustrating. However, he does want his students to do well. Lots of quizzes, almost weekly, but they prepared us well for the exams.
Ramesh clearly knows his stuff. His PowerPoints are very informative and thorough. He does have an accent but you get used to it by week 2 of the semester. He always does a Kahoot before the quizzes, I recommend taking a picture of all the questions because they will be on the quiz. Also, the exams are very easy, they are the quizzes all together.
I think he is a good professor, but I just couldn't make myself care about Biology as a class, so I didn't study as much as I should have. He always let us ask questions if we were confused and he would ask us questions to make sure we understood. He was a good teacher, but I discovered that I don't like Biology. I would recommend professor Ramesh.
Dr. Ramesh cared deeply about his students and was extremely helpful both in and out of class with understanding material. He made sure to give all materials necessary to d9 well in the course. His lectures were engaging and interactive so the material was easier to understand
Take this class for the easy A. Dr. Velupillaimani does have an accent, but it is very understandable. He is a kind professor and gives you everything needed to do well. Kahoots are exact quiz questions, important stuff is bolded on PP, quizzes make up exams to a T, and there's hardly any work. Only downside to the class is lectures are very dry.
He is a great professor and is hilarious. Show up to his lectures and take a lot of notes. Make sure you use the kahoots because they are super helpful for quizzes and exams. Tests are hard so show up to his office hours early in the year because its mad easy to fall behind
If you do not understand something go to his office hours. Ask questions, study the kahoots, and study the stuff in red
I took Professor Velupillaimani due to his high ratings on rate my professor but that was a mistake. He is a very kind man and I am sure he would be a great teacher but you cannot understand a WORD he says. Almost every person in that class was confused and had not one idea what was going on. His notes are vague and the book is not much help.
I can't tell you how his teaching was because I couldn't understand a word of it. Very very VERY thick accent- almost every person in the class had no idea what was going on or what he was saying.
Mr. Ramesh overall really cares about his students and is a great person. But you can really not understand him at all, he lectures the whole time and its very hard to understand what is needed to know. Not a lot of homework but had to teach myself basically the whole time and tests are nothing like what you are told ur supposed to study.
Great professor! His powerpoints are long but he is very clear that if you study what is in color then you'll do good on the quizzes. We're required to do a presentation, 7 quizzes, 3 exams, Connect homework through the textbook for participation, occasional DQ & Kahoots. He provides great feedback and will do what he can to help you succeed.
Professor Ramesh is one of the most caring and genuine professors. You can tell he loves what he does; however his accent is heavy making him hard to understand. Read the textbook, GO TO OFFICE HOURS TO LOOK OVER QUIZZES, and go over the kahoots and you will be set up for success.
I really like him as a person, but the course itself was difficult for me. I felt good in the beginning but it gets more difficult throughout so make sure to ask questions if needed or you will get lost as I did. His accent is pretty heavy, so make sure you ask questions if you get confused. He tries to make lectures interesting and personable.
Ramesh is such a great professor! He counts participation and expect several quizzes. This course can be hard at times, but he makes the material much less intimidating through his fun and engaging lectures. He wants his students to succeed and is very available for help and feedback in and outside the classroom. Highly recommend!
Dr. Ramesh is the best professor for this class. If you have trouble understanding him, sit at the front of the class and try to follow along his PowerPoints. He will point out specific content that you may be asked on for the exams. Use his study guides and notes, review past quizzes before exams (!!), make time to study, and you will succeed!
Just make sure you study the material more than you think. This class has some tough concepts and can be difficult to understand during lectures. Ramesh is so kind and approachable. Don't be afraid of his accent. It takes some getting used to but if you are paying attention and class and sit up front you will be fine.
Dr Ramesh is a good professor. His class is very lecture heavy and he does read of the slides for the most part but adds things onto the slides so i would recommend going to class. There are a lot of quizzes in the class but if you study the slides you will succeed on them. He also is very open to answering questions during tests and exams.
Ramesh is hard for me to review. He gave me my first A- of college despite my many hours of study, but I also love him and want to be in his RDP. Very hard to understand accent and his slides make no sense. His quizzes are easy though. If you never tried, you could get a B in his class. However, no amount of effort can guarantee an A. Be mindful.
Dr. Ramesh made this class bearable for me. I struggled a little with this course but he took the time to go over it more if I had questions. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! It helps a lot going, to see where you went wrong on tests and exams and he will further explain. Good teacher.
Great professor overall. Halo is hard to navigate, a course schedule given was so extremely helpful USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE to stay on top of tests and quizzes. Definitely make sure you are doing EVERY participation worksheet and Amplifier online assignment every week, every point matters it will sneak up on you. SIT IN FRONT ROWS hard to hear!!
His accent is not that hard to understand, a lot of the negative reviews exaggerate his accent. Simply pay attention and you'll do fine. The slides have everything on the exams/quizzes. the quizzes have questions that carry onto the exams. If you were to show up during office hours at least like once before an exam you will have an A guaranteed
I enjoyed Professor Ramesh's class. He is lecture heavy, but also very funny and interactive while in class. His slides are easy to follow and are the best thing to study to prep for quizzes/exams. There are a lot of quizzes/exams but I always felt prepared and just spent time reviewing. He does have an accent so I suggest sitting in the front.
He is a nice professor but very hard to understand in lectures. He mumbles a lot, is very quiet, and is hard to understand. The powerpoints have very little information on them and he skips through the powerpoints very fast. The study guides are not helpful at all so it is hard to know what to study for exams and quizzes. There are a lot of quizzes
His lectures are hard to follow, especially because he is so quiet and has a really thick accent. There are 7 quizzes and 3 exams which count for over 60% of the course grade. The powerpoints are unhelpful and the provided study guides are completely useless (they don't relate to what's being tested) which makes studying for this class difficult.
Professor Ramesh is the best for BIO 181. His exams are almost copies of the quizzes so if you go into his office hours, you should have no problem getting a good grade. He does have a thick accent, but if you stick it out he will become easier to understand. He is very strong in his faith and a very genuine, caring person.
The Kahoots are quiz questions, and the quizzes have test questions. Go to office hours to review them. I found it helpful to read the textbook. He is hard to understand and wasn't very good at explaining when I asked him questions about our project. He is an easy grader. If you want to really learn this material, I would take another professor.
Easy B or A. Kahoots are word for word quiz Q's and the Quiz Q's make up a huge portion of the Exams. Next to no studying needed if you can memorize the answers. That being said don't expect to come out of this class knowing micro bio, his accent is very thick but he is a nice guy. Attendance was never taken and participation point were free marks.
office hours are super helpful to go over quizzes. material from quizzes are on the test so it makes it easy to study and be prepared. cares about students. has accent and is soft-spoken so try to sit in the front.
Professor Ramesh's BIO181 class can be challenging, but well worth it. His lectures are thorough and aligned with the quizzes/exams. The material can be tricky, but using unstuck study alongside the textbook and office hours helps stay on top of it.
Dr Ramesh is a great professor, once you get used to his accent, his lectures become easier to understand. He's really friendly and open to discussing quizzes and exams so you can learn from your wrong answers, it isn't hard to approach him at all. The group project is frustrating but that is just dependent on who you end up in a group with.
Dr. Ramesh was my favorite professor my first semester.
I would 100% recommend this professor. He's always willing to get the students extra help. Also, doesn't judge if your not doing good in the class. This is my second time taking biology and I personally think the only reason I passed was cause of the extra help he helped me with!! Highly recommend!
Dr. Ramesh is a very caring man and his class was enjoyable. His accent was hard to understand at times so I recommend sitting in the front and watching what he does on the screen because you can piece together what he says easily. Be ready to take notes and complete study guides and you will be fine. Office hours are also a huge help.
Dr. Ramesh is a friendly and informative professor. The toughest part was understanding him with a strong accent + soft spoken. I suggest printing the provided study guides + working on those during lecture + find Kahoots to review/active recall!! Kahoot questions showed up on quizzes & quiz questions on exams.
I'm honestly not sure why his rating is so high. Between his thick accent and over all low speaking voice he is hard to understand which is not his fault. Based on other reviews i though it would be a cake walk but no matter how much i put into studying i never saw the reflection in my grade. I will say that he cares about his students.
Dr. R is very kind, but it is kind of difficult to understand him at times during the lecture. If he is explaining complex material it can be hard to pick up what you will need to know for the exam, so I recommend reading the book before class. Also use his IA if you can, because that is the only reason I passed the class.
Great professor. Helps you a lot in office hours if you're struggling. He has an accent but you get used to it and will do just fine. He's caring and wants you to actually learn.
Ramesh was an amazing prof. Yes, his accent is thick, but you truly do get used to it after a while. The study guides and IA truly helped. Overall he was a good teacher, knew his stuff, and was very kind and supportive.
he is an amazing professor and you can tell he truly cares about each student. he has office hours almost everyday and will explain anything you need help with. he does have a thick accent but you will get used to it and be able to understand him pretty quickly
Look, Dr. Ramesh is very hard to understand sometimes. But if you pay attention and follow what he is teaching you can get an A. He will literally give you the answers to some questions during the lecture. But if you are on your phone and not paying attention you will not do well because he is very subtle when he lectures.
Dr. Ramesh is a really nice professor, and while his accent can be hard to understand at first, you get used to it over time. The exams are easier than the quizzes, and his PowerPoints are super helpful for understanding the material. He's always available during office hours, and sitting in the front definitely makes it easier to follow along.
Dr. Ramesh was an amazing professor that truly cared for his students. He made sure all his students knew at least some of the questions on his quizzes and exams, as well as stating that his power points would have most of the information for his quizzes and exams. He was hilarious during lectures and wanted the best for his students.
