Passionate about the topic that he teaches. I found the class interesting. He's willing to work with you. I would suggest taking this professor.

Professor knows what he's speaking about, does not push his own views and attempts to hold intelligent debate and discourse. If you take in the lectures and ask questions, there is no way you can not do well in his class.

Truly my favorite professor! Attendance and reading self evaluated at the end of the course. Prof Engle is a real person and classes are not confined to a syllabus. I retained a great amount of information from his lectures. Take notes on key figures and ideas. Our final consisted of mainly essays which seemed easy for almost everyone.

BEST prof! His class was so fun and so easy to understand- 3 two page papers, a midterm, & a final. (Easy grader) He made class interesting so I never wanted to skip, and he's funny! I made sure to sign up for another class he taught after this! Don't buy the book. We never used it. PS- We got snacks every class! Great class. LOVE HIM. TAKE HIM!!!!

I have nothing but praises when it comes to Randy Engle. His class was a great experience. He truly knows what he's talking about and doesn't try to shove the religion down anyone's throat. He's so knowledgeable and makes class really interesting. He's funny and makes class fun. He's quick to remember his student's names. All around great guy.

He mentions on the first day that you need the book, but you never use it unless you study on your own from it. I wouldn't recommend buying it unless you never show up to class, but even then you won't need it because he reviews what was gone over in the previous class period every day, and there's a review before the midterm and final.

Really laid back/easy class. He lectures, and you take notes, but it's not boring. He's funny and makes class interesting. You write two 2-4 page papers, and one longer 8-15 page reasearch paper, but they're not bad, and he's an easy grader. He also has reviews before the midterm and final so you know what to expect. Great class and professor.

Fun and pretty easy class. You don't need the book even though he says you do. Never used it in or outside class. Just take notes when he lectures. Even if you miss a lecture, he goes over what was talked about in class the next day so those who missed class can catch up. He's a good guy who really cares about his students. Funny guy too. Loved him so much for REL 103 I had to take him again! Grade consists of a midterm, a non-cumulative final, & one 8 page paper. His class is so much fun because he is so much fun. If you show up to class and pay attention to his lectures that are not boring then you don't need to waste $$$ on the book. He also offers extra credit! Highly reccomend!

Loved Prof. Engle! He was so fun to be around. You do have to attend class. Most of the notes are from his lectures. He explains things so well. There is only the midterm and final. Final is not cumulative. Make sure you read your books. Would definitely take him again. Gives quite a bit of extra credit!

LOVED having Dr. Engle! Class included an optional extra credit paper, a movie guide, 1 mandatory paper, a midterm, a non cumulative final, and a presentation. There was food at every class and the lectures were very interesting. Would definitely take any class he teaches! A very nice guy!

I love Professor Engle. I had little to no religion background going into the class and I passed. He makes lectures fun and interesting. Paperpresentation (your choice) can be tough so pick a topic you are sure you can do. Take good notes and study them before exams and you will pass no problem. Also, the snack list is great if people follow it!

I did not know a lot about any other religions but my own! He taught in a fun and exciting way. His enthusiastic character made the class interesting and one wanting to attend. He teaches each religion with respect and an unbiased opinion.

Professor Engle is an amazing professor. He is down to earth and extremely funny. Favorite Prof at OU, His teachings are very clear and easy to understand. 1 5-10 question reading quiz every 2-3 weeks that is extremely easy. 1 midterm and 1 final. 2 assignments the whole term. 1st is a mandatory paper and 2nd is either paper or movie reading guide

I really like Professor Engle. He's very funny, cares a lot about his students, has clear expectations for those taking his class, and is a very knowledgeable guy. If you have the opportunity, take a class from this man. You'll be glad that you did.

Second time taking Prof. Engle. He is probably the best professor at OU. He is funny, kind, and is super passionate about religion since he is a pastor. 3-4 reading quizzes, 2 exams, and a church visit paper and presentation. None of which were difficult at all. If you show up, take good notes, and retain the info then you will pass.

Probably my favorite prof! We had snacks every day, lectures were interesting. A decent amount of extra credit opportunities. Only a midterm and a final (final is only on second half of class). One paper and a church visit presentation+paper. There are also quizzes but they're really easy.

Prof. Engle is a great professor. He takes the time to get to know students. His class is very clear, he says exactly what he expects, and he is more than willing to help.

My favorite professor at OU! Took a 200 level class knowing nothing about him and loved it, so I took 351 as an elective just so I could have him again; he's that good. You will definitely learn something from his engaging classes, and will probably grow as a person, too. I cannot recommend Dr. Engle enough.

Randy is a very unique professor. He always came to class in a good mood, and was very nice and caring with his students. He doesn't mind cracking a joke once in awhile, but he also knows how to spend the whole class getting work done. I had a lot of fun taking one of his Honors College classes this past winter. Would recommend.

Dr. Engle is a phenomenal instructor. Apart from having a strong knowledge of History, he was able to teach it very well, and relate it to Downton Abbey! He is incredibly helpful and approachable. Not only did I leave the class having a new perspective on nobility/peerage, Dr. Engle actually convinced me to travel to England!

A MUST TAKE! Prof Engle is the best OU has to offer. HE'S AMAZING. His lectures are spectacular. If all the other professors were like him, then America would triumph in education. LOVE HIM. He opens your eyes to see the future with a bright view. If you give effort, then there is no reason you can't achieve an A! Definitely worthy of recognition.

Engle made subjects, like religious beliefs, that can be very tricky and personal, and made them easy to understand and interesting. The book is his lecture notes put into a booklet. The lectures were entertaining, easy to follow, and covered all of the necessary materials needed to do very well in the class.

One of the best, made Religion interesting for me. Fun group projects, entertaining lectures and snacks every day. He is dedicated to his students and is very helpful when answering questions. Took this class for my gen ed requirement, do not regret it. Take him if you want to learn about many religions in an excepting environment!

Amazing professor!! I was nervous taking this class but couldn't be happier that I did. His lectures are interesting, he allowed us to discuss everythong freely and we got snacks every class! Take the project seriously, it's fun but time consuming. You can do it as a group, so ask him about it. He really cares about his job and his students!!!

If you need to take a religion class for an elective take any of his classes. I have been in both REL103 and REL351. Professor engle makes class enjoyable to go to and he will do anything to help you succeed. I havent had a class with him in over a year and to this day i still use him as a reference. Best professsor at oakland.

I LOVE Engle! He's hilarious, wants you to succeed, & makes lectures interesting. He doesn't read off slides, he lectures & gives you his reader in lieu of a textbook (which he hates).Short reading quizzes, noncumulative midterm & final, 2 papers, a church visit, & extra credit. Responds quick by email. Will take his other class all about Genesis!

Professor Engle did an outstanding job as a professor. He put effort into getting to know every student personally, and he went out of his way to ensure that everyone succeeded. I would highly recommend taking one of his courses.

Dr. Engle always makes class fun and the topics were always interesting. If you go and listen during class you won't even need to study because he makes it very memorable. A very funny teacher so go in with a sense of humor. He offers extra credit a lot in an already easy class. I would take him for every class if he taught them all. My GPA wishes!

There really are no words to describe what it is like here. Dr Engle's focus is helping their students become distinguished leaders. One of the best Professors I have ever met. Dr. Engle is AMAZING! This was my second time taking him, and I would take him again if I could. He lectures are very interesting and he knows so much about the topic material. Hands down best professor I've ever had. He made going to my 8am fun! He's absolutely hilarious and his lectures are also super interesting. I would take his class again. He doesn't count attendance, but showing up is worth it!

He's a very interesting guy with a lot to give. Take as many classes as you can with him because he talks about events and topics that actually matter in relation to your subject. We didn't have that many quizzes, only two projects and a final.

I wish he taught ALL religion courses, once he let me skip out on a resentation becuase of my doctors excuse and even gave me a passing grade for it. JUST TAKE HIM!!!

Engle cancels a lot, but on the rare Friday that we have class, we always take some sort of amazing field trip. You can see his passion for his subject in every word he speaks. But he cares MOST about making sure students bond with each other and have a good time while learning, so he's an easy grader and gets talked down from big projects easily.

Great Professor! Had him for more than one class and would take him for more classes if I could. Very fun and makes class so interesting. I looked forward to his class every day; he makes everything understandable and easy enough.

Dr. Engle is, without a doubt, the GOAT. He truly cares for his students in and outside of class. I highly recommend taking Dr. Engle if you want to truly grasp and understand the information he presents. Overall a great lecturer, funny guy, and manageable coursework. He is by far the best professor I've had in my 4 years at Oakland.

I took his Intro to Christianity class just for one of my electives, but I loved him so much that I'm taking another class he teaches just because he teaches it! We literally had snack time every day in class where people would rotate bringing in food for everyone. He is so funny and makes everything so interesting. He truly cares about you. Take!!

I took Dr. Engles Religion in Modern Society course and I can honestly say it was one of the best classes Ive taken at OU. His lectures are great and full of fun trivia. Theres a bit of reading, quizzes, midterm, project, and a final but its all totally manageable. He sometimes cancels class, and theres snacks everyday. Overall fun environment

Dr. Engle is by far the best teacher at OU. Even if you're not interested in Christianity or religion I would recommend the class. He's very entertaining and is very easy to reach. He always let my class out about 15 minutes early in order to "beat the traffic" and made sure there were snacks every day.

Absolutely great professor. Had him for Edwardian England where we met at Meadowbrook Hall. Dr. Engle made the lectures fun and interesting. All of us loved coming to class everyday because it felt more like a break from school than a class. Material was enjoyable and he made it a really fun environment to be in. Take him if you can!!

Dr. Engle is the kind of professor who actually cares about his students and what they can take away from his classes. He makes learning fun, and I actually want to go to class when he is teaching. YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS COURSE. You get to see London in a way you never could without it. I am so thankful I took this opportunity!

My minor was undecided until I took him. He is by far the best professor out there and truly cares about what he is teaching. He has quizzes every Monday, (drops the lowest) a midterm, final, and a group project! The group project was not that bad since we were able to have as many people as we wanted! Take his class you will not regret it!

Dr. Engle is the best professor Oakland University has to offer. Be sure to sign up for his Cross & Crown Class that takes a 2 week trip to London. You will not experience London, England better then the way Dr. Engle presents it. If you have the pleasure of taking any of his classes you will want to take more.

He really knew the subject he was teaching, he made learning fun and engaging. He also had everyone sign up to bring a snack each day so we always had food in class. He was a tough grader on the first paper but offered a lot of extra credit and the choice to resubmit it. Very personalized setting and had a lot of passion for the subject.

One of my favorite professors at OU, very interesting, funny, and a good mix of seriousness and joking. I actually enjoyed his lectures. For my class he made his own book instead of making us buy an expensive textbook for the class. I highly recommend him.

One of the best professors I've taken at OU. He makes his lectures really interesting. He also lets students take turns bringing in snacks for the class which is nice. The class is very straightforward. You'd be making a mistake not taking him for REL1250 if one of his sections are open.

Interesting guy but super easy class. Everyday was different and always kept the class entertained. Small quizzes every week but usually reviews at the end of each class. There is snacks every class and he lets you out early... "we start on time so we can finish early," as he would say. Felt like being in High school again in his class.

TALE HIM HE IS AMAZING! Had him for an intro to Christianity online course and it was so easy and fun! Learned a lot, posted lectures on YouTube so there was no attendance. No homework at all except for one worksheet and tests are EASY! Easy A, one of the best professors at OU. You can tell he truly cares about students and his lectures. 10/10 love

Such an amazing and fun professor. No exams in this class, it's mainly essays, but the essays are on interesting and easy topics.

I wanted to love this class so bad. Engle does a great job at engaging you in his lectures and he really knows his stuff, but be prepared for your grade to suffer over very minor things. He is a VERY picky grader & has no problem knocking you down 5 points or so for minor errors like spelling one word incorrectly or not using the phrasing he likes.

His classes are always easy... if you show up and put forth some effort. He makes his classes so engaging you don't realize how much you've learned. He can be picky, but is always fair. Very fun professor in and out of the classroom - take advantage of his knowledge. He always says "I work for you," so make sure you get the grade you want.

Cant say enough about Dr. Engle. I've had some profs I've loved but he's easily been an A+++ prof & my favorite I've had. He has a huge passion for Christianity and teaches the material so well. He loves to talk & engage with students, has great/amazing/funny lectures, & is so easy to talk to. Watch & study the micro lectures & you'll get an A.

Has to be the best professor and the best class in all OU. The class was honestly such a fun and joyful experience. We went on mini field trips, we did small lectures once a week and a quiz weekly. The quizzes are simple, just based on the lectures which makes participation REALLY IMPORTANT! I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Engle!

Easy weekly quizzes that are based off his very entertaining Micro-lectures, two exams, and a project. He was amazingggg!! I enjoyed his class throughout the entire semester. I did well on most quizzes bc the material he was lecturing ab was so interesting that it was hard to not remember. He did his lectures like he was telling a story. I was actually quite sad when the class ended, my best one this semester and Im not even a religion major lol

REL-1250 was by far my favorite class this semster because of professor Engle. He made it fun, interesting, and very manageable for a college student. He is also very hiliarious so that's a plus. Very caring guy, and you can tell he loves his job. Would 100% recommend him to others and I would take another class with him!!!

Dr. Engle is amazing! I've taken multiple classes and can guarantee you will enjoy his class and lectures. I highly recommend attending lectures; they are engaging and you will need to know the information for weekly quizzes. I initially took his class to get a Gen Ed out of the way, but his classes sparked my interest in theology!

This class was relatively simple and easy. The only assignment that counted toward your grade was 5 quizzes, 2 assignments, 1 paper and the final. Overall, decent class.

I took a reformation class with Dr. Engle for a gen ed and I was loathing it. It seemed so boring, but little did I know it would become my favorite class. Dr. Engle is so personable and teaches you so much- not only religion but history, vocab, and fun facts. If I could give him a 6/5, I would.

If you need an honors college credit, take a class with Professor Engle. His lectures are very interesting and engaging. I learned so much about theology! There are weekly quizzes, but they aren't difficult if you review your notes. He includes an extra credit question or two in each quiz as well. He truly wants you to enjoy the class.

Professor Engle assigned weekly quizzes, a midterm and final exam, and offered extra credit opportunities. It was easy to absorb the material, and he made the class fun. He also had snacks every class and a pizza party before the final exam. Highly recommend.

BEST OU PROF EVER. I have had Dr. Engle for 4 diff classes (HC2010,2040,2050,REL3140) and I wish I could take more with him. He is hilarious and dedicated to his craft and his students. Professor Engle is by far my FAVORITE professor here at OU. His lectures are outstanding and he is so helpful when you have questions. This class was my favorite this semester and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone! Weekly quizzes, video lectures, two exams and a project. 10/10 would take another of his classes!

Dr. Engle was great lots of lectures but watchable didn't go on for way too long. Grade is mostly based on quizzes and a couple assignments. Final exam draws from material from other quizzes. Very easy class highly rec.

Dr. Engle was one of the best professor I've had at OU. I was just taking it for the gen ed credit however, Dr. Engle was so passionate about the material and made the lectures so interesting to listen to that I actually started caring. Very lenient on due dates, none of the assignments were super hard. If I could give him a 6/5 I would.

There were weekly tests that were easy if you read the books. Prof. Engle brought a different snack to class every week. He made the discussions enjoyable, and everything was lighthearted. I would take more classes with him. If you are interested in the lit topic he is teaching, take the class.

Oh my gosh, this guy is awesome. for this being my first year in college, I had the GREATEST experience in his class. This was for a credit but like honestly, it was so fun and easy and he is funny as well. Woudl recommend to anyone

I LOVED HIM. He is so funny he has the class laughing the whole time. Genuinely loves his job and it's so clear through his enthusiasm he brings every class. He brought snacks every class and kept it lighthearted, but also had very meaningful conversations. I couldn't recommend him enough, he really cares about making his students lives easier

Professor Engle is easily my favorite professor here at OU. He truly cares about what he teaches and always gives you a reason to remember what he teaches. Whether it be jokes or calling you out by name jokingly in the middle of a lecture, I always remember what he teaches in the class. Also has online lectures for every single topic covered.

Overall, he is a good professor. When he taught religion during class, I found some things to be offensive and incorrect as a member of that faith. He said things that were blatantly untrue. However, he is funny and engaging, offers extra credit, snacks, drinks, and engaging activities, and if you come to class and participate, you will get an A.

What an amazing teacher! He is like the bacon of teachers, or if your vegetarian, the grass of teachers. Great discussions, always a good time, and he actually gets you interested in the subject matter. By far my favorite teacher here at OU and only wish I could have failed so I could take it again.

Dr. Engle is hands down my favorite professor at OU. Engaging, entertaining, and even brings snacks throughout the semester. The only class I've ever taken where I'm genuinely excited about showing up to class. Little homework, video lectures on moodle, just make sure you're attentive during the lectures. This class is absolute cinema, 11/10
