The greatest professor anyone could ever have

WOW! If you just watch this guy work you can't help but be in awe! Any negative comments in this section do not match the high regard the great majority of students place on this great professor. Lives have been changed...mine in particular...because of him. He has convinced me that a female can become a CEO if she wants...and I will!!

Dean Blum is the best Professor at Drake period! He really cares about your success. He teaches you information that you'll actually use in the real world. By far the best Professor I've ever had by far. Take as many classes with Dean Blum as possible!

Dean Blum ranks easily in the top 10 most valuable people to Drake in history. One could not find a more extraordinary individual. An air of passion and intensity exudes from him with every word and he has the ability to make you feel as though you are the only person in the world who matters at that moment. His classes are excellent! TAKE THEM!

This guy is the man. An extremely valuable asset to Drake University and the best teacher hands down during my 4 years of experience. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him, do everything you can to take it (including sacrificing your first born)

Dean Blum is one of the most genuine guys on the planet. If you don't like him as a person the you did something really stupid or are just an unhappy individual. One of the most fun energetic people on campus. He is successful, knows how to help you become successful, and has many important friends. Become his friend.

I finished all of my homework that last week of the semester and he didnt care. The coolest prof ever.

This is the best class that I have taken at Drake so far! I was worried about taking speech, but you don't give pointless speeches in the class- only ones that apply to business applications. Definitely take this class if you can, Dean Blum is the best.

Do yourself a favor and take this class. Not only is Blum one of the most engaging teachers at Drake but the class itself is straight-forward and useful in the real world. No worthless assignments or speeches, just practical work that actually has a point and a real application.

It's hard to put into words the value of this course. Every single week it's a mini-seminar in career planning. I know more about resumes, interviewing, and networking now than my brother who is a senior at another college. I chose Drake because of the focus on a job after college and I haven't been disappointed. Top-notch course and professor.

Nothing compares to BUS 073 with this guy - by far the best class I've taken at Drake - what I've learned and what I've done is priceless. I chose Drake because I met Dean Blum and now I feel blessed to have been inspired, encouraged, and trained by him for the future. Please take this course!! I guarantee you will share my enthusiasm one day.

BUS073 is one of the most beneficial classes I have ever taken. It requires a lot of work, but it is 100% worth it in my opinion. I could literally see myself becoming an elite presenter throughout the semester. And it doesn't get much better then Dean Blum. No one cares more or does more for their students then this man. He wants you to succeed!

Every week I'm amazed at the amount of helpful information we are receiving in this course. We are so lucky at Drake to have someone who has actually been in the business world dedicated each week to our success. Last week Dean Blum even came to our sorority to help the girls with their future careers and business success. He is amazing!!

They promised that if I joined the College of Business I would be exposed to career help and direction from the very first year. They kept their promise - a great course taught by someone who knows. It's nice when someone keeps their promise.

Best teacher you will ever have..ever..i learned so much about public speaking and became so comfortable with it..there are alot of speeches and outlines for that week's guided reading that are due every week and its a little time consuming but take the class..he's great..

If you happen to be a new student to Drake searching for an FYS instructor, you can't match Dean Blum. His FYS "Interpersonal Communications" taught me more in one semester about myself and communicating with others than I've learned in my whole life. Ask anyone who has taken it!!

Dean Blum has been very helpful in making this first week at Drake go well. He is a professor with a big heart and all the girls on my floor talk about his great advice in BUS 001. I'm looking forward to the rest of the semester.

Dean Blum is the only teacher that can teach this class effectively. You learn more about public speaking then you ever think you could. He doesn't force it down your throat, he makes sure you understand it. Take what you learn in lecture to lab, do your book reviews, and your almost guaranteed an A.

BUS73 was a great class!! Very engaging and fun while challenging and packed full of valuable and relevant material. Of all the business classes I've taken so far, this one has taught me the most about business fundamentals.

Straightforward about expectations for presentations. Willing to help. Offers great feedback. Around 10 presentations to complete. Intimidating class, but easy if you put in the time.

Dean Blum was a very important part of my choosing Drake. We met last year and instead of trying to sell me on Drake he spent the entire time talking about me and my goals for the future. He is very generous with his time - always available to work with anyone. He is even the faculty advisor of our sorority. This was an awesome class.

The course was clearly about students - our strengths and how we could use them in the future. Most amazing to me was Dean Blums willingness to be available on weekends to help us. You're lucky if you have Dean Blum for BUS 073 this year. I've already graduated but just had to tell all of you that I have used SO MUCH of what I learned in BUS 073 in my current job. No joke - my manager thinks I'm an amazing presenter but it all came from BUS 073. Do well in this course because you are lucky to have it.

I'm in the course now and can agree with everything being said. We just finished making a presentation to a CEO...talk about a great experience. Can't think of a single course at Drake that tops this one!

All of us are amazed at what we learned and accomplished in BUS 002 this semester. I'm only a freshman, yet I know more about finding my career than my brother at another college who is a junior. Everyone on my freshmen floor feels the same way. Dean Blum has prepared us well especially with those mock interviews.

Dean Blum has continued to remind us for the past three years about the importance of our future. And now my best friend and I are in the middle of big time summer internships thanks to his direct support. Both she and I are so glad we followed his advice. This professor always gets right to the point and puts his students first.

Now I understand why this professor and course was recommended by so many. Dean Blum respects us and is so exited to help us do well. He has a family of his own but it seems like we are also part of his family. I'm looking forward to Fridays because of this professor.

Went into this class hating to speak in front of a group and left the class totally changed. My confidence is way up and Dean Blum is the reason. My roomy had the exact same experience last semester. She landed an internship as a result of this class. It's not like any other class at Drake.

This is my first time on this site but needed to tell you that my life has changed as a result of this professor. I graduated two weeks ago with two majors and a career which I love so much. All of this because of Dean Blum's constant reminders and encouragement. I owe him and I'm not the only one.

Parent of a Drake student, but so pleased with our interactions with Mr. Blum and his approach to the Business students that I had to rate him. Always seems to care about the students and making sure they succeed. Seems willing to do what it takes to make sure of that too. Glad my student is at Drake instead of 1000 miles closer to home.

BUS 73 just ended. It was an amazing experience because I hate to speak in front of a group. But the class was so supportive and helpful that suddenly I became confident in doing this. Don't know exactly how it happened but I'm not alone. My roommate was also in the class and she feels the same. Everyone at Drake should take this course.

BUS 003 was my introduction to the business school after starting in psychology. I'm hooked and will never leave thanks to this course and Dean Blum. It was organized and current but my favorite part was the amazing tips on how to become a professional. My roommate who isn't a business major wished she could take it.

BUS 002 taught me how to prepare for my career - resume, job search, interviewing, and even negotiation. For anyone to say this course wasn't worth it is someone with no future in mind. He is awesome, just ask anyone in the college.

I was so scared going into this course but coming out I am more confident and eager to give presentations than I ever thought possible. This is my fourth year in the business school and I will always look back with respect for Dean Blum. From first-year to graduation this year, he has always been available to answer any question or give any advice. I give him total credit for the job I'm so excited to start next week. I have to agree with other comments here because this course and professor changed everything for me. Before taking this course I HATED talking in front of a group. I would get sick. But now I am confident in doing this and it has helped in my internship.
