He does not have a fair way of grading students and his class is much then if should be (International Fin)
Explains very clearly and straight-forward.
Difficult class, lots of material covered and grading is 50% midterm, 50% final (cumulative!!!)...don't recommend taking this class with him.
He has changed his grading policy so that the midterm and final are not the only components of the final grade. His lectures are very informative and, i think, very important to actually attend. The workload is not too bad, either.
Not bad but you need to show up and take good notes. Knows a lot about subject matter & has lots of experience.
THis professor can't teach or explain. His lectures are boring. Please people do not take this class. Me and the hundreds of students who have had this professor have experienced having a grade of an A, but our final grade prooved to be D's or F's.
BORING TEACHER, NEVER RESPONDS TO E-MAILS! FAIR GRADER BUT VERY LATE ON GRADING!! LECTURES ARE NOT CLEAR AND HARD TO FOLLOW, SO PREPARE TO STUDY A LOT ON YOUR OWN IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE! WORKED VERY VERY VERY HARD FOR THE GRADE I GOT!!!

I learned a lot in the class but he kind of a jerk. Very stingy with points. Gives 10% for blackboard quizzes 5% for disussion and homework each. Midterm and Final are 40% each. Expects 10 hours a week of dedication to this course to get an A and he is correct.
Very hard, and very cheap with arading points. Requires u 2 spend 10 hrs a week 2 get an A. u do have 2 study alot. Final is cummulative, his exams r hard. 40$midterm,40%final,10%quizes(each week),10%hw and discussions
Terrible teacher, spends more time cracking stupid jokes then teaching. You dont know when he is serious or not and he always makes everyone stay late. I taught everything to myself and the midterm and final were brutal
This class was ridiculous. Your expected to teach yourself everything from the book. In addition, after each class you have a quiz of around 30 problems to do on blackboard. In addition to that you have probably 5 or 6 extended homework problems from the book to do. I spent over 15 hours a week on his class and still had to drop half way through.
stay away from this professor...he does not care at all about the students
If at all possible avoid this professor. I worked at least 20 hours a week for this class. He had quizes on blackboard for every class period which took about 2 hours each on top of homework which will take another hour or 2. He does not explain anything clearly and has a hard time answering questions. I taught myself everything. DO NOT TAKE HIM
DO NOT TAKE HIM EVEN IF HE IS THE LAST PROFESSOR YOU CAN TAKE. YOU NEED TO STUDY very hard, in order just to pass.He wants you to study at least 10 hours per week, but this i snot enought.DO NOT TAKE HIM.VERY CONCERNED ABOUT CHEATING
this guy is just horrible, not helpful at all, more than half my class dropped and I know of other sections where students all dropped as well, the web quizzes take hours, and what he tries to teach in class is nothing compared to whats on the test,i spent 2 weeks almost studyin for his midterm,i looked at it and didnt know anything on it, dont take

son of a b****
Worst teacher ever! That's all you need to know! He thinks he's funny, but he isn't at all. He gives a ridiculous amount of homework and the tests are bogus. Don't waste your money!!!
its seems sometimes there are evil people in this world. this man is one of them. do yourself a favor- don't take FISHER for any class ever! he should not be a teacher, he should not be on this earth!
Agree! PLEASE don't take his class. He is evil. There were 30 students in my class, end with only about 10 studnets in this class. Plus, he seems enjoy to see people dropping it. Don't help, don't curve. He is nuts.

Fisher is a good gardener and got rid of all those whiny weeds (you know who you are). Tests are long & hard as is HW. Take him if you are serious about finance and want to master it. He will make or break you, but you should want that this early in a finance cirriculum.
This is definitely not a blowoff class. He's tough and material is tough. Hints: 1)Do all reading, 2)review hw&quizzes given by him and textbook (it helps) 3)attend all sessions 4)Go through each quiz & hw problem and get it right-counts as 30% and will help if u have trouble. Not kidding w/10 hr min. for an A. HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE?GOOD LUCK!

This class was tough. After having taken his final, and taken some time to relax and reflect, I think Fisher was a good professor. He's tough but college is supposed to be difficult and people need to put some effort into things sometimes. People that dropped just couldn't take the heat. Everything in this class is hard.
I would have been better off using the tuition money to heat my apartment last winter.
This man is probably the most incosiderate teacher I have ever had. He expects us to work on his class 10 hours/week outside of class and believe me, it takes that much time. Not to mention, he is incredibly stupid. He doesn't understand the material any more than the rest of the class. Tests= very difficult. Over half of our class dropped.
Horrible Man. Horrible Teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM EVEN IF HE IS THE ONLY TEACHER LEFT!
He isn't inconsiderate or horrible, just really hard. He isn't the only teacher that expects 10 hours of study for FIN 310. And you could easily get 30% of your grade which he doesn't control. The material is hard so you have to study and actually learn if you want an A.
Sure he was hard, but so is the subject. As for 10 hrs/week, just wait until the real world smacks you, especially in the finance field. Excel HW caused alot of grief but it was simple. Bad news whiners, if you can't build a simple spreadsheet, good luck trying to do anything in the workplace, no matter what job you do. MickeyD's might take you

He is the least competent professor I've ever had, hopefully the last.He does not know the subject himself and allthough he tries to come accross like a nice guy he shuold not be teaching considerably the most important finance class he should probably teach Explore Chicago or something.A close tie with Houston and Ciecka for the WORST @ DePaul !
unnecessarily difficult...

Makes class alot more difficult then it should be. Tedious quizzes after every class which are very time consuming. Midterm and Final are very difficult even if you study alot. Not very clear in his teaching. When you ask him a questions on lecture he just repeats what he said in a LOUDER tone. Avoid at all costs.
he's a great guy and he explains things well in class... at least you think he did. but then the test comes and its very difficult. lots of homework too. i actually learned a lot. so if you really want to learn finance i recommend him.

One word- nightmare!
I thought he was great. For all of you giving him bad ratings...it's probably because you recieved a bad grade. His tests are based off the homework and practice quizzes. He has a great sense of humor and I would take him again if he taught another class.
Tough, but I learned a lot about finance.

This class is not for the faint-at-heart. If you want to pass, you WILL work hard and commit a lot of time. You will also walk away knowing this stuff like the back of your hand. He is a good teacher who is passionate about the subject, but he moves fast and covers a lot. If you can keep up without having your hand held, I highly recommend him.
First 5 weeks were spent going over time value of money, the remainder was spent rushing through everything else that needed to be covered. Not much lecture: class was mainly going over homework problems while he observed the class. Not very well organized. Take it if you know Finance/Acctg well-- you should get an A easily, but it will be boring!
This Prof. doesn't know how to teach. The first 2.5 hours of class are spent going over problems, by making students do them on the board. And the last 1/2 hour is rushing through lecture. The teacher doesn't explain well and I didn't get anything out of the class. If you can, take it with a different prof.
This was worst class that I have taken. Very unorganized. Lectures were all over the place. People in class asked questions- he did not answer them. Exams were ridiculous in length and content. Some of us in the class had questions before the midterm (exam day) and he said he was too busy to answer questions. Take someone else for this class!!
This guy doesn't know how to teach. Save your life, don't take him! The worst in Depaul.
mr. fisher is at least willing to learn from his students. he has been changing his course structure each quarter to really meet the needs of the students. i understand his first quarter he was impossible, but he is very helpful now and the class is NOT BAD!!! you dont have to read the book, just pay attention in class! NICE GUY!
great teacher knows the material very well. i never used the book except when i had to do homework. points are very easy to obtain just do the work. Go to class and pay attention and you should get at least a B-. Not easy to understand but he makes it easy.

I writing this because I was wrong about FISHER. FISHER IS DEPAUL's BEST TEACHER. All the other comments on here are from lazy students that don't really care about their future and have LOW GPA's. TAKE THIS CLASS, its worth your future to understand finance.
He rocked my school abilities. He was so nice and helpfull. He was quite loving and he made me feel like family. He is sooo kind and he made me understand the material. He was very nice and if he could be my life partner, I would defiantly choose, MR. FISHER!
I took him 3 times and failed
This teacher is great. Half the kids in my class are getting a D or F, but that is only because they don't try. The Quizzes are on-line and you are given 5 tries and yet they still fail. Fisher is a great teacher, a nice guy, and pretty interesting too. I would take him again if I could.
I loved the class, but the professor is horrible. I am not lazy as others say, and I have a 3.4 GPA.This teacher has failed more students than any other teacher I know. He did not help, and he never showed up on the day of the final. The grades were terrible on the final and he failed 5 people I know of. He does not care about his students. Just him
Worse teacher I have had at DePaul, and im in my last year!! He is very unhelpful. He hands you a worksheet and just lets you hang yourself. He doesnt TEACH anything, he just tells us to communicate as a group to find the answer. He in no way tries to help his students and doesnt care! Do not take him unless you have a thorough finance background.
Worse teacher ever!!! Doesnt explain matrial, wants students to work in groups and basically explain new staff to each other! Tests are long and hard, more than a half of the class failed.
This guys sucks. Can not teach. Does not prepare you for hmwk. Exams are like the hmwk, but he does not teach you how to solve the problems. Does not use the calculator, but the exams and hmwk require it. Very lazy. Assignments take 10hrs to complete / week. STAY AWAY.
he is not helpful.
This man is the most horrible teacher at DePaul. The material itself is difficult, and when you have a prof who refuses to teach any of it to you it makes it even harder. I'm a really good student (mostly A's and a few B's), and wound up with a D in his class. Do NOT take a class with him!
All I have to say is STAY AWAY! The material is hard as it is and he does not make it any easier. NO CURVE, your grade is made up of the mid-term 40%, your final 40%, and quizes (which are hard) 20%. The mid-term and the final take up the enitre 3hrs. If you have to take this class take it with another professor and save your time and money!
If you do your work well, you will EARN the grade you work for and learn something. No one says college was going to be easy, kids. Do your work, come to class everytime prepared, ASK QUESTIONS, and study in advance. It's no one's fault but your own if you can not get an A in this class, he outlines everything in the syllabus. This is college.

He does not have a clue !!! It seems that some of the students in the class knew the subject better than him. I had him for 340 also, because I had no choice...but the same story....AVOID him if you can.
I don't know what everybody is talking about...he's extremely clear with the material he presents and is more than happy to clarify any and all questions. So far, this class is extremely straight-forward.
This man is awesome!!! He is a legend!!!
Do not take him!!!!!!
Prof Fisher does not have a good structure to the course. He really should not be teaching a GRAD level course. He does not teach the class he just goes over what is in the book. If you want a teacher to teach you something don't take him. This course is a self directed course and the only thing you will learn is what you teach your self.
He gives extremely long and difficult exams. This is not a good class to take with him over the summer. Too much information in a small period of time. He does curve grades. I would recommend this class and this professor anytime but summer.
Do not take in the summer unless you are prepared to work hard. He is likable and has a solid grasp of the material. His exams are very long (though he claims to be working on making them shorter). The book was one of the better ones I've used. Entire grade is based on midterm and final. Curves generously.
This was a really hard class for an elective because there was so much work you had to do and way too much to study before exams..you are required to take online quizes every week, frequent blackboard posts, and chapter homework assignments from the book!..you learn alot but do not take this class with other hard classes
This is a hard class, but he makes it manageable.I loved his style of teaching and I would take him again. The participation outside of class (BB posts, quizzes) is kind of annoying at first, but then it really helps at the end.His tests are basically like the quizzes and HW.Do those well and you'll get an A.
Best finance class at DePaul. Not very much work like people complain. Two posts online, one question one answer, and a quiz every week. It really helps you study for the tests and the homework is all relevant. The class is very interesting and he has a great way of teaching. He is one of the best finance profs at DePaul.
His exams are extremely long and difficult but the curve is very generous. This class is a lot of work. Dr. Vu is a better choice for this class.
Very difficult class. The tests are insane! Both midterm and final took about 4 hours. About 20% of the class took longer than 4 hours. Tries to trick you. For the final, he specifically said he would not test anything from the mid-term, but he did. Basically his lectures are right from the book. Did learn a decent amount though
One of the best finance instructors at DePaul! He requires you to post on discussion board and homework, but it help you to learn. Print out quizzes, as it will help to study for midterm and final. I learned a lot from this course, and so far only second instructor at DePaul finance department who actually cares that you learn and succeed. Take him
Didn't learn much from the class. His exams are from lecture notes. His exams are long and he likes to test about everything. If you would like to learn about the class, I would recommend looking for another teacher. It was waste of time and 3 grand.
2 midterms & 1 cumulative final. 1st midterm is easy and then your screwed. I'm an A-/B+ student and I struggled with the extensive usless work to be done EVERY weekend which includes BB posts that MUST BE RELEVANT to the disucssion in class that week OR YOU WONT GET ANY POINT AND HE IS NOT LENIANT WITH THIS RULE!! His feedback everything is RUDE!
The class itself is difficult. His exams are similar to the HW he assignments so do your HW, quizzes (study them for your midterms and finals)and you should be fine. This class will require a lot of study time. He is not the only instructor who advises this class requires a lot of work. He will answer questions if you need help.
His midterm and final identical to problems he gives you for homework. I agree the class is extremely hard but he is the right professor for it. He enjoys teaching the subject and is very interested in working with his students. Highly recommended.
Professor Fisher's a really nice guy and very helpful. He goes on tangents at times but he really helps you understand the material... that being said, we skipped about 4-5 chapters. I would recommend him.
Terrible teacher! Half the time he did not know the answer and was shooting from the hip. His exams/tests were very difficult. He told everyone he expected 10 hours of homework each week in addition to class time and reading the textbook, which is hard for full time MBA students with 2 classes. Online homework was always erroneous.
Excellent teacher - real-world experience as a trader and ties class to real-world. He explains a complex subject in very clear and concise way. Those for whom easiness is most key - don't take this class, as he expects more than most finance profs. Those that prioritize learning about real-world currency trading--take him! He is excellent!
I learnt a lot in this class which are applicable in real life. Randall is a nice guy in terms of grading although he assigns lot of work. But I do not see other easy ways for learning finance. The course content itself is not all that difficult if you like working with numbers.
Lots of work outside of class. Work itself is not that difficult, there is just lots of it. If you are willing to put in the work you will get an A and learn the subject. Teaches 100% straight out of the book, even the examples he uses in class are out of the text.
The class does require a lot of work, but 40% of your grade is homework and i-clicker questions in class. Very friendly, if you have problems visit his office hours. He's nice, but the class is a lot of studying. Prepare in ADVANCE for midterm #2.
2 group presentations & papers; midterm & cum. final; some homework problems. Tests are long & a few tricks (problems, MC, & essay). Generous curve though. Gives old quizzes as study aids and some test questions straight off quizzes.
Do not take fisher if finance is not your major, or if it is and you want to keep interest in it. Excrutiating online homework that grades correct answers wrong. Copied and pasted HW question for test, but marked off points for EXACTLY what was in the solutions manual (does not grade HW himself. Can be rude when approached for help.
LOTS of work, everything from the book but YOU'LL DEFINITELY LEARN A LOT from him. His way of teaching is a bit conservative, he said it'll be good for us in the future so that we'll always remember. IT'S TRUE! He's disorganized though but overall he's good. Will take his class again if any.
He's an ok teacher, but the tests are HARD. I received the lowest grade of my college career in this class, and I'm an A student! Please beware, he gives you points for coming to class and doing online homework, but about 65% of the class received a C or lower on the 2nd midterm and the final was sickening. Try to get another professor if you can.
Gonna guess the bad ratings are from people who didn't take his recommendation & put in the hours outside of class. You need to want to learn the material, and if you do, he's the guy to go with. Great professor, very helpful, yes his policies are strict but his methods work! I had to study like crazy but it IS possible to get a good grade.
International finance is not an easy subject, so I doubt whoever you take it with it will be a walk in the park. Buy the book, do the online discussions, hw, and weekly quizes. Study and participate and you should be fine. There are two exams, mid-term and final. If you go over your notes, the quizes, and read the book slightly, you can get an A.
Professor Fisher is a smart guy. He knows his stuff and wants for his students to understand the logic of the course, not memorization. 330 is a tough course, but if you actually want to learn something then take it with him. Daily quizzes, two mid-terms and a final. Study the quizzes, test banks, and your notes and you can easily pass this class.

Randall Fisher is the biggest joke of a teacher. He thinks hes funny and hes not. He sucks as a teacher and should not be teaching at DePaul. The percentage of people that pass his class is probably right around 50%-60%. I have taken the class twice now and failed both times. I have never failed a class before in my life. He is a terrible tea
Professor Fisher is such a great teacher so shame on you. He really taught the material well. He may be a tough teacher but I def. learned a lot from this class!
Fisher does NOT deserve the ratings he receives on here. He is a tough professor but you will learn so much from him! His exams are fair, just read the handouts he has online and read the book (no need to do the problems in the book). He really pushes his students and expects a lot but isn't that what you want from a professor?? Take him!!!
SIMPLE DECISION: If you're a finance major, take him!! He is more challenging but you will be far ahead of everyone else for future finance courses. If you?re not a finance major, I'm not going to lie - you will probably be miserable. If you don?t read and do the homework - you will definitely fail...
One word he is very challenging! Just by showing to class and sitting there you won't pass. He is very hard but his conversations are very lively and interesting. He doesn't teach straight from the book but he is difficult.
Fisher is a challenging teacher but you gotta put time into this course. He did not have any midterms but he quized every week and 80% of his quizes were super challenging. HE DOES NOT OFFER ANY MAKE UP QUIZZES, NOT EVEN IF YOU'VE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF A RELATIVE DIES OR WHETHER YOU'VE BEEN SICK! HE BELIEVES THAT HIS SYLLABUS IS THE HOLY GRAIL!
Prof. Fisher definitely creates interest in Finance but he is challenging as hell. You must do well in all his weekly quizzes. The final does not carry much weight. There is no midterm for this class and yet attending this class was like having a midterm every week! No kidding! My other courses suffered quite a bit because of this professor!
He is really challenging because he wants you to put at least 10 hours a week for the class. He has real life experience but talks too much about himself, so he is behind with the material. You will learn where the formulas are coming from so you don't have to memorize them.2 midterms and a final. He collects some of the homework and grade it
Hands on class in learning about and engaging in International finance
I had professor Fisher for both Fin 310 and 340 and he is an excellent teacher. I guess all the bad ratings are from the students who don't like to work or put too much effort into studying. Prof Fisher has tons of outside work experience and he is very helpful when you need assistance.
There were plenty of students in my class doing all the work and trying as hard as they could, but yet ended up not getting the grades they want. He does NOT teach, just reads off slides that he doesn't even make. You ask for help, he will laugh at you. Avoid him at all costs. Homework is easy for the most part, but final and midterm is very hard.
Hard, but if you take his class, you have a better understanding of finance
the best finance professor at DePaul University..took him 310 as well, preps you well, fair, articulate
The 10 hours of study time is NO JOKE however it will pay off in the end. I do reccomend and will take this professor for future finance classes.
He is a really nice guy that is passionate about his course, however he is a very tough grader. The course is 100% based on exams and there were a number of instances where individuals had to discuss the exams with him afterwards to earn their full credit. Many times he is not all that organized with his lecture examples which is frustrating too.
His New Venture Financing class is a joke. He does not teach you anything, I wonder why he even comes to class? The whole class is based on a business idea that you have and you have to pitch it to the class at the end. He plays no role in it and drags class while acting like he is teaching. To top it all off he makes coming to class required. Joke
He did not once give a single lecture. He just had some guest speakers come in and talk. Quizzes are based on a textbook and most of our grade is from doing an investor presentation. All of which we have no lectures on. Again, he doesn't actually teach. He doesn't have a lesson plan nor is he prepared for class. Very unmotivated, lazy professor.
extremey difficult and intimating. I was afraid to participate in class or even ask questions. Goes over material very quickly assuming you know everything. if you take notes or open up the book during class he will yell at you. worst experience at DePaul so far :( stay away!
Why all the bad commons? I took him for 2 classes, FIN 310 and Entrepreneurship, and they turned out great. His teaching push you to remember thing that helps you get through your next course.
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY!! Basically Fisher expects his students to know everything while teaching as little as possible. He has had a lot of past experiences in the field of finance but it does not translate over to good teaching. You take two midterms and a final; about 40% of the class passed. Also, he's very arrogant and unhelpful.
A lot of people hate on this guy, but honestly I think he's a solid professor. I managed to get a 50% on the final, but still pulled away with a C+. First grade below a A- for Finance classes (DePaul Finance is kind of joke). Anyway that was my fault not his, I should have tried. Just put in SOME kind of effort and you'll be fine.
Nice guy but awful class. Problem is that the hw assignments were almost always one chapter ahead of in-class lecture. Essentially, MBA students paid $3700 to teach themselves Corporate Finance (from a very reasonably priced $287 book) by completing the graded hw before actually learning the lesson/concepts from the professor. The final was brutal.
I would advocate taking this course with another professor, if possible. He was not able to answer difficult questions asked by the class and often stumbled over the material. Personally, he is a nice enough guy, but I do feel that he has a lot of room for improvement as a professor. You'll just teach yourself with the book.
Attndnce: You should go to class. Otherwise, you can't blame him for a low grade. Great professor. Invites every single person to come to office hours OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Don't believe the low ratings. I asked my older brother and he gave me the recommendation. Take if you want to get a job after college. Friendly and cool.
Professor Fisher is one of the best finance professors at DePaul. He really makes the material understandable conceptually. Make sure you do the HW and go to class and you should be able to get, at the very least, a B. Professor Fisher is also always willing and encourages to meet for extra help.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! He doesn't teach you anything, just assumes you should know everything prior to him even going over it, and when he does go over stuff in class he just flies through the material. Again DO NOT TAKE HIM! You will regret it!
Very hard class but he makes it even harder. I got an A in 310 and even with a lot of study time its impossible to get an A in this class. 2 midterms and a final. The class is not bad but his tests are the hardest thing ever. Little time to finish and a lot of problems. It just feels like he covers too much materials.
The worst Finance professor I have ever had at DePaul. Do not take him. I am really positive that you will regret it. There are two midterms and final. The exams are difficult but the given time makes it worse. He assumes that you know everything. He seemed really knowledgeable about the subject but does not know how to teach well.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! He is a great guy but the worst professor I ever got a DePaul! The midterms and finals are the hardest I have ever taken!
Worst professor I've ever had, period. I usually don't pay attention to these comments and go into the class open minded about the professor but I advise you not to pick him. Delay the class a quarter if you have the chance. Does not teach you much and expects you to know everything. Tests are extremely long and impossible to do well on.
This guy just assumes you know everything and he will say that at least twice every class. Your only hope of passing his class is by reading the book, understanding it on your own, and doing the problems. His method of teaching is a complete joke.
Necessary things to know BEFORE taking: stats, CAPM, bond pricing. If you were paying attention in your fin 310/311 you shouldn't have an issue. I would recommend taking this course and risk management at the same time since so many topics overlap.
Highly suggest you select a different professor for this class. He is a nice guy but you won't learn anything in his class. You will have to teach yourself everything and read the book thoroughly (not easy). He doesn't prepare you for the exams whatsoever. I absolutely regret taking his class. Choose a different professor for this class, trust me!
It is a hard class and he makes it even worse. His grading is usually unfair and makes mistakes most of the time. Take different professor if it is possible.
Nice guy. 2 midterms, final, & HW. Each 1/4 grade. Got an A-. You need to READ THE BOOK & use all of the online resources which includes the HW. If you don't do both, you won't pass the exams. The exams are challenging, need to manage your time. If your an independent student I recommend this class. Reading the slide notes alone won't be enough.
I would not recommend taking this professor for Fin330. If he had a more strategic teaching style, I would be more gracious with his score. His tests are under a time constraint and reward fast test-takers. If you're stuck taking him, don't take 5 classes that term because you will need the extra time to learn the material.
STAY AWAY from this guy. Try to teach off powerpoints, which means he talks through problems instead of show you how to do them. Class is showing problem on slide, asking you to figure it out, the when the one kid in the room has the right answer he says, how'd you get that? Not actually teaching anything. Tests: HARD. He gives no partial credit.
I chose to ignore the comments here and I am paying for this dearly. He is a likable buy but disorganized, and because he talks nonsense, he wastes time in class, which means we wind up teaching ourselves. Often we can only get to do the hw by having taught ourselves the material as we never get to cover all of it in class.
I have mixed feelings about him. He is a nice guy but awfully disorganized. I get the feeling that he comes to class with no idea of what he's got to teach. He just reads the slides to you and then tests you on every single MFL problem. It wouldn't be an issue had he told us so ahead of the exam. Basically, you'll be teaching yourself this quarter
Quite possibly the worst teacher I have ever had at DePaul!
He's not THAT bad. I've had better Finance professors, but I've also had worse. You have to do all the online homework and quizzes or you'll never pass. He also assigns problems from the back of the book, but never checks if you actually do it. You should do those problems anyway, because you'll see them on the exams, sometimes verbatim.
Yes you absolutely have to study your butt off, but it is absolutely work it. I took the class during the winter quarter. He is a great teacher, does cover a lot but finance is supposed to be hard, especially investments! If you want to learn a lot and maximize your education, take him!
Save your money and take this class with someone else. He is very hard and has little sympathy for his students. In truth you will have to teach yourself so take another teacher.
After graduating from DePaul, I realized that he is ridiculously hard for an undergraduate professor. You'll look around the room 4 weeks into the quarter and realized that about 20-30% of your fellow students have dropped the class. It's CFA level hardness for undergraduate level experience. Its just not necessary. Save yourself some hardship.
He doesn't check his email. Shows up to class seconds before and leaves pretty much right after. Seems nice in person but wouldn't risk my grade taking a class with him
He doesn't respond to emails. Very inaccessible. Shouldn't be teaching in 21st century.
A very hard class if you aren't a pro at accounting. The wording of exams aren't clear and majority of the class failed. You have to teach yourself EVERYTHING to not fail. He races through the lectures and doesn't explain things very well. Wouldn't take him EVER again. He teaches too fast and expects you to get it and gets mad when you don't.
