He is the best. I took him in summer. He knows his stuff and presents it in a very interesting and easy way. must take him.
Extremely hard grader on essays. But good lectures and for the most part laid back and understanding
I am still taking his class but so far i love it, very sweet teacher, very entertaining. you wont get bored, not a lot of work, easy exams. his lectures are not that bad. really easy quizzes. much recommend.
very understanding and helpful, everything is clear and straightforward! amazing professor 10/10 recommend
Took him for 1301 (summer). Very easy, only 4 test (including final). First test is online and the rest are in class. A couple quizzes and 1 paper. TAKE HIM! Also, he's quirky and cool.
Hist-1301 summer session. Wasn't a history buff; now curious. I appreciate his style of teaching - down to earth, straight forward with work required & engages the class w/ discussions. He is encouraging & approachable.
I absolutely loved Horton's class. It was a blast and i'd take it again in a heartbeat. He knows how to keep students engaged and truly enjoys what he's teaching. He gives you what you need for exams and keeps you informed.
the best teacher i have ever had
Mr. Randall Horton is the number one teacher to take for History. I'm taking him for HIST1302 for mini-mester, and I have a 97. All you have to do is read, study and believe you will pass. There isn't any extra credit provided, but without it, I believe you will do well.
Really sweet guy, you have to pay attention in order to pass. Skipping class will not help. He is very very sweet and his tests are easy, he literally gives you the answers.
Follow his notes and youre good! The quiz dates are all on the syllabus. Class is very engaging and informative. Great Guy!
I was never good at History of any kind, Professor Horton gives a clear and detailed, yet funny and interesting lecture! He's always available outside of class (i.e. email) to clarify any questions you may have. Participation and accountability matter greatly to him, but if you notify him in a timely manner of your absence he is also understanding.
Very good at engaging in conversations when asking questions. It seems he genuinely tries to help students and meet them halfway when they are struggling.
He talks a lot and I get bored and dont pay attention but his test and quizzes are exactly like the reviews he posts on blackboard.
He is great at engaging in conversations when you have a question. Quizzes and tests are easy. Lectures aren't bad. Good sense of humor. Essays (if any) aren't bad.
Prof Horton is the only History teacher I've ever had who taught me something new. Incredible guy, funny, gives new insights and context into events, encourages you to go research if you're interested in something. Take notes, pay attention, and show up to class. He will tell you everything you need to know, but it's your job to study and know it.
Goes into detail on lectures and makes sure everyone understands what's going on. You can easily get an A+ if you pay attention during class and study just a bit. He plays a lot of videos for more visual learners throughout some of his lectures. There were very few tests throughout the semester (excluding finals). 10/10 both semesters were amazing.
Had him for Dual Credit 1301 and 1302 and he was the best! Super easy and chill. All his reviews are posted on blackboard and they are exactly like the quizzes and tests. Had about 2 essays per semester, but they had a long dead line and weren't graded hard. He does love to talk, so be prepared!
Horton is hands down AMAZING 10/10 would recommend ! 1 I took him for HIST 1301 during wintermester and HIST 1302 during maymester. He's honestly the best at what he does. If you look through his notes and his power points (which he gives you) you're guaranteed an A on his exams. His class fills up quick, so register NOW. Good luck :)
Took maymester for his history class. The lessons are very well set and stone, also responds to emails very quickly if you have a question. Encourages doing your own research on topics for you to have your own opinion and gives you an insight of history on a fun but critical way. By far one great professor Ive ever had taken!
TAKE HIM!!!! Honestly I was so worried about maymaster because it was my first taking a class at such a fast paste. He was so awesome. He answered email within 24 hr. The powerpoints are exactly like the test. I received a 97 and I hated history throughout middle and high school. Maymester online consisted of 3 exams and 3 discussions. TAKE HIM!!!!
Big yes!! He pushes you to think deeper than just names and dates. He is always open to learning from his students, and genuinely wants to hear what we think. He researches in depth for his PowerPoints so that he gives as much info as possible. Overall, he's really caring and tells really cool stories. I'd take this class again in a heartbeat!
I loved this class, and even after taking it I still contact him with personal questions. He is always willing to help and is very funny. I love history and Horton made it that much better. I recommend him to anyone taking TCC history. He is also very relaxed, but still wants you to learn. He is a 10/10, best teacher I ever had.
He is just the best. Took him for both history 1 and 2. U just have to study. But easy A for sure!!!
Super passionate, easy going and encourages students to think deeply and often.
Love this professor!! During online he has taught through video lectures. Great content. He explains things so thoroughly. He is very responsive to his emails. Overall a fantastic class.
I'm finishing up his wintermester class today and have enjoyed it. We had 4 tests (open note and he provides notes and PowerPoints that help a lot) and a few discussion boards. Very receptive when I reached out with a question and seems like a nice guy!
Professor Randall is indeed an amazing, knowledgeable, and understanding kind of person. I took his wintermester and I thought it was gonna be tough in contrast I didn't even worry about the due date because he was giving us enough time to finish whatever we have to. we had 4 exams, three discussion boards, and three papers. I recommend him to you
I took the Wintermester class and was worried it would be tough for such a short period. I was wrong, it was a delight to take. His videos and slides were great. The tests and discussions were engaging. There were three essays (easy) , four unit tests, and a few discussions. All were excellent. All were open note. I can't thank him enough!
Mr Horton loves history and his lessons reflect his passion. The powerpoints and videos pair perfect together and make the information enjoyable. You can easliy earn a good grade if you watch the videos and use the notes he provide.
I didnt get to experience Horton in person, but I will say an awesome online professor. Horton really made things less difficult while transitioning to online during the pandemic. Super straight forward and very understanding. Just do the work! Everything in the lectures were on the test; very accurate! Horton also went in depth about topics!
Such a good teacher! Test are opened which makes it so much better. He is really understanding and i learned so much about history ! Would definitely take him again
Love Love Loved, very understanding, truly cares about his students, and wants what is best for them. The ONLY 2 cons is how long the test were (100 qs) and no extra credit, but how many of us take all extra cred opportunities, lol. He gives you an EXTREMLEY fair amount of time to submit test and assignments. Answers emails FAST even on off days(:
Professor Horton is the best. Highly recommend for history. He opened a new way to look at things and Ill remember that ( have an open mind). He didnt expect a right wrong answer as long as it was honest, and deep thinking. His lectures have lots of structure and worth it. Thanks Professor H!
I highly recommend taking Professor Horton!!! He's truly the best. His lectures were always very informative and entertaining. Anytime I needed clarification on an assignment, I would email him, and he always responded fast. I feel like he gave me more insight into a few significant events in history, and I wish I could've met him in person.
Professor Horton is my favorite teacher ever!! This class was so easy. The way he teaches is AMAZING. Would 100% take any class that he is teaching.
He has different teaching material for all learning preferencces. He is able to awaken interest in his students so they can desire to know more about the history of US. I recommend him 100%.
Prof. Horton is the most amazing teacher I have had in my college career. This is my second time having him because of the impact he made on me last semester. He loves what he does and it shows. He is human, real, compassionate, and understanding. If you do the work, you will pass. If you truly participate you will learn. Online-Learning perfected!
Prof H. provides all materials needed for class. I took this class SP 2021 online. The exams are open book and there are 3 to 4 writing assignments. Do your work on time and according to instructions you will have an easy A. If you have any issues email Prof immediately and he get back to you promptly.
Professor Horton is really good at what he does. He makes it easier to understand the course and he is willing to work with you if necessary.
Would 100% take this professor again. A lot of videos to watch but he gives you a good amount of time to turn in things. His lectures are filled with information and if you pay attention to what he says and takes notes you'll pass!
Professor H was amazing, hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. His lectures as well as the powerpoints were filled with amazing detail. The class discussions we did were my favorite, very engaging and made you critically think. He really wants you to understand the material and pass. Would absolutely take him again in a heartbeat.
Professor Horton was amazing. Class was opinion based so you really couldnt go wrong unless you didnt meet the requirements for the page length and format. Took class during Maymester (2 week course). NEVER FELT LIKE I WAS BEHIND !!!! We had 4 unit tests, 3 discussion boards and 2 papers I think. ALL EASY ! You can use your notes plus PowerPoint
TAKE HIS CLASS YOU WONT REGRET IT! He is very educational. Exams not proctored. You may take notes or use his notes and PowerPoints for exams. Discussions boards are opinion based and so are the 2 written papers. But you must put thought into it. WORKPASS. This class was a walk in the park!
Prof. Horton is a really nice and cool History teacher. I had him back in spring 2020 for us hist 2 and retook him this spring for the hist 1 that i was missing. His exams are all in the notes and usually always open note. He will work with you and help you along the course. it is not hard at all just do your work and submit assignments on time.
I really enjoyed Professor Horton's class. I took it in the summer so it was only a month long and I wish it had been longer. His lectures were interesting and gave you so much information that you actually remember. Although I made a 0 on the first assignment because I didn't press submit correctly, he tried his best to help me out with that.
Prof H is an awesome professor. He genuinely wants his students to pass AND learn history. He provides deep thoughts about each chapter/unit. For the summer class, there were 2 discussion boards, 1 turn-it-in assignment (really easy), 4 tests, and 1 essay (500-750) words. He's great. His powerpoints are a little long but take him!!
He is such a great professor, took him for June summer classes. His class was pretty easy, he let us use notes on the test, he also provides notes for you. He's really nice, will help if asked. he really cares about history. He answers emails pretty quick, and puts grades in pretty quick as well. I defiantly recommend taking him!!!

Professor Horton was a really great teacher. I took him for a June semester and the class was not too difficult. He provides you with notes & powerpoints. Grades were composed of 4 unit tests, 4 discussion boards, and 2 writing prompts. The discussion boards and writing prompts were not bad. And the tests were open note. Overall an easy class
liked the class I intially joined because of the other reviews he is a nice teacher understanding helpful as far as grading goes would take agian
Professor Horton was an amazing teacher, his course was made very simplistic as he outlined everything you needed to know very clearly. He livened up his power points by adding small bits of humor while still staying on topic. Use of notes allowed on tests. He provided great feedback and was very reasonable in grading. 10/10 would take again!
If you plan on taking HIST 1301 and there are seats still available for his class, don't think twice. He is the nicest professor ever, he does not give too much homework and his tests are not too hard. I would most definitely take his class again.
Prof. Horton is by far the best history teacher I've had. His class is always something I look forward to being in and his lectures are full of hilarious references and jokes. His tests are open note and able to take out of class and his reviews are so helpful in preparing. As long as you pay attention, his class is an easy A!
Professor Horton is one of my favorite teachers I have ever taken at TCC. He is amazing, funny and overall class is a breeze if you participate and engage in the learning. Easy A plus for me with a few quizzes throughout the semester (reviews are optional but help a lot) and a couple take home multiple choice exams. Pay attention and do your work!
I have a hard time with history but his storytelling helped a lot! He's funny and tells you all the facts you should know. Would definitely recommend
very thorough introduction to his course and a chill professor. amazing professor and gives you his slides + notes that he took on his own. 10/10.
Hes a great teacher, he respects students and they respect him. His class really interactive and he knows how to make the class lively
He is an amazing teacher, he respects his students very much. His tests were open-note. PLEASE TAKE HIM AS A PROFESSOR!!!
He is an amazing professor that likes to interact with students to keep their attention. I enjoyed a lot of his lectures and was able to gain a new perspective on many topics.
He is such an enthusiasm, hillarious professor. Test and exam is open-noted and he always gives the review notes before every test.
Honestly the best teacher I could of asked for , if you have to take history take him !! I personally do not like history and he made it soooo interesting and its a very easy class and exams are open note !
Prof Horton is absolutely awesome. If you like history, take his classes. It's not just regurgitating info, you actually earn the context and surrounding historical climate, which makes for a well-rounded experience. The class is lecture heavy, but the material is always there for you to revisit. If you try, you do well. Simple as that.
He is amazing, understanding, and willing to work with you. He is very concerned with his dates so be sure to do everything on time. He is very hilarious and makes you wanna go to his class. He is also very passionate about history and knows exactly what hes talking about BUT his lectures are long. Easy A if you do the work. I will take again!!
His course is consisted of 3 exams 3 quizzes 4 discussion boards and a final exam which is not accumulative. He is an amazing teacher and really funny. All his exams are open note and made our final exam open note(first time doing that). His quizzes are not open note but he posts a detailed review. Highly recommend 1000/10 TAKE HIM!
Horton was by far the greatest history teacher I've had. His lectures have information backed up by numerous sources & links to which he gives his students access. He creates powerpoints & typed out notes to reference back to which are extremely helpful during quiz reviews and tests. He also has a great, goofy and extreme caring personality.
Professor Horton is the best History teacher out there. He makes sure to post the reviews for tests promptly so that you have enough time to study for them. He also replies to emails outside of school hours if you find yourself unable to complete assignments. Announcements are also posted often, so you don't fall behind.
I took HIST 1301 online with him and finished with an easy A, I took him for 1302 and once again another A. He is very understanding and clear on the few assignments he has. His lectures are also very interesting and interactive. By far my favorite professor!!!
This is my first dual credit class and when I first entered the class, I was terrified. But Professor Horton is possibly the best teacher I've ever had. He makes me love history. His lectures are interesting and he is possibly the most entertaining teacher I have ever had. He puts so much effort into his teaching and he is a very kind man.
He is wonderful history teacher and person. You can tell that he is really passionate about teaching and enjoys the information that he gives us to back us his reasonings. Even till this day if you have a question and he doesnt know the answer to it he will go digging for the answer and will tell you the next day. That man had dedication!
Really awesome prof. He was really funny and knows his stuff! I would 100% take him again.
For me, this class was not enjoyable. There were a lot of lectures that I couldnt gain anything from, and most lectures turned into stand up comedy. Of course, its fine to have a break and home around with students, but not when it interferes with learning. I didnt enjoy this class, and lost my passion for history due to it.
Professor Horton was a great professor, especially for a dual credit class of high schoolers. Any obstacle in the way Professor Horton always tried to work with you to help. There are a lot of notes, but if you listen during the lectures he lets you know how much attention to give each area. Pay attention during lectures and study youll be fine
This year was my very first dual credit class, and it makes me dread going to college in a few years. All we really did with Professor H was talk, and not a lot of the lectures were exactly helpful. Personally, this was a poor experience for me, and I feel discouraged from taking dual credit again.
I couldnt stay focused, I didnt really enjoy this class.
This man has to be the greatest professor. Hes very understanding if youre unable to make it to class. Lectures in my opinion are awesome because he shows all the facts instead of a one sided story. Tests and discussions are very simple and easy.(youll see why if you have him) If you get this Prof. Youll have a smooth and easy time!
Very lecture heavy, few grades, not enough time to put your knowledge to the test.
He is a great professor who is passionate about what he teaches. Who knew history could be so interesting! As long as you do the work (which isn't much) you will pass
The class can be fun and the teacher is very caring and understanding. If you pay attention in class, class will be easy and its a good learning environment.
Mr. Horton really made his lectures relatable and easy to understand. Most classes were an enjoyable learning experience.
Guys look no further for a history professor because Mr. Randy is simply amazing. He goes about history with so much knowledge and passion it's impossible not to pay attention to him. His class is normal when it comes to hw and tests are exactly over the notes you take. Not a difficult class at all, but for sure makes you think. He's great!
Genuinely cares about the quality of your education and creates an easy-going and entertaining environment. Grades are not heavy, open notes test, quizzes aren't open but it's 15-20 easy questions that are over the study guide given a week beforehand. Very great course if you want to engage and have fun with the teacher without the fear of grades
Very few grades so be sure to follow all directions and complete EVERY assignment
Professor Horton is an awesome teacher! He taught history so interestingly to us and always has so much stuff to back up his teachings with article links and videos about his topics! Such a cool class to be in!
This was my first year taking dual credit, and I'm so glad that I was able to experience it with Professor Horton. He's a teacher who shows that he cares for you while being able to take criticism and feedback easily, and implements it into his class. It's a very fun classroom environment even during lectures, and assignments are hardly an issue.
Prof Horton is hands down the best history teacher I have personally ever had! His knowledge and lectures get you excited for not only for the class ahead but also for history in general. His class is easy going and relaxed. Not a hard grader but knows when credit is due. After taking his classes I even decided to change my major to education!
Jus t do your required assignments,be there on time, he will work with you, just let him know long ahead of time.
I love when my prof enjoy what they are teaching, and anybody would say Horton loves teaching history. He is a really cool teacher, PROVIDES LITERALLY EVERYTHING - from the slides, to his notes, to the study guides. Bc of the snow days we were behind but he wasn't hard about it. We got 100s for 2 quizzes just for talking with him.
Mr.Horton has to be one of the best history professors at TCC. History can be boring at times and I do find my self sleeping at times because of how boring history is not prof Horton. He really tries his best to make the class lively but sliding in jokes here and their. Submit the assignments, come to class and you will do just fine :)
Easy A class, Mr. Horton was so helpful, also he has a passion for History teaching so you will enjoy his lectures.
I love professor Horton. His lecture is enjoyable, and I've learned a lot. He has 4 exams overall, 3 online, and 1 in person. Don't hesitate to take him. You won't regret it.
Professor Horton is an amazing professor. It's easy to get an A if you do the work, the class is engaging and the lectures are broken down in that anyone can understand. He is open and can be relied on if you have questions on a topic.
Took Horton, for a summer semester and he taught us everything in one month better than any other professor I know of, just participate and come to class and turn in your work on time and it won't be a hard class. Lectures are interesting he actually wants you to learn the material and make sure, you understand it. Good professor take him!!
I took Professor Horton for summer 2022 and he is a really good professor. He's an easy A if you study for quizzes and stay detailed within your discussion boards/ essays. He had 3 essays, 4 discussion boards, 4 quizzes, and tests but they were all easy if you look over the power points and participate in class. I highly recommend him!
He is a wonderful professor for such a difficult subject as history goes back thousands of years. NO take notes, NO textbook. You need to complete 100 review questions before chapter tests, or quizzes. It's easy to get an A for this class, I suggest you get it once to understand what I'm talking about. Hope you have a wonderful semester. (B);
-Shows a genuine interest in his subjects -Makes lectures actually interesting -Very chill person -Gets both sides of an event that had happened
If you do the reviews for the test aswell as the quizzes you will the great. Cool Professor and great conversations.
Amazing teacher, able to be professional and give you the information needed while also being able to make the lecture interesting and fun.
He makes his assignments really easy and you can easily pass his class with an A as long as you do all of your work on time. He also gives you a good review to study before any quizzes or tests. There isn't very much work. Overall a great professor.
Loved him! I took him as a dual credit class in high school. I was iffy about having a college professor teach and was worried of the "expectations", but it was pleasant, and I enjoyed how laid back it was.
Must take!
Want a good professor that's also easy going? Choose Professor Horton. His lectures are intriguing and at most, he asks for your attention each class period. He has reviews for quizzes and exams so it's really not hard to pass his class. He pays attention to details that we may not have ever learned about a certain event! Most enjoyable class.
This is my second time taking professor Horton; he is the best! His lectures blend talking, videos, and class participation, so you're never bored. Plus, he's incredibly understanding, and you can tell that he cares for his students. All exams and quizzes have a review, so passing with an A is easy.
Is a really easy class if you do the discussions in the beginning of the year. For some reason they are weighted much more than quiz's and tests so if you miss them and get a 0 on them it's hard to fix, barely gives any work to fix the grade. Professor is really caring and truly cares about us learning and not just getting a check. Fun class!
Great teacher. Pushes students to work hard. Very understanding. If you show up every day you will be able to pass. Attendance helps get the required information needed. Fun class, where your opinion matters
wow he was so amazing. I would totally recommend him
Amazing instructor, I will definitely take his class again if I have a chance
very great professor in my opinion. probably the most easy going and caring professor ive met. what i will say though is the presentations he uses for the lectures are loaded with a lot of information. so just make sure you take your notes and organize them good. his lectures make it seem a little less overwhelming. overall a great teacher
Horton is the most knowledgeable professor I have met at TCC. His lectures are captivating, and full of valuable information. If you already like history Horton will make you LOVE it. I decided to become a pursue a history degree after taking this course. He truly cares that you grasp the information rather than critique your grades. Great guy.
10/10, very little work throughout the entire year. Lectures for every class but makes it very entertaining. Simple test, a small bit of studying and easy A
Horton is a good professor as he teachers parts of history that are often overlooked, but I feel like doing that as someone where history isn't their strong subject, I am lost. His assignments are lengthy and often difficult to find in canvas and he is tough on grading where you have to be so specific and dive deeper or else he takes points off.
If any history teacher take him.
His class consists of extremely long PowerPoints, and he makes you search through them extensively for tests/quizzes. His assignments were opinion-based writing assignments, and he would grade each student differently. When he does take points off he rarely specifies why. Overall, the class was very unorganized and was not helpful.
Professor Horton is amazing at guiding you throughout the modern portion of US history. He lectures every class, but makes them interesting and is very easy when it comes to his assignments and tests
Professor Horton was alright. He talks A LOT, so be prepared to listen. His test and quizzes' answers are in the Powerpoints. His assignments aren't easy to find, and are in the SYLLABUS. Why are the assignments in the Syllabus and not in ASSIGNMENTS? Anywhom, he grades everyone off his own scale of if he likes it or not, but isn't too harsh.
He is very ambitious when it comes to History, I love my professor very much well respected and does a good job on the lectures.
One of the best teachers out there if you are looking to take History 1302. His tests are open notes and so is the final. Hw/assignments are super easy, and quiz/test reviews are exactly like the real ones so all you have to do is really memorize the answers, and you should pass. Easy class, though he may talk a lot he makes things interesting.
One of the best and most down to earth professors I have known. Mr. Horton is the definition of southern hospitality and he will try his best to ensure that the class is interactive and exciting. There is a lot of lectures but you can tell he truly cares and the amount of work isn't a lot. If you have a brain in your skull you can pass this class.
I had Professor Horton during the Spring 2023 semester (dual-credit) and I thoroughly enjoyed his class. He encouraged participation and wanted people to pay attention, and that was very helpful for me as I get distracted easily. He releases the quizzes and tests beforehand so it is easy to follow along with his lectures and get answers.
This professor made the class very fun and made me actually want to learn history. Something none of my other teachers were able to do. Overall he made the class fun and exciting.
Enthusiastically giving lectures, organized lessons, easy quiz and exam. Highly recommend
The quizzes were VERY easy. Homework...well, we didn't really have homework. Just study for those Unit Tests and you'll be good.
Professor Horton is an amazing professor who engages with the class during his lectures. It's very clear that he is passionate about his job, and he wants all his students to pass while understanding the overall point, or "big rocks," of the material they are going over. His grading rubric is clear and reasonable. I would take this class again.
Has been the only history class I have generally enjoyed. The only advice to give is be in class and pay attention. All of your grades are over the material covered in class. You also won't have many assignments. Just be prepared for the unit tests. Overall expect a fun learning environment with a buch of funny stories and jokes along the way.
Prof. Horton was the first dual credit teacher I've had, and he made the class really fun. I typically have a hard time listening to lectures from my teachers, but in his class, I had no problem at all. I recommend taking his class if you get the chance because if you pay attention to deadlines and do your best work on assignments, you'll be good.
He's very passionate about history, and is an amazing professor. I'm not the best at history but I feel like I learned a lot from his class. Almost all of our work was open notes except for the quizzes but they're easy if you pay attention. As long as you try and do your work on time, you'll pass.
He was the best teacher I've ever had for History!
Professor Horton is an amazing professor. He makes his lectures interesting and he cares about his students, as he is always offering them help. His reviews are on the test and if you do your work on time, there is no reason to worry about failing. Would 10/10 recommend!
He is a fantastic professor! Assignments are accessible and understandable if you go to class. Attendance is mandatory if you want to do well; his lectures will keep you enthusiastic and entertained the entire time! I will always recommend him.
For the first time in my life, I enjoyed showing up to class and was excited to listen to what he had to say. Definitely my favorite teacher/prof I've ever had. You can just tell he loves to teach. Comes to class everyday with such an amazing attitude, and super understanding of the workload and lenient about it. Definitely made a big impact on me!
One of my favorite professors/class, if you are taking history you need to take him! Lecture every class, but his lectures are extremely engaging and interesting, usually have discussions regarding what we are talking about, and sometimes random funny ones (participation is not mandatory) He genuinely cares for his students. Best history professor!
TAKE HIM. I took Horton for 1301 & 1302, if I could take him for more classes I would [3-4 tests, 3-4 quizzes (review given), 1 essay & some discussions] He cares about his students & gets to know all of them well. PLS take him, BEST teacher you'll have. Participation not required, but appreciated :)
Best professor ever amazing lectures nothing to hard keeps it simple
Sam Harper- really great prof has lectures that are fun and actually teach you something
His lectures are very interesting and informative, however he will often dive into some obscure parts of history which might not be helpful for people who aren't very knowledgeable of the subject. His tests were exactly like his reviews and he had discussion boards for us to do every now and then. Definitely take him
If you get the chance take him he is an amazing professor he gives great lectures keeps it interesting and really funny. His exams are also open note!!
Professor Horton makes history engaging with his enthusiastic teaching style. The class is manageable with no major assignments - just focus on the unit tests. I found Unstuck AI helpful for effective study prep.
Horton was an incredible professor, while I only had him for a Dual Credit class I had definitely gotten to a point where I consistently looked forward to his classes. He has an eccentric teaching style that compliments a lot of the material and has a class easy to pass simply by being engaged.
The lectures are really fun and interesting to understand.
Mr. Horton is easily the best professor I've had in my 3 years of college. Exams are easy and he gives in depth reviews for quizzes. Everything's open-note also so like... awesome. Other than that Horton's funny and caring he truly cared and asked about my situations and gave me leeway when I was having a tough time. Definitely take this course!
I've been at college for two years, and he is the best professor I've ever had. His lectures are amazing, and he is incredibly knowledgeable and respectful. I always look forward to his classes because he makes the material so engaging and understandable. Highly recommend!
Prof. Horton is the best you can get. He is passionate about history and teaching it. Usually 2-3 assignments per week. Most assignments were open note, so thats always helpful! He provided his PowerPoints that are used in class as well as sources. As you can see, my grade was a C, this was my doing and I wouldn't have passed without his help!
This professor was fun and had great discussions with the students over the topic we were discussing that week.
He's still good as ever. His lectures are detailed to make sure it makes complete sense and always has some real life example to go along with what we're learning so we can relate to it. His classes were literally just lectures for the most part so be prepared to listen and take notes if you want. He'll answer any questions you have. Prep for tests
He gives good feedback and helps when you have a problem. This class was easy and I would take it again.
Mr. Horton is the best professor I've ever had. He's super engaging with his lectures, and he makes his classes super fun. He's also super caring, and he genuinely cares about your well being. He makes it easy to prepare for the tests, and he gives good feedback on assignments.
TAKE HIMMM!!! PROMISE YOU HIS TESTS ARE THE EXACT SAME AS THE REVIEWS, easy class promise you, you won't regret there is discussion boards which are easy and an essay that is also easy, he give you PowerPoints literally don't even have to write notes unless you want. TAKE HIMMM BEST PROFESSOR!
The material is clearly presented, and the course is well-organized, making it easy to follow along even for those who aren't history buffs. Professor Horton has a relaxed and engaging teaching style that makes the lectures feel approachable and interesting. The assignments are straightforward and manageable, and the overall workload is reasonable.
Mr. Horton was a great professor, very understanding, and the work wasn't difficult, just sometimes challenging in terms of how much you had to write. My one criticism is that he would vocalize his personal political opinions too much. But still a great class that I know I learned a lot from
He is so amazing. History is a little bit boring subject but how he explains everything drags everyone's deeper interest.
Professor Horton was outstanding! I learned more with Him in a semester than I have during my 4 years of High School. I appreciate his love for History and the way he engages with the class. You can tell he has a passion for teaching! He has to be one of the best Professors I've come across at TCC, would take again with no hesitation!
I loved taking Professor Horton's online class! He posts many lecture videos to watch (and it can be a lot of content at once), but his structure is very clear, and you can tell how passionate he is about history. I highly recommend him as a professor if you want a deep dive into history, easy assignments, and a professor who loves what they teach.
He is really good as a teacher, his classes are not that easy, but if you do your part it goes simple, I know that as a history enthusiast I might not be the best person to give an objective review but I can tell that I learned a lot in his class.
very centered and most objective when taking topics that could create debate
I HIGHLY recommend this professor if you find U.S. history interesting and if your attention span is really low. Be prepared for the amount of dad jokes he will make. There's not a lot of homework/ assignments and you are allowed to use your notes or the PowerPoints for extra help. This professor taught me many things I didn't know originally.
I took Prof. Horton's class during high school as a part of TCC Dual Credit program. He obviously cares about what he is teaching and wants to make sure that his students understand US History to the fullest. It's lecture heavy, but he does his best to make sure class isn't boring and makes an environment where it is okay to ask questions.
He's an amazing teacher. Be sure to engage in class because you will never find a teacher like Mr.Horton where he truly wants to teach his students about the history of the U.S. The assignments are not too bad and you have a lot of time to complete and is very interesting to complete.
Professor Horton was absolutely amazing, you can tell immediately how into his job and history he really is.He doesn't make anything harder than it has to.There's 4 units with at least 1 discussion board, quiz, and exam that go with each(there are occasional other small assignments NONE are hard)He gives you a review for each quiz and exam. All Easy
thanks for the lectures
Make sure you read / watch / study all materials and you will definitely pass. ALWAYS do the study guide as it is usually the same as the test. If you don't do the study guide you will fail. Take effort in discussion posts and actually think about what you write. If your discussion is post is well written, you may get extra credit!
Great Professor - Definitely recommend.
I took his 5 week course online. He provides all material you need to study and pass the exams and quizzes. The exams have about 60 or so questions but most of the information can be found in the class materials such as power points, and reviews. EASY class IF you read the material. Organized, and communicative. HIGHLY recommend.
He is a great teacher! I took his online class and he gives plenty of time to finish the assignments, he creates quiz and test reviews that helps a lot, as well as creating summarized notes on every chapter. Discussion boards were super easy. TAKE HIS CLASS
Very easy and funny class. If you read the notes, you could probably skip the lecture, as he provides very helpful quiz reviews and non-timed, open-book/note/Google tests. As long as you communicate 30+ minutes before the due date, he is very lenient; less than, and it's all on you. He is a bit forgetful, may have to remind him to open next unit.
Randall Horton was a joy to learn from. His lectures were top tier and I learned so much from him. He is incredibly kind and his instructions were clear. 10/10 would recommend.
This professor is awesome, He accidentally didn't assign anything for like a week, but we got caught up easily. He's very nice and gives reviews for ALL quizzes and exams. He also gives good feedback and doesn't judge your opinion. I would take again 1000/10
His Lectures are long & boring, you can tell his political standpoint through the random, & most times inaccurate, political facts he focuses on during lecture. I stopped going to his lectures & was doing everything online because NONE of the stuff he rants abt in lecture is relevant to our assignments. But the tests were exactly like the review
He is an awesome lecturer, I will take his course over and over I enjoyed his class. His PowerPoints are very well detailed and helps a lot, if you follow his class teaching and read the materials in this course you are good to go. He is a man that knows what he is doing.
Class lectures are well organized, and efficient, he uses every minute of class time to ensure the key concepts are thoroughly explained. Beyond that my professor maintains a high level of professionalism, creating a respectful and structured learning environment where expectations are clear and academic standards are met
Professor Horton is kind and lighthearted. He is always making jokes in lecture, and he makes history actually interesting. Instead of focusing on just the simple facts, he goes into depth. Reviews are copies of tests/quizzes. He will give you extra credit for an assignment or postpone the deadline if you email him beforehand that you can't do it.
He is a man who seeks the truth about our Nation's History and will povide you with facts. If you want to know the truth about how America was built, then I recommend you sign up with Horton. He taught me things that actually matter and things that helped me change my mind on certain topics. He will open your eyes on wars that made the difference.
This class is one of the best experiences I've had inside a college campus. Horton provides all the facts and different perspectives within history. Great lectures, gives good feedback, amazing discussions and very thoughtful. If I could, I would take his class again! I highly recommend!
