I took the online summer class. Communicates by email and ecampus. Daily participation on the class discussion board is really fun. The final exam was a short essay about a museum or gallery visit. The textbook in syllabus says 9th edition, the bookstore forces you to buy the expensive 10th ed. I got the 8th ed for 10 bucks and I passed with an A

The blogs he uses are really great and useful. I enjoyed the videos and having assignments that needed personal analysis and creativity. Highly recommended for online class

I took this class over the summer, and it was great. I learned so much about art. Mr. Garrett is extremely helpful, and his curriculum is well-planned and easy to keep up with. There are assignments due everyday, which helped me keep up with the class. Highly recommended.

Weekly discussion board question after reading one or two chapters (which are short ch.!) A few tests that were 15 questions, piece of cake! One museum visit with a two page, double spaced paper about it. The final was a short PowerPoint on a particular subject of your choice that we went over in the book. Great easy class! Randall Garrett clearly explains the material while giving positive feedback and clarification. He encourages students to ask questions and express themselves. If you don't understand something, ask, he's there to help. Go in with an open mind that you know nothing about art apreciation and you will learn more than you expected.

Great teacher. Really enjoyed his class, the interaction between students, the visit to the DMA, feedback from Mr. Garrett and students. It was all conducive to a successful course, especially since it was mostly online.

The text book we used was Gateways to Art, by D. DeWitte, I rented it on amazon for $18, and this along with the art blog links is what you need to do well on the tests. The grade was based on DBs one per day, 3 tests, and 1 essay. Overall, I would highly recommend taking this class with Mr. Garrett, follow the syllabus. and you can earn an A.

This an awesome class! Took it once before but it was horrible. This professor was ALWAYS willing to help and responded very quickly to questions via email. He posted daily discussion board questions and the directions could not be any clearer. If u do the work you will definitely get an A!

One of the most interesting and enjoyable classes I've had these past two years. He definitely makes the learning more meaningful, more of a passionate interest in the subject, and enjoys what he does. Definitely a classinstructor I would recommend regardless as to whether it is needed for creditdegree or not.

Overall good online experience. There is an "assignment" due every week, but it's not time consuming. That being said, you got to stay on top of things for this class otherwise you'll get left behind.

This was a required class. Mr. Garrett made the visit to the museum interesting. You need to read the book to do the discussion boards but it's easy reading. I had to attend a play and it was great. I would take his class again.

I took him for a mayflex term class (3 week course) this class was honestly one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Another perk was he gets the whole class into the Dallas museum of art for free. You don't have to pay! Oh and he's kind of like the hippie type. Just an fyi

I am so glad I took Professor's Garret class. It consists of daily discussion boards and quizzes. Make sure not to fall behind and you should get a good grade. I would definitely recommend him. I learned so much from his class.

Consisted of discussion board posts M-F. 4 timed test over specific material. During the test, he asks you to not use your textbook instead he will post a handout with definitions you can use. The material is easy you just need to know the difference and meanings. Same material used in discussions. Overall easy class but requires understanding.

Somewhat professor not creepy, not hotty, even if you are not satisfied, he gives you chance to make-up your grades, and he expects to do all his homework and test is for the grades. Essay and Power Points are pretty easy but must type in your owns words. He grades is OK but the tests scores were higher than the essays and powerpoints.

He is an amazing professor. Gives extra credit and If need be allows you to make up missed assignments. Answers emails in a timely fashion and is very understaning /aware that life does happen. Just do the work and keep him informed of any problems they may keep you from turning a assignment in on time and he is more than willing to work with you

There are weekly discussion boards and there were 4 tests. The tests are not bad, however they are timed. He's a great teacher and he's really into art. Try to make the museum visit. You'll walk away understanding and appreciating art!

He also respojds fairly fast with emails and helos students with their problems, especially if a student needs to attend a museum for a essay, he would help them work around it to complete it

An easy online class. You post on the discussion board once a week and discuss the image you have chosen, he gives great feedback. His instructions were easy to follow. This is a great class. I love art but now I have a better understanding of multiple forms and how they are created. You can tell Professor Garrett likes to reach on the subject and gives great feedback- especially when something is difficult to grasp.

Professor Garrett manages to teach a course that's somehow both incredibly easy and genuinely fulfilling. Every assignment is based around finding examples of artistic principles in your own life, oftentimes just taking random photos of stuff and analyzing them. As long as you can show you understand the terminology, you will get a good grade.

Be prepared to participate in a lot of discussion boards with expectations of using details. Two essays minimum. Large percentage of grade. He gets back to you in a timely manner, and also encourages you to pick your brain and think on a deeper level. Best professor I have honestly ever had. Complete all assignments and you will definitely pass.

I participated in pretty much all my assignments and could've had an A but I wasn't able to go to a play for my final assignment which really impacted my grade. Discussion boards were easy, interesting, and fun. I really enjoyed this class!

I took it online and really enjoyed the links that summarize the chapters (it's a must to review those links before a test).Discussion board due every Friday, which are not difficult at all, and there's really no right or wrong answer for the discussion boards, just participate! 4 test, 1 essay and 1 powerpoint.

I took his online art class and I thought it was very well planned and clear grading. It is a lot of reading and discussion boards; however, they are helpful and he provides good feedback. There are 4 tests and one essay over a Museum visit. As long as you read and pay attention and participate, this class is an easy A.

Overall this class online was a breeze ! First time taking online classes but this was a very good experience. The only outside of class thing was the visit to the museum but he is straight to the point and as long as u do the work your good and ALWAYS do discussion boards !

I took this class over may term. If you don't have the time for daily commitment to the course work and blog don't take this class. I loved the class overall. You are motivated to explore your environment and seek out art in everyday life. Prof. Garrett is passionate about art and is fair with grading and will work with due dates if needed.

As a student in El Centro for nearly a year, I would have to say that Professor Randall Garrett is by far the most motivated Professor that i have encountered. Mr. Garrett was more than helpful with any issues or concerns I had in his class. This teacher understands and is a subject matter expert in what he teaches. Students are his #1 priority.

Professor Garrett is a great teacher, my coworker told me about how he is always willing to help students an it's so true. I'm glad I took this class. You will need the text book and know how to do discussion boards, but overall very fun class. He tells you exactly what he wants, an is very understanding. Don't miss a great opportunity.

I took this as an online class while traveling. There's an assignment every week, each of which tends to make you think outside of the box. A lot is based on personal experience and opinion making it hard to not do well. There's a few timed exams, none of which were difficult if you knew the material.

What liked about Professor Garrett. Too many to but, i love how he got in and interacted with us in our discussion boards. There was thoughts on "how do i do this", he lead example. All you have to do is do work and you, and be willing to learn new things (think outside the box) and you will pass.

I greatly appreciated, the time and effort the instructor used in order to respond to each discussion board promptly.

Great Lecture and superb presentations

This professor really takes the time to sincerely respond to your emails on time which is absolutely important in an online class. The course is pretty breezy, just submit your completed work on time. For the discussions, the professor replies to your posts giving feedback on what you submitted for the unit to ensure your understanding.

This professor was great! I took this class online for Maymester. There are daily discussion boards, a PowerPoint, one essay and 4 tests. The tests are straight off the daily blogs he would post. Read the blogs and I guarantee an A on every test. It is necessary to participate in the daily discussion boards to get a good grade.

I took his online Mayterm course, and it was amazing. It consisted of discussions everyday, a total of 4 quizzes and an essay. Aslong as you know how to manage your time and keep up, this class will be easy. Would definetly recommend.

I took Professor Garrett's course as a Maymester class. This has seriously been the best class that I have taken in college thus far. He is such a great professor and I really admire that he makes his own blog and you just read that and pass the class. No need for a book in this class, just reading blogs. Randall Garrett is an excellent teacher. The assignments are fun and easy to understand, due dates for assignments are given in plenty of time, and he responds quickly to questions. Great professor! I missed a test and a couple assignments and he let me retake them for full credit. He's very understanding and passionate about what he teaches. Easy assignments and tests. Test questions are straight out of his blogs. Two short papers that are very easy to do . I would definitely recommend! Easy A if you do all the work.

He was such a good instructor, clearly let's you know what to expect. Did not have to buy a book - he provides all the material needed. Tests are multiple choice and come from his material- and just 1-2 questions that require a few sentences. Just a great person - with lots of information - and from lectures lots of experience. Amazing Professor! He is by far one of the best ones I have had. I got behind on two assignments and he was easy to reach and responded quickly. Needless to say, my grade was not damaged by two delayed assignments. He is understanding that things come up and we are not always the best students turning in our work ok time.

I absolutely loved Professor Garrett! The class was fun and engaging and had plenty of time to get my work done white having a winter break. Assignments/discussion boards were fun and interesting, I learned something new every time! I learned a lot from him and was able to take that knowledge into the future with me as a future teacher.

One of the best peofessors I have ever known. His teaching technique is very well implied . You will definitely get to learn a lot about aspects culture and humanities. There are 15 discussion blogs that are the standard of participation. 4 online tests with 15 mcq. And 2 short essays. He is a very creative individual. He has been an inspiration.

This class was great! I loved the ways that Randall made the participation count with short videos, poems, and being able to learn so much from his writings. If you participate and read then it's a very easy A. You will learn some new stuff that you may not have been exposed to before.

HUMA 1302 ONLINE Great class but participation is definitely big! You will need to engage in weekly discussion boards that require work but it is completely fun! There is no judgment at all in his class and even if it is online, you get to meet your classmates a little. SUPER FUN, got me out of my comfort zone. Recommend it!

Look no further in your search for a Humanities 1302 professor. Took him as a required elective and don't regret it. He responds to emails pretty quickly and gives good feedback on discussion boards. No textbook. Just read all his blogs, do 2 essays, do the tests and discussion boards and boom! A+.

Take this class! Professor Garrett provides everything that you need in order to pass. I took him during Maymester and even though it was fast paced, it was still manageable. It's impossible to fail this class unless you don't do your work. He's definitely the best Humanities teacher DCCCD has to offer. Recommend him 100!

Just do your work participate, he's not a heavy grader and work isn't hard. Such a easy class! he's very laid back and one of the coolest professors take him!

Professor Garrett was an amazing professor, I took his online course for HUMA 1302 during the Winter term. You have to do daily discussion boards M-F for attendance. You have to attend at least 2 events of your choice and write 2 short essays about them. There is also 4 test (15 questions) , and a PPT final project which is easy. Would take again
