Not a bad teacher.

He was not bad when I had him. Always answered questions, our last test was a "take-home" test which I did in a group and got an 'A' on. Looks mean but it pretty nice.

He has his own style of teaching, and if you are really interested will try to help. More importantly, he is the hottest math professor on campus!

The class notes were very clear, gives hw every class period. his tests reflect his notes and the hw, nothing is a surprise on the tests. he does not always return hw on time. overall, he is a good professor, has a curve, but this class takes time.

Professor was very clear in his note-taking style. If you kept up w/ the reading & H.W. the tests will be easy. Class is not that fun you need to put effort to obtain a good grade in this class.

as long as you did the homework and the group work you were fine, all the questions on the test came from either those or the notes. he's really helpfulif you have any questions. coming to class is important though, he has you sign in every day.

I can't stand Statistics and this guy makes it interesting...not easy though. He's a very good teacher. Definitely not for the lazy student.

Lots of work, but he does a GOOD job translating the math info to simpler terms. Show up to every class and you will understand most things. Tests are very long and mostly busy work. Put everything on your notecards.

Not a bad class, Exams are identical to the homework problems. If you do the homework you'll pass the class with no problems.

Professor Vakilian is a good teacher. I think the only reason he has a low rating is because of freshmen who take the class and have no idea what it means to be in college. You've got to listen and study and do homework. Welcome to the university.

vakilian is very methodical and will explain every single step. literally every single step. so there's almost no possible way to fail. you must pay attention to pass this class, along with doing the hw. the hw is a lot, but if you get the math, then it should be easy. ppl who truly want to learn stats should take this class. slackers beware

Everyone talks so bad about him, but he's not this bad at all. The class is hard but what Stat class isn't? Explains the material well. Attendance is manadory b/c you will be terribly confused if you miss class. Homework: It is a lot of work, but it is the key to passing. If he sees you are trying, he will give you the benefit of the doubt.

Professor Vakilian is a great teacher. I don't really know why a lot of people don't like him, because he will explain everything very clearly. Makes a somewhat tricky subject fairly easy. Tests are identical to his practice tests (do those and you will do fine). One big group project that actually wasn't that hard. Do NOT miss any lectures!!

Stats is not an easy class, but he helps you in every way that he can. I had taken this class before and failed it, now that i took it with him i got a C. Homework is a must it helps your grade out like crazy. Attending class is important because you don't want to miss anything. And you actually learned so much. i liked this class at the end.

I think he is a decent teacher. He is clear and tests are very fair...could be much harder. My only complaint is that he takes forever to return your work. We took the second test before we ever got back the first.

He is not your friend, he is not a funny guy, he is a teacher and that is exactly what he does.TEACH! Take good notes and do online quizzes and you are set! He's actually not as bad as people say. The material itself is just difficult. The class requires a lot of hard work. Tests and quizzes are pretty fair. He has his lecture notes online so you can pay more attention while in class. But its true that it takes him a while to return papers. So just keep bugging him about it and you'll get them back

Great professor. Took him for Differential Equations and couldnt have been happpier. His tests & quizzes were more than fair so long as you did the homework. I would def take him again if I had to take any more math classes!

Awesome professor. Very clear and precise when writing on the board. Very helpful during office hours and he has all assignments and help with the homework posted on his website. Quizzes and exams all based on homework, no tricks.

I hate math but this professor was helpful and clear during his lectures.He has HW solutions on his website and even has practice quizzes and exams there too.If you don't ask questions and don't do the HW's, you will be lost. Stats is no joke.

Great stats professor! he has everything you need on his website. His exams are about the same as the practice ones on his website, and he lets you have a 3x5 flashcard on the tests.

He is an amazing professor. He curves a lot, he lets you use flashcards on quizes,exams and final. His test have like 5-6 problems with almost a-k but they are not hard and if you made good flashcards you will have no problems. Take him!

Great professor! I haven't had this good of a math teacher since the 7th grade. He is super helpful and pretty much gives you the step by step process in doing problems and he let's you use a 3by5 flashcard for quizzes and test. Always clears any questions you have, but you must attend to get anything that is going on, those who didn't show failed.

Best math teacher I've ever had. Attendance is so important because every lecture is something new. He tells you what will be on the exams and his exam questions are usually homework questions or in class examples. Do all the homework because it's extra credit and definitely go to his office hours he's so helpful.

I found the overall course pretty difficult, but that was do to the subject not the professor. There weren't really any flaws in his teaching style or his grading methods. One of the best math professors I have taken. Although I got a C, I'm pretty sure I could have obtained an A if I worked a little harder.

The professor is really nice! He helps A LOT, he's very organized, and is very thorough in explaining things. He doesn't skip anything, which I personally like. However, the concept of the class is very hard to grasp. If taking this class set aside a great amount of time for studying. Take it with Vakilian though, he's better than the others.

He is difficult, but consistent. He speaks at a high level, and expects a lot out of his students. In that way, he is very good. If you enjoy a challenge, take his class. Sometimes he doesn't understand questions in class. I would suggest asking him during his office hours, where he is relaxed. Outside of class he is patient with questions.

I took him for stats my freshman year and I really liked him. He shows everything step by step and does get annoyed if u don't understand but he still explains it to you until you understand. Homework is extra credit but if you study his notes you should get A's on test because the problems are distinguishable!! Highly recommend

Vakilian really made stats a breeze. You get an index card for every quiz and test he has and 3 index cards for the final which is cumulative. You have a lab with student instructors, they help A LOT. Class is mandatory or you'll be completely lost. You have weekly homework but it counts as extra credit. He goes step by step for every problem.

Great professor! Plain and simple : do the homework , review lecture notes, ask for clarification, and most importantly go to class (there is a new topic every class session) Best stats professor and class. This comes from a guy that hates math and was never any good at it until I took his class. Hate math? Take him. Best choice.

Great stats professor. His notes are very clear and he's pretty straightforward. Homework is not mandatory but do it, it helps a lot, same for the group work. He lets you use a flashcard on the tests too. The grading scale is very curved so it's easy to get an A (80-100). I would recommend.

A bit monotonous, but very clear in his explanations. Ask questions because he'll answer either in class or go to his office hours. He's also very flexible and understanding; I had to reschedule a quiz and a midterm due to career-related events. Pretty tough grader, so watch out when solving your problems. Do the HW several times for practice!

don't skip class! and you need to study or else you won't pass! i took ap stat in hs and I've always been good at math but this class is very challenging! last years passing rate was 59%. study and ask questions! go to tutoring ! take SI!

Take him! I've always struggled a bit with math, and was nervous about taking stats for the first time ever, but Vakilian is a great professor. The class is super easy as long as you study your notes. Kind of monotonous, but he's clear in his explanations, works everything out step by step and encourages questions. Grading is curved (80% A)

One of my favorite professors, very strict but if you follow what he says you'll leave the class mastering the material. I like the mindset that he instills into students, that is, don't settle for mediocrity in your work. Show up and try really hard and he'll pass you.

I took his class freshman year. He is a bit slow on explaining the formulas and everything, which could work for some people but it did not work for me. I would doze off because he was just too slow. His tests are easy. If you have a question he will answer it, he is literally asking if there any questions every three minutes.

Professor Ramin Vakilian is one of the best Professors you'll ever know, he is very clear with the lectures. 2 midterms ,5 quizzes, and a final which are identical to the homework he gives. He gives extra credit for students who attends so don't miss a class. He also curve . Definitely recommend him!

Greatest professor! He curves everything which is great! Just make sure you go to class because he takes role and that counts for your grade. Homework every time you meet and quizzes are based off of the homework. I would def. recommend him

Take this professor He is the best! Takes your effort into consideration. If you actually want to pass, you will. By far the best professor I have ever had for a math class! He made the material possible to comprehend. I was really nervous about taking his class, especially since i was repeating the course. However, not only did i pass the course but i ended up with one of the highest grades in the class!

Professor Vakilian is an amazing professor! He is great to take if math isn't your strongest subject. He is very clear on his teaching and teaches step by step. Throughout the whole semester he tells you whats going to be on the tests and final. The textbook isn't necessary, but buying a course code is. Take good notes because they will help you.

The book is not necessary to get just the online code from my experience. Everything is online. If you show up to every class you receive extra credit at the end of the semester. Showing up during lectures and studying will get you the grade you deserve.

I had Dr. Vakilian when I was an undergrad and now that I am in grad school I appreciate him and his lectures even more. Dr. Vakilian is very organized and he is a very good lecturer. Quizzes are fair. He prepares you for higher courses. DO NOT miss a class!

He makes statistics easy. The class is straight forward. There are no midterms or anything just quizzes and online homework. Don't purchase the book you wont use it. I dont know why he has such ow ratings, he is such a kind man and a great lecturer. I would take any math course with this man, even though I hate math. He is that great.

He jokes during lecture. He is a very sweet guy who is strict about grading. Quizzes are easy just have to know the material.

Professor Vakilian is the greatest professor/teacher I can say Ive ever had. I took stats in high school and I was completely lost. I was scared to take it again in college and I ended up getting an A. I had to sit in the front which definitely helped me succeed. Vakilian is great at explaining and assuring you understand. Show up everyday for EC.

I honestly think he is the best math professor in CSUN! He explains everything you need for the quizzes and the final! Teaches you how to do EVERYTHING step by step. If you fail his class that's on you!

One of the best math professors I've ever had. Professor Vakilian did his best to explain the material in the simplest way he could and only taught us material that would be on the final and quizzes. It's important to only focus on his lecture notes! Do not study stuff from your SI class, just focus on lecture notes. If you study you'll be fine.

Professor Vakilian is soooo underlooked! Such an easy class he gives extra credit for attending class! He makes sure you understand the material his lectures help you on your hw and your quizzes. No midterm!!!!! Only a final and about 8 quizzes throughout the semester.

He is really knowledgeable about what he teaches he will go step by step through problems until you understand the problems. Doesn't really give a lot of work you show up to class take notes because everything he puts on the board is on the quizzes. Has weekly homework but it's what you learned in class that day, buy the code it comes with an ebook

Professor Vakilian is great. Im not a math person my high school did not prepare me for such heavy material. Vakilian made it easy. His homework is easy but a lot. Try to get 100 on all itll help your grade. Quizzes are about 7, I got a B on nearly all will help your grade! I sat up front to get everything and also not fall asleep!Dont missclass!

Our grade was based on Homework and Quizzes which were about every two weeks. The Quizzes are very similar to homework and lecture notes. There are no surprise questions. He is organized and replies to emails. He explains concepts well and is willing to offer extra help for students during office hours.
