Never saw the professor, so can't comment on her teaching style. But her special computer-based psy 101 class is retardedly easy. On the first day, she'll brag about how ~80% of her students get an A. But note that this is not because they understand the material, but because its so ridiculously simple. I took the final 4 weeks early...

101 is a cool class if you're an overachiever or at least don't mind reading on your own. The TAs are great. The tests have absolutely no critical thinking involved, but at least you can take each test 4 times a week. Potential proctors: It's easy credit if you have the time and don't mind doing 1 on 1 sessions every once in a while.

Wierd class! The procters and all of the TA's were great, they made the subject interesting. The book is horrible! I think I read 1 chapter all semester, just pay attention in discussions and take the quiz at least 2 times a week! Though, if I were to retake the class, I would take the lecture class, not the "web-based" class.

I have mixed feelings about this course; If you have self-discipline, then you could easily get an A, but the way the course is structured, it is hard to have discipline. I had an interest in Psychology until I took this course, unfortunately- and I believe the only purpose of this course is to get students better grades, not to teach them.

This professor doesn't teach class, she actually has TAs teach class and the students get to sign up weekly for their lecture class and quiz time. You get to choose which TA you want to learn with and the time you want. This makes the class more personal and there are lots of opportunities for extra credit in this class which is good.

Dr. Houmanfar herself doesn't teach the class, she has a number of TA's do it. You schedule your own lectures and tests but you can retake the weekly quizzes, and homework. As long as you do the HW, lecture, and quiz once a week it's really easy to pass. The class itself isn't hard, they lay out everything, all you have to do is give some effort.

She gets her TAs to teach instead of her, lecture heavy and it's all pure memorization. Exam questions are extremely specific and confusing. Don't take unless you're a psych major

It's inconvenient how I signed up for her class to fit in my schedule only to find out it was going the “SPIN” system. She made it out to be a very good system but I disagree. The TA's teach everything and the TA's in the quiz room are supposed to help you but sometimes don't even know the answer to the question. Could Be done a lot better.

Unless you like how SPIN works and your a psychology major, don't take this class. I didn't learn anything and it was very hard to get through.

everything depends on her TA. Honestly, there's only few interesting topic but towards the end is sooo boring you'll easily lost interest unless you're a psych major. you also need to remember every right answer to your quizzes cuz some questions there will be in the midterms and final exams.

Awful all around. Teaching depends on the TA. Lectures are confusing and long. The tests are hard for no reason. The testing center for the weekly quizzes is a nightmare. Houmanfar does absolutely nothing, saw her once on the first day, then never saw her again.

Saw her twice in the entire semester. Class was completely run by ta's and used the SPIN system. Of a few emails I sent her, she never responded. I learned nothing the entire class

She was never there. She had the TA's teach everything. Would have been nice to know before signing up for the class. The tests are super hard and the homework is just a lot to do.I wouldn't take her class again. And wouldn't recommend it either.

She doesn't teach the actual course. You only meet her the first week & never see her again. TAs are great for the most part. Everything is scheduled on your own time (lecture, chapter test, exam). The material itself isn't the worst.

She uses a system where TAs teach the whole time and you schedule your own lecture times. It's not a terrible system, but I feel as though it's hard to learn anything through that system since it's one lecture a week then a test then you move on. There is barely any review only during the midterm and final exam.

Would take again

She has TA's teach the class after the first week so it's actually pretty easy. You get to make your own scheduled with this class meeting once a week. Honestly as long as you do the bare minimum with the assignments you'll breeze through the class.
