Funny professor but sometimes he's not sure of what he is talking about. If you are looking to take an easy class then this might be it but if you want to REALLY learn about all the religions then this class is not it for you. He is biased in a lot of his teachings, and applies a lot of his own opinions.

Professor Firestone's class is easy, take notes and you'll be fine. As far as covering major world religions he doesn't do an adequate job because he omits Christianity. He is extremely biased. Isn't very open to question. Ex-lawyer. I grew to like him.

He's cool. I'm not gung-ho about any specific religion but I do agree with others that he is bias. I learned some things but I could have gotten more out if he was less opinionated and if more people shared their thoughts. I only heard 3-4 of the same people talk every class. It gets kind of boring after a while but sometimes it gets interesting.

Took Philosophy of Literature with him. Great with lectures. Clearly knows what he's talking about and is open to all related questions and viewpoints. Homework is worth 10% so it's almost entirely negligible, though it saves grades. Study HARD for the exams though, not because they're hard, but because they're worth so damn much!!

You can tell he cares about his students and about philosophy. If your goal is to learn, take this class. His lectures are very clear. If your goal is an easy A, it's still not even that hard. There are daily reading assignments, but they're fairly short and worth very little. Pay attention during class, study for tests, and you'll be fine.

The course is interesting, and hes a good prof, but if you want unbiased information, find a different prof. He mentions his published works a lot and his test questions include his name. Also, on 2 separate occasions he wasnt fact checking his lecture, and when he was fact checked, he didnt change it or seem to care.

I would just say be very careful if you take this. Be prepared to think dynamically, give your absolute best and still get low grades. I don't understand the grading criteria, my best guess is if you don't regurgitate verbatim what he says, you lose a letter or even two. Your thinking sucks. It seemed like the really smart kids did great however.
